DodgerHeads Live: Dodgers new closer, Clayton Kershaw showing promise, Kevin Kiermaier proving value

e one M [Applause] magic do have won at all High Fly ball into right field she is gone he struck him out two balls at a strike to count on Taylor Rees fires swinging a drive deep left fi this [Music] his Tay what's going on everyone my name is Scott gearan senior staff staff writer of Dodger blue.com this is managing editor Blake Williams my good buddy how we doing man pretty good had a bit of a day off today relaxed a bit uh went to get some lemonade if you want to talk about that a little bit so then had some golf at the range and it was good appreciate you guys all being here you know 200 head already up uh appreciate you joining us on a Sunday night uh he's you know Blake's referring to my daughter had a very sick successful uh Lemonade Stand she gets a lot of support there uh it's a very I've got a very ambitious eight-year-old uh and she's just the absolute best so I'm very thankful we got a lot of support a lot of support so uh thank you all for being here uh we're gonna you know get into a lot of stuff tonight again there's a ton to talk about uh since we last were on uh Blake kind of the weekend fell right in line what's up everybody F right in line uh to the patients that we were asking and I know I know everyone that since we talked it was tough to ask for patience in a time where you see the National League West kind of closing in on the Dodgers uh and and you know kind of you know getting right in line and with with all sites on first place in the division uh the Diamondbacks the Padres all playing well well guess what Diamondbacks just got swept since we last talked you know the Dodgers were able to keep a little bit of Separation three games up on the Padres four games up on the Diamondbacks now whole different vibe a little bit you think today Blake I think so I mean I think we talked about this a lot like we didn't expect the Diamondbacks and Padre's to keep playing at the level they were and we expected the Dodgers to start to even out when they got healthy and unfortunately the Dodgers have had some more injuries since we last talked with GL now and Freddy Freeman but they also have some guys coming back and they're playing solid baseball overall there's been some ups and downs but it's kind of how it goes especially with this year it seems like no team is really running away with every anything it's just like every team is kind of in that same area where they're good but going on a lot of losses and just been an interesting year in baseball and the Dodgers are kind of showing that at the front yeah absolutely so today's game uh Dodgers not much to talk about there no no big you know offense uh ho hum stuff uh two to one ball game Dodgers take that uh Bullpen gets a nice clean run side outside of uh you know Daniel Hudson uh we're gonna get into Clayton Kershaw uh and the Ageless wonder the the Surefire first ballot Hall of Famer um what did you like from Clayton Kershaw today I mean he just keeps defying our logic it seems like he he comes off shoulder surgery where you have to kind of temper your expectations for him and he started out a bit slowly but now he seems to be ramping things back up and getting back on track and we didn't expect him to be as effective as he was last year with his injuries then pitching through it it's just it's hard to like keep doubting him but also you do kind of have to question how long he's going to keep pitching like the way he is thring 88 with essentially one slider in his curveball it's he knows how to pitch which I think is helping him a lot that's been a good thing for him and he just kind of keeps defying everything we expect about him yeah I say know Blake there we go Kershaw praise hey it's good to see um so Kershaw's game today the lower his erra on the season to 263 uh as always Blake like Blake said he continues to defy time he continues to evolve himself and his uh repertoire and really how to induce soft contact while staying in the strike zone uh and this is something that I really looked into today uh with Clayton uh what's up everybody Godfrey hey guys welcome in uh we appreciate you joining in again take the time just take a couple seconds here hit ring the notification Bell like subscribe uh we appreciate you all being here um Twitter Facebook uh YouTube thank you so much for joining uh what I love today from Clayton is I I noticed a bunch about I mean it was hard to deny him come coming right after the strike zone and for a guy like Clayton 36 years old uh and when he's not right and when he's getting hit around which hasn't been for a bit now he's not in the strike zone he's not getting chases uh in the fine line of where you see having to stay in the strike zone to be successful but when his stuff is so good that's where he's got to live and that's where you can walk that line uh and if he gets banged it's because he's got to be in the strike zone and his stuff just isn't there that day but what I love today is he's starting to manipulate the shape of his slider and that's something where he doesn't have to have a deep repertoire of you know four five pitches that he's running out there he can stick to you know the fast ball keep man on the slider you know Hall of Fame curveball he's mixing in a you know change up splitter stuff and that's stuff that I noticed today that if he's not going to you know have that deep Arsenal he's just going to keep Force feeding this slider but now he's doing it with multiple different shapes it was just really interesting Blake yeah I mean that's what he's got to do he's got to keep evolving because yeah we know he's not gonna live off of the stuff of his fast ball his stuff just in general is probably about League average at best maybe a little above it I think his slider has carried that a lot and his curveball is still pretty good but he's not a guy where he's going to go out there like throwing his fast ball 60% of the time so you really do have to rely on the slider keeping it out of the Zone but close enough where hitters think they're gonna it's goingon to be a strike so they want to swing at it you kind of got to live on the edges a bit more but it's just it's really impressive because I don't think anyone could have expected him to come back and Pitch at this level so quickly after shoulder surgery I think both of us were kind of pessimistic about him coming back and seeing what he could actually do but it's it's been impressive so far yeah and you know chat making a lot of great points it's good to see you all fired up this is exactly you know the stuff we're D you know dissecting about Clayton uh and early on even Clayton you know he he from what we saw he didn't you know did he say he rushed back right a little bit like he was you know on a pretty Hasty schedule right Blake but he was feeling good all along the way uh and for Clayton someone who's so routine based having a a surgery like this in the off season uh and then coming back in right now um we're getting a Clayton Kershaw uh who's showing the ability to step on a big league Mound and have success right now uh and he's not just going out there and plugging away uh with hoping to see what works I really believe right now he's on a stretch and it's Fs in that I wanted to see five starts I know that you know he had some you know some iffy stuff in there but I wanted to see five starts to see how it was going just because of it's been multiple players multiple pitchers this year uh where the Dodgers have been tinkering with some things and I think that they just this Falls right in line I think he's working with some stuff now that he can go forward saying it's gonna be successful yeah I mean I think we always knew kersha was a smart pitcher and that's was the reason that gave us optimism for him we knew he'd keep working to adjust and changing things but also at the same time throughout his career he's also been a very stubborn pitcher so we did have questions about how much would he be willing to adjust how much would he be willing to change to get back on track and I think he's showing that he's much more accepting of criticism and things that he can change right now in his career because he knows he's not the same pitcher he used to be and he has to make those adjustments to be effective and he's really showing off that it's working they found the pitch mix and how to utilize all his pitches that is working for him and it's really good to see yeah absolutely our guys take take one second uh let me know let me know in the chat like Blake and I know do you believe Kershaw is back do you believe you know like what I see uh is this something that he's going to continue forward in the results like today uh because of how much he leans on that slider because it is so good do you think Clayton Kershaw has found that you think he's found a little bit of a run here where you know change manipulating the slider uh and how he's doing it keeping the fast ball in the zone this is what he's going to lean on you know let us know you know just yes no you need to see a little bit more that's what I want to see right now in chat U so for Clayton Kershaw and the questions regarding the rotation uh and how it's shaping out right now Tyler glass now there's definitely some question marks Yamamoto we still have to see Gavin stone is still working through kind of like a wall he's having to work past we're trending to the spot Blake where Clayton Kershaw is all all Collision Course for a postseason start yeah I uh I think he's earning it right now I think they don't have options to really say don't put him in there but I think that's the main point I still have some hesitancy about trusting him in the postseason I think a lot of times stuff in velocity plays up in the postseason we've seen that like guys like J Jen Ru comes to mind where he had his amazing season in 2018 and then kind of got hit around in the postseason a bit we've seen Kershaw has had his own struggles in the postseason it seems like the guys who just step up in October are the ones with Elite stuff that you can just kind of rely on have them go as hard as they can for as long as they can and it usually ends up working a little bit better than the Finesse pitchers and command guys so I'm still hesitant but maybe he'll change my mind in a few starts there and I'll really start to buy in but to say the least it's been encouraging what we've seen from kersha so far 100% buddy again guys you know any any big thoughts any questions you want us to stop answer toss in those super chats there uh Blake and I always appreciate those it lets everybody know that you know you're supporting us you're supporting dodger blue uh Blake and I we love hopping on here let's us you know take a couple hours out of the day to pause everything else hop in here talk in chat talk with every all you guys and just talk shop talk ball so we appreciate you toss those super chats in we'll stop what we're doing and I think it's again important just to emphasize that it's not always going to be perfect with Clayton because this stuff isn't always spectacular and because he lives in the low 90s with his four seam fastball and if the slider you know he can't work those multiple shapes of it it's not Landing where it wants to be it stuff's backing up on him um everybody's gonna have to be aware that it's going to be a work in progress and I saw somebody talk about how he's going to be successful against teams that don't see him as much and I think that there's a lot to that uh do you kind of agree with it I do I think we're going to see some more inconsist an outings from kersha like I think he's GNA have some starts where he's locked in and he's great like we saw today and I think some starts it's going to be more of a struggle with him and of course every pitcher goes through that but for me it just comes back to not having that Elite stuff the margin for error is just so much Slimmer for him so when he's not locked in it's GNA be a rougher day for him than it might be for someone like Tyler glass now who can kind of use his stuff to get out of it and maybe get some more swing and Miss from his curveball and just the quality of pitches he has so I think we're going to see a lot of really good outings from kersha I think we're going to see some ones where we're going to question how effective he is moving forward but sure at the end of the day as long as he's goingon to be a quality starting pitcher for the Dodgers that's kind of what they need right now and so far he's proving that he can do that couple good question or a couple good points in chat and stuff we can you know kind of piggyback on um Clinton Kershaw is the number four in the postseason if glass now real quick like with the stuff that's come out about Tyler glass now um 1 to 10 kind of what's your worry level there so I can frame my next part of this say like three and a half okay he seems very optimistic about it the Dodgers seem very optimistic about it Glow himself wanted to pitch and didn't want to go on the iil but they talked about it and said like this is probably for the best just to get some rest let's not push anything risk anything we've already had a ton of injuries so I'm not too worried about it but I mean pitcher arm injuries are always concerning to some degree so you have to have a little concern there at least especially where he's at sure so um you looking ahead you've got Tyler glass now at the top we're gonna say you know Jack flare right there Yamamoto depending on how they want to slot him in uh where would that be for you probably number two or was that would that be number three Yamamoto three just because he's only gonna pitch once per series and you can't bring him back then if he's too so you're starting out rotation with glass now you're going flarity Yamamoto and then Clayton Kershaw at the four totally fine I love that yeah and that for me that just from where they're at it would have been River Ryan would have pushed for that slot uh but from where Clayton Kershaw's at I think um I don't hate it he looked you know he looked solid today uh he had four whiffs on the day uh and I've got yeah Deuce thank you for this one right here this is a very good point because he's not getting whiffs he has just two punchouts on the day uh and with the Dodgers getting Tommy Edmond out here uh and we'll get into Kevin km a little bit later on I know some people are tuning in just for the chat about Kevin km later uh how much how important it is for the Dodgers to get Tommy Edmond out there the possibility of having Kevin kerm a solid everyday Defense Max Muny playing Third Base Freddy Freeman at first base Gavin Lux who's been terrific all year defensively at second uh and then you're getting an outfield that you have confidence in does that does that move the meter for you with with Clayton Kershaw on the mound with the team behind him I think it's helpful but I also think Kershaw if he's going to avoid the Home Run ball he's going to be generally pretty effective regardless seems like throughout the later part of his career