[Music] good morning Gretchen the redneck Queen love you girl love it love it this is awesome thank you so much for taking the time to do this this is Rachel Ryan she's my midday and music director and uh I'm Shannon I'm the uh the owner of the radio station so nice to meet you awesome cool and uh speaking of you're going to be at uh Rock the country right I am yes we uh we decided to join up with a whole bunch of other Hillbillies this year and go out and play in the middle of fields where uh where it's muddy and grungy and dirty and dusty and everybody is ye-haw and it's it's actually been been a blast that's gonna be awesome because I'm actually gonna be there next Saturday Anderson South Carolina yep it's a show um it's been a little bit different every time you know I we've been kind of tossed on different nights of Big and Rich so we've been playing with just a kind of a different lineup every single time so it's it's been fun to just be there get their early Park get you know get out get ready and just watch the whole event take place that's awesome that's awesome yeah I'm looking forward to it I think it's going to be great we've uh matter of fact going to bring a few uh few of our listeners uh we got meet and greet so Bob hooked us up with some meet and greet so we're going to get to actually meet you face to face and stuff so I'm looking forward to it great great that's always a good time everybody's sweating all over over each other oh yeah oh yeah definitely everybody thinks festivals are so great you know they take a shower they get all dolled up curl your hair and then it's like put it in a ponytail and just chill nobody sweats more than we do I mean it's it gets super hot up there on stage I mean it I've had people ask me before my friends they're like I took this picture of you walking off the stage did you wet yourself no I wet my yeah we all pee our pants on stage no uh it's really it's just that hot it looks it's a it's a crazy live yeah it's not as much a glamor glamorous it is love because there a bunch of red necks hanging out in the field it's awesome I love it looking at my neck in this Zoom right now could I actually be any more redneck than I am that's crazy how does that happen there's nothing more redneck than crack sweat on a stage boob sweat maybe but yeah we having a great time um you know it's really been fun to step back out there with with John and Kenny you know we go so far back we're cele celebrating 20 years believe it or not um of our both of our debut albums coming out so um just just watching the crowd kind of kicking it back to to 2004 and and uh just feeling that energy and that Vibe you know when they kick into Save a Horse Ride a Cowboy whenever I get into here for the party and Redneck Woman and it's just it's like and and we get a little bit of time you know not we're not playing our whole whole show on these on these we're openers so we don't get a whole lot of time so we're we're slamming them with as many hit songs as we can and it's just a it's it's just a it's a great feeling you know 20 years later to still be relevant is one thing I mean who gets to say that after 20 years of Performing and being in this business that they they still get to go out there and be a part of these festivals and get that kind of energy from the crowd it's just it's just an amazing feeling and I'm I I am it is not lost on me I am not taking it for granted that's awesome that's awesome and and congratulations on 20 years on on Redneck Woman in here for the party that is awesome just awesome stuff yeah I'm I'm super excited about seeing what the next few years have in store for me I you know I had to take a few years off I'm one of them Long Haul covid cases so I had some health things to work on some just some respiratory stuff that I had to find the right medication and get under control and I also uh uh broke my leg severely gosh while uh and so it was just it was a couple of years of just getting you know getting my self back together and getting myself in a position where I was like all right I'm 51 years old uh I I do I have what it takes to get back out there and sweat like that and and kind of you know keep up with the you know with the with the you know the the ones that are out there that are 24 and and feeling good you know so I kind of had to ease myself back in for this and and going out there with the boys was was the greatest way to do it just kind of test it out see how it feels and and it's been so much fun that I just I see myself doing in uh well until they make me quit love it no one's gonna make you quit girl so bring it on I am ready that's awesome so what's it like being on stage with h Kid Rock that's gotta be pretty cool it's always unpredictable um you never know never know what he's gonna throw at yet you know he's he's uh kind of thrown at the last minute hey we're going to do picture with me tonight and I'm like uh I'm I'm frantically in the in the bus look the lyric do I remember it do I remember it I have a hard enough time with my own songs you know um but yeah it's it's always fun he always um man he puts on a great concert I I'm a fan of watching him put on a show he he's just got so much energy on stage and he um he's it's like watching uh I don't know for me like watching Elvis Presley I always learn something I always take something away um he's he's just fantastic at what he does man yeah he he he's great that's for sure and he's Grandpa like what that's that's hard to wrap my head around well hopeing couple few years I might be a grandma as well but I was just gonna say are you a grandma yet but and I but I'm I'm because if if my daughter sees this interview and um she's going to be like if you say one more thing about it it's not going to H you know that's where she's at so yeah I've got