this week is LR Mitchell has supposedly reported been fined quar of a million dollars which is not chump Changed by the South City rabbit o due to the latest incident what are your thoughts on the bunny finally putting their foot down for their Superstar fullback I haven't read or heard any of this is any of it suspended what's what's the technicalities what's the details behind it well look I don't really want to know because I want to it's not often I do this but I purposely avoided this story Aaron wood was on earlier and he blew up about it and I thought nope I'm going to leave all of that because I just want to frame it as he's been fined don't care what amount so while you do the research I just want to have my say quickly I think South Sydney been treading on eggshells around the trail Metro for far too long to the point where it was Latrell Mitchell Rabbid o featuring some South Sydney players I think this latest incident and I don't really want to comment on the latest incident because we don't know what's happened just yet but the fact that it's the latest incident says it all and I think look I don't want to play conspiracy theory mate but Jo gray is a pretty good fullback you got a good halfback coming across from England certain Jack White's going to go on the centers with Campbell Graham I don't know if the CH Mitchell is as important or as integral to South Sydney as he was this time last year I don't know if anything's that's got anything to do with them finally putting their foot down or whether it's Wayne Bennett coming back but I do have a feeling that if he would to go in tomorrow and say throw his hands up and say I'm out of here they'd say see you later yeah look it would be interesting to know the intricacies of the fine I you you can't just straight up find someone 250 grand um there's there's like that's a quarter of his yearly salary before tax MH so you know there isn't there isn't a a place where that's going to that's going to actually hold up now I would dare say that a big chunk of that will be suspended and some of it will you know you pay it off over installments of the remainder of his contract look lr's got a lot of growing up to do right on his day one of the best players in the NRL one of the best players we've seen you know freaking nature in the centers was brilliant on the wing is a good fullback is an origin weapon never lets his country down um but he has a lot of growing up to do off the field and I I I hope that this is the the the Wake Up Call that he needs and us as rugby league fans deserve because rugby league is a much better place when the T Mitchell was playing footy like that smile that he has is so infectious the love that he has for the game you know Win Lose or Draw you're always going to get something good out of him in a post game press conference some people might not like it some people do I'm I'm a huge fan of the TR Mitchell right he's he's one of my favorite players and when he was leaving the roosters I was really really hoping we were going to have a crack at him but there's just there's a lot of baggage that seems to come with Latrell Mitchell and it's what's the appetite that South Sydney have now they seem to be getting a real raw end of the stick with him and it seems to be something every year that's out of their control and it's the the worst part of the situation is it's not out of LR Mitchell's control and yeah I I think I think this is it this is the Last Chance Saloon for the rabbitors I think you're absolutely right if he to turn around and say hey look I've got this huge offer to go and play you know North Queensland that that just be like yes sweet cheers say later thank you for your services thank you for everything that you did goodbye scram scattle Wayne Bennett did come out and say that um he would be more than happy to um have a conversation with Latrell and and nurture him so I think that that's you know they had a really good working relationship when he was at South Sydney um yeah I be interested be interested see I better team with Latrell in there it's obvious I don't think there's any team outside of maybe penth that wouldn't say oh TR come over the spot K cona tomorrow mate you and I are going to be down there cheering on so I I think I don't think they're trying to force him out I hope he would didn't look in too far into what I said before but I do feel like the Situation's better for them now to say o you need to cut this stuff out and it's not so much this last one it's the last three or four and then it was the couple before that it's the fact that you know when when other players are are injured they're in there every day as you said a couple of weeks ago when he was injured he needs to be in there carrying bags and hyping these young kids up not not off taking a break and not not up doing stuff on on his property or or whatever and I'm not saying that he wasn't allowed to do that but as the biggest player in the competition like some would argue he needs to be front and center of everything South Sydney do so I think I had a couple mates messag me and say they can't believe that he's just been stood down at the end of the year he should be at every single game he should be there he should be wearing the bunny suit he should be doing something he should be with Jo gray 24/7 like this is a kid that could just through osmosis learned so much from the TR Mitchell so it's really disappointing to see I hope sou putting their foot down this could really go one or two ways I hope the TR looks and goes all I get it I got a genuine crack of the Premier shet here on Wayne Bennett I'm going to pull my head in be the best player in the competition again because that that's what we deserve as rugby league fans but I'm moving on to something that hopefully this this beats Immortal named on Wednesday night and that is that the the