snore do you SN I do snore yeah yep I knew it welcome into scoop City I'm the athletic senior NFL Insider Diana Rini and I'm Chase Daniel played 14 years in the National Football League chase the New York Jets have a problem on their hand Hassan reck has requested a trade what is happened I feel like this was situated when he was traded from Philly to New York did they not have a deal in place what the heck's going on what kind of question is that you know the answer no it was not situated we're going to get all into it thought they were you we'll we'll we'll dig deep on this story uh in a few minutes here but we got to get into the rookie quarterbacks we saw all 32 teams in action over the last few days preseason game number one in the Bucks and we got to see the debut of all these rookies I know you've been watching tons of film over the weekend you were so busy uh the last few days just watching all these quarterbacks I film season very I am so entertained by Your Enthusiasm at times I'm like this kid is sending me clips of all these rookie quarterbacks on like a Saturday afternoon at 4 I bet you didn't even watch any of it either first of all that is very judgmental you are right but I did go back and check out all your all your highlights to see it all I mean it's here's what here's what happens I have a note in my phone that actually says summer doesn't matter you it feels important right now it's it's just not so much is about to happen so you watched for me so I can't wait to hear what you have to say about all these rookie quarterbacks because I had tons of conversations today with people in the league about what these rookie quarterbacks were doing out on the field so I'm interested to see if you are in line with we'll call them the professionals who are evaluating these guys and we also have a big guest on the show Commander offensive coordinator Cliff kingsburry not doing a lot of media lately he's really trying to stay himself correct trying to stay locked in well guess what he is going to join scoop city today and we're going to hear all about his rookie quarterback and what he's like not just on the field not just in the meeting rooms but how often they're texting um and then I also had major drama over the weekend my son lost his stuffy he's got this little doggy not good things are not settled in this house not a lot of sleep happening people are stressed out poor little three-year-old is not happy so I'm going to need some tips from you on how we are going to get through it but first let's get to it here's what I'm hearing around the [Music] [Applause] [Music] league okay Diana what in the world are Haason Reddick trade request / NY Jets we talking about with this Assan reic deal he was traded from Philadelphia to the New York Jets without a contract and now he's asking to be traded what is happening all right first let's just start with what the Jets have said since then they have said we've informed him that we're not going to trade him that he's expected to be here blah blah blah blah right so they just said what they need to say in the situation right now which is basically we trade it for you and we're going to try to work this out and we need to work this out but we obviously have to go back to when this all happened and almost all the time when trades are happening as we're seeing around the league right now in terms of the brandan iuk situation we're seeing how there are teams that are interested in him they're having conversations not just about the compensation with the San Francisco 49ers but they're also working out a new deal that's usually how it works and it's usually agreed upon before the trade becomes official okay the situation in New York is they never agreed to an actual number they never agreed to a contract why why they just said they would work it out so they traded for somebody that they figured they could work something out with in layman's terms and they haven't worked something out with so said players is now asking to be traded again for the second time in one year that never happens correct now remember that he did an introductory press conference right so he already did the whole roll out of I'm a New York Jet I love being here I'm so excited to play with Aaron Rogers I have exactly what he said do you want to listen you want to hear this CU it's crazy whatever happens I'm going to be happy I'm going to give my all no matter what that's just who I am as a person no matter how it goes how many years I'm going to be here for however long I'm here for and I'm going to give the team and the fans everything that I have entire situation really strange well they were also forced to trade John Franklin Meyers if you remember he y was a very valuable player on this team and I remember even when this was all happening thinking well what are they going to do with him because I knew how much the Jets really liked him as a player well he was traded away to make room for Hassan and now Hassan is not there so the Jets have a really big situation on their hands here and they're going to try to they're going to have to figure this out but in the meantime reic has been tallying up fines every single day yeah a million dollars right now oh my gosh really yeah yes so how do you see this situation playing out I think they're going to come to an agreement at some point here they're going to have to unless he's just going to what's he going to do the Levon Bell move and just miss all those games that will cost him all that money do you remember how much Belle reflected on that time that he sat out with the Steelers and regretted it in fact remember he joined the Jets after uh missing out that whole year and I did a sit down interview with him the the night before his first game with the Jets and he was really open about that time and how difficult it was for him and how much money it cost and now you see him all over to he's always talking about how that was it's a ton of money it's a ton of money and time the leag yeah do you have any exactly