1 MINUTE AGO: Devasting New Details About Stevie Nicks

I used to carry a gram of cocaine in my boot at all times and it was the first thing I thought of when I woke up in the morning and the last thing I thought of before I went to bed Stevie Nicks recently confessed the biggest mistake she made with the band Fleetwood Mac if you've been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice you might think having regrets would be hard to understand but for Stevie Nick the famous lead singer of Fleetwood Mac regrets are genuine while she often appears almost magical with her beautiful voice and dreamy presence NYX has always been more down toe than that image just like everyone else she isn't perfect and has made mistakes in her life her struggles with drugs like cocaine were talked about a lot in the media along with her many romantic relationships especially with other members of Fleetwood Mac the band has always been open about their wild past and has often embraced it Flaws and All however one of nix's biggest regrets isn't related to the Wilder side of her life but to a gentler part of her time with the band showing that there was more to her story than just the more talked about moments what could Stevie have possibly done to the members of her band how does her partner Lindsay Buckingham play a part in all this stay tuned to find out early life Stephanie lean Stevie Nicks was born in Phoenix Arizona at Good Samaritan Hospital to her parents Jess and Barbara Nicks she comes from a mix of German English Welsh and Irish background from a very young age NX was introduced to music by her grandfather Aaron Jess AJ Nick senior who taught her how to sing with him when she was just 4 years old her mother Barbara was very protective often keeping Stevie at home more than usual Barbara also encouraged Stevie's love for fairy tales which likely fueled her imaginative Spirit when she was little Stevie couldn't pronounce her full name Stephanie correctly and instead called herself TD this cute mispronunciation led to her lifelong nickname Stevie growing up Stevie listened to a lot of popular R&B music on the radio she loved groups like The charel and Martha Reeves and the velas her grandfather even bought her a big collection of Records when she was in the fifth grade giving her a mix of country rockabilly and songs from the Everly Brothers one of her favorite songs at the time was party doll Stevie's childhood involved moving around a lot because her father worked as a vice president for Greyhound the family lived in many different cities including Phoenix Albuquerque El Paso Salt Lake City Los Angeles and San Francisco for her 16th birthday Stevie received a guitar as a gift and with it she wrote her very first song called I've loved and I've lost and I'm sad but not blue she spent much of her teenage years playing music and living in what she described as her own little musical world while attending Arcadia High School in California Stevie joined her first band called The Changing Times which focused on folk rock and harmonizing vocals later on she met Lindsay Buckingham who would become not only her musical partner but also her romantic partner she met him during her senior year at meno Atherton High School in California Stevie heard Lindsay playing the song California dreaman at a local youth club and she decided to join him in singing she recalled that she thought Lindsay was very Charming at the time Lindsay was in a psychedelic rock band called Fritz but some of the members were leaving for college he asked Stevie to step in as the lead singer in the middle of 1967 the band Fritz had the opportunity to open for famous acts like Jimmy Hendrick and Janice Joplin between 1968 and 1970 Stevie often credited these iconic performers for influencing her intensity and passion on stage Stevie and Lindsay both both went on to attend San Jose State University Stevie majored in speech communication and even thought about becoming an English teacher at one point however with the support of her father she decided to leave school to follow her true passion pursuing a music career alongside Lindsay career after Fritz broke up in 1972 Stevie Nicks and Lindsay Buckingham continued working together writing songs as a Duo they spent late nights recording demo tapes in Daily City California using a small fourt trck tape machine that Buckingham kept at his father's coffee roasting plant eventually they got a deal with poor records leading to the release of their album Buckingham Knicks in 1973 unfortunately the album didn't sell well and poor dropped them from the label without any income from the album things got tough Buckingham fell ill with mononucleosis and Nyx had to take on several jobs to make NS meet he waited tables and even cleaned the house of producer Keith Olsen where she and Buckingham were living at the time later they moved in with their friend Richard dashut around