heart of course and um as uh Michael Massie just homers off of Louis Hill so it's one nothing KC but um the this community always just does an amazing job and ra you know that you you've been here for a long time seeing the 24-hour streams and all that and look we we decided that obviously today would be the best day to do this uh with it being September 11th and again for the community I know how much this means to Ron Mike so you guys coming out doing what you did over just the last two days days is truly amazing and I know you guys were at the memorial this morning correct correct correct and how how was that I mean it's obviously somber Pete I mean um what what what's cathartic for us is that you know for 23 years we go back and um we get a chance to to get some comfort from the people who loved our father who worked with him um so you know it it it really is so many people thank us for for coming back every year but we we should say thank you to them for never forgetting um because we we do gain a lot of strength from their continued support they've been steadfast for for for I mean for over two decades now and it's it's it's hard to believe that we're upon the 23rd anniversary already but but again it it they there were more for us than vice versa just from the community and and the the New York City law enforcement family you know so it's important to us yeah and I think the stories is what gets us through we're always hearing a different story and Mike you could tell the story that the uh I think it was Justin told us today yeah there was a gentleman that I met for the first time today and that's another thing Pete it's just like every year you meet someone new and they have a recollection of of a moment that they had with with our father in it and you know um what happened was he told a story of you know our dad was at the he was the Firearms instructor um at at the time uh of the World Trade Center and uh in his office he was able to see the the first plane hit the the the tower the first Tower and then there was a woman in his uh office that was just overcome with just grief from just visibly seeing this happen she actually fainted and then my dad s thank God was there to kind of catch her so once he you know realized that you know she was okay and and and she was able to kind of stand on our own that's when my dad and it was told to us today that he then ran from William Street all the way down to the to the World Trade Center to to obviously to to assist and help with the rescue efforts right and that that's something because somebody just asked that somebody asked what um Tower he worked and he did not he was off correct no no he not he was working that day he was working but um it wasn't like you know a lot of people think that he was there on site he was not so he ran on foot from William Street uh down to the towers and it was the south tower that unfortunately um he got trapped in man oh man so that that's look I I I think that's the um that that's the thing that I think will get anybody because that that's a that's a hero's response I mean that that's a response that um I don't think any anybody I don't think anybody wants to be put in that situation but that that's a hero response right there uh to to do something like that that's a that's a valiant thing and um as a lot of people in the chat are already saying wow you know that that's what happened so yes he was not working in the towers he ran to go in to help save others and um it's just it's an it's an incredible thing sure I mean that's the oath that they take though Pete right in law enforcement to protect serve and the civilians um so when when when I tried to contact my my dad I me in fact I was trying to contact all my family members that day and when I couldn't get in touch with my dad just knowing who he was and what he embodied I knew that he was down there helping I just assumed just knowing exactly what type of guy he was but I was certainly very wrong about um his fate that day uh because you know and and I'm sure you spoken to my brother privately but you know our father was Superman to us right um and you know and I'm sure you know you you have father all of us out here our father means everything to us of course and and that's exactly how we looked at him and if there was someone that we thought that was going to live to be 100 years old we would have selected out that you know just as far as how he took care of himself how he looked out for others um how he protected to serve his his his fellow man so um you know i' I'd be remiss if I didn't kind of talk about just exactly what he was in totality as a human being right no doubt about it and we just had another $100 donation so guys everybody in the chat thank you guys so much and can you can you tell us a little bit more about the foundation and and where some of these proceeds you guys plan on this going to yeah well I mean as the mission statement um alluded to Pete you know I mean first and foremost education was was very important to my father you know my my dad grew up from Bronx River projects that's where we met our mom uh he was a self-taught self-read man uh you know he he went to public school and then went to power Memorial High School cathal school in Manhattan and then you know through his his his his academic achievements was able to go to St allof College in Minneapolis of all places but that was his opportunity out of the hood out of the Bronx yeah and it was because he was committed to his academics so that's something that he passed on to my brother and I as we were coming up and being read throughout Middle School ages and high school just the importance of Education uh he read a lot of Brook a lot of novels so that's something the the importance of a reading comprehension was something that was very big to him so this Foundation is really a platform to not just Aid some of the community efforts as it relates to reading initiatives but also because the Sports was such a a huge part of our background and and it really it changed our life it allows us to you know use basketball as a vehicle to to get higher education at the collegate level and then ultimately uh allow us to fellowship with people outside of our community which is that's how we grew as as young professionals right so um we want to use this Foundation as a way to really assist uh students