going exactly the way you want it to yeah it is actually got to get the top four re and then we'll be oh yeah yeah that's it get them all get get them all warmed up at the start and we'll just we'll just keep going from there um let's get stuck in though boys we'll do it in our first little segment it's called what about me all right let's find out a little bit more about you and your footy Journey okay uh and how you got here I want to talk about this most people when they start a new job all right they're going to go in there for the first day and they're going to meet the boss or you know meet the employees and so forth your first day at a new job uh you've just been you've just been around the footy landscape at different levels obviously junior level uh amateurs Etc but now you're stepping into a full-time professional career tell us what your emotions were like on your first day turning up to the club did you know where to park um where or the entrance was did you know where to go in who to report to were you early or late uh who greeted you first give us a little bit about uh your first day at your new job mine was a bit different I was from wa so was in the club Monday morning but uh Sunday afternoon I flew from perf to melbour our player development manager Brent prismal picked me up and just basically dropped me at Mitch W's front door said in you go um so had yeah never met Mitch before in my life no um next yeah sleeping in his spare room and then um for those that don't know Mitch Mitch's family has a lot of money so it was a very nice house and he drew a drove a Mercedes so very and yeah flawed at the training and tried to show off a bit so he was good he was the one that sort of walked me in the door day one how good's that what an initiation for you thank you very much I'm yeah I'm happy tell us about yours um yeah I was pretty nervous but I didn't really um have anything to stress about because I was living with the skip U bont yeah so I wasn't late to anything and I wasn't red C and everywhere so I was pretty switched on the first couple of years it would have been like coming to America everywhere you go there was rose pedals you know thr throwing all over the ground wherever you went weren you stealing all these clothes yeah it was so that was a bonus seriously yeah cuz we're the same size and everything so it worked perfectly a thank you very much yeah all right great not many people can say that well I like that um what was growing up F uh like for you tell us a little bit more about your family and your childhood something that we wouldn't be able to get from Wikipedia give us a little bit of insight into you just about how you grew up your childhood and your family yeah so I grew up in an indigenous Community um so I had me Anie live next door me n down the road and me cousins uh yeah all next to each other um so that was something different um so I thought that was a normal life but not not many people live close to their family like I did um but yeah just that was it just and then I got a scholarship to scotch and then kind of out tell us about the um the the the relationship with you and your football um with all your cousins uh did you used to all get together and you head on down to the local you know sporting ground the park wherever and you'd always be playing football is that something that you grew up with yeah we all grew up playing together in the same team so every time one moved we all moved together um but yeah no it was nothing better cuz we had the whole full forward full of just your cousins which was pretty [ __ ] pretty good I would have liked to have seen you know the captains of each side trying to pick who you know especially if you're in a fight you know you're not going to lose that helps yeah that helps tell us about you Aaron what was your familyhood and good yeah obviously in in wa small sort of coastal town called Rockingham about an hour south of the city um yeah one older brother so um idolized him he sort of went through all the pathways and I just wanted to be like him but um sort of off field I guess like I just did everything outdoors um all my family friends and and that had boats um jet skis for drives so um that's how I spent most of my days nice way growing up how what's the age difference between two and a half years older he is okay yeah right and what did he do for a profession uh he's now a plumber oh yeah okay Norton Plumbing gas inwa but umon ni we got some people here from wa tonight so you know when you get you can PL there but he was um he played all state footy as well so um I'm didn't get drafted unfortunately but um so yeah I followed him obviously through all the ways I love it um since excuse me share share with this your childhood memories you have of your early days of going to the footy so when you first maybe hit the big smoke or you you're starting to go to AFL games um what were those memories like you remember jumping on a train you remember Jumping On The Bus you'd all get together you go with your parents you tell me yeah Mom was always once a year um cuz me and my brother obiously and my and my family love footy was we would do a Melbourne trip okay um all the way from per so we'd always try to Tee It Up with um my dad's an MCC member so MCG remember sorry so you got the um anac Day game was one that we'd always tried to get get to which was always cuz we were col with supporters growing up so that was always huge and yeah don't hate me we generally brush over that yeah so that was probably the best memories of doing a Melbourne trip you know once or twice a year to come and watch footy for the weekend we would pack in you know four or five games um the best one was probably where we watched I think it was Collingwood Richmond Travis cloak kicked seven at the G in front of 880,000 and then 5 days later was Anzac Day game and we followed that game with the storm vers Warriors and the NL so yeah massive sporting how good is that you your Striker cord with me my father used to bring me over from Chazzy and we used to obviously head off to the MCG I thought there was nothing nothing better not a bigger spectacle could you ever witness then actually either going over here to Arctic Park uh or heading to the MCG what were your experiences like um yeah so I don't really follow footy I don't really watch it I can't name players um I find it hard um but the only one game I went to every year was the dream time so Richmond vers Idan which was a massive thing um so we' get a bus from the community with all our whole family and we just drive up and it'd be the best time ever how cool would that be that was amazing yeah great um does the whole family now barck for who you play for I ask this because I could imagine that they would have had their own sort of allegiances and their own alliances to the clubs before you started playing football then when you did and you started playing for the Western