another movie review we're back it's what I want people to watch on my channel but people end up liking my ah bear with me here I'm plugging in on people seem to like my Prius related content and my lowbudget fast food fast food reviews the best speaking of food I'm wearing my Felipe french dip sandwiches Philips Filipe it's an LA institution Okay so today I'm sitting here in the Galaxy fear parking lot in lovely Riverbank California right on Highway 108 AKA Patterson Road and I was on my way to Target and then I thought it's the day after Christmas I'm going to go to the movies cuz I've been at home for two days straight enjoying laziness of the holidays so I stepped out much to the chrin of my wife as I left her home with the four wild and her rambunctious kids that I have and I have been inundated day after day every time I turn on social media or the television by ad campaigns for the Brendan Frasier comeback movie The Whale directed by Darren aronowski I apologize if I busher to his last name this is his most recent movie since 2017 he put out mother starring Javier bardam and Jennifer Lawrence which that movie I also saw in theaters and it did not resonate with me I liked how they built like this whole house in that movie and then they kind of just had various states of Decay and destruction but I just it wasn't for me it was weird I went in expecting something and it was something else so but we're not talking about that movie we are talking about the whale his most recent film Brendan Frasier's comeback movie now when I think of Brendan Frasier I grew up in the 9s the first movie that comes to my mind not the mummy but inom man is the movie that I remember renting and even maybe seeing in theaters at the AMC theater in Fullerton California as a kid where Paulie Shore and Sean Austin discover Brandon Frasier who was like a caveman when they were digging a pool in his backyard in Ino that's one of my favorite Brendan fras Frasier movies of yester year and then obviously you think of another 990s classic Tarzan Brendan Frasier one of my personal favorites that I recently rewatched and I have it on DVD is 1994's the Scout where he co-stars with Albert Brooks playing this guy that's scouted to the New York Yankees and in that movie you see his dramatic acting abilities I there's some poignant moments in the Scout even though only has a 25% Rotten Tomato score and it's not very well received by a lot of critics I really enjoy that movie and I think there's some P moments in that movie this movie also it's kind of polarizing on the critics Spectrum we're talking about the whale now obviously it stars Brendan Frasier as a obese guy engaging in self-destructive Behavior after his boyfriend dies once upon a time before he came out of the closet the character that is he was married and he had a daughter and he walked away for his gay lifestyle controversial is it though I don't know you tell me so the daughter is played by stie sink who I think of in The Stranger Things show she plays a semi teenage girl in that program as well she's great great acting chops in this film loved it loved Brendan Frasier I had crying my eyes out moments in movie and the whole movie is just kind of recorded in this dimly lit apartment and I think that was just intentional by the director and it was adapted from a 2012 play by Samuel D Hunter and the movie the way that it's acted and the way that the staging is the way that a lot of the scenes play out and the way that the actors stand it plays out like a play I that you could see that the essence of the movie based on that play kind of like this movie kind of to me felt like you were watching it in in a playright type of movie if that makes sense if you saw the movie and you kind of saw that play aspect of it how it was originally made for the theater let me know because to me it felt like a lot of that original aspect of the movie as a play shown through in this film also the director's use of the darkness and the clouds and the rain the whole time the main character had this Cloud hanging over his head as did his daughter and then at the very last spoiler alert maybe not really I don't know the very last scene in the movie the sh the sun shines through and there's just this release where the movie ends uh Rotten Tomatoes gave it 65% IMDb 8.2 out of 10 93% Google reviews liked it and you know what I on the up and up with this movie as well I really enjoyed this movie and I am going to give it a solid and rare five out of five so this movie is dedicated to my good friend Vince who really wanted to see this movie with me but he lives in Salt Lake City and I am here in the lowly Central Valley of California so we couldn't get together sat in a movie by myself watching this film and I enjoyed it I know that some people didn't like that he was wearing a fat suit but I thought the makeup and everything was awesome it felt very authentic you just see his real dramatic chops as an actor I'm looking forward and seeing brenon Fraser in the upcoming scors movie that I think he's going to be in and yeah get out there go back to the theaters the pandemic's over go to the movies so I have kind of lost a lot of my luster with going to the uh movie theater during the pandemic and I used to go to the theaters quite often and I really to get back into seeing good movies that I could pass on not just my VHS archives because of those aren't really the ones that people tune in to see I'm looking at my reviews not my reviews My Views and the more recent stuff people kind of are interested in the everyday person's perspective so there you go the whale 2022 go out and see it five out of five recommend it it's enjoyable heartfelt and it kind of had a very positive outcome as well and a very positive undertone so I like that too until next time we will see them