next Immortal will be inducted on Wednesday night now full disclosure we are recording this on Tuesday we'll do our best to get it up ahead who do you think it'll be tomorrow night mate there's so many players right there are so many players that I just feel like the immortal tag is getting a little bit washed there's a Hall of Fame and they're getting so many Immortals now it feels like there's a Hall of Fame inside the hall of fame um you know I think they they skipped like the sterlo Breck Kenny era and the sterlo bre Kenny argument as to if it was going to be one of them who was it going to be um they Overlook Darren loia for Andrew Johns and I I respect the hell out of that um I think if you're saying now like who who is the next Immortal what's the greatest guy to ever lace up a boot and that's Cameron Smith it has to be Cameron Smith and if it's anybody else if they go back back to the 1980s and induct somebody it's going to feel like they made a mistake and this is just a oh here you go sorry here's a sympathy entrance and if it's Darren loia then Cameron Smith has to buy his time and it's going to be another 5 years before they get an immortal in they probably just need to turn around and go you know what the next Immortal is that Queensland spine that's just what we're going to call it the Queensland spine the 18 origin Series in a row and we'll close it down after that just leave it leave it alone I do you reckon the NL will tip their hat because they've already announced the Hall of Fame members being cam Smith and Jonathan Thon who were two very highly regarded players and I dare say probably the two hottest discussions with your lock ears I've seen Brett Kenny's name up a lot this week uh Sterling's another one you you mentioned there's there's a couple of names from further back that you don't know now that JNS is in because they sort of rushed Andrew John's in and me maningo obviously was always going to make it they sort of rushed him in when all these players a long long time ago are still sitting there so I don't know whether they go back and then they now that th and Smith are in the Hall of Fame you can't go hey Hall of Fame oh by the way it's uh get back up here you're the immortal I feel like that that's a bit anti climactic so I think maybe they just tip their hat a little bit to say look Smith's going in there 100% I dare say thst's not far behind it's not their night tomorrow night or tonight is this as this drops so I think you might see someone a little bit further back but I think you're exactly right if Cam Smith's not the next one in he's the most deserving in from what I'm saying but then again I didn't see a single second of Brett Kenny's career so yeah look and that that's just what we can go off now like we were blessed to see Andrew Johns we've been blessed to see Darren loia Brad fitler I've been blessed to see Brad fitler Coach man I'm I'm so stoked that he was the new South bars coach that was awesome we've been blessed to see Cooper Kon um thir Billy Greg cam Smith so I think no matter what someone's going to have a a Barney somewhere the best thing that they could do is go back and bring Ron cot and just put Rong cot in there just go go ahead it's wrong cot and then we'll work our way back up yeah so we'll see in 140 years cam Smith look wherever it goes people are going to complain but I dare say whoever goes in and I know I'm saying that a lot tonight will be just desing so look we we move on from um a definite Immortal to who I believe is a Brooks returns to Tiger Town future Immortal and that's Luke Brooks who along with his uh Weber barbecue I believe are returning to play the Tigers on Thursday night how is not this the biggest story of the weekend it was oh there you go yeah the the Tigers fans are going to boo him the Manley fans love him he's going to play he's going to get a taste of finals football is you know he's going to get a taste of finals football he got 6 million in cash at the Tigers and now he's getting finals football at Manley look I I think it's it's just it's just been an all around great move for everybody because it's proven a couple of things right it's proven that Luke Brooks is actually a handy footy player and he wasn't at fold at the Tigers we knew this all along right but in a serious note he's returning it's you know it's the whole he was here too long did he overstay his world welcome he only got a barbecue for leaving I I'm not as big on players returning and making a big deal about it like in all honesty I didn't I didn't care when Valentine holes came back to play against canala I don't care that sha Johnson's last game is going to be verse crala at crala um you know once they once they leave they've left you know I I wish them no ill I just hope they don't win a Premiership that's completely fair look I I say very much in just cuz I don't care I didn't even know till today the teams come out I'm like oh cool books is playing in Campell town this this Friday Thursday night look is it not at lart uh I thought it was Campell Town lart who knows there's 25 just pick one he was there for what 10 years or something won a half back of the Year blah blah blah we know all the good we know all the negative the fact is he tried to get out of there for the last two years of his contract and the tiger shut him down this this is something that we should have been talking about two years ago cuz they should have resold him to Newcastle the second they should because they would have had time to move on they'd be two years further on Brooks would played some finals football Newcastle fans would be happy they don't have Phoenix Crossing Tyson gambling the hars this weekend should have worked and it has worked he's gone to M he's falling into a great situation he's got an alltime Legend and D Sher his house partner it worked out surprise surprise