the time he's a premier pass rusher right like I'm sure he wants in the upper 20s maybe low 30s do you have any indication uh why they're so far apart is it years is it apy average per year money what is it the guarantee money it's right this is the The Familiar tone of all these deals right now is always is always pointing to the guaranteed money which they're looking for I still don't understand though if you're going to make that trade and agree to it and have a conversation with his representation how do you not iron out something similar how does how you framework for a deal I I put this on the agent and the team I mean you can say everything to that you're happy like he like I just read in the press conference but at the end of the day these players want to get paid and if you don't play pay the players what's next you're going to delete delete themselves from your social media right he probably scrubbed all the jet stuff on social media and then you're going to put your agent out in the news saying we want to trade I don't I don't see uh I don't see why this is continuing to happen well this is an agent who also represents a lot of superstars this is Tory Dandy all right Tory Dandy represents CD lamb in Dallas right now uh who another correct he's tor's busy Tor is very busy dealing with a lot of different situations so we're watching this brand and iuk thing unfold Chase I Brandon Aiyuk trade request UPDATE have never covered a summer uh in terms of a story involving a contract situation like this before with Brandon auk not it's not the hold out it's not the the trade possibilities it's the tentacles that are involved and how many teens and the names that are popping up so just to remind everybody if you're just catching up maybe perhaps you've been on vacation under a rock uh but the New England Patriots the Cleveland Browns and the Pittsburgh Steelers have all been interested in trading for Brenan iuk they've all had conversations with the San Francisco 49ers and at all different times all had the framework of what the trade would look like and be on top of what a contract extension would look like for Brandon iuk so who's in it still so at this point right now it appears to just be a two horse race between the San Francisco 49ers and the Pittsburgh Steelers Steelers Steelers still in it because when we talked last time and through the the whole news cycle through the weekend it was like Brandon auk is for sure going back to San Francisco that's not the case right now anything can happen at this point the San Francisco 49 ERS in my opinion have the power right now in terms of what they want to do next they know what's on the table for them from the Pittsburgh Steelers and then they know what's on the table for them for the San Francisco 49ers and they know what they need to do to keep Brandon iuk they have re-engaged they've been having conversations with auk in terms of those other teams new the New England Patriots are out the Cleveland Browns are out we didn't talk about why the Cleveland Browns are out why are they out he didn't want to play for the Cleveland Browns apparently straight up didn't want to for the BRS or didn't want Des Watson to be his quarterback I wasn't told from anybody that it was specific to Deshawn Watson it was more of want I think he really just wants to play for the Pittsburgh Steelers it's either the San Francisco 49ers or the Pittsburgh Steelers in fact he even put out on social media he accused the 49ers of leaking out all the information putting out all these reports and he put it which that's how it works though like well it's how it works when you have this many people involved no one's just whispering in each other's ear uh between agent and team it's like you know first of all you have at one point four teams involved right and then there's always teams that we aren't talking about that are probably involved there are thoughts that maybe there this could be a three team trade as well right because the San Francisco 49ers are open to trading Brandon iuk but in order to trade Brandon iuk they would like to get a premier player back a receiver specifically all right well do the Pittsburgh Steelers have a stealer they want well I'm sure they have they would probably like one of their receivers but they know that you know Pittsburgh's not giving that up okay so where are they going to get one well maybe there's a world where the 49ers can trade iuk to the Pittsburgh Steelers get some trade compensation back get some draft picks and then go use some of those picks to trade with another team to get the receiver that they're looking for so hold on just this youve you've dropped so much knowledge and so many Rini bombs because I just that's what I'm going to use for still need to figure out what we're going to call it not Rini bombs it's so I like it I like it it's not boring um I liked meatballs Rini meatball let me just rewind and you just said it could possibly be a three team trade that seems possibly could be the reason why it's taking so long for someone to figure this trade out because it seems pretty I mean we've seen trades of this magnitude go through a lot quicker than we are right now correct there there are a lot of different reasons for the holdup you have let's start with the player the from what I was told the player hasn't really been easy to work with in terms of what he wants which I don't think is breaking news there right because he seems to be a little bit all over the place I want to be in San Francisco I really want to play here but no I actually want to play for Mike Tomlin and Pittsburgh right so you have the player part of this then you have the San Francisco 49ers if they were going to deal Brenan auk why would they not do this around the draft why would they not do this earlier now they're in a position they're just a few weeks out they've got injuries on their team they're so injured they're canceling joint practices with the Saints because they don't have enough guys to field uh at this point right