it was pretty windy out last night the entire van was rocking it felt like I was being uh led to asleep or something it was kind of nice I like windy nights and I like rainy nights in the van I think it might just be because it's a lot less creepy than the the quieter nights where there's no wind or no rain cuz when it's too quiet it's honestly like kind of weird and I don't like it cuz you can hear everything that's going on outside but when it's windy like it is right now you kind of can't hear much other than the wind whipping but if you've been following uh Mike Caravan with my friends we're not up north in Yus anymore we are back down in the desert on very windy day our vans are parked all weird cuz we were sitting over by the fire last night over here and the wind is coming from this way so we kind of built a blockade wall so we can sit and not have to deal with the uh wind as badly but go see if Justin's awake good morning brother how sleep good A little windy pin foil uh window covers kind of worked morning morning morning how'd you sleep slept pretty dang good how about you nice good the wind lowed me to sleep I was like a baby in a crib morning what's going on dud could you feel the um the the wind in the van rocking it with my van blocking it absolutely it was terrible really yeah you don't like it I mean the first like 30 minutes was pretty rough but everything else after that was actually nice yeah I think it's nice a few times I swear I got air on one side of the thing they're going to do pancakes I'm going to do eggs hash BRS and whatever bacon I have left Justin hold these for a second I'm going to pull my van around hopefully my Starling doesn't fall down I don't feel like taking it off so before we get into uh the rest of today's video I blowing out my flame trying to test the limits for how many pieces of bacon I can cook at once in this small pan w so much eggs breakfast is ready all right we might have to like eat inside yeah your sandwich is going to blow over oh get his get his chair it's in the fire put it out put it out you okay take as much as you want there's more than enough eggs I think I think Maggie's still working on the uh French toast we had to move into the bus because there's nowhere else to eat it where it's not hurricane outside I checked last night the weather and it said that there was a severe threat to life because of the wind because of the wind yeah deliv I'll go get some uh wait Justin has strawberries too oh uh your chair Ona fire oh yeah [Music] [Laughter] so CH is the uh last day of the Caravan at least for most of the people Justin's got to get back cuz he's got work this afternoon Nick this is his last day out here on the West Coast he is driving back to North Carolina to do storm cleanup for the season so uh he'll be gone for the next few months and then Carter has another van he's got to build so he's got to go home so I think it's just going to be me and Kyle staying out here going uh maybe up towards uh Vegas or something we're not sure yet now we just got to get cleaned up get out of the desert bye guys peace out bye drive safe by Nick going to miss you a lot dude miss you too bye a have a safe trip so you guys are going home you're leaving we're staying out we're going going we have no idea pan for gold yeah we might do some gold panning or something cuz that to our next adventure [Music] all right so we've made it to our destination we kind of decided on the way here that we were going to go try to do a catch and cook somewhere catch some fish and this is the closest place this is Lake Isabella called a local place up here picked up a cooler and some ice on the way here hopefully we can get something to eat tonight we also got a boat rental we got here kind of late so hopefully they still have a uh boat for us and neither of us have uh fishing poles so we're going to have to rent those too but I need to get one soon anyways so maybe I'll just buy one oh there's some fish we're going to eat you tonight we had a boat rental for one we're a little bit late oh yeah we tried to call you do you want to go out tomorrow so you get your full time all right so we got here a little bit late to use the boat today but tomorrow's supposed to be just as beautiful so we got our rods got a little bit of tackle I think I have some in the van and we're going to go find camp tonight and then go out tomorrow do a catch and cook for lunch hopefully but for now we got to go find somewhere to Camp do you want to just head over to that beach and see if we can find any campsite there first yeah that works Sweet let's hit it the ladies in the store were super nice they felt bad that we uh weren't going to get our full days cuz we got here late so they were like you just want to go out tomorrow which works for me cuz that's the whole day of fishing as opposed to 3 hours or knowing my track record we will probably need the full day all right so we're going to pull down here and hopefully uh find us find us a campsite all right well I was trying to be a good stand up Citizen and pay my fee for this camping area and put my card in this machine which I should have I guess thought about that before I did and now it's completely locked in there won't come out there's no phone number anywhere so I don't know what I'm going to do and then if you walk over here there's a spot for a phone number but nothing there I'm just going to get some pliers rip it just see if I can worst case I'll just cancel the card and we'll go camp tonight hopefully I don't