roll and on the mound in this one Brady singer how about a scouting report on him anytime you have five pitches to work with on the M that repertoire can be a real weapon in terms of keeping hits off balance man it's it's one of those things that I'm going to be looking for in this one does he have a feel for all of those pitches or is he just able to get one or two over in the strike zone where he wants now it's tough to do to be able to command all those pitches this one's into the Outfield could be extra bases safe it's second with a leadoff double well that'll make you feel good as a hitter right there just a solid swing right there caught it out FR and ripped it into the outfield for the base hit those always feel great here's Andre [Applause] Jimenez man it's second and another ball [Applause] the pitch just off the outside edge three and one three balls one strike and ball for to a board maybe a little loss of focus on the mound right there pretty much gifted in first base with a quick free pass now it's Jose Ramirez and he takes one right on the black and now to a two the pitch still two and two after the foul ball first and second no outs and we're just getting started here in the top of the [Applause] first he gets to it with a slide over to First and they get the out here's the Guardians lineup now we could be in for a power showcase today with the wind blowing out a lot of lift and separate Chris we know hitters are in this era definitely trying to hit the ball in the air regardless of the conditions but I think even a little more so there's margin for error if you can get the ball up in the air so you know you'll see at times I'm sure with two strikes what looks like a half swing that can get out of the ballpark with a hitter who's got decent [Applause] B righty to the plate BS it back with two strikes [Applause] on the ground out to short Whit tosses across the first but the go-ahead Run comes in to score that the right will Bren will Brennan digs in for the Guardians Cleveland up run looking for more lots of pitches throwing in this first inning and it's it's kind of that nightmare scenario for starting pitching but you know what it's still early enough he can settle in he can get some length if he just clean up that one ripped left field and no one can get there runner from second crosses the plate it's two nothing and he's got a double love how he let that ball travel trust it his hands nice job of going the other [Applause] way here's Lane Thomas man on second two down and it is two and [Applause] one two outs nope number 10 on deck for the Guardians here comes a pitch swinging a foul straight back finish tough start for him so far already at 30 pitches here in the first Hot Shot to first base and he snags it to in the inning but two runs for him and they jump ahead on to the bottom of the first it's the Guardians 2 KC coming to back back here at cofman stadium and on the mound for Cleveland in this one Tanner BBY what do we have on him four pitch guy he's got some options to work with in terms of keeping hitters off balance so we'll see how he decides to utilize those weapons through this St here and whether or not he's able to mix them in early or if he wants to hold something back a little bit later maybe second third time through the order and give them something they haven't seen it's tough when you know a guy's got that in his back pocket as a hitter you really have to stay on your toes seems like he got exactly what he was looking for right there everyone's trying to elevate the ball in today's game but if you can hit a ball that hard on the ground it's going to find some holes and now they've got some speed on first so we'll see if they try to get him into motion now here's Bobby Whit [Applause] Jr and the pitch run around the goal pitch in for a strike save it second and that was not close really nice swipe of second right there and he knew he had to get a really good jump on the pitcher because that catcher can make up some time man such a good catch and throw guy behind the dish nice job right there but he just beat [Applause] it the onew and a slinging a miss one out and Chris that's a way to neutralize his speed by keeping him off base and defense breathes a s relief because he puts pressure on everyone if he can put the ball in play but that's how you do it keep him off balance get him out of there and deal with the next guy good eye on that spot as a pitcher you know the runner on second is ready to push things with his speed a base hit it's probably going to be a big run so you really have to execute on the M some real good life going through the zone that one bing checks the runner and he's back in safely and a pitch Runner takes off swing in a miss out at third and that ends the inning when you get thrown out at third with two outs you kind of want to keep on running not a great decision there as it ends the inning back here in Kansas City second inning set to go so in now for Cleveland number 10 that's a base hit so Runner a board to start the [Applause] inning man those are the types of hits where you don't feel any vibration in your hands whatsoever such a good feeling other than ripping one into the gap or blast one over the wall there aren't a whole lot of hits that are more satisfying than a nice Line Drive in center field so that definitely felt good and another [Applause] ball and the pitch in the air right center this is mashed way back and gone a massive