Evander Kane injury update

speaking of offseason injuries and whether or not a uh opening night start date is official there is some news coming out of Edmonton Bob staer with this on social media uh hearing there's a very good chance that the Oilers Vander Kane won't be ready for the start of the Season that he may require surgery and he's likely to be on ltir to start the year what do you make of that for Kane and the Oilers here yeah you know ever since Kane landed there um he adds to the depth I think he gives that forward core a little more snarl so this will be a miss and remember this is a group that now has a taste of what it's like to be there how to get to the big dance and sure has designs of um you know fixing amending the way it went for them last time around and I mean in the form of a a Stanley Cup Championship Kane would be an important part of that and just while we're at it J Mo let's make the point for the handful of stops Kane had on his way to Edmonton give him a whole lot of credit it's been a rocky road to this point over a good chunk of his career um he has found a way um to you know to mature to to uh to get away to get some distance between he and these some of these office incidents that have kind of enthralled him again over a good chunk of his career but he has been you know issue free with the exception of this medical issue um and a and a regular contributor a really important contributor for a very talented forward Court no specifics there in the tweet from Bob staer but remember you know a couple of months ago Stanley Cup Final Kane dealing with that SP sports hernia injury which kept him out of a lot of those games in the Stanley Cup Final so not sure if this relates to that I don't want to connect the dots Fair inference Fair inference I think that's but if there is a team that can handle adversity to start a season wouldn't it be the Edmonton Oilers just based on what we saw last year I mean awful start had to fire the coach and then came back from the dead to make it all the way one game shy win shy of winning a staning another one of those Cinderella stories without question I mean you know a deep a group that's deep enough to get over even the uh the loss the absence of an avander cane for a good stretch of time um but a team to your point J Mo when you've got that muscle memory for how to shake off adversity the recipe for coming back from a really bad stretch of hockey um I'm not saying you want to have to use that exercise that muscle very often but you know when you've had it um you recognize the elements and what it takes as a group to kind of correct course and and get back on a way so um this is a a group that's certainly got that uh in their toolkit
