to destroy the Cannon as it begins to load up ammunition in 10 minutes for the actual attack on both Islands red and silver put themselves inside an ice ball and roll it down the spiraling ammunition track of zeta's cannon with their allies distracting the Eagles and working to sever the track by reaching and pulling a switch so that the ball flies off and rushes the cannon the plan fails and Zeta and her guards confronted them giving her a chance to fire the weapon Mighty Eagle arrives and makes a desperate attempt to stop Zeta by apologizing to her for abandoning her Zeta brushes him off revealing his real name is Ethan and that her assistant Debbie is their daughter while Zeta is distracted Chuck ties up the weapon using Silver's new invention a very strong string called super string which catches and decelerates the lava balls after Zeta fires them them as the string breaks the hatchlings who finally recovered their eggs along with some piglets who had joined them on their Quest back home passed by eagle island and help grasp the string the lava balls slide back into the cannon destroying it and the base everyone escapes and Mighty Eagle protects Debbie from being crushed by a metal plate redeeming himself to her and Zeta Mighty Eagle and Zeta get married on Bird Island with red as the chief witness and Debbie as the flower girl and the rest of the Birds pigs and Eagles celebrate afterwards red credits silver and the entire team for saving the islands and as a result finds himself even more beloved for his honesty and selflessness and starts a relationship meanwhile the hatchlings discover they have accidentally swapped Zoe's eggs by Mook her eggs so they give them back to their mother who has brought the newly born sisters however as soon as the older hatchlings take their eyes off them the sisters stow away onto the boa constru boat causing the cycle to repeat it's not a ringing defense of artistic quality to say that a movie about pigs and flightless birds that's based on a mobile app game and aimed at small children sometimes gets judged by a different set of Standards than other movies chiefly will they laugh the answer in the case of the original The Angry Birds film was a definite yes and it's even truer for this sequel even though the mix of Skittles colored characters video game looking Graphics obvious needle drop music cues and incessant low brow slapstick butt jokes groin injuries might get tiresome for anyone over the age of say 12 the conception of the original project was also odd though perhaps no odder than that of most of other big budget animated pictures aimed at families the main character red Jason sudakis was a belligerent often physically violent individual sentenced by a judge to undergo Anger Management training a plot line you'd expect to see in a liveaction comedy aimed at grown-ups like well anger management and a lot of the social satire while welcome surely didn't register on most little ones the entire thing felt ungainly and the required emotional catharsis at the end didn't quite feel earned this sequel is more Shenanigans based the plot eventually leads to a combination Heist movie band of Heroes on a military Mission storyline which is more conducive to kid oriented slapstick and lets the project feel less ungainly and lighter on its feet although there's still a fair amount of sexual humor that might be considered inappropriate were there a chance small children would get it the plot picks up from the end of the last one with red being hailed as a hero for rescuing Bird Island from the onslaught of the green pigs who live on an adjacent Island now that he's won the admiration of the other birds red isn't angry anymore but the movie fills that particular vacuum by introducing a lanky bird with a feathered man named Zeta lesle Jones the leader of an ice covered third island that begins a attacking both the birds and the pigs Zeta is tired of living in a glorified freezer and Begins the inevitable catapult War by lobbing a gigantic ice ball the pigs and flightless birds have to set aside their differences to defeat a common enemy a classic plot for a sequel to a movie that was itself at least half of a war movie spoof there are a lot of the expected butt jokes and Malo props and sub who's on first exchanges and all the references to Classic Hollywood movies that you'd expect in this s of project especially the James Bond and Mission Impossible series The Life Aquatic and the Great Escape which appropriately start a character nicknamed the cooler King but things move along at such an agreeably fast clip particularly in the second half when the mission gets underway that it'll be a pleasurable experience for kids and adults alike there's a lot to be said for a movie that finds the heroes sneaking into a supposedly impregnable Place dressed in a giant bird costume that suggests a mascot you'd see at an especially shabby minor league ballpark setting up a potentially bruising fist fight between them and a huge henchmen and resolving it with a breakdance battle the goofier and more random the movie is the better it is and it certainly gets goofier and more random as it goes because this is the sequel everyone was looking forward to the Angry Birds movie came out back in summer 2016 which was already pass the popularity of the app game admittedly Angry Birds was an extremely addicting app app and one of the most popular app games but it was first released way back in 29 when 2016 came around it was already a stretch to release it given that Angry Birds was past its prime and now is there anyone in 2019 still playing the game well maybe turns out Wikipedia informs me that there's 18 different Angry Birds games in the main series as well as seven spin-off games the latest one was released 2 months ago that being angry Bir Birds explore in June 2019 so I guess there's some sort of audience but I went to my app store for my Android tablet and the first Angry Birds game that showed up on the top free app games list was Angry Birds 2 in at no 71 in fact I kept scrolling to see where the others were and out of 5133 games on the list the only other Angry Birds game that made the list was Angry Birds friends at no 316 so yeah it's the perfect time to release a sequel to that Angry Birds movie that came out 3 years ago right it's definitely going to give Sony pictures animation more positive vibes truth be told the Angry Birds movie has almost completely left my mind I remember being one of the few