it's the NFL on EA Sports and we've got some history in this battle of AFL alumni it's the New York Jets and the Tennessee Titans and it comes your way next EA Sports coverage of the NFL brings us to Music City Welcome to Nashville Tennessee and Nissan Stadium on the shores of the Cumberland River so good to have you with us Mike too and Greg Olsen here in the booth parter these are a couple of teams that struggled a year ago finished out of the playoffs they were under 500 but that's what you love about the NFL a new season brings renewed optimism absolutely and really Mike a lot of new faces at critical places I mean there is a lot of new pieces to the puzzle here both coaching staff and the roster of players they believe last year is over they do not think there is any correlation between the squad they're planning to put on the field today and that one that we saw really go through some growing pains and struggles just a year ago stage is set ball is on the te and off we go on EA Sports Davis now to return it now an opening past the 30 still on the move and they finally get him down but not before he's inside the 20 what a return all right so if you're going to be a kick returner in the National Football League you need these two things balance vision and yes speed doesn't hurt too much either and all three of those were evident there I mean what a return that was to set his guys up starting this drive inside the red zone so they come to the line for first down and 10 now the first back taken in the 2022 draft gree Hall that's powerful running lowers the shoulder and picks up four here's a second and six he'll go again with Paul and he's into the end zone Reese Hall touchdown New York and Greg that is the way youd love to start one of those games get off the bus get on the field get in the End Zone the road team with the first six of this one and you can just see Mike it takes a lot of the air out of the stadium in this crowd they're fired up started of the game trying to make their presence felt and the opposing team goes all the way down for an opening drive touchdown that's an ideal way to start when you find yourself on the road 7 nothing is our score as this kick is sent into the air on the return here's TJ Spears nice job by the return as he takes it across the 30 yd line Titans coming up with their quarterback will Levis good performance last year taken early in that second round in the 2023 draft Greg this quarterback out of Kentucky could be the future for Tennessee as hard as it may be Mike to resist I don't think they need to come out and think we have to match them big play for big play after just giving up that early score stick to your plan pick up the first first down and allow this game to start unfolding and settle into a rhythm execute your game plan don't try to match what your opponent's doing and that ball incomplete over the middle DeAndre Hopkins was the intended target for that one it's second down timing and Trust critical elements of this quick passing game if you're Target in the quarterback are not on the same page it winds up being an incompletion and a wasted down Hopkins sent in motion throwing on second down Levis and that's going to be incomplete coverage was good that time the contact jarring the ball loose and forcing third down he's usually such a reliable Target in the passing game Mike we just don't see him struggle to come down with catches like that all too often and when you're one of the go-to guys on your team I know the hits coming but guess what it feels a lot better after you take that hit after a catch than it does after a drop he's going to get it to okono and he'll be stopped short of a first down and that will necessitate a call to the punt team it's fourth down when you're willing to throw the ball short of the sticks on third down you know what that tells me Mike the decision to go for it on fourth down has already been made if you're able to pick it up with yards after the catch great but if not it's it's a fourth and short and you give yourself a realistic shot of converting on this fourth down and no return forthcoming it's a Touchback and will come out to the 20 yd line the Jets offense ready now for their second Drive they lead seven nothing thanks to the touchdown on the opening drive so try to double up here as they begin this drive first and 10 [Applause] Rogers got a man downfield it's Wilson and he'll be brought down up around the 38 yd line love to start any drive like that 18 on the first play and a first down we talk so much about start in Fast And then trying to sustain that throughout the course of the game that's exactly what they're doing here they've got the early lead but they're not content to just sit on the ball they're looking to extend it nice start here to this drive once they cross Midfield then it goes into go mode you're trying to come away with points every single time you have the ball it's a good way to start this game here in the first quarter working free downfield it is Williams so 30 one yds on this play a second big one in a row and another first down those are the explosive pass plays that this team is going to continue to mine all day and you could see pre- snap the quarterback loved his matchup he allowed his receiver to work downfield perfect throw and now sets them up to try to see if they can finish this drive off with some points [Applause] a fresh set of downs to work with it is first down and 10 shotgun snap and a give to Hall and a nice run get him about nine it'll bring up second down [Applause] Rogers RPO quickly out to Wilson and he's going to have a first down he's forced out nice pickup of nine on the give it's Hall he'll be taken down after a gain of [Applause] two look come up on a second down and eight from the shotgun it's AO to get this complete it's will over the middle this is one of those throws where you're hoping you do most of the damage after the catch but give credit to the defense once that ball was caught they were on him quickly and there was nowhere for him to go after the catch they'll come up to Third and three working out of the gun it's Rogers that one Tak it in middle of the end zone Garrett Wilson touch down [Applause] Jets extra point try now for [Applause] zurlo it's up and good and the Jets will extend their first quarter lead it's now 14 to nothing the kickoff team is out on the field and we're back to it as the kicks away from the six here comes a return and he'll be brought down right around the 25 yd line the Titans offense about ready to get going on their second possession they Trail by two touchdowns so the time is now got to get that rally going it starts with first and [Applause] [Applause] 10 First Carry for the man from Memphis Tony Pard not much happening there just a short game here's second and nine out of the shotgun Levis back to the former jaguar and Falcon Calvin Ridley and he'll be stopped short of the first down he's able to look it in and get forward for a pickup of about eight these are the type of plays that drive a coach crazy in the film room and you have to learn as a quarterback to avoid you can take some chances you can push the ball down field but not only to pick up a couple yards you got to pick your chances of when you want to be aggressive you got to make sure you make better decisions going forward trying to get to the edge he will not get there as a matter of fact he was taken down behind the line and that brings up fourth down the idea here for this offense is you're not really thinking necessarily touchdown you're thinking first down let's get a fresh set of downs here and reset but in this case they suffer a loss and it brings up fourth down here's Ryan Stonehouse now and he's on to punt for the second time in this opening quarter and he's going to be knocked down before he can even think about returning that one whoa so now the Jets offense ready to take over once more four they've raced out to a 14- nothing lead they've done nothing wrong so far set to go now on First and 10 from the gun Rogers a throw left side taken in by Wilson remember he had the touchdown catch the last time they had the football here he's got a first down to say this group has started strong here in the first quarter Mike might be a bit of an understatement I mean offensively firing on all cylinders defensively suffocating the opponent the ability to complement each other on both sides of the ball and play at such a high level they could have a little bit more breathing room here by the end of this drive and they will bring him down on the other side of Midfield wow they are moving the ball to start this drive 21 on that play and really the key to this play was just how fast he was able to get through his progressions his mind was able to process and go from one to two to three so quickly that he was able to get the ball to the right Target on time and I think so often those two things are different being open is one thing being open and getting the ball on time that's what leads to success and that's what we saw here that's to the left side pulled in by conin and he'll be out of bounds inside the 30 yd line a gain there of 23 yds good for a Jets first down throwing with anticipation it not only requires the confidence in both your accuracy and the timing but it also forces the receiver to be on time and where the quarterback expects you to be and this is one of those examples man when those those two things are on point it results in a first [Applause] down they'll run it out of the gun and it's Hall and he's fighting to try to get back to the line of scrimmage but will not do it this is going to be a loss of a yard well there hasn't been a whole lot for this crowd to be excited about on either side of the ball but at least now the defense is trying to be that spark nice tackle for loss there can they do something to build upon to try to get his team going another run here with Hall and they finally get him down but not before he brings it to the four yd line it is a gain of 23 yards and now they'll have four shots at it it's first and goal we had a feeling coming into the game that they were going to get this guy plenty of touches and you can see from this early success why the defense is going to have to make some adjustments here because they have had no answers thus far from the four yd line trying to punch it in first down and goal they'll run it's Hall and he will fight his way to the end zone Reese Hall touchdown New York that his second touchdown of the afternoon give him a second touchdown on this one what an opening quarter Greg two rushing touchdowns in the first well Mike we kind of had a feeling this might be the case they told us all week how important it was to get this guy involved early and often and boy have they ever he has made his presence felt here early in this one now zerline for the extra [Applause] point he's got and the Jets will stake themselves to a 21 to nothing lead [Applause] [Music] [Applause] both teams ready to go once more as the kicks away Spears now to return it he'll work his way across the 25 yd line out comes the Tennessee offense they get set to see what they can do they are facing an uphill climb early begin this drive with first and 10 [Applause] there go play action with Levis now a deep ball here for Ridley you know Mike there's the saying in the NFL take what the defense gives you but that's not always the case sometimes