witnesses describ as a flurry of gunfire we'll have a live report on that plus flipflop Fallout KLA Harris is defending her changing positions on a couple of issues in her first interview since becoming the Democratic nominee or American president I think the the the most important and most significant aspect of my policy perspective and decisions is my values have not changed well we didn't see that answer coming uh Republican National Committee co-chair Laura Trump's going to respond to that coming up in about 20 minutes and we told you about the reported Venezuelan gang takeover at a Colorado apartment complex now a councilwoman is speaking out Gang has taken over several complexes they go in they beat up the staff they hold guns to their heads we need our state and federal Partners to step in at this point but the Colorado governor is dis missing concerns as Her Imagination Fox and Friends starts right now okay all right there was last night we saw it on CNN beginning with vice president Harris in her first official interview as the Democratic Presidential nominee you know what she did last night she promised a new way forward one of my highest priorities is to do what we can to support and strength in the middle class um when I look at the aspirations the goals the Ambitions of the American people I think that um people are ready for a new way forward day one it's going to be about one implementing my plan for what I call an opportunity economy I've already laid out a number of um proposals in that regard okay but haris struggled to lay out her day one agenda having difficulty explaining her flip flopping on policies like EV mandates fracking and the Border I think the the the most important and most significant aspect of my policy perspective and decisions is my values have not changed you mentioned the green New Deal I have always believed and I have worked on it that the climate crisis is real that value has not changed my value around what we need to do to secure our border that value has not changed good grief meanwhile Harris running made Tim Walls addressing his claim that he carried a weapon in war after never actually being in comment said we were talking about in this case this was after school shooting the ideas of carrying these weapons of war and uh my wife the English to my grammar is not always correct but again if it's not this it's an attack on my children for showing love for me or it's an attack on my dog uh I'm not going to do that and the one thing I'll never do is I'll never demean another member's service in any anyway I never have uh and I never will meanwhile as kamla Harris faces criticism for having waltz by her side Politico is reporting quote a senior campaign official also made the important stipulation that obviously she will do solo interviews too so in the future good question right I mean there was a lot there but there was also a lot not there um to Dana's point I mean I think she asked the the first initial question uh but it was the followup a lot of times starting with what are you going to do on day one right and I'm sorry what she proposed was a lot of word salad but it's also day one these were legislative things that you need to get go through Congress you would think her after her being president of the Senate she would know that is not something that you accomplish on day one if you got a pass legislation maybe securing the Border you can do that there's executive action that you can do that take some regulation you can do that through executive action but you cannot do that walls I was looking for the moment to say you know what to the men and women that I let down in my unit um because I thought I could best serve them uh in the house I apologize that I hurt you I never wanted you guys to feel like I abandoned you and it's clear that I've hurt some that would have been perfectly fine I don't think he would have lost any votes at a as a result of that and people like hearing sometimes from politicians I'm sorry I made a mistake he didn't do that last night no no I think you're right I think it would have given him a little more respect for having owned up to that um as clearly the people that served with him were very offended by the remarks he made meanwhile Dana Bash asked Kamala why she if she's president why didn't she act on this plan to fix the economy why why is she going to wait until she's president to do it listen I wonder what you say to voters who do want to go back when it comes to the economy specifically because their groceries were less expensive housing was more affordable When Donald Trump was President well let's start with the fact that when Joe Biden and I came in office during the height of a pandemic we saw over 10 million jobs were lost uh people by I mean literally we were all tracking the numbers hundreds of people a day were dying because of covid um the economy had crashed in large part all of that because of mismanagement by Donald Trump of that crisis prices in particular for groceries are still too high the American people know it I know it which is why my agenda includes what we need to do to bring down the price of groceries for example dealing with an issue like price gouging you have been vice president for 3 and a half years the steps that you're talking about now why haven't you done them already well first of all we had to recover as an economy