to 14 Celsius that's BBC Radio Scotland news Scotland in the UFA Nations League it's absolutely brilliant from Scotland this is sports sound from BBC Radio Scotland [Music] welcome back to sports time with me Kenny McIntyre we are live from the National Stadium upcoming 7:45 kickoff Scotland against Poland in the top tier of the Nations League alongside me here this evening lean Kon Willie Miller Steven Thompson and Tom mingles we get the thoughts of some Scotland fans shortly we will also have a we debate on a subject we've touched on a few times on Sports on the recent weeks and Steve Clark mentioned it last week and that's the SFA report that basically found that we are failing our youngsters not enough youngsters getting game time not enough youngsters breaking through so get the guys thoughts on that so plenty to come between now and 7:45 here at H dep par the Scotland players are out on the park down Bel they warm up no sign yet of the Poland players it's filling up nicely here at the National Stadium the Polish supporters down to our left hand side they're here in good numbers let's get back to our match commentator this evening Liam McLoud Liam you can recap the team news for us yeah Scotland start with Angus gun in goal three alterations in the Outfield players from the last team which was of course against Hungary in stutgart in June so there is of course no Jack Henry in the squad K McGregor retired from International Football she Adams dropped out of the squad dangus gunning goal as I say Rolston Hanley McKenna Robertson who goes level with Craig Gordon in the cap Hall of Fame he is now one behind Paul mstay middle two there Gilmore now of Napoli alongside mlan mcin momy also of Napoli nowadays and Christie behind lynen dkes for the polls some familiar names there if you're into your football if you watched at the Euros Poland had this disappointing a campaign as Scotland had really just one point as well for them though they were in a a pretty brutal group lost to the Netherlands lost to Austria were one of the uh much fancy Dark Horses of the tournament that knocked them out before Scotland went out actually they did manage a draw against the French in their final group match it wasn't enough they went home R about the same time as the Scots did so Martin bulka of nce is in goal the back three there Yan bner of Southampton alongside pav doich of Verona with jaob Kar of Arsenal on the other side joined Arsenal last year he played regularly though he hasn't managed any game time yet this season for his Club H chav frankovsky of lws in France is the right wi back over on the other side Nicola zesi of Roma born in Italy came through the Roma Academy he's got polish parents he is earning his 22nd cap the middle three supporting the strikers then Sebastian zamansky of fenerbache P zilinski of inter played a couple of times against Rangers in the Champions League during his eight years at Napoli a couple of seasons ago with h catcher oransky of Bologna 19yearold over in the other side from Gdansk made his debut against Ukraine in a pre-tournament friendly in June and then went on to play all three Euro 2024 matches in the first month of his International career and the front two are full of goals shov Pion of Istanbul basaki here in Turkey he's already scored eight goals in nine appearances for his Club this season and ominously for Scotland he scored a hattick at the weekend there against antalia sport just on Sunday and he scored here as well late penalty in the 1-1 draw in the friendly two and a half years ago and he's partnered by the man who needs no introduction when it comes to polish football Robert levandowski who scored 344 goals in 375 appearances for Bayern Munich 103 and 187 for Dortmund and as Barcelona record he's currently at Barca is similar 63 and 99 four of them already come this season levandowski is I think the only man in Polish football history or certainly since bonc played zby bonc he's the only one who can rival bonac when it comes to the greatest ever polish footballer levandowski probably just shading it by virtue of his astonishing goal record bonc of course part of that polish side that reached the World Cup semi-finals in 1982 they are coming here despite the problems that they've had recently they come here confident according to the coach According to some of the players who've been speaking in the buildup to this one and they will be targeting three points tonight that's for sure yeah just to say that if I can sum up what our pundits were saying about the team news year that Liam just recapped for us I think it's fair to say not surprised but a little disappointed with the team that Steve Clark has gone with tonight but we have to trust the national team manager that we can get a performance and the result here at the National Stadium just a couple of people getting in touch Jim Yulan saying learning lessons is 100% vital he doesn't need to tell you me or anyone else other than the players and his coaching staff about it he just needs to do it John Lind says look forward learn lessons and don't dwell excited for the new campaign so this new campaign is the top tier of the Nations League Liam and you can give us a brief explainer if you can about the importance of this when it comes to World Cup qualifying you ready for this it's Willie ready for this remember Willie shaking his head when the Nations League was introduced you should see what they've done to it now Willie look right first and foremost Scotland you'll remember were in league b last time around finished top of their group it was much celebrated at the time they drew nil nil with Ukraine and krov it sealed top spot sealed promotion and more importantly guaranteed them a playoff for Euro 2024 Steve Clark said after that game he didn't think the players would need a playoff he was right he was spot on with that um so Scotland now fight themselves in League a against some of the behemoths of European football quite clearly now some people might wonder how it's linked to World Cup qualifying well it's with the World Cup and it was the same last time it's not quite got the same tie as the European Championship does there is still a route there but if you want a fallback playoff back door if you like through the Nations league for the World Cup you need to win your group now we're Scotland going to win a group with Portugal Croatia and Poland and I think it's odds against that that would be the case so you could probably rule that out but when it comes to the World Cup qualifiers and the draw for that is at the end of November UF have introduced a new quarterfinal round in the Nations League which is going to be played in March at the same time you know the quarterfinals actually are for League a so if you are able to finish in the top two of your group you'll take part in the quarterfinals if you finish third you have a playoff match in March against one of the runners up in league b in one of the groups there so you're going to end up in a position where the World Cup qualifiers are due to start in March and you're going to have the Nations League the latter stages of the Nations League running concurrently with that previously it's just been a semi-final and final played at one of the participants um host country last time it was the Netherlands who hosted it that was in June so those teams would be popped into a five team qualifying group for the World Cup or european Championship This Time Around the World Cup qualifiers are going to be half of them are going to be groups of five the other half are going to be groups of four it's drastically different you know if you consider you you've been in six team groups in the past just four for those who are going to be involved in the Nations league in March now when it comes to the seeding and the draw for this is at the end of November whenever this finishes this the N part the Nations League finishes Scotland if they want to be in part one and there was a possibility that if the if UEFA went with the Nations League ranks it didn't matter where Scotland finish in this group they would have been in part one cuz they're in League a the Nations League now what they've done is they've taken the top or they will take the top eight ranked Nations League teams put them in pot one that's where it stops in the Nations League they then go to the world rankings now this is why it's great for England because England are in league b this time around and you would think well they're going to struggle to get to pot one they're going to go to the world rankings after that and England are so highly ranked in the FIFA rankings just now they will almost certainly be pop one Scotland if they don't finish top two in this group and they don't pick up some good results or they don't pick up some good results are looking at partt three wow that's going to be tough So that obviously is going to have a massive impact on their chances of getting to the the next World Cup which is in uh in North America and in Mexico in 2026 Steve Clark you heard him earlier that's his big ambition but the problem is part three and if you're unlucky with a draw after that you could have two huge teams ahead of you big big teams that and and Scotland success has coincided with a kind of higher ranking they've been in higher pots in qualifying campaigns recently so they haven't been in the position where they ended up finding themselves in you'll remember back in 2006 when they had France Italy and Ukraine in the same group all made at least the quarterfinals of the previous World Cup there so difficult to get up the pots you drop down the pots you're in big trouble and the reason UEFA have tried themselves up in knots a little bit with this one because they're running Nations League games at the same time as the World Cup qualifier start you you won't know the F make up of your group for World Cup qualifying because they're going to have winning quarterfinal one will will come out of one of the pots and that'll go into one of the groups loser in quarterfinal one goes into another one so teams will start their World Cup campaign in March and they're not going to know potentially who the top seed is it is honestly you look at it we're talking about this in the podcast your head will melt if you try and get in broil as I did yesterday and there's not much up there but what is up there got tied in knots and honestly you waer have done that I think I think they've just over egged the Nations League this time around I would be astonished if it works and I'll be astonished if they return to that the in the next edition of the Nations League there's too many games and now you've got two competitions on at the same time in international wind there might not even be enough International Windows to complete all this it's just it's incredible get a brilliant job Liam there explaining a very complicated process yeah what whatever he was talking about he did a really good job of explaining k k I've taped it I've taped it and I'm going to listen to it back up the road to AB to be to be to be still things to beir flag this up in the podcast it's a old phrase but you know what I mean he flag this up in the podcast hold my phone up he you're laughing happening no no no no no no to your credit you flag this you flagged this up in the podcast today's podcast and I did go at your advice to go in and have a look at it and my head to also kind of I I I needed some migraine tablets trying to figure it all out but it is it's it's it's not great it's not great at all but listen let's simplify all of this Liam was 100% right in everything he said it's murderously complicated look simplify it Scot needs tonight yeah that's that's that's pair all back Scot need to win this match tonight right let's get a feeling of how the fans are ahead of this game tonight I say the first game since the disappointment of the Euros in Germany our reporter David Curry caught up with a few earlier on so ladies we in the party team being dampened a we bit by what happened at the Euros no Scotland's your team isn't it you know so you can't country yeah that that's your country that's your team so you got to stay behind them good or bad you got to stick with them support them that's what supporter is how you think the game is going to go tonight 21 21 to Scotland are you looking forward to seeing any of the the younger players perhaps coming on yes uh see if it's going to be a bit different I don't really know cuz a couple of the young ones were just drafted in weren't they so I don't really know the young boy that's with Rangers I think he'll do I think he'll do well yeah yeah I think he'll be a good player and maybe just need a bit of time the the ones from the Ryan Ryan gold Ryan gold yeah R gold I so look forward to seeing well hopefully he gets in I don't know what the team is yet obviously but yeah looking forward to it it's a we bit of a special occasion is it not for you ladies yes what is it supporting my country you sitting together uh yeah yeah sitting beside each other we've got tickets in the Scotland side just at the very front row so it'll be good yeah well I'm Keen to get your uh various thoughts on tonight's games Ryan you first Scotland at a first game since the disappointment of the h no I'm confident for tonight though I think we'll win 2-0 2-0 John mcin double all right Lena now Poland for the disappointing EUR as well one point same as us um you feel believe it was his first team to be knocked out Duos and the second team to be knocked out Duos very interesting um obviously I'm not I'm not sure to be honest they are quite up and down sometimes but cross my fingers we all win today yeah is this the occasion to get over the disappointment of the Euros a clean break in some senses yeah 100% I'm I'm confident for tonight I think it will be a good opportunity for a comeb back for us are you looking forward to seeing any any fresh blood on display this evening uh yeah yeah obviously cuz we had the injuries so momin's not playing but yeah I'm hoping all the new players coming will do good for us'll be the big threat from uh Poland well the man himself leowski uh he might be playing today from what I've heard um obviously he's had a couple injuries recently and um he is quite close to retirement I think a lot of people are expecting that somewhat soon but I hope he shows what he can do on the pitch anyone in the Scotland team worry you Lena I have heard a certain John might be a bit of a danger on the pitch some Scotland fans there speaking with a reporter David Curry as you heard before the team news was announced they were hoping to see the likes of Ryan gold got an opportunity tonight Connor Baron was mentioned that he was a late call up to the squad after some players pulled out well he the national manager in just a few minutes time kick off here against Poland in the Nations league is 745 Tom just want to touch on something that the manager actually mentioned in that media conference last Wednesday we discussed on Sports and we had the the SFA football officer in Andy gold it was a good debate and actually as a result of that debate I had chairman get in touch Academy directors getting talked so there a really good debate online with our our listeners who are all engaged all feel that something needs to change I think that was shared by our pundits on the program a couple of weekends ago we'll do more and I think there's talk of a podcast but you had a good look at the report and and everyone knows that things need to change basically the findings where we're failing our youngsters in this country yeah um let's get it's a very comprehensive uh report um it's over 100 Pages the findings of it it's a lot of comparisons to what other clubs in or other countries in Europe are doing uh bringing through uh young players and nearly all of them are doing it better than Scotland are doing it and outline a lot of the explanations for the the clubs give for their lack of minutes afforded to Scottish under 21s and it's Myriad reasons and also I mean this the stats coming out your ears it's a stats stats Paradise um or stats hell if you if you want to put it that way because it just shows with absolute Clarity the number of minutes that 20 under 21's uh played in in the Premiership last season and it's it's pathetic it's pathetic um and outlines a lot of the reasons all it's outlines a lot of potential Solutions and I just don't see I think the most Grim part of the whole thing is that I don't see it despite all it's been a stellar piece of work it's catching fire at all I just I just don't think clubs will have their own reasons for not doing this and there could be 20 different reasons and I just don't think it's going to get any fraction sadly yeah Pat Evan has joined us Pat you're working with our colleagues in five live I know you're going to give your thoughts in the Scotland team in this game but we're just discussing the report by the SFA that was produced a couple of weeks ago said we're failing our youngsters from your experience we can bring our all pundits in here what do you think would help there's been talk of a quarter system you amount of under 21 players have got be in the bench but that's not what in the past has it well we tried it I was part of the group that actually brought that in um backing PL days when I was at mother um we fought hard to get that and um teams just found the ways around it and he ended up we two people just sitting in the bench and not going a sff um but if you make it so you have to use under 21 players then it's on the clubs to then make use of that you need to stick by it so I understood the reasons for that there's so many substitutes on the bench now there's you know people won't necessarily use them so that's a shame that what you need is to buy him from everyone and I know it's almost saced to say it but you got to look down south and just look at what they have done for years and years they never created G they never created creative players it was actually very very few of them have a look at them now absolutely coming out their ears there's millions of them now so we need go and have a look what have they done have they looked at a set a special set of coaching type of coaching through theirm and one of the things that theem do down there is that they work together it seems odd but you know you talk about the fact that you know it's a Central Area obviously they had that Spain as well a central area the French that before that a clear F so we don't do that what we have is a different Academy