[Music] [Music] he [Music] hey Kyo Toano welcome back to another edition of big here news K chwy K Pat how we doing are we ready for snow apocalypse oh I keep hearing this but when when you're when you're new to denen and you hear and you come from play out of the world that doesn't really get snow and you um all of a sudden hear about snow coming nine times out of 10 when they say it's coming it never turns up so we'll wait and see um it's a semi sad day here in denan semi sad day in New Zealand with the passing of Martin Phillips of course denan icon KN for the denan sound sound and KN uh uh from the lead singer of the chills um if you're not sure who we're talking about do you want to bring your image up first chewy uh Julia Pell made a documentary of him uh and the chills in general uh the Triumph and tragedy of Martin Philips he basically was on death's door maybe a decade ago and came through it and uh passed I guess it's over the weekend we heard about it yesterday didn't we uh it's a real sad day did did you see something about this being free uh yes so this documentary uh I'm going to put the link in the chat actually right now um this documentary is free for the next um 14 days yeah um it is a fantastic documentary um I must admit when I came down to denan being as much of a music head as I was I wasn't about the denan sound right right jingly jangly pop guitar sort of stuff and that when I moved down here that had long sort of past and fizzle um but in recent years um you know the chill's put out the three best records they've ever done in the last eight years um and had basically a a late career Resurgence um and this documentary covers all of that all all of the the establishment of the denan sound um the T tumultuous times that the chills went through and and how difficult at times Martin Phillips was um right up to a very confronting trip to the hospital to find out how much lover function he had left after basically got told he was die basically got told this is it mate turn your toes up it's all over yeah um but certainly in that late late uh late in life Resurgence I've seen the chills play live here in Denon a couple of times um and I feel really dumb for writing it off when I was younger because it is it is something quite exclusive to he and it's it's so appropriate um if so there's the documentary also if you're watching us especially on uh YouTube you will recognize this Banner because this is the banner of the of the show there are several things that happen on this channel only one thing really over the last 12 months but I used to do a podcast here called the department of conversation and if you go into the uh this page anywhere and you put either the words Julia Parell or Martin Phillips you actually get a podcast I did with Martin I do want with Julia on her documentary she also made the 660 documentary so I've actually talked to her twice one was for the 60 documentary and then one was for the chills documentary um and I also where did I put it got to spend you know a couple of hours with Martin doing a podcast with him as well just get out on the road and tour there you know that's that's your Market well it's fine if your Northern Hemisphere and in the case of the chills it's like a 20 25,000 bucks to get us there you know just air is accommodation paying people's jobs so your first 10 shows pay so that's um that was a yeah I didn't know personally personally but you know kind of knew him sort of professionally in the in the world of broadcast and podcast and that and so yeah very sad day uh so if you look up his name on the YouTube page or Julia Parell you'll find you'll find both if you up his name you'll find him if you you up Julia Parell you'll oh look there's the old Studio it's Jason Jason at the top and then me and then one of the old Studios we did that several times um so yeah we're um yeah it's a bit of a satday always a sad day and I'm not sure exactly how old he was but this was only 3 or four years ago what does he look there 50s mid-50s so was only 60 I guess yeah he he was 61 oh there you go so yeah it's and that's very early in in this day and age isn't it yeah yes anyway so very sad and much love to his uh family and uh friends it's a it's a loss for sure um now tonight on the show I made a bit of a goose of myself today I was trying to set up an interview with someone who had written a piece for the conversation which is very appropo to what's going on at the moment with uh boot Camp's uh patches and um abuse and care and just I just mayor Culper I realized late this afternoon I'd been emailing the wrong person so I'd set up an interview for someone who had written an article and I realized uh at about 4:30 this afternoon that I'd been communicating with the wrong person so I just had a brain F over the weekend and I was trying to connect with two people and I connected the wrong one to the right so I so we haven't got that interview but we are going to talk about it as well um so lots to talk about there we're going to be talking about um boot camps we're going to be we're going to link it into to the Gang Patch laws we're going to link it into um the abuse and Care situation as well also over the weekend uh the greens have been talking about Darlene T and should they use the Walker jump the vibe coming from the the members not the MPS but the members is kind of yeah probably which surprises me but we'll have a look at that a little bit as well uh and also it's you know I know that we I know we don't heavily focus on American politics but I guess when it's the biggest news stories in the world you kind of we we have to do it and this thing with JD Vance at the moment in fact I forgot to bring up a tweet JD Vance at the moment in um in America and how I put up a poll in the weekend and it was something like who's going to potentially who's more likely to um to cost their running mate an election as a VP is it going to be um jie Vance or was it Sarah Palin uh because that's the kind of Vibes here it is here so this is the poll I put up uh over over the weekend um who will be more damaging to a campaign for president as the tickets VP selection Sarah Palin or JD Vance JD Vance 82% Sarah Palin 18% so you know we might have an audience who might not remember a lot about Sarah Palin but J Vance is entering the Realms of um when I say hilarity I don't mean G he's hilarious I mean he is a joke and being laughed at like a joke uh that she couldn't reach without Tina Fay doing an impression of her so he's done it by himself um Sarah Palin did it with the help of Saturday Night Live and will anything ever come back from the start of this campaign it's it's just fascinating we'll go through a little bit of that as well do you want to add anything else to I can see you just bought up another image or um the the other big news from I I guess the weekend and again we we're going to go from America back to dened and again like to keep it local um much like day follows night we were right again well I was right again uh new health commissioner in meetings about new denan hospital cost blowout now th this is this is phenomenal while labor were in in power they were criticized quite roundly by national for potentially scaling back the hospital plans because of because of cost yeah um and they bashed labor around the head with it right through to the election um there's a big campaign here in Denon that was you know save our hospital and that sort of thing uh labor would weren't going to do it and National were going to commit to the commit to the funding now of course the problem that National were trying to solve at that point was that they went the government correct now they are the government and the problem that they are trying to solve is oh [ __ ] we made promises so the new health commissioner has come in and is basically looking at capital expenditure U and of course the most capital of that is building a new [ __ ] hospital um now this is a once in a generation build this is the hospital that is supposed to look after the lower half of the South Island yeah and it's bigger it's not once in a generation it's like once if a generation is 30ish years it's like a once in three generations this expenditure previous Hospital got built in the 60s yeah there you go so 60 years give some scale there so one in two generations at least yeah and and much like when we we talked about the theories and we talked about everything else they are not accounting for population growth yeah um so the moment that they open the door on the hospital as it stands now it's already behind the eightball as far as population growth this is the hospital you know if it's if it's too complex to handle at Queenstown base hospital or Southland hospital it comes to denen if Christ Church gets taken out by another [ __ ] earthquake it comes to den Eden but they are not seeing that they are not seeing that core fact that we have talked about is that infrastructure doesn't get cheaper so rip the Band-Aid build it do it properly you can't overspend on these sort of Health um assets because as you say to it's like if you're if you're if you're building your own house that you're going to live in your whole life if you go for the best fittings and you're over engineering it cost you an extra 10 or 15% it's like if you're going to live you the whole life you're easily going going to outgrow that extra expenditure at the start and have a better house it's the same Theory like easily outgrow the expenditure at the start at the start and have a better Hospital not just for denan people but pretty much south of uh Christ Church so you know it's it's prob probably Square meterage it's a quarter of the country probably once again it comes down to the fact it comes back to the fact that labor builds infrastructure and National doesn't yeah even though National says they're on infrastructure well this is this tur the spotlight on Nelson Hospital Hawks Bay toer paliston North denen I'm sure you're seeing a theme