you're listening to an airwave media podcast recorded in Chicago Illinois with your hosts Ken Matt Neil and Jeff this is [Music] triviality hello and welcome to triviality the game where lack of seriousness meets a little bit of knowledge my name is Neil I'm here with Matt and Jeff uh how are you both today it's been a a Brisk uh hot day today I'm a little disappointed I really wanted to intro the show didn't give me an opportunity I gave you the opportunity with with 1.5 seconds left you just didn't take it I I panicked that was the problem I need I need time I need to think it over think about where where Ken is well well we we definitely know Ken uh we got some Intel that uh he's stuck in a hot spring and he's a little too pruny to to show up today he thought he was going to a hot spring in Japan but uh unfortunately he's in uh Hot Springs Arizona Hot Springs Arizona at a Ben wrong place yeah yeah cheaper flight though much cheaper uh but yeah so he's doing okay so he's not going to be here uh again this week but uh of course we have wonderful guests that are going to take his place we're going to start with uh a competitor today so excited to have her back uh we we really enjoyed the first time she was on the show and uh coming just from Houston Texas a Dutch Enthusiast on patreon which we cannot thank her enough for Stephanie santon how are you Stephanie I'm doing well how are yall doing awesome uh so great to see you again um remind people what you're up to and and uh it sounds like you had a crazy night uh last night too yeah I'm unfortunately a little under the weather uh due to boozing but FW yeah I hope my brain catches up and um yeah I'm excited to be here awesome well we're glad to have you here uh and you're going to be partnering with Matt today and uh I'll let you explain where your team name came from uh I have been trying to catch up on shows that everyone talks about that I have not seen so I binged all of 30 rocks so we're going to be the rural jurors all right and uh rural jurors I I haven't really seen the show uh Jeff there's a terrible murder you have so what are we going to be Jee because I I don't know any of the references so we brought up a bunch of of wonderful shows uh there uh including but not limited to queen of Jordan and then ultimately we settled on the worst trashiest of them all we're going to be mil Island mil Island all right uh it's it's been so long that was satire that mil Manor came out and is a real show is it really yeah it's a real show I mean there's so many shows like that right where they they get Attractive people see what happens um so yeah mil Island versus the rural jurors but uh we need a host in order to play the game and uh we're so excited to have her back uh just a joy always having her on the show Savage Superstar on patreon from Bath Michigan Kate Hagerman how are you Kate I'm good I'm glad to be here again yeah yeah we're so excited to have you here uh and excited to play play your game today but remind folks what you're up to in Michigan and uh anything else that's going on in your life uh in Michigan I normally spend my time teaching high school chemistry but I'm on summer break right now so I spend my time doing whatever I want well good that's awesome and we even remarked uh I know it's an audio medium but uh before we start recording you have a really cool chemistry wallpaper behind you and it sounds like you've been doing a lot of housework and uh kind of fixing up the house and painting and all that kind of good stuff yep my my summers are vacation but they're always jam-packed that's I think I like it that way because I I keep filling my calendar so well good uh well we know you put a game together for us today which is a lot of hard work and we appreciate everyone who um puts a game together for us we know how long it takes how many hours it is to to write all the questions so thanks for doing that and uh before we get started today though we need to hear the rules do you have a preference on the rules read I think my preference is going to be Dutch boy wow that's might be the first ever two weeks in a row wow dut Bo so good good on villum so that's going to be villum uh our listener and friend uh from the Netherlands who did the rules read and for those that don't speak Dutch uh 30 questions most points wins you know what uh we're never doing it English again so if you don't know the rules too bad go back and listen to the old episodes away Dutch boy take it away [Music] [Music] STS the cream of the crop but the cream will rise to the top oh yeah yeah perfect great read villum uh and uh yeah we're excited to play the game um Kate feel free to take it away sure so um part of my duties at at my school is I am also the Quiz Bow coach and one thing we do every year is our our fundraiser as we write and host a trivia night so I took all these questions from our recent trivia night that we hosted um earlier this spring the questions are written by our quizbible students and then of course edited by me um so I went through we do um 10 rounds of 10 questions each round has a theme so I had a bunch of a bunch of questions to pick from so I just picked a couple questions from each round so the categories that you'll hear today are just the the title or the theme for each round and I tried to um repeat the categories so the question R in the first round is going to be the same category as as question R in the second round for the most part okay so you guys will get to hear some some high school questions that sounds good and the the loser or the winner depending on how you define it uh will be coming to chop some wood uh on the farm and and build you a new uh I don't know maybe a A dogghouse or or something fun like that perfect all right all right so if you guys are ready uh for round one question one this came from a theme round where um the first nine questions the answers would all have some common theme but I'm just going to tell you the theme uh the theme is games so the the category today is also a fun game so recent examples of these include Celtic Capri Kittyhawk Mogul and Renegade and it's Celtic or Celtic all right uh we are reluctantly locked in oh we are going to reluctantly talk um we have no idea right is that kind of we landing on 100% yeah 100% we're looking at Kittyhawk North Carolina Renegade Mogul Capri Capri or pants or potentially a sun um or a car or a car there's a lot of things going on here um let's see what's a