everywhere everywhere everywhere everywhere and there doesn't seem to be any joined up thinking with it now I'm not inside that system anymore I used to be inside that to some degree I'm not anymore but if there was any way at all you could get heads to bang together with top SCS clubs to try and work that we're not using this young kid he's not going to get through with us but I'll give him to you a lot you can maybe bring him through might make you look slightly better but it makes the whole of Scottish Football better because you get these kids a chance I can remember talking to um Joy bran mcir cuz he did um you know run the youth development and I think that was the thing that upset him most the fact that he would find it very very difficult to get byy in from a lot of the clubs with each with a central ideology yeah I mean for me part I think to try and get the players exposed to uh it's high a level of football you know not not the development side of the game I think the development side now in Scotland only goes up to 18 usually go up to 19 I don't think sitting on the bench or having quarters is going to be the answer but they've got this cooperation system that they're talking about where they can loan players out and it's not it's not you know it's quite flexible you don't have to register them you don't have to go there from window to window you can put them out and take them back you know with in a window something like that to get these players exposed at a younger age because they aren't getting the chance and if they are involved in the first team they're sitting in the bench and they're not getting any minutes on the field to play well we've got a problem on top of that because we get some really good young players coming through right B so what's he doing now theyve lost him way down we're talking about him getting Scottish International cap here and many fting games has he played is it 5 six seven you know okay it's been Celtic it's been Liverpool but it's not first games you need them and I agree with you completely that you know I'm looking around here all play top level football all of us here that are are chatting tonight when did you get a first game what H were you 17 yeah 17 17 yeah 17 right me 17 right we all going to 17 you look at a lot of these players now this exactly speaks to your opponent will they're getting the odd game now in their 18 19 but they're way down because they s if you're getting your first season of real games in 21 you don't get those four years back in do you no and these are four years where you learn who you are and you learn not to be fearful and you learn to be brave and you learn the trade you don't get them back and I agree with you that one of the ways around that absolutely is if you can loan out and make sure they're getting professional games at some level please make it happen yeah we'll do more on this it's a good debate I think we're going to put a podcast out in this in the coming weeks a lot of engagement on the program a couple of weeks ago part I think if I can sum up what our pundits were saying about the team news not surprised but a bit disappointed um you know I've try to think getting Steve's mind I've not it's a dangerous place to be um but honestly I think he wants to make sure there's a security at the start of this game you know so he's went they tried and test it here i' love to know the system how it's going to work out is Kenny playing on mcdom going to go beside Gilmore is there a possibility you put momy in the back five and stick with that I think that that's unlikely I'm not sure that'll go and I don't think it'll go down very well around here either um but I think he wants the security and if there a period of time later on the game you can start experimenting you'll do that slowly but surely but you have to remember there's a group there and the group ethic is if you walking and say right well you've stuck by me D or Christy or whatever but I'm going leave you now I'm going to bring some youngsters and you go oh thank you thank you very much I'm stuck by you all this time you know so you have to watch the team dynamic as well that's a big part of it I know I know it's sacriligious and it doesn't he sell newspapers but the chances of us winning this competition this this the a level here are limited they're coming in first or second why not experiment then so what you want to do is make sure you don't get hammered and learn so slowly but surely over 3 four five six games if you can experiment and bring these players in and don't destroy them you bring them in and bring them out and see who's capable at various times then that might work it's be a bit dull it's a we bit slow horses kind of thing it may well be the way St cl's thinking I'm just trying to think the way he's thinking um and I suspect that's where he's going is it not his personality though I mean Stevie manages this way does he not I mean very rarely do you see a team that comes out and the surprises in it you know we're chatting before and some of the fundit in in the Gant were hoping we hoping for changes you know and some of these young players to get an opportunity and be quite honest I couldn't see it I was firmly in the camp that he was going to go over the tried and tested there's a game here to be win and he wants to win the game and the experiments can be shifted a little bit F on and that's how he would think by the way that's not right or that's wrong that's just one methodology I mean to be honest I would I know Ryan gold you know he's he's 28 now 29 something like that 28 and you know no International experience really but he's precisely the type of player that we need for creativity is a good enough version of that player I don't think any of us know yet and you only find out when you give him a chance so I can either hoped he would start or certainly get a good part of this game and let's see what he's capable at this level um maybe Gold's the one that possibly for me deser the chance in there cuz that's what we miss that's that's exactly what we said uh earlier on Pat like we're not talking about experimentation here I'm talking about one player ran gold not talking about Max Johnson I'm talking about Tommy Conway I'm not talking about anybody else I'm not talking about Ben do CU he hasn't played since December it' be Reckless to put him in we talking about Ryan gold a player that gives you a bit of width gives you a bit of creativity it's not a lot to ask for I'm really disappointed that he's not starting I don't know how good he would be in International Football I just don't know T see if you think they're giving him one half give him the second absolutely give him the second give him 90 minutes I don't know if he'd manage it but we if you if you know you're going to give him one half and you're going take a chance in an experiment right and you're going to have a play like that thing is creativity how do you create you create when you get Space you get more space in the second half so I would if I was going to give him a chance it would be second half um I suspect Stevie if he does give him a chance to probably be 60 minutes but I mean I've been in the position myself and once remember playing up at that strange place what it called yeah P for Scotland very strange Place very OD we're playing against Estonia and under up Craig Brown Put Me Center forward along with um Kevin gaker and the eyebrows were lifted I could I could feel them you're talking experiment now aren you exactly and you know and I was thinking well thank goodness G they gave it for the start but you know nobody expect it and okay so I was slightly disappointed only scored two and made the other one but you you got to give people a chance at some point and if I was Ryan with a limited options he's had just now and and I he would see outload flimy for the start and his heart give him a second half that probably be enough today well we shall find out thanks to P EV for joining us on Sports just about here from Steve Clark Tom I was saying ell it's filling up nicely but ear on in the SFA were saying around about a th tickets were left what we're about 30 minutes away from kickoff here a very healthy contingent of Polish fans down to our left hand great color from them down there a lot of baners up it's a bit slow filling up would you say yeah but like you know we don't know what's happening outside we don't know what the transport is like we don't know if there's if there's if there's bedum outside trying to get in we don't know let's let's see what it's like come kickoff uh I think it'll be pretty full I think it'll be nearly full and but it's what what the team needs isn't it big positive home support to try and get them firing again this this tonight is all about kind of putting the wheels back in the bike just a go to just a fast start a goal a moment of magic something like that for us all to engage with it's it's amazing and it's amazing the amount of um footballers not just footballers but other other sports Elite Sports people right they say when they're in a slump and I don't know Willie lean and Tomo can can can talk to this but a lot of them have told me right when they're in a slump all it takes is a couple of good passes or a couple of positive moments and they're kind of find themselves again you know it does it just doesn't take a lot to flip the switch what also really contributes when you're on the pitch and maybe things haven't been going well is the BS and that is why it is so vital to start the game well and get this hand and Cloud behind the team we saw how powerful it was in the qualifying for the euros and then after the the Euros we saw how negative the impact was when you're on the pitch the team can be carried so much at every single Club especially here for the national team when you feel loved when you and when we went on that run the players went out onto the pitch never expect them to lose because they had the belief but the belief comes from the whole as I mentioned at the top of the show The the whole nation getting behind them they think God everybody absolutely loves us we're going to do this and smash it since then it's been negative and the Run of one win in 12 games has been negative and that's again why I was saying Steve Clark didn't want to hog back to that in his press conference that's why he was trying to move things forward whether he did it correctly or incorrectly um so that for me is such a key when you're on the pitch and you get that buzz and you hear the the crowds when you've taken a good touch or you do a nice V anything a lay off you close somebody down and win a tackle um it really lifts you as a player yes obviously if you're in the team and you're scoring goals and you get your first kind of two or three touches away and they're good you feel good about yourself but the crowd is so so vital and they are going to be vital for and always have been and always will be for the national team moving forward um and again to reiterate tonight is so important to start this game on the front foot let's not start it in the pedestrian made it we started the games in the Euros where there was a lot of sideways passing and we had possession of the ball but we weren't doing anything with it let's do something with it let's give these supporters that are here something to get on the edge of their seats with yeah not look I would agree I think football can change really quickly um I'd interested to know even coming into the camp in the in the past week how that's felt because I know as a player at times if you you feel like it's a status quo that can have a negative impact and it it almost feels like it's the same thing that's happening over I just wonder if there's been a freshness in terms of the staff and the way they've approached it how they've gone about it with the players how they've integrated the new players and I suppose time will tell because we'll hopefully see a freshness in the group when they take to the pitch because not to make excuses but I do think that in the summer they were absolutely shattered they were gone we were relying heavily on too many key players to perform and our key players look pretty bang average over there uh in Germany so I think tonight as Tomo touched on if you can get the fans on side early doors brilliant if you could get an early goal I think would be absolutely top draw because the fans would then believe that there's been change and that there has been a Fresh Approach and that Scotland are back to winning ways John M higher up the pitch Ryan Christie getting in about players having that goal threat Lyon dkes working an entire back line on his own getting Midfield players to join in getting Scott mccy going for box to box those are the types of things that we've really enjoyed watching um this Scotland side in particular so I think it is couple of passes it sets a tone and as a player you then think to yourself right the Euros is history now we move on now we've got a belief that we can go and certainly achieve things and I just hope that that is The Vibes that we get tonight well let's hope so let's now hear from the Scotland manager Steve Clark he spoke with the media yesterday I think all the games are important obviously we've touched on the summer was disappointing we have to move on so this is the first game for the players that have been playing at the start of the season to go to the club they they have a little freshness about them uh for me it's been a long summer and I look forward to the game and and see what we get from the players I'm sure a big reaction I saying to Andy that under you Scot become a team that gets to tournaments that is now in the top TI of the Nations league as a manager how do you then get the squad to compete at that high level to get you the kind of result and success that you want given that the bar is being raised looking for the fact that you qualify you get there the first time we didn't do what we wanted to do you get there the second time we didn't do what you want to do so you have to keep looking to get there and you have to Target the glass ceiling and say no Scottish team's ever done it probably a little bit more quality when we get to that level when you're playing against opponents of the level that we played against in the summer when we play against the opponents of the level that we're going to play against now in the in the Nations league so we're slowly slowly trying to find a formula that will break the glass ceiling in terms of breaking that glass ceiling managers always like the teams to to evolve and improve can we expect a different Scotland a more attacking Scotland what what can we expect all be you're clearly playing very good teams all of whom are R much higher in Scotland how' you screw that Circle way Evolution you used the word yourself is evolution not Revolution obviously this time we have a significant number of injuries that probably impacted my squad selection a little bit which means I've had to dip down into Scots under 21 Squad probably too many times if for being honest because the under 21s also have a couple of very important fixtures coming up but that brings us that brings us on freshness uh is important and I've mentioned it before is that we respect the core group that have managed to qualify for back-to-back uh European tournaments but then within that Core Group you have to try and add a little bit more and and hopefully we can add something that that makes us better it's not going to happen overnight it's not going to happen across the two games that we're going to play now but I'm looking at this campaign in the Nations league and thinking this is a chance to try and evolve the group so that when we do get to the World Cup qualifiers we're in a better shape ready to go again and ready to qualify for our third tournament at four I think it was something I touched on before actually we went to the tournament that we knew that coming out the other side there would need to be a little bit of freshness in the in the squad uh I didn't envisage so many injury issues uh so many call offs but that's given us a freshness that that's maybe more than would have been if it had everybody fit and available but still a nice freshness and for the for the young boys who come into the squad they've brought that enthusiasm and that breath of fresh air that Galvanize and and give the the senior players a little bit more life so it's been a good couple of days we want to make it better Scotland in the UFA Nations League live on sport sign from BBC Radio Scotland there's no substitute Steve Clark there speaking to the media yesterday I can see the Scotland players in the tunnel still waiting for the Poland players see all the masket in there getting high five a fantastic experience for them a night they will never forget Willie apart from the obvious a win what are you looking to see in this Scotland team tonight I think definitely energy and and confidence and you know a positive attitude towards a game as well you you know opportunity to take the ball forward to pass the ball forward should be taken you know but I think it's really important how you start these games as well I think confidence grows with you know a good early start and you know lean and Tomo touched on it um you know is about that and and I think it's about the your first tackle it's your first pass it's your first you know header it's just doing everything right early in the game and if you can do that as an individual and put that together as a team as well and have that that mental approach to it that you're going to take the game to the opposition you're at home it's at hamen it's a really important game of football let's start in a positive mood and let's try to put the Euros behind us that's the key message it's leam because we hear all the time about the importance of moment of confidence and Sport let's put the Euros behind us let's put the 1 one and 12 behind us let's start this campaign on the front foot tonight get the fans right behind us attacking football a couple of goals and it's an entirely different feel absolutely um that's what it's all about look you've always get another opportunity that's a beauty of sport and football Le touch in the amount of games um the tournaments that are running side by side in order to get to the major tournaments the reality is as a footballer it's where you want to be out in the pitch given absolutely everything that you've got for your country and Scotland have got an opportunity again tonight this place it it will be