in the NFL there's a new highest paid cornerback in the league and his name is Jaylen Ramsey the Dolphins Corner getting a three-year deal worth 72.3 million from an aav perspective that's 24.1 million big bucks that moves him just past the 24 mil that Patrick ceran II is getting from the Broncos in a deal completed earlier this week Ramsay is a three-time all proin is set to begin his second season in Miami but dealing with a hamstring injury right now as the F get ready for their season opener Sunday afternoon against the Jags here it is in uh list form you see that 0.1 getting him right past pater tan as Jaylen Ramsey can now say hey I'm that top guy when it comes to who you pay in the NFL when it comes to quarterbacks we're now welcoming our NFL analyst Le doable and Ryan Wilson and Ryan I just first want to get your reaction of just going a bit above Patrick zeran and this Payday for Jaylen Ramsey well Zack I guess it depends how you measure a bit because we know that uh Jamar Chase wants one cent more than Justin Jefferson in that new wide receiver deal uh our guy went Jaylen Rams do with 100,000 more so his idea of a little bit is my idea of a little bit but it makes it makes sense right the the issue is he he's a little banged out with the hamstring inury we'll see if he plays in week one but long term he's so important to that secondary especially as the pieces have moved around they've lost some players like xaven Howard they've added players like safety Jordan puer uh but I think what he brings to the table going back to when he was drafted fifth overall back in 2016 is big strong fast aggressive and he plays with that dog mentality and I would imagine Li that's the type of guy that you want on the back end when you're trying to get to the quarterback uh with the front four there so it's it brings the intensity that this team needs because what we keep talking about Zack and lay is that once December rolls around this team doesn't play quite as well as they did in the warmer month so I think that's a step in the right direction now you got to get Jaylen healthy and keep him healthy yeah right not surprised by this extension if you look at how the Miami dolins have done their business they've locked up all their Frontline players this offseason Tu a Tong ofala Tyreek Hill bit surprised about the number because R you know this usually the next guy is the next highest paid but age usually comes into factor and when you look at Jaylen Ramsey he will be turning 30 this year when you look at the deal that Patrick Caine just did he's only 24 years old so this is a great job by his agents and jayen Ramsey getting this deal done now be real interested to see when the true numbers come out what they truly look like you see it right there on the graphic is Ryan all alluded to he's making 100,000 more per year than Patrick ceran but you stated it Ryan this guy brings that dog mentality to me is the most athletic Corner in all of football and I can't wait to see him in Anthony Weaver's defense I I I felt like for a good portion of last year he felt like he wasn't used properly in vic bango's defense he wants to be that true alphab dog Corner who takes on the number one receiver week in and week out we saw him do that multiple times when he was with the LA Rams when he had to go head-to-head with uh DK metf or even going back to his Jacksonville days with DeAndre Hopkins taking him one-on-one or when he would face Tyreek Hill so you see the ball skills right there he's a a true athletic Corner that is multiple too that's the what people don't talk about Ryan this guy lines up all over the place and Anthony Weaver will do that with him he's going to play positionist football coming from that Mike McDonald tree he's going to play safety he's going to play in the slot he's going to play outside at corner so his value to that defense can't be put into words great job by Miami locking him in but we we'll be real interesting to see what his true numbers look like in that contract because like I stated he's turning 30 Patrick ceran is only 24 years old yeah Le you talk about the age perspective what about the health perspective had that knee injury leer ago now has the hamstring injury which makes maybe his status for Sunday in doubt but you get paid like this do they not care well I think when he's on the field he's one of the best in the league and it's not like there's a history of him missing a ton of games now again you stated it Zack he had that knee injury but that let you show that kind of shows you how special he was because I feel like he gave this Dolphins defense a joke when he came back remember that Patriots game when he had that pick and I remember Mike McDaniel kind of kidding with him said because Jaylen Ram said when I come back I'm gonna get a pick six and he goes Jaylen you gotta pick field goal not a pick six so uh Jaylen Ramsey again can't be put into words what he means to this defense I don't think the health is a concern for him because there's not a long extensive history of him missing games due to health again when he's out there on the field he's one of the