right by but we're already at Travers day beautiful day up here very comfortable temperatures it's been sunny all morning a lot of activity out here it's starting to to even out though as uh we are getting closer to post time gates open just a few minutes ago they opened at 9 o'clock again if you're headed and while supplies last and who knows that may not be long on uh Travers day but uh Gates BNC uh supposedly uh not supposedly there will be uh torpedo Anna posters available but uh Ken M PE when I talked to him yesterday said torpedo and a hats as well but again while supplies last and given that the gates open um we'll we'll you know I'm not going to guarantee anything but that was the game plan for today uh let me see if I can quickly yet I mentioned it earlier uh first post today is 1120 and don't forget they have five pick FES race One race three race five race seven race nine pick fives they're pick fours in the second the fourth the sixth uh the 10th and the 11th pick six starts in race number uh eight today late pick five starts in race number nine so keep that in mind for uh this afternoon all right little bit later on we'll be joined by our friend Ron Nicollet saw him at the track yesterday I said come on over we haven't had Ron sit in for a couple of years now so glad to have him join us in a few but first I bounced around the track the backside over the last couple of days got some uh thoughts just quick hitters with connections for each of the Travers Runners either a trainer or a jockey so I I have it broken up into a couple of tape pieces I'll I'll come back on before the next one but in this opening tape piece Kenny mCP we'll talk some torpedo Anna uh Chad Brown talks a little bit about Sierra Leon uh coming out of the the uh second in the Jim Dandy third in the balmont uh second closeup second in the Kentucky Derby won the Blu grass $2 million in the bank uh looking to break through though uh here against the three-year-olds later in the season in the Travers uh Chad also will talk about unmatched wisdom three for three so far and won the kurlin also coming out of the Colin is Corporate power and we'll have Javier Castle talk about that one unmatched wisdom went out took the lead in the kland LED all the way around corporate power was kind of up against a little bit chasing castalano refers to that so up next uh again for uh post positions numbers one through four in the Traverse torpedo and a Sierra Leon unmeshed wisdom and corporate power here's just some quick thoughts from the con connections they're at the top of the stretch and thorpedo Anda has a three-length lead candid is trying her best to close the gap and intricate picking it up from behind but it's all thorpedo Anna the leader of the division is simply spectacular in the Coaching Club American Oaks she Win For Fun by four and a half lengths over candied intricate third Leslie's Rose was fourth I'm a trainer perspective last week and a half how's she been doing how she coming to the race I've never seen her better I mean we planned a little gate work on Wednesday which um we were supposed to gallop her to gate she actually end up Galloping two miles Danny Danny Ramsey my main Rider had a little trouble getting getting her pulled up cuz she's so strong but she knocked out the feed tub that night by 9:00 last night she did at nine o00 too I mean she's just doing super and this is one of those things we watch when when a horse is getting ready how well they're eating and she's she's as good as I've ever seen her I mean I'm excited um Pace scenario what are you expecting I'm going to leave it up to Brian I mean looks like there's three or four uh speed horses in there but she's very tactical she'll do whatever you ask her to do she's she'll raid off speed but I think from the inside you got to let her if she breaks well you got to let her run to the first turn but like I said it's up to Brian completely and um certainly nothing I can control so what are your expectations I expect her to win matter of fact I I wouldn't be surprised if she won easy but she's doing that good I'm you know of course I'm horse trainer I'm an optimist so you don't go into these things expecting to lose but she's so special to be around it's been a real magical trip with her and and hopefully it's a long ride and then tomorrow you know they're going to be a big hat giveaway here I mean they're going to be giving away hats left and right I mean I've got a thousand torpedo Ana hats in my office right here in Saratoga right now and I think there's several thousand more that are going to land here and then posters as well so she's going to be well represented um otherwise and Sierra Leon is launching his bid he's coming swiftly on the outside here comes Sierra Leon and The Showdown we've been waiting for fierceness drifts out Sierra Leon is coming at him and in between between them baton down is running the race of his life Sierra Leon hugs the rail fierceness though still has the lead at the 16th pole they'll come for the wire and it's still fierceness fierceness is going to hold on fierceness has won the Jim Dandy presented by mahagan Sun under a perfect ride from Johnny Velasquez Sierra Leon ran his heart out and those two dominated with batten down finishing third I see him training very consistent he's given us no problems in the morning I thought his last race was good and uh i' he he's even graduated into working alone recently which is good to see so um I feel like he's as good as he's ever been mentally what are your expect expectations Saturday I I expect him to run another good race he's been very very consistent he shows up every time and if he gets the right pace to set up um for him and the tracks