On the campus of UVU there is an art installation names "The Roots of Knowledge" Through color glass, a wall of with many pictures is shown to tell the history of the world. Starting at A through to Z, there are 26 panel all showing historic people and objects. It's important for understanding the creation of the world. We will be discussing in depth the first panel. "Panel A". Depicting the creation or start of the world. Let's go! This is a Bristlecone Pine tree It's one of the longest living trees on Earth. This kind of tree can live many many years. It can survive up to thousands of years. This specific tree was modeled after a tree named "Methuselah" It was named after the prophet from a long time ago. This tree shows a connection between heaven and Earth The tall tree with its leaves touching heaven and the roots for connecting it to the Earth. This tree is the one named after Methuselah, the prophet from back in Jesus's time. And it so happens that this specific tree is from California, and is 5,000 years old. That's so old! And it was also modeled after the tree from the bible story of Adam and Eve. They were the first people that God created, and they were commanded not to partake of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. But they did eat it and because of that all people have fallen away from God. That's the religious story. This is a volcano. It land and hot lava pushing together and erupting out, which occurred a lot with the creation of the Earth when it was a ball of mass in space. Heat had to escape, and that's what created a lot of the mountains and some of the land on Earth today. These are all planets in space. This one is named Saturn and has a ring around it. This ring is made of particles almost the size of snowballs. They are many of them all spaced out and surround the planet. They consist of rock and ice, along with other particles to make up the ring. This is the moon. It was probably made from when the Earth was created, something hit the planet and a chunk was taken out of it and started orbiting the planet. And this is Mercury, another planet in the Solar System. The Roots of Knowledge show through beautiful art that math and religion and work together. It shows that science and belief don't have to be total opposites but combine to show the history of human nature from A to Z.