and more recently the Home Run ball has been what's killed him in his starts so yeah I think of course the defense is always going to be able to help and especially not getting swing and Miss I do think there is something to that I think it can help out all their pitchers as well but for me if Kershaw can avoid the Home Run Bowl that's the main thing that we want to see out of him yeah so we got a super chat here from Ron thank you so much man for tuning in thanks for the two bucks he wants to know why pull him after just 70 pitches I would say it's probably hot and humid in St Louis in St Louis tough to pitch there um he's still building himself up I mean it's you kind of don't want to push him with all the injuries they've had like you have Tyler last now on the iil now they're hoping Yamamoto can come back I think they have 11 pitchers on the iil at this moment so it's better to be cautious especially with us now talking about him being in the postseason rotation instead of just needing him for the regular season yeah his last batter he gets Wilson contras to ground into a double play uh that's going to be right before the three spot in the order so right after that it would have been Tommy fam Nolan ronado Paul Goldman and if you're asking me if you're going to pull Clayton kers saw with a you know a solid start after throwing six shudy against a lineup that has primarily right-handers in it and you just give him a solid you know six Innings get out of there with a double play I'm totally fine with him at 70 pitches pulling him I know about you guys I know you see this the pitch count get him out of there you know get your bullpen in where you're going to go three straight um Force the Cardinals to go into take Tommy fam out they went to burlson uh and then you go righty righty and that was a good spot for Evan Phillips I like what they did today with the bullpen behind Clayton Kershaw I know Daniel Hudson allowed you know a solo shot big deal uh thankfully the Dodgers were up at that point uh but I thought that getting Clayton khaw out of there with 70 pitches six Innings four hits allowed walks one uh two strikeouts was a very solid move from Dave yeah yeah I agree especially with that part of the lineup do up you don't want kha facing fam and Aeron a and old Schmid that's setting him up for failure I think Dave did a good job there getting him out and going to the B pit it was good managing there I don't have any problem with that it's a good question here from Kira if this was the postseason uh looking ahead I know he has a you're probably building him up and you don't want to push him because his his last time out I think he threw 83 I know I might be somebody's gonna well actual me on that and and pull it up oh yeah 83 81 83 the last three starts um would they have pulled Clayton Kershaw out in the postseason in that spot I think so yeah I I don't have any doubts that they would have that's without a doubt that's uh setting herself up for failure if you leave them in that's that's a fireable move if you leave them in in the postseason coming up to face that part of the lineup there especially with those three hitters the Cardinals haven't been great this year but they've been good versus lefties and especially those three Aeron a and buid have been Dodger Killers throughout their career so yeah you just don't mess with that you don't mess with the seventh inning in uh Bush Stadium that's what we know you just don't do that right guys we're at all against the Cardinals because they did some of those comeb back STD Stadium too yes so and and they they've got a solid you know run of right-handed hitters there so this is a very plus day uh for Clayton Kershaw uh the agees Wonder 36y old continu to continuing to evolve uh and I really love what I saw it provides the Dodgers with I would say health health willing uh an option that they can get through the regular season there uh and it's all about just setting up the post it's all about just looking ahead towards October uh and finding out where you can kind of slot these starting pitchers and avoid a disaster like they had you know last year in the first round against the Arizona Diamondbacks so for Clayton Kershaw to be in that mix um when they if and when they get to that point uh I think that you know Clay Kershaw he's in the discussion now I don't I like what he did today he's not just going out and doing the same old stuff I'm very happy that he's going out they're working with the staff pitching staff he's working on Evol evolving his stuff using what he knows is great uh in changing it up so it doesn't have the same look you Su because you've seen some teams at times and I saw people talking about it in chat uh when you're looking for it when you're sitting fast ball when you can just spit on that slider uh it's bad news then you have to live and die by the for seam but when he's you know staying within the strike zone sure he's going to get hit a few times you're get to see some solo shots but as long as he's staying in there he's gonna Force hitters to have bad contact and I saw somebody talk about um I think it was uh rud Street brought up that uh they were being aggressive and that's fine as long as you're giving them a different look you're giving opposing lineups a different look and Dave Roberts being just like Blake says he wants to be pull him a little bit too early and too late and we all want to see that so I thought today for Dave to get him out before that next turn through the lineup was a perfect thing for Clayton Kershaw positive bump uh get him on to the next one uh and then we'll go from there I think we're going to roll into the you know the man of it we all want to talk about we're going to copc right um Let me throw this one up real quick just because go ahead from uh David free you know Cardinal related got a Dodger and Cardinal Legend right there has anyone tried the Korean Fried Chicken bucket I don't believe any of us have a Dodger hits but our friend Eric Steven with true blue La did try it and I think he said it was pretty good probably overpriced a bit but that's to be expected at Dodger Stadium I believe he said the sauce was really good good they didn't give much chicken a lot of fries so might be worth trying it but you could also pass on DOD your Stadium food just to begin with this dude brought up food 21 minutes in nuts get out I'm just answering questions from the viewers get them out of here Richard what's up man thank you for being here we appreciate you being here on Sunday um Walker buer and Bobby Miller are burden this late in the season agreed uh starting them is a strain in the bullpen and can't afford to be giving away games it's a tough It's a not it's a tough question answer just because you know again thanks for the question thanks for a Super Chat Richard it's a tough thing to answer because of the need to feel Innings the need to just I know it's just to say to have somebody out there why can't they you know get somebody else but somebody's got to pitch those early parts of the game and you have to do something and you have to rely on and hope that they give you enough that you don't have to burn your Bullpen out any more than it already is so the results might not be good you just have to hope that you know you really have to hope that the offense does enough to keep them in the ball game uh and they tried they damn tried um but yeah it's it's a at this point in the season to have some experimental stuff you'd think it's a little bit too late so I definitely do agree with you Richard yeah I agree my push back would be they don't really have other options at this point like Landon Knack and Justin reesy both can't come back until the end of August unless they're replacing an injured player due to MLB roster moves so they're out of the equation right now and if you look at the rest of their 40 man roster I don't think anyone healthy on it that isn't already on the for the 26-man roster has any experience starting so they're just not really in a good spot to be picky about who's starting for them until they start to get healthy again get glass now and Yamamoto back yeah Richard thank you so much but GI you know again yeah Miller's velocity was there but zero command and that's a difficult thing for me to see just because when he faced the Cardinals I know they kept showing highlights of uh Bobby Miller against the Cardinals in his rookie season uh and I it was like man where is this right now you he gave up the you know the RBI knock to Wilson conteras um and it's just hanger stuff he has no idea like the metrics on his change up are solid but he's got no idea where things are going no feel for it uh you don't have to give me a Sol answer uh but just because I know the Dodgers still believe in what Bobby Miller has bu's kind of on that way out um looking ahead for Bobby I know command has to change but is this something that's a quick fix you think or this is something that they're just gonna have to keep him stash him in Triple A and and wait till that comes to time I think more the latter I think this is a move where he kind of needs to reset himself in the offseason Maybe just stop thinking about baseball for a month or two and then kind of fix his issues and build back up again whatever it is whether it's mental or mechanics or something I don't think the major league level is the right spot to be fixing it and to their credit Dave Roberts pretty much said the same thing it was just he basically said he's up here because we have no one else and that's how it is he he needs to keep working on things and it's Performance Based but sure we don't have any other options so they're kind of in a tough spot and I'm losing Hope on Bobby Miller figuring it out this year I would uh probably take the no on that one if I had to pick but I still have more belief in him long term and I think the offseason might help him get back on track like we've seen pitchers kind of turn their Years Around in from one year to the next like Gavin Stone was guy and now he's been one of their most important pitchers this year like I think there's a lot of value in the offseason getting away from baseball and then kind of starting fresh again can be helpful for players for sure yeah we both kind of we look at the stuff and we see when the T when you know his stuff looks terrific uh we believe there's a lot in there I just want to pause give a quick shout out to the thousand in here across all platforms you know Twitter Facebook YouTube We Appreciate You all being here uh supporting dodgea blue we do our best to bring you the absolute best uh you know news breaking stuff the best we can uh commentary and just hanging out chilling with Blake Blake and I yeah we we talk and ball and and preach into the masses all right we got a lot of super chats to get to we appreciate you guys joining in we're GNA start with John with Copic as our closer he's teasing a section here we can get into that uh Dodgers have a good mix and match for the sixth seventh and eighth Innings if our starters can pitch five innings in the postseason I think it's a stretch to say to just pitch five innings and then turn it over to the pen there I would like to see a little bit more and shorten the game as much as possible uh but for where they're at right before we hopped on Blake and I I I tossed to Blake and I said I Lov what they've done with Evan Phillips I love the fact uh and Blake pinpointed it too he said I want to keep him up keep him up in the big leagues and let him figure it out there and I love that they've pulled him from that main slot in the ninth or at the back end and eased his way in to some plus matchups and keep that consistency going keep those positives because it's better when you have those pluses you keep stacking those good outings while working on those things if he goes two righties in a lefty and he gets those two righties and then goes to the Lefty great so I love it there um to a first part uh do you completely agree with the good mix and match because they have been they have been really overworked uh but when it's good they've got a great run of arms I agree I think the bullpen has definitely been a strength of this team and obviously we've seen them have their down stretches but that's going to happen to any group in baseball no matter what group of relievers you put in the bullpen they're going to blow games and they're going to have some stretches where you're wishing you had different relievers but overall it's been a strength of the team they have a lot of quality arms in there and I know Joe Kelly can sometimes make us feel a little worried that he's gonna come in and blow the game or Evan Phillips facing a lefty can be a little worrisome Alex vessia is good as he's been like I think so a lot of people still have some worries about him as well like but overall it's been a really good group and they're better than I think a lot of people do give them credit for and they do have a lot of different options to mix match and it should prove to be valuable in the postseason absolutely and John like the good thing to look ahead to as well um aside from copc uh all things pointing to bruar not being out for a very extended period of time that's a plus thing uh Blake Tran I believe you know Fab Fabian ardia said that Blake trinon is gonna be activated on Tuesday is that correct I believe so he did say that and uh try and it he's gonna be back I think it definitely leaned a little more Phantom than anything else so yeah not too worried about him at all yeah so they've got options they've got veteran options and that was at the beginning of the season I said I love the news uh yeah bees we just yeah grat ral's got all good stuff I loved uh the collection of arms that they had it was just about managing them correctly getting them down the stretch uh in the word you know workload uh is something that made me go dang you know they're they it's just the starting pitching didn't match up those things got to work in Tandem and when the starting pitching isn't doing their job then that's when the bullpen gets a little bit shaky and then you saw them take a step back and that's when the DFA guys had to come in uh and really carry the load a little bit in those garbage Innings and then games got a little bit ugly uh but I really do think aside from Joe Kelly um I think I love I love the bullpen mix that they have there um we can roll in right into Blake TR or not Blake TR Michael copc guys but I want to get to the super chats real fast so John sit tight uh we're going to get right back to that um Lis the Cardinal series was all right the brewery series wasn't great Bullpen wasn't good and the defense was terrible yeah that happens I mean yeah I don't think anyone on the Dodgers is making excuses for how they played those final two games against the Brewers the defense was definitely terrible the bullpen had their struggles but to their credit it was mainly Daniel Hudson that was the reason for the struggles something you can kind of just move past it happens not too worried about them overall I do agree that the bullpen