'VE ALREADY HAD OVER 1100 BALLOTS CAST IN MANCHESTER. THE POLLS OPENED AT SIX. NORMALLY THERE IS A BIG PUSH AS PEOPLE RUSH TO CAST THEIR BALLOTS BEFORE HEADING OFF TO WORK. BUT TODAY, INSTEAD OF A FLOOD OF VOTERS, IT WAS MORE OF A TRICKLE. THE SECRETARY OF STATE IS EXPECTING ABOUT 250,000 PEOPLE TO VOTE IN THE PRIMARY. IN SALEM, THE POLLS OPENED AT SEVEN. WE HAD A SMALL LINE ABOUT TEN VOTERS, SO IT WAS PRETTY SLOW. IN THE FIRST HOUR, WE HAD 55 VOTERS. SO AT THAT PACE, WE WILL ONLY SEE ABOUT 600 ALL DAY LONG. THAT TRANSLATES INTO ABOUT 25% OF THE VOTERS IN THE WARD BELOW WHAT HE WAS EXPECTING. IT'S A LITTLE SURPRISING BECAUSE WE HAVE CONTESTED RACES ON BOTH SIDES. WE DON'T HAVE A WE DON'T HAVE AN INCUMBENT GOVERNOR OR ANYTHING. SO I KIND OF THOUGHT WE WOULD BE A LITTLE BUSIER THAN WE ARE. AND WITH THIS BEAUTIFUL WEATHER, YOU CAN'T BLAME THE WEATHER TODAY. AS FOR THOSE THAT DID TURN OUT THE REASONS VARY. MINE IS THE BORDER. THE INFLATION AND WORRYING ABOUT THE ELDERLY PEOPLE BECAUSE WITH THE WAY THE COSTS ARE NOW, I DON'T KNOW HOW THEY WERE AFFORDING US. THERESA POTVIN BELIEVES THE COUNTRY IS HEADING IN THE WRONG DIRECTION, AND SHE WASN'T GOING TO LET SOMETHING LIKE A RECENT SURGERY KEEP HER FROM THE POLLS. I HAD SPINE SURGERY AND I AM DEVOTED TO VOTING TODAY, SO NOTHING STOPS ME. OTHERS, THOUGH, THINK AT LEAST WHEN IT COMES TO THE STATE, THEY WOULD LIKE MORE OF THE SAME. I LIKEKE THE WAY SUNUNU HAS BEEN RUNNING AND WHOEVER I JUST VOTED NOW FOR SOMEONE TO CONTINUE WHAT SHE'S BEEN DOING OR WHAT HE'S BEEN DOING. HERE IN WARD ONE, THEY ARE EXPECTING ANOTHER BIG PUSH. ONCE PEOPLE GET OUT OF WORK, BUT ALREADY THEY'VE HAD OVER 20% OF THE REGISTERED VOTERS IN THIS WARD CAST THEIR BALLOTS. REPO