so they it's been a really really tough summer for this 49ers team and when you talk about distractions not only do we have auk we also have Trent Williams who's holding out okay oh I forgot about him correct yeah what's what's the deal with him that's my point is just there's so much attention being being drawn Trent Williams is still holding out and he still has not been given the guaranteed money that he's looking for he's still in that space uh there's been no significant movement there from what I was told so he's just not practicing chilling resting his body and we'll come back week one and pancake people correct I think I think this gets worked out it has to get worked out for the San Francisco 49ers they need for Brock really and for Brock but yes for everybody um so you have Brandon auk you have the San Francisco 49ers not returning phone calls either the Pittsburgh Steelers were waiting for the ners to call them back and then you have a possible third team involved talking to the 49ers perhaps coming up with a way they could make it work so while we have been saying this since this story became the biggest story in the NFL that anything could happen it it's not hyperbole it it truly is the best summer Saga there like forget what you're watching on Netflix like you don't need to just watch this it changes so much cuz there's so many different reports there's so much different information I I hope that I'm giving listeners the most upto-date information because we've been all over the story and uh everyone's been pretty tight lipped on this because they don't want it to get messy but we're so past that point I just think this has taken so long and I just want to make sure people understand that there are are a lot of different um not I mean ego at play but there's a lot of different situations at play here no no no I'm glad you use the word ego um and here in scoop City I I hope that we are bringing you the most balanced of information because we're talking to so many different people on all the sides um but I do think ego is such an interesting word that you're using to describe it because that is at the center of this and I say that because every GM head coach organization wants to win a trade right and the great organizations don't care about the win of the trade and what it looks like and uh you know how we write about it or talk about it it's just look at San Francisco look at San Francisco they traded away the franchise for Trey Lance traded them away two years later like they knew they made a mistake right and so you're dealing with this this franchise so that tells me that San Francisco should not care about what a trade should look like if they want to get them off the books get them off the books if they want to keep them pay them bottom line maybe that has lasting effect on some of this decision- making maybe having to eat the Tre land situation is making this harder maybe Kyle Shanahan's sitting there going you know what I'm done with this let's let's just move them and we we we we'll figure this out but again I I still think the ego involved with everybody here is why we're at this point in mid August and Brenan iuk is disgruntled and I'm sure exhausted by all of this cuz from the player perspective this has to be stressful to what am I doing with my life uh so while we're all watching the situation with Brandon iuk and that's clearly dominating the headlines right now because there's just so much interest because it's messy and sloppy and ongoing um the same can be said for Dallas right we have CD lamb still not CeeDee Lamb / Dallas Cowboys there at training camp Dak Prescott's deal still not done Michael Parson's deal not done uh they're there though Dak and Micah are there uh and CD lamb has been staying away and from everything We Gather in terms of the Intel of this this is going to get done and we're going to see CD lamb out there week one when when is it going to get done it's going to get done when they come back from Oxnard and they're back in Dallas and Jerry pulls the same thing he did with Ezekiel Elliot this is 2019 all over again Jerry playing these game remember he said in the Zeke who trying to be funny well last week he was essentially saying to the media yeah I I'm in no hurry there's no urgency to get CD lamb done obviously that did not go over very very well LOL LOL retweets it and and we can all laugh about it but obviously he respond funny that was funny because we just like yeah okay uh well Jerry had to walk it back a little bit because you know somebody printed out the tweet for him and showed him hey CD's not too happy about it so it out the Tweet let's see let's hear Jerry uh walking back I think I got in trouble the other day when I said uh look we're not urgent about CD well no one appreciates CD being on field any more than i' it now I understand completely the anx that's happening when you're anxious about and someone says anything about whether you're missed or not well CD you're missed okay but you're not missed out here competing and it doesn't put any pressure any place on us Jerry wanted everyone to believe that you know the reporters were slanting it I would argue the reporters allowed him to explain it a little bit more that it wasn't just a headline um but look it's all the games it's why I think Jerry is such a great businessman because everyone's talking about it everyone's looking at the Dallas Cowboys outside of the auk situation just based on talking to people around the league and those involved I don't see a world where CD lamb is not suiting up and playing in a game week one I feel really strongly that this is going to get done and he's going to get close to the number if not the number he's looking for what is the number he's looking for well I mean just Justin Jefferson I think it's GNA be right in that range I mean is he you stepen Jones came on this show Stephen Jones came on the show and said it to us that that was what he was looking for he's the one who told us it was wow just a matter of are