Interview: Jordan Morris & Albert Rusnák Post-Match vs Minnesota United

I mean my teammates um playing really good balls the ball that OB Obed played to me was was perfect today so um they're you know obviously doing a really really great job finding me but I think really what it comes down to is confidence you know I'm definitely feeling more confident at this point in the season and that helps when you get in front a goal all right next we'll go to Jada Evans uh Jada you can go ahead and ask your a question right thanks this question is for Albert uh you say you didn't have that great of a game but your goal and assist um help you guys pull out uh the win here can you go through the um especially the assist to to Jackson um you know that that was really good so I wanted to get a little bit more from you on what you saw there for for that one and then also to talk about your goal too yeah I mean the bolt to Jackson it you know almost felt like U like a set piece and I think we've been really good at set pieces in the last you know couple of months and uh you know sometimes you need a goal of a set piece or of a of a you know off a cross it's not always you know we're not always able to break down the the teams when they defend with 10 11 Men Behind the ball and and sometimes a set piece is is a way to you know to to to get a I don't want to say a free goal but kind of you know it feels an easier goal than when you break a team down and the combination play and all that so um yeah the ball was good but you know I feel like just like when he scored in Houston the the Finish is is much harder than the ball and you know he did did a he did a great job that Heather is not easy and uh you know he timed it well and perfect power on a Heather and placement so you know great great goal from him and uh and you know it's it's it's always nice to see our Defenders get on a score sheet as well and then um evoa had a brace what did he I mean obviously one was off of a penalty but still you know he was very active so um how for for you Albert or if Jordan wants to answer how did how did he kind of make Minnesota different yeah I mean obviously he's he's a great player he's played in a lot of really good leagues and um know comes here um as kind of a proven goal scorer and and you saw what he he brought today his his second finish was incredible to to to get the ball up and down like that with your weak foot so you see kind of the natural Striker tendencies that he has in front of goal and um he's a big strong guy um going up against Yar isn't easy you know and um so he's a big strong guy he hold up plays good you know look to threaten him behind um he looks like a really good good signing for them so um yeah he made it tough on us today but I'm proud of how we fought back after he scored scored those goals Al righty a from uh ahead most of the game but that was because you kept sort of responding to or you Ian you took the lead but you you were able to respond uh twice when they when they took when they when they tied it up what does it sort of say about your uh persistence that you you you guys never seem to really hold your head down and in fact it seemed like your play Rose a little bit after each time they scored I mean it's it's never easy um especially on road when you take a lead and and and the the home team kind of equalized and you know all of a all of a sudden the fans are into it and and you know they get that little bit of momentum on their side so to take a lead you know three different times today um away from home three goals um you know even though we ConEd to a lot of positives on the defensive side of the ball as well so um yeah it's um you know we've been in a we've been in a good good runoff form and if it's not for the couple of the games against lafc um you know we would have been one of the hottest teams in the league you know in MLS and then and then also in the league cup so you know really it's um it's not easy after you lose at home uh to lafc in a way we did um to come back and and to start the the MLS again and come on the road to a tough place in Minnesota to ride around us in the table you know they're fighting for playoffs just as as we are and to come here and you know Take the Lead three different times and and come out with three points so it does show you know the the group is sticking together and um you know we don't put a head down when we concede you know it's going to happen it's part of the game and uh and yeah as I said before a whole team you know a great performance because you know it takes a lot more than just scoring the goals to to win a game yeah I I guess you could also just speak to the the the work that the counter press did in this game I think all three goals may have come off of uh you guys turning them over in their end uh and just sort of the the work that you're putting in on defense and how that's uh you know leading to leading to offense yeah obviously it's a it's a kind of strategy of ours if you want to call it that to you know give it five six seconds of of counter press and and you win the ball and you're closer to goal right so yeah first goal Christian W it and Obed was able to play it play it forward second goal was kind of a recycled off the set piece and then I can't remember yeah third goal was was kind of clear to Albert and and he scored a great goal so it's definitely a principle of ours to kind of give five six seconds of effort to try to win the ball high up the field because you're closer to goal and um obviously um easier to score goals from from that part of the field and then if we weren't able to win the ball kind of our our plan was to to get back into shape everyone get behind the ball and I thought we were really effective in in countering from that position as well so um I think you saw both sides of it today MZ Vita why you go ahead and close out our player portion of tonight's press conference go ahead M yeah pretty much of all has been said but just can you guys um I would just talk about the defense as well the B but don't break defense to get you over the Finish Line yeah I mean um I haven't seen the replay of the of the penalty but from you know what we heard um after the game you know it wasn't it wasn't clear and obvious uh uh penalty but you know it's one of those decision that that was given to them and and uh and uh so that was the first goal and then the second goal you know like Jordan said before it's maybe a little bit unlucky in a build out the way the ball bounced uh to him and uh but a great finish you know take nothing away from that with his weak fall great finish and uh and um especially towards the end of the game you know last 10 uh 10 minutes uh you know we were under it and we defended with with everybody and everybody sacrificed and even the guys playing up front had to come back and and help in in defending in front of our edge of the box and then also felt like when we did win the ball you know we were smart and we kind of push the ball forward slowly um and then try to control a little bit of possession you know but the amount of shots that that we blocked today or we we stopped the final pass or you know we intercepted the through balls uh there was a lot of that as well so um that's why I think you know uh even though we did concede two goals the the defensive performance was uh was really good today
