the victors valant the Conquering Heroes and they call home the big house bathed in Maze and blue welcome to an arbor home of the Michigan Wolverines we have a ranked versus unranked battle coming up here and you know how chaos can ensue if they start smelling an upset as we'll see a squad from the Mountain West the Fresno State Bulldogs taking on the ninth ranked team in the land the Michigan wolver glad to have you with us for EA Sports college football I'm Rees Davis David poock and Jesse Palmer with me in the booth guys we are ready to te it up Fresno State will kick it off and we will be underway he'll bring it out it's Morgan he was looking for some Running Room but not much to be found as he stopped at the the Wolverines offense will get the first possession of the game and here comes the big fella a staple of this aerial attack Jesse and he's a guy they can line up all over the field David there's matchups out there waiting to be taken advantage of yeah and it's so nice to be able to do that it makes it easy to play quarterback when you can feature a guy like this that's fast big and strong white outs all wed up in a bunch give to the running back out across the 30 mark down at the 35 after the 10yd gain see that maze in blue and you expect tough-minded hard noosed running attacks I expect big physical huge linemen that don't like people that are going to move them out of the way and do just this what we did right here move the sticks get first downs on the ground that's who Michigan is nice solid form tackle from this sophomore and offenses want to continue to feature the Run they want balance even if it's not super successful you can take it little bit at a time just to keep that defense honest didn't get much on first down it's second and nine out of the gun the running back has it you want to make sure to maximize those types of runs and he gets it out to the 41 I think they called that knowing they weren't going to hit a home run so why would you call it that well you call it so third down becomes an easier down it's not third and long where I have to pass the football now all options on the table they've got it at the 41 third and trying to keep the chains moving shoots it to the left got him down field and he was on his way gets it all the way to the [Applause] 38 the Wolverines are moving quickly down the [Applause] field off the play fake on first down he's going to run it across the 25 he's got room and a nice pick up on the run and gets down to avoid contact I mean these quarterbacks nowadays can run so fast think about who you've got chasing him defensive linemen those big old defensive tackles defensive ends linebackers they can't catch him because they're faster than them nowadays so much speed so much electricity now with these guys from the Red Zone looking for a man makes the grab it's Marshall that completion gets them inside the 10 and the defense is running out of room to defend and that's why they got to keep running the football man because play action is going to be a big part of this game plan you've got to get this tight end over the middle of the field vertically and give him an opportunity because you just saw how dangerous he is after the catch going going to work on second down in the red zone is still some ground to cover to pick up that first down draged down at the six after a pick up of two not a lot of ground to cover and not much to defend a big third down in the Red Zone they'll try to get it through the air buing some time and he'll finish the run in the end zone touchdown Miss again this defense has their hands full in this game because of what you saw right there this quarterback is one of the fastest players in the entire country and he runs one in they're going to have to do a better job getting hats to him because they know they're going to see the Q run a lot today lining up to tack one more onto that [Applause] lead and the extra point is good and it's seven nothing they put together an 81 yd drive and he got into the house from the six to finish it almost ready to kick it away after scoring the touchdown he'll bring it back from inside his five didn't find any crease in that kickoff coverage and he'll be stopped at the 17 so Fresno State's offense will have its first possession of the game when you have a weapon like this on the outside and a guy in the secondary whose job is to take everything away it's going to be a great matchup guys it's so fun to see how you attack great safeties in the middle of the field are you willing to do that or are you going to try to live on the perimeter this offensive match up will be great yeah normally you'd say receiver versus safety the receiver's going to win this safety though got the speed to run with this guy he's going to make it interesting back there you can barely hear yourself thinking here as they're trying to get this defense off to a good start looking downfield it's Kean it's complete to the left and they're able to force him out of bounds after a short pickup the quick passing game does several things one it doesn't let the pass rush get to you those great defensive linemen the ball's coming out so fast they can't get there and then what else it gets me ahead of the sticks I don't have to worry about getting in Long yardage and predictable situations on Third and short just trying to get enough for the first down and this one will be stopped for no gain this is an interesting decision now for the head coach you're trailing very early in the game there's a lot of football left but you're in a situation where you could go for it here and try and answer after your defense gave up that touchdown on the opening Drive Fresno State will have to ped [Applause] away bringing it back it's Morgan that's a perfect example of not settling for a fair catch pick up whatever yardage you can and help out the offense the give to the back one step W Two Step squeeze this junior knows how to get him on the ground this offensive line better figure out a plan for this deep tackle he is tough to block with one guy you might want to start double teaming him he's going to be a problem moving forward you saw all of his ability on that