for the Tigers they got L Gavin in and they're welcome in Jerome Le next year it works surprise surprise this is utterly ridiculous it's gone heavily under the radar because I think outside of about the 1500 Tigers fans that will turn up and the 300 manly fans that will travel all the way to whatever ground it is nobody cares no no one cares like I just think it's awesome that that Luke Brooks is going to play some finals footy this year um that's the only that's the only thing that I'm taking away out of this cool is returning the next time that the Tigers get to watch him play on television on free to Air we'll be in a final game never thought I'd say those words now let's talk decisions from the weekend we're going Referees slammed for (finally) getting it right to touch on this on the Outlaws but we thought we'll leave it and see what comes gr maners has come out and I believe correctly for the first time in several weeks back his referees for penalizing the blockers and for sending Phoenix Crossing to the sban for the most professional of fares possible fans are blown up saying oh well why why why the referees have only themselves to blame Terry because they've let this go for so long it's almost been forgotten about that now they do make a right decision and everyone jumps down their throats Phoenix Crossing for me laid on cral player to stop another play going knowing yeah I'll give away two points who cares it's a hard kick the wind's blowing a gale against you'll probably miss it's out wide that is the literal definition of a professional F he had to be sat down but the fact is that hasn't been adjudicated like that all year the referees only themselves to blame yeah look that is the most BL like if you look up professional FS days a tech professional foul 6 seconds left canalo were ready to put up a bomb for Ronaldo mulalo across the other side of the field who's incredible under the high ball against the rookie that was that was the plan he was set he was set for it ainson was ready to put it up Phoenix crer not only came over and jumped on the player late he then laid on him and he laid on him and he looked at the referee until the referee blew a penalty and then he looked shocked when he was sing it is the most obvious you have ever ever seen in your life now I watched the discussion about the blockers right and there's a lot of hyperbole from people like Phil good Paul Gallen people on you know that have a bigger platform than you and I will ever have and ever dream of right which is why this comes out um from them and and idiots start talking about it and Phil uted these words that made me fall off my chair that the blockers weren't offside and if they got the ball they would be able to take a hit up that's not the point the point of the situation is they were in the way of somebody it's a decoy sorry it's not a decoy it's an obstruction MH now you see the Oregon cusi one at the end when he realizes holy crap I'm in the way and he just runs through the line yep that that is what you need to do right so Roy hun and uh Blake brayy were the ones that got done for krala and brayy didn't didn't pass the ball from dummy half that was a bullet from cam McKinnis to ainson and now the first field goal that was taken away but all Bray and Hunt had to do was run through the line right that's all they had to do or run at different angles but the fact of the matter is they just stood still and Matt kroer was was in an onside position for Newcastle he was behind the play of the ball but he knew what he was doing he was standing there yes he could have taken a hit up but yes Will Kennedy had to run around him it's a blocker it's adjudicated correctly and I believe there was another one called jera zako kicked a field goal against the Raiders in a in a golden point game and the same thing was called and a pretty sure it was Adam G who turned around the the Dolphins Jesse bromage came and said but I was on side and Adam G said doesn't matter if you're on side you're in the way yeah you know it's the same as any kind of obstruction that you see if you run if someone has to run around you it's an obstruction so I'm glad aners Ley you know backed those decisions because two field goals pong and missed his ainson nowed his were both correctly ruled as a penalty now I get why the knights challenged it because they challenged a penalty knowing that there was a gal Force s behind and ainson was going to be able to hoof the ball downfield and ho the ball downfield he did M from 13 M out we got the ball first tackle over the halfway line um but yeah just a a a bizarre challenge in the end I think he was trying to say it wasn't a blocker but it doesn't matter bro you missed it yeah that's true yeah look I I just I I get frustrated there so many things we can give referees grief about we we do it all the time you shouldn't pick where they're right like it doesn't matter if they get something wrong 10 times if they get it right they should be applauded the other 10 should be lambasted not this weekend so I was really frustrated in that regard they're blockers during the season during the preseason they got told anyone who runs a decoy or an obstruction as you correctly pointed out is going to be penalized do not stand there how hard is it and I I was I was more frustrated at corala than anything because we just got gifted a block of penalty at the end thing like a minute later it's so frustrating the referee's literally going hey don't do this or I'm going to take a kick off you if it goes through and coral said oh yeah no wor and then did the exact same thing I don't blame the referee on all of those and I want to double down on on my congratulations and I don't do this often about that cross on thing so I've been screaming for that to be penalized for years now because we saw a couple years ago might might have been last