fun game uh twister maybe these are tornadoes do they name tornadoes I don't know I don't think they Nam them like hurricanes no well I would name them and I would name them Celtic Kittyhawk and this is also a fun game is a tornado that makes perfect sense no twister twister is Fame Twi gotcha gotcha okay give me a fun game give me a minute yeah I'll slow it down next time it's a category one twister on this one uh all right or yeah that's that's what we're saying twister twister um okay so we we really didn't have any idea like we started on your train of thought we were like oh maybe they're pants um and then uh they game of pants Sun game of pants uh they they sound like cool code names or something but uh we said uh maybe they're like types of Tycoon like there's roller roller coaster tycoon maybe the Kittyhawk ones for planes or something I don't know so we said Tycoon uh Neil you said it you said it uh oh it is code names oh also a fun game that totally makes sense Celtic is uh President Biden's um secret service code name who is Mogul okay never mind I don't know couldn't tell it's funny as soon as he said he said code names in the uh while he was giving the answer I was like oh my God that's so obviously it well at least now we get the theme it makes a lot more sense now got it yeah uh we'll we'll come back to that theme in question one of round or the final or after the midpoint uh question two is from current events and this is I think the one science question that I have in here um in April the Environmental Protection Agency announced the first ever regulations on posos in drinking water peos is an acronym so what I'd like you to do is give the word that any of the letters P F A or S stands for and this played hard at our trivia night so I'll give you a hint that one of those letters represents the name and symbol of a chemical element all right so we um talked a lot lot about what these elements could be but we kind of wanted to go a different direction Stephanie what do we lock in with I think we're just going to go PE for pulie pulie wants some points what' you guys say we uh a lot of sense yeah we had a couple discussions uh we went into a deep uh discussion about microplastics and our testicles uh I'm sure you did but uh and I wrote down fluoride and plastic which I don't think we're right but Jeff had no I think fluide might be right but we just said acid because that there's a lot of acids out there yeah all right so I heard a lot of correct science terms uh P stands for P stands for I could take poly or perr either is used in pasas so poly is correct f is the element in this case f stands for fluo which is just a shortened version of Florine so I would have taken either um a stands for alkal which means it's an organic compound and S stands for substances so polyal alkal substances so just points for Rural jurors um but I I did like you saying I heard a lot of great science terms made me feel good even though we were completely wrong all right so on to question three question three is from our round Fun With Flags each Apollo mission that reached the moon planted an American flag somewhere on surface how many total American flags are on the moon we're locked in thanks Jee oh that was my guest too I feel good about myself now how many flags are up there some would argue zero um not on this show that's on our side our next podcast some would argue is with triviality what a great show title some would argue uh Stephanie do you have any idea I was I'm thinking like probably between two and four right yeah something like that I exactly do we get a buffer or is it we have to be exact I think we got to be exact when it's that low oh great uh I think it's more than two so what do you think about three yeah right in the middle yeah three is a number we're going three Neil you were very proud of yourself you want to take this one yeah I think um we we had learned maybe a few weeks ago uh that I think there was six trips uh in toal total to the moon like successful trips so I would assume six trips mean Six Flags uh oh I like that too yeah yeah but we said six all right the correct answer is six six successful trips to the moon and Six Flags so there's not just Six Flags Over Texas now that's true Six Flags over Earth now I'm going to remember this before I would not remember it but if it's tied to that man dancing to that say now I remember that he's actually still up on the moon he dances under it poor guy all right so we're off to a good start we got some points on the board uh question four is from our round fantasy fiction it's a short one uh what is the name of the quote space Jumanji movie we are locked in what saw this in the theater you saw space Jumanji I Saw the space Jumanji in the theater and it it starts Jeff was just watching a video of while you were half sleeping on the couch oh my God that's funny interesting I was awake I was just resting my eyes now it was story um I can't imagine what that even means do you have any idea I already forgot the question it had to do with space Jumanji space yeah what could it be are they playing the game in space it's got to be what it is and they get sucked into it um what what are we looking at Ender Game maybe a um what's another space space movie Star Wars I don't think it's Star Wars Star Trek also in the Stars also in the stars um yeah that's what it was called was the space Jumanji movie that's that's what it's referred to right and someone argue that it would be called the space Jumanji uhuh it does an actual name note that I'm looking for okay but it's basically Jumanji in space uh yeah we got nothing else right yeah I got nothing all right Ender Game for no points so um this movie had Kristen Stewart in it and Josh Hutcherson and I was excited to see it at the time because John favro had just done elf and this was his first movie after elf uh and it's basically like Kate said Jian space we said zura that's it z words correct that means nothing to me no no no all right um question five is sports so hiq is a Sports Anime based on a high school team made up of wacky Japanese kids trying to win the national championship with their star Duo of Hinata and kayama they took the tournament by storm what team sport do they play France oh I have one more one more bit here just to help you out France won the gold medal in this event in the 2020 Summer Olympics okay um we are gonna lock in all right are you a big anime fan Stephanie uh no not