Breaking Down the Saints First Unofficial Depth Chart Release for 2024

in progress yo what's good it's your boy Derek Branch sportsview 36.com covering the W the Saints in today's video I just want to talk about the Saints releasing their first ever unofficial dep chart as of August 5th 2024 is the first dep chart released by team of any kind official unofficial for this upcoming season and this going to go just going to go ahead and go over a few of um names few of positions that are um curently being a man right now and just going to start with the first team um unit on offense you got Chris alav wr1 at left tackle you got tiis fanga the rookie left guard Lucas Patrick Cent Eric McCoy right go Caesar Ruiz Trevor pen right tackle tight end F aoll wide receiver wide receiver to quarterback Derek Carr running back Alvin kamur fullback Alvin Alvin Prince Adam my bad Adam Prince so not really surprising with this first unit nothing really you know is off the choice with the first unit right now on offense Lucas Lucas Patrick you know right now from based on what I'm hearing and seeing is that he's he's a guy that could possibly start as at left guard over somebody like a Nick Sader who was d one of the teams draft picks from 2023 K fanga left tackle nor Brandon he has to he has to get out there Eric McCoy no Brandon as well Caesar nothing nothing really shocking about this fox Moro is in this position right now because Jawan Johnson is injured he's in red his name highlighted in red because he's injured along with too Capac he's highlighted in red he's injured suffer Tor NCL torn ACL injury leading up to train to mini camp n f well injured as well name how I in red but with that being said F Ro right now is listed as tight end one Michael Jacobson is tight in too now notice that D hooker with the third team right now the third team unit I expect that that could possibly change Donald road that could possibly change Donald Hooker could possibly emerge as the second tight end or the first one but right now it's fost world's job um now I'm Jaan Johnson I would be kind of worried about missing all this time right now because this is a c cro business in the NFL and I can see Dall hooker just pushing Jan Johnson off the street man and they get it he clearly loses the job so by the time you all this time he's missing it's adding up is adding up and then based on what we saw last year he kind of regressed towards when he picked it up towards the end of the season but this team needs these type of these players like Jawan Johnson to have a good second half and a good a good first half and a good second half of the season to be successful man in this unit so D I can see D hook D hooker you know quickly climbing up the chch and becoming tight end one on tight end two by the time they put the next one up um let's look at the defense right now defensive end right defensive end they got Carl Granderson or chase young defensive tackle Banky got Colin Saunders defensive Tacker to defensive tackle too we got Nathan Shepard defensive end left defensive end you still got Cam Jordan at the will you got Pete Warner Mike demarius Davis Sam Willie Gay Jr left cornerback pson Debo safety you got Jordan how free safety teron Matthew honey badger so with his defense right now based on his current unofficial dep chart he got all three linebackers on the field and this may change it may not change but when you playing this good you having a camp like this like Willie gay is having and a camp like what Pete Warner is having from what I'm hearing I think you gotta have you got to have b line all three linebackers all on the same all on the field at once in my opinion you got to have it's beneficial that this defense could have all three linebackers Jamario Davis Pete Warner and Willie G Jr over on the field at once because I think it will make this defense that much better all right now second unit defense we got Isaiah fosi Christian boy is rising up the um chart later on draft pick they took out of I believe norn Northern Iowa defensive tackle Brian BR right now is behind Nathan Shepard pton Turner behind Cam Jordan Kik Hudson he's um back up to Pete Warner DeMarco Jackson right now it's back up to dear Davis and anony araji back up to Willie J Willie gay now we know that the Saints always us uses a slot corner so right now it's a line t elonte Taylor is the um slot Corner projected to be projected to be the slot corner right now man for backing up Marsh ladimore is Koolaid McKenry the rookie so if you can man it's going to be it's going to be a crowded defensive back room now between Latimore Carson the Debo alante Taylor out of those three one of those guys going to be going man between by the end of next year it's just a really it's a crowded defensive back room lot of monster feed lot of players Ving for starting time Latimore's clearly earned it but you know about the whole situation that they're going through right now paon D was going to be a free agent after this season so who they going to keep you know what I'm saying um Jonathan Abraham is the backup to Jordan H I think Jordan how breaks out this year in my opinion you know now let's look at let's look at this first the second team offense for the Saints up up top at peris still on wr3 right now Landing young back up to uh left tackle from to fanga Nick salvad Nick salad back up to Lucas Patrick Lucas well yeah they got it ver Versa Kyle huro Right Guard got got from uh Minnesota oi oi Odo can't pronounce his name he could man I could see him starting bro over Trevor Penny bro if if things don't get better for Trevor Penning going forward um I can see Udo becoming a starter he's very familiar with the scheme knows the coaches from pre a previous stop mean it's with the Vikings I can see him starting Michael Jacobson currently tight end to but I like I said I think D hooker D hooker can move up two spots possibly three move up two spots and become tight end one if Jaan Johnson doesn't get healthy doesn't get healthy you know what I'm saying I could I could really see that serc Wilson the backup to um rased Shahed now they're looking for somebody to step