student athletes in high school with tuition assistance uh because you know we went to Catholic school went to St Raymond High School in the Bronx and a lot of these parochial schools are closing now right and it's because of they're just not getting the tuition assistance uh from the from the so we're just trying to really just you know establish my father's Legacy keep it going on and allow um his story to really permeate you know the community and and give them opportunities for Education yeah no doubt about it um great a great cause ra want to share anything no you know I know the community tired of seeing me I let them I let them see Mike for a little while you know but uh n just to Echo his sentiments I mean I mean for us we really just we we saw the outpouring support that we've gotten since 9/11 and we really just wanted to make sure that we that we um gave back I mean to me it's all about giving back paying it forward you know as simple as that and um I wouldn't be where I am today if it wasn't for the support that we receiv received during um those uh tragic events so I'm just here to give back I'm here to help I'm here to be a resource for someone and to uh open as many help them open as many doors as those that that did for us of course no doubt about it and like I said just for us um we're just happy that we can help in any way I mean that that's the most important thing right is that um I I talk about this community all the time is I always say it I I think this community needs to Pat themselves on the back we're sitting at start but for this community to be able to do a 24-hour stream and collect $25,000 for tunnels of towers we do this for your father's day and we all sat in the phone and we said let's let's do 1500 surpass that by a lot you know so and everybody in this chat the one everybody who donated everybody willing to donate just pat yourself on the back uh because the the type of stuff that NYU is doing at a small a small amount it's gonna get a lot bigger it really is amazing that we're able to do stuff like this and be be successful at doing it which is which is again truly phenomenal to everybody in this chat so thank you guys so much for what you've done already and we'll continue to do as the day goes on yeah and and Pete let me just say this first and foremost I I wanna I wanna thank my brother and and and I I mean this in all sincerity is because you know my brother privately told me about uh when he first met you and what you were building and how he believed and and what you Endeavor to do just for this community and because of the the the the passion for the Yankees and the organization and the fan base and um it it I needed this in my life I needed NYU in my life and you know my brother and I we Bick we talk we argue as brothers do about sports and we're we're we're both very passionate about the Yankees and you know I'm so happy that I as a fan have a platform like NYU where I can come in with my schedule chime in I know this great dialogue this great you know I love when people can agree to disagree on thoughts and ideas about the team that we all love right so I I can't thank you Pete and the platform that you provided for us uh as it relates to 911 because I told you privately last week I didn't want to impose on what you're doing on on your on on on what you're building for for you in this Enterprise but I'm thankful being part of it um I'm I'm thankful that my brother introduced us and that I get a chance to kind of watch this grow and kind of kind of be be a part of the fabric of of of your community so I can't thank your community enough NYU man I appreciate you guys thank you for the contributions I don't want to it's gonna be a while let me let me let me let me sum it up so I'm concerned I'm I'm I'm really concerned you know right um you know the Aaron Boone uh Brian Cashman experience I'm I'm over it um you know I'm I'm I'm still holding a grudge that you know they didn't bring gerardi back not to beat a dead horse here buty wanted to come back and cman wanted to go in a different direction and I'm tired of the passive aggressive [ __ ] uh with the front office I'm just I'm just tired of it I'm tired of the arrogance um now the good news for the Yankees is is that when you look around the league right now if everyone has what 15 16 games is left around there for the rest of the month yep nobody's running and hiding Right facts uh so that's the good news for the Yankees that there's opportunity uh if they step up you know start clicking on all cylinders you know we get some depth out of the the the starting pitching a little bit then maybe we can build our confidence but you know the whole winning the AL East I would love to but in this day and age with the playoff format I just think it's Fool's Gold sometimes yeah and as we saw last year the Orioles won what 101 games yep and and who won the World Series the guys who went in in the first week and won not one not two but swept them straight the rang that's right that's right so so we just need to come make but again we're gonna have to win of Aaron Boone guy but I'm I'm done with him as my Skipper man I can't do it anymore I've been done with him since uh since 2019 I think I think I gave him I gave him one year I'm like you got to give him one year but I I I was done very very quickly with with Aaron boom but I agree with you 100% on that yeah so we we'll see man cautiously optimistic man anything can happen in the playoffs but I'm not putting my money on the Yankees right now we we we we G have to gut half the team next year for sure yeah no I I completely understand raw let's see are you are you a little more optimistic over there let's see we get an optimistic raw today oh man I I think for the most part I I've said it all along like and me and Mike were just talking about this the other day that the team is sloppy defense L you the team I have some concerns defensively because I do think that to win those big games you need to make big plays and who in that infield you know with the exception of maybe vuli who's going to make a big play you know and that's concerning you know who's going to make a big play at second at third and while uh chism's defense has been adequate I don't think it's been you know I I think he's still learning and part of that learning curve you're going to have to suffer some you