there yeah it's not Oakland it's not Wellington you know it's all these Regional places uh because they'll just shuttle people around which is is really great when you're trying to heal and and stay healthy what'll be really interesting to see is we have and denen as a very left leaning uh voter block when it comes to an election but it's pretty much a very right leaning voter block when it comes to local body politics you know the M other than other than the last one who was a green party member the May are either being sort of Centrist center right or right that's pretty typical for Den so now it's going to be interesting to see because there's a a right-wing lunatic in there at the moment um now it's going to be interesting to see when this right-wing lunatic May has to go up against the right-wing government and say what are you guys doing whereas if it was a if it was a liberal Lefty in there you know you know they'd be up for a fight but when you're on their side of politics but you got to push back against central body because you are you're the M here and you've got to fight the fight for us it'll just be an interesting thing to observe he was very vocal when it was Labor saying that there was going to be possible cutbacks because we couldn't afford it and that sort of thing very very vocal and then the moment he's in the hot seat suddenly that spine goes all rubbery and he it I I think he sent an email that was but like oh you know if it's not too much trouble if you just notice us down here we'd very much like a hospital thank you very much you know sorry to bother you um yeah it's it's remarkable the change let me um let me give you some good news for today though this is the best video I saw today if you haven't seen it you'll enjoy it have a look [ __ ] love [Music] elephant the dexterity on that on that trunk oh that's the new drummer for the band [Music] master I like it I like it audio podcast listeners You' have to come look at the pictures there you go I just thought that was a door horrible and I wanted to share it with you guys tonight um couple of other things let's just get to uh this one here tomorrow night um Senita Torrance who you guys well remember as I can't remember the name of a Dre Queen character um is going to be joining us because uh Brian Tamaki has been served with papers $2 million he's being sued for by drag queens as he keeps saying now the reason that Brian Tamaki has been served papers is because he is being accused of causing the business side of C torrance's you know say Expedition whatever company to fall over so because of his action she can no longer trade so you would think Chewy in a live stream getting served papers you wouldn't want to sort of confirm that you are the sole reason that their businesses have been shut down I want I want to show you something right now I've just been served by this man doing his job look how now now I'm going to let you know what this is this is a serving by um drag queens who are taking me to court and some of my church members Destiny church and I want all of new zealanders to share this and around the world this is the document that they served me for a high court suing me and my church for two million dollars these are drag queens now why are they serving we takeing me to the high court cour why in my church $2 million because I shut their business down right you know what their business was so you would think I mean just quietly uh you would think if you're Mr tamaki's lawyers and you're being sued because you have shut someone's business down and cause them not to be able to trade anymore the last thing you'd want to do on a live stream perhaps is admit your the sole reason that you shut their businesses down so you know I'm just just just saying just putting it out there that maybe that's not the best thing now the reason I'm showing that is Sita is going to join us tomorrow night live at 9:00 p.m so if you want to hear from Sita as to what's going on uh where they're at and what's happening then um come back tomorrow night at 9:00 p.m. and S will be with us um I think that's kind of it shall we for me that clip really showed off what an excellent public speaker tamak is really able to string some words together on the flly um I know that you know we can and then I um the other thing we're going to do tonight chy is we're going to play some of the themes that have been entered okay oh [ __ ] a we're not going to we're not going to tell you who they're by or what they are I've already kind of decided what's going to happen I think me and chewy will narrow it down to 34 five that we like and then we'll do a bit of a poll now the poll won't be the final answer it'll be a percentage you know how like when you do voting for NZ Idol like the the judges make up a third of the votes and the and the and the viewers make up a third of the votes and then I don't know know the animals make up a third of the votes so we'll put them out there on Thursday probably in their entirety because you've got till Wednesday to get your themes in um so we'll have a look we'll have not won't do all of them tonight we'll do a few of them tonight and do a few of them tomorrow night and then that leaves us space for a few more on Wednesday night should anyone else want to enter all right um ready got to get my notes ready got to get my notes ready um so Karen chore uh that's not the right spot oh you know 7 day I've got all three of my Clips ready but I haven't got the right time set up um Karen Chaw was on new talk ZB uh in the weekend and she was uh talking about um boot camps now there's a lot of I'm going to give it an approximation it's about there 4:45 um St sorry um there was a lot of uh talk these uh things be um keeps playing sorry guys uh would these actually be fit for purpose would they be um would they work is there research behind them what's going on with these boot camps so Karen Chaw on News Talk Z over the weekend asking about what's what's the evidence what does the evidence say Minister Chaw Karen there has been some concern raised around the effectiveness of this the style it is quite a controversial policy for some people have you has this been created you know with evidence you know has has say you know evidence been used to come up with a plan here that you know is going to work no we've looked at programs that we've run in the past we've looked overseas that programs that looked at what we've done in the past looked at overseas so far that's what you're saying just making it clearone looked what we've done in the past looked overseas but what I would also like to say is what I inherited when I came in as children's Minister finished that's there's the research like finished moving on just make it clear moving on now looked at what we did looked overseas that's it so that's to them the answer to what's the evidence just was not acceptable these young people were sitting in these youth Justice facilities with no hope for the future um if I can add some hope for the future and some Rehabilitation for these young people which was much more than what they were getting and what they were getting was not working and the evidence to that is the crime out in our communities right now um so if we can give something a go that will make a real difference in these young people's lives and in our communities and lessen the harm in our communities um and I'm all for it so you're confident so this is the so what's just happened as she said what we did in the past what other people have done that's our evidence and then the response is as was always blame labor labor bad that was the other part of that answer now she's going to get asked you know do you are you saying that these are definitely going to work and guess what tree she won't answer that question these camps will make a difference uh I'm confident and that we're doing everything we possibly can to make a difference in these young young people's lives uh but let's not let's not be uh let's not ignore the fact that um it may not work for every young person yeah um that's it so it may not work for every young person can you give us some commitment that it's going to work no it's not going to work for everybody so that's where she's at Chey it's all pretty um pretty standard um from this uh national government uh telling us uh their research involves what they used to do and what other people do uh labor bad and this is not going to work for some people your thoughts that was such a such a [ __ ] just begging for a follow-up question oh we've looked at what we've done in the past okay did any of those work no did it work no super high reism rate but moving on okay did you look anywhere else yes we looked overseas and did any of their boot camp programs work uh well no uh no no they didn't like famously none of these boot camp courses work the only ones that do are the ones where the participants are volunteers yeah well it's an interesting would say the only time it works well what comes out in this interview is these participants are volunteers because there's actually no laws to do this right now they can't legally do this they can't legally put someone in so this first section is volunteers and then they're going to give the um judges the power to do it so it's just something I didn't know that either something to put put out there second part of the conversation um now look the other thing is this is a Sunday Morning Show that's kind of a magazine Style Show so it's not a hard news show Franchesca rkin is a fantastic broadcaster many people would have heard it before in places like iron Z she's she's this used to be um krie wam slot from 9 till midday on a Sunday morning so whilst I agree with you chy I would love to have been in that seat and B to go and then what and then what and then what it's kind of not the style of this this um magazine Style Show it's all more more it's sort of more conversational and you know um soft I not want to say light-hearted well sof but but