of high Q what about you no um I I'm not familiar with this one too much U my first thought was I know that there is a basketball anime um but I don't think that that's the answer cuz the US won the gold in 2020 um so my other thought was volleyball because I think there's also a volleyball enemy and I think France did win the gold in that well that lines up perfectly great teamwork we're going to go with volleyball almost like you volley to each other to you know you set Stephanie up for the spike for the spike yeah you know some terms just like highq probably uh Jee you can take it you you uh you log in and see this every day uh yeah uh it's a Shon and jump manga and I read a lot of shown and jump manga but um we said volleyball this isn't one of them but yeah the correct answer is volleyball specifically men's volleyball but volleyball was the team sport that I was looking for nice job after five questions it looks like uh the rural jurs are at 20 and mil Island at 30 it's never not going to be funny all right question six is from our psychology round the 2023 Apple TV series shrinking features Jason seagull as a psychiatrist who is mentored by an older colleague played by which actor better known for movies than for TV we're locked in I love this series M yeah it's fun it's really funny I didn't see it but isn't it Harrison Ford that sounds right and he's more known for movies uh I'm kind of out on all Apple TV programs I just give my preview when Ted lasso comes back so now I don't need it anymore but I think I think that's right I remember seeing previews for it so yeah I didn't see it either but I think I saw like a promo for it all right Jeff um yeah we said uh Harrison Ford yeah Harrison Ford is the correct answer slumming it on TV it's a it's a fun show he's very good in it uh he does he does a really good job all right question seven is in the category of country music oh [Laughter] great uh this man was born a Sher crapper son in Mississippi and played in The Negro baseball league until 1960 when he started his music career he's considered the first successful black country singer and is known for songs like Kiss an Angel Good Morning who is this singer all right well we'll lock in with a guess well they have a guess I don't think we have a guess no can you pick it up from the sports angle or no no I no no no the as far as um Negro League stats and such were they just became official so I haven't gone back to 1960 yet to see who would become a country star so when I get there I will let you know but for now I I have absolutely nothing um Darius Rucker in some time traveling I imagine involved some I think we just go with lucky Johnson lucky Johnson so they're locked in with a lucky Johnson um we had discussed you know some blues artists but some of them sometimes had country songs but maybe didn't really like dip their feet in you know totally um but we think it's Charlie something but we we cannot come up with the last name so we're gon to say Charlie even though it's incorrect all right yeah you guys are on the right track this is something that I honestly didn't know until I was reading through these questions um so I thought that that made it a good one for me to share so good trivia for everyone to learn uh the answer is Charlie Pride oh and what was the name of the song The the most famous song you said uh Kiss an Angel Good Morning Kiss an Angel Good Morning I like it especially on mil Island because that's what you tell all the mils you're my angel right Jee uhuh I feel like if you listen to it you might recognize it all right on to question eight question eight is from our before and after round one of our more popular rounds as you can imagine um for this before and after here we go it says uh da Breck plays this numerical Jazz classic while being chased around by haunted animatronics in an abandoned arcade we're locked in yep oh my brain doesn't work today I guess I mean it's one of my favorite albums of all time so yeah we used to play this in Jazz Ensemble oh that's not fair I've never played an instrument life isn't fair mat um numerical Jazz thing is it Mambo Number Five Mambo Number Five Nights at Freddy is uh I'm writing that down for next time um see take five five uh I like I like Take Five Nights at Freddy's just because it's a phrase and it seems like a could could be a jazz thing and it's a candy bar yeah and it's a candy bar so we're going to lock in famous for being in 54 time I take Five Nights at Freddy's yeah that's it good job guys for the for the listeners at home that we walked completely backwards into that and had no no reason getting points for no no right at all to get these points Stephanie is a huge Jazz head I think and she's just not telling us I'm tapping in secretly she she spends her aprils in Paris and her nights in Tunisia she's always in speak EES mhm yeah John col train Etc right yeah I did used to live in Louisiana but it didn't take that's probably what it is it did take some very Giant Steps to find that answer so I had some zans for dinner yesterday all right question nine is from our elf on a shelf round which was V ual but I can I uh made it made it an audio question so you've heard of alpha on the Shelf now get ready for a US president arride a South American pack animal I think I got it oh good okay so they are locked in Jeff so we're looking for a US president on a pack animal South American pack animal yeah what's now what are some South American pack animals is this Barack Obama on a llama oh I like that Barack Obama an a Lama yeah or yep I don't want to think any harder than that yeah yeah I like that Barack Obama goes did you say overthink it and see how it goes yeah let's just see where it goes yeah I had written down Obama on a llama that's it Obama on a llama nice job love it all right question 10 is baseball this Super Bowl winning quarterback was notoriously drafted by the Detroit Tigers as a prospect in the 37th round in 2014 before joining the NFL three years later now he's part owner of his City's MLB team all right Jeff um there are a lot of quarterbacks who've been drafted uh one of my favorites was one of them but um I think with the clues we we've got it so we can lock in okay so they're locked in uh there's a lot of quarterbacks who are drafted in to play baseball do you do you know this one by chance absolutely not okay I think I think uh the timeline I was think because originally I was like it's gonna be Russell