year in fact where I think it was camber and and St George and there was not long to go and there was two two points or a point and they all laid all over him gave us six again and then they by then it was just too late to do anything when it should have been a straight penalty and asan for a professional foul you take the two and you win the golden point so good good on the referees for finally getting it right so I want to also applaud one Referee on the weekend who made the toughest of tough decisions ball that was literally a game deciding call and that is Belinda sharp correctly ruling a forward pass however she was let down by her touch judges cuz it never should have got to that cuz Jack wh threw one 6 me forward three tackles earlier exactly right and if we're sitting here if that if Ken Murray got that pass right and they score we're Bennett nabs another Dolphin en route to Souths going back to that pass and it's a travesty so lucky lucky for them but um speaking of something else it's a bit of a travesty we touched on this a little while ago and I can't believe it hasn't been shut down yet Lan Bennett has got another young dolphin now Lan hno hubner I don't know anything about him I had to Google the name he subscrib is a young gun now typically the media says anyone under 21 is a young gun we've seen so many next SE Ando sign from SG ball or Park footy you never even hear of them we're still waiting for that that Matt Rogers kid or the fijan kid or the seven kid uh when when are they ever going to come through I'm sure they're still in the system somewhere wink wink so this could be all for nothing but the fact is Yan ain's been is going with him to pangai Jr was going to go and then changed his mind and went to England and he's fallen off a cliff so who cares there is it time for the Dolphins to say o Wayne get out of here well there's there's two games to go I think the damage is is already been done anyway and there's no one else at the end at the end of the day you're not going to be able to stop people following Wayne Bennett you know if you and and the the other thing that you have to have a look at is that Wayne hasn't actually done anything wrong here neither of those two players have broke their contract it's true so it's not as if he's turned around and said hey uh Isa I know you've got another six years at the Dolphins and you're the Marquee player but Lewis dod's being dropped by St Helens Cody Walker's 900 years old latrell's in a bit of trouble at the moment do want to break a contract to come down and Kat's going and ask for release he's actually gone to um you and aen and said you're off contract Dolphins haven't given you an offer I don't mind coaching you you're a good bloke you're versatile you can play back row you can play center we got a little bit of money you fill a gap what do you say Akin's probably going in and said I love it up here do you want me not for the money that you're getting scream see you later the young kid fair enough Wayne Bennett also poached one of Canal's best Juniors at the moment in Max McCarthy he he went as well he's a he's a good young lock um was in our SG ball team he's played a little bit of um flag this year for us as well but he's he's been out of the team recently now you know why um but yeah look I don't think Wayne's done anything wrong cuz he hasn't encouraged anyone to break a contract if he' got someone to break a contract or say a scenario that was floated around like Jesse bromic retired and then he actually back flipped on that and said no wait you know I'm going to come out of retirement I'm going to go ins sign for South Sydney may get a little bit dirty on that I think if toid pangy Jr I didn't really have a problem with that either because no one else wanted to give him a crack except for Wayne Bennett um yeah the only like when coaches go from one club to another and they inti players to break contracts that's when I've got an issue but if you're off contract you can do whatever you want Should the Minor Premiership mean more? fair enough I love it uh to another coach Craig belly he com out and said that he'll be resting players in the the next couple of weeks named a full strength side this week I think maybe Grant Anderson might be out but but they put tyan Wishard in that some could argue he's an upgrade CU he's an absolute freak it we saw last year brisman had the Min Premiership wrapped up Wrestled a whole players and lost it this says to me that Bellamy you know I think they win the Min of Premiership anyways and it's not like they're dropping you know they bet creme de creme and and putting players on that aren't future superstars the minor Premiership needs to mean more because it doesn't sounds to me if you said to Bellamy do you want the minor Premiership or everyone fit and firing round one he says round one of the finals dur I just don't think the minor Premiership means enough if if I I want to hear kralis come out and say yeah we want to win this minor Premiership but who cares no one remembers in two years time the minor Premiership prize money is less than the preseason challenge this why no one cares about it right and the fact that we've changed out of the McIntyre system and if you lose in week one you're not punished like if you're in the top four team and you lose in week one in the McIntyre system you were the away team in week two whereas now if you're the home team and you lose you're the home team again in week two so look Bellamy knows that he's got a four-point buffer with three games to go and a pretty favorable draw they got the Cowboys at home and I think there would have been a little bit of unrest per se if he had made wholesale changes for this because the Cowboys are a top eight team and they're fighting for position on the ladder as well so you know the highest that the Cowboys can finish is