this time Nicks also started using cocaine believing as many did then that it was just a fun recreational drug and not harmful while staying with Das Sho Buckingham got the opportunity to tour with the Everly Brothers playing guitar for them in 1972 meanwhile Nick stayed behind continuing to work on her songwriting during this period she wrote the song ranan after seeing the name in a book called Triad by Mary leader several years later a fan sent her another book that included the legendary character ranan which inspired Nick even more she also wrote the song Landslide during this time which reflected both the natural beauty of Aspen and the challenges she was facing in her relationship with Buckingham in late 1974 producer Keith Olsen played a track from Buckingham Knicks called called Frozen love for Mick Fleetwood the drummer for Fleetwood Mack who was at sound city in California looking for a new recording studio Fleetwood was impressed with Buckingham's guitar playing and remembered him when Fleetwood Max's guitarist Bob Welch left the band to go solo on December 31st 1974 Fleetwood called Buckingham and asked him to join the band however Buckingham wouldn't agree unless Nicks could join too saying they were a package deal Fleetwood Mack decided to take them both on which transformed the band from a British Blues group into a more widely appealing anglo-american band their first rehearsals together confirmed that this was the right move as Buckingham and nicks brought new harmonies and a pop influence to the band in 1975 Fleetwood Mac achieved International Fame with their self-titled album nix's song ranan became so popular that Rolling Stone later named it one of the 500 Greatest Songs of all time her live performances of the song during this period took on a theatrical quality building an energy and passion Mick Fleetwood even said that watching her perform rihan was like witnessing an exorcism another one of nicks's songs land slide also became a hit receiving millions of radio plays Nick started to pay more attention to her image as a performer she worked with clothing designer Margie Kent to create a unique onstage look which became a signature style for her her outfits had a Bohemian Vibe featuring flowing skirts Shaws and platform boots though Nix and Buckingham found success with Fleetwood Mac their personal relationship was falling apart Nick eventually ended things between them during this period the band began recording their next album rumors which would go on to become one of the most famous albums of all time at the same time Nix and Buckingham also provided backup vocals for Warren zon second album nxs contributed several songs to rumors including dreams which became Fleetwood Max's only number one hit on the Billboard Hot 100 another song NYX wrote Silver Springs was about her turbulent relationship with buckingam however it wasn't included on rumors because it was too long and the band wanted to avoid having too many slow songs on the album NYX was upset about the decision especially because the song contained some of the band's best guitar work Silver Springs ended up as the bside to Buckingham song Go Your Own Way which was also about their breakup over time Silver Springs became a collector's item among fans and was later included in Fleetwood Max's retrospective album 25 years the chain in 1992 rumors Fleetwood Max's second album after Stevie Nicks and Lindsay Buckingham joined the band became the top selling album of 1977 and as of 27 17 had sold over 45 million copies worldwide this impressive feat made it one of the bestselling albums in history the album dominated the American music charts holding the number one spot for an incredible 31 weeks and it reached the top of the charts in other countries as well in 1978 rumors won the Grammy award for album of the year it also produced four top 10 singles on the US Billboard Hot 100 including nix's song Dreams in November 1977 while on tour in New Zealand Nix and Mick Fleetwood began a secret affair even though Fleetwood was married to Jenny Boyd at the time NYX has expressed deep regret over the affair stating that it was something she never imagined would happen she felt a strong attachment to fleetwood's family and was devastated by the situation the affair ended quickly because Nicks realized it wasn't sustainable and believed that if it had continued it would have destroyed Fleetwood Mac by October 1978 Fleetwood left Boyd but not for niys instead he became involved with nix's close friend Sarah Recker from 1979 to 1982 Fleetwood Mack continued to build on the success of rumors with new albums after the rumors tour the band started working on their third album with Nix and Buckingham called Tusk niy had a large collection of songs she hadn't yet recorded with the band because of the challenge of dividing album space among three songwriters tusk was finally released on October 19th 1979 