almost close to capacity I would imagine by the time the ball starts turning it's what you want as a player playing in front of your home fans the colon fans tonight will give absolutely everything is well to their side they've turned out in their numbers if you can get off to a winning start tonight it would be perfect and absolutely it puts behind you the disappointment of the summer and you can move forward positively yeah we can see the manager down below as the players are out ready for the national anthems let's then hear the national anthems before we hand you to your com team here at handen part this evening lean Kon Steven Thompson Will Miller and Le McLoud first of all the national [Music] anthems for [Music] thank you very much and now led by our room Piper Stevie small thean for Scotland FL of Scotland [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] oh [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] all [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] thank you the Roar from the Scotland supporters Poland is not lost the Polish national anthem well received as well by what I have to say is a fabulous away support obviously there are quite a few polls live in Scotland and it's perhaps the majority of those who have come along to hamon for the game this evening but those I'm sure amongst their number will have traveled from Eastern Europe for this one and the beginning of a new tournament normally at this point is when optimistic levels are going through the roof not so much on this occasion perhaps for both sides really both Scotland and Poland flatter to deceive at the European Championship Finals in the summer both picking up just a single point from their respective three games you would have to say the Poland group was particularly difficult though given it at France the Netherlands and Austria all in there was the 3-1 defeat by the austrians that really did for the polls they were out after two games Scotland at least did something to play for by virtue of their draw with Switzerland but the insipid performance against Hungary was punished by that Tob goal late on stoppage time and saw them exit yet again from a major tournament Scotland and Poland ready to go head to-head for the 12th times the polls have one three to Scotland's two the other six were drawn including the last twice they met competitively in the qualifying campaign to reach Euro 2016 it was 2-2 in Warsaw Scotland LED that one 2-1 before a goal from aradius Milik saved a point for the polls and it was even later when Robert levandowski second of the evening denied Scotland a victory in the penultimate game of the group that coupled with the Republic of Ireland's victory over Germany that night saw Scotland's campaign and bid to reach the finals in France end with a game still to play the referee down there the swed 35-year-old Glenn nyberg he's in the middle he upset both Byer Munich and Arsenal for his handling of their Champions League quarterfinal last season he took charge of three matches at Euro 24 including Romania Ukraine and Albania Spain Dutchman Dennis higler is the V tonight Sweden has so far refused to adopt the videoo assistant for their Club football right then what has this campaign got in store for Scotland they're and amongst the big boys now in the UEFA Nations League having been promoted from League B it's all about League a repercussions for this game and the rest could be felt into next year in the World Cup qualifiers but for tonight it is Poland at home and arguably the easiest game on paper as Kenny McLean kicks off Scotland in the navy blue with white and yellow flashes Poland all in red and Scotland going left to right attacking the East End of the stadium Poland towards Mount Florida as it bounces off the knee of John mcin down in this near side and out for a throw in Scotland coming into this nation's League campaign with a pretty good record in this tournament it's been pretty kind to them save for the odd blip you think back to Dublin the last time this tournament was played in particular they've played 16 they've won 10 lost just four in their Nations League campaigns in the past as they look to make an impression here and Kenny McLean's on to it rolling it out to that left hand side for Robertson it does look as though Scotland have started with the back four that we were talking about with Hanley and McKenna at the center points of that Rolston right Robertson left be interesting to see just how much of an attacking threat Robertson can be without his pal K and TI in beside him and the back 3/5 as it's rolled back to McKenna now of last Palmas in Spain and he squares it to Grant Hanley and you would imagine lean important for Scotland to get an early feel of the ball try and dust off the cobwebs yeah absolutely you just want to get a footh hold in the game so far it's looked good every this is a good run by mcom fed to him by dkes mcom across the face of goal and there's nobody in dark blue to get onto the end of it and Martin bulka the Polish goalkeeper let it go across his bows and it's picked up over on this near Side by zivi and then the challenge goes in and out for a fall and throwing that was quite encouraging down that far side it was it was a great bit of L cup play from Lynden daks only problem was when the ball was slipped through to mctom who had made a great run down the left was it was just John mcin that was left in the Box obviously um dkes had laid it off so when the ball did get flashed in it was only John that was there he couldn't have made up The Yards to get on the end of it but a very positive start from Scotland you can hear it's already lefted the crowd 70th C this evening for John MC Andy Robertson up to 75 made his debut for Scotland a decade ago more than that now against Poland in a friendly in Warsaw which Scotland won one- nil thanks to a goal from Scott Brown and that uh came just months before those European Championship qualifying games between them at least the first one which was back in the National Stadium in Warsaw where Scotland will finish this group section see what place they're in at that point here is Jakob Kar of Arsenal collecting for Poland looking for a early feel of the ball themselves low ball down the left hand side for zki of Roma couldn't get away from Gilmore having got away from Rolston and Gilmore rolls it back along the grass to ml who might actually find himself in that position quite a lot tonight because Scotland don't play with the two center backs very often as mlan drives it in the Midfield he goes down the referee reckons he was fouled there by Pon Tech and that will be a free kick to Scotland Midway inside their own half but he will have lean an important role to play to try and support Hanley and McKenna yeah absolutely he's rocked in there uh just to L the game actually thought he was ever so lucky there because I don't think there was too much in the The Challenge certainly but the referee's given it in the favor of Kenny McLean but look mle in there Gilmer certainly is a natural two when you see it's a 42 31 um both in and out of possession but both midfielders and the two deeper ones are going to need as you say graph to link the game both defensively and then get to the opposite end of the pitch to support underneath it well one B by bed narck of Southampton back in the Top Flight of course no longer a steuart Armstrong or Adams's teammates though Scotland International Stuart Armstrong not in the squad neither is Adams Armstrong has just completed his move there to Vancouver White Caps and he will play with Ryan gold who's among the Scotland Subs as Poland picked up a free kick just left to the center circle with zesi brought down and there's a little bit of transition for Poland you consider the peers of Robert levandowski down the years been plenty of them peace glak kovski gleck kovak all long gone from the national team as they pick up just outside their own box yalinsky 12 forwards cut out breaks back Poland's way the pass forward bounces back off Kenny mlan eventually it's going to Ricochet back through to bulka the goalkeeper all six six of them playing this evening plays his Club football for n and uh once being turned back they are into box to BU again he'll be coming up against Rangers in the Europa League later in the campaign sink ball onto the chest to leowski come very deep to get onto it just moving it back the way there to David DOI played up towards halfway when it's headed forward by Gilmore into the Poland half the Clos his whistle and Scotland have a free kick Scrappy few minutes here 5 and n well yeah I think it was just for offside as the ball was flipped into uh P I think it was but yeah L raising his flag it's not been a bad start from Scotland obviously they had that cross in just on a couple of minutes into the game they're all managing to get a touch of the ball which is really important early doors really celebrated topping that league b section was going to guarantee them a playoff place for the European Championship though they didn't need it unfortunately unless they finish top at this section there'll be no guaranteed playoff for the World Cup finals in America Canada and Mexico coming up in a couple of years time have to win your group for that to happen and you finish outside the top two of qualifying next year and that could potentially be a route to the playoffs which is perhaps what you want league b would be a good place to be or League C potentially to get into the playoff by that Scotland have had their prize already from the Nations League be tough to get another one out of this one Robertson clears his lines it's Poland picking up wide on the right hand side with jansi roll back onto the halfway line picked up by David doit who slips it to his left for kok to the right for Bernar he's taking it Forward at walking pace into the Scotland half slips it in field and it will be turned by zilinski out to this left hand side for zevi skips away from mcen he's at the edge of the Box decides to shoot then gun just flops down onto it holds on the Scotland goalkeeper who is uh earning his 14th cap 18 months after his debut here at the start of European Championship qualifying last time around lean kryon yeah that's a early chance isn't it for for Poland the first chance really to go and get a shot off allbe hasn't really come too much but I like the structure from Scotland so far under underneath the ball good numbers Midfield to taking up good areas so far they seem to be dealing we discussed at the start of the the program with the two up top how that would look for the central defense of Scotland it looks okay just now they don't look outnumbered Poland don't look to me like they're overly aggressive with that too leowski as you mentioned a couple of minutes ago dropping quite deep to link the game as well so Poland's still probably looking to find your Rhythm as well yeah I think as Scotland fans you were kind of looking at this group and hoping that levandowski Modric and Ronaldo would all have gone by this point all of them remain with their national teams obviously fancy a go at Scotland in this Nations League campaign albe it Ronaldo at a very disappointing European champ chionship but still clearly the Talisman for Roberto Martinez's side they are taking on Croatia and Lisbon tonight they'll keep you up to date with that P and have B it back in the Midfield levandowski just shifting It Forward oh it's gone in that's from about 30 yards how on Earth as Ang's gun being beaten there shimansky I think it was picks it up and smacks it in off the right hand post and Scotland's Nations League campaign has got off to the worst possible start 8 minutes in Scotland n Poland one should the goalkeeper have got to that though I don't know it's a scary surface and it's an incredible hit it really was a brilliant hit in off the post so we need to see the replay but it comes from a a we pass from Kenny mlan he's trying to be cute just nipping it into Billy Gilmer Billy Gilmer was looking for a foul I didn't think it was a foul myself and from there um it was leowski who picked it up fed it in and the ground just opens up he able to stride 10 yards forward with the ball with nobody him it is a long way out when he hits it I have to say that we'll get a better look at it here just from the replay behind the goal but shifts it onto his left nobody goes to commit him it's a really good hit for me McKenna needs to go to the ball yeah yeah he's ball watching I'm talking about the structure underneath it but when there's no pressure on the ball and you're the closest player you need to go you need to at least narrow the the distance between the ball and the player and the strike yes Angus gun probably is going to look back at it and think he could have done better um but they've almost just used McKenna as an angle to get Beyond him and that's why then it's come off the course but I really Co start from Scotland as you Alum it is a nightmare start for Scotland Gilmore looking to spread it out to Robertson to control so Poland lead at hamon it is there supporters clad in red and white off to our left that are making the noise as Gilmer slips it to Miller and up onto the line for Robertson back to Kenny McAn Willie Miller's watching this one with us as well let's get Will's take on that goal anything gun could have done anything McKenna could have done Willie I think McKenna could close his Spas down a little bit has a fantastic strike though with the left foot from zensi um and I think Ang is going is pretty close to I'm not too sure if he got a fingertip on or not it's in off the inside of the Post Yeah you could point out that perhaps he could have done better but for me I think it's a quality of the strike and perhaps the defenders in particular uh McKenna not closing their attack of down fourth International goal for Sebastian shimansky ofer Bache in Turkey he made two appearances in Germany against the Dutch and the French as he looks to Chisel his way into the starting 11 on a regular basis that kind of goal is going to help his cars 10 in and it's the age old problem for Scotland another goal potentially could have been avoided with better defending and Scotland find themselves behind Portugal find themselves ahead against Croatia Dio dook of Manchester United has scored the goal Portugal W Croatia n and the St in Lisbon so early blows for both the croats and Scotland here under the lights at Hamden Darkness beginning to fall on Glasgow as McKenna slips it to his left for Kenny mlan who gave the ball away actually in the turn it to be the buildup to the goal as Rolston goes back to Hanley who goes back to gun and when you see the replays of the goal any immediate criticism of Angus gun could be diluted somewhat there was a fabulous hit from jansky here comes Scotland on the left Robertson's long footed ball in and the goalkeeper comes doesn't get there Dykes trying to win it back the ref's giving a free kick I think he feels dyes and fou the goalkeeper at least he's coming to try and sort something out and it's in the gloves of Martin bulka and he just plays it short to his right there for Bernar so to yet another goal conceded in this Dreadful run Scotland are on this one win and 12 without a comp ative clean sheet since the game in larica a year ago that is the 29th goal they've conceded in this current run of 12 and a bit games yeah and to think when we started the Euro qualifying that was a big key strength of ours was defensively we look really solid and keeping clean sheets it seems you know at this minute in time or certainly for the last period of time whenever we do give away possession we're punished the thing is when you're playing against top opposition and most International Teams are now when you do give the ball away cheaply or when you aren't structurally sound they will capitalize don't Tex on to it Midway inside the Scotland half wrestles it back off him up to the edge of the center circle flashes it with the left to Robertson on the left hand side drives across halfway up to the Midway point of the half now he's got support from chrisy managed to keep it in he's done well there but he can only poke it straight to the feet of yan Bednar who smashes it into the north stand on the far side and Scotland will have a throw in Midway inside polish territory a couple of times Andy Robertson just played the ball out the pitch and he always did it again to to Ry Chris just a break done it there a big switch straight out over but it's that straight passing up the the the by line and I'm not sure chrisy knows where to stick a twist with Andy Robertson is he getting in his way and Andy Robertson's going to go solo or as he looking at link the game which tells you it looks like a pattern of play that Scotland have not really worked on too much because it's almost like they're making it up when they get into that final third they just need to TI that up a little bit good Header by Hanley to beat levandowski in the jump now with mlan the Midfield Christy with the flick now the feet of Momin at the edge of the Poland box he's gone down the ref sees that as a free kick he was tripped slight complaint there to the referee by oransky of Bologna but it will be a free kick to Scotland and this is just right hand side of the D at the edge of the Polish box Steven a big opportunity this yeah it was a lovely we flick around the corner from Cy taken on by momy driving at the Polish defense he was clipped and this is a huge opportunity I think John mcin standing over at Andy Robertson I think Andy Robertson will probably hit it but it's only 20 yards outle slightly against him but you've got to be taking the shot on here he's the only candidate at the moment as Robertson approaching the 14-minute mark Scotland trailing by a goal to nil if you're just joining us here the National Stadium Robertson stands over a Scotland free kick just outside the Poland box right of Center goalkeeper bulka is sorting out his wall which is a fourman wall with a another one just uh a foot or so away to the left as Robertson looks at this eyeing up the goal huge goalkeeper bu Robertson then left the ball to the edge of the box with Tom many side towards goal and it's block and it's a compl utter waste just H it your 20 yards out I mean I think we try and overthink sometimes about trying to be cever with set plays and obviously they were looking for something that they worked on in the training ground there but the Polish Defender reads it it's instantly blocked and cleared when you're that close to go I