playing fair and he should have a good chance in there three quarters in 112 and three unmatched wisdom corporate power they come to the top of the stretch together unmatched wisdom opens up a length corporate power took a shot but is now shifting about in second timeout picking up some momentum third inside the eighth pole unmatched wisdom three-length lead corporate power trying his best unmatched wisdom corporate power unmatched wisdom remains undefeated with a wire-to-wire win in the kin yeah I I thought the kin was a good race he ended up on the lead I I don't think that's his preferred way of running uh the jockey didn't feel either but it was you know there was no speed in the race he did it in Workman like fashion and and got the experience he needed got around two turns which is good to see and um the race was it really moved him forward so it's a huge step up he's going to get a Target it looks like he'll be close though and if he gets a a good Target and saves ground throughout the race I think he's got a chance to bring an upset here uh last two races were nice races at a mile and an e any concerns about the mile and a quarter no he's always trained like he want a mile and a quarter since he was a young horse and now he's going to get his chance just overall how do you expect the pace to play out un paper you'd you you'd think that even though it's not a big fi there's a strong could be a strong Pace in here there's some speed horses there's there's horses in this race that their best Chan is to go and if they don't then they're not trying to win um so um you know it's nice to have a warse with some positional speed a gun match wisdom to complement our close of Si Leone hopefully one of them's been up to win unmatched wisdom corporate power unmatched wisdom remains undefeated with a wire to wire win in the kland corporate power was second corporate power he he did such a great race the last time in the cor State race he did really well it was on M the dynamic and the race it was completely different didn't have a much SP the race and I had to follow and Chase the hsees the PAC maker the horse winning in the race and I think it was little bit difficult to my horse to change the triy to get to or to the winner and still really Saied the way he did in the race he finished second with all all the you know all the the races the way he folded the race but the Trav is going to be completely different Dynamic it's going to be a little more horses it's going to be top horses in the country the bester on the country it's going to be a little bit more H Pace in the race I think it's going to be better for my horse because my horse is come from behind horse he have a extra distance little bit m a quarter my hor is about cly we all know that the horse can reach out the long distance the better and I think I'm looking forward for the travel welcome back uh took you through uh horses one through four there uh in the Travers we will now line up horses 5 through eight um Junior Alvarado uh was on the show the other day so if you missed that he was on the show I think Thursday maybe wedes Wednesday or Thursday if you missed that uh pulled up because he had a couple of minutes during the interview fun interview if you missed it uh maybe go over on our YouTube page Capital tv YouTube page pull up the show from uh it was Wednesday um but he had a minute or so where he talked a little bit about baton down who two starts back one the Ohio Derby on the front end last time was kind of chasing in the Jim Dandy and Junior kind of felt like you know the the front end maybe more the the game plan for uh Saturday so he's going to talk a little bit about bat and down talk to Whit be Beckman uh about honor Marie and you'll you will see I pulled up a replay finished up the two-year-old season in fine fashion with a winning the Kentucky Jockey Club as a three-year-old this year has shown uh you know some of that Talent again uh but with uh last scene trying the Bellmont Stakes ran fourth there laid off from that until uh today in the Travers with uh honor Marie DOR Danny garan had a fun interview with him talking a little bit about Doro who now has won the Belmont and the hasell in the last two starts and Todd Pletcher gives us an update on fierceness who again has that quirky good bed good bed kind of a record but I think Todd as you would expect from the trainer is not necessarily buying into that so we'll hear a little bit on his thoughts on fierceness all that next looked like the Ohio Derby had kind of a light bulb moment to it um as they say comes in off the the third and the Jim Dy but your thoughts on baton down and the Travers you know bat and down is it's a horse who very similar to Tacos they're they're very they're very their own mind they want to do their things their own way and and and you know very Corky horses to ride H but I think you know I thought I talked to Bill we tried to do something last night which got kind of stuck a little bit behind the pace and I think everything was perfect I just don't think that's what he wants to do you know when I move by the 516 he can of make a little move into first n and then he can of put his head up and I knew at that point I wasn't going to go by the horse so we're going to go to what I think he's been doing the best we been in the lead and and and and and that's what we're going to shoot for for the Trevor you know we know he can handle the distance he PR impressive B A and chill down so different company of course but I think he's a who who likes to be in the lead he gets aggressive in the lead and and and he just get PA Anam Marie comes alive with a wide sweeping move it's wide open top of the stretch stretch