last play didn't get much on first down it's second and nine looking for space it's Edwards and look this guy has some serious moves and he tried all of them and still didn't get loose and a nice second effort by the back to break a tackle but how about those defensive backs willing to come up stick their face in the fan and make a tackle those are the best run defenses too right it's not just D lineman and linebackers getting all the plays but it's DBS that are willing to not just cover but tackle backs in the open field throws to the wide out oh they really could have used that catch their physical pass defense it brings up a fourth down that's one thing this defense takes a lot of Pride on they like tackling the catch and they like being around the ball that time he was in proximity to knock that thing loose nice physical play and the Wolverines will punt this one away a fairly short distance here toward the sidelines not his best work Fresno State takes over and the offense will go back to work boy three and out last time David they'd like to be more productive this time around yeah in the last Drive nothing really clicked no rhythm got off the field really really quickly they need to put something together here yeah David bad execution on that last drive so they got to take a collective breath and start playing like a unit on this one solid pick up of four on first down it's second and six powerful ball with the run and they'll bring him to the ground after a short gain you know runs like this often times are like a boxer in a boxing match obviously it's not a knockout punch but these are body blows and as the game goes on these small gains are going to turn into longer runs as they come to the line on Third and short from the 43 I wonder if they already know they'll go for it if they don't make it here gives it to the back on the draw that'll get the job done move the chains and they'll Mark the ball at the 45 well if at first you don't succeed try try again right it's been really hard for this offense in this game to run the football but they finally break off a big run there that could be the play they need to really generate momentum and get this run game done the Bulldogs come to the line with a fresh set of downs they'll go to the ground nowhere to run on that when he loses four on the carry I tell you this defensive end not only can he pass rush but he can play the run as well you see him beat the offensive linan there trying to block him get in the back field to make that tackle for loss that was impressive couldn't get him blocked on that last one now it's second and 14 the give to the back a solid pick up there before the defense is able to make the stop hey five to six yards a pop I don't know if you guys are really good at math but that usually equals a first down every couple carries so don't forget about the Run game keep them honest pound that rock Deb Rising as the crowd Gets behind this defense on third down looking to throw it's Keem coming after him he looks that one in nicely I think that's an example there on the out route receiver just has to know where the first down marker is you got to stretch the depth of your route a little bit longer to make sure that once you catch it and you go out of bounds you've already picked up the first he wasn't able to do that and now it sets up fourth and short now on fourth down they'll send out the field goal unit everything will have to be clean from 55 yds away it is good well that kid just showed off his hammer for a leg 50 plus and he did it with ease so they were able to put up a three spot on that last drive and now the kickoff team out there as they prepare to put boot to leather and he hauls it in and everybody's on the edge of their seats he was hoping for something a little more Dynamic that they' get him on the ground at the 20 guys Here Come Those Maze and blue winged helmets on offense they'll start this drive with an end round wide receivers running backs you see them they're interchangeable now you you see each playing different positions and handing the ball to wide receivers like you get here you know wide receivers are getting the ball more and more in space but you're also trying to hand them the football so they can make some plays get more touches especially those good guys not a great game but definitely a good job of getting the wide receiver involved in the Run game from the gun they'll try to impose their will they'll knock him down after a 6yd gain to the 27 listen defense is about energy it's about passion it's about physicality they need a little bit more of that get the guy on the ground you can't let guys break tackles what could have been set up on a long yard situation now it becomes an easier situation because you couldn't get him on the ground give to the big fullback and boy is he close to that first down maybe just a couple of inches short the Wolverines decide to punt it away this will be the second time they've had to kick it away he'll wave for the fair Catch and haul it in at the 25 here comes the Fresno State offense onto the field you want to talk about having a weapon to bail out a drive David that's why kickers are so important after that long field goal and listen important is a relative term we need to make longer passes and get better gains so we don't have to kick long field goals Palmer again on offense and they've got the weapons to do that David they just got to be able to dial those plays up guys have to be able to make them oneon-one to make life easier on this kicker who is so important to this team that's caught it's James and he goes out of bounds after a nice pick up on that one this is a very tough slot receiver to cover if you're a linebacker because of how quick and how Shifty he is you never seem to know which way he's going and he always seems to create an open space for his QB Here Comes This Home crowd as the defense tries to get off the field on third down able to fight his way ahead for a pickup of four but they're still left with a fourth and [Applause] two Fresno State will have to punt this will be the second time they've had to kick it away [Applause] very little will make a