and we have done that I'm very proud of the work that we have done that has brought inflation down to less than 3% okay uh wasn't ready for that listen they were very rehearsed they knew exactly how to answer they knew that they would danab bash would ask about flip-flopping they knew that they would ask about the gun business and all that other stuff so they had answers uh but they didn't always square with reality for instance when you look at and we've got a graphic we've got it over on the big wall right now when you when with killing us right now is inflation it's the cost of everything is 20% higher than it was uh at the conclusion of the uh Trump Administration when they took office in January of 21 it was at 4 uh 1.4% then as you can see in the June of 22 it was uh north of 9% why was it that high because of course supply chain and all that other stuff uh but also because the the economy was flooded with trillions of dollars of government s stimulus and that is why everything went up because there was so much money available who who actually broke the tie in the Senate with the American Rescue act it was con Harris she is responsible ultimately for all a lot of that money going in then she also broke the tie in the Senate with the fiscal year 2022 and 2023 Biden budgets which also spent a lot of money we did not have and that has brought us to to the place no doubt about it you what's interesting about the speech rather the interview that they did yesterday it was you thought it was short it was only 27 minutes it was in that coffee shop in uh in Savannah Georgia and what's interesting for my money last night she didn't have any of those word salads like you know the passage of time and stuff like that she did Zig she did zigzag at at different times but I think when you go into something like that your mandate is don't make any news talk but don't make any news uh Donald Trump put out in that regard she succeeded in in some ways I mean she didn't she didn't have a huge terrible GFF and for the people who are commandeering this campaign this AI fake campaign of Camala Harris where you just install somebody um that's success for them even though there's no answers for how she's actually going to change the econ that was the question the question was the followup the can line that she has is I know prices have gone you know it and I know it but then when the question is what have you guys done to fix it she goes well we're already putting this stuff in place and then the question then becomes to the American people do you want to double down and and the campaign okay Joe Joe Biden had that empathy problem he never acknowledged it so clearly they wanted to change with KLA Harris to make sure you acknowledge that the people are going through some okay I I get the change on that but they have have yet to be able to describe how they're going to make life better do you want to double uh down on the policy but she's in a difficult position because she's still the vice president of the United States does she want to bash her boss while while while she has to go to that weekly meeting if they still have it to uh to discuss it or does she want to uh continue to agree with the course that they have made well and you look at that graphic of the flipflops she you know she never directly addressed them as flipflop she said I still have the same values you know I had a certain position uh and we're going to talk about fracking in in just a moment but um my point about she knew exactly what she wanted to do think about the timing this uh interview 27 minute interview dropped on a Thursday night before a Friday a holiday Friday yeah yesterday was one of the biggest travel days of the year how many people are actually watching if she really blew it that would be terrible if she said something crazy and it's like okay we're in a hole now uh but she didn't because they were very risk of and to my point about how she didn't say anything crazy or make any big headlines Donald Trump put out on Truth social boring which is exactly what the Harris campaign would hope for I think you're right well we're going to get um some reaction to this very um well we hope significant interview since it's the first ever interview from somebody running for president we're going to be speaking to JD Vance a little later um in the show at 800 a.m. um you talked about inflation Steve um and you talked about printing and spending money that was a component the other component that drove inflation was the energy policy the war on American Energy and Cala and Kamala and Joe Biden were definitely responsible for that Kamala had said I'm against fracking um I'm and now she's for it so watch this no and I made that clear on the debate stage in 2020 that I would not ban fracking as vice president I did not ban fracking as president I will not ban fracking I made very clear where I stand we are in 2024 and I've not changed that position nor will I going forward I kept my word and I will keep my word my values have not changed I believe it is very important that we take seriously what we must do to guard against what is a clear crisis in terms of the climate and to do that we can do what we have accomplished thus far the inflation reduction act what we have done to invest by my calculation over 10 probably a trillion dollars over the next 10 years investing in a clean