people that watched the initial trailer and thought it could be a fun movie but then the movie itself came out and I got burned pretty hard as it turns out the rest of the world was right when they thought it was a bad idea I remember the movie being a really dirty kid movie that bored the tar out of me but I don't remember much about it I went back and read my review and learned that I spent most of the review complaining about the lack of an interesting plot which makes sense because the game is a Mindless app game where you launch birds at pigs it's not the type of thing that was meant to be adapted into a fulllength movie also in reading that review let's just be glad that movie adaptations of Temple Run Tetris Fruit Ninja Monopoly and settlers of katten ended up not being a thing because I mentioned there in that review that said movies had been announced maybe Hollywood learned their lesson that games without plots shouldn't be turned into movies although not everyone in Hollywood has learned their lesson as Sony pictures animation went on to make the Emoji Movie in 2017 and now have released this movie in 2019 I suppose one could say that Sony animation is like that friend who is still sharing Harlem Shake videos they haven't quite kept up with what they should be doing funny enough the also made Spider-Man into the spider verse last year which now looks more like a fluke than anything I was almost worried there that the Sony animation I knew had disappeared and become a competent Animation Studio who am I supposed to continually make fun of if Sony animation learns how to properly make movies I guess illumination could take that Crown because they've been a train wreck lately when it comes to Quality but it appears that Sony animation is back to their usual selves making awful animated movies for me to make fun of because Angry Birds 2 in is another disaster that I found even more annoying than the original film which is kind of what I was expecting so why did I see it when I knew this would be the case I don't know I tried to come up with multiple excuses in my head while watching but the most honest answer is simply that reviewing movies is what I do and this movie came out on a Tuesday instead of a Friday so when I randomly had a day off that I wasn't expecting I threw in the towel and went into a is showing to get this one over with to give me a jump start on this weekend's movies the plot yeah if 2016 he had an issue with the plot of the first movie 2019 me is in for a world of fun because this movie is completely Bonkers I mean to heck with an Angry Birds movie doing Angry Birds things instead of having evil runchy pigs running around causing the birds to launch themselves at the pigs base they all decide to be friends because an angry purple Eagle upset at the fact that her Beyonce stood her up at their wedding and tired of the fact that she lives on a frozen Island decides that she's going to destroy both the pigs and the bird's Island so that she can take over and use it as her summer paradise instead of you know flying somewhere else maybe in this universe these are just the only two islands in existence giving purple Eagle nowhere else to fly I don't know logic isn't this movie's strong suit I suppose that's not completely necessary in a kid's movie but it would have been nice if the filmmaker showed that they actually cared they just simply opened the box of what to do in a generic kids movie and rolled with it using the first idea suggested to them from one of their 5-year-olds as a loose plot structure while taking lots of inspiration from that awful first movie in hopes to make their bosses at Sony happy the movie didn't have much character development we just gathered together our main characters from the first movie added a few more for style teamed them up with their Pig enemies and sent them all on a random Adventure okay sure I'll backtrack a little bit red our main bird has a bit of development he's so obsessed with his newly found Fame as a hero of Bird Island that he is dead set on doing everything himself instead of working as a team to find a solution and the movie's big lesson is that he learns how to work as a team player instead of having to do everything himself but that's it yet even that feels like generic kid movie stuff and his Arc wasn't even as interesting as in the first movie the rest of the movie is just all of the characters doing things the movie doesn't feel like it has a connected plot it's just a thousand smaller sequences all strung together each of them hoping to spark a reaction from the kids in the audience in fact most of the things that happen in the movie don't even serve a purpose to the overall plot there's even a huge subplot involving a trio of young birds searching for some lost bird eggs that's completely pointless and only Loosely connects to the main plot at the end even most of what our main character do serves little purpose ultimately everything that happens feels extremely juvenile we only spend a few brief minutes at the beginning doing Angry Bird stuff you know Birds launching things at the pigs and vice versa but that almost feels obligatory they just used all of these characters to do random juvenile things every 5 minutes there's a dance sequence with a pop song that last 30 seconds I got the feeling that this was a very expensive movie just because of how much money they had to be paying all of these music studios for the rights to use all of these songs none of them really have a purpose outside being a poppy song for the kids to laugh at if you're ready for your kids to be singing Baby Shark all day there's even a dance off to that song There's also plenty of toilet humor for the young kids to laugh at it's not quite as dirty as the first movie but they still can't help themselves with all the poop fart and PE jokes as well as showing as many Pig and bird butts as they can because you know that's super funny even though pigs and birds don't have humanlike butts these ones do though the movie also thinks it's extremely funny by cracking jokes the entire runtime while practically pausing to wait for a reaction yet I don't think I even laughed once to close this review off I'm going to use an obscure football reference one of the more well-known press conference blowups was with the Cardinal's coach after a loss to the Bears where he yelled they are who we thought they were and we let them off the hook look if you don't know what I'm talking about