destroy my card oh did it just come out easy yeah it came out so easy someone comes in around and ask for payment I'll tell them the car the machine tried to eat my car I pull right up in there that's a nice level spot too what a beauty of a campsite and we can throw some lines in here and hopefully try to catch something look at that beautiful 12 bucks like guess technically free until someone comes and checks us but can't beat it I'm going to get uh changed real quick out of this sweatshirt at least cuz it's like 80° out so I could have swore that I had a uh tackle box that I bought and I also do have a fishing rod I completely forgot that I had that ah yes okay so I got my stuff I do have my fishing rod so I didn't need to rent one my little collapsible one then I do have my Tackle Box nice let's go get a couple uh Practice cast in but yeah since we're s shore fishing we'll probably have to put on some more weight cuz these aren't going really anyway these little tiny minnows get some more practicing with this Rod tonight when the fish are a little more active sun is cooking us out here I think I still have my moonshade canopies up but uh how perfect of timing that's ridiculous it just fell over we've been sitting on it for maybe 10 minutes too and I just decided to CL press record but we got the canopy up but we only have like 5 minutes of shade with it up because the Sun is setting directly across from us got a little bit of a heavier minnow on here just to Chuck them out there see if we can get lucky on the shore here tonight but we're going to do a majority of our fishing tomorrow [Music] we're going fishing today it looks like we got another day of beautiful weather doesn't look too windy based on how hot it's getting in the back of the van I would imag imagine it's going to be pretty warm out today got a pretty nice sleep last night other than I left my door open right before I went to bed and probably 90 knats flew in here but I had to chase out and kill so that wasn't fun but let's get changed get out on the lake so I think so we can keep our campsite tonight we're going to be uh taking Kyle's van and leaving mine here so I got to get myself packed up all righty let's go fishing frch Vol Marina so beautiful right here I wish we could camp right here should asking you no I kind of like AR spot this just has a little bit better of a view of the entire leag this is it boat for the day nice beautiful all right guys have fun have a good one I do want to drive at some point too perfect day out here though on the water so we're going to try a few spots out here that the uh guy recommended for us we're going to do over by the dam said there's a bridge over there and then Paradise Cove which should be up around that way but the dam is the closest so we're going to try that first pull over to our first spot but got to fuel up for the day before we go this is also going to be me and Kyle's first time fishing for trout don't take anything we do as advice or us telling you how to do it I'm going to show you what I learned from YouTube and we'll see if it works in practice from what I found on YouTube there are a few ways to fish trout one is with a Carolina rig one is with a slip bobber and one is just your traditional cast and reing so we're going to try all of those and see which one we have the most luck with but first got to get these uh lines restrung up with some new bait and I don't know if this is what they like but online it said that they like bright colors or bright colors do really well so we're just going to start with those and see how we do so I'm using a uh rooster tail Kyle's using a castmaster see if we can get a bite I won't get you don't worry oh I had a bite first little bite spot number two that [Music] rock well looks like there's a uh storm passing off to the east of where we're at it's blown across this way so it's not going to hit us but it is creating a ton of wind which is making fishing a little bit more miserable the boat a little less steady but been fishing for about 4 hours nothing but bites landed absolutely nothing so [Music] far all right so no fish it got uh super Choy out here bad almost capsized a few times can't really stay out in this in a small boat I don't know if you guys can even hear me but maybe we'll try to uh do some s do some fishing from Shore tonight but it's just these waves are getting gigantic out here so it's getting a little tough definitely get behind these boats you get once you get behind these boats it should be fine yeah so glad you guys made it I'm so glad I thought you were going to be like on the other side of Lake I'm on they never going to make it back yeah luckily we were just right came out ofwhere dude our dogs broke those boats are filling up with water right now oh wow made it got everything packed up it's not really getting any better and there's definitely a storm coming towards the lake so it's good that we got in we had to get out of there kind of in a hurry cuz they were rushing around talking to the walkie-talkies that one of their boats over there in the dock is sinking cuz they're getting smashed together I think it's that sailboat that's tipped over at the back end there but yeah it's definitely not ideal Lake weather right now I guess we got to uh stop by the grocery store and get some dinner since we uh didn't catch any this is no longer a catch and cook video and just a uh just a cook video also I don't know if I've shown you I probably showed you in the other video but this is Kyle's