home run and they add a couple more it's four nothing and that shot makes their grip on the lead even tighter knew what pitch he wanted to hit spit on some other pitches in this at bad was very patient and it paid off [Applause] here's Brian Rio the wine of the pitch liner face hit and that turns the lineup over stringing them together that's three hits in a row nice job of driving that pitch the other way on line you know hits they take so many reps in the cages working on going to the opposite field and it doesn't always translate into the game but right there it did and he did it perfectly next to hit Steven Quan ball two next pitch is downstairs two balls one strike right through there for a strike with the big bats coming up and a home run already surrendered he's really going to have to execute against these next couple of batters two two now and he grounds one back up the middle here's one on the play dou play sometimes double plays get turned so quickly that you don't really get to appreciate all of the finer details and how these guys execute them right there really nice footwork and a good feed to Second was the key to pulling it off two down nobody on ground ball up the middle and that chance handled fires to first on the run in time got him and that'll do it but two come across to score in the inning courtesy of this two run Homer it's now a 4 nothing ball game Major League Baseball is on the show and we're back we head to the bottom of the second and here is Salvador Perez Salvador perz kicks andos Dives but it kicks off his glow no throw and the defense comes away with [Applause] nothing batting the third B now it's Paul D young up to the plate young now this team is definitely looking for a big swing of the bat right here try to close that Gap but you know at the very least if you could find a way to manufacture that run from first it feels like it's really important to getting back into this ball game the pitch so a foul ball makes it one and two righty delivers swing and a miss struck him [Applause] out man it first and to the plate for Kansas City MJ Melendez double play ball to Second Jimenez good feed that's one on the first double play and that's the inning no runs one hit no errors and no one left we played two full Guardians four and the Royals nothing on to the third inning now the third baseman Jose Ramirez Jose Ramirez here's one1 it's been a rough start on the M for this guy this third inning so important for him to get on track Turn the Page settle in do all those things you need to do to give your team a little bit of length in this [Applause] one warning track wall and you can touch them all baseball man that was blasted to the moon and they add a run it's five zip he absolutely crushed that one no doubt about that one boo we knew it wasn't coming back that one was a hanger and pitchers typically don't get away with making a mistake like that and right there he made him pay [Applause] here's Josh Naylor the pitch that one ripped left field way back there back gone he'll Circle to Bases it's six nothing that's their third home run of the game they're having a lot of fun at the plate in this one they've got the long ball working for for them on autopilot backto back Jacks and this club is fired up right now boo I mean this is the kind of thing where you really start to notice hitters in a lineup feeding off each other and the collective confidence just continues to grow Chris bich gets the ball now and they felt it was time to bring on a left-handed reliever from the pin with the Lefty hitter coming up I think it's a good move I know I never liked when opposing teams did that to [Applause] me and now the right fielder will Brennan the 1-1 swing and a miss and that's strike two one ball two strikes spoils the two- strike pitch and he'll see another the Guardians up big in this one we're here in the top half of inning number three just missed activity in the bullpen Sam long a lefty looks to be getting himself ready Hernandez getting cranked up as well at the belt and fires got him looking that's a strike out I can't argue with that one and clearly he was looking for something else anything but the breaking ball it's a great pitch to hit right there if you're looking for it and kind of a gift in a two- strike count but sometimes you just get fooled and you got to tip your cap still only one out here in the inning the one- one is fouled off you can see was trying to stay back long enough to handle the off speed pitch but just a little Tardy on the fast ball the high heat pass him that's a strike out thought it was a pretty good pitch top of the strike zone we're seeing more fast balls in that location hitters especially with two strikes have to be ready to pull the [Music] trigger here's a rip to short but he's there for the third out but two round Trippers in this inning the long ball was working it's now a six nothing ball game and welcome back to the ballpark as we go to the last of the third so up now for Kansas City Freddy fine so now one and two this is one of those times when you want to be aggressive go ahead and Pitch the contact let the defense work behind you you've got a nice comfortable lead don't try to be to F swings and misses on the fast up in the zone for the strikeout Bo gets talked about a lot but a good high fast in a two strike situation it's just become such a problem for hitters in more recent years with all of the emphasis by pitchers on developing