look it up that was going through my head because I tricked myself into thinking that maybe this movie could surprise me I didn't like the first movie I didn't like the idea of them doing a sequel I didn't like any of the trailers yet I saw the positive score on Rotten Tomatoes currently as 72% with 61 reviews counted and thought that this maybe could be a surprise it wasn't it is what I thought it was going to be and I let It Off The Hook by giving it a chance I have no idea how it has that high of a score I also don't know how so many big name actors got conned into joining this sequel I don't even know how or why this movie exists in the first place outside the fact that Sony animation is stupid enough to think this will make just as much money as the first movie I have to confess I was not a fan of 2016's the Angry Birds movie not that I expected to be since I clearly wasn't the audience and had no clue of the popularity of the original game that spawned The Craze in the First Place the movie just seemed too disconnected and frenetic with little attention to anything resembling a coherent storyline what a difference 3 years make because I have to admit I almost had as good a time as all the kids sitting around me when I saw the sequel The Angry Birds movie to the plot development and storyline are just as chaotic and inconsequential as the first one but the individual gags and comic set pieces are at times inspired and for the most part never less than amusing it is is a wacky fast-paced Delight that reminded me of Chuck Jones and Looney Tunes maybe not at their best to be sure but for these times damn close enough to grab three stars from me it is the kind of movie where blink and you miss bits like one bird reading the bestseller crazy Rich adens you might recall the bird Island occupants of the first film LED by Red the voice of Jason sudakis Chuck Josh Gad and bomb Danny McBride were at odds to say the least with the green Piggies who invaded their space in this film red Chuck bomb Mighty Eagle Peter Dinklage and the addition of Chuck's brainy sister silver Rachel Bloom team with pigs Leonard Bill hater Courtney Aquafina and Tech Pig Sterling K Brown to fight an even bigger threat that brings them together in a mutual effort for survival and the legacy of bird and pig Islands now they are stuck in Frozen conditions far from the Breezy and sunny tropical climate to which they were accustomed this of course would make any bird Angry and instant frozen food setting off in pure kirawa fashion the team is put together to defeat the super weapon and minations of Zeta lesle Jones the purpl necked Eagle villain of this piece who is looking to have her way on her icy Island where she is banished but not above looking for ultimate Creature Comforts there are a boatload of characters to keep straight including Glenn Eugenio derbes Debbie Tiffany hadish is there a movie she isn't in Jerry Pete Davidson and more requiring the vocal talents of the likes of Maya Rudolph Tony hail very funny as mime Nicki Minaj and Lil R howy among others thrown into this amusing stew Sony animation proves itself highly capable of coming up with genuinely funny cartoon Antics that make for a breezy good time that even adults dragged along with their kids will get some laughs from theup Van Orman makes an effective leap to directing in his first feature after lots of success in TV the script has some winning lines and sight gags thanks to writers Peter Akerman is podle and Jonathan E Stewart Voice work across the board is exemplary the producer is John Angry Birds game that made the list was Angry Birds friends at no 316 so yeah it's the perfect time to release a sequel to that Angry Birds movie that came out 3 years ago right it's definitely going to give Sony pictures animation more positive vibes truth be told the Angry Birds movie has almost completely left my mind I remember being one of the few people that watch watched the initial trailer and thought it could be a fun movie but then the movie itself came out and I got burned pretty hard as it turns out the rest of the world was right when they thought it was a bad idea I remember the movie being a really dirty kids movie that bored the tar out of me but I don't remember much about it I went back and read my review and learned that I spent most of the review complaining about the lack of an interesting plot which makes sense because the game is a Mindless app game where you launch birds at pigs it's not the type of that was meant to be adapted into a fulllength movie also in reading that review let's just be glad that movie adaptations of Temple Run Tetris Fruit Ninja Monopoly and settlers of katten ended up not being a thing because I mentioned there in that review that said movies had been announced maybe Hollywood learned their lesson that games without plots shouldn't be turned into movies although not everyone in Hollywood has learned their lesson as Sony pictures animation went on to make the Emoji Movie in 2017 and now have released this movie in 2019 I suppose one could say that Sony animation is like that friend who is still sharing Harlem Shake videos they haven't quite kept up with what they should be doing funny enough they also made Spider-Man into the spider verse last year which now looks more like a fluke than anything I was almost worried there that the Sony animation I knew had disappeared and become a competent Animation Studio who am I supposed to continually make fun of if Sony and animation learns how to properly make movies I guess illumination could take that Crown because they've been a train wreck lately when it comes to Quality but it appears that Sony animation is back to their usual selves making awful animated movies for me to make fun of because Angry Birds 2 in is another disaster that I found even more annoying than the original film which is kind of what I was expecting so why did I see it when I knew this would be the case I don't know I tried to come up with multiple excuses in my head while watching in but the most honest answer is simply that reviewing movies is what I do and this movie came out on a Tuesday instead of a Friday so when I randomly had a day off that I wasn't expecting I threw in the towel and went into a MAA showing to get this one over with to give me a jump start on this weekend's movies the plot yeah if 2016 he had an issue with the plot of the first movie 2019 me is in for a world of fun because this movie is completely Bonkers I mean to