Bulldogs everyone go we're all getting over here now what happened um yeah besides my dad but I reckon he's lying um yeah obviously we you know born and BR Callingwood mad um you know wear the jumper scarf everything for each gameing if we were just watching it at home on the couch but um yeah mom and my brother and and my nan and and the rest of my family and friends all jump [ __ ] pretty quick and and Dad sort of you know Can't Let It Go um I mean but I have asked him if we were playing Callingwood in the Grand Final who he'd want to win win and he does say the doggy so oh wow I think that that sort of says where his Alliance is he's either softening or he's weakening yeah but he does hit up Patty Linsky one of our well my ex-housemate and now Colwood player for Colwood tickets whenever they head to Pur so he still loves it okay good nice yourself yeah and my family all go for the Bulldogs that's it just straight away yeah than you can tell he's done this sort of thing before hav he knows how to win the crowd straight over he's bloody good at it um who's who's been your best mate since arriving at the Western bldgs football club uh I'd probably well he's one but um Ed Richards who I got drafted with we probably spent the most time together y all right yeah it'd be naughty definitely um but definitely it's always the ones you get drafted with the ones that you're closer with um so I've just got Don bendo and lucky mcneel one of the funny things I think that you have football now as that connection but then you've also got a connection outs outside of football you become friends because of football do you find that then you've got more things that you didn't realize that you'd have outside of football as your friendship grows yeah definitely I think it it obviously starts at the footy Club you spend so much time together and then sort of yeah naturally sort of I guess um whether it's music or cooking or whatever relationship goes he's not very good at cooking but just on the bus if you can pay someone to ad you definitely have to but yeah definitely I think yeah as you sort of you know whether you go traveling together in the offseason um or you spend a lot of time outside the footy Club um and then yeah they're the best sort of relationships where you can hang out and not have to talk footy I think for sure uh you you mentioned obviously growing up um uh rocking rocking H yeah rocking ham that you obviously a lot of fishing a lot of four-wheel driving and that sort of thing is that anything you do with any of the guys from the club sort of a bit hard in Melbourne like he got to travel so so far to do it don't obviously have a lot of time off during the year but um yeah there's a few of us that like to try to get down to T when the surf's good for the day or um and hang down there and um you know if we ever got a long weekend we might head up to Cody's family's got a property on the river or we might yeah head down ni down the coast your boys both Surfers you yeah he's a paddler I'm right just watching for shs I took I took him the we went to fij for a week last year when the season finished and he's oh I want to go want to go okay I thought we're going to go on the beach but we've gone in the open ocean here yeah taking 30 minutes out and we're swimming on the reefs and I struggle swimming but lucky I've got the board so I've caught one wave in but not deliberately and it's by ACD it's taking me it's taking me an hour and a half to get back on the boat and so I've jumped on the boat and I'm like oh thank God we're going home now and then they're like all right next stop I'm like oh no so that was a struggle um so I just stayed on the boat that time cuz it's just yeah it's just too hard has anyone got a rod I'm just going to fish oh wanted to but that's hilarious thanks for sharing that that's a doozy um when you were a kid growing up do you us did you used to get dressed up in your own like in footy gear like I'm talking socks and the shorts and the jumper and you're in six or seven or eight niney old running around the house was that you um yeah with M Club uniform that was it but yeah I'd get it early it's weird how you'd wear that um footy uniform to go to the game now and but now now we're wearing like casual clothes when we get older but you in your socks You' probably end up sleeping your footy shorts and socks and then roll straight into the game absolutely yeah was that you yeah definitely I think as soon as I woke up the day of a game at Junior footy whether the the game was at 8:00 a.m. or 2:00 p.m. I was I was in it as soon as I showed and had Brey um but yeah and then I remember we always my family friend used to coach the seniors as as well so we'd go straight from our Junior game and watch the senior game and watch those guys so it always be a big day of foot how good is that always engrossed or immersed in it um Boyce did you used to collect fo0 cards when you growing up and if you did oh okay you didn't but when you first saw one of you and it was presented to you by some kid Brock hey jar can you sign this for me and you go oh that's me and you look down at it and you go oh yeah I'll put my signature on that is that what happened yeah it's amazing when that first happens um I feel like the best feeling when someone's wearing your number but I was fortunate enough to have Bob Murphy wear mine before me so got yeah so yeah so I've got a couple of fans which is good yeah can you remember sting your first one um yeah I do and then I remember signing my first footy card what sort of a signature was it oh yeah it was all right still the same one I was practicing at school you're practicing at school like that that's confidence for you all right what about you Aaron collecting no I don't no no I never did the footy cards as a kid um what about when you got presented with your first one yeah it was probably like same thing it's sort of a spin out yeah uh when it first happens um it's kind of cool you obviously want it to be a decent photo arms looking good or something in that something along those lines but um yeah it is also yeah it's pretty cool now but there is I think well about every time we go to the airport now there's about six grown men wanting 20 cards sign of each player um that that becomes a little bit weird but for their nephew yeah always for their nephew not them apparently got a lot of nephews yeah but I mean it's always good to whenever someone comes up you're happy to do it and it is kind of special absolutely um tell us what the emotion was like for you when you first put the jumper on in the change rooms so we spoke about you growing up and playing around in you know amateur Junior it doesn't matter but when you first got to the Western Bulldogs football club you've been told everyone was hanging out for him to come out and start playing I know the whole football Community was what was it like for you though when you were in the change rooms