dried trying to hang tough here's Anam Marie with a sweeping move on the far outside and real men violin punches through toward the rail one for long to go honor Marie's up for a short lead stretch ride fights on Real Men violin down toward the rail they're coming to the finish and honor Marie from off the pace to score by two yeah I mean we kind of had this on the radar from the G so yeah we uh didn't know if a prep was going to be uh something he was going to fall into but I feel like that was just the right way to do it just March right in Traverse how the horse been working and coming into Saturday good good he's had a great you know consistent work pattern all the way up to it you know changing from you know Churchill up here he continued to kind of move forward so we're hoping he takes the next big step tomorrow what are the expectations expectations are he'll run his race and you know I hate to even put it out there but I just like to get him out of the gate cleanly and into that first turn with little or no uh you know it's mind frame confidently handled switches leads and gets the que to go door knock is trying hard but he's left behind in second fighting back from the inside mind frame door knock coming back they're at it again the two bellot first and second place finishers one two and dooro stubborn dooro wins the hasco well you know he's lightly racing him again the year you know we after running the rimson we waited for the fountain you and then you know we missed some training coming out of the fountain you with the foot thing uh kind of needed the Blu grass we tried rening that was a debacle uh I take full credit for that decision and uh went to the derby and we just got a bad post and he was eliminated so I mean I can't say that he's you know he's a pretty talented horse I mean anytime you beat Sierra the own you have to run super hard when we beat him in the rimson uh you know I think that was probably one of the best races of the year uh last year and I mean that's a thrilling race to watch and you like you said you know if you can beat Sarah Leon you're going to win a lot of grade ones uh we're just hoping we can beat him one more time uh you were part of the the you purchased the horse and how gratifying is it now to have him live up to those expectations well you know at once you know obviously at one stage I own part of him so uh you know I kind of stuck my foot in my mouth uh two months before we ever ran up here last summer I said it's the best horse di train and maybe one of the best horses I ever worked with and you know I took a lot of heat for that for a long time but uh now everybody's off of that um but U you know it is what it is uh he's a super talented horse uh we're just lucky we're the ones that have him I'm lucky I'm the guy that trains him you can be in this game your whole life and dream of a horse like this but once you get one you have to not mess it up too you know you have to make all the right decisions and do everything right and uh I'm really focused on him and uh it's probably hurting a lot of things in going on but uh you know this situation right now this is something special for me to be a part of and we have to make all the right decisions with him so how's he working and what your expectations I mean he breeed well his last two Works uh he's doing as good as he was going into the Belmont and the high scho we love how he's doing uh you know it's hard to win three grade ones in a row the last horse to win these three races were was Point given he's in the Hall of Fame uh you know we're trying to do Hall of Fame stuff if he can win this and uh I think it's the best Travers I've seen in 10 12 years I mean this is a seriously good race I think uh you know obviously there's five horses that can win it and five legit legitimate good horses I mean Fier as a champion like I said c leó is always the horse you have to worry about beating because he's he shows up every time uh Kenny mcp's doing a lot of chirping we're proud of him hope it works out for him and uh you know it's a Philly taking on the boys she's really super talented so uh we're just all you know we're look at the Holy Bull got roughed up pretty badly at the start and you know I think it was a better race than what was on paper so the Derby's funny race he's ending a hot Pace like a lot of the other horses that were involved in that he just didn't have anything left in the end um originally you were planning to pop to the Pennsylvania Derby what are your thoughts now that he wound up in the Travers horse is doing too well he's uh rebounded out of the jimm Dandy in great shape I think he's actually put on weight since the race is simply training too well not to take a shot on the Travers what are your expectations on Saturday expect a good performance from him what are your expectations for the pace scenario on Saturday well I mean you can only do what you you're going to do with your horse you can't project what other people are going to do with theirs but uh you know I mean I think door knock's established he likes to be involved and I think the Philly will be involved so you before the break we are joined Now by our friend Ron nicoletti I saw him over on the front side yesterday and I said it's been too long since we've had you sit in here so I had him come over on Travers morning Ron good morning good morning pleas what a day this day you coming from Florida this is uh having made for you know now the earlier we were Florida well I say Florida like not not your but we had heat and humidity earlier but the last week or so it's been gorgeous the temperatures perfect sunny day it looks like it's going to be a great Travers day I was talking to you you know