Wilson then it's gonna be Kyler Murray um but the timeline adds up to somebody who can afford to own a a baseball team because he makes $600 million would be Patrick Mahomes yeah we had a similar discussion um we kind of went through all those names uh we know Elway was one of the first to do it I think it was the Yankee I also wrote down laway immediately CU I'm like it's going to be laway yeah right uh CU I think it was the Yankees that drafted him um but um but yeah we said Mahomes uh yeah and he's part owner of the the Royals that is correct it is Patrick Mahomes and I believe his dad was also a baseball player I think for Philly maybe Philadelphia perhap I don't know all right great questions in the first round uh and the scores are are super close thanks to Stephanie uh carrying Matt um so we have the rural drawers uh with 60 points and mil Island only one score ahead uh but it's the most important score on this week's episode make sure you tune in but um yeah 60 talk about people scoring on no F 60 to 70 before we go to the swing round and hear which we're trying to do this year uh you can go to patreon.com triality podcast all right Kate uh what do you have in store for us today all right for our midpoint round I have a category friend or else so I want to give a shout out to my friends Jamie and Justine who specifically requested a friends round at our trivia night and then didn't attend shots fired so I wrote this round for them specifically um each of the answers you can get to from a friends from your friend's knowledge or from some other knowledge that I'm going to ask you about so I Choose Or same same same all right uh question number one Chandler's last name or Microsoft's search engine number two Chandler's middle name or the name of the title character from a 1994 Australian comedy drama that was the breakout film role for Tony Colette who received a claim for her role as a character obsessed with planning the perfect nuptuals number three the name of the police officer Phoebe dated in season 5 or the name of SpongeBob's pet snail question four Ross falls asleep on a train and ends up in this city or the Canadian city that hosted the 1976 Summer Olympics question five the last name that Phoebe often gives is an alias or the sign ific name of a finger bone question six the first name of Joey's agent or the first name of the actress who played Sophia Petrillo on The Golden Girls question seven Rachel wrote Ross a letter this many pages long or the Amendment to the US Constitution that enacted prohibition question eight after Rachel walked out of her wedding she told her dad I don't want to be a shoe I want to be a blank or the English for shapo question nine Ross and Rachel's Nanny Sandy played the song Green sleeves on this instrument or the instrument John Paul Jones played in Led Zeppelin's Stairway to Heaven and question 10 Monica has this many categories of towels or the square root of 121 okay we have our Clues we're going to go to the coffee shop and figure these out and welcome back to the one with the swing round uh thanks to Kate and uh we have all of our answers locked in let's see how much of these correct answers came from friends and how much came from the clues let's throw to Kate all right uh friends or else question one Chandler's last name or Microsoft's search engine what' you guys have yeah we said Bing and we did the exact same with Bing Bing is correct number two Chandler's middle name or the name of the title character from a 1994 Australian comedy drama that was the breakout film role for Tony Colette who received a claim for her role as a character of obsessed with planning the perfect nuptuals yep uh that's uh Muriel's Wedding so he said Muriel uh yep uh I just happen to know the name so it's Muriel yes the friends and the or Els Muriel is correct number three the name of the police officer Phoebe dated in season five or the name of SpongeBob's pet snail that would be Gary same Gary it's scary number four Ross falls asleep on a train and ends up in this city or the Canadian city that hosted the 1976 Summer Olympics we said Montreal I feel like you'd have to be asleep a long time to get all the way to Montreal it is not that far from maybe a couple hours yeah I guess yeah he is really tired in that episode so so he fell he fell asleep for a long time it is Montreal uh let's see question five I feel like the trained performers would wake you up at some point like I would like at some point you got to cross the border right it does say uh that's a Greyhound bus here but I'm looking for a train it does say eight hours by public trans but that's bus so yeah it's probably faster train okay six- hour drive I don't know checks out all right question number five the last name that Phoebe often gives as an alias or the scientific name of a finger bone uh show me fanges we did a stab with fanges feel Phoebe likes to use the alter ego Regina fangi so fangi is correct oh we only picked it because it was alliterative too and it's not even because that's not the first name she uses question six the first name of Joey's agent or the first name of the actress who played Sophia Petrillo on The Golden Girls yep uh Estelle Getty used to start all our stories with picture this so we said Estelle we said Estelle as well Estelle is correct question seven Rachel wrote Ross a letter this many pages long or the Amendment to the US Constitution that enacted Pro we believe this is 19 oh we said 18 it is 18 18 amendment is correct all right question eight after Rachel walked out of her wedding she told her dad I don't want to be a shoe I want to be a blank or the English for shepo uh yeah we said uh hat yeah we guessed hat hat is correct from French question nine Ross and Rachel's Nanny Sandy played the song Green sleeves on this instrument or the instrument John Paul Jones played in Leed Zeppelin's Stairway to Heaven yep I remember seeing uh Them Crooked vultures um and I can't remember the name of the um lead singer from that band but Josh whatever his name is or whatever his name is anyway he was wasted and they had to carry him into a car afterwards uh but we said bass guitar cuz we saw John Paul Jones oh uh we went with a [Laughter] flute well uh there's a lot of instruments in Stairway to Heaven but when I think of Leed Zeppelin I think of the recorder the recorder is the correct one we closer it's funny I was thinking I was like oh Dwight Tru plays Green sleeves on recorder in the