you have to force a ball down field show the defense you are willing to take big shots even though they weren't able to connect it's going to have an impact the rest of the game they'll try again here second and 10 from the gun it's Levis a throw right side taken in by Boy and he'll be stopped short of the first down he's able to look it in and get forward for a pickup of about eight these are the play calls Mike that offensive coordinators use to just get their quarterback and their passing game into some sort of Rhythm easy pitch and catch get the ball out of his hand see a completion these typically as the game goes on lead to bigger and bigger gains he's got his tight end that's a cono and he's going to be brought down on what will be the final play in this this opening quarter so a big third down hookup takes us to the break 21 nothing is our score and we're back in Music City after [Applause] [Music] [Applause] this they'll come up first and 10 at the 40 off the play F it's Levis and he can hang on it is incomplete a chance there a big chance for a huge play but he couldn't reel it in as this offense continues to put anything together and score some points they need to just take a step back they need to say okay we've struggled here in the first half half putting points on the scoreboard don't worry about chasing points let's chase first downs let's chase completions just start building something small and often times when you take that approach it's snowballs and next thing you know you find your groove and he's down inside the 40 yd line two times they've connected on this drive now this one for 21 yards and a first down [Applause] Levis to throw that's to the left side caught by Ridley and he's in cvin Ridley touchdown Tennessee what a job to finish the play with a touchdown The Catch and Carry in the carry part Greg that was the most impressive there well you said it Mike the catch was nice but it's what can you do after the catch that really separates guys in this league and in this case he did plenty because it ended up in a [Applause] touchdown the veteran Nick Folk here for the extra [Applause] point his kick is good and the Titans get back in it it is 21-7 [Applause] are look at K off team is out on the field and we're back to it as the kicks away Davis now to return it oh he's got room past the 30 look at him go and he will finally be tracked down nearly a touchdown but he'll set his team up with first and goal oh man you know he wanted that one he's going to wind up just short of the goal line but what a return it was when he got to Midfield Mike I thought he was bomb I mean it won't be a touchdown but he set his guys up first and goal and that was electric to watch wow just like that things change dramatically it's first and goal here's a run he'll get maybe a yard down to the four yd line inside the five it is second and goal looking to throw it's right Rogers he puts it up and it's caught Mike Williams touchdown New York tight spaces down there things happen quick Greg a quick decision and great execution for the score you're exactly right Mike down here this close to the goal line everybody's clock has to speed up not only the quarterback processing to get the ball out of his hand but you have to win as a receiver quickly and give the quarterback somewhere to go with the ball it was that quickness at the line of scrimmage that led to that touchdown now zerline on to add the extra [Applause] point he's got it and the Jets add on one more as they extend their second quarter lead [Applause] both teams ready to go once more as the kicks away he Fields it at the eight a good return as he takes it across the 30 the titans's offense and receiver Calvin Ridley set to take over for this drive they find themselves down three touchdowns here needing to flip the script in a hurry and they'll start it here on first [Applause] down they'll give it to Pard to start this drive just pushing Defenders out of the way as he surges forward for a gain of about five this just shows why you can't count on just one guy to take him down he's a powerful enough Runner you got to have guys coming in support when that first hit is made it takes a team effort to stop him especially once he gets going on second down Lis that's thrown right side but incomplete Calvin Ridley was the intended receiver and it's going to be third down I think the biggest issue and why they find themselves trailing in this game Mike has really just been the ups and downs of this passing game at sometimes he's highly accurate and efficient but at others he just misses too many easy throws question is are they going to be able to overcome this that's over the middle and intercepted picked off by CJ Mosley so not a lot of yards on the return mik but that's okay the number one thing end up with the ball in your hands and in this case mission accomplished and his guys are headed off the field to [Applause] celebrate free Hall making his way back out there as the Jets are on offense again they'll have a short field in front of them as they try to extend this lead out further [Applause] here's first and 10 Rogers a throw left side going to be intercepted picked off by jetay aier nothing the defense loves more Greg than the opportunity to not only stop a team but turn him back around the other way a touchdown on the pick six yeah the defense just loves getting their hands on the ball when they can Mike but it is extra special when they're able to capitalize and take it all the way back for six these are the ones that rip your heart out on the offensive side [Applause] now folk on for the extra [Applause] point it's up and through and the Titans are able to cut into the deficit [Applause] the kickoff