crowd hold its breath like a pun return and he brought them to their feet on that one here's the handoff fakes his man out continuing to turn and move it forward and they're closing in on Midfield it's down at the 48 that's a really nice play it's impressive when it's first down and the defense thinks you might be running the football you still can lineup you can get some movement at the point of attack and find a little crease for your running back after the productive first down play it's second and six they go to the ground he breaks a tackle brought down to the ground but he has enough for the first down you put on that winged helmet and the one thing you want to do is establish the running game and no matter who the coaches no matter who the players are it's a tradition it's physicality that's how they built this BR at Michigan and I think no matter who's there it's going to be how they continue to build on that tradition going to run it it's Edwards and I think they'll give him two on that one second and eight coming up and the running back didn't get much there nice job by the defense you can tell they're focused in on this running back on this run game being physical getting knockbacks and limiting his carries after picking up a couple at second and eight quarterback on the keeper that's what you expect from a senior don't give them any extra yards great tackle there they go with the option quarterback keeps it himself and look we've seen this guy on tape guys break these tackles and take it the distance this offense should keep dialing up these option plays don't let that short gain by the QB prevent you from running this scheme in your playbook wide receiver coming across in motion and that's incomplete a Defender all over him knocked the ball to the ground fourth down coming [Applause] up and they're running out the kicker to give it a try this kicker bragged that he can kick an 80 yd field goal he'll settle for a 59 y here no no good guys after the Miss still up by four Fresno State takes over and the offense will go back to work last time David it was one two three kick last drive that three and out sometimes that puts your defense in a bad spot and you got to get a drive together here so you don't wear the defense out I just think David too predictable that last Drive they got to do something here to get this defense on their heels here comes the offense on First and 10 from the 47 used the play fake now to throw unloads to the light out excellent coverage and good use of the hands to knock it away tips deflections those are such good things for defense a lot of times they lead to interceptions and big plays just try to get any kind of disruption you can and after the incompletion on first down this offense looking at second down it'll be a draw they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one and a great job by the linebacker you could tell starting to crowd the line of scrimmage get up there in the line of scrimmage see it diagnose it get in the back field get the running back on the ground for the tackle for the loss better find the ear plugged here comes the noise backing this defense on third down looking to throw it's Keem they're trying to get to him and here's a fumble way behind the line and the defense jumps on it and they get that turnover that's why you got to avoid third and long situations if you're on offense because the defense knows its pass and all these guys are pinning their ears back they're getting up field and you're under so much duress on top of that you give up a fumble that is a huge play for the defense Michigan ready to get that offense rolling again you want to talk about taking the wind out of your sails Drive the ball down the field and miss the field goal David you know what don't leave it up to kickers execute better offensively I think hit the afterburners kid and he eluded the defense and he'll take it all the way touchdown Wolverines you're not going to keep the lid on this guy forever sooner or later he's going to get loose he is he's a bad mother shut your mouth I mean this dude can make plays that's why you keep feeding to him cuz at some point he's going to break it loose and make a huge J they'll try to add another to their lead and the extra point is good and they have an 11-point lead they couldn't draw up a drive better than that just gashed him for the big play in the running game one snap one touchdown they're just about ready to kick it away he'll take the return and try to improve the field position and the coverage team able to wrestle in down here comes the Fresno State offense onto the field that fumble in plus territory just ruined that last Drive David yeah and those are frustrating when you got the offense moving a little bit and you put that thing on the Jesse but move on reload forget about it at the end of the day it's just fundamental football right they practice it all week five points of pressure every ball carrier has to have it they just got to do a better job moving forward after getting knocked back to open this drive it's second and 12 give to the back he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple yeah I think the running back kind of went red on that last running play I'm not sure it was designed to go that direction he tried to make it happen on his own unfortunately ended up losing yards we reached the end of the period and Michigan has the lead they largely dominated this first quarter as indicated by the stats [Applause] just about ready to get things started here in the second we'll see if they continue to flex that muscle on Third and long hoping to throw beyond the sticks safe completion on the screen they play that screen nicely he tried to find his way to the marker but it'll be fourth down he just didn't have a chance to get loose and make his way to that first down marker I think fans get upset sometimes like run your route past the sticks so we get get the first down but nice job by the defense understanding where the sticks were and forcing the fourth down fourth down and the punt team sends it the other way running it back it's Morgan he was able to get that ball up to the 48 yd line before he