WITH LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT AS PART OF THE ONGOING INVESTIGATION. THE FUNERAL FOR HIRSH GOLDBERG-POLIN TOOK PLACE IN JERUSALEM THIS MORNING. THE CHICAGO NATIVE WAS ONE OF SEVERAL HOSTAGES TAKEN BY HAMAS WHO WERE FOUND DEAD OVER THE WEEKEND. TONY HAS MORE CONGREGATIONS ALL OVER THE CHICAGO AREA HAVE BEEN PRAYING FOR THE FAMILY OF HIRSH GOLDBERG-POLIN, WHO HAS FAMILY HERE. THE FUNERAL TOOK PLACE IN JERUSALEM, BUT THE FAMILY MADE IT AVAILABLE TO THE WORLD VIA LIVE STREAM. THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE LINED THE STREETS HOLDING FLAGS TO PAY RESPECT TO 23 YEAR OLD HIRSH GOLDBERG-POLIN, WHO WAS ONE OF SIX HOSTAGES FOUND IN A TUNNEL UNDER THE CITY OF RAFAH. AUTHORITIES SAID THEY WERE SHOT BEFORE ISRAELI FORCES COULD REACH THEM. HIRSH LOST AN ARM IN THE VIOLENCE OF OCTOBER SEVENTH. HE FOUGHT TO STAY ALIVE. MORE THAN 300 DAYS, HIS PARENTS KEPT THE FOCUS ON THEIR SON AND ALL THE HOSTAGES BEGGING FOR THEIR RELEASE. WHEN THEY SPOKE AT THE DEMOCRATIC NATIONAL CONVENTION IN CHICAGO LAST MONTH, THEY VOWED TO CONTINUE THE FIGHT. BUT FOR NOW, THEY ARE ENDURING A DIFFERENT TORMENT. OKAY, SWEET BOY, GO NOW ON YOUR JOURNEY. I HOPE IT'S AS GOOD AS THE TRIPS YOU DREAMED ABOUT. BECAUSE FINALLY, MY SWEET BOY. FINALLY, FINALLY, FINALLY, FINALLY. YOU'RE FREE. I WILL LOVE YOU. AND I WILL MISS YOU EVERY SINGLE DAY. FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE. NOW IS TO ENSURE THAT YOUR DEATH, THE DEATHS OF ALL THE SOLDIERS AND SO MANY INNOCENT CIVILIANS ARE NOT. NOT IN VAIN. YOUR STARTING POINT WOULD BE RETURNING ALL OF THE HOSTAGES FOR 330 DAYS. MAMA AND I SOUGHT THE PROVERBIAL STONE THAT WE COULD TURN OVER TO SAVE YOU. MAYBE, JUST MAYBE, YOUR DEATH IS THE STONE. THE FUEL THAT WILL BRING HOME THE REMAINING 101 HOSTAGES. HIRSH BECAME LIKE FAMILY TO MANY HERE IN CHICAGO. THE CONSULATE GENERAL OF ISRAEL TO THE MIDWEST ATTENDED A MEMORIAL IN HIGHLAND PARK YESTERDAY. HE SAID
