and the transfer window as well is obviously something that Rangers have been involved in as well there's been a few comings and going but when you look at the the two teams that played each other at the end of last season in the Scottish Cup Final how do you compare where the sort of two squads are right now um well we have to look at you know as Stan says with Celtic the way they they've started the season it looks like there's an improvement there um in the Celtic Squad and and team obviously you know the you're talking about the build up coming into this game you know in the midst of that Celtic have lost Matt O'Reilly you know they've got a good fee for him but they've lost an incredibly important player and but it looks like you know until we see the players playing but they've done some good business for Rangers it's been a case of getting getting ready players that that can't maybe run a course maybe overstayed we spoke about it at length um last season and and possibly the season before about players that that have maybe stayed too long um and I think when it came to the summer when you had players that um weren't going to be able to contribute to the team or the squad I think it was vitally important that the players have moved on because you can't have you know players on big wages that have been you know important players at a time at the club hanging about and not being part of the squad and even training so I think you touch on as wages a lot of people have came in because it might have been cheaper transfers and such but the wages have been I mean if you if the rumors are true Rangers wage ball was higher in Celtics last season might not spent as much in terms of the transfer spend the money that's and Rangers I think this had to happen we mentioned it I think it at the Hearts game where there has to be no I hate saying words like reset but there had to be probably about a clearance a clearance no a clearance because you players that were on too much money that had maybe become a bit complacent and and they weren't at the level that maybe when they signed their contract Rangers weren't able then to go and cash in on them and sell them at the right time and they then went over the point where they then the value is gone so the value in that is those players leaving and saving on the wages buying players now ass signing players now on less money that are hungry to go and succeed look it might know what straight away but at least there's something now where there's players that are fighting for the person the team that are fighting to to be successful that are hungry um and I don't think that was the case last season yeah it's a reset almost in the culture around transfers and and how it's managed listen people have a go you're always M if you go back to when Steven Geral won the league there's a time for Rangers to turn the screw there was a time there because Celtic would in Chang we're going to have to go a new manager there was a time for change and Rangers allowed Celtic back in and the and the been punished for that Rangers as James said that in terms of the the players when they've got to level Celtic did they want to sell M really no they left in no choice because the money was that high if the bids were there that you know was said for Rangers back in the time for meles for K people they should have been sold but that at that point they're actually Kent Mar Los goson they're offering them more money so I know they're no spending fees but they're actually giving them more money which is eating into budgets for for going forward as well I think possibly the most surprising thing in that Rangers team news is Tom Lawrence on the bench would you agree yeah well it performed so well last week and I know Ross County were very very poor early but I I feel that Philipe Kon has been desperate to make this number 10 position work and I think it's Tom L's best position he's a runner he's not a guy's going to come off with the back to the game and and be really creative he's more direct and I think it really really worked everything seemed to click into gear last week against Ross County um I do think that the wide players have to offer more of a goal threat for Rangers they haven't done it enough certainly last year for me matondo Cherney looks a really good sign and if they can get into good positions today then of course it takes a burden of responsibility away from serial desas but I do think looking at the teams both teams I think Celtic are very very strong I play some as heavy favorites ear how they press the game they're very aggressive they score goals early on in matches Rangers are going to have to defend well they're going to have to hit in a Counterattack that means that serial des's holdup play has to be good but they need legs need someone from that Central position to get in touch quick and the guys as I said they have got a big job in the wide area chairy and matono because the way Celtic flood that Midfield with the fullbacks they really isolate the wide players with the fullbacks uh for Rangers my's given Tav year as you know lots of bother in the past you have to that left side of the Rangers defense for me today is so crucial you have and proper both players have not experienced this fixture before certainly not a hostile environment like this I think is really showing everyone that he's going to be a dangerous player and both him and Alisa Johnson could be a real thorn on the side of Rangers you you speak about you know Tom Lawrence been a big M after's performance um last week but it's not really worked for him in this fixture is it you know I think I think for me that was a Midfield three I would have picked you know Baron sterin damond diamondo Pro probably that further forward to try and stop McGregor because he's been the one that's dictated this game yeah the thing is boy I mean the fixture hasn't suited Rangers for many many reasons loads of players have not performed and I think Lawrence is one of those guys but I just feel after scoring last week it might have just given him that little bit of confidence we all know of all being stilling yourself FY thriving on confidence but this is such an important fixture but I can understand why he's maybe going to diamand he's got a real enormous amount of faith in him I just wondered whether it's Sterling going to left back cuz Y is untested as a fullback for me Chris he's a young boy he looks good in the middle part of the field but I think he's I'm not sure about his defensive qualities and I wondered whether Sterling go into that position dropping diamandi back and allowing Lawrence to get in touch but so many times that main Lynch pin for Celtic car McGregor has dictated this fixture both in Tempo both in and H character in terms of how to lead a team and if it is di mandate is going to have to go there and try and stop him dictating a play for Celtic and