team is out on the field and we're back to it as the kicks away set to return Xavier Gibson and he'll work this one past the 25 to right about the 28 yd line the Jets offense and Breece Hall getting set for this next Drive the lead is a couple of touchdowns as this drive kicks off first and 10 here's Rogers off balance throw it's complete and they will bring this into the Red Zone big connection inside the 20 so a big one there to start the drive a gain of 57 yds everyone notices the big play after the catch Mike right that's the easy part but don't take for granted or Overlook how important ball placement is being able to hit your Target in stride is the difference between a nice completion or a big chunk play like they had here it allows them to turn into a runner faster take advantage of that green grass and big plays typically lead to points they'll come up here first and 10 give up the Middle with Hall and the Jets are going to have a first and goal coming up as they try to finish off this drive with six points what a great run down here inside the Red Zone Mike it's so important that you still can run the ball great job here by the back I thought for a minute he was going to score he gets it all the way down inside the one and I wouldn't be surprised if they let him finish this drive off throwing Rogers to the Zone there but it is incomplete Rees Paul the intended receiver and it'll be second and goal you can just see the reaction on the sideline this defense thought they had themselves a critical stop the Mantra down here for all defensive coordinators Mike is takeaways field goals that's what you're trying to do over the top he's got it Reese Hall touchdown jets that is his third touchdown of the afternoon and make it three touchdowns now remember he caught the one earlier that his second rushing touchdown of the game and Mike this is what every and of course all scoring plays are reviewed so replay is going to take a look at this one and make sure it is good for six the question did he get his hands around the football in the end zone if he did it's a touchdown but this one's going to need very close [Applause] scrutiny so ruled a touchdown originally they didn't find any reason to overturn it and it stays on the board extra point try now for [Applause] zlock he gets it to go and the Jets tack on one more to their lead [Applause] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] both teams ready to go once more as the kicks away this taken at the five and it'll be brought down past the 25 decent field position to start this drive the Titans offense make their way out to take over once more they'll try to get this a bit more respectable before before the break it has not been their half to this point let's see what they do on this drive first down [Applause] now now Levis connecting with his tight end okona and the bring him down but not until he gets to the 38 yd line that's his third catch of this first half and good enough for a first down every once in a while it just comes down to you need somebody in the Huddle to just make a play and it wasn't a whole lot fancy here the quarterback just dumps the ball down a quick underneath completion and then really it's the yards after catch that did the rest and that's what it takes you're not always going to have the perfect play you're not always going to dial up the perfect play against the perfect look sometimes players need to make plays and that was a good one there so after the loss on first here's second and [Music] [Applause] 14 on the give it's par he is met and dropped good defense loss of a couple on that play great job by that linebacker timing his Blitz he didn't give any indication to the offense that he was coming and he's able to get through that hole and take the ball carrier down for a loss third and long Levis ah the pressure too much and he goes down this is a great reminder of why it's so important to have great offensive tackles when you get beat so fast off the edge the quarterback has nowhere to go in the pocket to escape and that's what happens another punt brings another look at Ryan Stonehouse to kick as he's on to punt for [Applause] Tennessee oh no fair Catch and he pays the price big shot to make sure this return didn't even get started and his great first half on the ground continues and this is one of those guys that when he gets in the groove it seems like it's an8 yd Run a 10 yard run and all of a sudden a 15 yd chunk play one after another the break the Huddle coming up now for first and 10 Rogers to throw little short pass here caught by his tight end and he'll get about eight on that one most of it coming after the catch it's second down just take what the defense is giving you when you can stay ahead of the chains and just take these easy pitch and catch throws underneath hitch routes quick game now it put you in a lot more favorable down and distances to eventually attack this defense a little bit more downfield he's taken down but just shy of Midfield call it a gain of 13 and the Jets have a first down just seems like every year Mike the tight end position just continues to grow within the passing game and establishes a bigger and bigger role and listen I know I'm biased but if you want to have a good passing game you better have a good tight end so two minutes to play in a back and forth first half we're back to Nashville in a [Applause] moment A-Rod now to throw on first down and he can't hang on through the contact it's incomplete what a good job defensively to meet him just as the ball was arriving and it'll be second down he was looking for Garrett Wilson there and that will lead to a second down [Applause] [Music] down they'll throw again here's Rogers