the same for everybody you know soft and safe for everybody no matter who you are on there uh so the conversation does go on to talk about abuse and care and and how that relates to boot camps and um let's just continue on and see what they've got to say about that less than a week after the release of the abusive care report and of course um you know that report talks about the abuse and boot camps which happened in the 1990s what is in place to make sure that's not going to happen here yeah first of all great question yeah real good question and he comes she answered it let's I'll be fair whether you believe or agree with the answer there is an answer to that I I'd just like to acknowledge what those young people suffered on great Barry Island uh toak program um and what they went through there uh these people should never have been allowed near young people um there was no training um with the staff that were take were meant to be taking care of those young people it was an isolated island it was a perfect storm um for perpetrators I mean it should never have happened uh what I can say is that we have put in place a program um where young people will have access uh to to help if anything is UN toward happening and my expectation is that it will be dealt with quickly and those young people will be believed and those young people will not be treated um the way that those young people on Great Barrier Island were uh that was I go so the um there's some things put in place they are putting some things in place more so than the last uh situation but you know it then just has to come back to do you think that this government can actually do it to because that's always a big question around what these guys are doing yeah um like it's it's just great acknowledging that a previous attempt has failed horribly um as an example of like it would definitely won't happen this time um it's fantastic the time the timing shy the methodology shy you know nine out of 10 of those kids they're moldy yeah cool but like that oh it's just so bad it's it's so so bad yeah no look and and I agree with you I guess and I'm not saying give them credit but I am saying that they do have answers in place for some of the things that they've being criticized for like we just said these are volunteers they're not um like they've had the option given to them by judges but not they can't be sentenced by judges but when you say they're volunteers I mean I would assume the other is either go here or go here so it might be sort of a um a forced choice but it is still a choice and um again they do give answers for What's Happening after the 3-month period so this is actually a 12-month course the first three months are in care you know that sort of thing and then there's nine months when they're back out on the Community uh well hear what again there are some answers here it just depends whether you believe them or not or whether you think they can fulfill them or not um so this last kind of 60 to 90 seconds is what happens after the 3 months in care and then how do you measure success which I think is probably the most important thing how do you measure success for this uh that was unacceptable um and absolutely gut-wrenching to read about uh but this is not what we're doing here Karen just very quickly for a listener who's asked look what where do the boys go after the first 3 months once they've been in the camp so the the biggest Focus that we have is in the N9 months of transition back into the community U making sure that that's done safely and done well whether that's supporting the family with the young person coming back home or supporting the young person uh into employment or into a home um they'll also have a a one-on-one Mentor that will follow them through the whole process who will help them navigate what they need as they go along uh it's an intensive case management for each young person when they go back out into the community uh to make sure that they have those supports when things do get tough they have somebody that's backing them and helping them and finally Karen how do we measure the success of this pilot I think what we need to do also is in the past we haven't collected the right data to understand what has happened once these young people have left uh these military styles camps ories like the mac program uh and we need to actually understand uh where the failings are so so we will be following these young people quite closely uh seeing how how they uh transition back into the community and pivot as needed uh so that when we do continue this program in the future we can learn as we go along now chewy if a labor party came out and said there are some young people who need a lot see the this is the difference right these people are basically saying there are these young people who that's how it feels young people who need to be punished this is how we're punishing them if a labor government came in and said there are some young people that need to be helped what we're going to do is we're going to give them three months of intensive uh help in a in a setup situation then they're going to be 9 months with their support for them and their family they're going to have a one-on-one Mentor for a full 12 months that's going to support them things that really tough you'd probably go huh okay that doesn't sound like a terrible method now because that's what theyve said that's what she just said I wrote it down she was saying it when they once they come out support for family support for uh the young person one-on-one mental for 12 months and support when things get tough that as like a brochure don't sound terrible so what's the story how can we trust what's the what's the um how how are they going to outwork this do you know what this feels like pet tell me going into the election tough on crime boook camps we all remember boot camps right military discipline ra yep now they're in and they they really have to sell it to everyone not just their own voters yeah so now we get the wraparound support bubble that would not have bought them votes last year yeah that that sounds too NY pamy doesn't it no but what but what you're implying is you're implying it's not a terrible sounding plan and I'm kind of going look the for example DJI makes a really good point what support yeah that's really good point give us details this one-on-one mentoring tell us want to know details who's it going to be what what are their qualifications yeah and it's it's it's that sort of stuff like if she's saying yeah look there's going to be long-term support mentoring and monitoring fantastic tell us more details about that yeah yeah yeah you know is this just going to be like well we say Mentor but Mentor in the same way that a parole officer is is a mentor yeah you know uh again where is the evidence what what are are you making this up on the flight because this none of this was mentioned beforehand and it just seems to have been drip fed out on the show it's it's not it's not high up there as far as what they want to tell people about and it is awfully thin on actual hard information yeah I aset in the Super Chat thank you for the Super Chat the devil in detail 100% I am absolutely happy to eat crow if this is the one time a boot camp program works if if these guys are shunted off the path that they're on um and they all get good jobs and live long happy lives fantastic but we keep coming back to the fact that that has that's not what we see traditionally I wonder if part of it and we're going to transition into the second part of this conversation cuz there is an article out this weekend on the conversation which looks into the research of this I wonder if in part okay let me put on my polyana glasses you know what I mean when I say that polyana Rose tinted glasses like everything's going to be fine everything's wonderful those glasses that did National play um you know hard ball to get the votes because they knew that their racist underbelly of New Zealand would vote for them if they said tough on crime and are they now going to deliver something that's less stringent with they what they told people people now I don't I don't feel like that is the case but like I said if a if a labor green government came out and they said you know one-on-one Mentor for 12 months supporting when things get tough you know support for the fam for the farno support for the young person after a 3mon block course probably we wouldn't roll the ey at that we probably go oh that sounds pretty good so is it that we just don't believe them don't trust them is that what it is and do they are they the group because they've changed so much from what they pledged and are not doing and have boughten things that they never pledge to do that it's like okay if you say that now prove it like you said maybe that's what it is yeah yeah no that that's there's generally the vibe that I'm with you know and again this this seems to be like full wraparound support and surveillance and ongoing mhip and that sort of thing you know we've talked a little bit about the cost of this and and and look I I'm going to be the first to cop to the fact that like again if it if it punts these guys out of the path that they're on then it's money well spent yeah half a half half a million dollars but it it just seems awfully convenient that that it is a blank check no expense speared for something like this and everything else we've spoken about has to be Penny pinched so gold says we don't believe or trust them that's a fair position given their recent history um there was another one by brother monk says that's what it is I'm assuming that's a response to what I just said we just don't trust them so let's move slightly for this conversation and let's go into this article um written by a couple of academics one based at uh aut I think and one based in um Melbourne the title is uh and this is the interview I stuffed up today guys and I'm sorry again by that it was completely my fault but we'll just go through