that spin rate having a good grip on the baseball those High fast balls they kind of look like to The Hitter that they're Rising even though they're not but they're not decreasing in velocity and spin rate so very difficult to get the barrel on one down base is empty cuts and misses it's a strike out well that's always the key to effective pitching is getting ahead in the count and as a pitcher it really allows you to start expanding The Zone hit become defensive and all of a sudden that plate starts to get really wide and what happens is because of the the pressure you end up committing to a pitch as a batter before you recognize what it is and that's what leads to the strikeout kicks and fires and it's fou [Applause] away that one misses three and two now got him looking as the fast ball runs back over the inside corner Royals go down one two three they still find themselves down six zip as we go to the top of the fourth B at the plate now that smash toward Center isbel makes the grab and there's one away ran roio digs in for the Guardians one down base is empty bounced up the middle sends it to Perez and a couple of quick outs left so the lineup flips over Steven Quan digs in for the Guardians two out Bas is [Applause] empty that misses and the count is three and one three balls one strike pulls that one foul finish him [Applause] and he deals fouled off again and it remains three and [Applause] two ripped on a line Blanco makes the catch and that'll do it the Guardians go down in order they lead it though six zip back here at coffin Stadium John chabby and Chris Singleton and leading off the bottom of the fourth drone Blanco and another ball well these Royals as this game goes on have to be more disciplined at the pl they're chasing a lot of pitches outside the zone and those chases are turning into a bunch of outs can they turn that around and stay within the Zone we'll see but I think they have to swings through it and that's a strike out quite the start to this game on the mound looking very dangerous to these hitter seven punch outs already so this lineup hasn't had much success trying to figure him out I'm impressed with what we're seeing here Bobby Wick Jr steps in for the Royals and the rander deals Cho to Third and he picks it up in foul territory the wi to kick the pitch swings through that and it's a strike out two gone well right now he's in cruise control autopilot just dominating these hitters doesn't look like it's a fun at bat and all of a sudden BEC in awe this guy in the mound somebody's got to break this thing up that's five straight strike outs got to put a ball in play and that's in the I can't play around with him here see sixun lead at this point got to attack hitters even if you give up a solo shot Salvador Perez on deck for the Royals to the right side he gets there with the slide nicely done for the out KC down in order still up against a six nothing deficit back here in Kansas City now it's the second baseman Andre Jimenez andrez left-and hitter Waits headed towards the corner Melendez going after it huls it in for the out up next for Cleveland the third Bas here's Jose Ramirez this kind of lead he can swing freely try to hit the ball out of the park do what he loves to do B is empty one away and we're at the top of the fif in the air out towards Right Center on his way over caral it two away and now it's Josh n ER two outs that Clips the corner two outs and a chance to put up a zero on the scoreboard here and that's not something that's come easy for this staff in this one and that one is inside [Applause] [Applause] two down nobody on lifted in the air right center field isbel sizing this one up he's there he's got and that'll do it [Applause] and we're back and here's the first baseman Salvador Perez Salvador line and the pitch swing and a miss slider right there pitching well but not throwing a ton of first pitch strikes usually doesn't work out for success but you can never predict baseball two two on the way swing and a ball popped up makes the catch for the out and there's one down notice how they're swinging too early or too late that's a timing problem they need to guess right on a few of those pitches and I mean make an educated guess here's the third baseman Paul D young the Royals with a lot of ground to make up last half of inning number five swag and a popup foul out of play off to the right side that'll find the stands swing and a miss got him to go up the left ladder for the K really love the pitch sequence right there I'm telling you what pitcher and catcher on the same page right now sold her down to their final out MJ Melendez steps in for the Royals wouldn't chase that [Applause] time good eye right there here's an opportunity to do some damage and perhaps unlock this offense 3-1 count be ready to turn on a fast ball and here it comes and that one fouled off looking sharp just a strike away from five shed out Innings the Royals down to their final strike and he walked him it's tough after falling behind a hitter two balls and no strikes but now at least he gets a fresh start against a new batter but he needs to get back into the strike zone and start pitching with conviction the pitch [Applause] [Applause] hey on the ground and this should do it throw to first ball game and the Guardians take this one in a blowout sometimes road trips can be tough you're away from your family but when you can win silence that opposing crowd makes things just
