MBB: Kentucky Basketball Presents - Becoming Kentucky's Team

[Music] for me I think this week and especially day one of just hearing the stories of these families and what they've gone through with the flood uh in Eastern Kentucky was really important for me just to know what it means to represent and we Kentucky across your jersey need you go finish this come [Music] I think it's really important that we got out and uh built relationships with all the people of Kentucky and Eastern Kentucky and I think it's going to carry a long way into the season just wanted to show our appreciation for you guys and um you know it's really special for us to be able to come out here um and serve you guys and be able to help you put up some walls in in your new home and so we wanted to give you um a flag that we all signed um we just wanted to to present this to you guys as a as a gift and um show our thanks so thank you so much this has been an awesome day I like I was telling him it's I am highly highly impressed with what going on here today you guys have came in here and made a world of difference I was not expecting to get this done these guys should be really proud of themselves they have worked hard you know to help us and to help this gentleman right here which is this his home and we thank you all from the bottom of our hearts we appreciate that's all fine and good but of the whole crew who was wield in the best Hammer oh that be [Laughter] me so I think it was really you know really great for the team because uh theme of the weekend for us um was not thinking about ourselves and putting other people before ourselves so you know it's a skill to to not think about about yourself and it is really hard for us to uh to do in in today's world but um I think it's really uh important for us to be able to take time and intentionally um try and do that which will will will help us grow as people and and help us you know succeed on on the basketball court as well the second day we went and uh helped build a porch um it was me Brandon and Travis um you know it was super important for us just to see the hard work that um these people of Kentucky put in to to each other honestly uh it was really you know a really unique experience to grow with um you know other teammates being able to you know see them working hard just as they would for basketball but you know in a in a day-to-day thing trying to to rip up some floorboards or things like that so uh it's really cool to kind of see in a in a different um in a different environment uh people you know continue to to give their off to trying to serve other people [Music] okay hey what's the biggest uh species in here do you know all right you ready they going to be mad they're going to be mad but I'm going to do it all right I'm going to do it but they're going to be mad at me that's the only time you guys going see that first and foremost just want to really thank the uh families the host families having us out here we got some some beautiful boats and and we were able to you know really grow I felt like as a team um you know I wasn't too sure how everybody was going to feel about uh different Lake activities but everybody you know actually just had a had a blast and was tubing and jet skiing and um you know I think it allowed us to to grow and get closer and um it was really cool experience I think it started with the first two days of just giving back and putting putting someone else um in front of yourself I think really really shows a lot of care and I think it just helps like your teammate helps him know that um you know he's got your back and you got the whole state of ky's back