would never know why you just have a strike especially with the amount of bodies in front of you might not execute it perfectly but I just think there's always a chance it's going to end up back in the mix if it doesn't hit the target you've got a second bite at it but you're right Tomo just over complicating it opportunity missed rolls it out to Robertson on the left infield to mlan short ball there from the Norwich City Vice Captain the Norwich Club Captain behind them Grant Hanley hasn't seen much football this season here's MC Tomy on the left hand side be hoping to see plenty in the BL of Napoli nowadays alongside Billy Gilmore as a clubmate of his now as well as Christie reverses into the box momy chases benar slides in gets it away Robertson crosses in it's away and it's a foul by Lynden dkes there on the defender on the 6yd line as he brings David doi to the ground and that will be a free kick to Poland on just about their six yd line there Scotland nil Poland one as I say Portugal have started well they are the favorites of course for this group and was working on them earlier on the Portuguese ahead of that game on Sunday that is going to be a frightening task you think this is at allall order tonight especially now Scotland are behind and up against the Portuguese in Lisbon that's going to be altogether more difficult challenge they going to try and dig themselves out of a hole here as Poland pick up down the right hand SES the wing back frankovsky on it just now just shifted in field there to the goal scorers mani and man down there zamansky picks up the loose ball it's switched out to the left hand side of the penalty Veri loses out to Rolston and now it's with M trip and that will be a Scotland free kick just outside the own box yeah better play isn't it from Poland looking to try and get in behind your stretch the Scotland back line something that they've probably not been able to do going to cross the pitch but Anthony rouson deals it really well and John M just uses his game intelligence gets his body in front draws a foul and just slows things down but you think Scotland at this point probably goes against the Green they would have come into this game as positive as we have looking to start the game in the front foot then the what if is if you go behind how do you react how do you look to get back in the game and certainly they they've looked to do that there been a couple of patterns that play more positive higher up the pitch as well but you're just looking for just that little bit more just more aggressive I think going from A to B there's not really been much to enjoy over the course of the last 12 months with Scotland save for actually qualifying for the the tournament itself when they weren't playing last October the Scotland fans were in Le to enjoy that City ahead of the friendly against the French last October when news came through that Spain had beaten Norway and Oslo to send Scotland officially to Germany was that hour to 70 minutes against the Dutch in Amsterdam that's about it really though you know Scotland played very well for big spells though even Ronald kman was surprised with the nature of what turned out to be a 4-n win is tomin slams into challenge in unorthodox fashion in the Midfield and Poland have a free kick just outside the center circle in their own half they Lead 1 nil here in Glasgow yeah 17 minutes in and the goal apart there's been very little between the two sides I think just how sloppy the goal was in terms of the giveaway in the middle of the pitch and then obviously not defending the situation well enough once seninsky started bearing down on goal it's been a major disappo point we have asked one or two questions um and it's an attacking sense but I wouldn't say at this minute in time Poland are batting is are they looking by far the better team so at one n just stick with it the crowd haven't turned they're still behind the players and it's about trying to just stick to the game plan just now 1 n you're never out of a game pulling in possession left hand side of their own penalty area and taking a time over it the the player that momy wiped out there was the goal scorer J I and it is the PS on the ball here it's not forward to levandowski and it's not the best touch in the world Scot get it back but only briefly Gilmer's been fouled free kick Scotland to the right of the center circle on this near s side you can hear John mcin barking away out in the pitch there not sure who he's having a go at I think just to the referee Liam the fact that the the PO just kicked the ball away just a bit of time wasting I think he's just trying to get in the ear of the referee just to make sure it doesn't happen especially when you're chasing the game when it's only 19 minutes in but that sort of time was and certainly frustrates you as a player as as time goes on and you're looking to get a go back so with Hanley rolls it out to rollston on the sne side takes a touch knocks it down the line from M on the halfway line holds off his man looks for the big switch here big Up and Under off to that far side for Christie who does win the header heads it back towards Robertson wasn't like he was being unchallenged though and he's giving away the free Kick the Scotland Captain over there bringing jansky crashing to the ground free kick Poland right at the center circle Stevie Clark down there with his hands behind his back looking out at the pitch it's his opposite number Mel probers who is the happier stepped up during the last qualifying campaign Poland actually only won three of their Euro 2024 qualifiers and they were beaten away from home by the group winners Albania and by the minnows mova as mcin SS it forward for Scotland to the left of the box christe into Momin just got stuck under his boot there there and an Under Pressure he puts it high and wide left hand side of the goal frame 20 in Scotland n Poland one it comes from a brilliant reverse pass from ble Gilmore into John mcin who in acres of space he plays it out to the left again chrisy in miles of space probably could have driven with it sees the pass first time into mctom he' made a good run but he's off balance just as he hits it good pressure from actually the Polish Defender putting him under PE but it was actually really good football from Scotland it's almost a 3v2 Scotland are in brilliant play really effective football simple stuff it's everything that you want in terms of getting from a tobs I was suggest in a minute or so ago mman just looks to take on himself better though took a while to take the goal kick there and it was the defender David DOI he did do so rather than the keeper shifted out to the far side and vnar Under Pressure but they've seem to have played them themselves out of trouble pretty well there davidovic finds KR on this near side the strides up to halfways balling in the midfields not great but it's actually worked out okay for Poland it breaks to to man given away though and now it's Christie out to the left for Robertson stretching his legs as a look up at the box to see what's in there two arriving three now he's over hit the cross though and it's headed half away and it's going to be picked up here by urbansky he shifted out to this near side for zki and they giving it away in a dreadful area ping is rolon to Gilmore FS it back between the Polish half for mlan to Momin at the edge of the Box mcin goes down fouled SE the Swedish referee it's another careless free kick given away by Poland oransky this time on his opposite number seven John mcin and it's going to be a Scotland free kick just about the level with the edge of the D of the Polish box and maybe a couple of yards away from the right angle of the area yeah it's a good area again uh smart play from John M uses his body so well draws fouls more often than not if he doesn't see doesn't have end product you'd like to think Scotland would have a better opportunity here and certainly do more with it than they did with the previous one yeah you could forgive them passing to the edge of the box when it's at this angle but previously it was the goal was right in front of him 20 yards out Robertson elected to pass it to mctom instead what can he conjure up here we know the quality that Robertson has Poland Lead 1 nil we played bang on a quarter of the match Robertson swings into good one headed towards goal by mcom and he's got it over into the net then Scott mctom celebrates yet again he does it for his country nodded it towards call he came ghosting in at the back post and he has forced it past bul to get Scotland's Nations League campaign up and running officially it is a 10th International goal for Scott momy and it's Scotland W Poland one yeah absolutely brilliant it's all in the delivery all in the delivery from Andy Robertson the left foot with talk about where the previous one you passed it Ed of the Box this time he whips it with the left foot the runners start in Scotland bodies check out Mom it's a great run at the back here as you say he goost in he gets the first contacts I think he should score the first time I'm not sure exactly which body part it comes off to be fairing the way down hand yeah I don't think it is Le your spot on it's all about the quality of that ball in from Andy Robertson it's superb and the timing of the run from Scott m it's going the referee's pointing as if it's going to goar here goal given I goal given um but the Tim in the run from Scott Momin to stay on side and look himself around the back oh no I don't think the goal's been given I think it's been disallowed oh what hand ball you've got to be kidding me oh the Scotland players are totally confused as well it looks as though it's been ruled out and Poland have got a free kick inside their own penalty area drama here and not for the first time Scott mommen he's been denied an international goal this whole slump started when V intervened and ruled out his goal in Seville last October that one's been ruled out too when the ball comes in it it did look as though it maybe struck him on the arm but his arm is down by his side is it because it's led to a goal I think that's the thing it has it struck his hand when you see the angle there yeah and all be his arms can post his body um his hands you know his arms no not at all but it is the fact that it's l to the goal well the angle from behind the goal was more conclusive than the one that we saw but when you did say which body parts it come off you did hope it wasn't the hand and it's just the kind of lower arm isn't it that it's bounced off of it's actually come off the PO unlucky because he's not meant it at all nobody's really spotted it fness thear official was obviously very very quick to point out to the referee that it had hit his hand had that been Elsewhere on the pitch I don't think it would have been given as a hand ball because it's led to a goal or a goal scoring opportunity therefore I think the referee's got to to take it back really unlucky from Scotland yeah he didn't even come over and have a he was he was the Dutch V tonight Swedish onfield officials but the long and the short of it is Scott momin's goal doesn't stand and he's got to wait some more for his 10th International goal as he tries to get into double figures have got his ninth against the Swiss in Cologne in the summer but that's uh that would have got hammed in firing you could hear the noise when they hit the net but now there's a hush descended amongst the Scotland supporters in the wake of that without a doubt it would have get the fans fighting but you could see the the output of emotion from the players as well want a relief to get their noses back level but I think the the positive for me is actually a couple of free kicks that was drawn in the edge of the box as well yeah look at this brilant run from Robertson down the left charging up to about level with 18 yd line and he plays it off the defender and it goes out of play for a throw into Scotland over on the far side to frankovsky he did well he battled away from jansky got the ball back from mlan did Robertson and just drove down that left hand side I think he was looking for the foul the referee played Advantage though um but it was good play from Andy Robertson a couple of nice neat one twos and then he was clipped but the referee I think just let it go he's been making that point to the referee as Robertson has to settle for a throw which they've taken and ultimately it's come up a Scotland booting out for a Poland Thro the attacking moment comes and goes and it remains here at handen after all of that Scotland nil Poland one 26 with the goal out with the goal Le I mean I would have to say that we've looked the more threatening of the two teams yeah no I would agree there certainly not been too much cause for concern I think Scotland have looked to move it looked to control it um as I say Midfield looked really comfortable Poland haven't threatened in behind and I think that comes from the fact that Scotland are being more aggressive with their press as well at points Scott mom's jumping and it almost looks at that four to4 because mcom jumps for Midfield you've got M and then Christy joining dkes up top so there is an intent to win the ball higher up the pitch which I like may we get Willie Miller's take on how this game's sitting at the moment just when he's ready and yeah prepared Willer with me no it's I think it's pretty positive for Scotland a lot energy in the game The High Press uh you know Poland are not dealing with it they're not being able to get any time in the ball and and build it up they had very few for his up front and and and really Scotland have dominated the game very unlucky with with the goal you know the delivery absolutely perfect delivery momy's run was superb he didn't meet the ball properly you know it was a rather Scrappy finish to it but there's no doubt it did come off his hand so that's why it was not allowed but good performance fill of energy good T you know forward passing as well Andy Robertson really prominent down that right left hand side as well so it's all positive apart from the score line unfortunately yeah Poland won nothing up the mctom goal it didn't stand there very similar you might remember to the one he scored against Israel late on was a huge victory at the time in World Cup qualifying as John mcginness fouled down on this near side that will be a fre kick still up six or seven yards inside his own half in front of the Scotland manager you watches on down there he'll be just as frustrated as the probably 42 43,000 Scotland fans here here tonight where and the Swedish referee indicated that it was a hand used by Momin as it drop back the thing is if he catches it as he wanted to catch it on the head and it goes in then there's none of that debate and it's 1-1 which is what he should have done Liam Will's right he gets it wrong because he's he's enough time and space I think in the quality he's all in the delivery he needs to go meet it flush with a head and it's in the back of the net turn by on the near side he's dug out the pass into the midfield for mlan who takes it on Central Area rolls it to the left just shifting it to Christy Robertson in the overlap Christy at the edge of the Box shoots for goal it's wide of the right hand post he's claiming it took a touch for the corner and nobody else is backing him up and the referee says goal kick to Poland we played 29 and a half Scotland nil Poland one John again did really well he's under severe pressure every time he receives the ball I felt as old Christie he was one when he received the ball to cut in and go onto his right foot and get that shot away but he did have the overlap from Robertson which I think if he'd seen it out the corner of his eye would have been a better option but he's got every right to take it on and have a shot didn't just get enough curl on it caught it too flat at the other game in Nations League a group one still Portugal leading Croatia one- nothing thanks to that doo doo early strike in Lisbon Portugal ahead Poland ahead here at hamen and it's going to be a goal kick here for the visitors M buka is not taking any of these leaving them all to heras pav kabit who's in the squad for the last two European championships uh former teammate of Josh D who's listed among the Scotland Subs we both at Verona together like now it's s swallow in the second tier in Italy as Poland come forward fire in defeat leowski turns and faces the Scotland goal in a little disguised ball out to this near side cut out by Rolston levandowski was looking for zesi down here dkes goes down up the other end from a long ball it's momy now taking it on driving forward Scott momy steps away from davidovic but he gets a little touch on to it to get it away mlan to the left for Robertson the referee stop play cuz Poland players down I think it's for a head knock but it looked like there was a block on Lyndon dikes just let us see better this head knock comes from D bashes into I think it was davidovic maybe didn't mean it but he does catch him in the head so the referee's right to startop the game I think he's actually given a free kick to to Tom he's got to give the exact same because it's almost like for like it's retaliation I think from Lyon DS because he's not been given the first foul he plays an advantage with m M no support ahead of him so not be careful there that could have been viewed a we bit differently I think it was just about cute enough with it but yeah it's a f missed the European Championship London Dykes was in a moon boot for the period after the injury sustained lesser hamen beside the the big Stadium yeah there was there was an alteration just before that dkes got back to his feet and then shoulder charged into David DOI knows exactly what he's doing there and you got to be so careful nowadays you go around endangering your opponent you're off simple as that how to play for a pull and throw and over on that right hand side level with a penalty spot 32 and 1 half on the clock Under The Lights see at H and the pitch looking great brilliant conditions for the game barely a breath of wind certainly inside this big bowl of a stadium Poland hav it on this near side with KR shifting it back to David doit then into the Midfield it goes nansy is on the turn and just played to zalinski he a fabulous player zinski made his moved intern Al in the summer having spent eight years at Napoli he's part of that celebrated Napoli team that won their first scudetto in such a long time back to the early '90s is Ping come down the right hand side of all slip