that's right side and brought in by Williams and they'll move this one down inside the 40 yd line that's a gain of 15 good for a Jets first down not a whole lot complicated about this play Mike that was understanding where the holes of the defense were remember in this Zone coverage you got to find green grass get past the first down marker be friendly to the quarterback and then the ball has to be out on time before those Zone Defenders can react to the receiver it's exactly how it played out here you can drop all the fancy plays you want but when the quarterback and the receiver see it through the same set of eyes it's virtually impossible to stop give them 12 on that one they are on the March another first down Rogers going up top again oh in trouble down he goes the offense goes from feeling really good about the previous play with a real nice pickup to then on the ensuing play ending up going the complete opposite direction really nice job here by the defense immediately getting back on track what to the coach is say just play the next play and that's exactly what they did now the Jets going to use the first of their timeouts as the clock stops with 46 seconds remaining in the first half [Applause] work to do now as they come up on second and [Applause] long to throw it's Rogers that's to the rookie from Western Kentucky Malachi Corley nice job there getting the ball to your slot receiver and then letting him get to work it's a nice feeling as a quarterback when you can just have a short throw still result in a big game now a third and two the shotgun it's Aon and they're going to have enough to convert here and it sets up first and goal [Applause] working out of the gun it's Rogers and good yardage there after the catch the wind up with a gain of seven on first down and with Just 4 seconds left in the first half a timeout is called [Applause] on comes Greg zerline to try the field goal this about a short as you can get zerin kick is good and the Jets going to tack on three more extending the lead here late in the first half and that's a really nice boost here before the break I mean you work the clock well you're able to steal some points the biggest thing is you're able to build a little momentum now going into the locker room at halftime so two seconds left to play and the kicks away this one will be taken in the the end zone no run back forthcoming and the ball coming out to the 30 yd line first in [Applause] 10 Levis to throw and that is incomplete one final chance does not work out time has expired the first half has come to an end all right Mike we'll take it from there as we welcome everyone into our EA Sports Studios and our halftime report we were treated to a solid first half out of the running back Bree Hall he had two touchdowns on the ground and added another on the receiving end for good measure he was awesome this was an extremely one-sided first half one team showed up ready to go the other's been in a days thus far but there's still plenty of time left for this one to tighten up significantly all right coach thank you very much we welcome you back it is quarter number three very one-sided first half of of action will we get a turnaround let's find out the third quarter is [Applause] underway pass Midfield and he'll be out of bounds on the return and the drive will begin there all right so if you're going to be a kick returner in the National Football League you need these two things balance vision and yes speed doesn't hurt too much either and all three of those were evident there I mean what a return that was to set his guys up starting this drive inside the Red Zone on First and five these are the worst I I had a couple years Mike where I swear I got tackled in inside the one yd line 10 times and then you look back and you're like man how many touchdowns did I leave on the board cuz I couldn't get one more yard now for him individually not ideal but right now they're on the doorstep of the end zone and they got to find a way to put that ball across the goal line on the ground it's the tight end you try to use that size to push forward but it's not going to work defense strong up front and they're going to get him down behind the line of scrimmage this is a play we've seen this offense have success with in the past but here you have to wonder if they maybe TI their hand a bit because that one went [Music] [Applause] nowhere out of the shotgun Levis that is caught by the tight end chig okono touchdown Titans Greg it's the quarterback's best friend and you were that guy for a lot of years the tight end in a tight area with man coverage yeah and it's really twofold Mike right first and foremost we see so many of these tight ends around the league that now have gotten to the point where one-on-one matchups that's Advantage offense but then even in the cases they don't create great separation Mike it's their size their catch radius it's such a friendly Target for the quarterback that when things get tight in the Red Zone they look to the tight end here's a designed run trying to push the p fell forward he didn't even get to the one yd line they stop him short no gain so you give up a touchdown on defense the question is how are you going to respond on the two-point try well respond did they ever big difference giving up eight then there is giving up six seriously that the kickoff team is out on the field and we're back to it as the kicks away Davis now to return it and he'll be brought down just beyond the 25 yd line so now Rogers and the Jets ready to take over once more and we show you some of the highlights and there have been plenty to choose from three touchdown passes and some other big time throws as well certainly dialed in on top of