Bay FC v FC Barcelona - Post-Match Interviews

um I think it's it's it's good for the marketing part it's good for for the world to also see what's going on um in America here the project going on here in the nwsl I think it was a good one we we've seen um a couple of teams as well played against each other like Chelsea and Arsenal playing against other team like Washington the other day and I think it was pretty interesting it was fun I was F it feels like I wasn't training it was fun like playing with my friends and you know as usual yeah you've got playing big moment bigger National what does a match like this do for the international profile for AFC going forward what does this do for the international profile for this club going forward playing against one of the top women clubs in the world I mean nothing really just the usual business as usual yeah your debut here in this uh friendly which is a a big match for this the franchise as a whole how special is to be a part of that super special I mean I think uh bringing the best uh women's soccer club um to the states and showing off you know uh just all that they they can do soccer wise is amazing I think you know we had an incredible um incredible crowd today 15,000 and um it was just awesome to be able to not only play against that experience that but also um just have the crowd be able to see just quality soccer and um I think you know there was some good things that we can take from the game and um you know ultimately it's it's all about Portland on Friday so um but it was a great experience and hopefully we can like keep doing this and to be playing in your backyard uh how what does it mean to be playing here for bayc it means everything um I think you know I said this in a video but I just there's it is very rare to be able to be a professional athlete and play in your hometown City where you grew up so uh I grew up at mow Park 20 minutes away and I just um can't can't express my gratitude and happiness enough and I'm just thankful to be here so um and thankful to represent such an amazing club that is just like pushing the standards for women's soccer after Chicago's game some we say this is one of the most important moments of this new club because you guys play Barcelona tonight yeah I think um I think any moment that we can step out on the field is like really important for this club I think you know it's it's uh our first year so um we're still you know there's there's still some things to to iron out but um you know I think just any time that we can get on the field together is important and to be able to play some good soccer and play against a really good quality opponent I think will get us ready for Friday and ultimately you know our goal is to be in the playoffs and um to to win as much as possible and that's the standard as a player how important this is this game is for you yeah I think this was extremely important for me personally just because um I just got in on Sunday and I had one practice with the team and um got put in but uh you know the girls have made it and the and the coaches have made it so easy and and seamless um so hopefully I was you know able to add and help the team in any way that I can and that's what I'm here to do and um to finish up and uh get into playoffs do you have much friends and family here today I did I had um my nieces my older brother um my dad um the whole family couldn't make it today but um um September 7th they will be here so um just really happy and uh not only family but a lot of friends too so what kind of reactions did you get from people in your life when they found out you're going to be back home yeah I am still replying to text so it's been awesome and I am just so thankful to have such amazing people in my life um but everyone is so happy and I think they know how much this means to you know me and um I just have amazing amazing memories here playing soccer and you know playing for NBL playing under um Aaron and albertine and so I'm just really happy to be here and excited to help this club in any way I can yeah um of course Capri stasa we go way back I think we met like when we were 12 or 13 at an ODP Camp um youth national team so we have known each other longer than we haven't so um yeah she's been incredible but you know even the the coaches the the girls on the team everyone's been awesome the group has such a great Vibe and um you know it's just made it really easy for me to come in here and try and help and make a difference cpri said in an interview a while ago that play with one player again it would be you how's it been being back reuniting with her just on a on a friend level incredible I think um you know uh friendship is a real one when uh nothing has changed um you know over some time so uh it's been awesome she's uh an incredible player um incredible person and I'm just so happy to to be able to do this with her is that onfield connection still there did it take a moment yeah yeah I think think you know it'll continue to to revamp and develop and um continue to develop and and whatnot but um it was just great to be able to get some uh you know minutes with um the group and to get out there and play in front of a an amazing crowd and just really thankful so um hopefully up from here you've joined a club that has a lot of international ambition that's kind of been talked about through the year you know talk about what this what a match like this does for um footage Club going for yeah I mean I think this is huge I think um the connection between um Bay and Barcelona and having this relationship and hopefully having them you know be able to to come out to to games um and you know continue to come out and and show just the quality that they they have and they can bring and you know the standard for women's football and it's it's evolving and it's growing and I think it's incredible for the Bay Area to you know have 15,000 come out and show show up on a Tuesday night I think is great and hopefully the crowd was entertained and there was a lot of goals so I think that's that's great for the neutral fan but um yeah I mean I think it's incredible and hopefully we can continue this um you know Bond uh with with Barcelona for you personally what does this fall on your soccer bucket list playing against B yeah you know I actually had played against them before in Champions League with City so home in the hometown yeah this this was awesome this was awesome no um I couldn't have like dreamed of a better you know debut for the bay and I it just feels like a dream it feels surreal but just again so thankful and and grateful to be here and just ready to to get going with um you know our league play and just taking it one one day at a time and um trusting the process and just continuing to get integrated with the the group when did you find out that this had come together and you yeah just happy happy um happy and grateful and you know I think uh I kept telling myself it was if it was meant to be it will happen and here I am so um just you know it was written in the stars and I just could not be more happy I feel like it's a full circle in life so um just really excited where's the first place you went when you came back um to our training grounds okay yeah so fresh off of playing straight to meet the team so it was awesome and yeah a lot of your teammates talk about uh influence ing the Next Generation and you being a Bay area native knowing that better than others just how special is it to be inspiring the Next Generation it means a lot um I remember growing up going to Gold Pride games watching albertine uh you know coach that team and to be able to play professionally for albertine on a professional women's soccer team here in the Bay is just like a complete full circle so um it's just feels it feels right um my heart is so full and I'm just so happy so yeah thanks guys and like looking to your side and seeing it was yeah pretty crazy I was kind of fangirling on the field trying to stay focused but just enjoying it too was so awesome how did it feel like did it feel any kind of uh the pace of the game did it feel different from what you're used to just on the field tactics or whatever that Chang yeah I think yeah definitely um College was honestly like a great preparation being at Stanford so the speed of play is definitely faster and everyone's super good but I think I was prepared and um just kind of trying to get my feet underneath me on this first game like get the nerves out of the way but I think moving forward too I'm really looking forward to just keep challenging myself and yeah it seems like this happened really quickly at least from our perspective the same for you yeah I started training with them like just about 3 weeks ago oh and then this opportunity came up with um savy going for the uh national team camp and so I was able to earn it and I'm super excited to get this chance for a little bit and hopefully longer how was it playing with Maya you guys play together it was so great it felt like home you know a familiar face yeah so that was so much fun have you guys been keeping up with the Stanford team nowadays oh yeah yeah we seen some games yeah we try to go every weekend we're here wonderful awesome so nice to meet you so nice to meet you to see after games too yeah thank you