up and become the second the third wide receiver the third reliable wide receiver guys have been nicked up you know coming in and out of training camp you know in and out of uh training camp activities Chris salive had a hip injury not too long ago just return the training camp rashed Jah was dealing with something as well a comedian St Brown was dealing with an injury s Wilson was dealing with an injury so it's just a lot I think the group is very thin and the Saints have been trying to add guys to that unit um recently you know they've um signed it puka n's brother Samson n hearing a lot of things about this guy Mason tipson out of Yale who's having a really good training camp so we'll see you know um I think and it over with for at Perry but he has to get going bro you know you got only a few weeks left until the actual you start going to they start cutting D his roster you know what I'm saying right now it's August 5th it's only a matter of time to where the a start to trim start trimming down this roster you know um Jay Hana right now is the backup quarterback Derek Carr Spencer rally is the backup um QB number three but look there's another position where I think the third Stringer can jump up at least one spot and become the backup quarterback for new the the New Orleans Saints for this upcoming season and this thing has been close between Hanah and Spencer Ry has been really close and the Gap the Gap is not as far it's not as wide as people think it may think it may be because Hanah is going into his second year and R going into his his rookie season you know I got you got to remember that Hanah was like a healthy scratch last year for the most of the year didn't even didn't even suit up and Spencer Rally's coming out of college but this new offense I mean both players like both players are really benefiting from this new offense you know and I think before it's all say done one of them is going to pres is present is going to present a strong case of becoming the backup QB for Derek Carr and potentially the quarterback of the future for this team if they go that rout I would like to see both rler and Hanner still on the roster you know because if Hanah knows if if Spencer rally becomes the saint starting quarterback I think you should try to keep Jake Herer in house for right now cuz it's better to have two quarterbacks that know the system then having one quarterback that know it and you bringing in somebody else from the outside that doesn't know that G have to learn all over again keep these two guys in house and if you want to drave somebody again in the later rounds like you did with spener r you know um on the running backs Alan Kamar is running back one rb1 Jamal Williams number two kendri Miller number three right now Jordan Ms Jordan Mims I'm hearing a lot about and I'm probably G to do a video on him later on is the um behind kendri Miller I think he I think K J Miller is another player where you know being out for extended period missing a a vast majority of training camp sessions is hurting him because I could see like I said with with Spencer r with Spencer rler and dalon hul hoker I could see George Ms jumping two spots on his on his depth chart and becoming at least the third third or second straight running back behind Alvin Kamar I could see that you know and Dennis Allen already put him out already put it out on blast put K mill on blast how he needs to make the team how he needs to be um on the field now he needs to be involved you know I had I had high hopes on Kendra Miller's upcoming season because you saw the flashes you saw the upside you saw even though we got a tiny sample size of what he can do there is a potential there of him becoming a a key impact player for this team in the future Donal Road and even possibly this season you know but a guy like Jordan Ms could come in and really put the Saints in a situation to where they decide to go with Mims over kendri Miller you know you know what I'm saying he's not like kendri Miller is a first round draft pick or a second round draft pick you know and he's at playing at a position where you know teams NFL teams tend to you know throw away tend to like deem as Expendable the running back position so Jord man Ms could come in continue to do what he's doing and he I could see him climbing up this dep chart right now you know but none of this man is really setting Stone really none of none of this is setting Stone I think for me when you look at the first unit this is pretty much I won't be surprised if you see this when the um official Saints dep chart comes out I won't be surprised second the second and third units I can see I can see these players being shuffled around I can see a guy like uh Mason tipon jumping up the boards to at least number two or three I can see that I can see Jordan Ms becoming the running back three the third running back behind Jamal Williams and Alva kamaro I can see D hooker moving up to the second spot to the first or second spot on the new Jeet chart whenever it comes out but for the most part I'm not I mean I think this is legit right here this first unit is um this is legl right here you know we just need the Saints just need somebody to step up in that uh third receiver World third receiver role that can contribute outside of rashed Shahed and Chris Alin you know what I'm saying so there's that um some of these players on this depth chart might not make it they might they might not make it to the final 53 man roster who knows it might be a Mason Tipton it might just have not have enough room to keep him on this team but as the way it's looking right now with the injuries some of these guys going to have to make the team some of these guys with especially that wide receiver man is a very thin group right now at Comedia St Brown who a lot of people thought could be you know have a role with this team based on his size and what he can do that may not be the case but we'll see going forward but the first um unofficial depth chart for the New Orleans Saints 2024 season is out and it'll be a lot of changes down the road down the road as we um you know close out the next couple of