and you really you put on the red white and blue for the first time what was the emotion like for you yeah it was mixed emotions um obviously it was exciting and I loved every bit about it um but to run out with the team I got the debut with was incredible like we played Sydney Swans at a four I think it was a 400 p.m. 1: p.m. I don't know but it was a really good game um anyway no it's amazing usually put that jumper on obviously you're going out there to prepare for war but it's like it's just so fun it's your dream come true and it's it didn't really kick in until the game was over yeah right cuz you're just so of it yeah yeah 100% it's funny a lot of players that are that said it in your seats they say it's like um a coat of arms you know like you feel like you're putting on a suit of armor um the other thing is is you're a custodian of the actual jumper the number two as you mentioned before Rob Murphy had it you now have it you'll be passing it on to somebody when your football journey is over so it's a very significant moment when you first put that jumper on Aaron talk about yours what was for you it was awesome at the start until the S when we got pumped by 83 points why it deflate a good story yeah um was in CRA against wws and we we got smashed but um yeah I mean it's super special I think we got some great colors um one of the best jumpers around the league it personally it looks really good so um I mean yeah it's always it's always special I mean I I'm probably the last I think um all the boys get in their jumper after the first warm up but I wait till we you know like a minute before we run out to put mine on and okay yeah obviously like a special moment each time you pull it on and get ready to run out yeah good I like that um can you remember how sore you were the day after your first real hit out um how did you feel emotionally after the experience you've just played your first game how sore were you when you realized hey they don't mck around out there that's pretty full on yeah well I think um the C sw's come from ah head on my debut um because every time I got the ball got tackled um yeah they hit hard and then you do doubt yourself a bit after your performance um I wasn't really happy with mine but good um I was fortunate enough that be gave me another chance um how s were you mate yeah I was pretty s yeah like I mean like I had a couple CYS here and there and yeah yeah and you kind of don't feel it during the game until you yeah to yeah W man the adrenaline and is is pumping so high but then at the end of the game you're like wow that was intense yeah what about you mate I mean you're full forward you take speckies you're going to I fall back at that day oh well yeah back then yes yeah my first year so yeah you were doing all the punching in the back of there on Jeremy Cameron and Jonathan Patton wow for you mate wasn't nest and just going like this watching it go over my head but um yeah I mean still to this day you know s years in you you're still bloody sore after each game but I don't think that will ever change yeah yeah um there are 720 players on the AFL system you are the best at what you do in order to be either selected or considered you have to be either outstanding at your craft or gifted with natural ability recognizing this is one thing but being consistent at it is another there is always pressure around selection coupled in with this is form and injury setbacks this puts enormous pressure on you as a person what is the one thing that you do that keeps you ious consistent and focused good question um sorry well Myra and myself before every training session we I mean obviously we got a great Redevelopment in that now and we have a big indoor field which is awesome we can do a lot out there but it looks beautiful um so we probably about 20 minutes half an hour before every training um for for that amount of time we we do hands and and marking craft and and and touch and sort hand eye coordination stuff which is probably something that we got taught from Josh Bruce one of you know the older players when he come to us um to sort of set yourself up for training and games so that's one thing that we do which I sort of you know switches us on for each sort of session but also you know hopefully can translate out in the field yeah is do you do a lot of uh stuff u meditation yoga um any of those sort of things in order to keep mindset and focus not too much I'm not I'm not huge into that stuff um I've feel like I'm pretty laidback and I don't get don't get consumed too much by media and and outside noise and and form and stuff like that but I got a spar at home that I like to relax in that's that's I guess that's one one small thing yeah good and you m what about you yeah similar to na we do touch and stuff to prepare for the game but I usually just take day by day and just like cruise I pretty chill with it yeah yeah I know very relaxed um what I'm suggesting though you out of 720 players that play in the AFL system you too are part of those 720 it's a massive privilege to be out there and do what you do and that's what you do for for a profession um does it sink into the point where you just go I know I have to be consistent I don't want to get any injuries I just want to keep playing football um so that's where that question comes from just to understand the mindset that's involved behind that yeah I I get it but I think what we're to say is like we try not to like overthink it too much like um yeah clarify yeah if you put all those numbers in it um you sort of put want to you're putting pressure on yourself that you sort of don't need um I think yeah excellent for me for me it's literally like my teammates my coaches my family and friends and and supporters and outside of that I don't care what you think about me thank you exactly what I was looking for perfect brilliant I lead them down that path but I have to let them finish the the question for me and that was beautiful thank you um do you watch a lot of on TV boys and if you do do watch it with the sound up or down Mara so just side note so we obviously have our captains run meetings where we talk about the opposition and everything and before we head into it he goes who are their Defenders again every single week like kid you're not he would would hardly know 10 defenders in the league and it's probably why you know it's a good way to look at it cuz then you're not worried if they a star or not and you can just go out and do what you want yeah so you probably don't watch any footy yeah I haven't watched the game since uh buddy Franklin 200 go wow I I don't watch it I I really don't F I don't follow it like I love the sport in the game and I'm it's fun footy but um I just yeah I don't really I'm not really into it as much as that's Now isn't that awesome I mean seriously you just wouldn't know that you think that every AFL football is going to be indulged in it immersed in it engaged