problems have been from overworked more than anything but yeah it was good to see them get back and I think win two games against the Cardinals there so they definitely needed it they need to keep winning because the NL West is actually a race now and I don't think many of us expected that to happen but it has and that's where we are so just got to keep playing good baseball and winning and with guys coming back here soon it should be better for them and it's the factor is that we you know we encouraged everyone to sit tight um that it's it's a crunchtime spot where the Dodgers are getting impact players at this time they're getting plus news that they haven't received all year about like you know guys like Yamamoto you know you're you're getting plus news when glass now stuff initially broke we all panicked and I was just like you know thank you fans put that out there that if he was done for an extended period of time that's a huge loss to the you know front end of the rotation uh and then even that's plus news so guys there might be some positive positive Juju around the team right now Clayton Kershaw tosses a gem uh things are looking good in that sense you're getting impact guys back with Muny Tommy Edmund they' both been playing uh terrific in the rehab stuff all Health all green signs let's just sit back ride the wave um and and Diamondback's gotta play Padre's have to play Diamond Back Scott's wept dodg just keeping their distance there uh it's tough at this point of the season when you don't have this massive lead to ask for patience and to wait for it sometimes it's what you got to do ball don't lie confrey are you guys worried about the pitching moving forward I'm trying to stay positive but it's hard to stay positive kick it off buddy yes and no I'm worried about the health if they're healthy I have no worries at all but as we've seen Health has been their biggest issue this year if they go into the postseason with glass now flarity Yamamoto is their top three and figure out the rest I think they're going to be in a good spot regardless if they're missing any of them and I have some more questions we'll see how the bullpen is down in October but I think overall they have some good options and a good mix they can use and I think the Dodgers are pretty good at figuring out their post season pitching options aside from last year which I continuously say was an outlier for them that they're kind of punting the season a bit to focus on this year with Otani amoto so I think I'm cautiously optimistic it's okay it's okay to be there that's fine I think that from the the ability for the Dodgers training staff to hit us with news anytime that a player and Dave Roberts come out and say he's not going to be out for long and then he's out for a long time and then a player is gonna be out for a long time and then he's only out for a little bit we just never know we just absolutely never know so staying right in the middle with in terms of health is okay because the Dodgers do that to us they tug on the heartstrings that things are going to be good things are going to be bad you just kind of never know until the news breaks after the MRI uh results are given to Dave Roberts and then he has to come clean tell us Dave don't do this to us so I've we've all learned that Dave Roberts is gonna say immediately uh the opposite and then we just have to wait till the next day till the MRI results come in and then we kind of know the truth there it's kind of becoming a meme unfortunately it has to come with you know Health news which is not funny to talk about I think the biggest reason to be positive is Yamamoto is making a lot of progress and he should begin throwing the hitter soon and then potentially going on a rehab and where does that put him where does that put Yamamoto at TimeWise like how you know buildup like where does he that put him on his on buildup wise because I think that's a a very interesting question uh because if he has to go to a couple more um bullpens a couple more Sim games whichever how much time is he going to have before October uh to build up to a full workload if he does he even have time I think middle of September to late September is kind of his estimated return time with how things are shaping out which would maybe give them one to three starts or somewhere around there which I think if yamamoto's healthy and able to start they're gonna start him regardless of like where how many starts he's made in the regular season so I am pretty optimistic there and then the other reason is Tyler glass now keeps insisting that his health thing isn't anything major and he wanted to keep pitching through it so like I think there's reason for positive there and we just gotta be patient yeah Matty man I totally agree you know having Yamamoto in the rotation aside from just being another topend arm um it's about just being able to fill a rotation that you feel confident in that's going to give your offense a chance to stay in a ball game because if that happens and they're able to keep Yamamoto on his you know his schedule of pitching one time uh I think it's Paramount uh and I think Yamoto just threw in his most re in in Bush Stadium uh was it Friday that he threw was it 17 pitches and that was it so 17 pitches but it was really hot out there like it was that yeah that's why they pulled that's why they shut that down it was just incredibly hot uh so I know people you know were worried about him only throwing 17 pitches it was just he looked fine he looked good it was just really hot yeah so he did begin throwing the hitters I misspoke there but he has more to go and then rehab assignment after that so there's reason to be positive there so it's good yeah good to look ahead that you know to what Blake said to get a rough timeline and how much run will he have before uh the postseason to getting him to a good comfortable spot and I think for me and I think for everybody watching listening uh that's a comfortable thing for he to hear uh that the Dodgers could get you know Big Time number three option there and solidify that one two3 with Clay Kershaw in the four slot because you know he's earning it let's just keep Yamamoto all plus news uh in the and for a front office as skittish as they are with a contract like Yamamoto um I think that by them just continuing this it just it gives you more optimism from where there's they see his health at and how much they believe he'll be back all right well Jake guess what right now young Blake keep it a bug please does Kier make the postseason roster thank you so much for the Super Chat Blake yeah I think he does I think they went out and got him for a reason I don't think they just traded for him to trade for him so I think he has a clear role on this team and I think they're gonna kind of stick with that give me more I mean the defense is incredible he's actually hitting a bit which I think has been the most shocking thing we all knew his defense is going to be great that's who Kevin km is he's one of the best defenders of all time and the bad has always been the biggest question but since he's come to the Dodgers he said he feels rejuvenated he's questioned retirement which he said he was gonna retire after the year and he seems like a different player so with Kier Meer you don't even need him to be a good hitter you just need him to not be awful and that's all you need from him and he's gonna be a fantastic player for the team and he's showing he's better than awful he's showing he's a solid hitter right now for the Dodgers I don't know how consistent that's going to be or if it's going to last I I do have some doubts because the track record is pretty loud there but as long as he's like a 70 weighted runs created plus guy which is about 20% better than where he's been throughout the year like that's a great player to have on this team and I think the debate I'm seeing it in chat we're talking about you know the idea of Jason Hayward versus Kevin km uh and kind of the battle there and their spot on the road on the roster looking ahead do you think it there's more factors in it uh than just between those two I think PES is gonna factor into that as well I think the main thing for me is if muki's playing right field on a pretty much everyday basis that takes out Kevin km or that takes out Jason Hayward as an option because he's pretty much a right fielder only so Kevin km plays a much cleaner fit with this team he's a center fielder which Heyward isn't if mook's locked into right field then it seems pretty clear which way they're gonna go roster wise there same thing with Andy pus like he could be a guy who's optioned tomorrow because there's just less room for him on the roster if Edmund's going to be the primary center fielder and mix in at Short Stop and second base well that leaves K Meer has a great backup there yeah I I just don't see what Hayward really provides to this team right now value-wise like you don't really want him pinch hitting he's not gonna replace Muki often in right field like I just don't really see any reason to keep Hayward over Kier Meer and I'm something I looked up with Jason Hayward and I know a lot of people what's up David good to have you in man um and I know a lot of people site his leadership and I know the Dodgers are big on that and if that's the reason why they keep Jason Hayward around that's a front office thing that's a clubhouse thing a Dave Roberts thing and and a cohesion thing uh and we can't debate that we could look at you know talk about meaningfulness to the roster and where he slots in his stuff against right-handed pitching and how bad he's been doesn't matter um him having since July against right-handed pitches he's at a 42 WRC plus and he doesn't play center field he does he plays a corner Outfield position uh and he hasn't shown up in plus spots where they're going to use him down the stretch uh in 61 plate appearances Jason hayward's got a 502 Ops since July 1 against right-handed pitching so it's definitely not because his performance is worthy of keeping him with the team if he stays on the roster it is purely because of leadership uh what they see him with the front like Clubhouse wise uh and that's something that we can't debate like we can't like convince the front office otherwise I would disagree with them and and say that if km provides you know Platinum glove center field he's making gamechanging plays which we've seen it in the last week two weeks since he's been with the team he's had some upside offense and that's all you really need to tip the scale for me um and that's where my thing stands dfang Kevin Kier Meer and keeping Jason Hayward if that's the role it's going to be would be a big mistake because I already saw somebody talk about it in the I think it was noisy Ninja Defense in the postseason changes game so does offense but if you're saying Jason hayward's offense is a reason why you're getting rid of Kevin Kier Meer not gonna work for me that's where I kind of stand on the debate between the two so keeping Jason Hayward around and saying it's okay um because his offense is there it's not going to work yeah I would need to see way more I think Kevin km provides so much more value off for what he provides because Kik has been solid against righties Gavin Lux has been great um Andy P has been terrific as of late I think that there's enough options with the team that they can put Kevin km in center field when they want to late game defensive he's the best defensive center fielder best defensive outfielder on the team not just of the team I would say of the last two decades maybe yeah absolutely he's that good I think what you said he's already changed the games for Dodgers and basically won them games like when was the last time we can really say Jason Hayward won the Dodgers a game with his play I think Kevin km has done that more often in the two weeks he's been with the club then Jason Hayward is done for the entire season you saying glove wise or bat because the one that I would say is just the game the game in game in Colorado uh and I thought that was gonna spark a run for Jason Hayward just because of the ATB quality there but it hasn't happened he hasn't done a thing for the last two months it just he's done virtually nothing I'm gonna use Jeff sing about Freeman nothing nothing nothing he hasn't done anything like we're talking like a 109 ISO like zero dude like this is stuff where it gets it gets you DFA like for a run like that like with the contract that Jason award has all things considered it's it's in the territory where we were talking down on you know other guys like it's a bad that's a bad run that's not a platoon player if it's leadership stuff come on man he's not performing like David freeze like that's a leadership bat like that's a leadership type guy that's a veteran role player that you keep in because he's performing yeah ground ball to second highest highest ground ball rate in the last like 10 years for Jason Heber are right at the top hard ground balls to two it's all he's been doing man pull side there's not enough there for me yeah and my problem with the leadership thing is you have Dave Roberts as your manager that's like the whole point of having Dave Roberts as your manager he's gonna be a good leader for the clubhouse and keep the team in check and kind of focused and all that sort of stuff like Dave Roberts is the clubhouse guy for the team I don't think you need to go and have 10 other backup Clubhouse guys on your roster and it's not like mooki vets show he Otani Freddy Freeman all the players on this team aren't guys who need to be held accountable held in check like we saw with the Padres they kind of needed that with Fernando tatis and Manny Machado but this team doesn't need that kind of player they are all pretty much veteran players Freeman has placed a big emphasis on having good Clubhouse guys so you don't need a veteran leader Clubhouse guy on a team that's all veteran leader Clubhouse players already to begin with I love it man spitting Blake spitting tonight chat you guys are dialed in on this I'm glad yeah 10 other Clubhouse guys I'm glad you're you know right in line with where we see it the Dodgers love this stuff they love these they love these Clubhouse guys they love the leaders that they talk about like speaking facts man they just they have a knack for you know these concrete pillars that if they say they're meaningful to the clubhous that's what they do and we can we can push back on it and I will certainly uh but I would hate to see a a guy like Kevin kermier who's been a perennial force in the Outfield defensively and to what Kira said positive stuff yields positive results and that's they the Dodgers do this and we've seen it across sport when you've got confidence playing out there it it it breeds success so Jason hayward's not doing it on that front I want a guy who's playing well if he's been terrific with the glove making impact stuff there we're gonna see some upside we're gonna we're gonna see some upside there and I think it would be you know a little bit irresponsible uh to just say nope hayward's