office MH I think this was Freddy Prince Jr played the recorder as the nanny in friends and question 10 uh Monica has this many categories of towels or the square root of 121 we said 11 we agreed simple math for us 11 yay simple math for the win it is 11 nice job after the swing round the lead has shrunk uh to only five points so the rural jurors are picking up 45 from the swing round bringing their total to 105 and mil Island picking up 40 uh just like the age of the mils and we're going to have 110 so 110 to 105 gotta stop leaning into that Neil get you in trouble leaning into you're right up on the edge there all right to start off round two we are going to go back to the category of also a fun game in mathematic L logarithm natural a s numero I'll translate that for you in mathematics the natural logarithm of e is this number uh I think if you're okay with that Jee yeah I am we're locked in that makes a lot of sense okay uh Stephanie what do you think Uno Uno natural log of e is one natural log of one is zero you work your way backwards Uno yeah we agree C correct nice job good job everyone teamwork on a on a tough math question in Spanish question two current events Mattel is releasing a new version of which board game that's intended to be less competitive for players that may be intimidated by the current version new features include helper cards a simpler scoring system and quicker play um what were you thinking uh I was all over the place cuz I feel like Monopoly is MIL Bradley isn't it not Mattel yeah I thought it might I thought it was acquired by Mattel at some point in time um all the clues lead me to Monopoly the speeding up the game in a simpler scoring system because a big reason to not play is because the game takes three hours and it's too competitive and it ruins families it does that's the fun part though um because the other ones that I was thinking of that are like you know like trouble sorry they don't really have like cards I don't know what a helper card would do though like what would it yeah I mean it could be the game of life that's another one um life is hard right um I think if they were to make a modern life it'd be even harder and then you know for more stud loans you make it to this part where you get student loans and then you just fold yeah yeah uh I'm going to defer to you Matt all right I think I think we're going to go Monopoly okay yeah we had a very similar conversation um I don't like Monopoly I I uh am impressed by people who can play it who like it but um yeah we we said Monopoly all right uh Monopoly is owned by Parker Brothers and its parent company Hasbro so it's not Monopoly uh it's actually Scrabble oh Scrabble those games take a long time I haven't played Scrabble pry in like a decade but yeah it can okay and the scoring gets tough yeah so that makes sense all right that's why you just play Wordle does all the scoring for you don't worry about it question three is Fun With Flags this Asian Nations Flag code specifies that their tricolor flag must be made with handspun cotton or silk which they happen to be a large producer of NE you want me to just lock in a guess here um I I know an Asian nation that has a very specific flag code um and their flag is three colors now whether or not this is the correct one um you know I don't know about their handspun capabilities but and I know what a flag is so I trust you okay they're locked in [Music] um I don't know um I know the only ones I know that are tricolor Myanmar and Thailand Thailand you think do you think Thailand produces a lot of silk yes okay that's all I need are you okay lucky that's those are two two yeses so let's go let's go with Thailand you good with that all right all right and uh we're going to go with the the only country I know of that has a math atically defined flag shape and we're going to S to Paul all right well you guys are in the right area uh it actually is India oh that was my first guess and then I crossed it off oh no they have their flag is orange which I believe is called saffron and white and green oh well see and I was I was thinking about the symbol in the middle I was like that can't be three colors cuz has got like a blue thing in the middle H it is like a tricolor I get it yeah and that's when I was researching this question a little bit for that exact reason the term tricolor is like very specifically tied to India's flag so I felt it was safe to keep it in no that makes perfect sense I always think tricolor meaning it looks like neopolitan ice cream in the in the little container it does it just with like some like a star you know in the middle would that be the triviality flag just a neop ice cream ice cream yeah yeah niry though right I guess so for the vegans or one one row is niry and the rest of them Mark I would like people to submit their ideas for a triviality flag to triviality podcast gmail.com you already have one behind you well we do but you should yeah post it in uh in the crop on Discord patreon or yes email us we want to see your flag designs what you think would be on them and then maybe we'll make one let's do it all right question four is in the category fantasy fiction what is the name of the mythical three-headed dragon from the Godzilla movies we are locked in oh boy threaded you love the Kaiju um I'm I'm aware of the Kaiju I say love um are you big Godzilla head over there no no Godzilla head that's what they call obviously um I just watched the 1998 version over and over and this did not have uh the dog or the the dragon in it um I know Mothra is one of them that's not it I don't think but Mathra is a giant moth yes um there's meca Godzilla which is definitely not this one uh Cerberus is a mythical creature with three heads but it's a dog all right so I listed every that I could think of that was associated with Godzilla and none of them were correct it wasn't three-headed Matthew bradrick um so Stephanie I said triple dragon and you're okay with it yep one more than double dragon so that makes sense triple dragon all the way um yeah we we know that this creature kind of looks like Hydra um but we believe it's king gadora that's correct king gadora or gadora and I didn't have any other ways that I could try to give Clues to get to that particular bit of information nope yeah knew it or you didn't King gor the Explorer there's another before and after you guys are writing my whole next round for me all right question five is back to Sports in