a couple of parts from it and see what they say Gan Crackdown why anti patch policies backfire and what would actually work it's a very good article we'll try and Link it in the description you should go have a look for yourself and this just actually the reason I wondered that question out loud was because this is the part I've highlighted in the start of this JY says taxpayers may approve of such additional government spending if the policies work and this is talking about um you know being hard on crime right but the research evidence suggests these costly anti-gang measures May well have the opposite of the desired effect now this is talking about gang patches but if you think about um this from a 16-year-old in in a boot camp right and being labeled criminal that kind of thing an Australian gang law expert Mark lock has noted there is quote no sorry not quote as a link there is no conclusive data that gang busting legislation reduces Gang Related crime some suggest such measures May simply push criminal activity further underground Under The Heading uh how anti-gang police policy sorry backfire as one Norwegian study recently found criminal justice involvement increases rather than decreases criminal Behavior right so the more involvement that a person has with a Criminal Justice System the more it increases criminal Behavior that's what the data says and now think about the boot camps right I'll read it again as one Norwegian study recently found criminal justice involvement increases rather than decreases criminal Behavior the study surveyed individuals at high risk of offending right you hear highrisk offenders that's what we've been hearing over a period of 30 years Years Years there's a longitudinal study for you one group was exposed one group was exposed to frequent police contact while the other was not the former group that's the one exposed to frequent police contact uh reported committing more crimes than the latter the researchers concluded contact with police quote labels end quot individuals as criminals who then act accordingly to that label simply put frequent police contact can mean more crimes being committed more crimes also mean more people being victimized right so let that sink in now are these boot camps going to be uh more contact with police with the justice system with outside of the world are these are these kids being labeled criminals does that therefore mean as the research would show they're going to therefore act out as criminals and and when you ask Karen on new talk ZB what is what evidence do you have to to do this with and she goes well what we used to do and what they do in Australia and you've got a 30-year longitudinal study that you could go to if you wanted to uh under the title what expert knowledge can offer the article says this gang members their farno and organizations oh yeah you'll like this one you that provides social support for so-called hard-to-reach communities anyone remember that there's a little group called hard-to-reach know who runs hard to- reach communities have extensive experience with previous government gang policies these non-academic experts know what works fails and backfires but their vast institutional knowledge continues to be ignored or dismissed by policy makers now there's a paragraph here that I'll read out that I haven't highlighted it says this see if you notice any of these names Joey among them are Harry Tam and wson and Joanna Wilson from HTR hard to reach research and Consulting a a social support provider focused on community-led solutions they explained how gangs originally formed in response to structural racism in postwar New Zealand as outlined in this week's Royal commission abuse and Care report what they're saying is every time Mr luxon says why would I talk to Harry Tam this is the the answer because they I'll read it again shall I gang members the afano and organizations that provide social support for so-called hard communities have extensive experience with previous government gang policies these non-academic experts like Harry Tam Mr Laxton who you refuse to interact with know what works fails and backfires so when you go on to a television show and someone says would you talk to Harry Tam and you go why would I talk to him because these non-academic experts know what works I've got one more little bit Jo I know you're kind of fizzing to get in there but let's just do this last bit I think I've got one more little bit it's very end here so this is Under The Heading evidence as the basis of policy we argue the authors the current anti-gang policies will not reduce crime but they are likely to further alienate hard-to-reach community ities policies informed by evidence and expert knowledge will not only result in better understanding of gangs and the patch they would also be more effective in protecting the interests of the public in general so I know that we were talking about Karen chore in the boot camps but I wanted to bring that in as well because you can see if these if these kids are being labeled as serious offenders if they're being labeled as criminals and if they're having more interactions with the justice system the research would show they're going to offend more not less Chey There You Go sir have a crack yeah like there there are so many long-term studies that should like I'm not surprised by that Norwegian study at all um like if you feel like law enforcement or I guess you know the government or the the machine of government is constantly on you why would you buy into what they want you to do like just just from a human point of view like if someone tries to force you to do something your natural human response is to dig your heels in and go no no you want me to be part of this society that doesn't see value and me [ __ ] you I'm not going to and that's where the gangs came from these were the the get started with organizations just like what we're talking about now kids and kid kids in state care kids that were taken away from their parents because they were unruly uh or or their parents weren't up to Snuff according to the state yeah and that's where the gangs come from we've just had this huge crown and C inquiry into what went on there till 1999 and then as we know everything stopped and it was all better now fine now and and and yet again we've got a government that is going back to the trough the same old stagnant piss filled trough for ideas that haven't worked in the past but this time we will this time we've listened this time we've looked at a different country not any of the Scandinavian countries the other ones where we where we agree with the tough on crime rhetoric like the Australians are being with gangs and stuff like that those guys haven't solved problem like it's it's always there if someone's out there that has solved this problem and has a happy coherent Society because of it why don't we look at that no no we'll look at the UK we'll look at Australia and we'll look at the us all famously [ __ ] when it comes to Crime and Punishment especially with youth especially with indigenous populations doesn't make any sense we keep [ __ ] doing it and it's all because at an individual level people sort of go all [ __ ] return to monkey and go bad person need punished and that's the immediate thing yes people need consequences and that sort of thing but at the bigger side of things you can go well hang on what why has this happened you know yes this this kid is going to have to have some consequences for for [ __ ] whatever he did but why why is he like this yeah and how can we stop the Next Generation we need to break the wheel and that is something I'm sure Harry would agree with me on this that that once they're in there and they're broken and they get out and they have kids and they have broken families and then we just do it again and we do it again and we do it again and I kind of think that Karen Shaw knows this kind of think she's she's she's there but then he's gone completely the wrong direction I don't know if I got I'll get raged over the calls for saying this but I've done a bit of research on Karen chore and before she got into politics she was a property manager and that seems to be the area of work she work okay well well I retract my statement then cuz property managers are the worst people if there was some sort of camp for property managers I'd be all I'd vote for that there's not a bigger leech on society than a property I don't know if she was a property man the stuff I said was worked in now could have own I don't I don't know and look anyone could be a politician I I get it anyone could be a politician but to be making decisions and passing legislation and fronting kind of Youth criminal justice I just I would hope in an Ideal World someone would have some I mean like you know love or hate mark Mitchell he was in the police you know uh um yeah anyway um you know Melissa Lee apparently was a media before she got kicked out but you know what I'm saying and I just wonder how much of it is going and yeah I'm probably what whatever shaming her in some way but I'm if it was anyone I'd say it I'm just wondering to go from working in the property uh management space to be a one-year politician and then the next one term and then the next term you're in you're a minister with I just wonder and I wonder two things Wonder that what that means either if she's been left to do these things herself how much control she's got or if she's just basically doing what others above her and stuff for telling her to do and just going along with it I'm just I'm wondering out loud I know some of you going to think that's awful for me to wonder out loud but just it just you know I would like to have qualified people who are making decisions based on um you know the direction of this country you know what I'm saying maybe she is Maybe I'm Wrong maybe I'm unfair but it does it does make me every time I hear it speaking what I just kind of go what's what's the background here what's