Florida gators (Billy Napier) 2024 football game by game predictions and roster discussion

today I'll be doing Florida so first I'll talk a little bit about the head coach and then I'll talk some about the roster and then I'll go through the schedule game by game and give you a predicted winner and loser for each game so head coach Billy Napier enters his third and final season as the head coach of Florida his record at Florida is 11 and4 he went six and seven the first year and five- seven the second year he got the head coaching job at Florida because he had success as the head coach of a group of five team Louisiana Lafayette but he never was a good fit to be an SEC head coach I think he's one of the 10 worst coaches in the country and you can type in the comments well 11 and 14 isn't that much below 500 but uh that is terrible for uh the recruiting that uh he's done since he's been at Florida so his first full recruiting class in 2022 was the 18th ranked recruiting class and then in 2023 Florida had the 13th ranked recruiting class and then in 2024 they also had the 13th rank recruiting class and to have losing records with that that kind of talent is terrible and he's not any good at game time coaching and he's not any good at Player Development one of his former players uh who's now transferred to my team Old Miss princely alond main said that Billy Napier isn't any good at Player Development and that's why he left Florida and uh Florida is in bad shape right now they're going to be horrible this year and they've been bad for several years now but they're not to the point to where if they got a good coach they couldn't be turned around if they can get the right coach in there Florida can be really good again because the the State of Florida is still one of the top three states for high school football Talent uh so uh now starting on the offens side of the roster quarterback at Graham Merks returns and this is one good thing for Florida to me uh so Graham Merks was the starting quarterback at Wisconsin for two years before transferring to Florida and he was terrible at Wisconsin and I thought that he was going to be terrible also at Florida but he surprised me and had a pretty good year he's one of the better quarterbacks in in the SEC so he played in 11 games last year he missed the last game because of an injury but in those games he had 293 passing yards and 20 touchdown passes and was very accurate completing 72.9% of his passes and he had an 8.1 yards per throw average uh and uh he only threw uh three interceptions so uh they are in pretty good shape at quarterback uh and uh they also have a festar quarterback coming in his name is DJ lagway who will be the backup quarterback this year as a true freshman he won't play in real game time uh other than garbage time uh this year unless marks were to get hurt again but he'll probably be Florida's a starting quarterback in 2025 uh so then at wide receiver uh they lose their best receiver from last year Ricky peaw who ended up getting in the first round of the draft but they still have Eugene Wilson who was a a really good wide receiver last year as a freshman man he had in 10 games 61 catches for 538 and six touchdowns and they bring in two transfer wide receivers they bring in Elijah Badger from Arizona State a really good receiver who had in two years combined 1579 yards on 135 catches and 10 touchdowns averaging 11.7 a catch and they bring in a transfer from Wisconsin chamir Dyke who played with Merz in 2022 and caught 47 passes for 689 and six touchdowns averaging 14.7 a catch so at running back Florida has had a good running back unit these past two years years it's been one of the few good things about their team with the two really good running backs Montell Johnson and Trevor etn but bad news is Trevor etn is transferred out and that is going to hurt their run game he was a big part of their offense these past two seasons now Montell Johnson is still there he'll be the starting running back and he's no doubt going to play in the NFL uh he has in two years combined 307 carries for 1600 and 58 yards and 15 touchdowns averaging 5.4 a carry but they need a running back number two also to be good to have a strong Run game and I don't really think Florida has that this year and then on the offensive line Florida has got to play much better on the offens line this year if they're going to surprise and make a bow game they were bad here last year now they do have three starters coming back and bring in some transfers and they've got a left tackle Austin Barber coming back who's a a really good player so uh Florida's offense I don't think is going to be that good this year it wasn't that good last year either so on the defensive side they struggled here last year and I think they'll probably struggle overall again this year so on the defensive line they do have three out of four starters returning but uh they're not that good and the starter they lose was their best player on the the line by far Prince leam and Main who was a really good pass rusher that is a big loss now they do bring in a FCS transfer Joey slackman who was really good at the FCS level who will be taking almond Main's spot on the defensive line uh he had in two years combined 97 tackles and eight sacks and 16 total pressures and three pass breakups but I wouldn't expect them to be as good as Prince leam and Main and at linebacker they're not very good overall here now they do have Shamir James coming back who's a pretty good player he had last year in eight games he missed the last four because of an injury but had a 55 tackles and a sack he was their second leading tackler even though he missed four games last season and the secondary could be a strength for Florida this year if their defense is going to have any good spot it's going to be the secondary so uh at safety they do look good here uh they returned Jordan Castell who was a a good player he was their leading tackler last year up with 60 tackles and he had three pass breakups and an interception and they bring in two transfer safeties they bring in ASA Turner from Washington who had in 27 games these past three seasons combined 112 tackles and four interceptions and and they bring in a transfer from two lanane DJ Douglas who had last year 54 tackles and three interceptions and two pass breakups and 13 games and uh at cornerback they return uh Jason Marshall who is their top corner he has in 25 games these past two years combined 55 tackles and 19 pass breakups and a back and an interception but the other starting Corner Spot is questionable they've got some talented players but they've not had much college experience and you know Napier is not good at developing players so at