stopped on the return and here comes the Michigan offense back on the field Jesse looking to take it down the field for back to back touchdowns think it's really important for them moving forward too to have a lot of balance right you want to be able to keep keep this defense guessing pul yeah and you got me searching for answers after that last drive you stack another drive on top of this their defense's heads are going to be spinning all over the place they'll line up for a second down play they'll give it to the back tackle is made but not until he gets the first down it's a nice run there to get the first down I got to tell you I'm impressed with the stable and the weapons this offense has a lot of different guys can touch the football in a variety of ways but they've been running it very very well in this game so far they'll snap this one from the 42 it's first and 10 they're going to ride this running back they pick up half of it it'll be second and five I know that wasn't a big huge play and everybody's not excited the fans aren't going crazy but those are the plays that in the fourth quarter matter a lot again you tackle my back making you feel the physicality of the football game throughout so you get tired and get worn down in the fourth [Applause] quarter off the play fake he uncs one deep and he makes the catch inside the 10 he's brought down but he's got him inside the 10 first and goal from the e man if I'm a defense I got to find a way to get some more pressure on the quarterback or disrupt their timing and their rhythm I can't give him these big chunk plays through the air I got to be maybe a little bit more aggressive or do something a little bit different and that big Gainer on the last one has him ready to go from inside the [Applause] 10 and he rolls into the house touchdown Michigan wow this offense they have a lot of faith in this running back knowing if they get down into this area of the field he can get it done and he can answer the Bell two rushing touchdowns already for this [Applause] offense now they'll line up for what they hope is automatic and the extra Point makes it a 213 lead a very efficient five-way scoring drive and it was capped off with the eight- yd run about to kick it away after scoring the touchdown looks like he's going to try to return it nice job by the kickoff team everybody stayed in their lanes and they'll stop him at the 16 Fresno State takes over and the offense will go back to work unloads quickly he's brought down solid pickup but a little bit short of the first down and there you see the bind that the RPO play can put a defender in that linebacker had to make a decision was the running back going to get the ball he thought so so he bit up and that allowed the slant to be thrown in behind Fresno State right back to the [Applause] line from the gun running back on the move just enough there to get it to the 25 a pick up of two and sticking to the run I tell you what a lot of teams that are really good are really stubborn and they continue to run the football even with little success so this offense is going to continue to focus on running the football you can tell they'll try to move the chains on Third and short from the [Applause] 25 they'll try to run for it that just never had a chance as they controlled the middle of the field and stopped him in the back field on third down and what you talk about on defense is speed his penetration getting in the back field making something happen and you could tell they got in there so quick the offense couldn't recover couldn't do anything with them nice job getting the tackle for a loss fourth down and the punt team sends it the other way a fair catch taken just inside the 40 yd line guys Here Come Those Maze and blue winged helmets on offense from the gun the running back has it they can rely on this guy to pick up solid yardage when they need it and he's out to the 43 nice run there on first down you know this is a running back that gets better as the game goes on so they're going to want to make sure they keep feeding him the football let him get lathered up solid pick up of four on first down it's second and six back to pass it's orgie takes easy completion the defense wouldn't let him loose and even though it's a completion they lost yardage now on offense you're trying to get your running back involved here in the passing game and obviously no success on that play defense seemed like they were aware of it and all of a sudden you've set yourself up in a tough position here on third now facing a third and long from the gun wants to pass that's caught it's Edwards drills him with the stiff arm he run out of bounds but not before turning in a big pick up and moving the sticks for a first down this is exactly why third down is practiced every single day third and short third and medium third and long it's money down for a reason you got to lock in great success by the offense so far on third down and the Wolverines have it with a first 10 used the play fake now to throw just had to get rid of that one good job to fight another play and that's a really good decision by the quarterback don't take the sack throw the ball away now listen we can debate whether that was intentional grounding or not because he's still in the pocket I'm not sure that that's not classified as grounding but they didn't call it so you know what nice throw away QB off play action oh he's ready to take a shot he got it can white cross the plane to get the six but they'll have the first down as a defense you don't want to give up big plays you did there but the good thing is you kept him out of the end zone now you got a chance to make a goal line stand get some momentum back get the ball back to your offense the Wolverines trying to get a touchdown on first and goal they'll try to get it in with the run and this was just a low man wins battle right on the doorstep of the goal line and the defense comes up with the stop no doubt offense wants to keep running the football to win this game but I'm wondering if they're starting to go to the well too often they got to start showing some new wrinkles here in the second half they'll try it again from