van pretty nice got a shower bed very similar layout to mine mine is the shower so windy out trees blowing over um what's his name this guy's trying to skateboard he can't get anywhere in the window though the skateboard is coming back to him he's trying so hard he's got so much dust in his eyes it's pretty bad his hat blew off oh my gosh can't even open this door all right hopefully our campsite isn't get rained on gu we see once we get there was close there's more oh my God we going have to drive through oh my God it's three of them together I didn't know tumble weed were a real thing until I uh got out I thought it was just something you see in movies there's the van it looks like I got a ticket on my windshield definitely be calling that number I have video footage that I tried to pay $12 day use camping fee must get a pass or see at the kiosk or see host where is the hook I don't know but there's also no phone number on this but I'm starving are you hungry um yeah kind of like get started cooking in like 30 minutes yeah so I'm feeling pretty gross actually we stopped at a truck stop before everyone left and it was just me and Kyle out in the road and took a shower but putting on sunscreen and swea and sit in the sun all day makes me feel real sticky so these things are good in between for when I can't have a uh actual shower or when I don't feel like getting my whole shower in the van set up it actually really sucks that uh we didn't catch any fish today I thought today was going to be the day that I'd break the catch and cook unlucky streak on my channel where I go out to do a catch and cook and don't catch a single fish maybe I'm just a horrible fisherman we did what we could did didn't come out on top it happens but since this video won't be a catching cook anymore figured I'd turn it into a camping cook and tonight we're going to be doing some Mongolian beef stir fry and luckily the wind died down too so it's again a beautiful afternoon out here it's going to be a great sunset tonight over the water first things first cuz I like to get it over with the way I cook I'm going to prep up my ingredients actually not going to use this one so first thing we're going to do cut up this beef and get it marinating while I prep the rest of the ingredients to let those flavors soak in I'm just going to cut it into thin slices and just in case you guys couldn't already tell from how much cooking I do on my channel it's one of my favorite things in the world and I feel like there's a lot of people out there who think cooking is intimidating or is challenging and I think it's super simple and can be super fun it can be something that you look forward to as to something you think is a chore and I hope my videos help people kind of realize that it's not as hard as it looks and hopefully some of you guys give it a try I get DMS all the time from people who try uh some of the recipes that I cook none of these recipes are my own by the way I find all of these just by Googling them but I get people dming me all the time saying that they love the food and that my videos have really opened them up to cooking which I really love cuz I think cooking is a very peaceful thing to do and it's also a little bit calming in a lot of ways also if you guys watch my videos you know that I'm not a professional chef as you can probably tell from my knife skills cutting up this beef and you really don't need to be one to to cook good food you just might not look as good doing it so now that we've got all of our beef nice and chopped we can get our marinade bag going and like I said we're doing Mongolian beef so that means we need our beef obviously garlic powder white pepper or black pepper doesn't really matter a little bit of olive oil or sesame oil and a little bit of cornstarch and you can also add uh baking soda if you want your beef to be a little tender and this is all we're going to season it with this is just the first seasoning we're also going to make a sauce that we're going to kind of coat this in after it's cooked also there's one last thing on the marinade that I almost forgot and that is some soy sauce I'm using less sodium and honestly if you don't feel like cutting the beef most grocery stores have a pre-cut beef option that you can just go pick up that's just as good here we go let this bag of meat marinade while we prep the rest of the stuff usually I'll prep my veggies first so I don't have to clean my knife after uh cutting meat before I cut them but I wanted to get this meat marinating there we go that's good enough no my boy father help we're going to be using the tops and the bottoms of these green onions at uh separate points in the recipe so that's why I separated them out also I read somewhere that you shouldn't cut meat on a wooden cutting board don't know what the reason is I think it's because of the bacteria and it gets into the wood fibers or something so you should always use plastic but then if you use plastic you get plastic bits in your food I don't know what you're supposed to use as opposed to playing Fruit Ninja and cutting in the air also don't take anything I say too seriously cuz I'm not a chef I just like to cook but the last thing we got to do here while we let that meat marinade is make these Japanese UDA noodles you can use egg noodles or whatever you want but I'm going to get those cooking I we just wait for that to come to a boil I came to uh supervise yeah hang out while I cook y these noodles are just about done I don't have a full size strainer