forward by frankovsky down the right flank three waiting for the cross in the middle battling for it Scott Mckenna over there against the goal scorer simansky and eventually the referee blows and that's a Scotland free kick to the left of their own box Scotland nil Poland one he does really well you can hear the sarcasm in the The Tartan Army that are cheating the fact that the referee's given Scotland a foul because I think that's the the feeling around the place in the last few minutes but good defensive play just getting your body in between you and the the play the ball and the player sorry just alleviates that pressure as well I think Portland have probably grown into it just in the last five or so minutes just taken back a wee bit of territory from Scotland as well they have got a little boost as well by that goal being ruled out too cuz that came culminated and been a good spell for Scotland in the game dkes this time the shoulder charg to the ground the referee give Scotland a free kick does he no has he yes he has difficult to read this referee and he's pulled the yellow card out blast it in the face of David doic Scotland Midway inside polish territory it's a long ball I mean I don't know if there's an awful lot in it he's just trying to stand his ground D does well goes to ground um you know he'd probably have been raging if it was your team and given the other way but it's good for Scotland to get the free kick which again is in a decent enough area we looking for a similar delivery and result from the last one yeah they're having a we go at each other D and David it was K that time David doic has is the player he's been booted but it was K or I think he was booted for descent I think he was booted for protesting cuz he's upset Lyndon dyes w a free kick a similar challenge there as the free kicks taken Robertson lights it in and it comes all the way through the bu who holds on we're in the final 10 of the first half Scotland nil Poland one it certainly has been a good physical battle though you would need to say and and looking at the Scotland players I personally think they look really up for it tonight and there is that you know there's that line with the emotion where you're hoping that it doesn't spill over and that you get it right as we've seen with with dkes a minute or so ago but certainly they're looking to leave everything out in the pitch we just need a goal to get back level ball from levandowski is headed back calmly to Angus gun by Rolston it's picked up by Gilmore sting in that quarter back position there he shifts it to the left for Robertson goes long with the left foot DK will give Chase against davidic with the challenge sure that one's a foul and David sees it behind for the goal kick decent enough movement from Lindon dakes offering up the channel run for Andy Robertson he just kind of floats it in there it's actually good defending putting lyen dikes under a lot of pressure watch's your coffee there Liam it's tea but thanks for your concern okay it is Poland of the ball three goal kick again taken by David doit just shifting it to zinski on this near side forward to urbansky been given away there Momin is now Inside the Box he's in here right hand side mcom across Sav by the foot of the goalkeeper and it pops out in Poland's favor on the right hand side that would have been an absolute gift given away there by Kar and momy charged in the angle was against him in the end he tried to smash it across the the face and it bounced off the foot there of bulka and Away to safety there were two or three Scotland players charging in but it's the keeper who gets the touch and it was a crucial one it's just a pick out for momy it has to be better he has to get it right I think Tony ralson is it's arriving that he could have found but look for me the Press from Scotland has been absolutely spot on and what you can see from Poland is they're trying to be a bit braver and they're still forcing themselves to play out even when it's not on they're taking those extra touches Scotland are getting at them certainly the Midfield supports been Brant in the fact that Tony Ron's a player that I'm identifying inside the box it's there for the cut back it's really good from MC dominate just that final part to the puzzle that's been missing Christy has it on the far side mway inside the Poland half to mlan out to the left hand side for Robertson Robertson finds Momin the left angle of the Box Portugal have gone two up against Croatia as Robertson swings the ball in it's all the way through and it's chested back to the goalkeeper by Nicola and uh it was Cristiano Ronaldo who scored that second Portugal goal so they are well on their way to victory in their Nations League opener against Croatia meantime Scotland behind to Poland he have another concern as we tick towards halftime 38 minutes on the clock John mcin is down yeah there was a challenge just before that last kind of spell of play there where John went into a tackle and won it well but after it he can have stayed in the ground for 20 seconds he doesn't really stay down ases John unless he's feeling something and comfortable ging he's so he's just stayed down now I'm hoping it's nothing bad I think we'll see the challenge here in the replay Lam you can see that after it he just stays down and he's kind of clutching his knee let's hope it's nothing serious Ronaldo I'm already saying you won't have that in front of you is that his 900 goal Liam you've been saying this for weeks and weeks you know what I saw I saw on Instagram he just keep saying it and at some point it will be come you honestly you live on that website I don't I just say come up and some football thing I follow anyway I'm sure he was 899 I may be wrong you can use that in Sunday when you're out in Portugal that'd be a good we intro for you use it for your intro anyway John's up thankfully yeah it looks as though he's going to be okay to come back on M it's D and Ronaldo with the goals for Portugal tonight Scotland r as Steven was saying there on Sunday evening full coverage on Sports sign couple of sport signs for you on Sunday of course we've got the domestic action that continues on Saturday as usual and then on Sunday magazine program in the afternoon and then in the evening it's Portugal against Scotland Poland visits Zagreb to take on Croatia and their second match in this group and the game back on their way it's going to be a couple minutes certainly added on at the end of the first half here it's a long Ball by poing up the halfway Hanley wins the header it's not forward to mctom gets it under control looking for Robertson and support eventually Robertson gets there but momy turns the other way and rolls it back just left of the center circle for McKenna now it's with mlan forward to Christie little touch away from one man can get away from the second but he's fighting for it Ryan chrisy over there wins it back off rovski it's now with mlan Christie has it back level with the p in penalty spot Jinx in the left fires it across cut out by the stretching bedar and it's going to go out for a Scotland throwing a but level with the Polish 6yd line in The Far Side in front of the North St taken by christe to McQueen who crosses in headed away again by Bednar leowski jumps misjudged the bounce the ball and he's landed awkwardly as well the 36y old he thinks he was fouled he's got his arm out stretched at the referee looking for a free kick that isn't coming Christy has it for Scotland attacking the left angle of the box gets the cross in dkes is there to the side there what a chance what a mess for lynon dkes that was the chance to address the balance and after 41 minutes just about it remains Scotland n Poland one you were expecting Lyndon dkes to score there how he hasn't is unbelievable it's an unbelievable chance the delivery again phenomenal to the back post dkes his movement is perfect starts inside peels off at the back back area double movement just looks to get his laces and his knee over the top of the ball he's he's got to get back across's go the goal he's got to go back across the goalie the narrow angle at near post was never the shot to take on that's where the goalie is when the ball came across you're looking and you're going right one each that's a certain goal he's only two yards out and he's managed to put it in his side net the delivery in was browing over the last four or five minutes there been say six deliveries into the box they've all been dealt with but on that occas his movement got him free they come pulling down the right up the other end Robertson with the block and out it goes for a throw down by the corner flag over on the far side Poland attacking all of a sudden the move was that good I'm already in my head thinking this is getting disallowed for the free kick in leowski in the middle of the P because I was it was going to hit the back of the net you don't get bigger chances than that in International Football that has to be a goal now Andy Robertson's gone down with a problem he's managed to get back to his feet maybe just a bit winded there the Captain I mean to be fair there's been a lot of criticism around some of it's been Justified but Steve Clark has had the worst lot possible when it comes to injuries to key players Poland Pride for looking for a second before the break he's unchallenged at the moment down he goes penalty Poland penalty F by Rolston it's a brilliant break forward by the polls down this left hand side zki drove into the penalty area and the undercooked Anthony Rolston was caught there as he tried desperately to win it back no question if it's a foul no question it's a penalty it's a Poland penalty they already lead One n and this could start to unravel pretty quickly here on glasgow's Southside when zisi P picks the ball up he drives it to Scotland defense and again nobody comes to engage him they're almost kind of worried to go out to him because he's traveling at such speed he looks really dangerous he busts into the box Hanley drops off him it's then up to Ron who dangles a leg kicks the back of his heel it's 100 sent a penalty kick and an absolute disaster right before halftime that's terrible timing absolutely terrible timing uh just when you think Scotland are looking to get themselves back level Tony D he's got to get it right and I do feel for him because he's almost just look to take that step but the movement is so quick that it's that he was lightning I thought wasley should have come out inside to engage out robowski is over it he has scored 83 goals for his country arguably the greatest ever in Polish football history it's going to be a right footed penalty levandowski to put Scotland two behind before halftime here he goes right footed penalty against gun he scores the goalkeeper goes the wrong way and Robert levandowski as he did here in 2015 drives a dagger Into The Tartan Army into the bottom left corner low effort gun went the other way and lean dosky scores his 84th International goal three of them have come against Scotland and it's now Scotland n Poland two it's all going horribly wrong here that's a wonderful penalty really well taken from leowski just a run up I always give credit to players that have got the audacity to slow it down work their feet quickly but he just executes it right into the bottom corner Angus gun goes the completely opposite direction and it just shows you how cruel football can be that opportunity off into the pitch for Lyon D he has to score disallowed goal which wasn't a deliberate hand ball incredibly unlucky but then it's a clear penalty kick you can't argue with that and when leowski standing over it you pretty much know it's going to be in the back of the net out with that and the goal that they scored early on in the match from the longrange shot Scotland have been a better team two now down three minutes of stoppage time and it's a long way back for Scotland from here it's looking like one win in 13 with Poland a way to come on Sunday is Port it's MC tomin with the ball over the top of the Poland defense christe chasing after it but it's going to be clear by frankovsky down the line and now it goes for a throw and she's taking quickly by Robertson there are plenty around about there shaking their Headly hands one of them as Robertson crosses deep into into the Poland box that bubbles away to safety on this near side and will be left by zki who won the penalty against rollston up the other end to let it go out for a throw and we are in the first of the three in fact we're just about to go into the second of the 3 minutes that were added on at the end and that lean it's just another goal conceded okay this one's a penalty another possibly avoidable goal and that's now 30 goals conceded in 12 and 1 half games of football yeah it's a poor run it really is it's a poor start one that you don't want on your side but also psychologically it's a massive blow to Scotland to receive it as well because they have put an awful lot into this game Tomos mentioned that Scotland for for us have been the better side they've looked theyve had better chances and Brilliant deliveries into the box the disallowed goal thanes his best chance of the game he's got to score to concede at that point in the game just is a such a killer for momentum when you go in at half timee you sit in that Chang room you look everybody is so deflated the flip side it could have been you could have been one each and you go big difference to one really isn't it you know 2N you're going to do really well to come back from 2N and suddenly they take a drw even that looks massive order now but the the the issue is and it's it's a STK fact and I've spoken about this before and that Lyndon dkes misses a huge chance Scotland are relying on a guy from the English third tier and you've got a guy scoring that penalty who's arguably the most celebrated player in Polish football history he plays for Barcelona up the other end it's uh it's pretty bleak when you put it like that as good a job as dkes has done for Scotland of course that sit there in black and white and that shows you there is a golf can't really you can't afford to have a golf in League a of the Nations league as chrisy picks up plays It Forward cut out by Z over on the far side the ball up the line for Poland it's going to come off mlan but I think the ref spotted a foul on so Scotland are going to get one last opportunity try get the ball into the Polish box here christe was pretending he got a head knock there I'm not so sure he did but anyway the referees bought it and it's a chance for Scotland what 20 seconds left this has got to go into the right in on top of the goalkeeper that left you're looking at the monitor in front of you and it's about 30 seconds behind so the time's gone it's going to have to happen now for Scotland Croatia pulled one back against Portugal and Lisbon just before the break Scotland can be doing with that here and it comes towards the back post for hanl it's headed half away the ref blows for a Poland free kick and that's going to be it for the first half and it's an absolutely dispiriting start to the Nations League campaign here for Scotland and for The Tartan Army not sure who the booze are directed at there I think to be fair Scotland have played pretty well seen them play a lot worse in the last 12 months than they have tonight yet they still find themselves with a mounted to climb at the break here 2-n down and this remember arguably the easiest game of the group and they are in An Almighty hole yet again falling behind in 8 minutes shimansky unchallenged got to between 25 and 30 yards out smashed for goal it was pinpo accuracy as it bounced off the post into the net and Poland had the lead at that point Scotland had been on in the game though they had opportunities Momin had one ruled out for a hand ball in 23 minutes but that moment on 41 when Lynden dkes found himself at the back post goal gaping in front of him he smashed it into the side netting and it wasn't too long after that that Poland were making it 2-0 a clumsy Challenge from Anthony Rolston he barely played before the Euros last season this chances at Celtic have been few and far between and it's been the same story as far as that's concerned this season for him albe it Grant Hanley left An Almighty amount of space for zki to run into he was tripped by Rolston and Robert levandowski strolled up and passed the penalty into the bottom left corner to send the thousands of Poland fans into Delight right at halime Scotland with it all to do already in this campaign it's Scotland nil Poland 2 at the break Scotland in the UFA Nations League live on Sports sound from BBC Radio Scotland there's no substitute you're listening to sports sound live from the National Stadium that first half no shortage at all of major talking points here Tom English I can't quite believe that we are behind in in this game you you just wonder what Steve Clark's thinking right now and I I can believe it Kenny I can believe it we played well have we not play play played well um buildup Play Good intent good shots on target zero um really good chances created one glaring miss one ruthlessness from Poland 100% there you go I can believe it it's a tough school this you know they've Scotland have had uh have had two chances against them both goals and for all the good work that they've had and all the intent and all the you know the runs down the left from Momin from from Robertson and the decent crosses and the dkes Chance zero shots on target yeah listen that you make Fair points I just I mean we should have buried that one at the back post some lynen dkes I feel there's been a lot of good deliveries into the box so let let's start with the goals of Los willly you're assessment of them well I I mean I think I think the goal the first goal was well struck I don't think Ang is gun could be blamed for it I think it was pinpoint it comes off the surface um you know zki zamansky it was that that struck it from outside the box I think the problem we playing with the two center backs is you a center back down you know and I think there was a reluctance in both occasions for either of the two center backs to come out and close down the Midfield player because it's Midfield players that of making the runs and making the strikes and causing the penalties and and they haven't been tracked you know and I think Ron's a little bit unfortunate there he's just got himself the wrong side you know and he's he's he's dangled the leg out there's no doubt that it was a penalty um so defensively I I I think the two