did Lincoln Park just troll everyone the band's 100 hour countdown that they launched online over the weekend just ended today August 28th at 215 p.m. eastern time there was a ton of speculation about what would happen at the end of the countdown including a potential new singer announcement but when the countdown ended it just started counting back up leaving many fans confused however if you closed out the countdown in defeat you may have actually missed a major clue so let's get into it when Lincoln Park shared a countdown over the weekend fans started speculating wildly a rumor even started that some 41's Derek wibbley was going to be revealed as Lincoln Park's new vocalist because he had an announcement of his own scheduled for the same day he shot down those rumors pretty quickly in a statement online though fans also theorized that the end of the countdown was going to be a joint announcement with a couple of festivals including Welcome to Rockville since the Fest shared the countdown on their own social media accounts over 50,000 Lincoln Park fans had the countdown video open on YouTube as the clock counted down to zero a few hours ago and then pretty much nothing happened the numbers glitched for a few seconds and then the countdown reversed and started counting up perhaps the shift from zero to counting up signifies the start of a new beginning fans were freaking out online sharing reactions of confusion and frustration with many accepting the idea that Lincoln Park had just played the biggest prank ever that doesn't seem to be the case though if you closed out the countdown there's something that you may have missed the band shared a clip of the countdown reversing on social media with the caption it's only a matter of time so something is clearly happening on the countdown as the clock counted back up and approached the 9 minutes and 5 Seconds Mark the numbers glitched again for a few seconds and then continued counting up so it seems that there's some sort of significance behind the numbers 9 and five that could be a time it could be a date September 5th which is next Thursday or it could be a number of days we don't actually know what it means right now but it's definitely something to keep in mind some fans noticed that Mike sheno was actually active in the YouTube chat leaving emojis and adding more to the suspicion he seems to be enjoying this even if the fans aren't let's get into a couple of fan theories about what the announcement could entail aside from sharing a couple of previously unreleased tracks over the last few years the band hasn't been active since vocalist Chester Bennington died in July of 2017 this past April speculation about a reunion started after orgy frontman Jay Gordon said he heard that Lincoln Park had recruited a woman as their new vocalist yeah I heard they got a girl singer now oh really that's what I heard the following month billboard reported that according to sources close to Lincoln Park the group had started planning a 2025 reunion tour with three classic members Mike shenoda Brad Delson and Dave Farrell and a female singer so it's possible that whenever they make their next announcement they'll reveal a comeback and who their new vocalist is but it's also possible that they continue to keep us in the dark some other fans pointed out on the Lincoln Park Reddit that the title of the countdown video on Lincoln Park's YouTube channel is a zero symbol which could possibly be a reference to the band's early days when they were initially called zero one person in particular shared their theory about zero on X and designer Alan Ashcraft who's worked with the band before responded that the person was close Ashcraft also shared his own post on his X account which is private writing that he's looking forward to being able to share what he worked on with Lincoln Park for this new announcement there's a lot still up in the air right now the only thing we know for certain is that another announcement is coming at some point and that nine and five have some sort of significance let us know what you think is going to be announced and when in the comments below [Music]