fourth so they're going to be bang up for this and I think Bellamy knows that as well and Bellamy also knows that if he rests players against the Cowboys and they get touched up all of a sudden they're only two points clear of penrith and their four and against has being hit um yeah I I expect them to win the minor Premiership does the minor Premiership mean anything no um you know it used us to be back in the day that if you were the minor premiers you were cursed you weren't going to win the Premiership um but yeah whatever look I say play the Dolphins this weekend the Cowboys next weekend Oh Dolphins this weekend is it they are don't get me wrong neither of those teams are blow blows like they're not guaranteed wins but Melbourne should beat both of them I I don't blame him for wrestling I have no problem with wrestling I did think it was a little bit arrogant last year when Kevin mters wrested so many players cuz they threw the minor Premiership away that wasn't ah we'll see where the fall the cards fall it was a we don't care about this and it turns out that I beat him in the bite in the Grand Final I think if they win the Grand Final we're talking to him as one of the great modern day thinkers you know the greatest Sinker in rugby league Stewart used to be known when now it's Kevin Walters because he wrested those players I agree with him M Premiership doesn't mean anything to anyone outside of the fans going y you won the M Premiership for a week then no one cares you lose you on one of the finals it's forgotten about I think y only need to come out and triple prize money and say it needs to mean something um or we're going to see things like this if if they do lose this weekend and say the Cowboys beat them they go into last round I guarantee he's still going to rest players because in my perish doesn't matter and it needs to matter so there's one for the NRL who watched shalong so put some thought into that but something that snuck under the radar a little bit this week so I want Foran's 300th game to bring it to the Forefront Kieran foren played 300 games I was really happy to see all the manly players sitting in the stands to support they mate I know it was at Wen gong and manly you know fans are typical well they're famous for not traveling but the players did a couple hours down it was great to see and Kieran foren a couple years ago was lost to the game he he was gone he he was uh oh remember when Kieran foren was good this a b who sign on again for next year and look if he gets to next year he could go again he could be in the 350 Club soon nah body his body's done he's got 300 I think it's a token signature for next year um look he's he's probably done 300 the hardest way possible like he's battled his body he's battled off field not controversies but off field you know like he's never done anything wrong by law but there's been you know his his private life has been played out in the media a lot um you know some some decisions on signing with certain clubs and what whatever the case was he took big money to go to param and try and you know win a Premiership and it just it didn't work out for him he went back to Manley he looked really good um got his got his deal at the the Titans that you know Manley didn't want to give him and he's played his 300 games he's you know one of not many to have played 300 games and it's only getting harder and harder because the competition's tougher the game's more aggressive there are a stack of good players coming through and I think he needs to be congratulated he's had a great career he's a he's a Premiership winner um you know he's he's been in that kiwi's team for a very very long time and he's always he's always reliable like you can't turn around ever and go gez Kieran Floren had a bad game or gez Kieran Floren didn't put in or he didn't try like crala went up to Gold Coast two weeks ago and absolutely flogged him absolutely flogged him and who was the person chasing down a runaway samstone Street who was the person putting his body on the line making sure that players couldn't run around under the post to score to make kicks a little bit harder who was the one behind the tri line just absolutely tearing into his team while all his team was sitting there going oh look at that look at that there's a butterfly up in here like if this game means so much to him that it's great that he's got the 300 games um i' I've I've actually really come to appreciate him this year when you you actually remember what he's been through to get there it's a great story it is a great story again looking back a couple years this is a guy who looked gone from rugby leag there was talk of him retiring uh not coming back from New Zealand you know some family stuff had come up and you can't blame him he was still relatively Young when all that happened and I'm not I'm not casting any negativity on him the stuff he's overcome to put 300 games up I really hope that the Titans fans turn out for him in the next couple cple weeks and and cheering because he's carried the side through a lot this year and look at look at his spine it's it's the youngest spine in the NRL I believe maybe the Tigers this week with all their outs but he he sort of held them together and he's a player that obviously Dez has a look to again for the third time in his career to say hey come be a figurehead in the club and I think he'll stay with the Titans for a long time after he's finished up that and you can let him go unless he wants to of course which you'll probably find him back at Miami he's a good thinker you'll probably find him working for Sky New Zealand he's just he's a BL you want around rugby league and definitely needs a be congratulated he he has the makings of a good coach I'm not going to say a great coach he has the makings of a good coach or at least a great assistant coach absolutely and I