to keep it keep it on the down low but yeah that's what I was just gonna now if your daughter is watching listening whatever you know this is coming from me not from you do not punish your mama for this but I do want to know if and when you do become Grandma what are you gonna be called uh I called my grandma Mama um and I you know what I guess that's probably going to be up to to my daughter Grace will probably that she'll it'll come out of her mouth probably at some point and it'll stick I I don't I care as long as as long as the baby calls on me I don't care what what they call me that's awesome I love what people don't know about me is I'm such a homebody I'm um I I love to stay at home and cook and take care of things and and um I think I'm going to be I can't wait to be a grandma I think I'm going to be a great grandma um and I just can't wait for all the babysitting duties I love how you light up talking about it you are gonna be a great grandma yeah I've got four dogs right now instead of being the crazy cat lady I'm a crazy dog lady because I'm I am not capable of being an empty nester so babies I cook for them in the evening I give them the the fresh uh packaged U meal delivery in the mornings but in the evening then I I make a you know I dice up chicken and and brown rice and broccoli and just all things that are good for them and mash all that up make a gash every night so they get something a little bit warmer a little bit more room temperature maybe do better than I do feel like Snow White here sometimes it seems like the animals in this neighborhood all flock to me too you know they're like H something's going on over there we have to go over there and see what's happening butel that's it that's it we're H we're we're heading we're heading to Gretchen for dinner that's what we're doing hey I like chicken and brown rice and [Laughter] broccoli they lay they lay on my pillows with me at night and sleep and they're yeah they're completely spoiled rotten but but you know I feel like they're the family that I chose you know like we we all get designated a family but your pets are you know the family that you choose for yourself and so I love them unconditionally and they love me unconditionally and there's a lot to be said for that that's awesome that is awesome so I got to ask ask you one of the questions we always ask is beer by the lake pool Beach or river kind of gal and I think I know the answer but go ahead well you know that has changed a little bit I would say you know it used to be by the lake but now that I've done so much traveling it's it's beer by the pool ah there's nothing wrong with that when I get my look I've got my redneck fence up right now so I can keep the dogs from uh getting out but soon soon the uh soon the actual pool will go in the ground whenever the city gives me my permiss nice very nice yeah um so what kind of beer then oh that's across the board too if I'm back home and I'm sitting at Bush Stadium watching a a a Cardinal game I I always have to drink a a full full body Budweiser um I on the road I always drank Miller believe it or not and um and at home just because that's what my mom drank for years I'll just drink a good oldfashioned Natty light Natty it don't get no more redneck than Natty baby I'm sitting here going I don't even know what that tastes like you Rachel you've never had Natty light no I'm not a beer lover remember oh I know but gosh oh you got you you got to you got to experience it one time in your life I mean it's you have to have it once in your life right Gretchen's porch I'll try it with her I know don't even put it in a cooler they drink all six P six of them before they get warm that's true that's true so Rachel you got your question go ahead and yeah so Gretchen I grew up on a Black Angus Cattle Ranch so I always like to ask everybody how they like their steak cooked I do a lot of grilling of steaks and I'm I am a nightmare air for chefs I a well done person but that's yeah but you know I mean it doesn't have to be cooked to death but I don't want it I just can't do the bloody taste or even the bloody look so it's got to it's got to be well done but if you got a really nice piece of fillet it's still very tender you can get it done you just got to cook it really low for a lot for a lot longer than most I agree I don't like that texture either and you know it doesn't I don't need it mooing no and a lot of people they're just like yeah just what is that old saying just put it on there and slap it on ass and run we actually talking to Ry Ryan Montgomery and he was explaining how it's called Blue we didn't know what that was he used to be a um that was Rand King wasn't it Rand King wasn't it on that one I don't remember somebody one of the two I don't want to I don't want to have to taste that you know yeah can't say I blame you can't say it's called feeding cows if you're dealing with mooing cows you're feeding them you're not eating them you know Trace Trace Atkins said one of the funniest things to me we were on tour together years ago and he came into the the catering tent and my I was sitting there with we had a bunch of girls on the on the road that at that time one was a truck driver one was a bus driver and just a few on crew and uh we were all sitting around eating and a lot of them were eating salads of course you know the girls always sit around and eat salads and gra just walk through and he leaned in and he looked at us and he said y'all eat what food [Laughter] eats that's great y'all eat what food eats that's awesome that's awesome for sure so um so I want to be respectful of your time give you the handles but I don't know them because my daughter while she also has a a blooming career in film editing she has to help me with that so I basically and say here put this out just like
