[Music] all right guys we have uh one of the most beloved bobcats in the history of Montana State football and really in the history of Montana state with us here today it is Tommy mot touchdown Tommy quarterback for the Bobcats Tommy thank you so much for the time congratulations on uh being our offensive player of the week 204 total yards in your win against Sacramento state with two rushing touchdowns what allowed you to be so effective uh in the passing game and in the running game in this win over the Hornets good to see you as well Alex uh thank you and uh I mean I think it obviously goes down to uh you know game plan uh coaches do a great job giving uh guys opportunities uh putting me in a good opport good position uh to make plays and then you know certainly the guys around me I mean I think our o line they did a great job um and they do the you know they've done a great job the entire you're you know keeping us up when we're in the pocket when we're sitting back there to pass we're comfortable so we can make throws and then our wide receivers going out making plays uh when we give them opportunities let's talk about one opportunity that caught everybody's eye uh not just within the Big Sky Community but Nationwide Julius Davis's hurdle what was going through your mind when you handed the ball off to him and did you see it I mean from your point of view on the field what was that moment like outside Zone handed off carried out my fake and you know it's always kind of we take pride you know trying to hold one guy and so when I was running out there I saw that no one was going with me and so I didn't really have anything else to do so I you know just peeed back and uh I just saw him you know four feet in the air I was like oh my gosh like I couldn't believe what I was seeing and then you know he took off so I was trying to chase him down the field um trying to do you know see if I could help him out go get a block or something but he was just so far ahead of me I couldn't do anything but yeah no that was um you know he he's had a couple hurdles this year and it's just you know he's just a Fearless player and he just plays with so much Instinct it's it's it's it's uh for sure awesome to watch well you're also awesome to watch over 2,000 career rushing yards for you and you're not even in your final year yet as a bobcat that is just the second Bobcat quarterback to have that statline you're always so humble crediting everybody else but what do you credit your speed to and your ability to be so effective on the ground I've had a lot of carries in my career for sure so I I certainly would have to say that it's you know a lot to how I take care of myself outside of you know Saturdays um you know just with rehab and regen and nutrition and stuff like that um but it's certainly you know it's just you know speed stuff I think that obviously goes back all the way to high school with uh my high school coach coach aric gray he was a a track guy here at Montana State and you also played receiver um and he was a you know he was a speed guy so he you know he trained us um he was our football coach back in high school and you know he had all the summer workouts and stuff and so he worked with me there and um you know obviously taught me a lot of techniques and and uh you know just getting stronger in those ways and then when I got here coach haren's been a great transition to uh accelerating that progress and and um you know all those things kind of combined have helped me kind of put myself in this position that I could make plays our defensive player of the week is John Johnson uh what was going through your mind on the sideline when you saw him complete that pick six oh my gosh yeah that was just a huge momentum boost for us um I think John uh you know he came in here over the summer and I was extremely impressed with him right when he first got here and uh you know we have we have so many good Corners in that room um he obviously was able to step in there and get opportunities and he's made he's made the most of them uh you know he just played a great job U bailing off the snap and then driving on a on a a throw that was outside I don't know exactly what the Reed was there what the miscommunication was but you know he made the most of that opportunity he drove on the ball and and you know he certainly was not I'm sure you know as a corner you're not expecting that you know that the ball to go to you he's going to go play as man and so just the Instinct for him to you know flip his eyes you know go drive on the wide receiver and see the ball's off and then you know obviously react to that intercept it uh and then you know take it to the house was was unbelievable I mean just a play by him was um just shows his athleticism uh and and just his commitment and uh and then it certainly you know like I said I think he's just done a great job for us so the entire the entire game you know we just brought so much energy to our team as you keep this energy moving forward here big game for you guys against Idaho in Moscow this upcoming week uh another Powerhouse program in in this conference this season along with yourselves um what is the mindset going into this one you know obviously their their scheme on defense is is super solid uh they play a lot of two High stuff but they have the Personnel to to play that way just is you know sack did last week uh you know they have to have great you know interior guys and with their dline and their linebackers I think they have a ton of speed at the linebacker number 21 for sure he's got a ton of speed um and I think just that entire you know that that those those seven guys in the Box you know uh six seven guys in the box with their one high two High stuff I think that they're really solid and they're able to let you know the corners go out there and make plays the the safeties you know fly down make their fits um and I you know certainly they they just play with a lot of um you know energy so I think all those things stick out when you're watching film right off the bat and you know our perspective is is just like every other one it's just you know one and0 every single week uh coming off a big win against Zach state but you know we got it we got home uh you know early Sunday morning and you know guys just took care of their bodies um you know got up early Monday morning and you know we started work getting to work uh you know against Ido so it's all about the preparation for us it's all about um you know taking it one game at a time and and uh you know day by day we're just preparing right now along with all that you guys are very good at having some some little short motivational phrases and I asked your your partner in crime in the QB room Sean Chambers about this when he was a player of the week won't be beat is one of them what that I that I still remember you know when I was covering you guys in Boseman um he brought up burn the boats I want to say that's another one what is your favorite is there any additional ones that were missing here that you guys are using yeah I mean those are those are two good ones for sure um obviously just speaking about how it's you know just a preparation piece is what's going to let us you know be able to say uh you know won't be beat so uh and then obviously burn the boats that's thing you know our old line they love that uh you know coach Armstrong when he was here he did a great job you know just motivating those guys I think that was something that was really special to them uh you know just stories that you know they reminisce on and you know they can talk about all the time and and it obviously motivates them day in and day out and uh you know I there's a couple other ones for sure uh I always love coach BJ Robertson obviously he he's not even here anymore but my freshman year I think that it carries with a lot of guys still uh just how you do anything is how you do everything so I think that's it's another good saying that you know I think I certainly live my life by and I think that a lot of guys in our program still abide by I love a shout out to coach BJ Robertson he of the best in the treasure state Tommy thank you so much absolutely for taking the time and best of luck this weekend against the vandals thank you Alex I appreciate [Music] it