the one on second and goal tries again to get it in they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one and with the stuff there Jesse on second down this little third to midrange you got two downs what do you thinking here maybe getting your quarterback out on the perimeter and giving him a run pass option see if you can get the defense in a bond third and goal where the strong come through try to barge their way in nowhere to run on that when he loses four on the carry well after getting stuffed on that run you now got fourth down I'm not into chasing points this early in the game I think you just take the field goal you try to pay this drive off and this opportunity to put something on the board David well and nowadays you have these analytical cards and the coaches they literally look at every situation is it more advantageous to go for it or kick it that's how they'll make this decision field goal is good and now the lead is even bigger [Applause] that lead just keeps getting fatter in this kickoff team doing a little running on the move from inside is five just never had a chance to shake loose and he'll be brought down at the 24 here comes the Fresno State offense onto the field trailing by three touchdowns if you're going to get back in it David the time to start is right now got to start now defense giving up points on that last possession again the offense is going to have to score and Jesse probably score pretty quick yeah you got to go Tempo you're going to have to try to fit in as many plays as you can throughout the rest of this game but I think more than that you got to eliminate the negative plays no more penalties and no more turnovers hand off from the gun he's dropped behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three that back had absolutely nowhere to run the football actually is he counting I think he's counting to make sure there's only 11 guys on defense wow this offense is doing nothing they've already punted four times in staring at the possibility of a fifth on third third and long you'll have to turn it loose deep that friends is a busted play incomplete third and long situations are really hard to convert the defense knows it's going to be pass the pass rushers are getting up field you're under pressure you don't have timing and as a result now fourth in Fresno State will have to punt it away they've been busy out there to punt for the fifth time today yet another punt on the way got to make sure that hamstring stays loose he's been busy he was hoping for a little more Running Room but they're able to get him down at the 45 Michigan ready to get that offense rolling again the give to the lone running back really nice stop there from this senior leader now that's what you're trying to do is a defense limit those damages when they run the football get them on the ground short gains to set your defense for positive situations down the road after the three- yd pickup they come to the line Second and seven some misdirection with the counter and a nice solid pick up there before the defense wrestles him to the ground I love teams that make it a priority to run the football and they have today another good run by this running back he's been doing it all night over a 100 yards on the day really really good night for this young man will they keep it on the ground again here on third down the give to the big fullback and the Wolverines get up to move the chains so far everything just seemed to work for this offense when they wanted to run the football regardless of what down and distance it is they're able to get it done up front getting a lot of push and these backs are finding the holes the Wolverines have it with a first and 10 they'll run it out of the shotgun hey he'll pick up one it brings up second and nine and you want to run the football that's okay you'll take some of these but if they start to add up down the road obviously you might want to think about airing it out a little bit didn't get much on first down it's second and nine the give to the tail back good solid pick up there now they can start to smell it with a first down 31 those who stay will be Champions so said Bo shim Beckler and those who keep it on the ground churn out first downs yeah it's it's because it's a way of life right it's that physicality it's going to be hard in practice all week when you're at Michigan it's going to be grind it's going to be physical that's who they are they won't compromise and if you get to stick around here recently a lot of success too able to pick his way forward for a decent game before the defense gets him down a lot of times you have these guys Star these wide they're just they're game Breakers and you want to find ways to give them the football whether it be screens whether it be jet sweeps just find ways to give them the football cuz he can get five yards in a hurry when you need those plays especially when you want to mix it up on the defense and keep them guessing now they're going to throw it looking for the end zone and he's got it touchdown Wolverine well the defense is going to have to find an answer for this tight end down in the end zone you cannot allow that that guy that much [Applause] space lining up to tack one more onto that lead the kick is up and good and one more on the lead that drive covered 55 yds for the score and they finished it off needing just a few inches and going up top to get it lining up to cover the kick after that touchdown [Applause] drive here he comes from inside his own five and the returner will be brought down Fresno State takes over and the offense will go back to work their Drive chart is starting to look a little monotonous punt punt punt David and their defense is starting to get a little frustrated too they just keep putting me back on the field possession after possession Jesse this offense needs to get their heads out of there you know what the punter's on the sideline with the oxygen mask right now he's been playing so much he's not used to this this offense they just got to stay on the field they've got to put a drive together and get some balance going running and throwing the ball now they'll run the draw the 