energy economy what we've already done creating over 300,000 new clean energy jobs that tells me from my experience as Vice President we can do it without Banning fracking question then becomes were you just backing Joe Biden's position because he was the commanderin-chief and when you become this is why the follow-ups are are important when now that you're in the driver's seat now do we go back to the past 20 19 position of KLA Harris was this just a he's the boss he sets the policy agenda and I'm supposed to back him but we don't know that right here by the way here is her um talking about this in 2019 so watch this then we'll come back and talk about it will you commit to implementing a federal ban on fracking your first day in office adding the United States the list of countries who have banned this devastating practice there's no question I'm in favor of banning fracking that to your point Lawrence that's her in 2019 saying I I am my values I am personally against fracking then in 2020 she was asked about fracking which I guess Joe Biden did not have quite that position so she supported his position but she's not saying what her position is or why she changed that position is it that she saw oh I don't you know I feel bad for all the workers who are going to lose jobs she says also CH mind on CL she says I have not changed I have not changed my position she has the same value and and if that is the case then we have no no reason to disbelieve that the 2019 position has changed well think about it Joe Biden uh is from Pennsylvania and that's why he was not when he was running in 2020 then when she joined the ticket then suddenly that far-left policy of I'm going to you know we're going to just stop fracking that went out the window now she is what what we saw last night is she is racing to the middle yeah she she need and she needs to win Pennsylvania and Pennsylvania uh fracking is very important she's going to Pennsylvania by the way with Joe Biden um coming up soon so there there she's she's really doubling down on Pennsylvania I just want to make this point because you said total minutes of this interview 27 27 minutes but those are 27 pre-recorded minutes that they wanted to show you um what if if this if CNN was on us if Dana Bash was on us she would release the entire interview so we could see everything we I think it's really important to note the American people only saw what CNN and the Harris um and and kamla Harris wanted them to see I I think that is the entirety of the interview from what I have read U it it will be interesting to see how they how they do address it but to my point about how she is now racing to the middle uh she's abandoned that we're not going to do fracking any more business uh be because you have to be in the middle to win to get the independence to win the other thing is she was fishing around for Republican votes because at one point uh Dana Bash asked about would you put a republican in your cabinet and she said absolutely she said yes she would which goes back to the days when uh Barack Obama had normana in his uh cabinet and also George W bush did uh Donald Trump and Barack Obama actually Obama did Joe Biden didn't right so uh a republican in her cabinet if she wins and uh she hasn't changed her values she's not a flip-flopper she the problem that they're running into is after they pushed all of the other people Obama and Company out of the race back in 2020 to coales behind Joe Biden uh they needed a progressive to be side ins side with Joe Biden and AOC and Bernie Sanders uh thought that KLA Harris was one of the most Progressive people it was either her or Elizabeth Warr Warren and now she has the opposite problem now the country is in the middle and they want someone that's more moderate but that's not KLA Harris so we'll see this Evolution how it plays out KLA Harris 2.0 exactly on to the former president now he could address those fracking remarks during a rally in Pennsylvania later today after slamming Harris interview last night while campaigning in Michigan and Wisconsin well Doug lasater is up early on this Friday from Washington hey Douglas good morning uh while until yesterday kamla Harris was clearly reluctant to engage with reporters the Trump campaign if anything has been having more interactions and during a rally yesterday in Wisconsin former president Trump criticized Harris for doing a taped interview with CNN and not a live one it was a taped we're doing it live why are we doing it live and she's doing it taped but but that's right he's real but she was sitting behind that desk this massive desk and she didn't look like a leader to me I'll be honest I don't see her negotiating with President she of China I don't see her with Kim Jong-un like we did with Kim Jong-un so we're going to have to see what happens and while Trump does lead on issues like the economy and immigration his campaign is clearly concerned about Outreach to women and we saw him yesterday during this town hall event in Wisconsin un Vail a new policy on fertility treatments going Beyond just expressing his support for IVF the Trump Administration your government will pay for or your insurance company will be mandated to pay for all costs associated with IVF treatment fertilization for women I've been in favor of IVF right from the beginning now we mentioned that Trump was in Michigan and Wisconsin