Center back situation will be telling Steve clap that maybe that's not his strongest formation and I think when you're playing against two Strikers as well and Midfield players are are making these run forwards it's it's difficult for the two center backs to make their mind up whether they go with the striker or whether they then go and confront Midfield players um so so that's a negative side the positive side is that's all we're asking for from a Scotland team I think you you know in terms of closing the opposition down Poland put under pressure and they constantly give the ball away constantly give the ball away to us the high press is working a treat everybody's doing their job properly uh the opposition are not getting an opportunity to build up but as Tom says it's it's and a played in games like this International level you think you're doing well you think the performance is great and somehow you find yourself behind either one or two goals this occasion two goals behind I think Lyndon D's opportunity at the back post I think he's too intent and and and making it look spectacular cuz you kind of a you know it's not a scissor kick but he goes in with his right foot he's he's up in the air as well and he's trying to ball it into the near post when you know as Tomo says it should be going across the face it should be going uh to towards the far post a little bit unfortunate with MC Tom's goal that that was ched off but it was a right right result if had the number of balls flashed across your face I know Tom say you know about the strikes and goal but we we've looked dangerous when we've went forward we've played some nice attractive football for me if there a played that way at the Euros it would have turned out much better for them with that energy with that intent with that front foot football closing the opposition down wining it winning it early but we do have a problem in scoring goals so we've known that for a long time and this is a problem uh tonight as well and I'm a you kind of you know well I know why I know why we're two n down because they're ruthless when they get the opportunity they take it we don't but at the same time for me it's a good performance it's well structured it's well organized everybody knows what they're doing um you know it's a high tempo but you're two now down at half time so it must be gut wrenching for them you know in the dressing room and for the manager as well and trying to turn this round now is going to be difficult but they've got to come out in the second half and try in some way to keep the the belief H keep the the same shape the same intent the same High Press but then again if you keep doing that then you're leaving it pretty spare at the back and I do still think I say before the game I think it'll be a difficult night for the two center backs because they're losing that third Center back and with the Midfield players The Way Poland are playing running past our Midfield players because they've got responsibility and they've relinquished that responsibility and the central Defenders have got a decision to make and the decision to come out and try to close them down hasn't been good enough yeah I wrote down well will he mention it there again Tom I was asking really who he was looking for before this game he was talking about energy and that was certainly missing for large Parts in Germany I feel the Energy's been very good tonight Andy Robertson looks a real threat down the left hand side hadd actually written down just moments before giving away the penalty I'd written down that what from what we saw from Ralston out in Germany tonight I thought you looked quite confident quite composed you know and it it it wasn't a horrendous challenge it was just it was careless wasn't it and it was really said it was definitely a penalty definitely a penal I thought he was playing well can I agree with you I thought he was I thought he was playing well I thought he was defending well he offered something in in going forward as well and he just got himself in a in a in a very bad position really bad position position made a rash tackle and it happens very quickly doesn't it just like that it happens at this level happens in the blink of an eye he sticks out his leg down goes the pole in goes the goal yeah it's ruthless isn't it h Tomo they have been far better Scotland in the first half it's hard to think any that's been a a failure in there tonight a lot of energy but here we are two goals down and the guys are touched on there they're very ruthless up top the polls aren't they yeah I mean I think there's positives to take from the performance um I think the energy levels yeah you're right about that the Press has looked good I think we've unsettled Poland defensively um I think we have into good areas but as Tom mentioned with his very first sentence zero shots on target um and that is a concern if you look at the dkes chance in isolation he's got to hit the target we're very unlucky I think with the mctom go it's disallowed but the difference is and this is the top level this isn't even the top level Poland but it's a high level of international football and when they've had the two chances the only two chances that have been presented to them they have been taken and taken convincingly I think we can defend both situations better that would be the one downside I think from the game so far but I think when you go into the him and you're two down at half time sometimes you can go in and you say to yourself right we've not been good enough there blah blah blah you start to think negatively right we need to turn this around I don't think Scotland have done an awful lot wrong to be 2-0 down and that's the kind of thing that's going to be grinding away at them but as Tom said it's a hard school and that is international football and Steve Clark spoke about you know it's about learning from mistakes but you know there's another couple of mistakes and we've got well looks like we're going to go off to a PO start in this Nations League uh tournament so moving forward we're only going to be playing against better opposition and it's only going to get even more difficult when we Face Croatia and when we Face Portugal so it's disappointing I'm really disappointed for the players out there because they have given the all to that game but ultimately this is the level we're at and as much as you can see we've enjoyed a lot of possession and looked good at times we're two 0 down yeah the kind of really sobering thing is that Scotland did put a lot of good stuff into the game you know the energy levels were good um there's some decent performances out there they had the line share of possession uh but they're two n to you know what I mean so when you're playing reasonably well and you come in and your two goals behind where do you go from there you I mean it's it's it's Grim they just got to keep going and I don't know if I don't know if he shakes this things shakes things up now is it fact that they're two- n down does he now throw on a couple a gold a Conway or does he stick with what I don't know I don't know where what what he does now le I I don't know what what what's a gamble now well I suppose it depends where players are at physically I don't think you need to panic just now um because ultimately it doesn't change we speak about it all the time 2 nil is a horrible score line even if you're winning 2-0 because the next goal is vitally important so can 100% you would but I mean the reality for Poland is that if they go and concede the next goal they go from being in a really comfortable position um they've probably been in the ropes for a period of time anyway because Scotland then rally they do have an opportunity to then make changes so the message in the dressing room will be clear can you go and get the next goal can you go and get that goal before Poland um maybe create another opportunity but I actually don't think Poland have really created and that's where it's it's so hard and um it isn't national football at the highest level but the reality is it's come from two individual errors it's come from Scotland we have a misplaced pass in the middle of the pitch from Kenny mle looking for Billy Gilmer gets turned over which then leads to the first goal which I think Angus gun's got to do a lot better I've looked at it back again needs to work his feet he needs to get across it's a number of times we spoke of Angus gun similar types of goals now the fear racking up if you're a goalkeeper that's sitting in a second or third spot just now you're possibly looking for Steve Clark and thinking how many lives has this guy got when am I going to get an opportunity to start a new campaign and it looks like he's going to be the number one and then it comes for Tony Ron who would agree I thought he was actually playing well and he was dealing with everything that had been thrown at him defensively it's really unfortunate I looked at it again do you know it's one of those free kicks probably in Scotland or had it been for Scotland it would have gone the other way and it would have deemed as the attacker initiating contact because that's the type of look that Scotland kind of have just now similar to the Armstrong one at the Euros but it is what it is top level football you'll get punished if you don't take your chances at the opposite end Lyon dikes it's a massive chance the goal is absolutely shouting you know the net is desperate for it to be bust he misses it pulling go up the other end they capitalizing a a lapsing concentration for Aon you're thr now down but for me Scotland can still get something out of the game because I've seen enough from them in that first half performance with regards to the Press I think dkes allbe he's missed that chance I thought he's looked sharp I think he's press in terms of he's work great working back the way as well he's linked the game really well I think Scott momy has proven why we see him as a top midfielder in this team because certainly in that final third of the pitch he's looked a real handful a real threat Gilmer looks good in there Kenny mlan probably the one that I'm a bit unsure about just now so do you roll the dice do you take off Kenny McLean possibly put in Ryan goals get a we bit more creativity in the middle of the pitch another Forward Thinking player that can give you that opportunity but we know Steve Clark he doesn't make too to many changes so I reckon we'll probably be looking at the 60 Minute Mark before we see anything really really happening yeah just on a lookout there now Tom I don't see any changes happen we're still waiting for Poland the Scotland players are out will you said you've been in this position before many times you go you feel a bit hard done by how do you take yourself out of this you've still got to have belief and I think they can take a lot of belief out of the first half performance um and you've just got to you know go out and do the same I'm sure that Steve clar sent to them that the performance has been good but the opposition have been ruthless listen the opposition haven't been good it's not a good poish side and you know I I don't understand what they're trying to do with the goalkeeper and the two center backs because I don't think they've ever built anything up from it and they tried at least a dozen times when Scotland know what they're going to try to do and they're up and they're pressed and they're running the ball back early but as far as Scotland's concerned what they've got to do in the second half is have that belief have the same game plan uh and the difference in the second half is if they get the opportunity is to take them you know that we aren't ruthless enough we know that we we don't have enough goal scorers um on in more Squad um and certainly we we're not ruthless in front of goal so if that can improve I think the general performance has been good in the first half I think Steve CL will take a lot out of it and he'll be asking for more of the same in the second well let's hope we can get some goals here at hand in part let's get back to com team lean Kon Steven Thompson Willie Miller and leam McLoud it's the 12th time these two have gone head to-head Poland have won three to Scotland's two the other six drawn Scotland yet to beat Poland competitively and the way it's going tonight they're going to have to wait until Warsaw in November to get another chance to do so they got 45 minutes to try and sort out Poland get the second half underway going left to right in the red and white Scotland in the navy blue with yellow and white flashes no changes for the Scots has been one for Poland but it's Scotland attacking immediately here dkes plays it across and it's going to be knocked away going manage just come on we'll get to that in a moment Gilmore shoots and scored what a start to the second half that is Billy Gilmore rifles the ball home it's gone through the goalkeeper but the referee stands there and waits for confirmation of it Wass the flag up Gilmore smashes it home he's only scored two goals in his career that's the second they've both come in Scotland Scotland one Po in two well I mean you talk about trying to have a positive start to the second half it's unbelievably positive so so good from Scotland reverse pass from Billy Gilmer around the corner from Momin M Lees in dakes it flashes at across it's cleared Johan keeps it alive the an wor dkes is offside here well I thought he looked on but just the official in The Far Side assistant referee just doesn't look convinced um certainly didn't make his way back to the the halfway line the refere any sort urgency he was hanging arounded in the Box wasn't Gilmore wheeled away in celebration the referee wasn't quite so sure though listening to the Dutch video assistant Scotland have already had one goal ruled out after a far check tonight but this one stands I thought he looked on they're right back in it now all of a sudden Billy Gilmore scores in the opening minute of the second half and they have half the deficit well that's the response that's exactly the response you were after just listen to the at Fe in here as well the fans are on side the belief's back again whatever was said in the dressing room at half timee it certainly worked because just the tat a play the build up in the urgency the bod's going forward it was all there from Scotland and the support play from Gilmer to be there right place right time get on Target and you your side back in the game they brought on Sebastian bavitz at halftime he plays for Torino in Italy where CH Adams moved they both moved to the chin Club this summer and he's replaced AR KR who looked like a player who hasn't been played too much this season fact he hasn't been played in the senior Arsenal team yet this season I me a regular last ter so Poland made the change Billy Gilmore his only other senior goal came against France and that friendly and Leo last October that will mean so much to him his first goal senior football in his own country Billy Gore it again works it wide right here's momy stretching his legs he's into the box wasn't a great touch and he wins the corner the the touch kind of let him down there he three waiting in the middle the consolation prize is a Scotland corner and the polls L rattled they don't have what to start to the second half and you know at 2-0 the third goal in the game is always always vital but to get it so early on in this second half and with the crowd now absolutely behind us and Scotland looking confident all of a sudden you're thinking to yourself we can do this Scotland Corner begin to take ins swinger my it's poor though it's swept up high into the air it goes over the reverse side and behind for a goal kick so that just kind of styes things a little bit it's not ideal cuz it does just taks the atmosphere down a little notch or two there again just got a little bit too excited there I think yeah he has I think look the start to the second half also shows me the belief that the players having the themselves tonight up against this polish side that there's a belief that they're getting two no down and they were hard done by which we know they were hard done by but that's the reality when you don't take your chances um but it's been a wonderful start to the half and you just hope that Scotland can keep this up yeah Billy Gilmore would imagine will be a Mainstay of this team for the next decade fabulous player doesn't score often but he's given Scotland half a chance here now all of a sudden but here come the poles down the left hand side zevi driving up to the left angle of the Scotland box rolls it back infield for oransky under pressure from mlan mat dobski low ball across cut out again there by Scotland it was mlan in the road again and Poland up to start over on this right hand side and it's B cave it down this right hand flank and Robertson gets onto his ball down the line and gets it forward to Christie gets it back to Robertson makes a touch and his pass bounces back off well they cave it and out for a throw in on this near side to the home team so 2-1 and Scott reset and try and find an equalizer now cuz they've effectively wiped out that levandowski penalty in The Stoke of halftime here's Grant Hanley picking it up center with his defense there his 54th cap made his debut back in 2011 he had a long period out of the team here is mlan short ball to dkes misunderstanding M Tomy gives it away gives it straight there to beond Tech out on the far Poland pick up running into trouble in the shape of Momin seski roll back into the Poland penalty area there mopping it around the Scotland supporters are getting excited there as they see the Press from their team but Poland have played it out expertly well there you'd have to say Val kavit out to this right hand side of chance for zamansky the first polish goal scorer go out to Val kavit rolls it to the edge of the box for levandowski he's at the edge of the area and he drags the shot with the right foot well wide of the left and post and on almost 51 minutes Scotland 1 Poland two one of the rare occasions that Poland have managed to break the Scottish press Scotland were locked on but they actually popped it and it's one touch pass and it'll get you out of that press they did it really really well broke down the right hand side it comes to leowski he's about 25 24 yards out I don't think the shot was on he a better option out to his left but who are you to tell leowski what he should be doing he takes a shot and just drags it col kick the ball away after the whistle had gone to give Scotland a