Intro [Music] what's going on J beautiful Wednesday birds are chirping and stuff and it's time for another Vikings news dump and uh ma major news ma major Minnesota sports news so Sunni did you know that she's from Minnesota Pride St Paul get getting things uh going over in France uh Team gold win she's awesome man and she uh sounded the Galah horn you last year to Vikings fan B BM bom love it so uh love to see Min motans doing well abroad also so I feel like sun Lee rightfully gets uh all the accolades and stuff but I I mean we have we have a Minnesotan swimmer uh named Regan Smith from Lakeville I feel like she she gets sort of pushed aside which is weird because she's a swimmer she used to swim and teach at the school where where my kid pees in the pool like once a week I'm not saying which one it's the middle one obviously it is Vikings Training Camp but uh big props to Sunni Lee and also big props to the women's gymnastic team and just mer how how come we're like number five in the metal count we that's right man damn right we USA let's go baby uh also going is uh we're back at Vikings training camp uh practice number six in the books number seven is today JJ McCarthy so uh Shawn borar guy uh in Red Zone 7 out 7 no pass rush darnold went two a six uh mccarthur went four a six with four touchdowns putting up highlights man put up absolute highlight reels and yeah you could say he's playing with the twos against the twos played a little bit against the ones just fine and I understand it's training camp I understand that let's see it in a game I understand all these things but got to get a little excited man plus there JJ McCarthy there's one clip so yeah people said like how come we're not including video clips well sort of a fine line right so first off shout out to Viking sheep I think he's a derome yeah but he had a great clip of this now you're not supposed to be recording yeah they kind of like put that up on the jumbotrons but I don't know everyone does it so it's it's whatever it's s sort of like a gray area but uh Stills I feel fine with Stills I don't know man but uh JJ McCarthy in 707 ripped a absolute piss missile to Jaa Jones who's starting to get some traction now like initially just sha Jones wasn't really getting much time uh with the threes but now working up with the twos and the pride of Maryland like there's a reason why they gave him that Hefty udfa bonus so I I think that he can make a push but uh yeah I didn't have him on my 53 uh but I think that you could probably pencil him in for a practice squad spot we'll see uh but really snagged a great just absolute piss missile uh on a slant from mcarthy and you we talked about ad nauseum how arm strength isn't just like chucking the ball 90 yards uh on a crows hop right but it's can you whip it outside the numbers deepen outside and McCarthy has done that with especially that jayen Naylor back the end zone touchdown on Saturday as well as do you have the Velocity to rip it in between two three Defenders and and thread the needle through that window before that window closes yes he he's got that man he's got that you does need to work on some of his touch passes like times when uh calling for the change up or or or you know the curve just a little bit take a little bit of mustard off but you know that comes with uh experience but I mean McCarthy's marthy looking really damn good out there also you know Kevin Kevin McCarthy mconnell talking about how McCarthy will get some run with the ones and again the whole shift of ok connell's tone has changed oh JJ's just you working out he he's third string right now Nick Mullin is two start a training camp Oh you know JJ McCarthy is number two Mullins is is whatever he doesn't need practice reps and now McCarthy's on the verge of of getting some first team reps and if he looks good with the ones and darnold continues to struggle it's going to be close it's going to be close I I know that the is to Retcher him I I understand it I respect it but and we said Tai will go to darnold but if McCarthy is just head and shoulders better than darnold right now I I don't see how you can't start the kid right and McCarthy's going to push the envelope and also just just wait the maybe they're saving it for night practice which is next Monday the 5th maybe they're just saving that for McCarthy to have his first seven on seven no no 11 on 11 deep bomb to Justin Jefferson and that place is going to erupt it's just going to be all over the place man it's going to be great going to be great also you know Justin Jefferson Justin Jefferson was talking with the NFL Network they're making the rounds they're at TCO on Tuesday uh and he talked about how so first off the font on the shirt bothers me right because it isn't the the new age like Vikings logo but also I mean this is pretty clearly Vikings official Vikings practice gear because it's got the Pepsi patch on uh they used to be Verizon but now they're Pepsi but it always bothered me too so like the Sydney rice era jerseys you know what I mean like the' 0605 sort of era the the numbers on like teen digits were too far apart because if you look back at pictures of Sydney rice his numbers are aesthetically too far apart and it's the same thing here I don't know know anyways but Justin Jefferson was talking about how JJ McCarthy is already uh asking him all these questions about advice how do you do this how you do that the locker room lockers are right next to each other which is great because that's going to be the battery for the next decade Plus for the Vikings and that's what stands out is you know McCarthy is obviously coming humble but he's got confidence he's got Swagger he's not afraid to ask questions and get advice and you hear that from oconnell you hear that from Josh maau you hear that from Wes Phillips you hear that from Brian Flores uh whose defense he goes against every single day and I love it I I love that McCarthy is comfortable enough to admit that he he knows what he doesn't know you know what I mean so now he's just getting information and he's inputting that and every