yesterday today he heads to Pennsylvania where he's very likely to bring up Harris's response to that question about her support for fracking obviously a huge issue in the Keystone States back to you guys it is it's all about Pennsylvania thank you sir thank you D interesting he said you know what if Kam kamla Harris goes into a meeting with G you know she gonna have Tim Waltz with her um I hope not Tim Waltz is being investigated by Congress for hearings for his ties to Chinese companies um there's one we in our packet today um we have Tim Waltz longtime supporter of a medical research institute in the state that has a long track record of collaborating with a Chinese mil with the Chinese military company and Industry so this guy has strange ties I would not want him in a meeting um with with G so that's a concern I just think the the overall point point from the former president about strength that interview did not Inspire strength um at best she looks like an unbaked candidate that hasn't flushed through all her policy positions doesn't know why she evolved on it I mean there's there's simple answers that you can give the American people hey I've been vice president for three and a half years I was a little radical before I thought things but you know what I want to pass bills I I've learned how to govern give us something but to pretend like oh my policy positions haven't changed after being so radical right I just don't think it's going to cut it well ultimately what she was trying to do I think if I had to guess was she's trying to show that while I was vice president the loyal vice president to Joe Biden there's no daylight between us you know what he said he was the boss and we were on the same page but she did say she's ready to change the page to turn the page regarding Joe Biden uh uh you know uh the path forward and also uh Donald Trump so she she tried to do a lot in what I would regard as as innocuous Almost Boring kind of zigzag way as she possibly could yeah well we'll see how the American people take that interview if anybody's watching it's a holiday it's a great Point um well Fox News Alert we have next for you a Dallas police officer is dead and two others are hurt after they were shot while responding to an incident overnight this is just terrible out of oakcliff Texas Chanley painter has a story yeah that's right so this morning Dallas Police confirming three officers shot in the line of duty around 10 p.m. last night they officers responding to an officer in distress call near oakcliff Community Center found a Dallas police officer shot in a marked patrol car the arriving officers then exchanged gunfire with an armed suspect at the scene where two more officers were shot as of right now one is in stable condition one in critical condition and one officer is dead after the shootout the suspect fled the scene leading officers on a high-speed chase the pursuit ended in Lewisville according to police when the suspect exited his vehicle he had a long gun officers then fired at him killing him our department is hurting we have officers who are injured who are in the hospital and we lost one of our own the two wounded police officers with reportedly life-threatening injuries were taken to several hospitals while the officer who passed away was taken to methodus hospital where this video shows dozens of officers including the honor guard lining the hospital entrance saluting p paying respects to the Fallen officer and what appears to be family members escorted into the building squad cars also lined the blocks leading to the hospital with their emergency lights flashing in that press briefing a couple hours ago the department spokesperson asked the public guys for prayers as this investigation is ongoing back to you that's just terrible praying for thanks for that family you know um when when I saw the news happened I got a lot of friends that are Dallas cop and one of my very close friends um um is in the graveyard shift and I pinged them I was like oh my God could it be you and I just wonder how these fam members feel every single time these moments happen um one officer died uh is dead right now the suspect is dead so we're going to be following this story to figure out exactly what happened right there we also have some cops that are still in critical condition at the hospital so praying for those cops as well it's yes absolutely praying for them now KLA Harris is telling America weeks ago that Biden was fit to run for president and apparently she's still standing by it do you have any regrets about what you told the American people no not at all not at all he has the for a month vice president Harris finally sat down for a first interview 27 minutes long and says America is ready for a new way forward I am so proud to be running with Tim Walls for president of the United States and to bring America what I believe the American people deserve which is a new way forward and turn the page on the last decade of what I believe has been um contrary to where the spirit of our country really lies but the last decade of course the last three and a half years has been part of your Administration I'm talking about an era that started about a decade ago that's kind of a funny moment well let's bring in Republican National Committee co-chair and Trump campaign surrogate Laura Trump good morning to you Laura good morning okay