as I say I saw you on the front side talking to you when you sat down you said you had a nice day yesterday thanks to saffy Joseph saffy Joseph you know turn hit all the angles I like so I ended up getting 26 bucks and you what while to get lucky had a good day yesterday and uh you know you just try and figure out some angles and see how it works yeah um and speaking of safy I was looking up uh you know you're you're down at golf stream all year long our friend Brian Edo Samantha Perry and what not uh folks can follow your picks over on Twitter as well the golf stream picks and I was looking up some of the step I had safy sit in here earlier I had Jose D'Angelo sit in here earlier they're sitting onew on the uh the trainer standings but safy has a 50 win lead GE yeah I mean just it's just amazing so but you know what the fun is so you you got to sort of put a line not a line through it you look who's second third and fourth because that's where it's same thing with the jocks I mean I think Edgard IAS is gonna has a chance you know that the meats are different now but he's got aund last I saw 106 108 wins you know so you make fun you know you make you this will be fun he could break the record everybody else underneath it's a dog fight uh and the interesting it one underneath was rayen Van dijk who uh was you know out in California for a number of years came to golf stream kind of seemed like maybe the first couple of weeks there was experimenting and seemed to have liked it he's doing okay there now he's doing okay he's a good Rider you know you know what to expect he was two for whatever the heck he was you know but you know he's judged the pace perfectly you can see he's a good Ro I he get something win some races just right at the wi so I was impressed with him yeah I think uh he came originally because I think he was tied in with safy a little bit and I said earlier um Mike Smith came up here and W one for safy Stakes RAC and Mike hadn't ridden here in quite a while or won a stakes and I said in the winter Circle Why'd You Come he said saffy called and then yesterday he won the Charles toown Oaks with sappy I'm sure it was a sappy call again but yeah so sappy Sappy's having a pretty good summer uh certainly all around also wanted to mention uh this is kind of interesting champ I ship meet this year opens up on Thanksgiving little turkey to kick off the Thanksgiving meet a little strange there if you know we go four days a week in December which actually starts November 29th that first week it's four days then we go to the five days and uh in uh all of January February March and of course I had the Pegasus World Cup is on January 25th which is the one of the Signature Events I don't want to take anything away from the Florida Derby yeah uh and the Florida Derby may have a little say in in today's Traverse Florida Derby will go uh March 29th we were down for the Holy Bull uh this past year I'm not sure when we'll make our trip down uh but uh certainly look I'd like to go down will it be like a turkey dinner do you think in the upstairs in the you come to my house that I love turkey turkeyy is my favorite I eat turkey like three days a week regardless but when you can put the whole meal together on Thanksgiving Day I'm all about that uh let's get some thoughts today in the Travers as I said uh you know the the Florida Derby might play into it because uh fierceness was fierceness was fierceness on Florida Derby day he was fierceness again on Jim Dandy day a few weeks ago up here uh in between those two put in kind of a clunker in the Kentucky Derby continuing a good bad good bad pattern by talk to Todd and as you expect the trainer is not quite buying into that he gave an excuse in the Holy Bull excuse in in the Kentucky Derby so he's a player dorno I think is the leader of the division I went with the Philly torpedo Anna she's been working lights out I I think she may in the Coaching Club American o she kind of stopped off the pace I think if she can do that uh this afternoon that may be an interesting strategy and and Kenny mCP is high on her so I went with the Philly what did you see in the drivers I just didn't like the post for the Philly I just saw you know a lot of people say oh door knock's to Lone speed that's not true you can watch him so I just think she's gonna be forced to go out of that you I know it's the distance and all that you know it's not as a it's not like it's a mile in a 16th a mile but I just think she got to go to so much speed now you got unmatch wisdom you got horses are going to go and I think she has to get the position and and you know on paper handicapping 101 when you look up to it it looks like the race sets up for Sierra Leon or Anam Marie or something like that I am going with the horse you talked about first fiercely I think I'm gonna try and buck that Trend have Fier in this wi today and you know I was so impressed with this horse in South Florida and and you know yeah had the clunker you know I'm bad race good race which I follow sometimes when I'm handic I just see this horse I like the post I like the way it's going to come out he can't go to the lead either you know it's the same thing with with torpedo and they go to the lead they're going to get in trouble in there you know you got some speed in here and I think Pace as the old saying goes Pace makes the race and especially this one now with my heart I want torpedo on to win just because it's the thing to do you know I mean who doesn't you know the way I see it I don't know if my pocket's to say that but my heart certainly does also on the pocket angle and as I said to people over the past couple of days I think I'm going with the Philly they all pointed out