single day every single way he's getting better and better it's great man it's great I'm still pissed off about the font though Fabian Moreau uh something I'm not pissed about so well maybe a little bit but so Fabian Maro uh the Vikings reportedly signed now it hasn't been official yet as guestling pointed out also they haven't announced the corresponding move as of yet but Fabian morome I I know he's not the splash name he's not Marshon ladimore he's not Tariq woen he's not Stefan Gilmore but he's a guy that's started wherever he's gone he's solid impress man coverage that that's his specialty and even though this would be his fifth team and five years he started all five teams so it's it's noteworthy that you have a guy with veteran experience you have a guy who's Adept at what Flores wants to do in coverage this year and we'll see I I think that again Caleb Evans Duke Shelly Dwight mcglothan Jay Ward who who is now taking reps of corner if one of those guys step up I mean that solves a lot of issues but we'll see I I like that even though it's not like the big time splashy sexy move I love that quacy has gone through you know signed Duke Shelly brought in Francis brought in Me and Bobby Kane as well as Fabian Maro so it's good something that wasn't good is so the day after will will rockard won the kicking competition John parkoma said deuces uh he he shanked his first two kicks which is obviously not great and and now it's just like well he he did make it up by by booting a 55 Y which was uh good from longer but I don't know man it felt like we're just out of this no no no bueno can't happen man no uh Drake May also something that can happen is that the Vikings could not miss on their future franchise quarterback now there had been talk and speculation that the Vikings could trade up into the top three and potentially take unc's Drake May uh uh did you know that he and Josh mcon blah blah all stuff right uh but the board sort of saved the Vikings from themselves they weren't able to trade up to three uh Williams Jane Daniels Drake M went one23 win play show and the Vikings end up uh with a small trade up from 11 to 10 taking JJ McCarthy ATT 10 now happy as a clam B McCarthy and you always keep an eye out around the league so jayen Daniels has been good but has ups and downs Cale Williams has already had his oh off platform throw congratulations but he's he's looking good overall bonck is whatever uh penx hasn't really uh he had some nice time times but also some whatever times but and McCarthy's obviously had his highlights but Drake may I mean if the Vikings would have wanted him they would have had to trade three first round picks and the drawback would have been then once you traded three first rounders traded the farm for him you almost have to start him right away but I thought that of the big six quarterbacks if you need a guy to start year one I think that Drake May was the last I I think that Drake May needed a ton of work on mechanics like the upside is there but something I remember from The Scouting Report is that he would miss uh but the analogy would be basketball and he would miss layups but he would hit game-winning halfcourt jumpers and that's what Drake May uh brought to the table but a long story May Struggles longer uh Drake May having some tough times uh at Patriots Camp so Chad graph the athletic uh formerly here in the great state of Minnesota a big picture thought uh amid the Drake May discourse two things can be true Jabron brisket has been better so far while May has had some struggles May's 21 his ceiling is super high there's no reason to be concerned about six practices now ju toos that with with JJ McCarthy obviously there there's a lot of Hope about McCarthy he's looked really good in what's been asked to him and with May he's been basically running with the two similar to JJ McCarthy and he struggled right and you know the people who want to poo poo on on on McCarthy first off that's going to cost more but the whole thing about is too is like what would you rather do it's like oh but it's just practice oh it's good to yeah fully understand that but would you rather he be bad no no have pride and take heart that he's looking good man uh also Greg Bard another tough day for Drake May three of nine with a sack uh re reh shuttle re re shuttle uh snap exchange uh fumble in team uh really scuffled in Maine uh main team period a one to six with a fumble thinking a lot not being helped with uh MAF as a center I think he's from Cal no UCLA uh every shotgun snap is an adventure s sort of like Chris Reed when he came in at Center that was an adventure man but uh again fully happy uh with JJ McCarthy and it's sometimes the board does save you from itself because Louis Nix Injury honestly I I would have been fine with Drake may I I would have been fine if the Vikings would trade up Heaven Earth where Drake may but again under the the knowledge that he needed time he needed a lot of work to be done and I don't think that he's going to get that help in New England I just really don't so kind kind of feel bad for him but is what it is speaking of is what it is so louine we thought that maybe he had been held out of practice since none of the coaches have mentioned it uh with uh as they're trying to trade him but apparently it's a minor injury so we'll see I don't know like I I I know it sucks to give up on a first- round pick especially since uh he's got a lot of guaranteed money in his cont well not a lot but he's got guaranteed money in his contract the Vikings have to take a dead cap hit take a loss if they cut or traded him um but might be time and especially since there's so many other talented players that defensive back uh field that deserve a roster spot you know like Theo Jackson Jay Ward uh Etc help Bobby McCain too uh it might be fenito it might be dunzo uh with louisine is what it is but you know props to the women's uh gymnastics team as well as of course Sunni Lee bringing in Gold about time a Vikings fan gets to enjoy a win that's right uh but that's it you guys know the best you know what