in it in some way shape or form I I remember I had to tag Jake lever one day and I had no idea who he was and he was Australian this year like no no like no offense to Jake Le's obviously unbelievable player now that I know him um but yeah the Runner come out Brent prismal he's like mate you got to get on Jake Le and I'm like I have no idea like which I don't know where he is and he's right in front of me Mitch Hannon that played with him former D player he's like just laughed he's like mate are you serious he's right there but yeah so I struggle with that a bit and I always have to ask nauy to for oh that's gold that's thank you that's you're not going to get more onon us and that that's just beautiful I really enjoy that um how much do you remember about your first game boys I know we spoke about the day after but I want to talk about the lead up to it you know that you're now going to be playing you've got your first game it's all um systems go how did you sleep the night before were you nervous at all did you wake up and have you know butterflies and what did you ever had a good night's sleep Woke up had a good breakfast bang let's go and get on with it what was it like obviously I had my family there which is good the club flew my family from per the camera um I didn't know this at the time but you know we obviously have dinner and Mom and Dad were like real edgy and like they were being real weird and I was like they're like oh you should go down for dinner now and I'm like oh no all right I was like something for 2 hours like whatever they're like no no like you should go down I was like what's like what's going on with these guys tonight I didn't realize but they were presenting me my my first game jumper that night um so that's why they wanted me out of there so they could go down and and present the jumper as well um but yeah mom would hate me saying this but Mom literally instead of sort of presenting it she sort of just rattled off like every achievement I've ever had since I was like 10 and all the boys hung [ __ ] on me for like 2 years about it and I was like oh thanks Mom but she was just like super proud obviously to present it um so that was cool and I just remember having breakfast with them before the game and um yeah slept well and and then yeah obviously spoke before but the result wasn't the best wow manate brilliant Jamara um yeah I was pretty chill um I was all right had a feed with me family and that but the only thing that stressed me out was probably just organizing tickets for so many people cuz you have to you have to request for it yourself and obviously hand on out as well can I ask how many it was oh I would have got 50 I 50 y yeah I had a lot of like family cuz I have like still my family still from the community so you got to get the whole like like everyone yeah the whole mob got to come down and if I miss out on someone they're going to let me know yeah it's really funny I I say this you probably know Mel lafal from Richmond you probably go I don't never heard of him there you go um he's an an Islander boy that plays yeah yeah I know him go mate yeah [Applause] yeah hang on we're really good mates I call him KY oh sorry M call him that's right I just know him as m to use his full name that's oh my God that's gold mate that is absolutely gold anyway he was telling me his first game he had to get 80 tickets 80 tickets for all his family and friends he said that was the most stressful thing for him as well did he did he Deo against us I think so I'm not sure yeah cuz I had to sort him out tickets as well I remember yeah it's all coming back to me now that's oh that's brilliant mate I like it uh before a big game boys do you like your own space are you nervous are you anxious are you talkative uh or are you quiet and just like to go through your own routine what sort of a person are you um I like my own space a little bit okay um my parents I well they obviously stay they stay with me now when they when they come over from Perth but the one rule is the not night before the game cuz Mom will ask a th questions and is super excited for the next day but um other than that but yeah if we have a night game like I'm I'm super chill I you know just relax on the couch and have na in the afternoon and go for a walk not a lot things I like how both nonchalant they are I mean that's obviously representative of the kind of football they're playing so it's brilliant I know if I go into this question with you you'll probably just go yeah I'm pretty T mate just chill you know so I won't even worry about it it's just perfect um I just figured you're going to be that um as an elite footballer what is something you want to be recognized for though is it a match winner a leader a consistent contributor a reliable teammate or just someone who gives their all which one do you reckon you'd be out of all those Maybe all of them all the above all the above no um I don't know I'd hope to be what was the third one uh match winner a leader a consistent contributor a reliable teammate or someone who just gives their all um I don't mind a reliable teammate or a little bit of a match winner okay um match winner is good yeah it's right yeah yeah Eric yeah I guess probably match winner as a forward or and then probably a leader we're super young down in that forward line I think I'm the old 24 which is quite crazy to think of so got to yeah keep an eye on these younger ones yeah yeah okay outside of a grand final what's more important to you playing in Marquee games or playing football with your mates probably mates yeah yeah definitely mates I mean we get probably stitched up as doggies like we don't get they took took Good Friday off us which go like North Melbourne they like stinking it up always and they get it um um like they want a decent game like give it to us and someone else but um yeah to be honest but isn't it good it's perfect so yeah probably playing with your mates cuz we don't we don't we're not lucky enough to get huge Marquee games yeah yeah but it's as you say and reiterate it again the mere fact is you like playing football but you love playing it with your mates because that's the bond and the cohesion it makes sure the Strong football club that you are um uh your skill and natural ability came from where and when did did you first realize that you had it is it passed on through the family cousins anybody where did it come from I probably got from his pop mom's head which is just the height and he was apparently a good footballer um but when I realized I had it was when I had a bet with my nan actually every time I kicked the goal she' give me 10 bucks and then after the first game she didn't pay it out cuz I end up kicking out [Laughter] [Music] was I I see the incentive though yeah I get that part yeah I like that um I think most of my family's quite tall mom's like 5'11 dad's 6'2 wow pops are like 6'4 yeah um so probably from a whole bunch of my