uh Danny bash asked a lot of the questions we we've been talking about for the last week uh what's your headline from last night's show I I mean honestly Steve it feels like KLA Harris is running for junior class president versus president of the United States you got no specifics whatsoever and there was not a moment that I watched that interview and I as an American citizen felt confident that this is a person who understand the job of President of the United States has a true plan of action to do anything for America could negotiate with the world leaders on behalf of me as a citizen and this country and I think it's kind of what we've come to expect from K Harris look she had to have her emotional support animal of Tim wal with her for this interview and she had such an opportunity the first question Dana Bash asked her was what would you do day one and she had an opportunity to really go in depth on policy say here here's how I will be as president she said essentially I want to help the middle class no specifics no real way that she would achieve that I'll tell you what day one she did as vice president alongside Joe Biden they shut down the Keystone Excel pipeline that of course took away our energy Independence weekend our standing on the world stage drove up gas prices drove up inflation and hurt who the middle and the working classes in this country a lot of platitudes a lot of word salads and then if you wanted to real example as to how phony KLA Harris really is I actually think it's the moment where she told the story about Joe Biden calling her you know it was a Sunday I was cooking bacon and oh a phone rank put together well yeah as though Ed McMan had just surprised her by showing up with a giant check if anyone believes she did not know that there was an orchestrated plan underway to get Joe Biden out of office and plug her in as their candidate I've got a bridge and a couple of gold watches to sell you Steve in Time Square I saw those yesterday uh Laura here's one other uh sound bite where you know we've all seen Joe Biden's decline over the last year or so uh but she has been steadfast before he dropped out she said no he's completely with it watch this after the debate you insisted that President Biden is extraordinarily strong given where we are now do you have any regrets about what you told the American people no not at all not at all and I have spent hours upon hours with him be it in the Oval Office or The Situation Room he has the intelligence the commitment and the Judgment um and disposition that I think the American people rightly deserve in their president well you know what Laura he Joe Biden was in bad shape the New York Times to their credit yesterday ran an item that said essentially you know we heard that uh the top uh the top advisers for Biden went and talked to um uh the Senators and at the at the Senate meeting apparently uh Senator Jack Reed said if Joe Biden wanted to stay in the office he should submit to an examination by two independent neurologists who are willing to report their findings at a live news conference and apparently uh the extraordinary thing about that was everybody around said Joe's got to go but Joe Biden's advice ERS never told Joe Biden the Senate wanted him to go it wasn't until Chuck Schumer showed up at the beach house on the weekend where he goes what do you mean they didn't tell you everybody wants you to go so he was in bad shape that's my point well he's in bad shape right now Steve he's on the beach he's been on vacation for two weeks who is running the country and what you heard there from KLA Harris I think is very important no she has no regrets America about lying to you of the United States he is not up to the job of president that is very scary we tried to call this out during the election in 2020 and warn people this was problematic for this country here we are right now with an inept president who doesn't seem to be on the job whatsoever and you want us to give KLA Harris who lied about it and continues to lie about it an opportunity I don't think so the American people deserve better they deserve someone who day one can do the job who has done the job and that's president Donald J Trump speaking of President Trump yesterday uh he he made a statement that nobody saw this coming he said if he wins he would make IVF free didn't say how it work or who would pay for it where'd that come from well I'm sure Donald Trump unlike KLA Harris will actually articulate the ways in which he will go about doing such a thing here's what the Democrats are running on Steve they're running on emotion Vibes and abortion you saw the the mobile abortion van that they had at the DNC you could get a taco an abortion right outside really nice wow what a what a great thing for America that is what they're running on and they continue to lie about Donald Trump in a stance on abortion and IVF Donald Trump has said multiple times I will not sign a federal abortion ban they continue to lie about that they continue to lie as did Tim walz in his speech at the DNC about Donald Trump's uh stance on IVF Donald Trump wants more babies in America not fewer he is very Pro the miracle that IVF has has given to so many f Ames across this country and he wanted to make his stance on that explicitly clear and that's why he talked about it okay he did indeed I'm sure we'll hear more details as