April 2023 Simone biles Mar married an NFL player in an interview he said he had quote no idea who Simone biles was when they met and that he was quote the catch in the relationship commentary poured out with people saying they had no idea who he was or what sport he even played before that interview can you name this Mr Simone biles yeah uh we can lock in uh Chicago Bear new Chicago Bear yeah and well just happy that Simone biles will be here supporting the team I really don't care about him playing so yeah Mr Simone biles um that should be the correct answer because in reality some no he is he is kind of a nobody do you do you know this off hand do you remember this I thought it was Jonathan something but I don't that is correct it is Jonathan Owens we said Jonathan Owens too Jonathan Owens better known as Mr Simone biles if he was not on the Bears I would not know this 100% I wouldn't I wouldn't know it and wouldn't care I just want to watch her compete so it's like how many gold medals have you won bro yeah after five in the second round it looks like uh Team rural jurors is picking up 20 points bringing their toll to 125 and extending our lead just by a little bit uh is MIL Island uh we got 30 points in that first half and our score update is going to be 140 so 140 to 125 all right sounds good moving on to question six the category of psychology a generalized belief belief about a group of people is known as a stereotype give either of the two specific stereotypes used to describe the two gangs and Essie hinton's The Outsiders we're locked in we have to name The Stereotype of the the kids from Outsiders do it for Johny man there's two I'll take either are these the kids that stay golden I don't recall um stay gold gold not golden oh okay come on Pony Boy Pony Boy pony boy is here he's got his uh switchblade comb uh Stephanie do you have any idea like we need what they're called in yeah like they stereotype yeah yeah I think I think it's greasers I think that that's that's one yeah and we just need either right yeah either one yeah I think that's it I can't remember maybe like punks or something for the other one but greasers is definitely what we're going to go with right yep okay lock it in yeah they went with greasers which is uh Pony Boy and and soda pop and the rest of them and then their enemies were the soas the popular kids so we said soas that's correct so or Greaser I think I'm the only person who did not have to read this book in middle school but my kids did so you ended up reading it yeah basically I did the study guide with them new Broadway musical it's getting rave reviews might win the Tony coming up here this Sunday or actually today what am I thinking of yeah exciting question seven is back to country music oh come on it's one you've heard of uh John Denver's famous song Country Roads makes reference to a specific US state give either of the state's specific geographic features mentioned in the opening lines of the song and uh Neil I I think we got something that works so we're going to lock in all righty um um I just recently learned that this song is not about West Virginia he's talking about western parts of Virginia and it's actually not about West Virginia well that's news to me I know it was very shocking I said how is this not about the M Mountaineer State um do you have do you do you know what they're referring to in this one uh I think aside from the Mountain Mama I think uhat blue Rich mountains maybe big Mountain Mama Mountain Mama was the uh the winner of the first season of this island oh she was glorious what did you say blue Blue Ridge Mountains right or am I making that up I think no I think that's right I think we can lock in with that Jeffrey yeah uh we said uh Blue Ridge Mountains Shan andoa River yeah those are it the Blue Ridge Mountains and the shannona river good job question eight is another before and after this Bruce Springsteen song is often misinterpreted as patriotic but is actually about a Shakespearean comedy set in a magical forest in Athens okay so I going through all my Bruce Springsteen songs and I can't think of anything except for Born in the USA and it's not America so if it's just a can you think of a Shakespeare play that starts with a A Midsummer Night's Dream I think that that is perfect so we're going to lock in with Born in the USA Midsummer's Night Dream Knights we'll give you credit yeah close enough we agree we think it is born in the USA Midsummer Nights Dream that's it you got all the pieces put them together good job got all the pieces great clue question nine Elf on the Shelf you've heard of elf on the shelf now get ready for a spherical pink Nintendo character from the planet pop star above a robot toy from Tiger Electronics yeah we're locked in this is great well you can't can't leave this in your room your secrets to the to the CIA yes not only that I'm pretty sure that if you come back 20 minutes later there'll be 4,000 of them what is it Kirby on a Furby or something it's a Kirby on a Furby that's 100% right yeah we agree Furby on a Furby is correct and elf on a shelf can be just as fun in audio as in the visual round that's right all right question 10 we're going to do one more before and after if you build it he will come run the 100 meter dash and pull Vault I'll give you a little hint that I'm not sticking to the strictly before and after format in terms of what's listed first in the question isn't necessarily going to be what's given first in the answer all right uh we think we got it we're going to lock in oh no they think they got it because I I don't know well I don't got it okay oh no um she's barely holding on yeah exactly oh man oh man okay so do you know where if you build it he will come comes from I thought you said Field of Dreams so Field of Dreams and the 100 meter dash and P Vault are track and field events so I think that this is possibly Track and Field of Dreams okay that makes perfect sense we had a very similar conversation we we kind of went into the weed a little bit trying to think of maybe a specific athlete but then we said oh it makes just makes more sense to be Track and Field of Dreams so we locked in with the same yeah that's it we're just keeping it simple Track and Field of Dreams I was really close to saying shoess Joe Jackie Joiner cury or something along the lines I I was like I don't know how this is going to work so I'm glad it was that simple and tabulating the scores from the second