I don't know where it went so we're using this hopefully works there we go kind of worked and we didn't lose too many noodles and I probably should have done this before my noodles completely finished cooking but we're going to cook the beef now if I was smart I would have done this halfway through my noodles cooking so everything's done at the same time but I'm not also I think there's a trick if you cook your noodles and you don't want them to stick together you can put a little bit oil on them I don't know if that's true I'm hoping it is but we'll see get a little bit of oil in the pan let that get nice and hot and then we'll start throwing our beef on and once your pan is ripping hot ruin your beef and we most likely have to do this in batches beautiful since this is super thin beef you don't really need to cook it too long couple minutes each side all right beef is done we're in the home stretch got it all out of the pan now we're going to throw in some garlic a touch more oil red onion ions and the bottom half of the green onions get those in there and get those cooking up cook those for about 5ish maybe 6 minutes till they're nice and fragrant and hook through also the sun has set which makes the light a lot less harsh off the river or off the lake it was borderline blinding me when uh I was cooking but it's nice now I might have to get my door closed here soon because last night when I was cooking right when the sun set a billion bugs came out and invaded my van so if they start coming in here I'm going to have to close this door which kind of sucks cuz the view just got bearable and the final thing we got to do is get this sauce going so we're going to add some soy sauce and if you'll notice I'm not measuring anything which you definitely should do if you're cooking I just don't care enough we get some soy sauce in there some oyster sauce just about that much and then just kind of like a splash of water let that cook up a little bit and then the final thing to get the sauce to thicken let add some cornstarch it's also helpful if you mix the cornstarch with water before uh putting it in but I don't really care so just going straight in there that's pretty much it so now we can take the beef throw that back in top half of our green onions throw that back in mix that all together and the final thing take our cooked noodles that olive oil didn't work pour clearly throw those back in there you have it take out at home and just get this all nice and mixed together Beijing beef and noodles stir fry is served final thing is where are they sesame seeds bugs Buss bugs sprinkle those on top to make it look a little fancier oh this man there you go dinner served thanks dude let me get this door closed before these bugs start invading my house again I didn't get AO a wild how we can go from literally like 60 mph winds to nothing same it was like full-blown hurricane and now it's completely Sil last night was crazy we saw a starlink rocket take off over the mountains over there it was like a bright orange tree it looked like a meteor and then right as Starling took up the ISS aligned and passed right over ahead of us it was so cool and then we saw like five shooting stars we sat out for like 3 hours last night and just watched the Stars it's probably top four moments of my like night life ever it was definitely one of the coolest night skies I've seen perfectly clear I mean tonight is perfectly clear too so hopefully we'll see some more cool Stars I'm not going to lie this is pretty good yeah thank you very much I always have people when they come on my channel and try something I've cooked rate it and you got to be completely unapologetically honest if you order this at a restaurant what would you rate it out of 10 I feel like I've had this at a restaurant before and they're never a 10 but this one's damn close I would say it's like high eight it's like 8.7 8.7 it's solid it's good I think that's what Don rated my uh chicken too 8.7 personally I would give it 74 it's good could be better this is also the first two-day video that I've done in a long time and the first attempted catch and cook I've done in a long time the only ever successful catch and cook I've I've ever done was when I had a charter in Tampa but it was basically like shooting fish in a barrel he had a gauge that showed you exactly where the fish are you dropped the hook in in 4 seconds later you had a fish on I se start doing more research before I go out to places yeah but we're going to sit here and enjoy this dinner checking with you guys when we're done [Music] the stars look so cool right now I wish you can see the moon my hand going in front of it I wish you guys could see these Stars though but sadly the camera doesn't pick it up but we sat out here for a lot longer you can't see anything but me and KY me and Kyler sitting in chairs made had a long day out on the water today so I think we are finished dinner Kyle just tripped over his chair cuz I can't see but I think we're heading to bed and then uh get an early start tomorrow I promise on this channel I will have a successful catch and cook one day not today but one day I will and I'll be alone and I won't be helped by a guide or a charter or anything like that and I will catch a fish we may have lost the battle but we haven't lost the war also this area that we're camping in is actually really well known for gold prospecting so we might try to find a spot on the uh Kern River just south of Lake Isabell here and uh try to do some gold prospecting