they going to be able to get there um so we shall see but for right now there is no CD lamb and and Dak Prescott even came out saying like he wants to be back here he wants to get on the field and it goes back to what you were talking about like he just wants to play football they don't the business side he just wants to ramp up and play football and try to have Dallas go for a run at the playoffs where everyone's going to be canned in Dallas if they don't correct um but yeah definitely you should uh have no concerns about this one although we've been saying that a lot and and nothing's gotten done and and nothing's nothing's been done um all right this is the section of the show that I've been looking forward to all weekend only because I know how much work you poured into it and I also appreciate your eye and understanding of the quarterback position so we had six rookie quarterbacks debut over the weekend and we got to see just a little bit from each of them and most shows will say don't overreact it's just one preseason game not here on scoop City because we have our resident quarterback who knows way more than most in terms of what's actually going through the mind of the quarterback what play is actually happening what they're trying to Rookie QB debuts establish so we had six rookie quarterbacks debut here's what I want to do I want to name the quarterback and in just one word describe what you saw which is I know hard yeah but one one word is difficult but I'll just do one word you run down the list yeah I'll do it ready here we go okay Caleb Williams comfortable JJ McCarthy impressive B Nicks poised Michael penx Jr strong arm Jaden Daniels uh incomplete Drake May raw okay these were great because this really tells the story I think of what you were watching on tape even though you weren't watching a full game of film so let's just start with kayin Williams then okay so you say comfortable tell me what you saw from him that makes you think comfortable well I just think when you turn on the film um ever so often you get a quarterback that you watch on film and and look I'm watching the all 22 the coach's film the coach's copy um and so I get views that viewers don't get and so I watch film a little differently than your average viewer I watch mainly the quarterback I don't really care at times what the oine is doing I don't care what the receivers are doing um and so I just want to preface in saying that when I when I look at film that's the film I'm looking at when I talk about all these quarterbacks and the first thing like you said with Caleb Williams was comfortable why is he comfortable he looked like he had been in the NFL for five to seven years Diana like I mean it was it was really impressive because I I say that he was so calm cool collected the moment wasn't too big for him it's one of the best rookie quarterback feels I wouldn't say whole performance he played 20 plays I get that we're not trying to overreact the way he felt and the way that I saw him on the film that is what was most impressive yes he made some really great throws on the first third down where he hit this corner stop route to DJ Moore on the left side of the film yes he made an amazing throw outside the pocket to a tight end on the Run just his escapability the way he creates but also you can tell a lot Diana about a quarterback in about the first five plays and it was not too big for him it was just really calm strong arm and that's got to be exciting for Bears fans what is it about the first five plays that can tell you that someone's comfortable what did you see in him specifically that you went oh okay that's a good question just the demeanor um specifically on the screen uh play it to DeAndre Swift that was 42 yard gain I mean he had pressure off the right side and he stood in the pocket so strong so like I don't care if I get hit and moved up just enough to evade the Blitzer toss it across his body for DeAndre Swift to go in and make a catch and to be able to run with that that's not normal sometimes you see scared in the pocket and when I say scared in the pocket you're just moving a little bit your feet are all over the place he was almost it almost looked like he was moving in slow motion and the bests to ever do it they play the game so it's slowed down and his game was slowed down he was not in a hurry he didn't rush through progressions and I got to be able to say this that offensive line for Chicago it was against the starters with the bills it only lasted 20s something plays they played excellent they played a lot better than last year if they can keep Caleb upright and not in the grass they're going to have some really really good games for sure do you think he'll start yes will he start yes I think we can answer those all right so then let's go to Minnesota where JJ McCarthy made his debut right now the way Camp has been going Sam darnold is technically the starter but JJ went out there um and looked as if he'd also been playing for a few seasons would you see from him yeah I mean look I want to preface this in saying with about JJ is that Sam darnold looked like he was a starter okay he played really well he made some really good throws but JJ he throws the interception early throws it late across the middle got to learn that I'm glad I'm actually glad that happened with him because I think it settled his nerves everyone on the Internet it's like oh that was his only Series against the ones and he threw an interception guess what the the pocket was was messed up he was able to step up he threw an interception who cares the way he was able to bounce back from that and continue strong I mean the go ball to the field Diana I mean 42 yards in a bucket for a touchdown in stride off coverage you couldn't have asked for a better start but what I what I noticed about him was how much he was doing at the line of scrimmage like we knew he was really smart uh but like changing plays at the line of scrimmage going from a run to a pass alerting getting people uh rookies mainly