sticking on the team because of the leadership uh and that's just how it's going to go um I think that Kevin km's got to be with the team man I think he's got to be with the team if this is is his last run in B counts he's going to retire DFA him for Jason Hayward just because he just doesn't last year was such a fluke for Jason Hayward man like hitting fast balls at a at a career-high clip this year he's seeing even more fast balls with none of that success so it's not like he's having some had some Revelation he was just teeing off on the fast balls he was one of the best fastball hitters in Major League Baseball last year uh and this year he's not doing it so unless we see some complete turnaround if you're saying you're left-handed bat in the Outfield is Jason Hayward going down the stretch to the post I want a guy that's going to provide you with some upside Big Time upside gloveway um with what we can see yeah here Hayward I check um I would I would want to take the glove with the upside bat over someone who's just to be there for the bat not putting it together um any last thoughts on the on the battle I would say it's the battle between them I don't think it's anybody else I do think there might be a chance that p is just the guy that's option just because it's cleaner they don't have to DFA anyone they can keep all their depth around sure so I wouldn't totally rule that out which is cool yeah I I do think we haven't given enough credit to Jason hayward's defense because he is a really good Defender out there so to be fair to Jason Hayward he's a good Defender my main issue with him is he's a right fielder instead of a center fielder and you have your corner Outfield spots locked down with Muki and T Oscar so really it's it's center field that's the one that can be open Tommy Edmond's going to be your starter out there but when he slides in to play the infield center field is going to be the spot that's open so it's just don't want pz in center field yeah so it just makes more sense to me to keep km around on just all the logical side of things and I do think the front office will come to that conclusion maybe they keep Hayward and Kier me round and DFA Amed or something like that which I might be a little more surprised with but with Tommy Edmund and ke K having ver ility could be a possibility so we'll see what they end up going with but if we're talking about just K me and Hayward I'm definitely taking the Kier Meer side of things 100% all right we're gonna roll some through some of these here you know creno thank you so much we appreciate the $4 thanks for the Super Chat super sticker thank you man we appreciate it um Blake and I love just sticker super super sticker man you SE I don't think we've got a super sticker before I don't know but I like it I'm in I'm in I'm in all right yeah we got a couple here 300 ct3 Kik Austin Barnes and Hayward are Clubhouse guys I think what it what does that tell you I got a lot of them they've got a lot of them think be okay would Roos yeah Roos Freddy Freeman Will Smith mooki the exact and Roos man they have a their entire team is clubhous guys I don't think anyone in that Clubhouse is a guy you really have to worry about being an issue or anything we've got one of the oldest teams in the league they're all veteran leaders they've yeah yeah so I just don't buy into any of that Clubhouse stuff when that's their entire team yeah they've all been there done that they've been to the postseason they've all had their ups and downs they've seen the darkest spots of the Major League Baseball and battled their way back and guess what they're playing against one of like pushing against one of the best records in Major League Baseball on a season where any other franchise if you sustained the injuries that the Dodgers have had it'd be nowhere like this but they're in a very fortunate spot because of the talent guess what all veteran leaders all veteran guys who have been there done that and they're heading into a pivotal spot where it's a roster Crunch and to say we're going to keep a guy who's been underperforming in the job that he's was signed on a very solid contract I got to pull it up again on a one-year $9 million contract for Jason Hayward who has not lived up to that you're going to say he's going to stick for that for Clubhouse leader yeah doesn't pass the test for me yeah I don't see that really happening either I think and if they do we can't be surprised either and if they do we can't be surprised either because that's just right up the Dodgers alley and we'll just have to shrug our shoulders live with it uh and Kevin kerm hopefully if it leads to that will receive his ring and I just it was wish it was him you know catching the last out if we get to that point but uh I'll be bummed if it's him glad we're glad glad chat's having this I know I know a lot of people had hit me up about it a ton honestly it's been a it's been a big time talked about things here uh John agree with you Scott but some colleagues about Kevin kerm um are you talking about like you know other people have different opinions that might be it um I'm not sure I haven't been tuned in somebody fill me in and chat there on that stuff I know Blake and I Blake and I we talk all the time and we love we've loved Kevin km for you know a lot of years um since the World Series so he's you know even before that defense is something that's like especially Premier center field defense uh like looking around the league guys like Dalton varo love watching them you go out there and they can they can go and get it uh that's tough to find and that's interesting stuff it's fun things it's why the only thing that James Alman did very well this year was have big time plays in the Outfield you know make some of those eye like catchy plays defense plays um and now a team like this earlier in the year I would have hated it I would have been giving Kevin km same type of criticism look you're giving us a big time glove out there you're make you're saving runs but the offense but the offense is something that leaves a lot to be desired now for a team that getting Muny back Tommy Edmond uh muki's back looks good and you know shotani is still slugging now it's a spot where you can say we've got Premier defense at Short center field I think this is a time where you can you can AF it's not even affording to have a guy like Kevin km it's your fortunate to have a guy like Kevin km yeah I think there's something to that I would push back a bit on the offensive side of things being critical of that because run prevention is also a way to win ball games it doesn't just have to be run scoring if you can prevent a run in a game take away a run from the opposing team that can win you a ball game so I do think that is really valuable and I think with some players like early in the year Kevin bigio he wasn't playing good defense he wasn't hitting it like that's a guy you criticize he's not helping you win I think K Hernandez earlier in the year he had some defensive struggles he obviously wasn't hitting at all hopefully he's got that figured out with the glasses now but like none of these guys are comparable to the defense Kevin km brings it's a lot like Miguel roas last year where you take what you get with the offense but you know you have an elite Defender at a premier position and there's real value in that so I think the Dodgers see that I think that's why they were the team who went and got him and not any other team I think even with adding Tommy Edmond and having other guys in the Outfield they still went and saw value and K Meer so I don't think they're just going to give that away for anything I don't think they're gonna DFA that I will be very surprised if they do I agree man and I and it it just it's another spot a roster crunch thing where talking about and you know Javier you need to have the best players so I totally agree I wanted to toss that up there um the conversation with you know guys like Ahmed Rosario uh the roster crunch there it would be nice to have him but I see the reason why they got they you know they got him off the roster I do I would have loved for him to be up here over Nick Amed but even then Nick amed's gonna have his time where he's off the roster so the roster crunch would have happened somewhere you know what I mean he still would have kept Rari over guys like some way I know I I think he had value to this team yeah I know we both like we both like the profile that he brought to the table D didn't have big time splits Sample versus right-handers was outweighed his stuff against lefties Dodgers don't like them man they just I want to know maybe uh maybe ammed Rosario didn't like Dave Roberts's wine might be it he's not a red Stitch fan I think could be that could be that did we put this one up yeah we did all right uh Noah thank you so much man it's good to see you tonight thanks for the $2 Kevin km throwing out a player from center field in the World Series would be fire that would feed Generations wouldn't it Blake how about K robbing a homer I think that would also be a lot of fun in the 2020 run mooki and Bellinger robbing homers in the playoffs was huge for them so yes I think Kevin K is best equipped to do that this year so let's see uh how about both throwing out a runner and robbing a homer for sure here we go 300 thank you so much man you my real two concerns are Freddy's finger not just being a small aisle and glass now's elbow being more than just skipping a few starts is 300 let me know real quick are those your how many concerns do you have aside from that or are those your only two left where are you at on both of those then Blake are you we we talked about Panic you know your level on glass now uh we haven't talked about Freddy uh where are you kind of at on Freddy or we don't know yet nothing's broken or anything in there so I think it is just a jam and that can hurt so I think that's just kind of what he's dealing with wouldn't shock me if they put him on the iil for the 10day stint and back dat it to what was it the 16th that he got hurt so that's two days so then you're essentially don't have him for a week and I think that's a realistic outcome there not too concerned about him a little more concerned about glass now but he keeps saying he's healthy he didn't want to go on the I it was more of just a rest being cautious thing so I don't really have any real reason to be concerned about any of them at the moment but we also know with Dodger injury history that that can change real quick and tomorrow we could hear glass now is having Tommy John or something and that's just how it always goes with the Dodgers so there's reason for concern but I don't think we should really be that concerned at this moment absolutely shout out to Bob Nale I am old enough to remember that movie and yes I agree with you uh John followup uh Scott was some of your colleagues in the last week oh I think it's Friday I think you're talking about uh when Jeff and Anthony had the conversation I did I didn't I didn't watch it I know somebody brought it up to me somebody DM me bringing it up I I didn't actually double back to watch it I didn't know it got to the Got Deep about that um but I think somebody said in chat I think Casey said that Jeff changed his tune I mean we we laid out both reasons to think either way um but Blake and I side on the you know the elite glove that Kevin km has and that's what we like to you know hinge our thing on um you know what Kevin km can do in center field absolutely you know outweighs what Jason Hayward has given us at the plate uh and it's it's like a delight it's like a delight when we s see Kevin km do something offensively you know it's it's when you walk into the doughnut shop and you get a there's nice fresh maple bars and you only expected to get something that you you're like they're not going to have them at this point but they're there it's cool so Kevin km is going to give us a nice solid defensive glove in center field buddy but when he steps in there and he gets a hanger and he bangs it just a little cherry on top you know why do you go to the maple bars so you can name like any doughnut you go to Maple bar like the chocolate chip Donuts so good don't don't don't miss my point you're getting caught up on the wrong thing no I'm getting caught up on the right thing here again shout out to the third almost you know almost 13 13300 people in here across all platforms we appreciate you uh tuning in on Sunday night joining Blake and I uh don't forget hit the like subscribe notification Bell um we are off the rails we had an entire yeah rud Street mayle Bar's Elite don't let Blake hate uh we had a whole rundown uh but we're weighing it now so we appreciate I Blake kind of likes to stay on task I don't you know let's let's deviate I'm good with whatever the chat wants like uh I like that do I enjoy making the chat nervous no I'm just trying to prepare you for the Poss outcomes that the Dodgers might face you know like he is the he is that cold bucket of water he'll just he'll be like n man you think this is great nope like I don't think last now is seriously hurt but if Dave Roberts comes out to Mar and says he's out for the season are any of us gonna be shocked about it I don't think so like would you be shocked yeah no I am that's just that's just how things go with the Dodgers so I think there's always a little reason to be uh concerned with injuries when they're talking about them Deuce we always tell the truth man like like what's the reason to sugarcoat any of it there's no reason to do any of that like if somebody if there's a a player that's not performing up to it I'm gonna say they need to do something I'm gonna say it's not fit in the bill you're you're playing for the Los Angeles Dodgers like you need to perform you're very players like Gavin Lux who have such a long Runway and I I saw somebody early in the show talk about what's my tune on Gavin Lux like Gavin Lux underperformed for over like half the year over half the year uh and had to make drastic swing changes mental approach stuff to get to a point where now he's one of the guys so he had to unlock some things that were in there and he wasn't doing it and on a team that if all things considered if he was like the weak link the last week link he might not have had that opportunity so multiple factors had a click right for Gavin luxs so yeah I don't I'm not afraid to tell the truth who cares who cares man all right I want to talk copc let's not you know let's not Dodge this I appreciate all the super chats if you do it again I'm cool deviating from the from the topic but I want to talk copc and I know a lot of people do as well um since copc has been with the team uh two for two and save opportunities he's got four holds 13 strikeouts uh that fast ball is real he's got some of the best stuff I've ever seen you know in the last few years um seventh highest spin rate uh on his four seam fastball average and what I've noticed too is since he's been with the Dodgers he's increased his cutter usage a bit uh and it falls in line right with his SL his uh fast ball his slider in terms