free kick right of the center circle and the yellow card comes out and it's sevki I think you got the yellow there Willie Miller watching this one and last time we heard from you Willie it was Bo you were quite happy with the performance obviously quite downbeat about Scotland's chances of getting something out of this Nations League opener they're back in this no I don't think I was to be carefully honest what said was that they have to still have that belief I think it was going to be difficult for them but they come out with the belief I think Steve CL obviously has been in the ear at half time and persuading them that the first half performance was good even although there were two goals uh two goals down in that first half but it's a sensational start to the second half it's full of everything that was good in the first half only in this occasion they've managed to get the ball in the back of the net and and it is it's definitely game on 52 minutes played it's Scotland on the ball on the far side Poland had a throw they giv it away tomin trying to get on to it it's polish po gets on to it cross but Christy gets on the scraps and he's M way inside the pole in half but he runs into trouble and poen emerg with the ball with oransky pass forward's going straight to Hanley but he's under serious pressure here and that will be a free kick given against Gran Hanley as he brings Pont crashing to the ground and and he's never been the paciest Hanley when he's got the ball his um probably best interests are to just get rid of but he ran into trouble there and he gives away the free kick yeah it's a foul a clear foul but it's not in too dangerous an area Poland just going back into their own half with the ball anyway Scotland set up so there's nothing to be too worried about Scotland actually coming into this campaign of one of the best records in the Nations league as far as winning percentages are concerned whereas Poland really struggled they've only won four nations League games coming into this one the three editions previous since they forward now down the left roll to levandowski in the box back to oransky colon threatening here well they cave it with a cross into the box is headed out to this near side and it's come off a Polish head I think and out for a BAL kick here to Scotland Scotland one Poland two the game's opened up you know in the first half Poland didn't look that dangerous but as Scotland have now their s back in the game and they're trying to go forward at every opportunity Poland will find we GS and they have got quality players and that's something we're going to have have to be we of in the Midfield here with zilinski he kns it forward to leand doski Pion ahead of him on the left hand side Pont has it he's got couple waiting in the middle here it's roll back to the edge of the box with her bansky's efforts charged down flurry of Polish attacking here Scotland get it away mcken and he's found Robertson brilliantly down the left loads of the pitch in front of him and he is driving forward Robertson three ahead of him rolls it towards mctom he makes a touch left hand side of the Box the momentum's gone from the attack just now but Momin knocks it back to Gilmore and now momy again the Napoli Club mates now of course as rolon picks up and fires it to mlan out wide left for Christie left angle of the Box drops the shoulder onto the right and he uses the outside of the boot for Robertson too much Pace on it and it goes straight through to the goalkeeper bulka who holds on Scotland one Poland two almost in 55 yeah overall it's good build up play from Scotland certainly good numbers in terms of that counter attack using the ball not forcing it just that final bit there Christie it probably shows you the downside to not having an out and out Winger because christe's coming in the pitch he then looks to try and find Robertson who's facing him I think the better option is you get to the B line and you Fizz it across the six where there's a lot of bodies a lot of congestion Poland are defending really deep if anything CU an off a Defender um I just think times we trying to overcook it only Winger you've seen in the Scotland team in in recent years James foris Ryan Fraser you don't really see it too often they compensate with obviously Robertson and hickey when he's available pson maybe as well as the flag was up in Poland down in this near side that's how he gets round it but obviously Ryan Fraser's been out of favor for a while his International days quite possibly gone despite a decent season in Southampton last time around it is something they don't have I know Ben Do's in the squad but maybe not his time quite yet no and that's what I think it's so wasteful when you get into those areas and you've got the likes of mcy certainly arriving from Midfield you've got John mcin arriving you've got the opposite side in terms of Tony Ron supporting the play as well you need an end product and I just think there's more times than not we miss out that opportunity again wanted a free kick he's not getting it levandowski rolls there to jansy out to the left hand side toski up against Rolston he gets the chip ball across the back post gun was a little bit caught No Man's Land There relieved to see Robertson put it behind for a corner behind the yeah I mean as I said the game has opened up and Poland are starting to find spaces and they're looking far more dangerous ironically at 21 now than they did in the first half s's cross caused bit of a heart flutter for Angus gun and indeed for Robertson Poland Corner p zalinski is over it on this near side right footed outswinging Corner as they attack the East End of the stadium to her right and it comes Away by Robertson at the near post poor corner from from zilinski much better than that normally polish number 10 another one who's got really good experience playing at major tournaments Poland have been to four of the last six World Cup finals they've been to each of the last Euros a qualifying machine it's knocked back up the line there valit and then field to Bednar who in the second half is playing as the center point of the back three having been on the right hand side of the first half long ball leowski gives Chase bounces off his heel there and it's still in Polish possession Pont moving it back to zilinski rolls it low along the grass out to this right hand side chance the cross here and it's held on to a gun from Tim frankovsky Ball and gun has it and he bows it short to mcken it's been a good period for Poland though last five minutes maybe more Scotland defense been put under some real pressure he still Trail Scotland 2-1 as that's moved out to Christie on this near sight christe's low ball asking a bit too much of Momin the defender slips bnar he's managed to slip it to banovski on the near side and Poland will be able to M up looks things zelinski's come all the way back into his own box rolls forward to spy now to the left he played it well David DOI has it here now Poland come down the left hand side oh jinking run there by zki he's find leowski the in the Box chance to shoot here oh that's so close wonderful effort from Sebastian jansky who scored a terrific opening goal for Poland tonight in the first half he just bent that one the wrong side of the top left hand corner of the goal frame and it stays Scotland one Poland two what a goal that would have being ad that find the net I mean it looks from where we are as if it's inches inches away was laid off to him by leowski he sets himself takes a touch and on that left foot we saw in the first half how dangerous it can be goes for the top right hand corner and honestly it has to be just inches at best I've just seen a replay of it it is not far at all Scotland pretty close there to going two behind again Poland have stepped it up just these last as I say five maybe even 10 minutes Billy Gilmore's goal in the opening minute of the second half has given Scotland an opportunity to take something from this nation's League AER they've been up against it in the last few minutes Poland have it Midway side they don't have momy fouling oransky and that'll be a free kick to Poland almost at the Midway point of their own half right of Center interesting to see how long Steve Clark waits to make changes lean thought around about the hour Mark is when he'd perhaps look at that maybe that was on the Assumption they were still a couple behind yeah maybe give it another five or so minutes certainly the five substitutes are out there keeping themselves taken over just now and there's probably not an awful lot wrong I think the fact that Poland have are certainly given as good as are getting just now would probably just keep you a little bit in limbo if you're Steve Clark just to see if Scotland can go and sneak an equalizer perhaps and then you can look to freshen things up hope that Poland just lose a little bit of the momentum that they seem to have gathered as well Poland have it with leowski coming forward with Menace 36 years of age now he's going to get back onto the back heel down the left leowski changing PA but running out the pitch he pulled it back Pion knocked it home the ball was over the by line that will be a goal kick to Scotland I meain Scotland one Poland two almost on 61 minutes the polls currently ranked 28th by F down two places after the Euros they were ranked as high as fifth in the world as recently as 2017 not long after Scotland got a couple of two2 draws against them the campaign to reach France 2016 uh side that's been in the top 30 of the FIFA world rankings for a while now and they have it on the left hand side here and an opportunity to cross potentially here for zki rolls it back the way instead moved into the midfield for zilinski zilinski fires it forward to the edge of the Scotland box Rolston with an intervention Handley as well but still they emerge with it Poland looking to capitalize and their superiority right now the chck fall in too high for levandowski bouncing at the edge of the Scotland box Christy can't get on it zilinski has it on the spin roll it low out to this near side for frankovsky back to zilinski to oransi to zilinski Scotland trying to win it back they do through m it was a loose ball from zalinski there and it ends up back at the feet of Angus gun in his 6yd line where he chips it forward with the right foot the header one in the air but illegally sources the referee davidi and that will be uh free kick to Scotland over on the right hand side just alleviate some of the pressure that that defense has been coming under in the last 10 minutes or so it's been Poland's best Bill of the game without a shadow of a doubt a lot more of the ball they're looking a lot more composed and when they get it they're looking more of a threat it's almost likely Scotland go woke them up a we bit the Press from Poland has been good in the sense now that they're going almost six for six Scotland has still with the overload if you include Angus gun in that but I do think Scotland can beat it but been much more effective in using that long ball as we've just seen John MC draws a free kick couple of times in the first half we managed to use it as well up to Lyon dkes or up to John mcin and then you've got numbers underneath the ball support but I just feel Scotland are still trying to take too many passes in the build and putting themselves under just unnecessary pressure because at 2-1 you cannot concede the next goal you know otherwise the momentum is completely gone from the game yeah and uh first five minutes of the second half it looked like they were threatening to incredibly find an equalizer two n down at the break on the bench for Steve clar Shanklin do Baron porus Sutter dop Morgan Conway golden Johnston as far as Outfield players are concerned so we might be seeing a few of those at some point in the near future 63 on the clock Poland leading 2-1 it's with McKenna short ball to the left for Robertson Midway inside is on half up to halfway for Christie trying to hold off Val kavich rolls it back there to Robertson the refs eventually and delightedly giving Christie a free kick on this near side Christy takes it rolls it back with the left to Robertson and out to Christie on this near side side football to Robertson and he finds to that right hand side for Gilmore the Scotland goal scorer in field to M sweeps it into the center circle for mctom Robertson on his bike to his left Momin it's opened up beautifully for Scott mctom he comes forward can resist the shot doesn't catch it as he would have like it's on target it's a daisy cutter right through the mar gold gu holds on and it stays Scotland one Poland two Momin been a lot better at this tonight driving with the ball f as with the Robertson overlap was on to the left but then opened up and he was driving it was goal probably a good 25 yards out he's probably got every right to take it on but far from his cleanest strike and the under pressure from leowski up the other end rolls it back to his goalkeeper gun finds Rolston back to gun and the pressure from Pont he's managed to work it back to Tony Rolston he's waiting way too long he's going to get the whistle to bail him out free kick there two PS swarming around them you do not have that length of time on the ball and it will be a Scotland free kick at the right angle of their own box that's what I'm saying Liam just taking too much time in our own defensive third now and this is where maybe Steve Clark needs to look at it if Lyon dkes if if he's given everything he's got in terms of being that outlet Lauren Shanklin can do the exact same thing he'll drop into pockets of space between the the forwards and the Midfield area for Scotland he'll link the game he'll alleviate pressure you might need to look to just to try and freshen things up because you don't want Scotland just to make an unforced eror just now and then the game's gone it's 2-1 to Poland here it's 2-1 to Portugal against Croatia Dogo Dalo has scored at both ends Croatia scoring just before the break to bring it back to 2-1 Here Comes Scotland with chrisy rolls it to Gilmer at the edge of the Poland box as ball in is easily cleared in the end byav it SC have it back wide in the right walston's ball in it's missed there by kovski will break to christe left hand side of the Poland box little dink balls too high for Lyndon dkes though quality needs to be better than that and it will be zki to take it on the left hand side rolls it out of play and it's come off of Scotland boot last and out for a pull and throw over on that Far Side Christie has found himself in a really good position there three of them round about the six yard line he missed all of them and it stay Scotland one Poland two we do have attacking players on the bench we do have Cas on the bench goal scorers on the bench you know with kind of fast approaching 20 odd minutes left I'd like to see his make a change I know we started to have very well but since then we've not really looked as much of a threat there's a we bit of tempo dropped out the game as well I just feel as all a couple of Subs in the top end of the pitch or into Midfield would give us a we bit of impetus again so Steve Clark John Carver in conversation down there Poland play on down the right Midway inside Scottish territory up by frankovsky gets it back immediately there from brother kavit who's looked pretty good since coming on at the break the big number four a couple of players being summoned by Steve Clark I think shanklin's one of them gold another there might be three players coming on shortly Ben do for yeah it is it is that'll be something to T Army will be pleased about but here come Poland looking to score the third the cross is cut out there would be a corner it was Alki blocked by Rolston and Scotland of a corner you would imagine they'll wait until after this before making the changes but oh positive changes appear to be a foot from Steve Clark let's just make sure we defend this corner properly then there's nothing worse when you look through your bench and you don't get a chance to make the change the are all going back yeah they're all going back into the the the big yawning technical area for drop off the vests and the tracky tops but yeah will be shankland gold and do in comes the Poland Corners ah header which is come bouncing off the head there of Pion went away from goal out to this near side the ref Blows the Whistle and Scotland have a free kick from that corner so we're in the final quarter of this Nations League opener Scotland trailing Poland by two goals to one the changes will be coming shortly and they are positive on St 100% him you know I think Ben do will excite the Scotland fans he'll be absolutely you know buzzing to come on here at hamen and you'd expect him to go and try and show the talents that he's got for gold as well it's a platform for him to show and say look you've not picked me all these years here's what I can do and lawren shank know what can do Lon dakes has tired slightly in this second half John begins ask him to chase a long ball down this left hand side SC look for an equalizer that he shows too much of it though valich he gets it away Scot wi it back quickly here's Robertson on the left hand side pokes it out to the touch line for Gilmore level with 18 yd line back to Robertson controls with the unhold drives forward left football in is cleared wasn't his best he's going to get a throw in on this near side blowing I think he wants the subs to happen now the Swedish referee sure Steve Clark wants it to happen now he's having a he's asking where the subs are he's rolled all the way back into the Scotland half to McKenna it goes back to gun Scotland have just over 20 minutes have to try and Salvage something out of this here's momy collecting on this Deer Side knock back to mlan the three Subs are ready now mlan back into his own half for McKenna and he squares it to Hanley handly out to that right hand side for Rolston then back to Hanley switches the play out to this left hand side for Robertson and INF field to mlan out wide left for momy Robertson on the underlap momy crosses in what the ball the head they back across the face of goal is knocked half clear there by Bednar a wonderful ball in by Scott Momin and Lyon Dykes I think it was at the back post trying to get on the end of it he tried and tried but he couldn't get anything on it really came off his marker back into the Polish six-yard box and I wait to Safety in the end here come the changes shankland will replace dkes yet to score this season lawen Shanklin after the season