followed by the recording of marage in late 1981 and early 1982 during the recording of Tusk nxs provided backup vocals for nearly every track on notshy an album by musician Walter Egan who was a friend of both Nicks and Buckingham one of Egan's songs Magnet and Steel which was inspired by Nicks became a hit thanks in part to her backup vocals Buckingham also helped produce the album and played guitar on some tracks nix's collaborations with other artists during this time also gained attention in 1978 she recorded the duet Whenever I Call You Friend with Kenny Loggins which became a hit the following year in 1979 she sang another duet gold with John Stewart both songs performed well on the charts in 1981 Nick made occasional guest appearances with Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers during their Hard Promises tour further expanding her influence in the music world while Fleetwood Mack was recording Tusk in 1979 and during the World Tour that followed Stevie Nicks began working on her solo project she wrote and recorded demos eventually teaming up with Danny Goldberg and Paul fishkin to create modern records a label specifically for releasing her own music Nix is first solo album Bella Donna was released on July 27th 1981 the album was both a critical and Commercial Success reaching number one on the billboard 200 chart four singles from the album made it onto the Billboard Hot 100 and rolling stone even named her the reigning queen of rock and roll however the success of Belladonna was overshadowed by tragedy in nix's personal life the same day the album hit number one she learned that her close friend Robin Anderson had been diagnosed with leukemia Anderson was pregnant at the time and had only 3 months to live she gave birth to a son and made NYX the child's godmother NYX later expressed how her Joy over Belladonna was taken away by her friend's illness and death saying that something inside her left when she received the news following Robin's passing in 1982 Nicks married Robin's widower Kim Anderson believing it was the right thing to do for the baby the marriage didn't last though and they divorced after 3 months Bella Donna also introduced two backup singers who would become permanent fixtures in nix's Solo work Sharon salani and Lori Perry who became Lori Nicks after marrying Stevie's brother Christopher in November 1981 Nick started her white-winged Dove tour but it was cut short so she could record Mirage with Fleetwood Mac NYX released her second solo album The Wild Heart on June 10th 1983 like her first album it was a major hit reaching number five on the billboard 200 albums chart and going double Platinum the album featured three popular singles and also introduced songwriter and performer Sandy Stewart as a collaborator NYX continued to build her solo career performing at the second Us festival in California and touring from June to November 1983 she even appeared on Saturday Night Live in December performing standback and nightbird after the Wild Heart tour NYX began work on her third solo album which was originally called Mirror Mirror however after recording songs for it in 1984 NYX was unhappy with the result she decided to start over with new material in 1985 and the album was eventually released as rock a little on November 18th 1985 this album was another Commercial Success both Ed by three hit singles Nicks toured for rock a little until October 1986 and performed with Bob Dylan and Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers during their tour in Australia the rock a little tour marked a pivotal point in Nick's life in January just before the tour began a plastic surgeon warned her that her health was in danger if she didn't stop using cocaine he bluntly told her that another hit of cocaine could be fatal after the Australian tour ended NYX checked herself into the Betty Ford Center for 30 days to overcome her addiction reflecting on the influence that rock Legends like Janice Joplin and Jimmy Hendrick had on her NYX explained that she once felt tempted to follow their tragic paths however she also realized that she didn't want to become a cautionary tale for future musicians this realization gave her the strength to look at life with a clearer perspective later that year worried about the possibility of relapse some of her friends encouraged her to see psychiatrist the doctor prescribed clopin a sedative meant to help her stay off cocaine in late 1985 Fleetwood Mac started working on their album Tango in the night however due to Stevie Nick's busy schedule promoting her solo album Rock a little and its tour she was mostly unavailable to participate in the album's creation she only managed to contribute for a few weeks after her stay at the Betty Ford Center in 1986 and during her absence she sent demos for the band to work on one song inspired by her rehab experience welcome to the room Sarah was included on the