heck with an angry Birds movie doing Angry Birds things instead of having evil runchy pigs running around causing the birds to launch themselves at the pig's base they all decide to be friends because an angry purple Eagle upset at the fact that her fiance stood her up at their wedding and tired of the fact that she lives on a frozen Island decides that she's going to destroy both the pigs and the birds Island so that she can take over and use it as her summer paradise instead of you know flying somewhere else maybe in this universe these are just the only only two islands in existence giving purple Eagle nowhere else to fly I don't know logic isn't this movie's strong suit I suppose that's not completely necessary in a kid's movie but it would have been nice if the filmmakers showed that they actually cared they just simply opened the box of what to do in a generic kids movie and rolled with it using the first idea suggested to them from one of their 5-year-olds as a loose plot structure while taking lots of inspiration from that awful first movie in hopes to make their bosses at Sony happy the movie didn't have much character development we just gathered together our main characters from the first movie added a few more for style teamed them up with their Pig enemies and sent them all on a random Adventure okay sure I'll backtrack a little bit red our main bird has a bit of development he's so obsessed with his newly found Fame as a hero of Bird Island that he is dead set on doing everything himself instead of working as a team to find a solution and the movie's big lust is that he learns how to work as a team player instead of having to do everything himself but that's it yet even that feels like generic kid movie stuff and his Arc wasn't even as interesting as in the first movie the rest of the movie is just all of the characters doing things the movie doesn't feel like it has a connected plot it's just a thousand smaller sequences all strung together each of them hoping to spark a reaction from the kids in the audience in fact most of the things that happen in the movie don't even serve a purpose to the overall plot there's even a huge subplot involving a trio of young birds searching for some lost bird eggs that's completely pointless and only Loosely connects to the main plot at the end even most of what our main characters do serves little purpose ultimately everything that happens feels extremely juvenile we only spend a few brief minutes at the beginning doing Angry Bird stuff you know Birds launching things at the pigs and vice versa but that almost feels obligatory they just used all of these characters to do random juvenile things every 5 minutes there's a dance sequence with a pop song that lasts 30 seconds I got the feeling that this was a very expensive movie just because of how much money they had to be paying all of these music studios for the rights to use all of these songs none of them really have a purpose outside being a poppy song for the kids to laugh at if you're ready for your kids to be singing Baby Shark all day there's even a dance off to that song There's also plenty of to humor for the young kids to laugh at it's not quite as dirty as the first movie but they still can't help themselves with all the poop fart and PE jokes as well as showing as many Pig and bird butts as they can because you know that's super funny even though pigs and birds don't have humanlike butts these ones do though the movie also thinks it's extremely funny by cracking jokes the entire runtime while practically pausing to wait for a reaction yet I don't think I even laughed once to close this review off I'm going to use an obscure football reference one of the more well-known press conference blowups was with the Cardinals coach after a loss to the Bears where he yelled they are who we thought they were and we let them off the hook if you don't know what I'm talking about look it up that was going through my head because I tricked myself into thinking that maybe this movie could surprise me I didn't like the first movie I didn't like the idea of them doing a sequel I didn't like any of the trailers yet I saw the positive score on Rotten Tomatoes currently is 72% with 61 reviews counted and thought that this maybe could be a surprise it wasn't it is what I thought it was going to be and I let It Off The Hook by giving it a chance I have no idea how it has that high of a score I also don't know how so many bigname actors got conned into joining this sequel I don't even know how or why this movie exists in the first place outside the fact that Sony animation is stupid enough to think this will make just as much money as the first first movie I have to confess I was not a fan of 2016's the Angry Birds movie not that I expect it to be since I clearly wasn't the audience and had no clue of the popularity of the original game that spawned The Craze in the first place the movie just seemed too disconnected and frenetic with little attention to anything resembling a coherent storyline what a difference three years make because I have to admit I almost had as good a time as all the kids contributing tracks for the film it also features 18 classical pop songs from the 1960s to 2000s decades from famous artists and different genres from the soundtrack like the first film The Angry Birds movie 2 was theatrically released in Finland on August 7th 2019 and in the United States on August 14th in real 3D formats while it was not as financially successful as its predecessor grossing $152.8 million on a $65 million budget it received generally positive reviews from critics who considered it an improvement over its predecessor a sequel The Angry Birds movie 3 is in production with Prime Focus Studios and roio's new parent company Sega Samy group producing the film with anim being handled by dag animation years after piggy Island's destruction a red protects Bird Island from the insists on fighting alone but silver decides to follow him instead they intrude the base from the mouth of the weapon and get captured and frozen into inflatable water toys Zeta tells them her plan to fire ice balls filled with lava at both islands and demonstrates her newly upgraded Cannon red regretting not telling the birds to evacuate admits his wish to be liked by everyone to Silver who comforts him and frees them both meanwhile the other team members disguise themselves as an eagle and grab a key card to get into the base reunited with red and silver and