that he's playing with some of these receivers in these formations that Kevin oconnell the head coach has for the Minnesota Vikings they're all over the place he was getting these guys set in the right formation that's the type of thing that makes me say man it was impressive and it's just a matter of time I think uh until the the coaching staff at least feels he's comfortable to be in a position to start yeah and the stuff that you point out to are things that I have heard you struggle describing with players that have been in this league for four or five years right so the fact that in his rookie debut here in a preseason game um you talk about the interception though and you you said you were really happy that yeah it happened is it one of those situations where it's like okay good he did that already in the game now he doesn't have to be fearful of it is is that why you you like that experience I don't think fearful is the right word because I don't think you should be fearful when playing quarterback and I think that's when bad things happen when you're worried about throwing an interception instead of worrying about throwing an interception why don't we go out there and we throw a touchdown pass so it's a it's a mindset it's a demeanor but as far as the JJ interception goes um yeah I loved it because of one simple fact it got him settled down you could tell the nerves were were rolling he was excited it was HomeField they were doing the skull chant everything they were pumped to see him all that he got a big Standing Ovation when he went out there and it just sort of settled him down and be like hey this is still football like let's just go out there run the offense and I saw the coaches on the sideline just really just say just calm down get to the next place and he responded really well yeah that's so cool we're going to spend some time with the Minnesota Vikings they're going to have some joint practices with the Cleveland Browns this week so um we're hoping to talk to Kevin oconnell and possibly one of these quarterbacks just to get an idea of what it has been like and I really want to hear what coach has to say just what he has seen from his rookie uh B Knicks 36 snaps 15 of 21 125 passing yards a touchdown uh four scoring drives what did you make of both debut four scoring drives that's what I made of it he got the team in the end zone and and I put Bo Knicks up here as poised because he was able to just really get the ball out of his hands like the biggest issue for the Denver Broncos last year and Shawn pyton came on and said it they held on to the ball way too long last year that's not what he wants in this offense I was a part of this offense for five years with Shawn and then two years with Joe Lombardi the offensive coordinator who ran the exact same offense at the LA Chargers so I know this offense inside and out the biggest thing that Shawn pyton wants out of a quarterback and really out of an offense and their first preseason game they want you in and out on and off up and down that's what he says in and out the huddle up and down the field on and off the field when you're going Poise um uh the tempo I think is something that really stood out about him he wasn't holding the football he wasn't taking sacks he was using his legs uh and his athleticism which honestly I thought was an overlooked trait for him coming out of Oregan I thought he was more athletic than some people thought he he used that a couple times and and even on a third down throw Diana on a on a wheel route out of the back field he just bought a little bit extra time because he knew that it wasn't open right away and was able to to layer it right over um look I feel like I'm Uber positive about these guys there wasn't a lot to hate about his performance Jared Sid went in uh and I believe B knck is going to be able to get the start uh the next preseason game and what I want to note here specifically on B knck is Shawn pton could car less about how a quarterback practices the only thing that Shawn pton cares about is in game situations he takes preseason games very seriously in evaluation and so if bck continues to play well in preseason games not even joint practice in preseason games he's going to be the starter well that's what I was going to say so you think he'll be the starter I think bonix will wind up being the starter as well I think that's I think everything is pointing that Direction Just based on everything you're hearing from the entire summer as a whole as well like I know you're saying like he doesn't care about practice but what he does care about is the full body of work that Bo is showing and I think that's going to to help Bo's case to get this starting job but again this is the first time we've seen Shawn Payton working with a rookie quarterback that could potentially be the start of week one right and so then you you also have Zach Wilson There who I've heard has had a good strong so and and he had a really good uh game as well so um we will be in Denver together uh at the end of the week as well we're just everywhere so we're going to be talking to sha Payton hopefully some we'll be chatting with Bo Nicks and and and really just get a feel for What It's Like on the ground there and I know you're going to spend some time in that quarterback room and pick their brains and come on the show on on Friday and even maybe uh the following week and and just empty your bucket you're going to wear The Insider hat I'll teach you all your ways uh just you know don't order your coffee too fast cuz people get annoyed by that um so I'm so pumped about the hype machine around Jaden Daniels we're to get to that after the break because we got Cliff Kingsbury coming on the show so oh let's go hold your thoughts on that let's wrap this up with Drake May what was your impression of him out on the field incomplete raw um you know struggled a little bit under Center um but but there were there were six snaps of them and and so it it's something that is too early to tell and and honestly