ESPN reacts to Cam Ward throws for 385 yards and 3 TDs as Miami dominates Florida in Swamp 41-17

P's college football show Josh P from Gainesville Florida and Josh you know it's week one so I don't want to overreact anything but Miami they made sure they let everybody know that Florida cannot hang with them outside of that 7 71 yard run right from Johnson they dominated this game so what type of statement do you think the hurricanes made with their new QB in cam Ward showing out I'm always I mean I'm like you I'm always careful I'm just going to put the bot score in my pocket there's really no story it tells that you didn't just tell with the Highlight I'm always careful in week one I I I always say the wise man just observes week one the foolish man draws conclusions so maybe we shouldn't totally conclude you know Miami's back Miami's the favorite this Miami's the favorite that I think we can conclude some things about Florida but we talk winners first on this show um Miami was under the distinct impression they nailed the transfer portal let's just go back to the spring when they landed cam Ward who was the feature point of that highlight they knew it's time to go all in and so not only did they get him you you saw a guy pick a ball off there well he wasn't here last year he was in Washington you saw uh Brown the tight the wide receiver earlier today make catches well he was at Houston last year and they've got players already on this roster but it's just a freshman and sophomore class baked in and they shine today but this transfer portal class it's such a feast or famine proposition but if it's Feast for you if you nail it like they did you can take Quantum leaps and then also I'm standing on the field that's totally empty in this Stadium now but man late third quarter early fourth quarter they had already sort of drained this place and it's one thing to go on the road and win and Miami had had nearly enough of these type games in the past couple of decades but to do it in such a resounding fashion against an instate rival where you'll certainly have major recruiting Ripple effects emanate from this game and to do it emphatically in an SEC teams building when the rest of the acc's been sucking air quite honestly over this week one week zero time frame I we we got to type the statement in all caps however big a statement we could possibly type that's how big a statement it is for Miami very well said now when you look at Miami the rest of their schedule does this change how you view them in the ACC or is your expectation the same coming into this game no I thought they were the favorite to win the ACC I think a lot of people had they looked at Miami and put Georgia Uniforms on them or put Alabama Uniforms on them no one would have had any doubt cuz this team looks like an SEC team physically it's just that people have this this fair and valid baked in doubt in their subconscious they remember the Georgia Tech meltdown last year they remember years past when we saw false headlines of Miami's back CU they did this and it was just a spark but it wasn't a fire uh I believe that this team's probably the premier roster in this conference for a couple of months and the more we went through fall Camp the more buzz you get I went and watched them practice a couple of weeks ago there aren't many teams that look better than that that's not a guarantee of anything but then when you put your stamp on it in week one and you start to validate a lot of the buzz that people had heard it was a really tightly closed off fall Camp by the way so all you had to go on was Message Board rumors and and hearsay it wasn't open for the media and so this was everyone's First glimp Media included for the most part at Miami and man I don't know how you could be happier I'm standing in their tunnel as they're walking up and a lot of them are are very quick to remind you we could probably be hung half a hundred or more if we wanted to today this game was over early third quarter and they're not wrong it was yeah hurricane fans very confident after the showing they put out in Gainesville on the other side we talked about Florida you talked about earlier on CBS Sports HQ there were so many questions about Florida's offense and just their team Billy Napier what do you think they need to do to turn the page cuz this was not a performance that leaves a lot of Hope for Florida Nation I hate it I hate it we were here this spring uh we did a an entire show here we did a down with Billy and it was it was so striking when you walk around this place the stuff that people used to complain about at Florida they don't complain about anymore they've got all the resources in the world here they've got Mega facilities so in other words every box that you would claim you need checked to win is checked and you know when you when you hear the vision pitched to you when you see it laid out in front of you it makes total sense there's just a disconnect somewhere and in year three I mean going into this game now we were asking can they make a bowl game so in year three that being the narrative around this team was already unacceptable for the fan base but they were willing to push that aside cause hey if we beat Miami in week one who knows this is college football anything can happen maybe those teams on our schedule aren't as good as we think they are maybe we're better than we think they are but you could feel how thin that layer of bravado was CU When Miami goes up two or three scores you feel the unrest you start to hear the booing you start to see the stadium empty out and I don't know what the point of no return is but we we know it's there in coaching some people call it losing a team I'm not sitting here trying to claim Billy napers lost his team but when you lose the important juice that you have to have to be a major program and and keep in mind not only are you just trying to salvage things here you're trying to compete against Georgia