the experience here well I mean that's a good point when we're talking about other things right look like say we were talking about emission standards and climate change and that sort of thing and the deflection for that is like look I know this stuff I was a farmer yeah right that that's the most tenuous of links but that seems to be a pretty effective get the [ __ ] out of my face with your evidence I'm a farmer I understand climate change and it doesn't exist um but yet when we get into something like like this kids in care um breaking the wheel and and that sort of thing we don't get a politician that is even close to understanding that and I would be fine with it if some someone came in and said hey look I don't have any experience of this but you know what I am going to do I'm listen to people on the front line that deal with this every day yeah you know that is my job like I I don't think a politician necessarily has to be someone that comes from that industry it's helpful at times but if you're not that person can you at least listen yeah yeah do you actively want to help people and I don't know some of the things that Karen says I you know she's going to these facilities she's got eyeballs like she's I assume she's talking to these kids in these residential homes and that sort of thing is it sinking through like Erica Stanford's comments out the Royal inquiry where she was obviously emotionally affected by some of the stuff that she read yeah you know so you've got that far you've acknowledged that this is [ __ ] horrible and it happened to a real person and it happened because they were trapped in that Machinery right cool Park that look out what your government is doing now is that they're putting people into that Machinery again can you link those two thoughts together can you see the risk there and is it a case of like Risk Management where we just make sure that um the people that lock these kids up don't beat and rape them every now and then I don't know just do a touch base every three months and see if it's still happening or or do you see that that's an unsolvable problem when you like the that that famous experiment um where they they split a class into inmates and and um guards okay and they just just left them to you you know the study I I forget the name of the study no I don't know one of to I thought we were gonna say the one where they said that people with brown eyes were there's a very famous One people with brown eyes now had the moral High ground and very quickly the ones with brown eyes became Superior that's a good example yeah that's a good example because there's lots of experiments like this um oh the Stanford Prison experiment thank you Peter uh that was R on the tip of my tongue yeah they they they did the study in in a university you guys are inmates you guys are guards Cole um just just work it out and what it ended up with was the guards abusing the [ __ ] out of people yeah y you know they out of their out of their fellow classmates they abused the [ __ ] out of them and that that's the thing you set up that adversarial position you know it's something the police need to be aware of it's something the prison guards need to be aware of all of that sort of thing but that is what happens you know my partner was involved in residential youth homes and just didn't have she could she couldn't do it too empathetic yeah and it chewed her up and she couldn't do it anymore and so the people that that can maintain in that system they're not empathetic they can lock that part of themselves away you and so that's the interaction that these kids are going to have yeah or they are or they are empathetic with really healthy boundaries like uber healthy boundaries but because I know some good people who work in those areas as well and they're just very safe and healthy b but I hear what you're saying it's probably not the norm they're probably the exception rather than the norm Mr arvids as we're talking about um talking about Karen Cha's previous life just wanted to I never knew this but apparently luxen used to be the CEO in New Zealand so I've learned something tonight is that why he's the minister of all things that have wings um yes now let's just get some of these super chats and then move on I'm not sure quite what VES is trying to say uh read this tic read this article from 2017 look at what Winston said and then again I can't send the article through Super Chat uh big hering news@ gmail.com vacation you didn't need to give us $10 with the super chats for that but we appreciate the super chats T says uh they don't have uh they don't have evidence they ever dance I see what you did there hey hey a word playf for the Super Chat thank you also says Net's climate policy will give us D Eden did it again T June Eden the the oh June Eden even H King of the um puns tonight all right um yeah it's a i it's it's it's a I'm sometimes a bit I'm I'm a bit you know I'm bit of an optimist at the best of times but it's just like just what's I just don't this I just don't trust I don't trust and I don't trust based on like a previous text said based on the evidence before me of the last 12 months yeah and and look I I I would love to eat crow and I would love to be wrong about all of this I would absolutely love it I would gleefully be wrong about this yeah unfortunately because of history and context I don't think that I will get that opportunity but we'll see let's um keep tracking uh greens had a conference over the weekend in that conference over the weekend they started ask the question and begin the process to uh Force Darlene T out of parliament uh I said we said last week that they probably wouldn't use it the members of the greens uh not the MPS but the members the party members seem to be Keen to uh to shuffle old darling t on let's have a listen the green party has taken the first step to invite the Waka jumping law sending a formal letter to the XMP darling Tanner the process took to expel her from Parliament has to go through SP Circle of Death we'll just do this say this will be where they've changed the story and they've taking that video off we'll just go from the start here we go the green party has taken the first step to invite the Waka jumping law sending a formal letter to the XMP darling Tanner the process to expel her from Parliament has to go through several more stages and green party members will decide whether to press ahead at a special general meeting in a month's time one of those things you always say chy they're the most uh like Democratic group aren't they so you a m from wherever in the country you go along to the AGM and you vote um what other party does that I would suspect none political editor Mikey Sherman has the latest green party members brainstorming candidate selection processes timely given they've had two former MPS Fall From Grace let me be really clear this sucks this is not a situation that I think any one of us or our party wanted to be confronted with today the party took the first step in the wer jumping process writing to Darlene Tanner putting her on notice and giving her 21 days to respond given Darlene Tanner's lack of Engagement today do you really expect her to respond the balls in air Court the now independent MPS moved in alongside their party Mai raising eyebrows with the group greens I don't know if her Tiana yeah I've had I've I've had a chat we sit right next to them as well not awkward at all I mean she was sitting right behind them so I was like you know so you leaned over and you're like hey pretty much and if I can just kind of underscore that point we're not focused and we don't really care about the musical chairs so do the members want to walk a jump darling t uh probably yes uh I'm a bit ambivalent person yes we will not be taking further and the final step of writing to the speaker to trigger the party hopping Provisions unless we have the clear backing of our party to do so the greens have said over and over this weekend they are a party forged in Fire and while they've spent the majority of the year in the political pressure cooker it's clear the members are resilient and Chloe swbr is absolutely focused luxon and his government want us to stay distracted while he opens the way for mining CEOs to put our native species at risk and pollute our Rivers she's even galvanizing the greens to take it to labor we need to recognize that no political party is entitled to anything it feels like we could overtake the labor party or at least rival the labor party greens fire it up and coming out fighting Mikey Sherman One news so there you go Chey um it seems that there're they're putting them in place I still kind of feel that this party that was very very anti the anti- The Walker jumping law is Walker jumping um I don't know like like I said last week this won't make any difference to the parliament makeup you know it's not like it's a one SE majority and there might be a time in the future where they really do have to go against an honest held belief from the past and this doesn't feel like this should be the the one you lose it on you do it for the one that matters this one doesn't but I'm not there to make the decision yeah I I I'm a big supporter of the green party but I am not a green party member I don't think they should I don't think they should do it um I I understand what they're saying that um hey look it it ruins their proportionality they they've lost a a vote essentially in the house um but I think when you've been so vocal against something to then turn around at almost the first moment that it's convenient to do so it's [ __ ] annoying I I I understand how attractive that would be um but yes I I think this is another example of because the green party's processes are so Democratic and so transparent it is going to be like airing Dirty Laundry again so hopefully they can they can just find out what their membership wants to do and then just do it and and they can just go hey look we we are doing this because