he got outplayed by Joe Milton uh because he was able to play more I think you're going to understand a lot more about him uh in this next preseason game where he should play J me say he should play a lot more love the touch on some stuff did some good things under Center I don't want to forget about Michael pennick Jr and I'll be quick about it too um Michael pennick Jr um I thought was excellent in um the preseason game now I know Kurt Cousins is a starter um but Michael penck Jr probably looked the uh as comfortable maybe not as much comfortable as Caleb Williams but I I just want to throw that out there is like the go balls that he was throwing in the game and that's what he's known for is his deep ball accuracy I think it was excellent I think he made some um plays outside of the pocket and and people you know oh he's a statue back there no like he can move around a little bit he ran a 44 remember in the in the 40 in the combine so just wanted to make sure we threw that out there because I was really impressed with what he was able to do yeah and I I don't actually want want to just throw that to the side knowing that the situation could get really sticky if KT cousins coming off this Achilles 36 years old granted he's had a nice Camp from what I was told he looks good he's healthy um but it could get weird this season um if Kirk starts to struggle a little bit so the fact that Falcons fans and even just this coaching staff under Zack Robinson now calling plays got to see him out there in a live game and and based on what you saw and I think others have well saw that he he can obviously handle it and handle the moment uh is just such a big win especially for a team that that did something that had the world buzzing on draft Knight it was the story of draft Knight the fact that they used their top pick uh going after a quarterback when when they had just signed and and spent a lot of money bringing her cousins to Atlanta so um I have a feeling that's going to be a story we will be revisiting and hopefully a story we'll be visiting a lot as well will be the success of the commanders now that it appears they've got another Superstar quarterback on their roster their offensive coordinator Cliff Kingsbury joins the show we'll be right [Music] Kliff Kingsbury EXCLUSIVE back back here on scoop CD the commander practiced with the New York Jets last week and I had an opportunity to talk to Cliff Kingsbury the former head coach of the Arizona carnal took a year off worked in college for a little bit but we all know that Kingsbury has a reputation of really building up young quarterbacks and having success over the years we saw some of the things that he was doing with Kyler Murray and of course now he has the task of growing Jaden Daniels the number two overall pick for the Washington commanders I had a chance to actually talk to Zack ZZ before I chatted with cliff and Z said to me this is the happiest he has ever seen Cliff kingsbery remember the two played together at least worked together in Arizona so here's my quick conversation with Cliff Kingsbury I so we're out here in the rain and I was actually thinking watching you coach this is a man who took a one-way ticket to Thailand just a few years too how does the weather and the life experience that you're having Washington compared to your time in Thailand it's been uh not as Sunny not as sunny but it's been good I I'm excited to be here working for DQ has been amazing um and then the quarterback room has been awesome margus Mariota and Jaden and Jeff D scho we got Sam Hartman so it's been fun it's been um a de that's really re-energized me and made me realize why I like coaching so much yeah it's I'm glad you use the word re-energize cuz Zack her said to me as he was walking off the field uh you're talking to Cliff I said yeah he's like he's got more energy now than he did in Arizona and and I know how invested you were and how much time you put into your work in building Kyler Murray and building that team and and what you did was really good that being said what is it about this experience that you just feel maybe a little different this time just my ability now to pour into the offensive side and getting to know the players and the Rel ships and and DQ creates an environment that he wants you to be yourself and um make it fun for the players and that is right down my alley so after being around the college kids for year at USC and then getting this Fresh Start it's just been awesome I just feel like uh it's where I'm supposed to be yeah when you when you were uh let's call it the CEO of an organization you don't get to spend that much time specifically with just the offense now you get to do that do you like being in this role now where you get to just do what you're best at compared to having to oversee all of it it's been good you know as never an OC in the NFL so I jump straight from college head coach to NFL head coach so to be able to do this and really focus on our players and on that side of the ball and pour everything into the offense is is a new experience and I'm really enjoying it all right so I've never met Jaden okay I know nothing about him I mean I know about him but I don't know him the way you have tell me what he's like first just as a guy he's humble he's humble but very very competitive when he gets on the field I mean he talks as much trash as anybody on the field off the field you never you never guess it but so he's out there just getting guys with everybody Bobby Wagner I mean the Vets like so he um has a lot of fun he wants to win every drill and but he shows up ready to work and he attacks it with you know a great energy every day and so it's been it's been a joy he's really um like I said Lifted Me Up lifted our quarterback room up just the way he approaches practice every day you're known around the league as a guy who just knows how to develop quarterbacks you know how to take them take the talent they have their intellect and form it into into greatness what skill do you think you