family um but yeah when I first noticed maybe not to was probably like 16 I reckon like I probably noticed um invited down to like the state 88s as like an underager when I wasn't even thinking anywhere near that so it was probably that other people recognized it in me before I did so that's that's probably when can I ask um other sports at school were you proficient at either being uh high jump long jump um were those any schools of yours hurdler a long distance run I don't know state champion of under nine [Music] shot that's facts um take that no to be honest like we always played footy in Winter um and loved it and then um in summer I just tried a whole range of sports um but we never really committed to like a a full-on summer sport because as a family we like to sort of go camping and and you know go up North and and go fishing and stuff like that so Mom and Dad said yeah like we will commit to you and your brother for footage during winter but um in summer you know just sort of play play like a midweek sort of sport and that means we can go away as a family and go camping and that so brilliant mate I love it um boys what's your favorite spot on the ground and distance to kick from when you're going for goal I'm going to give you a little bit of background obviously the Olympics has just been on and I watch someone like Patty Mills right playing basketball he's three-pointers he can do them from just about anywhere around the key but he's always got a a certain spot where he'd like to go to that would favor do you have a favorite spot on the ground not any particular ground but just on the ground where you like to keep from top of the square cuz it's easier no I'm probably more outside 50 on the left side yeah right and is it does it play havoc on you to think that you have to be inside 50 or you prefer to be outside 50 like what where do you think you like best I don't mind outside 50 because it just looks better good enough answer me hope you all appreciate that that's a ripper it looks better great answer um Aaron how do you top that I can't have that thing uh probably just like left foot snap from the boundary um yeah one that I'm super comfortable and confident with yeah yeah yeah nice um what has been your favorite or most enjoyable game to play this year uh mine would be the cartton Blues game oh yeah I had uh weering play meos felt like a winner up kick second half yeah in the second half um I didn't play that game actually probably the Sydney Swans game yeah I reckon um yeah I reckon that up going up there um obviously against in the top of the ladder and um doing what we did was was yeah kind of good a very nice the fans love it when the key forwards are up and about and on song how infectious is it on the playing group when you you two boys actually look like you're up and about and you're having a big day out can you feel that vibe from the rest of the team when you guys are just banging them you're kicking four and a and you're doing your fair share and everyone's up and about is how infectious is that what's that feeling like uh no it's obviously a really good feeling um especially when we're me and nauy are on we can just tell I feel like like the game's already won when especially when cuz when we've we've never had a bad game like together when we're up and about hey I feel we always get the win yeah I think if we both play all right we normally win to be honest um do you do you both um sort of communicate or feel that with each other maybe there's no words spoken but you just feel it A vibe from each other and you go M I can feel you're on today and you go yeah I reckon ear is too you may not have even said it but you feel it I think we're pretty good at noticing if anyone in the forward line is is on at the moment and and try and get them a good matchup or give them a lot of space to work in if they're if they're feeling on um yeah it's obviously it's been him lately he's been killing it um so yeah just let him go to work really um yeah just don't tell him what defend is on him because he won't know who it is but um but yeah I mean it's good obviously the biggest time you probably notice the crowd is obviously when you're probably starting the goal Square um that's when you can you know really after a goal if you kick one and you can hear you know probably some of the people in the room cheering which is awesome yeah oh man brilliant um how are you when it comes to Flying boys uh when you have an interstate game do you take a pillow do you take headphones you have streaming devices do you listen to music or watch movies what's your routine when you fly and how are you with flying um taking off in the ending is probably the scariest bit okay but um I'm not really good with Heights either okay um but the window yeah I don't mind I don't mind it I just put the headphones in watch movie or TV series okay all right you're not a napper you don't like no I can't sleep and I hate traveling knows oh yeah side no we after the 21 Grand Final obviously few boys stayed back in Perth and we we went up to uh oh actually my mate and I were went skiing the weekend and M was like yeah I'll come I was like 2 and 1/ half hour drive and we had planned 2 weeks later to go to exmouth which was like 14 hours and he had cracked the shits over a 2 and 1 half hour drive I said how you going to go with 4 so he put him on the plane he flew and me and my mate drove um but yeah going back to the question um yeah just I yeah I can't nap on planes I can't sleep um sitting up right but yeah normally just a movie and I always pack my pillow for Interstate trips not on the plane I put it underneath so not yeah walking around with one but oh yeah yeah yeah very nice very nice I like that two hours are we there yet are we there yet yeah uh locker room energy is something can be infectious as well who is the one player down at the club who thrives on this who is that one person that brings excitement and vibe to the Western Bulldogs change rooms there a couple of players um we got Riley West huran really good James hars the one we just recently just got over he's funny um and then obviously you got your liver okay what about you those definitely top three okay yeah those Lads and then a few of the younger boys whether it's like Charlie Clark or um Sam Dary like to they probably the ones that pull pranks and you know cups of water on tops of lockers and and all yeah little little gags like that or deep heating the jocks yeah those no not quite that much but um yeah they like the pranks good the siren has gone you're trailing by five which player out of you no which player do you hope who's got the ball in his hands to win the game for you I was going to say it of YouTube but I want it to be um I'd probably go lean V cuz he's a really good kid yeah shot how good I don't mind he's kicking yeah right what about you uh I'd probably go Cody yeah yeah I feel like Cody's got a really good set