best in the league you know what's interesting Le and the numbers as you point out are going to be incredibly important it feels like the Dolphins might be all in on this season that's part of the reason they accelerated if you will this contract we know they're going to have to take care of Tyreek pretty soon uh he makes 30 million he's 30 years old he wants a pay bump and you you understand why a couple things I keep coming back to though guys is uh we talked about this before we we come in here sa Gardner is going to want to get paid now trm McDuffy one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL is going to want to get paid now and then on the other side Le you had some thoughts on this which I thought was pretty interesting the first thing that came to mind was Travis Hunter Colorado athlete does he want to make 25 million a year as a quarterback does he want to make 35 million a year as a wide receiver you weren't quite as sold on the wide receiver part it's some of the first push back I've heard uh since last week's uh shutdown of of North Dakota State but it's going to be a fun conversation to have when we look outside the NFL look back to college yeah right you bring up a great Point uh we know these receivers are making upwards of $35 million and you talk about Travis Hunter would he want to go to that side because they are getting significantly more money than the quarterback position I think chent Bailey the Hall of Famer said it best himself like you got to lock in on one position and when you look at Travis Hunter right now I just think he's a better athlete than a lot of Corners in in the college ranks right now when you see some of his his route running and some in him understanding route Concepts I think he's gonna have a better chance at being great at the cornerback position at the next level in the NFL and who knows with this deal getting done with Jaylen Ramsey maybe a guy like s Garner asks for 30 million a year Trent McDuffy who was an all proo just like s Garner maybe they asked for 30 million a year to get that number a lot closer to what those receivers are making because yes you can pay these receivers all this money but somebody has to guard them out there on that field Ryan and minimize them so why shouldn't the corners get paid close to what the top receivers are getting paid especially if they're Elite type Corners yeah it is a uh game of leap frog that seems has no time of ending any point soon thank you so much guys we appreciate it as we get ready for some NF still getting a taste of the NFL later tonight Eagles and Packers meeting to start this season in Jordan love hoping to build off of what Green Bay did last year going into the postseason while Jaylen Herz and Philly they just need to get that swag back get back into the pitcher as maybe one of those Super Bowl contenders with this new look Fly Eagles Fly with some new weapons there in that offense taking a look at it these two of course meeting over there later tonight at 8:15 eastern time the NFL's first ever game in South America Jordan love you can make an argument he was that guy last year 37 pass and touchdowns in the year one as a starter remember you said all those years behind that guy Aaron Rogers but that is now a thing of the past Green Bay leading the alltime series 29 wins to 18 losses Philly won two of the past three though my guy Ryan here still tapping in some double duty rightfully so the closer we get to week one and all those games but of course Ryan you've been in this position before when it comes to traveling out the country I'm curious what are some of the difficulties with travel maybe the food or lodging there well first about 20 to 30 guys have to get their passport I mean a lot of players don't go places overseas during college so there's a lot of fun that actually happens for players when you're getting ready to go but then you have a long the longest flight you've ever been on the Packers was just over 10 hours the the Eagles was just under nine so that's a tremendous amount of travel what movies are you watching you know things like that come into play but then also the food as you mentioned Brandon is a big piece I mean Elite athletes are really refined especially near performance time around the types of food that they need to eat and need to have and of course every country has different food and different meats and things like that so sourcing the food and the nutrition has been a big source for the teams but then now for players it's time to have fun get to enjoy the atmosphere at the game because players really have been located around their hotel before coming to the game so they're going to love to see it and when I played in wimbley The Sounds the smells everything's different about the game of football except for lit literally the field and it's a wonderful experience to go through bil we just saw the video there the Packers not having much fun looks like a business mindset there Philly it looks like it's m gr but let's stick here with the Eagles because you know Philly is known as the Broad Street Bullies there but the last couple of