round it's still a very close game uh the rural jurors picking up 50 points batting perfect in the second half bringing their total to 175 and also betting perfect uh mil Island bringing their total to 190 so just 15 points uh separate both teams before we get to the final round just one more shout out to patreon uh Stephanie you've been a patreon uh supporter for really long time and we really appreciate it uh are you enjoying all the bonus content or do you kind of download it and then throw it in the trash both both okay that's all we can ask for we we've appreciated you supporting us for long so long and uh Kate you've been a patreon supporter you were on blood sport uh very very close to winning it uh that was because you were a patreon supporter uh are you enjoying all the content as well yes I love it and I I want to thank you guys for having that blood sport because you randomly Drew my name out of a hat I think a lit hat and that forced me to be on your show and if that hadn't happened I don't know that I ever would have signed up and um i' I've really have enjoyed it so I would have missed out on doing that so thanks for for roping me into this because it's been a lot of fun oh good that's very nice compliment yes it is and uh we're we're so happy to have you here and both of you are always welcome anytime but if you'd like to join uh both Stephanie and Kate on patreon to help support us you can go to patreon.com triality podcast what are the final round categories we're going to be wagering on Kate all right so for the final round the topic that I went with um was separate from our trivia night and this is just going to be a round of stuff I learned in museums so my husband and I are on a committee here in our town uh that's raising money to try and build a new Museum here in our town so to help us learn about museums we've been touring museums all over the place and I've learned ACH random stuff so that's what I've put together for my questions for you today so the categories are just the names of the museums I'll read those off and if you would like I can go back and give you a little um more specific category if you think that that would help I think that would help yeah all right so question one is about the Detroit Institute of Art and that is an art question question two is from the Neil Armstrong Moon Museum in waapa canetta Ohio and that is a space history question question three is from the Hagerman History Museum in Hagerman Idaho and that is a paleontology question question four is from the Collinsville Museum in Collinsville Illinois and that is an Americana question question five is from the bath School Museum in Bath Michigan and that is a US history question okay all the Wagers are now locked in for those great categories and all the cool museums we're all going to have to visit but uh let's go to Kate for the questions and we'll see how we're going to do all right question one is from the Detroit Institute of Art the DIA has one of the largest and most significant art collections in the United States and is well known for Diego Rivera's Detroit industry frescos as well as a large collection of American art a lesser known work by Swiss artist Henry fuselli can be found in one of the second floor galleries this painting depicts a woman wearing a white gown and sprawled across a bed in deep Sleep an incubus sits top her chest as the head of a horse can be seen peering out from behind a curtain give the name of this terrifying painting which references what you might experience after viewing it or possibly the type of horse question two is from the Neil Armstrong Museum in waapa canetta Ohio when the Apollo 11 astronauts returned to Earth after the first moon landing NASA scientists required them to quarantine for 60 hours out of fear that they might bring back Moon germs what company provided the mobile quarantine facility that included living and sleeping quarters a kitchen bathroom and an appropriate space aged design question three the Hagerman History Museum in Hagerman Idaho Hagerman Idaho is located across the Snake River from the hegerman Fossil Beds National Monument which is one of the richest Pine fossil deposits in the world it's best known for a quarry that contained hundreds of complete fossilized skeletons that are a possible relative of the extinct Dino hippus and are an ancestor to which common land mammal similar fossils have been discovered in Texas and it's quite common to see the modern version of this animal in both Texas and Idaho today question four is from Collinsville Museum in Collinsville Illinois Collinsville is home to the world's largest bottle of what product This 170ft Tall example of 20th century roadside Americana was not actually filled with the product but rather with water used in its production I also saw a similar attraction at a museum in Pittsburgh though the product there was produced by a different company and has a slightly different spelling and question five it's from the bass School Museum in Bath Michigan the bass School Museum tells the story of the bass school disaster that occurred on May 18th 1927 when a disgruntled former School Board member set off an explosion in the basement of the school building on the last day of school he then arrived at the chaotic scene and detonated a second blast in what is recognized as the first suicide car bombing the explosions killed a total of 44 children staff and community members and injured dozens more this event made national and international headlines though very few people are aware of it today what major historical event occurred later that same week which pushed the bath disaster out of the headlines coincidentally this event involved a Michigan native who himself was later the victim of a child related crime okay we will look at these and be back with our answers this episode things there are plenty of old photographs from this time period of children out in the streets playing in and among the dead horse carcasses oh I miss those days things used to be so much simpler cat and Jethro then there's the urine wheel which sounds like a really bad game show done weird things we Ur cat and Jethro box of oddities that is really mysterious join cat and Jethro Gilligan Toth for the strange the bizarre the unexpected as they lift the lid and cautiously peer inside the box of oddities the Webby award-winning box of podcast from airwave [Music] media okay all the answers are now locked in