shot yeah right um you've taken a mark on the boundary line inside the forward 50 and the opposition fans are giving it to you over the fence something you're probably not familiar with um how much of what they are saying are you using as motivational simulation and how good is it when you see the ball sail over the goal umpire's head for a six pointer what is theni your first reaction it's weird like sometimes you can hear like everything people say over the fence and then other times it's just like a noise like a buzz and you can't really like pick out anything in particular so nothing distinctive yeah um but yeah maybe just the point in the shush or something yeah okay I haven't haven't done that yet I haven't pulled that out I usually just go the Double Arms out and just give them a look double Cobra y something like that whatever that is he says all right you've just kicked a team lifting goal you look up on the on the replay screen and you see yourself and you're in a good oldfashioned full body muscle Flex is there a point where you actually look at it and go H that's not bad every time I kick it yeah any for that says they don't is lying is lying there you go excellent when it comes yeah baby there you go when it comes to celebrating a goal where do you draw your inspiration from nowhere really no just just each other it just comes natural yeah yeah yeah same same same for you okay all right you're walk into a pub or a bar and the footy is on at what this is going to be funny for you you're walking into a pub or a bar and the fooy is on at what point are you conscious of the fact that that is actually what you do for a living I've had this combo with like a few mates and Mom and Dad before like okay if I go to a pub and the footies on I almost feel like I don't play AFL and I am just watching as like a fan yeah right um which is yeah weird concept cuz obviously vers these guys like you know whenever during the season but I feel like whenever I watch foty I can switch off and just actually watch it as a purest like footy fan and and not try and be like oh you know when I play this defend I'm going to do this cuz I saw it when they played this team on Saturday night when I watched like just like watching it and watching watching good players play Nothing analytical just keep it down to the basics just watch it as a purist I like it I don't I just know that's what you do I just don't to go there tell me this so boys if you had to comment on each other's playing style or speak of each other's key attributes tell me what you'd say about each other Aaron what would you say about Jamar and Jamar what would you say about Aaron um freak of talent really uh um yeah super athletic courageous in the air um great goal sense um and like hits hard when he crashes packs or Nails opposition oh wow you miss that yeah I got back that up obviously not his contest in the year and his um ability to take strong marks I get the the best probably angle of most of them um he's dropped a couple of speckies but which could have been I you could have won it 100% um but yeah no you you've seen him play he's talented as well he's really uh he's a really good play and he competes and it's it's so much easier with having him out there cuz he's just makes it a lot easier for me cuz I'll get the third Defender yeah very third Defender yeah that's good um from when I first met you and you came on to a show you were like super quiet your confidence has gone through the roof it's not just you as a person it's you as a footballer the football you're playing and you have been playing of late you've just seemed to if there was a mold that you had to fit into that that was you before you who you are now you fit you are that now you just seem to right into you must be really enjoying your football it shows are you yeah I am um well it just takes patience the time I'm just ticking the boxes and then it's slowly coming now which is good um but being a key for is like the hardest job out there because you're getting tagged every game yeah um but yeah and like I've come in at weighing at like 83 kilos yeah wanting to play AFL game and I would have just got thrown around yeah but well I did um but now that I've done the work and I'm out there and it's like I've just yeah it makes it a lot easier because you are you've put in the work yeah for sure can I ask you this Jamar how much of an influence and how lucky do you feel that you've had um maybe a mentor in Marcus Bonton Pell yeah um it's unbelievable I still find it crazy that like I do look at it sometimes to see like he's the B and he's just he's our captain he's probably going to be one of the best players to come out of the western Bulldogs or from what I've seen cuz I don't watch it I probably couldn't name any other players um but yeah no he's man it's unbelievable just the speeches he gives us before a game before we ran out after we finish if we lost win all like yeah win all loss um it's pretty inspiring stuff sometimes I just look at naughty and a couple of boys are just be like he's got to practice those in the mirror because there's no way someone's coming out there and talking him like that oh he's beautiful isn't he um he took you away though you you guys went away uh some camping and stuff correct me if I'm wrong but I know that you did go away yeah what was the circumstances um yeah so that was a pre-season I spent with NY with the um X mouth Drive um so we're up there um and then afterwards I just stayed with b and he just yeah he just trained me and trying to just took me the right way in the right direction to be a professional um cuz it would have been tough like going back home and doing my first preseason of AFL yeah um but yeah no he just directed me in the right way and I've just gone from there wow yeah I'm blown away I reckon that's just absolutely beautiful um wow um who is one of the smartest footballers you've ever met um they just get football they live in they live in it they breathe in it they immerse themselves in it who's one of those people doc probably smartest football brain obviously that you might not know is Taylor J he's someone that could yeah easily has the knowledge to probably become a head coach or a JM or footy or or something along those lines um but then he doesn't really like he's not like live and breath it like you know he's doesn't necessary a fire to do it but he's got the skill ask him anything around our game plan or any scenario in in football he's really good at like articulating how it should unfold what you should be doing or like and even his craft stuff he's yeah he's really good he's got a really good skill set basically um to move on from that there are confidence players that thrive on the big stage and totally soak in the atmosphere in your opinion who is that player at the Western Bulldogs football club probably him yeah probably Cody Whitman's another one okay yeah I feel like when Cody's up