have as a coach that you're able to help these guys I've been lucky I'll say that being around the right guys that's first and foremost but I just try to let them um play to their strengths and try to figure out what that is and what they do best and then let them work on that first and then build from there and uh so far it's worked and I'm really excited to work with this this new one Jaden what is he going to bring as a quarterback what do you think his best skill is right now it could change but at this moment right now as we're just a few weeks out from the opener what do you think is the best talent he brings to the commanders yeah from a Young Guy's perspective I would say his ability to progress through reads A lot of times young guys will get hung up on their first read and either throw it or run you know and he's a guy who can get to a second third reads and with the running backs we have to be able to find your check downs and know where they're at he's really excelling at that in an early age how much you guys talk how does that work how much what's the communication like with your with your quarterback quite a bit Yeah quite a bit we we text quite a bit yesterday he was texting me play ideas for the first play he wants to throw it deep I'm like we're not throwing it deep first play of of the preseason so he um is really good man he's he's has a great rapport with the guys with the coaches and and he wants to be coached Zach said to me he's not going to be good he is good right he is good um knowing a quarterback has all the right things that they're bringing already but they're still young what are some things that you worry about early on when you have a guy that just doesn't have experience yet yeah I mean it's always going to be ups and downs with a young guy you know and he's handled it well I think his experience in college with starting in Arizona State and transfer and he play for Brian Kelly who coaches quarterbacks as hard as anybody ever in the history of football has really helped him and and so I I just if his process stays the same his consistency to each and every day stays the same the success will come he's just got to hang with it and when we go through the bad times just keep working all right finally what is a cliff kingsbery offense going to look like in Washington in your dream scenario what what are we going to see on Sundays uh dream scenario is everybody stays healthy that's a good start always a good start and then uh we're still trying to figure out what we are exactly you know we want to play to our strengths and maximize the Personnel we have I really like the running back combination with Austin and BR Rob I mean they they compliment each other well and then getting Zach here as a tight end uh who's a quarterback special friend has been good and then Terry mclen is tremendous you know so starts with the good good pieces and have some other guys step up and we'll build it from there I heard it's your birthday tomorrow it is which I usually don't get to have a birthday in a big city so this is a good change up for about the last 30 years is anyone shocked that you're going to have a good time in New York I mean that doesn't go with your reputation at all is a guy that likes to have fun 45 I don't I don't I'm 28 eternally of course you look it too so coach thanks so much for joining us I really Kingsbury reaction appreciate it awesome thanks to Cliff for joining scoop City you know you forget because he's been in the NFL and it seems that he's been in football for a while that he's actually never been an offensive coordinator in the NFL so to hear that he loves this role right cuz you talk about being a CEO of a team and it just it comes with so much so to hear him so locked in and having this opportunity uh to work with Jaden who I had no idea was such a big trash talker until I saw it myself like I I saw him on the field I was like are you serious my goodness yeah I W up talking to him for a while after practice and uh I asked him what kind of like trash talking he does you know cuz like I feel like there's all different versions of the way you guys do it what they tap into uh I covered this one player who would who would look at his opponent's social media and just like look at all the people in his family and like study the guy so he can like reference people you serious yeah that's next level trash talk right there amazing I would be like that if I was a player put all the work into if you're going to go Full Throttle Go full throttle uh but he's like no I just keep it competitive he's like you know I I I I I throw a couple barbs but I don't get too mean I just keep it competitive so uh either way for Cliff though um already off to to a good start in terms of trying to make this work I know you didn't get to see too much but from what you caught of Jaden over the weekend what did you make of of them yeah I mean look Jaden Daniels got a incomplete grade for me because he only played um literally like nine snaps and they had I swear they had like eight snaps inside the 10 yard line where where they just Cliff just decided to hand the ball off I'm like no let Jaden throw the football um obviously the the big thing uh highlight of the game was the throw down the right sideline which was a dime with a capital d uh into the Bread Basket as we' like to say we call it hey when you're running down the field just put gifts down the chimney from Santa and that's exactly what Jaden Daniels did just put a little gift down the chimney right there into the Bread Basket so I thought that was great and then obviously the running touchdown was awesome as well uh if if I were the commanders I would not let Jaden Daniels see the field again um this preseason if I'm being completely honest with you I don't know what their plans are and and they can make those he just looks he looks smaller than what he weighed in at the at the combine and that's been the biggest issue with him Diana in college if there's one Knack against him he does not know