we're going to throw back to Kate for the clues and we'll see how this all shakes out all right uh question one in my Museum tour was from the Detroit Institute of Art the DIA has one of the largest and most significant art collections in the US and is well known for Diego Rivera's Detroit industry frescos as well as a large collection of American art a lesser known work by Swiss artist Henry fuselli can be found in one of the second floor galleries this painting depicts a woman wearing a white gown and sprawled across a bed in deep Sleep an incubus sits at top her chest as the head of a horse can be seen peering out from behind a curtain give the name of this terrifying painting which references what you might experience after viewing it or possibly the type of horse this is uh what I look like uh when I'm trying to get my phone if I accidentally left it under Colleen's pillow and she's sleeping um but we said for 20 points this is the nightmare yep and we did the same for 20 points nightmare the nightmare is correct um and I learned about this painting after listening to the art of History Podcast that you guys had suggested um air media [Laughter] Synergy uh question two the Neil Armstrong Moon Museum in waapa canetta Ohio when the Apollo 11 astronauts returned to Earth after the moon landing NASA scientists required them to quarantine for 60 hours out of fear they may bring back Moon germs what company provided the mobile quarantine facility that included living and sleeping quarters a kitchen a bathroom and an appropriate Space Age design yep pretty funny photo of this uh of the astronauts looking out out at Richard Nixon might be the only photo I like with Richard Nixon and uh it's an Airstream trailer so that's what we put I don't know what any of that is but we wagered 15 points and said Disney based off the World of Tomorrow the correct answer is Airstream and I believe you can actually see one of those Airstream trailers at the Smithsonian in Washington DC question number three the hag History Museum in Hagerman Idaho Hagerman Idaho is located across the Snake River from the Hagerman Fossil Beds National Monument which is one of the richest Pine fossil deposits in the world it's best known for a quarry that contained hundreds of complete fossilized skeletons that are a possible relative of the extinct Dino hippus and are an ancestor to which common land mamal similar fossils have been discovered in Texas and it's quite common to see the modern version of this animal in both Texas and Idaho today we weren't too sure on this one we just thought what would look like a cool fossil uh and maybe give you some sort of STD but we said armadillo for uh 20 points uh we waag for 20 and we thought that this is also a type of horse we just said horse horse is correct I think you guys clued in on the hippus of Doo Dino hippus I did was all stepan oh hippus that's right now is this related to you in any way the hegerman museum no it's not at all ough my husband and I took a a quick trip out to Idaho a couple weeks ago and um the town is is named after typo like uh somebody added the R by mistake so it's it's not really no discounts for you town no we were kind of a novelty like do you know who I am question four the Collinsville Museum in Collinsville Illinois Collinsville is home to the world's largest bottle of what product this 170 foot tall example of 20th century roadside Americana was not actually filled with the product but rather with water used in its production I also saw a similar attraction at a museum in Pittsburgh though the product there was produced by a different company and has a slightly different spelling yep for uh 30 points uh we thought that maybe the one in Pittsburgh was catchup uh by hin so we said the other one had to be cat up so that's what we locked in with we wagered 30 and we thought it'd be funny if it's in Illinois because we don't put this on our hot dogs so we also said hunts catsup uh I'll I'll take it I think it's actually um Brooks is the brand of cats up or Hines katchup in Pittsburgh but catchup katchup is the correct answer we will take it I'm in another two for one Museum question question five is from the Bas School Museum in Bath Michigan the bass School Museum tells the story of the bass school disaster that occurred on May 18th 1927 when a disgruntled former School Board member set off an explosion in the basement of the school building on the last day of school he then arrived at the chaotic scene and detonated a second blast in what is recognized as the first suicide car bombing the explosions killed a total of 44 children staff and community members and injured dozens more this event made national and international headlines though very few people are aware of it today what major historical event occurred later that same week which pushed the bath disaster out of the headlines coincidentally this event involved a Michigan native who himself was later the victim of a child related crime we'll let uh the other team go first if you want uh we waiter 20 and we said the Hindenburg baby and that was one of the reasons we let you go first we for 30 uh this inspired murder on the oran Express uh we said this was the Lindberg baby yes this well H I think I'm gonna Lindberg crossing the Atlantic but yes yes all right which was what I have written record that was the correct answer actually Lindberg and I crossed it off he said oh no stop Crossing out right answers that is your biggest problem I'm listening to you sir that's your biggest problem I take that back not advised this game is a a real Hindenberg for us okay so yes the correct answer was Charles lindberg's transatlantic solo flight which was later in 1927 yeah the Hindenburg was 193 37 yeah I always remember it comes 25 years after the tight in seven so if you think about it and I'm not sure when the the Lindberg baby was like probably 30s maybe early 30s yeah after the game it looks like uh the rural jurors are going to be picking up 35 points bring their total to 210 uh but uh picking up 80 points is MIL Island uh bringing arel to 270 uh making today's cream of the crop on balance off balance doesn't matter I'm better than you are yeah great game uh Stephany you basically carried Matt the whole game you wrote down the right answers you crossed him out so you only have yourself to blame I I and I will I'm going to go cry now thank you no but you're only you're one in one now so that way you have to come