and about I'd feed off that energy I feel like we all do yeah um but yeah as you know our for Line's pretty pretty good as soon as one of us goes we're we're all on yeah and that's what I was alluding to before about just when you guys feel that you're both on and then they've Cody chips in then you've got other little small crumbers that come in and throw like Riley West throws his two cents worth in it's a potent forward line um great actually I'll allude to that I'll come back to that a little bit later on uh I wanted to talk I've just got a couple of last questions here for um when you're giving away signed kids footies at the end of the game what are you looking out for when you're heading towards the crowd the youngest yeah normally yeah yeah normally like just the smallest kid yeah but then they got to be like old enough to like appreciate appreciate it so like not really newborns but like toddlers but then if you're like yeah yeah so it's just like that fine balance a yeah and you got a walking over see a section Yeah couple kids there so as I'm walking I'm starting to decide toddler maybe newborn no that's yeah that's me thought process it's a filtering system on the way uh what about you Jamar what are you looking out for I just go straight to the hottest chck I see it no I'm same I usually just follow naughty and I'll I'll give it to a little kid or something brilliant oh boy what an answer oh get back Daman get your [ __ ] together all right what is your reaction when you see a kid with your number on their back I know you alluded to it before and was passed on or follow on from Rob Murphy but what's it like now when you see and you know that those kids they're probably not old enough to know Rob Murphy so if they're walking around in your jumper how do that make you feel um no I love it especially the indigenous ones that means a lot more um I love seeing the like yeah especially cuz my cousin designed the latest one um so it's pretty cool to see that walk around and then have my number on it as well um yeah it means a lot um but it's kind of cool to have little kids look up to you cuz it makes you feel um yeah makes you feel great absolutely AR yeah I mean awesome um it's also like probably one other Al men is like when your little kids or whoever you go school visits or Junior clubs and they got like headbands rolling around um always fun quite cute and and um nice when it's like yeah something sort of probably you know special to my look and they like yeah they want to emulate it and isn't it and play with a headband when they probably don't need it but it's quite it's quite fun I love it there's U the NAB commercial with a young boy who's um dressed in there I think it's just wonderful um which is the AFL club that you like to beat the most you two boys as Western Bulldogs football players um mine's demons I always love beating them um especially first one against him in I think it was 22 when I yeah yeah when I played it right um but yeah now de just because I think of just the per what happened in the Grand Final but yeah okay like just always beating them feels like a final so it's true you hold on to things like that don't you you lose the Grand Final every time you go out there afterwards M we're out to beat you we want revenge on that one is that something that I mean I'm not using the term Revenge but um oh I just don't I don't know I just cuz they're a tough team they usually got a pretty good list well but I just like that team yeah good okay uh two like Collingwood cuz it's always like big crowd big games and I used to go for them so that's always nice and then probably like gws also like obviously hence yeah just like there you know a lot of it probably before I was at the club the Rivalry but um it still carries over and they're always a bit tense very nice very nice last question boys look anywhere you want don't look at each other on the count of three I want you to give me your answer at the same time so keep your microphone nice and close to your chin um on the count of three which club in your opinion has got the most feral supporters one two three jwood jalong and Collingwood jalong and Collingwood there we go ladies and gentlemen put your hands who has kicked Mick Mick Simon Beasley yes 575 well done all right uh that's nine versus 8 all right y this this could be a draw if we get there all right out of these three players who has played the total score of nine eight nine or eight it doesn't matter hey well done that's not bad we don't have any losers or winners we just have Runners up if there's anything like that because you two just came up to keep score that's all we had to get you to do these two all the hard work was on them but you get to take the rewards from it you both get a that's good footy merchandise bag all right there's not not 12 Grand in those ones okay where it's already gone but you get all those so but at least you got to meet the players so all right okay whatever Daman thanks guys thanks Nate thanks Sienna nice to have you all right this is a foot panel show so I'm very quickly just going to talk a little bit of football um we're going to talk about the Western Bulldogs form and just how The Season's gone and that sort of thing um so the Western Bulldogs form from season 2024 nine losses 12 wins you're sitting sth on the ladder your next game round 23 is at Marvel Stadium against the ruse Sunday afternoon at 1:10 p.m. then your last game of the 2024 Home and Away season against your arch Rivals gws at Mars stadium in Ballarat and if you and the fans have learned anything from this season anyone can win on their day and the margins can be very tight so you don't want to drop these two that's for sure um what was the message this week from the coach it's normally something along the lines of hunt Chase protect the corridor take on every opportunity apply pressure both on the ball carrier as well as on the scoreboard make your tackle stick and be effective with your ball use how'd I go you missed out kick it to Aaron and Jamar right excellent nice addition I like it all right um tell us what the feeling is like in and around the at the moment and more importantly inside the playing group you and Hawthorne were my sneakies about round 14 and since then you've only lost two of your last six and the winds have been against quality opposition um so there must be some real belief in the structures and the systems that are being implemented by obviously the coaching staff tell us what is going on down at the club what's what's changed why are you guys so freaking Brewing at the moment um well I feel like our energy is pretty like up there um we're just enjoying it we're rocking up to training having fun a laugh um but when it's time to go um we have a crack like I feel that our club and just a whole like back six is unbelievable um putting Rory lob down there as a massive Game Changer isn't it um and then yeah and then