his game right throughout this one they're going to start this drive on the ground it's Hall he'll have a Jets first down as the tackle made at about the 38 yd line pretty much just more of the same from what we saw with this back in the first half and he doesn't need much he gets a little bit of space and then he can create the rest it's the combination of patience vision and then the the burst to hit the hole once he sees it this guy's been a handful all day the master of play action Rogers he's trying to get back to the line of scrimmage but will not and be taken down there and now we're seeing the game kind of go back and forth each team trading blows trying to establish control over the other nice chunk play on the previous play the defense responds back with a sack and to see which team can establish a little bit more of this control as the game unfolds a throw left side taken in by Corley 14 yds on that pass play there and the Jets have a first down Mike think back to our conversation during the break we've kind of both asked ourselves are they content with this double digit lead do they come out and play conservative here in the second half well it took exactly one play to get our answer they continue to get chunk plays like this this thing could get out of reach [Applause] fast it's first down and it's Paul not much to speak of on that one maybe a gain of a yard it's second down [Applause] from the gun Rogers over the middle that's Corley and they'll take this down inside the 35 17 yds that time for number 17 now so far here today putting points on the board certainly hasn't been a problem and plays like that are wide think about it Mike sometimes you just have to take what the defense gives you and not force something that's not there and that mid-range pass results in a fresh set of [Applause] downs play action now with Rogers that is brought in at the 10 and he's going to be brought down it is a gain of 23 yards and now they'll have four shots at it it's first and goal offensively Landing a lot of body blows on this drive Mike just the ability to steadily March the ball down field and remain so efficient both run and pass as they continue to wear this defense out they have to find a way to end this drive with points anything short of that will be a bit of a let down a run on first and goal a gain of four as he's taken down now here's second and goal now Rogers and he'll take it on in Alan Lazar touchdown New York that is yet another touchdown pass what a game he is having throwing his fourth touchdown score of the game it's one thing Mike to throw four touchdowns but it's really the ease in which he's carved this defense up that has stood out the most the defense has had no answers for this passing game and he has just completely had his way with this group now zerline for the extra [Applause] point he knocks it through and the Jets will extend this third quarter lead [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] both teams ready to go once more as the kicks away Spears now to return it he'll get this up to the 28 yd line nice place for the drive to start the Titans offense makes their way back out to the field for their next possession they are in need of points in a big way as they set out on First and [Applause] set the drive starts it's a carry by po he makes one man miss but sto quickly as they hold him to a gain of one [Applause] [Music] they'll run once more and it's colored again and the struggles in the running game continue they take him down behind the line the speed and the get off by the big interior defensive tackle Mike I mean he got got through there so fast he almost took the hand off himself third and [Applause] long Hopkins sent in motion here's Levis to throw and this is going to be incomplete that's great work to get in there and make things difficult defensively setting up a fourth down so here in the second half it's obvious the offense finds themselves in a tough spot trailing by this many points but really what makes it difficult is when you have to operate Mike in a comeback situation where you have to air the ball out every single play it stresses your offensive line it stresses your quarterback it stresses your Playmakers it is just a really difficult way to play offensive football in the NFL and they've got to do it really for the remainder of this half [Applause] [Applause] so first and 10 now they'll start from the [Applause] 22 the drive begins with a run and it's home he'll struggle to get back to the line of scrimmage maybe he gets a yard out of that one it's second down to throw is Rogers and that's going to be incomplete coverage was good that time the contact jarring the ball loose and forcing third down he was looking for Malachi Corley now it's going to be third down Rogers and he'll be taken down down all the way up past the 45 25 yds the pickup there good for a Jets first down really nice throw downfield on that conversion brings up a new set of downs and defensively Mike this feels like desperation mode if you allow them to finish this drive with a touchdown this game feels all but over Rogers on first down a throw left side taken in by Wilson this is a great example here of just not getting too complicated as an offensive coordinator who's one of your best players on the field and how do you get the ball in his hands here's a second and three fourth coming to the air once more it's Rogers next to the right side he's got py and they bring him down but not until they get inside the 30 yd line 17 yds that time for number 17 similar to a tight end the slot receiver is often considered the safety blanket he makes all the difficult catches tends to be a little bit more around the line of scrimmage and