album released in April 1987 Tango in the night became Fleetwood Max's second highest selling album only surpassed by rumors as tensions grew within the band Lindsay Buckingham decided to leave Fleetwood Mac just before their world tour this led to a heated confrontation with ncks which basist John McVey described as physically ugly despite this the band moved forward replacing Buckingham with Rick veto and Billy Bernett for the shake the cage tour which began in September 1987 unfortunately the tour had to be paused when NYX developed chronic fatigue syndrome and became addicted to clopin a sedative she was prescribed to prevent a relapse into her cocaine addiction despite these setbacks the tour resumed in 1988 the success of Tango in the night was followed by the release of Fleetwood Max's greatest hits album in November 1988 around the same time NX began work on her fourth solo album the other side of the mirror with British producer rert Hine the album released on May 11th 1989 achieved commercial success and Nixon Hine became romantically involved during its production Nicks embarked on a tour across the US and Europe from August to November 1989 but she later admitted to having no memory of it due to her increasing dependency on clopin her psychiatrist continued to increase her dosage between 1987 and 1994 contributing to her memory loss and other difficulties during this period NYX also reunited with Fleetwood Mac to work on the album behind the mask which was released in 1990 while it had moderate success in the US it topped the charts in the UK and went platinum the band embarked on on a world tour which culminated in a special moment when Nicks and Buckingham reunited on stage to perform Landslide however after the tour NYX left Fleetwood Mack due to a dispute with Mick Fleetwood Fleetwood refused to let her release the 1977 track Silver Springs on her solo compilation time space the best of Stevie Nicks wanting to save it for a Fleetwood Mac box set Nicks frustrated by this chose to step away from the band in 199 1 on the 10th anniversary of her solo career Nicks released time space the best of Stevie Nicks Fleetwood Mac followed up with a four dis box set called 25 years the chain in 1992 which included Silver Springs in 1993 during Bill Clinton's presidential campaign Fleetwood Max hit don't stop was used as the campaign's theme song this led to the classic rumors lineup reuniting to perform at Clinton's inaugural Gala in 1993 although no plans for an official reunion were made at that time around this period Nicks faced scrutiny over her weight gain attributed to the effects of clopin at her Peak she weighed 175 lb which led to public criticism reflecting on this Nick said that clopin had a worse impact on her life than cocaine causing her to lose 8 years of her life during which she barely wrote music and struggled with her health in late 1993 Nick's had a health scare when she tripped and fell at a baby shower she was hosting cutting her forehead realizing that her dependency on clopin was affecting her well-being she decided to seek help she underwent a challenging 47-day detox in a hospital and finally broke free from her addiction after completing her detox NYX released her fifth solo album Street angel on May 23rd 1994 unfortunately it was not well received only reaching number 45 on the bbard top 200 NYX later expressed her disappointment with the album explaining that much of the production had taken place while she was in rehab and she had little control over the final product although she embarked on a 3-month tour to support the album she was deeply hurt by the focus on her weight and the negative reception of the album this criticism led her to vow never to perform on stage again unless she lost the weight she had gained what is Stevie Nick's most significant regret we'll get to that in a minute in 1996 NYX began to make a gradual return to music she reunited with Lindsay Buckingham to contribute a duet called Twisted to the Twister movie soundtrack additionally she worked with Cheryl Crow on the song Somebody Stand By Me For the Boys on the Side soundtrack and she recorded a remake of Tom Petty's free fallen for the TV show Party of Five in 1996 Lindsay Buckingham was working on a solo album but ended up en listing Mick Fleetwood and John McVey to help this informal collaboration gradually brought the entire Fleetwood Mac Band back together Stevie Nicks feeling refreshed and ready rejoined the group for the dance a 1997 tour celebrating the 20th anniversary of rumors to prepare for the tour NYX worked with a voice coach to gain better control over her voice and started jogging and dieting to regain her physical health for the demanding tour the Dance Tour was a huge success and the band released a live album of the same name which received both commercial success and critical Acclaim the dance also earned Fleetwood Mac several Grammy