our membership has told us that they want it done yeah yeah democratically yeah you're probably right they'll get [ __ ] over it but they'll go yeah I I guess what we do is we put it to our our um our members and if they decide that they're going to change our policies and that's how we run it how do you decide what you're going to do on the ninth floor you know they could they could play it play it off well so to speak yeah yeah all right in the comments there hey you did wrong chy I might be it's an opinion um so probably not um as I said I'm not a green party member so I don't have a say in this at all um I can appreciate both sides but yeah you can't be wrong on an opinion it can be but we not necessarily either um James says did you know that luxon left in New Zealand $3 billion in debt yeah it seems to be Theo uh camam camam uh watch out for a creepy and unlikable politician lurking around he's like to Snapchat Miners and send frantic emails apparently he's the worst okay uh Mr avid says uh Tana's pronouns comment was super icky um was that when tonight in the article is that what you're saying uh the the um they them sort of thing because they never walk alone that we commented on at the time yeah and look I mean there was a little bit of push back from that on on YouTube over the weekend about that was a bad call by us it's just we were just saying it was incredibly um interesting timing especially because and I don't know if you noticed but in that article um um Chloe referred to him as uh to her as them to them as them uh and that's a we saying it just seems to be an odd coincidental time that's what we were already talking all of the literature all of the literature didn't have they them in them anywhere that that um T had worked with that's what we were and um yeah like my comments around that at the time were like it doesn't feel genuine it feels like throwing a smoke grenade um and I I felt that because of that it it cheapened anybody that does use those those pronouns you know if it's genuine awesome but maybe that wasn't the time to to roll that out you know much yeah um James says uh greens were against Walker jumping because of freedom of speech that's not the issue here I say so maybe if someone uh breaks ranks to want to speak truth to power so to speak and then you kick them out anyway yeah if that was the situation then I guess that's not the situation here is it it's not like a labor or or let's say a national party MP kind of going I disagree with this I think you're wrong so I'm going to get out of the party and then they kick you out that's yeah that is very different I guess because it doesn't seem that any of the policies have changed or the ideas have changed so yeah okay I understand and T again thank you Super Chat there last one she's causing them a ton of problems a ton of problems um I I thought oh God I had a thought just right there as well oh the the other thing I want to comment that the has this whole um ton of thing has has done has caused a little bit of a Schism within the party and that a bunch of members have resigned their membership over this oh really of the I I don't know if you've seen seen the story including a local denan counselor um there was an open letter read at the AGM um basically from Mod Pacifica members of the green party that were unhappy with the handling and and how uh T has been treated all right to the point where they have resigned their membership okay now again I think that comes Under the Umbrella of because there's such a transparent party it's the earring of dirty laundry yeah right um but some people feel very very strongly about this and if if any of those uh people that that sort of have resigned their membership want to to clarify that for me I'd love it if you could drop us an email and just um just run us through it um because that that kind of surprised me um just from news reports that we' seen um that there was that much of a of a ruction within the in the party and I don't even know how big it is how many people um have pulled the P Al righty hey um let's have a couple of minutes of fun now we are sort of uh we've got another story to do about the American election and stuff but I want to play I don't know two or three I'm not going to play the whole thing so some of them are very long um this is quite exciting guys we put this idea out there that maybe we could get one of you lovely people to design us a new theme tune for the end of the show and for the beginning of the show and we've had I don't know a dozen people dozen tracks come in maybe be quite that yeah it's been really interesting so why don't we just spend five minutes now playing two or three of them and then we'll play two or three of them tomorrow night and then two or three of them on on Wednesday night or you can just get yours in before then we'll make sure they get played and then what we'll do is maybe on Thursday or maybe if I'm honest maybe over the weekend I'll put up the maybe top five that me and chewy like cuz obviously it's got to resonate with us and some kind of uh poll or some kind of um some kind of way that you can vote on them then you can go and have a listen and tell us your thoughts about them um and I'm not going to say who any of these are from I'm not trying to andure you as much as you can and as much as how cool these things are try and just hold your thoughts and opinions as well uh let's have a listen to this one there's no lyrics in this one and it's uh it's unashamedly a Mell theme [Music] oh yeah you can you can feel it as an intro song e that's a bit stanky I like it um I thought this sounds like uh it reminded me of Real Time with Bill Mar it's got their Vibe about it oh yeah [Music] yeah and for all the people who have put time and effort in man we're really thankful it's it's it's quite lovely and gratifying we talk about having Community here and for us to be doing you know to be doing this and actually having people want to contribute knowing that some of most of you aren't going to get anything for it financially certainly um it's just it's just a lot of fun um how about this one well L has got words to it so we might have to give it a good 45 seconds have a listen [Music] help us settle a debate whether it be fful or funny even if we're all creatures of hate it's a fine line that we're walking together for better push aside the temptation to berate let taking note of the corners we stand in as many points as the hairs of my chinny chin chin when the news that we're watching is hairy knowing all the things that we need to be weary of like the rich have the hand up for rewards while the many have to work at what they can of Bo and the rest of us a paying attention or maybe have questions to wor to mention there you go it probably need a little bit of a mastering there cuz the the lyrics and the thing but but yeah it's very good it's got lyrics people have sent us the lyrics what they are as well one of my favorite lines that is the chinny chin chin that's the best line I like on the L so um let's do a couple more shall I shall I we'll do a couple more and obviously we don't have time to play all of them oh come on get out of there get out of there when you don't cue things up uh how about this one I this is this is specifically as an intro theme you listening here we [Music] go you have been viewing a bhn podcast oh that's exit one personally I'm just relieved someone is trying to cover matters in their entirety and that's the T so what did politicians say exactly why are they passing those legislations who is really going to benefit from all of this and why and why and why why [Music] why when you need to tune in so there you go there's pretty dope I like that one and I think this goes hand in hand with another one which is the show's about to begin have a listen then we we'll wrap that for tonight uh the show's about the begin one here we go ladies and gentlemen and whoever else may beiing this is an official warning that the vhn show is about what politicians policies blown out I like blown out so much it's great this has got a great line at the end where it says something like the the exit rows on the sides of your device or something like that have a listen started together we can make a change to VH to vhn started please fasten your seat belt the exits are located on the buttons and switches connected to your devices oh there there is a possibility you are about to be informed on the current affairs in New Zealand by two big hairy BLS did you that have beenn you have been warn so yeah look honestly guys it's actually really great it's really amazing that some people have put a lot of time in there's more that's what we'll do for tonight all right there's more and um if you want to get your thoughts in and get your entry in remember we're giving away 500 bucks to someone um because we offered 250 and someone said that'd match it as well so it's 500 bucks so yeah it's it's pretty cool it's lots of fun and thank you so muche though yeah I know what a spread I assume the scar one that I requested is is is coming later on in the week I don't know don't know oh you're not even going to tease it for me okay that's fine I don't know that's why I'm sure it's happening I'm sure it's um it's been a lot of fun keeping an eye on the American election at the moment um Mr JD Vance Vance this dude here in the background the the the former president of the United States gets wow there's questions arounded to get shot now there are some images of his ear and it doesn't look like there's very much damage there at all BR and um and he said in one of his his farts out on his social media that he had a had lost the top part of his ear it doesn't look no one suggesting that the assassination wasn't for real obviously but how how ridiculous would you have to be to play up on the assassination attempt like how how how much worse is it to play up on the assassination attempt like like pretending you much more injured than you really were than