know little bit of setbacks you know you're going to have to you know realize that you know he does struggle catching popups and you know we're doing this on on time that on borrow time you know like the windows closing so you know the defense concerns me um the uh the pitching I think that you know when I look at the pitching I look at uh I'm looking at uh strowman and I do think that you know he could be one big game pitcher but I do think he he scares me cuz I don't know what I'm going to get agreed I agree I don't know what I'm going to get and as good as um as good as uh rhan has been he's been you know yeah same thing yeah the only the only sure thing we potentially have see him on Saturday right away yeah so he is starting on Saturday so again G Cole but one of the one of the one things I'll add in that I think worries me about the offense the most and this has been happening I think all year is when you're facing good pitch and they're facing ragins today having a great year and he's he's also shutting the Yankees down it's one nothing game right now but they don't have they never they they can't piece together multiple hits they'll get a lead off double they get a ground out a pop out strikeout something like that they can't get two or three hits in a row they don't get a walk at back to- back hits It's almost like they're still very resilient or or relying I should say on a home run ball to happen but other than that that I mean uh I have extreme extreme concerns with this club extreme concerns but like you guys said we're going to see what happens maybe they get hot at the right time and we're all shocked and I'm all for that Texas did it last year Arizona did it last year maybe it could happen to the Yankees who the hell knows my only concern is this can Aaron Boone navigate the hot hand in the bullpen good enough to do what Bruce bochi did last year I don't know if that's possible oh man well you know Bruce Boi he's in a different league right yeah it's one best ever yeah I mean so so it's unfair to Aaron boa think that he can remotely come close to to that to that to that magic right because a feel both's are old school guy yeah so I'm sure he's smart enough to to appreciate some of the analytical stuff but then hey man he's a field guy like he probably has his line up in while he's pulling into the parking lot at at at the right yeah no nobody nobody's handing him a Lineum card no no man no that's that's Instinct that's F that's holding guys accountable um and we can talk a whole another segment about how the Yankees have certain characters some Bad actors that have not been held accountable uh as often as they should have you know um I see some guys who you know P you know first thing to go in this game is your reflexes man when you start getting old man winner oh yeah when you start getting long in too those reflexes go and I think we know the guys in the roster reflexes just aren't what they used to be that's right that's right and and and lastly when you think about certain teams that go on to win it they always have besides the two superstars that we have we always have that one breakout performance is Austin Wells performance really a breakout performance not necessarily because I mean we know that he was good but that's where vuli needed to step in and be that guy you needed that that that breakout performance at that particular position yep's hurting them no doubt about it one of the wor stops in two years yeah so if he was like really doing if he was exceeding expectations right now I'd be like oh man yanas good they got that they got that Prime Star you know at shortstop which is having a phenomenal breakout season and he's not and he's not having that in year two so they got question for you no that no no you're you're right ra and I got a question for you for both of you oh boy going in no no no [ __ ] with you no going into next year is V is V and Untouchable like are we just going to just just you know give them milk and cookies and and keep it comfy and cozy they do that now I see he's been he's been listening to Johnny lasag over here I see I mean like what are we doing yeah look there's no way they'll give up on vuli um he he's this this kid and I don't know why but vulpi has been given a golden ticket to go ahead and just for some reason Jason Dominguez hasn't and I don't understand why Jason Dominguez to me is a much better player I think he's going to prove he's a much better player but he hasn't got that same opportunity um I don't know I I I think they'll give vulpi another year here's the thing with vuli yes I think if next year he struggles again I think you would have to start looking around going this just ain't it this ain't it I think they'll give him one more year but then you got to start saying we don't I I don't know what this guy's going to be and and what is the what is the future option here because he's he's just not cutting it yeah does he go to second base if if next year okay so is that the next move second base for the Yankees or second base for another team maybe it it depends I I think it's it's going to be interesting especially as other prospects come up too you got uh you know guys like rodri Aras coming up George Lombard um these guys have gotten really hot in the second half they're going to be top prospects for the Yankees but they'll be top prospects in baseball very very soon so they're in a they're in a good position to replace these guys in the next few years if they need to which is good yeah well I mean major come you know major changes on on the horizon Pete because uh you know we got the standing issue and again I know we got to finish out this season but just you know uh for shits and giggles here you know we got the standing issue for next year right that's another another year where it's coming off will the Yankees pull the trigger you know cuz he's just a DH he's Feast of famine right when he's bad he's really bad and you know when in the month of October he has an uncanny ability to kind of lock in do we get that from Stanton this year I sure hope so I sure hope so yeah they need it hope so there's a lot of guys that have to step up that are not named so to and judge if they're going to win anything this year so as as long as somebody somebody else steps up one or two guys they they'll have a chance offensively but it's it's going to