so far today he's certainly lived up to that reputation [Applause] they will run it over center with Paul he'll be stack up at the line of scrimmage no gain on the play all the qualities that make a good safety are seen on display on this play speed Pursuit and then the intensity and the strength at the point of contact for the tackle to keep this ball carrier to No Gain that is a complete safety play off the play fake Rogers that's to the left side pulled in by coner and he will score Tyler cocklin touchdown New York and he continues to remain on fire that is a rare NFL day five touchdown pass his throw and Mike at this point the defense just looks completely lost out there I mean they have no answers whatsoever giving up the fifth touchdown pass of this ball game what is now zerline on to add the extra [Applause] point the kick is good and the Jets add on to their already sizable lead [Applause] [Music] the kickoff team is out on the field and we're back to it as the kicks away Spears now to return it he'll wind up getting this all the way to the 45 yd line the home team's offense getting things in order as they Trot out for this next possession they'll start with great field position up at their 45 from the gun they'll give it it's holler and they're going to work this down inside the 45 13 yds to start that drive and a quick first down this is one of those cases where having high-end speed in the back field can be such a game Cher the offensive linemen don't need to hold their blocks quite as long you give this guy a little bit of a crease and man he is gone they'll go back back to Pard on first down and he'll be brought down on what will be the final Act here in this third quarter so we are through three we'll return with more after this this is the NFL on EA Sports [Applause] [Music] [Applause] a second down throw here for Levis and this one is intercepted it's DJ Reed he works free great side we saw it earlier the defense on the quarterback with the earlier interception and now Greg not only do they pick him they turn it into a pick six and Mike the reality is this has just been a bad first half throwing the football I mean not only is it a second interception but this time the defense gets their hands on the ball and they're able to take it all the way back for the pick six [Applause] extra point try now for [Applause] zurlo he's got it and the Jets will add one more onto their big lead [Applause] both teams ready to go once more as the kicks away Spears now to return turn it and he'll work this one past the 25 to right about the 28 yd line the offense headed back out captained of course by their quarterback and this defense has really had their way so far intercepting him twice forced into a number of bad throws and generally the D has just made it tough to operate all game long [Applause] Levis to throw it here on first down oh and a short throw there but it's going to end up incomplete that's a pass you say he should have had in instead he does not and it brings up second down often times it's the wide open ones that are the hardest to catch it seems like the ball is in the air forever you start overthinking it you start really making more of it than what you should and you let it slip away throwing on second down Levis he's going to get it to okono and a good job rallying to the football holding just a gain of a yard and sets up third down really well done here by the defense Mike executing this zone defense and they've got to be able to pattern read you're not just going to drop back to a spot and just play like a robot based on what the receivers do off the line the Defenders have different rules of where their zones moveed to well they had that one and this drive is over before it can start he's swallowed up to Force fourth down that's a prototypical coverage sack all 11 guys on the field doing their job starts with sound backend coverage nowhere to go quick with the ball the quarterback has no chance but to extend the play look for something late developing downfield that was all the time this front needed to chase him down and bring him down for a sack the Titans punching unit comes out to the field as he'll hit this from just outside of his own goal [Applause] line This kick hangs up and a fair catch will be taken beyond the 35 yd line the Jets offense ready for this next possession hey Greg this has been something to watch let's go through some of these highlights touchdown after touchdown after touchdown and this is one of those games where dreams are reality Mike and you just can't ever predict when you're going to have a game like today where just every play call every ball that you throw every option that you have downfield is wide open and productive it's it's pretty incredible the ability for them to continue to have their way with this defense because barring some sort of change from this secondary where they come up with some answers I don't even think they're done scoring just yet a here's Hall and that one shut down pretty quickly he'll get back to the line of scrimmage nothing more you want to see linebackers play downhill Mike meaning there's not a lot of side to side Pursuit they're attacking the line of scrimmage attacking the ball carrier that's exactly what we saw out of this guy here he's able to make the stop at the line of scrimmage and keep it to no game second down Rogers over the middle that's the tight end conl and nice work there after the catch he's a little short of the first down after a gain of [Applause] seven third and short yardage it's Rob and this one's going to be intercepted it's lerus Snee and the Titans are going to take possession they've got it at their own 42 so this is where an offensive play caller