of stuff uh and his cutter is ridiculous are we trending towards now we've talked about it earlier are we trending towards the land that Michael copc is the closer I think so I think it's still G to be a situation where in the past where Dave Roberts will use the closer in the biggest spot of the game if it's the e standing against the top of the lineup I think that's the spot Copic is going to be in but I think he is definitely the highest leverage guy on the team right now and he's earning that there's no reason against him to say like maybe he shouldn't be closing or anything like that I think the team is GNA be at their best with a more set ninth inning type guy I do like the closer by Committee in general but it does help lay out the path a little bit easier when you kind of know that ninth inning is going to be locked down a bit so I mean he's earning it and it's another Dodger success story it's looking like and they have another year of control on him after this so major fredman trade win there we push back on this don't we Copeg taking the closer rules proof the bullpen sucks I think that that just means the white socks are just terrible at understanding the talent or developing the talent and putting you know how can you pitch in a bullpen where you're always behind like I mean they just you see the usage changing a bit his stuff's playing way up uh he clearly wants to be you know in a position where he can change games uh I think it's just he's so good that's why he's you know trending in that direction right yeah I mean his stuff is Elite it's up there with like Mason Miller at the top of baseball he's a guy that players have trouble hitting when he's coming into the strike zone his main issue has been his command throughout his career but he seems to have figured that out a little bit more and like he's out there just he's a dog like you just want him on the mound pumping 99 plus and he's tough to hit for any hitter it's a good question here Dennis thank you so much for this H why does Doc refuse to name a definitive closer uh copc has the makeup to be a Bonafide finisher why is this uh it might not be a rhyme reason uh but even with Evan Phillips um and to you know I saw somebody talking about it it's nice to have a set closer but Dodgers haven't really had that set guy that Dave Roberts has been like he's closer you since Kenley Janson why does he just you know not really not too fond of it I would push back on that a bit he named Craig Kimbrell the definitive closer when he was here it wasn't great but he was their closer until he lost it Evan pH wanted to pitch anywhere else Evan Phillips was their definitive closer until he ended up losing the role Dave Roberts did come out and say like Phillips is our closer he's going to get the majority of safe chances so I think he's definitely willing to do it a player just has to earn it I don't think he was going to come in and say like yeah Michael Copic is our closer because he's thrown three great Innings I think it's gonna be something where a player earns it he's gonna become the closer it's gonna be a set role for him but he's not just gonna come and take it or give it away because if he gave Copic the role after three or four Innings and then Copic kind of regressed to where he was with the white socks like how do how does that look for the team and Dave Roberts as the manager everyone ends up criticizing him like you just gave it away and now he's terrible again so I get it you don't want to rush these things you don't have to name it like it just is what it is players know their role Dave Roberts is telling them what he expects of them just because he isn't saying it to the media and telling all the fans like I think there's a lot to it and really you don't have to actually get to that point till the playoffs and then you kind of have a more set pitching plan there so and yeah ppen guys weren't consistent that's part of it too been say says you know Copeg doesn't want to be called a closer he said it himself did he say this himself did we see the quotes on this I didn't personally but it does sound familiar I might have maybe potentially skimmed by it but cool check that out yeah I'll have to check it out but I mean hey you know Michael copc it's a it's a nod to you just having being flat out nasty uh and I I'm not guys I see the talk about you know this copc velocity was down today uh but he's pitched I think this was his third time in the last four days I believe so he's being used a bit it's to close out some games pitching those big spots uh I'm sure he'll be down for a few days and that's totally fine that's totally fine you've got you know Blake trinon coming back here uh Tuesday um I think that tomorrow you can handle it I think you can get through your spot here uh but the dogs are playing meaningful games uh and outside of you know like Daniel Hudson I believe in a lot of what they're cooking there um and Joe Kelly sorry um I think they'll be okay I I like the I like the the recipe that they have currently I spoke earlier about how I've been very fond of Evan Phillips's usage recently find a good multiple batter run for him where it's not just saying this is the spot for him if he's struggled against those lefties find him a spot in the lineup where if there's three righties force them to make a move force them to get that out of there because it sets you up for the rest of the game uh he got the job done today but if it's like I said if it's two righties and a lefty cool living you know do best to get that Lefty out go from there but I I think they've they've put Evan Phillips in a in a good spot to you know breed that success um Bob Nale wishes he had Michael copc thighs cosign bro I'm with you um absolutely and I saw somebody talk about I think it was dway Sanchez fan I think that's your name hopefully I'm not not butchering that but yeah I'm always on top of chat chat's the big you guys are the only reason why like you know I would say you keep the show going like that's the my favorite part about hopping on here aside from you know ripping Blake a new one him ripping me a new one keeping him up at night um it's my favorite thing you guys are awesome chat you guys are great tonight uh driving the conversation in some terrific terrific ways you're you're spot on with where the team's at currently and all these topics so you know best believe you're you're right on with where our our train of thought and what we're thinking um but I think that where the team is going I know his velocity was down today he's going to be off for a few I think that Michael copc he's just that lights out dude and it's never going to be hurt it's never gonna be hurtful to have a definitive closer um Dave Roberts has even said it's easier for him without a doubt you know who's at the back end there uh and I let me ask you this Blake do you think that they have enough arms you know that you trust uh to be fireman guys to pitch in different spots to not have to lean on Michael copc to be that fireman guy to pitch say in the sixth inning when the moment might be big and so you don't have to use him that early in the game and then when you get to the ninth they're saying damn I wish I had Michael copc here I think they have enough arms I think Banda vessia Tran Hudson potentially graterol Evan Phillips like even braia that's a solid relief group I think a lot of teams would be one to have a group like that and kind of jealous of the Dodger group sure even say like Joe Kelly has his flashes of Brilliance I don't always trust him but when he's on he looks really good yeah so seld them but yes yeah I I do believe in the group the Dodgers have to an extent I think there's always going to be concern with Bullpen guys and there's always going to be questions about him but considering everything they've dealt with this year I think the bullpen is in a pretty good spot uh NS I'll have to check on this um he's but his usage uh he's an older arm lot of miles lot of miles uh that would be my only thing I'd have to look into it more I'll I'll I'll double back with you unfortunately it'll have to be on Thursday if I see you guys prior if not I'll tweet something out uh but Hudson um he's transition into a few different spots this year uh closer for a bit he's had to take that load uh but he's going to have to find a way to eliminate the long ball fortunate today that it was you know only you know a two-run game and that solo shot didn't lose it for him didn't tie the game um so I'll look into that more I'm sure somebody in here has will do the same exact thing I am on it go ahead um but with Daniel Hudson I believe in what he's got uh he's just gotta you know trust his stuff he's got to they've got to figure out a way to stop giving up the Home Run ball uh into what Blake said I think they have enough guys to kind of mitigate the worry um that a lot of people have that he could be a liability uh in October I think they have enough I think Blake Tran um this little breather for him was a terrific spot great timing great timing we're all saying hopefully they find some spots for it could be uh Daniel Hudson's the next to receive that and that's to gonna be perfect I think they're you know positive news positive news on that front all right all right so real quick Daniel Hudson has has 306 in baseball with 1.09 home runs per nine innings so that's uh behind quite a few Dodgers including reesy buer Miller um braer so he's not the worst but okay one it it's been a little more concerning recently if you're telling me that's in the last like month or something I would definitely believe it for sure just in general this year he's been solid got it be is yeah Blake Scott and Blake like Shaq and Kobe absolutely man I don't have a jumper like that anymore I haven't played basketball in a long time yeah Shaq and Kobe without a doubt Blake and I can form a narrative and and ramrod that thing absolutely we cook we absolutely cook best team in Dodger heads thank you so much short time we've been on here Blake and I have got the we've had like we we we've talked about you know kind of the friend origin story there but Blake and I been I've been Palace for quite some time um and when you you talk shop talk ball with a friend you can kind of see the game a certain way um unfortunately sometimes it's from an unbiased View and you'd like to think about the times when you were a little bit uh you were a Die Hard where you you didn't see the all you know negative that can be in Major League Baseball with your favorite team but it allows you to just kind of get people on a a more clear lens view um we're g to toss this up this one's cool Greetings From Italy this could be a bit uh we'll we'll probably do a video here a standalone one on this uh here pretty soon Greetings From Italy what do you think of baseball in the Olympics in La by the way it Italy would play there um being the best team in Europe where do you stand on baseball in the Olympics I'm all for it I think there's still some things to be worked out about getting major league players into the Olympics with the timing of it and everything it would be during the season they'd probably have to like put a pause on the season let players go play in that but I know I love the WBC you love it it's always exciting when players go play for their countries and it increases like the um intensity of everything like all the players really get into it it's a lot more fun than the regular season and players just really Buy in and it creates a lot of fun it's fun seeing all the different countries like with their Traditions coming into it you see like all this noise makers and stuff that other countries are bringing in it's crazy atmosphere like it makes you like you look around and you're like World B like looking around like baseball around the world is insane the intensity and how like on top of it fans are that makes you that makes you happy like the game is already great as it is but looking around and how different cultures how different people you know come in and bring that intensity to the stands it it more baseball's good it's just a tough task is going to be getting major league baseball teams to agree to these things mlpa all this stuff Health when are they going to do this at the summer games like how are they going to fit this as going to be college players like are they going to pause the season they're going to you know have to you know Lobby all this stuff like they're goingon to have to table all these discussions figure out some way but with like how much is on the table and how volatile you know some of these pitches are these arms how things can go wrong you know would you feel comfortable in a penet race um a different team utilizing a big time arm for you in the heart a penet race and you're not able to kind of perfectly monitor his usage without just gu some guidelines I think the teams tough thing I think the teams would be pretty strict on the guidelines for pitchers on how they could be used and all that I I'm not sure there's like more injury risk than them just playing in the regular season to begin with maybe for That season they cut it down from 162 to 140 or something is kind of the tradeoff so you're not playing 180 games or whatever you're still playing the same amount at the end of the day it would probably cost the league some money but maybe they set up some kind of deal with the Olympics yeah leadership group where they make money from it as well so there's probably ways to get around it and I think teams wouldn't love it like teams don't love when their players go to the World Baseball Classic and play but at the end of the day it's their decision and they support it so I think there's a lot of benefits from having baseball in the Olympics and getting baseball on the international stage continuing to grow the game I think that would be a huge benefit for him be like you get baseball on the biggest possible stage you can have that's what's the negative that's going to come from that like you're just going to grow the game even more get more countries and people involved and I think it's just a good thing it's beautiful bro like it's I love I love the intensity that happens like I get excited every World Baseball Classic um I'm locked in I'm absolutely locked in I love hearing about the stories it's just it puts some of these guys it's the biggest moment of their lives you see the continuity these these teams have uh from other nations uh and it's just terrific I'm I'm all for it we get to see emotion at its high highest level and the players have a respect level for it too they know what's at stake there they take pride in it and when all those things match up you get Beautiful Moments Like The World Baseball Classic we just had uh where it's pure emotion um and just good ball and just that's that's where I want to see it I would I'd like to see our stars on the field playing you know in these type of games and if they do it and work it out and it's perfect awesome it can't be it can't be any better than that but if you're telling me they just they just stick with the World Baseball Classic