and I can't disagree I mean she's three to one on the morning line they're handing out posters you're gonna get people at the track on a day like this who don't normally pay they the poster the Philly I am not sure I'm going to get the the value I would like uh for the Philly I talk about this to Dave grck and everything I said he's the favorite right he said I don't know he sort of thinks that you know s Leon you know she's going to take way more money than she may have if they didn't give the poster out the pink hat you know you don't know how many pink today no I I debate I have a a pink striped shirt I I'm saving that for tomorrow but maybe ibe I should have gone with that since I'm going with the Philly I probably should should have done that but I think it's a really intriguing uh would you agree Doro is the leader on the three-year-old division at this point what what I was so impressed with doru in his last race I thought this horse was done looked like he was GNA Be Fifth and he takes time to change leads and once he changed leads he's like a rocket ship he Chang leads and doing again you know and also like the mental he won't somebody engages him in the spreadsh he won't he won't give up he fooled me last right totally fooled me I was like not high and being perfectly on was well I I mean we were down there for the you know the U the Fountain of Youth uh uh which kind of scratched down and and was a little bit maybe disappointing as far as the the final field but he won it and won it nicely but I think a lot of people coming out of that were a little skeptical skeptical uh but the last couple you won the Belmont you win the hasell and you have the the found the youth on the resume I think he's the leader at this point oh yeah without the doubt and and he made me a Believer you know and I'm going in and I didn't like the spacing between the races you know skipping the you know the the Florida Derby and you know not that I wanted oh gotta be in the Florida Derby just seemed like hey this horse they baby him I was totally wrong to admit it you know and then Danny uh we just showed an interview I did with Danny yesterday the day before and he said you know uh the blueg grass they tried a new strategy he said that didn't work out I'll take the the fall for that and then you know it's just the post position leaving from the one in the the Kentucky Derby didn't work out and never works out so you know he had a couple of legit excuses for those races which again had people kind of scratching their chins and saying is he real but with the breeding you know uh being the The Sibling to Mage uh talked a little bit about uh Danny had actually purchased this horse there was a nice story within the past few days and then sold shares to it I think it's fun also that Jason worth is in he's he's become really nice Ambassador sport definitely he's very excited when they win so it's great that's great more you need more people like that in the game you know and and so there it's a good field it's a fun field I think Kenny did a great thing going with torpedo because it made last week's Alabama better field and this field becomes intriguing as well so lots of great storylines also and looking forward to it uh anything else on the card that just jumped out at you yeah the other the other in in the um jerkings I I like the I like the two horsse in there I just think that speakes is going to run well in that spot I just think you know again you know I I can only B you know base it on what I see and and you know it's I like the B the maiden win at gstream comes back you know wins the allowance up here I'm looking for a little bit of a price I'm going to try and beat the heavy heads in here I mean why heavy heads I mean horses that have had more St so I I'm going play around with that a little bit there the debut one with the triple digit in January Down Golf Stream was very impressive and then kind of validated that on the comeback late aw a while and came back um so it's a big ask and only the third career start but I think he belongs yeah I R in the saddle and you know so why I take a little bit of shot that's the other one that I've got some interest in and you know like I said fierceness I think I'll get four to one I I'm really interested in the trevors to see who the favorite winds up when they go on the gate will it be thorpedo in will it be the door knock I think fness is going to take a little action but I think you could be right too I think it could shake out to get it people like everybody just picking Sierra Leon I how many guys on your show have been picking that just because the way the race is GNA unfold it's interesting very interesting fun edition of the Travers today and always fun to to have Ron nicoletti join us when were you here I'm saying a couple years yeah couple years when you Road your blik oh we should give it a little shout out to your cousin Tom was that the the duo where Tom was telling the story that I still tell that story about uh named his uh Farm Five Oaks and then somebody drove in one day and said these are not oak trees my favorite thing that is a great story There's Tom it's New York M day on and Tom's a breeder yeah uh does Tom have anything going on Sunday New York bread day no might have a couple of horses he bread you know and not running anything you know so but I was at that the farm is fantastic got about seven little babies you know always great to go and just sit there and watch them in the morning so great time uh and yeah that story I tell all that's great uh Ron appreciate the visit uh we got to send it off to the NRA pregame they start early today but we appreciate the visit glad you're in town glad you're feeling good