once our six forwards are on we're we're pretty good but when our Midfield is playing well we've got a pretty good list so it's like we have no excuse not to be a good side how good is it now that Ed's gone in and he's on the ball as well tell me eron from you being at the club for a while and you seeing the structure of what runs down the spine you see your centers doing their thing you see the forwards doing your thing but then you look down and you see Rory lob how much of an addition and how good has it been to see him now find his place yeah I think well if you look at probably like other teams that have been successful for a long time it's no secret that they have a great spine um and obviously myself and Jamar and Sam Darcy like we have that up forward we had we' the addition of Liam Jones a couple years ago and then we probably missing that one more key Defender and you know what Ro done has been amazing so if you look at our spine now it's super strong super tall super athletic so um yeah there's no doubt that that goes away to structuring up really well um so yeah hopefully he can keep it up I um just wanted to also highlight I've written down here it has been the Lesser likes that have really um stepped up I talk about Riley West I think I was looking at Riley West um towards the end of last year and probably around about rounds two round rounds three and four there was a spot for him and if he could step up he was going to get basically a gy every week he has really stepped up he's become a really great quality individual that you can rely on and turn to um the other people I speak about Sam Darcy just seriously what a revelation that boy marks the ball at the highest point he can be anywhere he's versatile around the ground he's a good a good kick of the the ball um he's so efficient in in all of attributes did I don't want to use the word did he surprise you but was there a little bit of surprise when you saw what he was capable of no not at all I think we all knew yeah um the weird thing with d was he just had strange injuries that kept him out the last couple years decided to shave his legs a couple times and get in Grown infected hairs Ed up in hospital for and got a Corky last year against Sydney and decided a good actually the Sydney scg ice bars are the coldest ones in Australia I swear and he decided to stay in there for the whole second half and basically gave himself hypothermia wow so then he was out yeah Jesus so then they had to put him in the spa because he's cor uh his hypothermia that just made his Cory 10 times worse oh mate but he's alive so he sort to take that um so just like weird things like that with dynes we always knew that he was going to be a freak and a uh just from his sheer size and skill set but he just had these like strange injuries that just kept kept popping up that's probably why he didn't play um consistent footy in other years um his father Luke and obviously his grandfather David um uh you know she's U part of the western Bulldog's culture um great to see him develop the way that he has so I move on very quickly uh I did say and alluded to before Ed rich is playing in the Midfield and on the ball uh Riley Garcia he's had a really good year as well he's found the footy um ad tror in all Australian form Rory lob seems to have uh found his spot down back as we just spoke of and speaking of down back Liam Jones has been outstanding so um we talk about all the key attributes uh the Personnel that you need out on the field uh bearing no injuries um the Bulldogs are looking fabulous going into the final series round 23 as I said coming up this weekend last thing I need to say is just go dogs good luck to you all right put your hands together well done guys all right um but if you'd like to know more about where the shows are on uh because it's always better at a live audience okay and you got to come along to them it's uh get onto the website which is ww. goody.com doevents uh the next couple of shows that we've got the uh next week the panel show is here again August the 21th we're do we're doing a St Kilda show with Jack Higgins and Jack Sinclair live here from the mg Country Club then on August the 28th we're heading to to the Italian sports club in WBY for a Collingwood show and it's either going to be with Bo mcui Isaac quo or Jack crisp okay um so if you've got any Collingwood fans let them know then on September the 11th we're doing a Hawthorne show um with Mario Mario cha and K DEA um again here at the mulgrave Country Club and then on September the 18th guess what we're back here at the mulgrave country club uh where we're going to be doing an Iden show with joy Coldwell and Harrison Jones um so if you know any of people that want to come along to the shows go tell them if you had a good time tonight go tell everyone if you didn't have a good time don't tell anyone cu no one likes the wind you all right um but it' be it'd be great if you could get along and Spread spread the word what I really need to do now is just say once again thanks to everyone for coming along tonight but you didn't come just to see me you didn't come to see the atmosphere you came to see these two and they've been wonderful ambassadors of the Western Football Club at Western Bulldogs football club and what I wanted to say just off the top before I um sign off here is that these guys have been one L candid tonight they've been extremely honest and they've been themselves and you don't get that anywhere else and that's what I love that's why I love doing these shows what you guys have experience tonight is something you'll be able to take with you um because you've got great memories from it and that's what these guys have been able to provide tonight so in saying that could you please put your hands together for Jamar Yen and Aon Norton boys um please pick up the microphones I want you guys to have the last word tell us if you have a good time time tell us will we ever see you again tell tell us tell us um did you have any fun yeah definitely thanks for having us thanks for thanks for coming really um hopefully you had a few laughs and enjoyed the night um and then yeah thanks again obviously thanks to you for hosting the show and um yeah look forward to this weekend and hopefully get the win and Carry On and hopefully send a final spot and see how we go how good would that be beautiful so no last words to you are you C collected and you're nice and chilled um but just you can sign off with it with what whatever you want to say um no no thank you guys for coming it means a lot um obviously it's pretty cool to stand up here and have fans come to watch you talk and stuff um but obviously it means a lot for us because it makes us play and perform help you this say there you go I have no more to say then this is been the that's good footy panel show my name is Daman thanks for coming along tonight we hope to see you again real soon thank you and good
