left behind by devastating in their neighborhoods yeah Utah County was hit pretty hard again by downpours on Saturday and Sunday and nearly half of a small San PE County Community was heavily flooded new specialist Daniel Woodruff begins our team coverage from Fountain Green all right Daniel sounds like the Red Cross has now been called in here because of just how extensive that water damage is yeah Mike and Ashley in fact right now City officials estimate that at least 40% of Fountain Green was impacted in some way by this flood that happened and few families at this point were told have been displaced this happened yesterday when torrential rains came 3 in of rain in just 1 hour falling on Fountain Green that sent floodwaters racing into some houses like this one belonging to the Local Elementary School principal and her husband who's also a school teacher water filled up their basement nearly 8 ft High everything inside was destroyed there except for a few photos the family was able to save since then the community has really shown up to help them clean and dig out from this flood kids are showing up that I taught I haven't seen their parents in years people I haven't seen in probably 20 years are showing up people from other towns are showing up it's just been absolutely just mindboggling so we'll get her done we'll get her taken care of we'll move on and you can see some of the community effort right now is people have been here for hours filling sandbags and just helping out in any way that they can here at the Fountain Green City offices a few more details here the city right now is working to reach out to families and take reports on the damage they're still trying to estimate exactly how much damage occurred they say most of those that had water inside reported at least 3 to 3 and 1/2 ft of water inside their homes Fountain Green mayor says they're trying right now to declare a natural disaster to get get additional resources the good news and all of this no injuries were reported in Fountain Green Daniel Woodruff live at 5 ah Daniel thank you a lot of work to be done there but glad to see the community coming together y well some homes town there H the damage even more widespread new specialist Daniel Woodruff in Fountain Green where people are cleaning up right now after much of the city was hit pretty hard by flooding the damage here is significant city leaders estimate at least 40% of the town was impacted by this flood in some way some worse than others 3 in of rain in just 1 hour I've never seen rain like that sending water pouring into Preston and Robin Cox's basement I just heard a big growl and water shot from up underneath the fence they saved a few photos but there was no time for anything else once the water hit we were we were underwater within 10 minutes water completely filled this basement you can see on this light fixture just how much this line right here is almost 8 ft High everything downstairs was destroyed Sarah here's your room I'm very sorry next door Holly old Droid took this video for her daughter who's on a church mission in Texas their basement also filled right up from the time the first window broke through till the second and the third and that we had 4T of water was about a minute and a half wow so it was fast City officials are still talling the damage they say most people hit by flooding had several feet of water inside and if few families are even displaced the Red Cross is here helping the elementary school flooded too Robin is actually the principal there we had about five classrooms that flooded the damage isn't too bad we canceled school for today and then we'll be back in session tomorrow for others though cleanup will take much longer but people from all around are coming together to do that Preston and I will never be able to thank the community it's just been absolutely just mindboggling so we'll get her done we'll get her taken care of we'll move
