when we see these heat waves we can see some impact with hot weather come issues for Edmonton's power grid epar says an overnight power outage between Thursday and Friday in Southwest Edmonton was due to a cable fault while the cause is under investigation saying generally the system is under pressure the heat itself has an impact on our equipment it doesn't let it cool down and it adds to its Heating and then the second one of course is that our customers really want to keep cool so we see those AC go on we see those fans go on and that increases the demand in our system which can put some additional stress on the grid epar says they closely monitoring the situation taking step to lower the risk of future outages by shifting load use if you kept plugging more and more appliances into a single outlet you're going to run into problems is try to shift load around to try to even it out as much as we can epar is asking Ed bonian to think about shifting their own power consumption out of peak afternoon hours to help the grid like waiting until evening to run major appliances like dryers and charging their electric vehicles from Edmonson Leo crat C news