establishes a plan to destroy the Cannon as it begins to load up ammunition in 10 minutes for the actual attack on both Islands red and silver put themselves inside an ice ball and roll it down the spiraling ammunition track of zeta's cannon with their allies distracting the Eagles and working to sever the track by reaching and pulling a switch so that the ball flies off and crushes the cannon the plan fails and Zeta and her her guards confronted them giving her a chance to fire the weapon Mighty Eagle arrives and makes a desperate attempt to stop Zeta by apologizing to her for abandoning her Zeta brushes him off revealing his real name is Ethan and that her assistant Debbie is their daughter while Zeta is distracted Chuck ties up the weapon using Silver's new invention a very strong string called super string which catches and decelerates the lava balls after Zeta fires them as the string breaks the hatchlings who finally recovered their eggs along with some piglets who had joined them on their Quest back home passed by eagle island and help grasp the string the lava balls slide back into the cannon destroying it and the base everyone escapes and Mighty Eagle protects Debbie from being crushed by a metal plate redeeming himself to her and Zeta Mighty Eagle and Zeta get married on Bird Island with red as the chief witness and Debbie as the flower girl and the rest of the Birds pigs and Eagles celebrate afterwards red credits silver and the entire team for saving the islands and as a result finds himself even more beloved for his honesty and selflessness and starts a relationship meanwhile the hatchlings discover they have accidentally swapped Zoe's eggs by Mook her eggs so they give them back to their mother who has brought the newly born sisters however as soon as the older hatchlings take their eyes off them the sisters stow away onto the boa constructor's boat causing the cycle to repeat it's not a ringing defense of artistic quality to say that a movie about pigs and flightless birds that's based on a mobile app game and aimed at small children sometimes gets judged by a different set of Standards than other movies chiefly will they laugh the answer in the case of the original The Angry Birds film was a definite yes and it's even truer for this sequel even though the mix of Skittles colored characters video game looking Graphics obvious needle Drop Music cues and incessant low brow slapstick butt jokes groin injuries might get tiresome for anyone over the age of say 12 the conception of the original project was also odd though perhaps no odder than that of most of other big budget animated pictures aimed at families the main character red Jason sudakis was a belligerent often physically violent individual sentenced by a judge to undergo Anger Management training a plotline you'd expect to see in a liveaction comedy aimed at grown-ups like well anger management and a lot of the social satire while welcome surely didn't register on most little ones the entire thing felt ungainly and the required emotional catharsis at the end didn't quite feel earned this sequel is more Shenanigans based the plot eventually leads to a combination Heist movie band of Heroes on a military Mission storyline which is more conducive to kid oriented slapstick and lets the project feel less ungainly and lighter on its feet although there's still a fair amount of sexual humor that might be considered inappropriate were there a chance small children would get it the plot picks up from the end of the last one with red being hailed as a hero for rescuing Bird Island from the onslaught of the green pigs who live on an adjacent Island now that he's won the admiration of the other birds red isn't angry anymore but the movie fills that particular vacuum by introducing a lanky bird with a feathered man named Zeta lesie Jones the leader of an ice covered third island that begins attacking both the birds and the pigs Zeta is tired of living in a glorified freezer and Begins the inevitable catapult War by lobbing a gigantic ice ball the pigs and flightless birds have to set aside their differences to defeat a common enemy a classic plot for a sequel to a movie that was itself at least half of a war movie spoof there are a lot of the expected butt jokes and Malo props and sub who's on first exchanges and all the references to Classic Hollywood movies that you'd expect in this sort of project especially the James Bond and Mission possible series The Life Aquatic and the Great Escape which appropriately starred a character nicknamed the cooler King but things move along at such an agreeably fast clip particularly in the second half when the mission gets underway that it'll be a pleasurable experience for kids and adults alike there's a lot to be said for a movie that finds the heroes sneaking into a supposedly impregnable Place dressed in a giant bird costume that suggests a mascot you'd see at an especially shabby minor league ballpark setting up a potentially bruising fist fight between them and a huge henchman and resolving it with a breakdance battle the goofier and more random the movie is the better it is and it certainly gets goofier and more random as it goes because this is the sequel everyone was looking forward to the Angry Birds movie came out back in summer 2016 which was already past the popularity of the app game pigs and Eagles celebrate afterwards red credits silver and the entire team for saving the islands and as a result finds himself even more beloved for his honesty and selflessness and starts a movie about pigs and flightless birds that's based on a mobile app game and aimed at small children sometimes gets judged by a different set of Standards than other movies chiefly will they laugh the answer in the case of the original the angry Birds film was a definite yes and it's even truer for this sequel even though the mix of Skittles colored characters video game looking Graphics obvious needle Drop Music cues and incessant low brow slapstick butt jokes groin injuries might get tiresome for anyone over the age of say 12 the conception of the original project was also odd though although there's still a fair amount of sexual humor that might be considered inappropriate were there a chance small children would get it the plot picks up from the end of the last one with red common enemy a classic plot for a sequel to a movie that was itself at least half of a war movie move there are a lot of the expected butt jokes and Malo props and sub who's