uh and I get more moments like this you know trade T to Grand Slam epic stuff you never you don't forget like highlight videos of Major League Baseball that's it that type of stuff Otani against trout that's it Otani still on such a base screaming that's it you know Adam Jones robbing a homer for Team USA Andre last one I think that was 2021 yeah correct it's a ton of fun and I saw someone ask about when the next one is that will be in 2026 so they do it every three years little ways to go still towards that but looking forward to that one already again because part of me like after you watch that and then you go back to just watching Major League Baseball it can be a little boring to transition after all the excitement like the fans totally getting into it the atmosphere players like it's like a postseason atmosphere con ly and it's just a ton of fun and then you go back to Major League Baseball and kind of D and boring here so yeah yeah that's dope man I'm excited good question that's good stuff all right uh a couple things here I'm gonna toss this in real fast sandwich I'll get back to yours in just just like 30 seconds um John B BL says you know David vas reports Freddy Freeman to the injured list Max Muny and Tommy Ean coming off the iil kind standard give Freddy some time that wouldn't surprise me I think that's kind of what we talked about earlier there right before yeah not sure what the other roster move would be still there I maybe a Hayward Phantom iil kind of stint there maybe pus optioned I think they're probably gonna figure that one out here pretty soon but you had an interesting view on this real quick so Freddy Freddy goes on the injured list um and I agreed you know we talked about it right before hopping on the show about the possibility of Freddy Freeman you know taking some time figure out what's going on let the scans show give them give let him get figured out I have no worry about him um yeah exactly who goes to first base I think m is the easy answer because he's played that a lot but I kind of feel like they'd end up just going with Kik there because you're moving around less pieces when everyone comes back you get Muny at third where he's goingon to be in the playoffs get him taking grounders there again kind of like a mini rehab assignment he's been doing it already but I don't think there's a huge benefit to having Muny moving back and forth this year so just leave him at third and play Kik at first he's done it he did a lot with the Red Sox he's got experience there so I kind of see them just going with Kik and then it also makes it a little bit easier of a platoon there so you can plug in other guys easier and yeah that's just kind kind of how I see it going it's an interesting way to look at it absolutely keep that Cony what he's been doing there uh but I don't think there's you know kind of a wrong answer uh M's had that experience uh but I yeah Noah get get back into the groove of Third Base while he's up there uh get back into the groove of third so you could see either one KiKi at first base Max Muny at first base but it's an interesting thing remember when uh Jason Hayward was taking ground balls at first base practicing that a bit golly bro nice KK Hayward platoon at first keep him on the roster but now but now it makes it interesting so if Max Muny goes to first base you get Tommy hadman you know moving around a bit you can get Miguel Roa some more time Kik some more time I like it man I like it I didn't like it before you're talking to us a month and a half ago like none of it I like absolutely zero now the collection of Ro role players have kind of finding their spots there um more Kevin km just give me more it's all I want to see uh Ernie absolutely you know comes from the fan the fan side like looking at it from a fan lens and then bringing it to this and finding that good balance finding that good balance sandwich here we go uh with some more length from starters the bullpen should work itself out couldn't agree more absolutely couldn't agree more yeah we saw this a lot with them last year their Bullpen didn't get on track until their starters really got on track and I think there's a lot to that I don't think there's any difference from this year to last year like if your starters are giving you length the bullpen guys are going to be able to settle into their roles they won't have to cover five innings a night plus and it just makes things a lot easier then you kind of talk about instead of having to use five relievers then it's copc Phillips and vesia one night and Hudson shrining and Banda the next night you don't have guys going back to back every day and it just makes things a lot cleaner so if they can get that rotation figured out I think the bullpen gonna Thrive yeah don't to you know strain these guys don't worry about these up downs having to go two turn you know get an up down in there two in stuff like that keep them fresh the the best you can is worry about having backto backs all the time uh extended outings uh and outings that really throw a wrench and what you're trying to do like in a stretch of games where you don't have these days off where you don't get an automatic you know you know sit down uh it's Paramount for these you know starters to give you something man give me six just log your way through it give me six and then you could figure it out not have to use you know four or five guys in a night and then you wonder why Dave Roberts and the fourth guy brought in blew the game why didn't he go somewhere else it's a lot to manage it's a lot to manage so uh sandwich we've talked about it a lot it's got to work hand inand and when it does that's when you see you know you really see these things these marriages with the starters and the relievers work out so well uh and I think the Dodgers are trending to a position um where I'm liking their their mix that they had it's getting me back on the narrative that I had where I uh I was enjoying um the um kind of the I forgot the word I use but kind of the the approach and the uh how this for the like the the pitching staff Mark Prior uh what the scouting department has put together for a lot of these guys having success I like the the what they had them working on DFA guys coming back in getting into this organization um and having success so I like the like the marriage that's going on and I think they're trending to a better spot trying and coming back groud all news being all good um I want to get this in here real quick um do we see Enriquez at any point I know we there's been a lot of chatter about it uh on Twitter do we see him at any point because he's he's been a fast Riser he struggled kind of with some command there but the stuff is definitely Major League stuff I would be surprised if we don't for anyone who doesn't know it's Edgardo henriquez he's a right-handed reliever in the minor leagues he tops out at like 104 he sits in 100 mile per hour range so can you repeat that for us real quick believe if you're listening here um had no expression saying what he topped out in can you say that again 104 crazy yes more expression for you yes please yeah he's a fun pitcher he he has command surprisingly like a lot of times when you talk about guys thr in 104 it's it's can they find the strike zone with it what how many guys is he walking but henriquez uh has not been walking as many players as like a normal flamethrower type pitcher so he's an intriguing Prospect and I'd be surprised if he doesn't get a look here at some point yeah Paul C velocity might be overrated not 104 not 104 that's not overrated if he's commanding it I don't think that's overrated and he doesn't have just bad secondary stuff either like he's got good he's developing good secondary stuff there it's just about getting a hold of it getting a hold of it and but fast Ball's there the slider's even solid he plays up he's got to get a look he's he's been a fast Riser it's like Blake said I'd be very surprised if he doesn't um yeah Paul you see him 104 let's let's stand in there I wouldn't have a chance he would need to be added to the 40 man roster though that is a fair point that might be the reason they decide against it but like they have Michael Peterson on the roster that's an easy DFA decision they could make they could DFA a guy like Hunter feducia who isn't gonna fit into their long-term plans probably more of a career minor league guy anyway so they have options it'll it might depend on how they're roster crunch kind of shakes out and how things go here in the next month or so yeah interesting one for sure Noah man Plotz Julio Rus pitches for Mexico in the Olympics no yeah I mean big no it would probably happen but yeah oh no from me TR Turner Grand Slam every inning couldn't wait can't wait John B blue oops taking this over Blake I got it John B blue I attended the 1984 Olympics with Will Clark Mark mcgu man for my time but that's you know historic stuff I'm pretty sure my mom and dad saved a lot of stuff uh from that Olympic year um I gotta look to see if there's any baseball stuff in there but I know how much it would mean to Baseball fans fans around the world and a lot of people want to see Major League Baseball um you know want to see the biggest talent on the biggest stage get a gold medal you know just meddling is is is a feat uh but a lot of people wouldn't settle for anything but gold me included uh but it means something it's just a matter of finding the balance uh and how they're going to do it and that's going to be an interesting thing how they're going to Wi you know weave the timing of the regular season into it just because it's convenient that the NBA isn't going on when they're playing in there uh and then you get the biggest stars Major League Baseball's in full swing I know the H I know hockey kind of pauses their SE for a bit right Blake yeah and then so how would Major League Baseball do that it's that's the question that're they're going to have to answer that's above Blake and my pay grade uh but it's interesting I want to see how they do it if they even you know how they figure it out I want to see how they figure it out all right Godfrey great show like always guys love the great information you guys bring yeah thank you man you're always here um with the you know the regulars that tune in with the people that are tuning in for the first time uh Blake and I bottom of our hearts thank you a bunch uh we get the opportunity to do this we're very fortunate to be in this position uh to just sit on here talk ball so thank you again uh shout out to the over 1400 in here uh joining us on your Sunday night thanks for hanging out uh positive series we talked right before this and we said just you know I tweeted out you know take care of business against the Cardinals uh do your best to do that and let the chips fall let the dice roll uh they take two of three Diamondbacks gets swept Padres uh I think they two of three pretty sure so Dodgers keep three game lead over them Diamond Backs four back got to play you're getting positive news on the injury front Max Muny Tommy Edmond good stuff there Blake try and back on Tuesday all things going well I think we're in a good spot um I think we're in a good spot so I'm not my worry meter is not where it was two months ago anywhere close uh Rod thank you so much man clay Kershaw is thrown 25 complete games 15 shutouts if you just wanted to shout out Clayton Kershaw I will always welcome um you know paying some respect to what 22 is given to the game and the Dodgers he's one of a kind man the best pitcher I'll ever see in my entire life till I croak uh you're low on Roki Sasaki I'm kidding I'll ever see in my entire life somebody clipped that so you know Blake can weep uh when Kershaw first ballot when the the Hall of Fame bus gets uh shown up why would I weep no no no because he didn't he didn't just nod he had to take a moment to troll I'm just bring rooki saki because there's a report today about he might not come to the majors next year like a lot of Executives were expecting so because he's trended down man right like he's had some yeah his stuff he's had some injury like he's think that's been kind of a concern so build up the stock and kind of open up open up your base a little bit so yeah I was just leading into a little discussion there I don't have a banner for it I can't talk about it don't want to talk about it this tonight was our Kevin km propaganda night okay all right all right we got one more thing to go through uh we kind of already talked about it a ton uh but Tommy Edmond and Max Muny are returning uh in the Freddy Freeman injury uh injury list news kind of that that is the reason why Max mun's coming back uh a day later than previously reported um day earlier day earlier yes a day earlier so it wouldn't have been that long but Freddy Freeman goes on the is going on the I Max Muny bagage day earlier we're getting Tommy Edmond and Max Muny injected right into the lineup uh what do you love what don't you love if you don't love anything let me know I like it I'm excited to have Tommy edman in the lineup for the first time I think he's kind of the player we've been talking about them all year needing like just the guy who's going to raise the floor at the bottom of their lineup and of course m is one of their key hitters in the middle of the lineup so it's exciting to get them back I think it'll be a pretty big boost to the Dodgers the downside is why I'm not loving it as much is fry Freeman might be out for a bit so it's disappointing but I think I'm excited for both these players coming back yeah absolutely uh David thank you so much man for tuning in live Blake and I like to do these late streams uh it just it's good stuff I know people like to pop us on wind down uh if you're listening on the VOD you know tomorrow couple days we appreciate you a bunch um yeah David do do the most you can join us in Live join the chat it's fun time got a lot of knowledgeable people in here real quick real quick can everyone in the chat tell us like if there's a specific time you like us to go on because we've seen a lot of good feedback with the 8 o'clock shows we've been doing but I know cons we've done it historically at like seven we've done some at nine also so if anyone has like some time preferences just let us know and we'll try and play around that a little more I think people like the later ones man that's what I'm getting the vibe to but also like people do have to go to work tomorrow and all that so trying to figure out what's the best time hang out and listen to the soothing sound of my voice so we appreciate you guys little as ASMR yeah talk ball prop up Kevin km seeing a lot 8m 8m Jake later I'm in yeah we can't do right after the games on Sunday because a lot of times I'll be at the stadium and then I won't get home until like 7 or something so yeah right after the game's tough on Sundays but more On th DB after dark DB after dark would go crazy and plus after Day games if Blake's at the stadium I like to give him enough time to you know drive back get pop some dino nuggies in the oven and uh he'll they'll Gatorade replenish