special teams they returned their kicker who was solid for them last year and they were return the best punter in the SEC Jeremy croshaw who averaged a 48.9 yards per punt last season uh so now moving on to the predictions uh they start the year against Miami at home so uh Miami I think is clearly a much better team than Florida is but like I said in the Miami video I do think this game will be really close and Florida will have a good chance to pull the upset I wouldn't be surprised if they did but uh Miami uh I do think is too good and they'll win this game still uh but uh Miami's head coach Mario Christ ball has not been very good with his talent level either uh so uh then they play Samford this will be a blowout win it'll be the only easy win on Florida's schedule this schedule is really tough and that's why Florida's record is gonna be really low with my prediction even though I don't think they're quite as bad as the record shows so then they play Texas A&M at home Texas A&M's new coach Mike Elco I think could coach circles around Billy naier and Texas A&M's quarterback Connor Wayman is also going to be pretty good and they've also got several good options at wide receiver they've gotten a much deeper running back back unit than Florida does and A&M's offensive Line's not that good but Florida's isn't either and Texas A&M's defense is so much better than Florida's I think they're too good and it'll be pretty close I think but A&M I think will win so then they play on the road at Mississippi State so in my opinion there's a difference between a terrible football team and a horrible football team and that's Florida and Mississippi State Florida's a terrible team and Mississippi state's a horrible team now even though Mississippi state is horrible I will admit even though I'm an old Miss fan that it can be a pretty tough place to play they uh have those stupid cow bells over there that get really loud during the games but still I don't think it's going to be enough and I think Florida has enough to give this road win in a pretty close game uh so then they play Central Florida at home after getting a week off so Billy Napier has uh gotten a win every year against the team that's better than Florida even though he has been a terrible coach and I think this will be that one win for him uh I do think this game will be really close and Central Florida is clearly a better team uh but Central Florida doesn't really have an advantage over Florida at the line of scrimmage in this game uh so uh then they play on the road at Tennessee uh Florida has own Tennessee uh and I know what happened last year but uh I don't think Florida is going to go on the road and beat Tennessee uh I think the game will probably end up being pretty close because it is kind of a rivalry but Tennessee sees much better at the line of scrimmage and they've also got a good running back and a good group of wide receivers I'm not real high yet on that Nico I'm about to leave you quarterback that they have gotta see more of them but Tennessee is just clearly a better team and Josh hyp is a better Coach than Billy Napier is and then Kentucky at home so Florida had owned Kentucky for a really long time they had won 30 something in a row against them but that kind of seems to have switched around kuy's now won three in a row against Florida and this is one that I think Florida has a decent chance to get and one that they're going to have to get if they're going to go to a bowl game but I think Kentucky keeps the street going uh so uh Kentucky is much better at the line of scrimm AG than Florida and they're much better coached than Florida and I think that's why they'll win this game so uh then they take a week off before a rivalry game against Georgia this will be a blowout loss for Florida uh I think this will be like a three touchdown win for Georgia so Georgia is the team that got etn the running back from Florida and he's going to have a huge year with them I think and Georgia's quarterback is even better than Merz Carson Beck one of the best quarterbacks in the country likely first round pick next year and Georgia will beat Florida up at the line of scrimmage in this game no chance for Florida in this one and then on the road at Texas this is about as tough as it gets for a two in a row this will be another blowout Wella uh so uh Texas's secondary uh may not be that good so Florida may be able to uh throw some in this game uh and Florida does probably have a pretty good secondary so they may be able to slow down the Texas passing attack a little bit but qu ERS and those wide receivers are just too good to be shut down and they're not going to be able to stop Texas's Run game and Texas will dominate them at the line of scmm and there's no chance for Florida in this game either and then LSU at home so this is one that Florida would have a chance to pull the upset in I had thought about picking them in it but LSU's quarterback nus me I think is pretty good too and their offensive line is so much better than Florida's is and they've got a better group of wide receivers in a really good tight end Mason Taylor coming back uh and uh their linebackers are also much better than Florida's even though I do think Florida has a better secondary than LSU Brian Kelly's a much better Coach than whoever is coaching Florida in this game I kind of doubt that it'll be at Napier but he'll be a much better Coach than uh whatever assistant they've got coaching them uh in this game and I think LSU will win by around 10 points so then they play Old Miss at home which will be another loss uh so uh Miss I think will whip up Florida they've got way too much offense and they've also got a much better defense than Florida does and then they play uh Florida State on the road and the Rivalry game to end the season so this is one that they'll have a little bit of a chance in I think it'll be close because of the Rivalry but Florida State's going to be a a really good rushing team and they've got much better play at the line of scrimmage than Florida does and they're going to have a good defense even though Florida I think is a better passing team I think Florida state is clearly the better team and the better Coach team and will win this game uh so uh my final prediction for Florida is H 3 and N overall and one and seven in the conference and uh I think that their ceiling is probably six and six but a bowl game is very unlikely for them in my opinion and they could even lose on the road at Mississippi State or to Central Florida so I think it's possible they could even go 2 and 10 this year uh but that will be it with this video and please subscribe and thanks for watching and if you want to you can let me know in the comments how