of his life last time around Ryan gold is coming on and as is Ben do it will be do for mlan and Ryan gold is going to come on as well so a Scotland International debut for 18yearold Ben do who hasn't played since starting for Liverpool in Europe last December against Union sanil and Ryan Christie comes off and Ryan gold of Vancouver White Caps comes on lit up Scottish football 11 years ago he'd been in the squad but it was a decade back and Poland are going to make a at least two changes themselves here looks things levandowski is coming off given what he can do that's a good thing from a Scotland point of view and he is being replaced by Adam bua of melan in Denmark and the other player coming on down there we'll get to that in just a moment Poland as they look to try and take control of this match again and it has been a challenge for Scotland since they got that goal back and off is coming the number 21 zevi and petrovski is going to come on as well so changes all around for both managers and petrovski of salsburg in Austria comes on as a big Defender he replaces pontch so I think you can see there Scotland chasing something out of the game Poland trying to shore things up it's as positive as I could feel just now with the changes that Scotland have made it's exactly the players that we'd want to see coming on to the pitch and dare I say that Poland substitute kind of feels the way it felt against Norway when they took Highland off and thought the game was done um that they take the big hitter off and and look to try and show things up at times it can be the worst possible case that you just try and then set off the game and control it a little bit more um Scotland have thrown three players on now fresh legs good energy all attacking players all with different qualities as well I think to the players that have left the pitch so let's see what they can offer shankling on for Cat Number 15 the other two making their debuts n is coming over here I'm not sure oh it's a ear piece I think yeah well you never know now do you when you see the ref jogging over to this near side previously the the monitor for UEFA games here has been over on the North Stand side and anyway anyway there's obviously some kind of problem with his K he's lost contact with the VAR officials I would say as a good bet looks like they're going to change a battery pack or something let's chat to Willie Miller shall we certainly can always love to go to Willie um how are you reading the the last what have we got 16 and a half minutes of this game oh I think Poland have been much much better in the second half haven't they they they have H adopted that high press and we've struggled to uh you know break through it um but the last 5 10 minutes or so I I think they began to get back into the game um I was worried a little bit you know before that because of the the the quality that Poland have particularly in the wide areas and you know some of the ball that they had running at our Defenders um but I think we've gained control again I think that they've come out in the second half you know really with h that that intent and that belief that they that they needed got themselves back into the game but Poland turned it around you know I thought Poland have been pretty good you know I didn't give them much of a uh a write up in terms of the first half performance but I think they've been much much better in the second uh let's hope that the changes have made just to try to hold on to this uh this lead backfires on them gold with his first touch as a Scotland player with a header to the edge of the Poland box but it's easily mocked up there by Bednar and gold he's 11 Gold in 11 assists this season in the MLS play a calendar year campaign Ben do on loan at middlesbor now yet to make his debut for the championship Club on loan from Liverpool and there's his Liverpool teammate Robertson CED to the Midfield Gilmore back out to Robertson on the near side here's gold mean plenty in The Tartan Army been desperate for him to get a call up in recent times here Robertson infield to Gilmore first time ball for call this cut out there by zamansky po have it back in the Midfield here Scotland ransack it on Gilmore has it now it's momy do to the right that's where it goes Ben do at the right angle of the Box level with a penalty spot little ball to Rolston fires it back and MC he scores Scotland back from the dead here and now he has got his 10th International goal Scotland have come from two goals down Ben do immediately involved Rolston pulls it back and Scott momy sa the ball home into the bottom left corner now it started officially this campaign Scotland 2 Poland two and we're back to where we started ah this is one of these games I'm looking at it I almost feel negative before I can even think positively I thought rouson was offside but Poland are so so deep they're inside their own six-yard defending it's brilliant support play superb from Scotland Scott momy right area slots at home Scotland are back in the game he does that so well Scott mctom arriving into the box his timing's impeccable it really is Ben do doing really well but you got to give Anthony rson an awful lot of credit for the overlapping run and picked out by do the cut backs in perfect and Brilliant for momy almost felt for a second I wanted to criticize the Ronny rouson because I'm looking at do and I'm thinking just leave him on his own just leave him in a one V one but the Run was brilliant the timing was perfect bril go brilliant team goal don't involved immediately Scott momy trying to whip up the Scotland fans with his arms outstretched they are waving them around frantically looking for more support two a piece at hamen it's quite incredible is this the fire being lit amongst this squad again it's been dowed for 12 months as M fires it high out to this near side he can't find gold though and out for a throw in and now they've taken off levandowski and Pon up front they were trying to see it out that lasted about 2 minutes which that that is where you're at in the game though when you look to try and be too tactical and you overthink it and Poland as we spoke about 2-0 is a good comfortable score line if you can go and get the third goal and you can kill the game they didn't manage to do that Scotland were always going to Rally we spoke about the players on the bench that could offer you something in the second half Steve Clark certainly looked at him and it's wor for Scotland yeah it's paid immediate dividends and now Scotland are looking at the closing walk now just over 12 minutes of the 90 and potentially going on to win this game Robertson with a header and it's going to be a hand ball there against frankovsky on this near side Scotland free kick level with the edge of the center circle in their own half on this main stand southst left side for the home team go back McKenna finds Hanley and he goes back to gun it's a home game up against potentially the weaker of the other three in this section with Portugal and Croatia to come do you stick or twist do you keep the pedal down do you go for the victory at this point you would have to say they do here is mcin lovely little turn by John mcin it's trademark stuff and he's found momy who is driving forward up to the edge of the area again momy just got away from him breaks Do's way though and then he gets caught in two mines in he's got to lead in he had three looks at it and didn't do it Scotland play on it's swept out to this left hand side for Ryan gold rolls it back to Robertson takes a swing at it comes off the defender up into the air and the goalkeeper holds on Scotland at two down Ben do was one of them I'm not sure who it is he's collided into over there I think it is Liam Tony Ron former Celtic teammates those two and they're both poxed over there that was a brilliant run by momy but for some reason he just didn't make decision he got to release it 100% I mean look if it comes off and he he drops the shoulder and he manages to get Beyond get his shot off it's a completely different story but do he's done really well he's held his line he's kept himself on side he's held his width the passes there to be made um it's a pure decision from Scott Momin I think they're both just winded they absolutely smashed into each other round about kind of chest height both of them are kind of round about the hit more and chest of um do let's hope they're okay the referees having to get more work done to his kit and Willie Miller well what a final 10 minutes we could have here now yeah set up for it isn't it you know the changes that Poland made were negative changes changes Scotland made were very very positive and you know you rate the benefit from from these changes and I think you know Steve Clark could be more than delighted I think with the whole performance of performance throughout of this game I think it's been uh pretty high level obviously disappointed at halftime with a two goal deficit but being able to turn it around showing the character that this team has the energy that they have yeah they've been out it a little bit in the second half but they've came roaring through with a lot of belief a lot of skill a lot of ability good football as well and a couple of very good goals too so you know everything's looking good 10 minutes to go it's there for the winning vok is back on it looks like Ron's okay as well Poland are going to make another couple of changes here here and they're going to bring on ycob M of Brighton former teammate former teammate now Billy Gilmore and Atlanta United's baros s will be coming on as well Do's okay looks a little bit Dazed and Confused looks like he's going to be all right selinski is coming off L Morgan coming on here as well for Scotland another change up top yeah they're going to be making that momentarily and have made the two changes there in fact there you go L Morgan on for Gilmore and the other player to come off for the polls was their first goal scorer of the night Sebastian shimansky of fenerbache will come on Gilmore comes off for notched tonight yeah mcom will just go back into the two setting midfielders again gold in the hole do to the right and leis Morgan on the left we've got real Pace in the wide areas let's see them get the ball now hands to the pump now for the final eight of the N there will be substantial stoppage time I would have thought as well even the referee will have added to that because of his varit remains 2-1 Portugal in the delu in Lisbon Doo and Ronaldo them two up Doo scored an OG just before the break Portugal two Croatia won in the other game in League a group one Scotland two pole and two here 22 and 2-0 down of course the last two competitive meetings between these two saw the four goals shared here and in Warsaw Kenna heads back to gun just wonder how Poland deal with the closing stages of this game now all their Superstars that they've got left have come off Pont levandowski zelinski he's rolled back to McKenna who finds Hanley side football out to Rolston on the far side now infield to momy to doe lovely touch with Tom he's onto it and he's clean right out there there'll be a yellow card coming as well don't think Le he just come on can of have any complaints about that MC com was Galloping forward as he loves to do lovely little touch by Ben dop to lay it off back to him the difference between McMan in this match and the Euros is stuck he has been back to his best in terms of Running With The Ball he's a driving force his energy really really impressive he's joined the Tartan invasion of Italy as well hasn't he he and Gilmer off to Napoli fans of that club will be interesting what they're watching tonight here is L Morgan a poor ball down the left oh he's bent out over the line that will be a throw into the polls down here it's the Poland fans off to our left with their hands in the air look supported their team this evening even though they were two n up and they've been pegged back there will be a throw in frankovsky is going to take on the near side Bing it forward it's going to be collected there by P kovski but I think he's given Scotland the throw in the end on this near side it was played out onto the line Robertson bows it forward to shankland little ball onto the chest of gold who fires it back with the left foot to the right of the center circle for roll brilliant Ball by Rolston the noted header back by Morgan finds Robertson first time ball up to the 18 yd line for Shanklin headed halfway Le gets it into the Midfield sliding into try when it backs Morgan now it's momy his b forward cut out Scotland come again Ron they feel they've got the foot in the throat here but the referee's blown his whistle for offside flags up northst side in the final 5 minutes of the 90 Scotland 2 Poland 2 here on sport sound on BBC Radio Scotland can only assume that the referee's not managed to sort out his earpiece Liam because the assistant referee in The Far Side was standing for about 15 seconds his flag up I didn't see an offside to be honest but it was the diagonal that came through R Lou Morgan um was offside initially but listen I think Poland are there for the taking just now because a couple of just lapses in concentration Ball's going out the pitch as you Alam they've lost the key players they don't have the big hitters um I could be wrong but I think the Scotland can just start to string the passes together again keep the bite that they had just before we get equalizer the tenacity by Ryan gold eventually Poland emerg with it despite his best intentions chasing down on his own there Poland have it wide on the left hand side now and uh Scotland desperately trying to win the ball back Poland though looking a very least lead here with a draw theyve given it away and it's now with Ben do driving down the right hand side going to try and get himself in behind the defender It's a Wonderful run from do this is exactly what this national team needs his Pace in the wide area as he's sh across he run into the cuac and Poland pick it back up and it's dink away there by yansy he' done the hard but he W on one with the field back took him on he was past him just play it in with your right foot he goes for the chop back on his left really encouraging though I mean unless you saw some of his appearances for Liverpool you're probably looking at Clips you've seen online of Ben do but the Scotland fans getting a a proper look at him here tonight and that was really encouraging But Here Come Poland down the left hand side cross comes into the box it's evaded everyone and Robertson decides to put it behind for the corner he wasn't really sure where tennis laav frankovsky was and it's going to be a Poland corner here with the final 3 and a half of the 90 there could well still be another 10 minutes of this game still to play Yeah there could be that's a tired decision there from Andy Robertson just a lack of awareness what's going on behind him just to can see the corner at this stage of the game is poor because it's probably one of Poland's best chances going and grabbing a winner themselves you get GRE at this point don't you because I don't think there's one Scotland fan in this Stadium would have said no to a draw at halftime I know it yeah you do you get greedy you think Poland are there for the take and try and win the game but the ref's having to come over here again he's just going to say to the managers that he can't have contact with v are they happy to continue sort of thing he just spoke to Andy Robertson and the captain of Poland to say the same thing well he's not used to far this referee Glenn nberg as I said Sweden sned far continue to snub far and ref still down there he's talking to Steve Clark he was talking to Mr probers as well so it could be that there's no bar for the closing stages of the match said the looks that way he was going trying gesticulate that he couldn't hear anything yeah to be fair Steve Clark kind of looked at him as if they say right oh that was what used to happen so yeah he will be fine yeah well he he'll be disappointed it was working in the first half ruled out mctom in his goal he has got Ki back on the ref as he makes his way into the box and after all that pulling up a corner on this near side it's going to be taken the right fot by modar then it comes and the header was well wide in the end up and wasn't the worst delivery in the world and it was yeah kovsky who attacked it was off his head behind for the goal kick it's 22 88 on the clock block at hamen one last push yeah like I said I think there'll be five or six minutes added on at the end on top of this maybe even more we'll wait and see would agree Shanklin trying to hold off his man and he heads it to Gold who heads it out to do on the right hand side Do's a flying machine he's onto it there level with the penalty spot stins back and passes it back to Rolston infield to mctom momy with the pass in fi gets it back the edge of the box and he tries to find the bottom left and it goes wide and gets Applause from his manager and indeed from the Scotland supporters That Remains Two a piece though he at hamen it's a team effort from Scott mcclom I would say that but the buildup play again from Scotland really good intricate passing good decision making in The Far Side from Ben do as well because as much as his asset his pacing getting out people I think he recognized it was a tight are and he had better options around him but Scotland super aggressive good numbers inside the box as well in and around you can see we're chasing this winner certainly Scotland and the the players in the pitch don't want to accept a point yeah fortune favors the brave 90th minute 22 in Glasgow Scotland have with McKenna wins it back well finds gold back into his own half for Rolston and then momy tomin eases it up to Robertson on this near sight see the legs of the defender he's going to get back on to it here from Morgan early ball in by Robertson is cleared on the 6yd line here by Bednar now it's Morgan out to Robertson level with the Ed the D of the Poland box to the underlapping Morgan who wins the corner Scotland corner and we've just got into the first off eight minutes of stoppage time I like that from leis Morgan at this stage of the game when you get Beyond Force toland to defend whatever that looks like and he goes for the early delivery good slip pass from Andy Robertson good support play for Morgan himself you draw the corner just constantly asked questions of Poland and Scotland summon up the spirit of Oso Scotland Corner inswinger coming up from this left hand side and someone in need