little electrolytes refuel get the hot takes ready to go yeah man I'm still waiting for you to make my lunch from today I was over at Scott's lemonade stand and he didn't make lunch I was at Norah's lemonade standup make it seem like I had one daughter was out here slinging strawberry lemonade she had a going she's like a sugar rim no sugar rim uh to it was a good day today but get back on topic I love what Tommy Edmond and Max Muny are bringing uh the fact that we're getting another Premier center field option that also has the ability to play Premier shortstop uh to give Miguel roas any time off keep him fresh uh without having to put mooki bets there even think about putting you know mooki bets there um you know keep him in right field results been positive so far uh Kik Hernandez he's fine up the middle but I think his best role is being able to move around uh his defense metrically in the past few years not the best thing uh up the middle his best work has come at the corners and in the Outfield he's just athletic enough to play you know all three Outfield spots uh so I am Juiced on what Tommy edman brings switch hitter pops showing up in his rehab assignment there Max Muny I know had a three-run homer I believe yesterday with OKC if it was it wasn't yesterday it was the day before but he B counts Health he looks good everything looks solid there uh this is the time this is the thing that we said um be a little bit patient you guys it's gonna suck and hearing that right now when teams are staring down the barrel staring after first place coming for that spot patience is not something you want to hear I don't want to hear it I don't want to be patient I want them to be good now put the best best players in the roster right now but now they're getting healthy now we're going to see it um it's G to be good stuff I'm I'm Juiced I'm Juiced where they're headed this is this is a terrific spot and excuse me and yep yeah D yeah Dennis it's gonna be extremely fun team to watch um it's happening in the heart of a division race pennet race um let's let's see them play meaningful baseball with a finally healthy roster and hopefully Freddy Freeman nothing's big time there with this finger um all things are good for me man I'm I'm fired up bees thank you uh 47 hop on their website they've got a lot they come out with good stuff all the time uh Dodger hats um last thoughts you gave me a little bit you gave me a little bit on Max Muny and Tommy Edmond I know you're way more excited than you than you're leading off Blake you like Tommy Edmond how much does he bring no I need a little bit more I I didn't get as excited as you you I we we've talked before about this I like the defense in the base running his Bat isn't amazing he's probably about League average offensively which can be fine with considering a lot of the group they've had this year but this is a guy when he was healthy he was a five one player for the Cardinals and that's like an All-Star level player I think he would he would he wouldn't ever really be like the allstar type selected to the game because he's doing it with his glove and his Bas running more than his Bat which that's Fair fans want to see the offense in the game but the point is he's a really valuable player when he's on the field and I think he brings a lot to the Dodgers he's a guy who could be there shortstop next year so it's exciting bro like he steals bags like everybody's forgetting that like he's a switch hitter he gets on BS huh I just said he brings value with this I know you did but like people I even talk to about Tommy Evan they just don't even know that he's he's a base dealer like that like from you know 2021 to 2023 dude's at 89 steals man like imagine what he's gonna do right now like he's gonna cook get on base he's gonna cook put pressure on the on the pitching staff opposing pitching staff like him in the nine get on base steal a bag Otani get find Hope find some success Otani please find some success with runners in scoring position turn that around you know Tommy Evans get a get on there it's no longer hoping Gavin Lux get on gets on base in the eighth or ninth slot like he's in he's entrenched self in the like you know middle of the order let's get Tommy edman there bat to ball guy I'm I'm all in I I I was saying I was saying they needed to find that find some batting average dudes find some people who you know more inclined to just get on base uh just for this offense they've got the pop at the top let's look at the bottom and I I like from my perspective that's what I want to see get on base get over Christopher Max Muny and Tommy edman coming back is the Death Star fully becoming operational everyday death lineup show bets Freddy Tao Max Will Smith Gavin Lux Miguel roas Tommy edman play this every day as often as possible yeah I just wanted to throw that one up for the Star Wars reference you know I think we both co-signed that lineup too yeah talk to me I love that man yeah I'm all in don't have to you don't have to uh convince me otherwise you don't have to put a gun on my head and hold me down and sign off on that Dave Roberts though the people who like Jason Hayward though yeah people might want Jason Hayward in there not going to happen yeah paulc I mean like he he brings an element they don't have like that's they he just brings another element they don't have like talk about the glove like Tommy Edmond's Tommy Edmond's legit from that sense like he provides what they haven't had Z in I'm in on what he's got uh The Sandwich Glass now goes on a Madison Bum Garner esque run in October risking his future going every day you okay with that for a ring for I I could see it happening I think uh strawber did so I'd be okay with that yeah Glow's had his share of postseason struggles but you know so did Cory Seager before he went on his run there's a lot of Randomness to it so for sure let's go yeah I'm all in let's go if he wants to take the ball if he you know breaks down Dave Roberts's you know manager door while he's having a glass of red Stitch and says I'm taking the ball today skip yeah you got it Ty I'm in I want that we need that dog man need some dog need some life need some um we need some emotion to show up we talked about this last time who's the leader where's the where's the bite and I said give us a week give us a week or two let us see the full lineup then we'll get to see the emotion come out so I like where where we're headed on that sense then we can get to it man you guys no questions are coming you're all flood them in here all right have one more Super chat though there we go John scenario what are the chances of Walker ber walking into the back of the plane to ask Kershaw how do you only allow two earn runs in three starts uh I mean I think Walker bu leaving the team and going to Florida was that right going to Florida to figure out what's going on clearly because the Dodgers you know maybe Walker ber the Dodgers advis him to do so uh I don't think very likely I think Walker bu is like he's in a spot where just hearing stuff from Clayton Kershaw they're not the same type of pitcher like it's a completely different profile so it's going to take a lot more than what Clayton Kershaw can bring but that would be that would be something in a movie just you know sits down next to him and says 22 help me out man help me out I'm sure that's already been a conversation that's ongoing between them I the pitchers are always talking to each other trying to figure out things that are working for each other and how to improve have some competitions between them on who's can have the better starts but I think this is kind of what Walker beer is at this point it's been the concern I've had with him all year like the list of guys who come back from a second Tommy John surgery and are still effective after that is very very low and it just doesn't happen often even the players who do come back and Pitch again at the major league level their careers are pretty short after that and there's just not a lot of success stories there I think nathany avaldi is like the only one who stands out is kind of the outlier of guys who've done it Daniel Hudson did it but when he came back he was a reliever instead of the starter that he used to be so the Outlook just isn't great yeah my God so yeah out look just isn't great there one sec one sec one sec all right you want me to throw up another question give me some guys we're just going to roll into questions if you got a question here all caps question um we've got a l so it's you got to bring it you got to bring it uh Freeman is on the iil do you think we call up Andre lipsius uh no yeah I don't think so I think he's kind of a quad a guy like too good for Triple A not good enough for the majors and I I think that's just kind of what he is like Scott V like is a guy that kind of reminds me of that type of player there's been a few of them who is the Rob seeden that was your guy I always bring that up oh my God that was my brother's my brother would text me all the time like right when Rob SE and I think he had the one hit off of David Price and he let he I think he texted me about that I'm going to send him this clip he texted me about that every day every like every sixth hour for like a week about Big Rob seeden I think he was number 25' be like big 25 and I'd be like oh my god get this dude out of here but yeah quad a guy um we don't need to bring anybody else up yeah Casey yeah we don't we don't need to bring anybody else up I was I was hyping up Luke rayy to you too and you kept shutting it down and then he went on to have some uh success same with Edwin Etta he actually did he actually yeah bleta we had I had nicknames for Blake and all these bums that they were with the dods for years oh my God we used to cook Blake over these he would H oh my God it's crazy okay this is one for me but I'm gonna answer it uh I have not tried the pickle lemonade at Disneyland I know someone who has because for starters I don't like pickles at all I can't stand them I think they're terrible they ruin everything they're on so I would never try this but my friend does like pickles and she tried it and she said it was too pickly like there's just too much so I would not recommend you having that if you're getting if you're getting something that of that flavor profile wouldn't you just be like expecting that I I guess but I think it was just too much I don't know apparently sounds like they need to grow up apparently pickle Dr Pepper is a thing that's really popular among people this guy like this is Blake at an hour and 40 minutes in talk about pickle Dr Pepper I'm just answering questions this is what I deal with guys so you know love them this is what I deal with uh Scott Blake we goes go live daily there's enough uh enough you know enough calling for it we can we can we can figure it out we can figure it out you gotta talk to the suits you got to talk to the suits you guys not it's not my not my thing to not my thing to do I might uh be running on fumes pretty quickly at that point being at the stadium and then doing this like we'll see you got you got to talk to the to the suits man yeah um go ahead yeah um if Freeman's placed on the iil his stint would be backd to the first the last day he played so the next day which I believe was two days so instead of the 10 day it would be like an eight day I stin so yeah yes that would happen if that ends up being the case for Freddy which I'm okay with I it's the when he left you know a bit ago with the you know the the the situation that happened with his son thankfully that all turned out great uh Max is all good continuing our support there uh I had no worry about Freddy Freeman be able to come back and step right back into success uh and he's just being one of if not the most consistent player around the league in terms of mental in terms of approach uh same type of stuff so I don't have any worry about him hitting the iil for a bit get him off his feet hopefully everything's okay with his finger there um and I have no worry that he'll come back hit the ground running which is totally fine by me I'm cool with it all right let's go you guys bring let's get a let's get some let's get some big time questions in here I'm gonna toss these up while Blake Stars some of these here dway Sanchez fan love the name best Dodger head Squad no doubt um thank you thank you Roy same thing Scott Blake the best just tossing these up we appreciate you guys we appreciate you guys a lot man all right man you got some uh do you have any comments on what roas said to David vas at the end of today uh that it is good for the dodg to fight for the division I think I think um it it aligns with a lot of what fans have said and shout out to the 1500 in here we appreciate you uh it's a good time for you to join in we've heard it for years um and about even the questions going down the stretch is a lead you know a double digit lead uh so good for them like is it good for the psyche you know getting themselves up you know to that spot where they're playing competitive baseball even rolling in you know what I mean like that's a concern and then everybody says why isn't Dave Roberts the guy for that job why can't he get him on that well he's a players manager like he's gonna you know he's gonna treat big leers big Leaguers like big Leaguers but to what Roa said about it's good for them to fight for the this manufactured you know the pressure they're I mean unfortunately it comes where they have to you know play good to keep that top spot but I I don't think it it hurts from a you know a mental standpoint right yeah I think there's a benefit to it I think there's also a negative to it it's going to add more pressure and intensity to the team like they can't kind of get their relax time in before the playoffs and get fresh and healthy again it's going to put more of a toll on them so I think there is good and bad to it it's an it's interesting to see because they haven't had to do this in quite a while they've kind of run away with the division so it'll be interesting to see if that does have an effect on them in the postseason because we've kind of seen them the last few years come out sluggish and not play very well so we'll see I think uh 2021 was the last year they had to fight for the division they ended up losing it by a game but they went on and won in the nlds so maybe there is something to it I want to toss this one up here just because it's a good question just came in Rod thank you for this man uh it's bottom of the ninth World Series I would assume this is to Win It tie game Runner run second who do you want at the plate we'll probably see the same answer I think we're gonna be different here I think you're thinking Tay Oscar Noe no I'm gonna sayani still You're Gonna Go Otani I'm say like I'm just saying I need a bat to ball like I'm saying I need a bat to ball guy just find a base hit I'm saying Freddy man that crossed my mind and I don't necessarily disagree with it no wrong answers here by the way my thing here is like I still just want the best hitter like I'm gonna live and die with the best player