nominations including best pop performance by a duo or group with vocals for their performance of Silver Springs in 1998 Fleetwood Mack was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and they also received the outstanding contribution award at the Brit Awards during this time NYX put her solo career on pause when Warner music asked her to release a box set to finish her contract with Atlantic Records in the US she moved between Los Angeles and Phoenix to carefully curate a collection of her music the resulting box set Enchanted was released on April 28th 1998 and featured rare photos liner notes from NYX and pages from her journals Nick supported the release with a successful tour and contributed to the soundtrack of Practical Magic as well as performing in a benefit concert for the Walden Woods project NX had already started working on songs for her next solo album Trouble in shangra La back in 1994 and 1995 as she was recovering from her dependency on clopin she credits her friend Tom Petty for motivating her to write again when he declined to co-write a song with her encouraging her to ReDiscover her voice Nix worked with Cheryl Crow on several tracks but when Crow's schedule conflicted ncks turned to other producers eventually completing the album with John Shanks and contributions from several other artists including Natalie Ms Sarah mclin and Macy Gray trouble in shangra law was released on May 1st 2001 and marked a strong comeback for Nick's solo career the album received critical and Commercial Success with the song planets of the universe earning a Grammy nomination for best female rock vocal performance during this time Nix was also named VH1's artist of the month featured in people Magazine's 50 Most Beautiful People and appeared in several TV programs to support the album including VH1's story tellers although NYX had to cancel some of her tour dates due to acute bronchitis and the aftermath of the September 11th attacks the tour was largely successful in 2001 Fleetwood Mac began working on their next studio album say you will but this time Christine MCV was absent from the lineup making Nicks the only woman in the band for the first time released in April 2003 se you will achieved commercial success but the reviews were mixed NX participated in a world tour to support the album which lasted until September 2004 despite the tour's success NYX later expressed dissatisfaction with both the album and the tour attributing her discontent to conflicts with Lindsay Buckingham and the absence of Christine McVey a documentary Destiny rules was released in 2004 and chronicled the making of the album offering a glimpse into the tension between band members especially between Nicks and Buckingham during the recording process in 2005 Fleetwood Mac reunited for the say you will tour this was a notable period as Christine mcve was not part of the lineup leaving Nix as the only female member the tour was successful but marked a turbulent time for the band with tensions especially between Nicks and Lindsay Buckingham in 200 7 Fleetwood Mac released a live album the dance and went on a successful tour to celebrate their 20th anniversary of the rumors album this period saw NYX reconnect with her fans and revisit the classic hits that defined her career NYX then focused on her solo career and released Crystal Visions the very best of Stevie Nicks in 2007 a compilation album celebrating her solo work she also embarked on a solo tour connecting with fans across the US and Europe in 2011 Fleetwood Mac reunited once again for the Unleashed tour marking their first tour in 5 years this tour celebrated the band's Greatest Hits and was well received by fans Stevie Nicks continued to be active in her solo career releasing in your dreams in 2011 her first solo studio album in over a decade the album was praised for its strong songwriting and nix's distinctive Voice in 2014 Fleetwood Mac reunited for their on with the show tour which was notable as it included Christine McVey returning to the band after a 16-year Hiatus this tour was highly successful and celebrated the band's classic lineup in 2018 nxs was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame again this time as a solo artist making her the first woman to be inducted twice Nicks also released 24 karat gold songs from the vault in 2014 an album featuring previously unreleased tracks from her career the album was well received and showcased her ability to blend classic rock with new material Peter Green the founding member of Fleetwood Mac and a highly influential guitarist passed away on July 25th 2020 his death marked the end of an era for rock and blues music Stevie has spoken about a major regret of hers in the context of Peter Green's passing what was her biggest mistake according to her recent comments personal life Stevie Nicks had a series of notable romantic relationships throughout her life she was