it is to kind of talk it down like I actually think it's worse to do the other uh anyway um he survived an assassination attempt and he still couldn't crack 40% in the polls chil so they got him into 40% the 40s for likeability and now we's had JD Vance come on board and there is lots of talk going around that he is unhappy about JD Vance they selected J Vance honestly thinking that Biden would stay so they've set up this ticket to fight against an old white man old daughtering white man and now they've got a young vibrant young 59 young for them you know um African-American part Indian um candidate and they don't know what to do and we said this last week the right at the moment are running around screaming this is not fair this is not fair and the left in America at the moment is just smashing the right it's really interesting JD Vance is not helping the situation um I won't give away too much let's just have a listen to this is a terrible television station but it doesn't last a little sort of 90c synopsis of what's been going on uh and there is a revenge of the cat ladies coming have a look don't mess with the cat ladies a comment made by Donald don't M with the cat struck a nerve across the country he once called kamla Harris and other politicians childless cat ladies now women who have cats and no kids are notice who's over the shoulder just a just a couple of high rollers uh Taylor Swift and Jennifer Aniston so that who he's insulting just you know they've got no influence at all chewy no influence whatsoever good Lord pting off the back including Jennifer Aniston and a lot of swifties as amogan reports the claw are definitely out Republican beep candidate JD Vance is igniting a firestorm for once calling citizens without children childless cat ladies we're effectively run in this country via the Democrats Bea via our corporate oligarchs by a bunch of childless cat ladies who are miserable at their own lives and the choices that they've made and so they want to make the rest of the country miserable too you look at KLA Harris Pete budage AOC the entire future of the Democrats is controlled by people without children made the comments in 2021 when Tucker Carlson was a Fox News personality the video has just resurfaced there are people who have chosen not to have children for whatever reason there are people who want to have children who cannot how dare you I am hearing from so many girlfriends lifelong Republicans that are so offended even Jennifer Aniston is offended in a rare political State Jennifer Aniston doesn't get involved in politics that's the other thing to be aware of how how sort of rare this is to her 50 million followers and she posted I truly can't believe that this is coming from a potential VP of the United States the 55-year-old actress who has been open about her past struggles with fertility spoke directly to Vance I pray that your daughter is fortunate enough to Bear children of her own one day so yes uh when you piss off the swifties and Jennifer Aniston in one foul swoop um it's trouble so what many places have done is they've started to go and do uh the childless cat lady power list and they have on here people like Chelsea Handler and people like Taylor Swift uh literally on the person of the year with a cat um I notice they don't mention in here Ina you know they've got lots of musicians in there like DOA cat Kylie J uh kie Ray jebson uh I was going to say um I was going to say Oprah as well I don't think Oprah's got daughters children I should say um and so it's just got from bad to worse and then he tried to clean it up by doubling down and and it worked out fine didn't it perfectly one of the people in this clip one of the people in this clip makes it a very good point and this is what I was trying to get to earlier is that he is weird and there are a lot of people calling him weird at the moment and it's quite a good tactic because he is weird he's a bit weird and now you have to think about this person look Trump won't be alive at the end of the next term I I I predict purely because of his natural attrition nothing else so you're looking at the person who could possibly be the president of the United States of America offending a huge portion of the female vote who could be president adding more fuel to the fire tonight doubling down on his remarks about childless cat ladies obviously it was a sarcastic comment I've got nothing against cats I've got nothing against dogs I've got one dog at home and I love them Megan but look this is not focusing so much sarcasm and not on the substance of what I actually said and the substance of what I said Megan I'm sorry it's true it is true that we become anti-am it is true that the left has become anti-child Joanna Kohl's joins the table she's the chief content officer at The Daily Beast Joanna welcome childless cat ladies and that cleanup I mean what did you make of it clean in with JD Vance I do think there is a moment now I mean the internet is so full of memes about him everybody is laughing at him I actually wonder if he's now if we can have the conversation is he the Sarah Palin of this campaign it's very difficult to get back from the levels of humor now being created about him and this um the democrat's response that he's weird he is weird and that only works if someone's weird if I say you're weird or you're you're weird it doesn't well you're a little weird but but it doesn't really work it works with him because he's a little strange he's a little off and I think it's sort of fascinating and his doubling down on it is crazy there you go CH I've got a couple more things to play but I'd love to give you a crack as we're going along there's still there's still more to come like what he has also said and also him liking to pleasure himself with a couch and all sorts of other things still to come but but you but you you can off oh my god um he is the gift that keeps on giving jie Vance I I I mean the whole thing of like oh yeah you you're concentrating on the sarcastic comment on M dude you're running for vice president every every comment you make is going to get um like pulled to bits and looked from every single angle that's that's one of the things but if if if you go out there swinging at women that can't have children women that don't want children and and this is a huge amount of people I don't think you really realize how many people that is yeah and and the message that it sends to people as well is the only way that your opinion woman has any substance as if you're a vessel for another person there's more to come there is absolutely more to come on that like more to come in this you earn your voting rights by by giving birth is is that on the ticket wellow I I'll give you some it is not quite Jes chist not quite but let's have a look at this as well uh so what's with that rumor that JD Vance had sex with a couch so if you look up what I'll do right now is I just put JD Vance couch like honestly the um the um search the stories going around at the moment are just look couches couches love hearts couches just everywhere and the thing is it's not true but it kind of doesn't matter I guess they're playing the games that the Republicans are playing it doesn't matter if it's true or not it's worked enough to make him look even more foolish um on July 15th the day the Ohio Senator was confirmed as Trump's 2024 running mate X formerly Twitter user person's name wrote that quote I can't say for sure but Vance might be the first VP pick to have admitted uh in a New York Times bestseller to [ __ ] an in side out latx glove shoved between two couch cushions Vance hillbill elery page 179 to 181 while Vance's Memoir contain plenty of gross generalizations about blue collar workingclass Appalachians he did not actually describe a sexual trust with a hapless piece of a upholstery regardless the claim took off with vengeance so he's a laughing stock for what he said and he's a laughing stock for things he hasn't said but has became the perfect Target of me sorry Joe it's also a brilliant illustration of something that the writer really good about is is that you can go okay so so the evidence shows that it doesn't it's not actually true yeah but I'm choosing to disregard the evidence to say that that that J van had sex with a range of of Lounge Furniture um CH La [ __ ] [ __ ] your facts [ __ ] your Felix [ __ ] your for JD Vans um and you were saying before about a woman's value right so this is one of these moments where it gets so very very close and why I would almost support what he's about to say that people who who have children should pay different tax rights have a lesson I'll go back to something I said earlier about we need to reward the things that we think are good and punish the things that we think are bad so you talk about tax policy let's tax the things that are bad and not tax the things that are good if you're making $100,000 $400,000 a year and you've got three kids you should pay a different lower tax rate than if you're making the same amount of money and you don't have any kids it's that simple totally agree so Cherry do you have any ideas why I I think that's not a terrible policy should I just tell you because most people most people who have lots of kids are poor they're not people with $100,000 income or a 400 $1,000 income in America they're often poor and brown but so that's not who they're thinking of they're thinking of wealthy white people with four kids different tax rate they're thinking about the people in mated Community they're not thinking about the people in Central South Central Los Angeles who may be a solo mom with four kids but if you're going to do it that's actually so you're saying that those people should have they should be taken they should actually be treated better you know if you actually now look at the policy and move forward with it I guarantee you if you had to look at the number of people who had multiple kids the average uh number of kids poor and in America probably black