you know you're trying to compete against Alabama against Texas and they're freight trains all moving in the same direction at the same time and if your program feels like it's being pulled six or seven different ways can't get out of its own way at some point and that point will be tonight by the way uncomfortable conversations will start to be had I hate it I hate it because I think they got a lot of the right parts here but for whatever reason it's not clicking and there was such a physical disparity in performance on the field today that it's glaring and probably goes beyond that point of being argumentative and let's debate it there's no debating this was just a an exploitive filled performance today that's best left for us to talk about during the commercial break and what's worst is the schedule only gets tougher for Florida on the other side of Miami they heading to Ann Arbor Mackenzie what are you liking in this one I like Michigan I'm all over Michigan in a few different ways in this game this is just a massive M mismatch for Fresno State here you look at the Sportsline model and our projected score we make this around a 40o game for Michigan so I like their team total but what I'd go for more is the spread you're looking at a complete mismatch like I was just talking about Michigan's going to run the ball right that's what they do well it's what they've always done well Fresno State allow over 170 yard on the ground and they average allowing 30 points on the road and that's in the Mountain West so now we're in the Big 10 territory which could be a pretty scary spot for them so again a few ways to play this team my favorite being the spread right now I like the team total as well but when you're your dominance is on the ground it's hard to blow out teams we talk about stability we talk about you know their head coach is gone but they promote within with their offensive coordinator the model loves to look at stability we talk about this quarterback battle as well I think we'll see competitive football from the Michigan side for four quarters as everyone's kind of auditioning to be that qb1 have you guys seen anybody pick Michigan to win the national championship I haven't have you seen anybody pick Michigan to win the Big 10 I haven't that three years in a row they've won the conference and they just won the national championship and everybody's like nah they're not going to be any good I think they're going to be a little ticked off because of that conversation I agree with you I don't think it matters who plays quarterback Donovan Edwards is going to be tot that rock I love it Su I especially I would get it before it potentially gets to 21 I like the Wolverines here too all right well there's no question in Eugene when it comes to the quarterback situation let's go ahead and talk Oregon right now it's Dylan Gabriel time and it's no question that they will be giving him all of the opportunities to succeed today against Idaho ID Idaho excuse me what are you looking for in this one McKenzie I'm looking at points here if there's anything Dan Landing loves to do it's just put up points on these FCS teams so we have Oregon scoring a ton of points in the Sportsline model in this game as well they put up 70 and 81 against the past two FCS teams they played so I really see no mercy coming from them and even when you look at you know the backup we're still looking at a former five star and Dante Moore throwing to former five-star wide receivers so again it's hard to think that they're going to let up in any capacity here I'm with you I actually like your play better than mine I took the Ducks and just laid the points because I think this is going to be an absolute blowout uh Dan Lanning is going to want to be impressive Dylan Gabriel still have to get his feet continuity in the system and you mentioned it the thing is they have so much depth and there's so many four and five starss even when you put in the backups they're still going to put up big all right let's go ahead and see a top 25 matchup between Notre Dame and Texas A&M we'll get to see this young Irish offensive line go up against the best defensive line in all of college football little bit of a Revenge game for quarterback Riley Leonard going up against his former coach what's your play here so personally I think Notre Dame can cover here the sports sign model makes it a 2526 score what I think is more important to talk about with this game is the playoff implic right now because Texas A&M while we only them a 30% chance to make the playoffs right now if they lose this game their playoff CH is plummet right this is a high quality team that they have to beat which is super necessary again 2625 is the score we have for them so I do like them to cover however for Notre Dame if they do lose this game their playoff odds around minus 170 meaning they can go two for three in these you know top 25 matchup so if they lose this it's not the end of the world but if you look for Texas A&M here 40% chance to make the playoffs at they win so not a lot to gain but a ton to lose when you look at if they lose this game Notre Dame essentially has a three- game schedule this is one of them they have Florida State coming to town and they have USC in the back end of the season they need to root for Florida State to win out so that potentially is a good win for them I'm scared because I have so much confidence I love the agies in this game but you heard Ken she's on the other side most people I think are going with the slam dunk saying the Aggies at home how can they lose the 12th man the one thing I do think is Notre Dame's defense will travel that's where I could be wrong if it's a defensive game but I do that's another thing I disagree I think it'll be a lower scoring game so I'm going to go under the total I actually like the under better than I do uh laying the points with the aies and I I will say quickly too A&M I feel like the one thing they