on first exchanges and all the references to Classic Hollywood movies that you'd expect in this sort of project especially the James Bond and Mission Impossible series The Life Aquatic and the Great Escape which appropriately starred a character nicknamed the cooler King but things move along at such an agreeably fast clip particularly in the second half when the mission gets underway that it'll be a pleasurable experience for kids and adults alike like there's a lot to be said for a movie that finds the heroes sneaking into a supposedly impregnable Place dressed in a giant bird costume that suggests a mascot you'd see audience but I went to my app store for my Android tablet and the first Angry Birds game that showed up on the top free app games list was Angry Birds 2 in at no 71 in fact I kept scrolling to see where the others were and out of 53 games on the list the only other Angry Birds game that made the list was Angry Birds friends at no 316 so yeah it's the perfect time to release a sequel to that Angry Birds movie that came out 3 years ago right it's definitely going to give Sony pictures animation more positive vibes truth be told the Angry Birds movie has almost completely left my mind I remember being one of the few people that watched the initial trailer and thought it could be a fun movie but then the movie itself came out and I got burned pretty hard as it turns out the rest of the world was right when they thought it was a bad idea I remember the movie being a really dirty kids movie that bored the tar out of me but I don't remember much about it I went back and read my review and learned that I spent most of the review complaining about the lack of an interesting plot which makes sense because the game is a Mindless app game where you launch birds at pigs it's not the type of thing that was meant to be adapted into a fulllength movie also in reading that review let's just be glad that movie adaptations of Temple Run Tetris Fruit Ninja Monopoly and settlers of Katen ended up not being a thing because I mentioned there in that review that said movies had been announced maybe Hollywood learned their lesson that games without plots shouldn't be turned into movies although not everyone in Hollywood has learned their lesson as Sony pictures animation went on to make the Emoji Movie in 2017 and now have released this movie in 2019 I suppose one could say that Sony animation is like that friend who is still sharing Harlem Shake videos they haven't quite kept up with what they should be doing funny enough they also made Spiderman into the spider verse last year which now looks more like a fluke than anything I was almost worried there that the Sony animation I knew had disappeared and become a competent Animation Studio who am I supposed to continually make fun of if Sony animation learns how to properly make movies I guess illumination could take that Crown because they've been a train wreck lately when it comes to Quality but it appears that Sony animation is back to their usual selves making awful animated movies for me to make fun of because Angry Birds 2 in is another disaster that I found even more annoying than the original film which is kind of what I was expecting so why did I see it when I knew this would be the case I don't know I tried to come up with multiple excuses in my head while watching but the most honest answer is simply that review movies is what I do and this movie came out on a Tuesday instead of a Friday so when I randomly had a day off that I wasn't expecting I threw in the towel and went into a Mata showing to get this one over with to give me a jump start on this weekend's movies the plot yeah if 2016 me had an issue with the plot of the first movie 2019 me is in for a world of fun because this movie is completely Bonkers I mean to heck with an Angry Birds movie doing Angry Birds things instead of of having evil runchy pigs running around causing the birds to launch themselves at the pig's base they all decide to be friends because an angry purple Eagle upset at the fact that her fiance stood her up at their wedding and tired of the fact that she lives on a frozen Island decides that she's going to destroy both the pigs and the bird's Island so that she can take over and use it as her summer paradise instead of you know flying somewhere else maybe in this universe these are just the only two islands in existence giving purple Eagle nowhere else to fly I don't know logic isn't this movie's strong suit I suppose that's not completely necessary in a kid's movie but it would have been nice if the filmmakers showed that they actually cared they just simply opened the box of what to do in a generic kids movie and rolled with it using the first idea suggested to them from one of their 5-year-olds as a loose plot structure while taking lots of inspiration from that awful first movie in hopes to make their bosses at Sony happy the movie didn't have much character development we just gathered together our main characters from the first movie added a few more for style team them up with their Pig enemies and sent them all on a random Adventure okay sure I'll backtrack a little bit red our main bird has a bit of development he's so obsessed with his newly found Fame as a hero of Bird Island that he is dead set on doing everything himself instead of working as a team to find a solution and the movie's big lesson is that he learns how to work as a team player instead of having to do everything himself but that's it yet even that feels like generic kid movie stuff and his Arc wasn't even as interesting as in the first movie the rest of the movie is just all of the characters doing things the movie doesn't feel like it has a connected plot it's just a thousand smaller sequences all strung together each of them hoping to spark a reaction from the kids in the audience in fact most of the things that happen in the movie don't even serve a purpose to the overall plot there's even a huge subplot involving a trio of young birds searching for some lost bird eggs that's completely pointless and only Loosely connects to the main plot at the end even most of what our main characters do serves little purpose ultimately everything that happens feels extremely juvenile we only spend a few brief minutes at the beginning doing Angry Bird stuff you know Birds launching things at the pigs and vice versa but that almost feels obligatory they just used all of these characters to do random juvenile things every 5 minutes