needs to come to the rescue of this quarterback because this defense they're on to they've got two picks they're starting to pick up on your Tendencies they're shifting guys over to counter them now you've got to add some wrinkles now you've got to throw them a curveball and try to shift back some of that advantage to your side of the ball the home team's offense ready to see what they can do things not looking good but see if they get the turnar around going here they'll start this drive with first down [Applause] from the gun it's Levis that's deep looking for boy and that ball led him too far maybe too wide Out of Bounds incompl complete Tyler Boyd was the intended target for that one and it'll be second down well not exactly breaking news here Mike they got speed on the perimeter that just not a lot of teams in the NFL have so even though that ball Falls incomplete I think they have to continue to do it continue to pressure this defense and make them defend the entire field cuz as they're worried about him running by him there is a lot of space open underneath it's a pickup of 12 that's good for a Titan first down now this is the epitome of a really short throw and a really nice run after catch and listen for a quarterback it all counts the same you don't always have to throw the ball down field to generate explosive plays and these drag routes can be very very effective and he slides and covers up at the end avoids the hit and picked up decent yardage along the way well give him some credit initially that looked like it was going to be a sack he's able to escape the pressure and get away picks up a little bit of yardage but at least he avoids taking that shot the tight end okono is in motion on second down L connecting with his tight end doona when you put plays like this on tape it sends a message to every Defender across the league when you play this offense and this guy has the ball you better bring it when you come to contact him cuz if not you're going to be on the wrong end of it third and five Levis to [Applause] throw and that is incomplete pretty clear approach here Mike you're just trying to take advantage of the size of your tight end versus a smaller Defender and you're just saying box him out and go up for an offensive rebound and get the ball at its highest point this case it falls incomplete but if they continue to get that match up this quarterback's not going to shy away from giving his big tight end a shot that's going to be caught and he's not going to get away they get him down right after the catch Great Rally to the ball to force a turnover on Downs you find yourself down big it's the fourth quarter there's really no choice but to go for this at this point but once again this defense they're up to the task and they come through yet again with a huge stop the Jets offense ready to get back to work this one appears to be safe in hand it has been a clinical performance to this point now they'll try to finish up strong shotgun snap and a give to Hall and he'll take this forward for about three it's second down [Applause] he'll go again with hul and nothing on that one back to the line of scrimmage and that is it what makes great linebackers stand out from the pack is their instincts and their Vision in this case the linebacker has his keys brings him right where the ball is going and he's able to make a play at the point of attack and keep this to a no game on third down here's Hall oo give him 14 on that one and the Jets have a first down here's a case of an offense just piling on you're really imposing your will on the defense everyone in the stadium knows you're going to run it the defense knows it you know it and no matter what they do they have no answers whatsoever on first down they go right back to Hall and this time they are ready for him it'll be throw for a loss no big game that carry it's second down every team makes an emphasis on winning first down but as a defense when you're able to take them back for a loss second and long you can really become more of a pass Centric defense and really tips the scales into your favor so two minutes to play here in the second half Greg and IB back on EA Sports after this so they go backwards on first down here's second and 13 another run here with Paul so when you're evaluating the impact of a team's Run game like I think it's important at the end of the game to look back and say okay how many yards did they run for but more importantly when did those yards come did I run for those yards in the fourth quarter which typically means I had to lead that's the sign of a successful Run game as opposed to getting a lot of meaningless yards early in the game Conlin goes in motion he'll try to run for it with Hall he's got nowhere to go the defensive front controlling the line of scrimmage there that's going to bring up fourth down we've seen this back have his way with this defense all game long Mike he's up over a 100 yards for the game but this time the defense said we've had enough they sold out to stop him they hold him to to no game a field goal no gimme from this distance they'll go on fourth down they're going to go and it's Hall and he's going to have a Jets first down they manag to convert that'll keep the drive alive this play should always end up converting a fourth down especially at this distance but you can't tell me there weren't some nerves on that sideline as they sent that play in to snap it but fortunately nothing to worry about the offense gets it done so this one a win for the visiting Jets they got out of the gates Hut ran out to the big first quarter lead did not look back as they Cruise in this one so that'll just about do it for Greg Olen and our entire team I'm Mike