and Latino would be the would be the highest group of people with the most kids so yes let's tax them less I like that idea chewy that's a really good point is that these dudes only think about the people that they know their Circle their Echo chamber they are only thinking of white right-wing Americans for all of their policies yeah and they think it's going to work because they think they have that all nailed down his idea makes sense for the people that he knows yeah it's it's that [ __ ] shallow yeah yeah he's this but he's this close he's this close to the people this is a horrible term and I apologize but it's what the Republicans would say it's this close to understanding that the people that they call qu unquote welfare Queens would do quite well under a policy like that so yeah go for it I'm down he v v and stupid and there's one other aspect to this conversation from the weekend and that is the rumors are that Donald Trump Jr is the person that talked his father into um going with JD Vance and now I want to I want to show you this clip to see if you can see a panicked Donald Trump Jr when you panic you tend to kind of you know you're a bit edgy and you kind of talk a bit quickly and that kind of this has not been sped up right in any way shape form whatsoever Donald Trump Jr for some reason interviewed JD Vance on a podcast or a I don't know something like that and just I get the sense he's panicking he's scared he's going to be ritten out of Daddy's will or something this is a few Clips smashed together of Donald Trump Jr um talking to JD Vance have a listen like there some of them are like we don't even want white women like it doesn't like we need to check like three or four boxes so you can end up in like if you're like you know a trans communist this that and the other like you too can be the CEO of a Fortune 500 company with no experience whatsoever he's actually spent real time with them like he sort of I was say he's the blue color billionaire and 15 years ago when I said it people used to [ __ ] all over me like what are you talking about I'm like you don't understand and now they understand the borders are wrote the article it wasn't even like the are you are you following any of this remember this is Clips CL together a person who's a bit nervous literally save democracy it's literally at risk J that's why notion that you know democrac is all things but it's if we if the elite meaning you know Barack Obama the clintons a couple billionaire donors be like yeah the elite billionaires like like your father no no not him he's not Elite but hang on what okay this isn't working we're going to take everything we gave you we didn't give you any other options we threw you know RFK off the ticket I think you've got the idea to me I a panicked man because uh Daddy's probably not that happy at the moment about a certain Choice made for VP who Rumor Has It Junior talked him into and it looks like Junior's trying to do as much work as possible as you can see by the number of words spoken uh to try and help JD Vance not be the weirdo that he appears to be Che we I'm going to go with the chat here as it might be a little bit of panic but it's certainly a fuckload of cocaine could be that or maybe not maybe maybe not even cocaine maybe it's a like a a legal stimulant or something as well but yeah that was also muted holy [ __ ] that I I I mean it's pretty clear that the trumps the Trump kids are trying to position themselves for politics at the same time why would you um honestly why would you if you could have hundreds of millions of money yeah but you've got enough you got more money like like [ __ ] what what's his son Kushner got given a billion dollars by the Saudis to invest in his so-called company why would anyone well I mean if you got of millions of dollars why would to president he's adj to a president absolutely you know you you might be in the hot seat and not be making much money but everybody around you is making it up and they're all giving the you know render to Caesar what belongs to Caesar that's what they want they want a dynasty America loves a political Dynasty and the Trump next I can't understand why anyone would want to be it he's going to have a crack at it Ian's going to have a crack at it you know it's it's it's it's we're looking at Decades of this shitty shitty family like I I I I would oh God the things the things I would do to get rid just um out of my brain there was a t-shirt that I saw it was um Jordan Clipper going to one of his rallies and there was a T-shirt and had that exact thing on it it even went down to Baron had like Baron 2052 or whatever it was like even Baron was included in the t-shirt and then Jordan Clipper pointed out very quickly um that they're all only one tomb he said you only got them with one tomb because it was like Trump 2024 and then it was like such and such 2028 then it was like such and such 2 and it's like he' made a mistake which is not to be unexpected so oh there you go that probably won't happen but but I I want I want Baron to get out I want him to go I I I want Baron to to just free himself of this family and I don't know do something rad I was going to say normal but not normal just not what his rest of the family does if he just disowned them and went and surfed a beach and barley for the rest of his life I would raid him for that do you know that probably happen he's 6' s yeah he's enormous he's a normous it was fascinating it was fascinating to see him just towering over I wonder where those genes come from obviously Trump's not the father Trump says he's tall yeah I think he means round so anyway uh there's a few chats here that we want to get to um Peter for $2 thank you sir here's $2 for the virtual bus Cas um kie apologizes thank you for the Super Chat Peter again says a man who likes to the of the chase uh and then kiwi for $2 thanks for Super Chat Mana make America normal again so they're up to date now with all the super chats is any other anything else in the chats you want to get to did you don't answer don't answer me don't answer which one it is but what we play tonight did you um did you have a favor of those themes oh hard to say yeah I think so out out of the three that we played I think I have favorite there and and it's all up for grabs when we play some more um as far as as chats go I've got a couple this is um coming back to the hospital discussion we were having at the start um hospital will eventually get run down to a I don't know one of those portable cabins that you buy from the warehouse I assume at some point one of those Mash tents one of those green army MASH super good Army's already got them um cam says National said let's get this country back on track and all we've got is undemocratic laws under urgency bumbling incompetence cruelty and Society regressing in so many areas yeah yeah very good backwards well done and P Pam says uh our Nelson hospital is a shocker reminded me two weeks ago how bad it was uh it's too small chaos people in corridors and beds is an old out ofd deteriorating Place staff are wonderful and deserve better and so do we as patients um I can also comment from a hospital that I visited unfortunately over the week not the one here in Den but I had to go up to U hospital um and uh when I was a young fellow a lot of experience with that that hospital um my younger brother was very very sick when I was a child so I spent a lot of time there um and when I went in there it looks it looks like they've done the hospital up fantastic new Lobby and that sort of thing and as we went through the hallways and we got to the stairwell where the lifts were I recognized that stairwell from when I was five wow like it is unchanged so they have almost put a new front door on this Hospital from the 50s and gone job done the thing about the denen one that I don't understand um is it's going up like like the front facade is going up what are they going to do are they going to make them put up three quarters of the facad and go right now stop their Lads we're not going to do it like it's it's it's being built it's not like it's on the plans and they've cut the budget back to take a wing out it's like it's going up incredibly quickly or at least the facade Around The Outsiders so I don't know how they can change unless they're just going to basically now say well there's going to be no beds uh no MRIs no x-ray machines but you'll have the building and and some pillows like how are they going to cut back so essentially you you've kind of nailed it there is is there are the there's the essentials yeah for the hospital that's not up for debate but then there's a list of the nice to haves and and the the the of future proofing so there's there's a second um MRI uh room and that sort of thing and they've got to sort of build that in um it's very hard to retrofit later so it would be great to have it in there but it's also very expensive there's also expansion Wards there's also the teaching annexes for the hospital and that sort of thing obviously Den needen hospital is a teaching hospital as well um and a lot of that sort of stuff is like well maybe we can do that later and what do we know about infrastructure ructure if you put it off and you do it later it's going to be [ __ ] more expensive yeah MAA Pan's got it toota coroller of hospitals just need a a nice secondhand Corolla of hospitals just just even just a new Corolla would be fine we're not asking for a [ __ ] Ferrari Hospital we're just not a 1996 Corolla we're looking for a brand new Corolla that will last [ __ ] 50 years not one that's already 25 years in the hole all right Brian tenner says go to the golf carts I'm not sure why unless Brian's been watching uh laser beam videos on fortnites so that might maybe he's been watching that that's what I've been doing I've been addict I'm addicted to those videos um is there anything else sir cheery or are we done uh I think that he has covered everything I have uh to talk about so yes yeah let's