how to slide he does not know how to protect himself uh but I am looking forward to him and that Cliff Kings where's offense and Cliff kingsburry is like truly like a quarterback Whisperer he hasn't called plays uh really uh as a true OC ever in his NFL career he can just focus on that he feels to me like that's what he just wants to do and and I'm looking forward to seeing what this offense can be they have a lot of veterans surrounding Jaden Daniels and that's what you want as a rookie quarterback yeah I realized when he said he was so excited about the Run game he also meant the quarterback in terms of that run game right so um looking forward to seeing that and and if they take your advice keep them in bubble wrap right we don't need another uh rookie quarterback in Washington having a superior season and then it all going down the drain shout out RG3 uh all right still to come here on scoop Parenting Crisis City chase I had my first real meltdown as a mom which actually I realized I probably had about 9,000 of them but yeah only your first one I'm like wait hold up that's you know it was one of these I didn't I don't know what the answer is and I like a freak out I freak out I don't know what to do here so um we're packing up the car to go home and we're an hour and a half away and I realized we don't have doggy which is my three-year-old son's little animal stuff that he has with him all the time what kind of dog is it it's not real um what kind of dog though it's like I don't know what kind of it's just furry and he eats it and it's actually gross um cuz he he he bites them like he he keeps it in his mouth I get it I get it um so he has three stuffies Panda doggy and monkey I don't know why we didn't name them we just call them what they are which apparently is very common because I've shared this with other people about how come you didn't name them but um so he realizes at first he's like Mom where's doggy I'm like oh no so we have to make this decision do we turn around or do we just go home well we made the bad decision we just went home but here's the thing when I had my second son I ALS I bought another doggy cuz I thought oh Michael My First Love doggy maybe Joy will love doggy too so there's a clean brand new doggy sitting in my other son's crib because he doesn't use it he doesn't like them so he's never touched it so I run up the stairs and I get doggy and I bring well Joey's doggy and I bring him down and I said look it's it's doggy he look he holds it he looks at it he smells it okay oh yeah smellin my saliva why you say that's weird he smells it goes that's not doggy I said that's doggy he said that's that's Joey's I go no no I watched him he runs he's three okay like he is on he runs up the stairs goes in Joey's room and says Joey's doggy's not in here so I get caught lying yeah you get caught lying to your kid love that doggy's not here and now he's mad at me for pretending doggy got to makeover and took a shower so so how did it end oh it's not over it's not over it has been tough because he want you know we we only allow him to to sleep with them we don't let him bring them to daycare or hang out with him during the day because we're trying him to have boundaries but he do he's he's a kid he doesn't forget so he just keeps bringing it up um the good news is my mom found doggy so I got a text message this afternoon um the funny part about the fact that he was found doggy was found and the picture they sent was him in like a you know after you wash your dishes you put it in like the the dish rack doggy is just sitting the dish rack so that means somebody scrubbed them because it somebody scrubbed them smelled your kid saliva so we surv that's wild that's wild my kid kids love stuffies and every time we travel we have to bring the multiple amounts of stuffies and we already have so much crap when we travel it's like no buddy I don't let's just leave them or my girls like let's just leave like No And and sure enough you know it's it's always an issue the biggest thing lately that we've been into my two girls four-year-old and three-year-old they well really Parker my middle girl she has not been sleeping well the other two will sleep Preston and Ashton they'll they'll sleep 12 hours straight no issues nothing at all Parker wakes up in the middle of night we have to go in there all this stuff like whatever so it's like separation anxiety I think for Parker uh which is you know cute cuz she wants her mom and wants her dad and and so we had to get on and my wife has been texting everyone like what do we do how do we fix this sleep issue cuz we are big sleepers like I need my sleep uh and and it's just bad for all parties involved when we're all up at the middle of the night but we have found this Fisher Price otter it's an otter literally it looks it looks feels touched like an otter and you put batteries in this otter and this otter will breathe this otter will have a heartbeat this otter will sing like very faint nursery songs and this otter will also light up and you it's one of those things that's velcroed in the back and you can pick and choose what you want it to do and so long story short uh she's been sleeping better because she feels otter on her chest breathing and she feels like it's another human or another so it's a genius idea so that that helped and then now my other daughter wants an OT too so there's a Fisher Price OT on the way to her house as well this is tremendous I I cannot believe something like this exists I can't believe awesome shout out expensive though fine I'm I'm sure it's a live animal essentially giving you I I may want one my husband never gives me hugs I I'll I need an otter in my life um but look I I don't know what the answer is so if parents out there if you've been through the missing stuffy or your child's having um obviously some missing connection here definitely tweet us leave a comment underneath I know there's a parent out there who knows how to fix this I know there's a secret to when you lose the stuffy or