romantically involved with Lindsay Buckingham from 1966 to 1977 their relationship was intense and complicated both personally and professionally in 1978 Nicks briefly had an affair with Mick Fleetwood who was married at the time during the late 1970s she also had relationships with eagles drummer and vocalist Don Henley and briefly with eagles songwriter JD Suther in 1979 nck faced a challenging personal situation when she had an abortion after becoming pregnant by Don Henley this was a difficult period for her and it had a significant impact on her life Nick's only marriage was to Kim Anderson in 1983 Kim was the widower of nix's best friend Robin Anderson who had died of leukemia Nix and Kim got married soon after Robin's death while Nix is album Bella Donna was at the top of the charts NYX has explained that their marriage was not based on love but on the need to care for Robin's baby she described the marriage as a mistake saying it was a way to deal with their grief rather than a true romantic commitment the marriage ended in divorce after just 3 months years later NYX reconnected with her stepson when he was a teenager she supported him through college and has stayed in touch with him ever since in 2020 Nick's mentioned in an interview that her step-son's daughter named Robin after her late mother calls Nick's Grandma Stevie during the early 1980s NYX had important Connections in her personal life she worked closely with producer Jimmy ien who helped her with the belladon album she also had a relationship with guitarist Joe Walsh from the Eagles and James Gang whom she referred to as one of her greatest loves however their relationship was affected by Mutual struggles with drug abuse and they eventually parted ways Nix wrote the song has anyone ever written anything for you about Walsh's late daughter until mid 2007 NYX lived in Paradise Valley Arizona a suburb of Phoenix she had built a home there in 1981 where she lived with her brother Christopher his wife Lori Perry Nix and their daughter Jessica Nick decided to put the house up for sale in 2007 to downsize and focus more on her charity work the house house originally listed for $3.8 million was eventually sold for $3 million has often spoken about her decision not to have children of her own she felt that her demanding career and passion for her art were her primary focus she has said my mission maybe wasn't to be a mom and a wife maybe my particular mission was to write songs to make moms and wives feel better she describes her role in her extended family as that of a crazy Auntie rather than a mom NYX enjoys being a fun and supportive figure in the lives of her niece godchildren and former stepson NYX has kept a journal nearly every day since her time with Fleetwood ma began she has said that she hopes her journals will allow her loved ones to see her life and remember her through the details and memories she recorded she has expressed interest in writing a book about her life but only if she can truly and honestly represent the people in it NYX has stated that she would want to focus on the positive aspects of her life rather than the negative celebrating the many Fantastic experiences she has had now what was her biggest mistake Stevie Nicks has recently expressed one of her biggest regrets in light of Peter Green's passing Green Fleetwood Max's founding member and a legendary guitar player was instrumental in shaping the band's early sound with his Blues influence style Nix who joined Fleetwood Mac after Green's departure always admired his work and hoped to share the stage with him one day in her reflection on Green's death NYX shared her regret that she never had the chance to perform with him she said I'm sorry to hear about the passing of Peter Green my biggest regret is that I never got to share sh the stage with him I always hoped in my heart of hearts that that would happen when I first listened to all the Fleetwood Mac records I was very taken with his guitar playing it was one of the reasons I was excited to join the band Nicks also praised Green's lasting impact on rock and roll saying his legacy will live on forever in the history books of rock and roll it was in the beginning Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac andai thank you Peter Green for that you changed our lives Mick Fleetwood another original member of Fleetwood Mac also expressed his deep sorrow at Green's passing he noted the Monumental influence green had on the band and the music world emphasizing how Green's passion and talent left a lasting Mark Fleetwood reflected on the personal and professional significance of Green's contributions and how his music continues to inspire and resonate with fans Peter Green's Legacy is marked by his profound influence on guitar music and the blues despite the person challenges that led to a shorter career his work remains celebrated for its emotional depth and pioneering spirit