there's a dance sequence with a pop song that lasts 30 seconds I got the feeling that this was a very expensive movie just because of how much money they had to be paying all of these music studios for the rights to use all of these songs none of them really have a purpose outside being a poppy song for the kids to laugh at if you're ready for your kids to be singing Baby Shark all day there's even a dance off to that song There's also plenty of toilet humor for the young kids to laugh at it's not quite as dirty as the first movie but they still can't help themselves with all the poop fart and PE jokes as well as showing as many Pig and bird butts as they can because you know that's super funny even though pigs and birds don't have humanlike butts these ones do though the movie also thinks it's extremely funny by cracking jokes the entire runtime while practically pausing to wait for a reaction yet I don't think I even laughed once to close this review off I'm going to use an obscure football reference one of the more well-known press conference blowups was with the Cardinals coach after a loss to the Bears where he yelled they are who we thought they were and we let them off the hook if you don't know what I'm talking about look it up that was going through my head because I tricked myself into thinking that maybe this movie could surprise me I didn't like the first movie I didn't like the idea of them doing a sequel I didn't like any of the trailers yet I saw the positive score on Rotten Tomatoes currently as 72% sent with 61 reviews counted and thought that this maybe could be a surprise it wasn't it is what I thought it was going to be and I let It Off The Hook by giving it a chance I have no idea how it has that high of a score I also don't know how so many big name actors got conned into joining this sequel I don't even know how or why this movie exists in the first place outside the fact that Sony animation is stupid enough to think this will make just as much money as the first movie I have to confess I was not a fan of 2016's The Angry Birds movie not that I expected to be since I clearly wasn't the audience and had no clue of the popularity of the original game that spawned The Craze in the first place the movie just seemed too disconnected and fenetic with little attention to anything resembling a coherent storyline what a difference 3 years make because I have to admit I almost had as good a time as all the kids sitting around me when I saw the sequel The Angry Birds movie to the plot development and storyline are just as chaotic and inconsequential as the first one but the individual gags and comic set pieces are at times inspired and for the most part never less than amusing it is a wacky fast-paced Delight that reminded me of Chuck Jones and Looney Tunes maybe not at their best to be sure but for these times damn close enough to grab three stars from me it is the kind of movie where blink and you miss bits like one bird in Frozen conditions far from the Breezy and sunny tropical climate to which they were accustomed this of course would make any bird Angry and instant frozen food setting off in pure kurasawa fashion the team is put together to defeat the super weapon and machinations of Zeta lesle Jones the purple necked Eagle villain of this piece who is looking to have her way on her icy Island where she is banished but not above looking for ultimate Creature Comforts there are a boatload of characters to keep straight including Glenn Eugenio derbes Debbie Tiffany hadish is there a movie she isn't in Jerry Pete Davidson and more requiring the vocal talents of the likes of Maya Rudolph Tony hail very funny as mime Nicki Minaj and Lil R howy among others thrown into this amusing stew Sony animation Monopoly and settlers of katten ended up not being a thing because I mentioned there in that review that said movies had been announced maybe Hollywood learned their lesson that games without plots shouldn't be turned into movies although not everyone in Hollywood has learned their lesson as Sony pictures animation went on to make the Emoji Movie in 2017 and now have released this movie in 2019 I suppose one could say that Sony animation is like that friend who is still sharing Harlem Shake videos they haven't quite kept up with what they should be doing funny enough they also made Spider-Man into the spider verse last year which now looks more like a fluke than any anything I was almost worried there that the Sony animation I knew had disappeared and become a competent Animation Studio who am I supposed to continually make fun of if Sony animation learns how to properly make movies I guess illumination could take that Crown because they've been a train wreck lately when it comes to Quality but it appears that Sony animation is back to their usual selves making awful animated movies for me to make fun of because Angry Birds 2 in is another disaster that I found even more annoying than the original film which is kind of what I was expecting so why did I see it when I knew this would be the case I don't know I tried to come up with multiple excuses in my head while watching but the most honest answer is simply that reviewing movies is what I do and this movie came out on a Tuesday instead of a Friday so when I randomly had a day off that I wasn't expecting I threw in the towel and went into a Mata showing to get this one over with to give me a jump start on this weekend's movies the plot yeah if 2016 me had an issue with the plot of the first movie 2019 me is in for a world of fun because this movie is completely Bonkers I mean to heck with an Angry Birds movie doing Angry Birds things instead of having evil runchy pigs running around causing the birds to launch themselves at the pig's base they all decide to be friends because an angry purple Eagle upset at the fact that her fiance stood her up at their wedding and tired of the fact that she lives on a frozen Island decides that she's going to destroy D both the pigs and the bird's Island so that she can take over and use it as her summer paradise instead of you know flying somewhere else maybe in this universe these are just the only two islands in existence giving purple Eagle nowhere else to fly I don't know logic isn't this movie's strong suit I suppose that's not completely necessary in a kid's movie but it would have been nice if the filmmakers showed that they actually cared they just simply opened the box of what to do in a generic kids movie and rolled with