there and Otani is their best hitter by far okay I know there's concerns about his Runners and scoring position stuff and all that but like it's sh Otani he's the best hitter on the club and if you lose with your best player in the situ it happens I'd rather lose with my best player and then lose with a lesser player so just where my thoughts at on it man Kira you call me broccoli hair you're crazy get out of here so somebody yeah curly hair thanks uh guys who who what's he over what's a consensus here I see a lot of somebody's putting somebody said ct3 ct3 is one I didn't think I would see without a doubt Barnes chill out Obie relax relax you don't need that you don't really want that uh Max tied but come on let's be honest if it's tied like the Dodgers don't win in Extra Innings they just don't do it so be come on I'm saying Freddy I'm G say I'm gonna say there we see a lot of that I know we'll see a bunch more um choose Lux this week I mean hey even when Lux was bad he was you know still Runners on base like he was solid so if you told me that I mean I'm not hating the answer Lux was doing something when he had Runners on base like if it was a runner on third base and you just needed a bat to ball to get him in Lux wasn't the worst answer like he's been doing that he's been doing that this all season outman chill out chill out chill out bedtime I'll turn the stream off we'll go to bed that's crazy tomm huh you you say what no one said Kik k is a good one is it if it's a righty on the mound like keik that that Series against the Red Sox he was key he was locked in I loved it man Teo yeah I know you thought I would say that yeah no he comes in with the teoscar man he's in a little bit of a slump right now but that's what these guy these free swingers do they get you know they get into swing mode and and he's just in a runner but I I still have a ton I'm gonna still stick on that Blake and I have loved uh and have you know stayed on the the thought that tay Oscar is gonna have you know a presence in October um yeah I think but outman you guys are so funny Will Smith Will Smith plead your case this year plead your case he's had a rough go but I mean still historic stuff postseason he's had the moments without a doubt um he's been a consistent guy yeah it's not a terrible answer either that's why I said there's so many ways you could look at it so many things you could bring up there chill out Heyward oh my God stop stop stop uh Casey good one uh Freddy Kik M Tao I haven't seen a lot of mookies guys you you guys I haven't seen a lot of them is it because you don't you don't truly don't believe that or you're just you haven't seen him lately so you're kind of forgetting about him oh man nuk's a playoff history isn't the best yes he has not been great outside of 2020 man and before even his MVP year in 2018 he had the stat pad Homer against Clayton Kershaw uh and that's yes I know yep yeah Casey yeah I just want people to plead their case I don't disagree with you but I just want people to plead their case that's all that just means he's due this year like oh man that a regression com in mookie 11 for 11 this year he's had some rough postseason so he's who said they got to show it yeah pinsanity he's got to show it he's got to show it so you chat you're Justified tonight fully without a doubt you're you're locked in takeways podcast okay let's get to some more questions because we're getting to the two hour mark here [Laughter] so probably time oh man here we'll do some rapid fire ones go ahead do the Dodgers give Walker bu a one-year Pro a deal let him walk they let him walk yeah he I don't think he's coming back you'll get a one-year deal from a bad team to try and figure things out but I don't think you'll be a Dodger guys and we'll coordinate for a walker bu Memory Lane uh segment and then we'll talk there uh and then we'll go through some of Walker bu's you know greatest moments because we've talked about him a lot this downfall needs to be studied it needs to be broken down I'm going to leave that up to tqt if he's in here I need a study written up about Walker bu's downfall and what's happened because he's given me some of the best postseason memories from a starter um just some awesome stuff from him so yeah it SNS it sucks but I don't see him bringing him back which position does Edmund play the most for the team center field that's what Dave Robert said so that's the plan for him center field uh John another Super Chat here Peace of Mind Dodges half a game from best record in MLB absolutely yeah absolutely it's looking around the league the the Phillies Blake had to remind me that the Phillies were not playing good baseball and I honestly couldn't believe that the Dodgers were right there at the top of like National League standings uh and the and the the Cleveland Guardians have kind of they're right up there too everybody's kind of playing mid ball kind of goes along with the theme this year and not many teams gonna reach the 100 win threshold um so for all the things have we laid we've laid out about reasons to be excited all lining up all lining up John good stuff man thank you again as always for the support thanks for the super chats Financial stuff uh report to the to the higher ups it's been a good one you know Blake and I we Rejoice today let's see NOP I want this one real fast what' you put up my bad no just go for it okay do you think the Dodgers are in on stto in the offseason yes I don't know how deep they go but yes I think they'll explore it they're going to talk to him I I'm not sure how far they're going to go it's like a 12 year $600 million doll deal that he'll probably end up getting but maybe they say like hey here's one here's three years at 60 million a year you want to take it come be a Dodger for three years and then I think he'd hit the open market again at 29 or something like that so crazy man might uh be intriguing to him but they did that kind of thing with Bryce Harper too he wanted the long-term stability but Soto could set him up for an even bigger payday like I I wouldn't rule it out tot and I've also argued they should be in on him regardless of whatever contract he ends up getting because you're not going to have Freedman for the long term he's on the older end of his career now he's on the back end of his contract and you kind of replace Freeman with sto there like just so he's so talented like I love Juan Soo you gotta get him if you can get him do you think do you think the Dodger Stadium would um crumble into the Earth if they sign Juan sto crumble into the Earth people some other PE some people around the league would make that happen if that's what happens if the Dodgers sign woto man yangi yes I mean sure yeah if they signed stto over you'd rather oh you'd rather sign teoscar than Juan sto he is awesome but I can't get on board with that Soto is Soto is a first ballot Hall of Famer that's going to be a free agent at 26 he is a player that does not come around often like his number one comp all the time is Ted Williams like I think uh Juan SoDo is gonna be the second best free agent on the market Ever After Otani that be we'll do this now we'll do this later I can't do that I can't talk about that right now yeah he's he's generational all right put that one up you had let's get a few more and then we'll we'll call it a night why doesn't MLB expand the number of pitchers allowed on the roster that's probably something they'll talk about the last time they did it when you could expand your rosters to 40 in September there was a lot of pitching changes after one or two batters faced and it was flowing down the game a ton in September but that's kind of been taken care of now with the three batter minimum rule but I think it could be something they talk about I've kind of thought about the idea of like maybe you have 30 players active a night instead of all 40 and you kind of go from there so I think there's ways where they can make it happen and work on it without it affecting the length of the game too much yeah let's see let's see let's see give me give me two more um thr that one sure yeah he's earned it absolutely he's played himself into a spot where he's hitting in different spots like he's showing with Runners and soring position getting on base extra base hit stuff he had two doubles today right two dou doues in a single pretty sure that what it was somebody fact check me please uh yeah but yeah BC he's him right now he's him right now he's earned everything about it had the higher up they want to hit him cool like it was a meme when he was hitting third in the order but like he's he's earned it right now he's he's he's on it so yeah yeah David I don't yep sorry if I wish I had more there but he's playing himself into a spot where he's earning everything he's getting right now Difference Maker stuff that's on the sixth inning minimum for starters uh I think we'll do a bigger video on this when the time comes General consensus I think among our staff is we're not fans of it we don't like it so we'll get into that one sometime soon here yeah GI we haven't really I haven't been on to talk about it we'll do a longer longer thing on that it's interesting but it's it's you got to convince you got to convince like Players Association to rooll with that I know there's factors to it and a lot of people just see the headline for it and then but like the stipulations associated with I think it's like four runs um there's a couple things to it I don't want to get into it but we'll we'll do a longer video on that but surface level stuff I don't like it I don't like having to force teams into that but you know they'll have to they'll have to bargain for a couple things there I just it's like manufacturing offense now you're manufacturing pitching du I think and there people are like bringing up the fact saying oh they don't fans don't look to see what pitchers they are because they get pulled so fast what like what does that happen like I see a good pitching matchup I I'm stoked for the pitching matchup I don't I don't care that they're not going you know eight nine innings anymore like I just I don't like having to force force speed stuff in Major League Baseball Juan sto it's not close like for me the thing is between Sasaki and sto is you don't have to pick Sasaki isn't going to get a major contract when he comes over because he won't be old enough so he'd get the league minimum deal and essentially be on a rookie contract for six years go through that whole process of arbitration and just having your contract renewed so I don't think signing either of them would take them out of a deal for the other one if you're forcing me to pick one it's going to be Juan sto because pitchers break and jua is a generational player Oh Tony this Otani did his Otani has a contract just for this don't forget that guys he has two million on books everything deferred for this stuff okay uh you know that's what it is I think one more and then I'm gonna call it I gotta call it I gotta eat dinner I put that off I know I know okay what for dinner Uh Wood Ranch Barbecue man we got a little tri tip little uh little fries little garlic rolls um and then and then we hit the gym hard tomorrow uh I've seen a few people asking about what the rotation is going to look like so I'll throw this one up because it kind of ties in because I think both of us agree this will be the postseason rotation if everyone's healthy so do we think it's the best in MLB I would say the I still like what the Phillies have I really do I know they've been had some difficult stuff lately but on paper and for production this year I still like what the Phillies have but we've got to see what yamamoto's got glass now has to be you know locked in it's a good question I see people agreeing with that yes but if you're just Blake are you just asking me just to project it all things green light going toe-to-toe with other rotations yes yeah I I like the Phillies rotation man I like the Phillies rotation I think they've got a number of arms I think they've got power stuff they've got guys who can go deep into games uh it's just comes down to Yamamoto in the postseason first time Kershaw in the PST postseason at this time um so I think I would say I would say the Dodgers probably number two behind the Phillies man I think I'd agree with that I think the Dodgers have the upside to be the number one it just might depend on how Yamamoto and Kershaw do so it's a good group we're just talking we're just talking uh pitching staffs I know people talking about uh offense I'm just we're just talking pitching pitching staffs here and one more question just because I think it's interesting wota contract prediction I think 600 million easy for him I'd be surprised if he doesn't get that amount so yeah I think the yeah I think the it's gon to be in the range of of that yes 12 years six that's 50 million aav yep 14 yeah I could see it but then you might be pushing A little over or maybe they go like 600 to bring down the aav with 14 but it's going to be a very massive contract he is going to be 26 or 27 when he's actually a free agent generational Hall of Fame Talent like guys like him just aren't on the market very often and I think there's going to be a huge bidding war especially with the Yankees wanting to keep him the Mets are probably going to be involved there the Dodgers will probably get involved like you're talking all the biggest Market teams getting involved on a future Hall of Famer it's going to be a massive contract let's not act like major league base didn't just you know have like 11.6 billion in profits in 2023 so let's not act like the the money's not there or that the contract's too high I'm all for players if you tuned in and heard my stuff like I'm all for the players getting as much money as possible and if it means it's not with your team that stinks uh but I want players to get as much money as possible because that's why the player association is a thing it's to set up the next guy uh even if it means your team misses out you've got to get something the owners can't have it all one more Super Chat do I bring back the kolako absolutely I missed them they were so good k k what's that they were oatmeal cookies with ice cream between them dipped in chocolate they were sold at Dodger Stadium and oh the ownership remember brought them back and then they got rid of them yeah they were they were so good chocolate malt man that's I was I was the chocolate malt kid just because the The Wooden Spoon chocola malt you can't really beat that that was like Aller stuff for me and let's you know guys can we just you know petition let's get Carl Jr back in there that was like the good times I don't eat fast food anymore at all now but like those are the good days bro those are good days now the food is so mid now they have to do crazy stuff to even get people to eat there we H the two-hour Mark Blake we did we should probably uh wrap it up here soon because I think we're both hungry now appreciate you guys thank you so much you know 1,600 in here across all platforms uh Twitter Facebook YouTube as always Blake and