it using the first idea suggested to them from one of their 5-year-olds as a loose plot structure while taking lots of inspiration from that awful first movie in hopes to make their bosses at Sony happy the movie didn't have much character development we just gathered together our main characters from the first movie added a few more for style teamed them up with their Pig enemies and sent them all on a random Adventure okay sure I'll backtrack a little bit red our main bird has a bit of development he so obsessed with his newly found Fame as a hero of Bird Island that he is dead set on doing everything himself instead of working as a team to find a solution and the movie's big lesson is that he learns how to work as a team player instead of having to do everything himself but that's it yet even that feels like generic kid movie stuff and his Arc wasn't even as interesting as in the first movie the rest of the movie is just all of the characters doing things the movie doesn't feel like it has a connected plot it's just a thous smaller sequences all strung together each of them hoping to spark a reaction from the kids in the audience in fact most of the things that happen in the movie don't even serve a purpose to the overall plot there's even a huge subplot involving a trio of young birds searching for some lost bird eggs that's completely pointless and only Loosely connects to the main plot at the end even most of what our main characters do serves little purpose ultimately everything that happens feels extremely juvenile we only spend a few brief minutes at the beginning doing Angry Bird stuff you know Birds launching things at the pigs and vice versa but that almost feels obligatory they just used all of these characters to do random juvenile things every 5 minutes there's a dance sequence with a pop song that lasts 30 seconds I got the feeling that this was a very expensive movie just because of how much money they had to be paying all of these music studios for the rights to use all of these songs none of them really have a purpose out outside being a poppy song for the kids to laugh at if you're ready for your kids to be singing Baby Shark all day there's even a dance off to that song There's also plenty of toilet humor for the young kids to laugh at it's not quite as dirty as the first movie but they still can't help themselves with all the poop fart and pee jokes as well as showing as many Pig and bird butts as they can because you know that's super funny even though pigs and birds don't have humanlike butts these ones do though the movie also thinks it's extremely funny by cracking jokes the entire runtime while practically pausing to wait for a reaction yet I don't think I even laughed once to close this review off I'm going to use an obscure football reference one of the more well-known press conference blowups was with the Cardinals coach after a loss to the Bears where he yelled they are who we thought they were and we let them off the hook if you don't know what I'm talking about look it up that was going through my head because I tricked myself into think thinking that maybe this movie could surprise me I didn't like the first movie I didn't like the idea of them doing a sequel I didn't like any of the trailers yet I saw the positive score on Rotten Tomatoes currently as 72% with 61 reviews counted and thought that this maybe could be a surprise it wasn't it is what I thought it was going to be and I let It Off The Hook by giving it a chance I have no idea how it has that high of a score I also don't know how so many big name actors got conned into to joining this sequel I don't even know how or why this movie exists in the first place outside the fact that Sony animation is stupid enough to think this will make just as much money as the first movie I have to confess I was not a fan of 2016's the Angry Birds movie not that I expected to be since I clearly wasn't the audience and had no clue of the popularity of the original game that spawned The Craze in the first place the movie just seemed too disconnected and frenetic with little attention to anything resembling a coherent storyline what a difference 3 years make because I have to admit I almost had as good a time as all the kids sitting around me when I saw the sequel The Angry Birds movie to the plot development and storyline are just as chaotic and inconsequential as the first one but the individual gags and comic set pieces are at times inspired and for the most part never less than amusing it is a whacky fast-paced delight that reminded me of Chuck Jones and Looney Tunes maybe not at their best to be sure but for these times damn close enough to grabb three stars from me it is the kind of movie where blink and you miss bits like one bird reading the best seller crazy Rich aens you might recall the bird Island occupants of the first film LED by R the voice of Jason sudakis Chuck Josh Gad and bomb Danny McBride were at odds to say the least with the green Piggies who invaded their space in this film red Chuck bomb Mighty Eagle Peter Dinklage and the addition of Chuck's brainy sister silver Rachel Bloom team with pigs Leonard Bill haer Courtney Aquafina and Tech Pig Sterling K Brown to fight an even bigger threat that brings them together in a mutual effort for survival and the legacy of bird and pig Islands now they are stuck in Frozen conditions far from the Breezy and sunny tropical climate to which they were accustomed this of course would make any bird Angry and instant frozen food setting off in pure kirawa fashion the team is put together to defeat the super weapon and minations of Zeta lesle Jones the purple necked Eagle villain of this piece who is looking to have her way on her icy Island where she is banished but not above looking for ultimate Creature Comforts there are a boatload of characters to keep straight including Glenn Eugenio derbes Debbie Tiffany hadish is there a movie she isn't in Jerry Pete Davidson and more requiring the vocal talents of the likes of Maya Rudolph Tony hail very funny as mime Nicki Minaj and Lil R howy among others thrown into this amusing stew son animation proves itself highly capable of coming up with genuinely funny cartoon Antics that make for a breezy good time that even adults dragged along with their kids will get some laughs from theup Van Orman makes an effective leap to directing in his first feature after lots of success in TV the script has some winning lines and sight gags thanks to writers Peter