10 got it out to the 14 that's a gain of five and often times running backs love draw plays because there's less traffic in front of them the offensive line is selling pass the quarterback's selling pass they don't get the handoff until the very last possible second so the D Line's rushed away up field and now it's so much easier for these backs to find their holes and pick their Lanes looking for a man it's Keem fires to the middle he makes a catch and he'll have enough for the first first down at the 42 hey nice job by the offense there attacking the middle of the field excellent route finding the soft spot in the defense nice job by the quarterback putting it right on his guy finally this offense starting to shake the cobwebs and get things moving it's first and 10 Ed the play fake now to throw fires to the right and he just flat dropped it I think he wanted to run before he secured it well it doesn't get any more open than that good read by the quarterback he was looking for his tight end wide open on the play man you got to make the catch after the misfire now on second down running it to the right a strong tackle and wrap up from the junior man that D tackle is a freak athlete did you see him come out of his stance and beat the offensive line L getting to the running back catlike quickness the D thinking bring some heat on Third and long from the 44 from the gun wants to pass he makes the connection he gets it oh so close to the first down marker but I think he's going to be a touch short one of the things I love about this defense is they just have such great awareness and they're always communicating they understand stood the down and distance they knew exactly what they needed to do to make the tackle to force the punt that is so well done Fresno State will have to punt they're up to a half dozen kicks today and the punt will hit at the seven and they can't Corral it it goes into the end zone it'll come out to the 20 they'll run it from the gun a knock him down after a gain of three to the 23 I'll tell you this is a running back who's very very dangerous and the defense did a good job getting him down there but they got to do a great job gang tackling because this is a guy that can break tackles and turn those types of plays into home runs got three on first down it's second and seven he'll do it himself got enough for the first down and wants more slammed to the ground but not before he gets the first down we've reached a two-minute warning and they will try to build on what is already been a dominant first half performance and they'll line up from the 31 on first down scanning the field it's orgy pocket starts to collapse quickly to the tie end and that was some kind of collision between a couple of B bodies there and he stopped from getting the first down nice quick throw there and it's so important for quarterbacks to be able to find a rhythm and to be comfortable and confident you want to just get the ball out quickly make it an accurate and easy throw and you could tell that these two guys they rep that play in practice all the time and it's now showing up here on game day he tosses one high and deep down the left side and this will be caught at the 30 touchdown m Michigan and once he got away from the KNE they had no shot at catching it and QB's love their big tight ends and especially guys that can do such great things after the catch he catches it dang Palmer he looks like a dag on receiver after he catches the football what a matchup nightmare too man I mean he's just too big for DBS to cover and he's too fast for linebackers to cover if find this QB I'm looking that guy's way a lot more often in this one Pat unit on the field and with the extra point they pushed the lead out a little further quick work on that scoring drive just four plays and they finish the drive with a 64 yd scoring toss about to kick it off after punch get in for the [Applause] touchdown on the run from inside his own five didn't find any crease in that kickoff coverage and he'll be stopped at the 17 here comes the Fresno State offense onto the field he'll start this drive firing finds the tight end and that corner came in hot despite knowing that he was giving up some siid I'll say this man in college football you see a lot of B tacking didn't see it right there that was an awesome job first off being there at the point of attack once the tight end made the catch there was no doubt he was going down great job form tackle back to throw it's ke and the pass is incomplete thanks to a big hit well that looked like it was going to be a completion but how about the defender making the hit and forcing the incompletion we'll see if they go back to the air after the incompletion it's third and five takes it from the gun on third down he's got an open man a timeout is called as this offense tries to find a way to get more points on the board before the half Fresno State back to work with the fresh set of [Applause] downs comes out throwing on first down it's caught down and they exploited that soft spot and they get it down to the 35 we' got a timeout here late in the first half and they'll try to get more points on the board before the break they'll snap it on first down from the 35 he wants to throw complete to the left now he's got it all the way down to the 21 yd line and they are threatening on first down and I love the awareness by the wide receiver on that play because CU I'm not sure that route was supposed to be that deep you got to wonder if the receiver decided maybe to adjust the route a little bit to make sure that he got the first down they'll throw it on first down pass is incomplete and we dwindle down to S seconds that's a ball that this offense should be able to complete they had the coverage they wanted receiver ran on the route just an inaccurate throw by the quarterback time dwindling away as they try to put points on the board right before the half on second down they'll take to the air he finds his man they'll immediately call timeout waning seconds of the first half and they'll try to tack on a three before they head to the locker room after finishing a drive with a field goal earlier this one will be a 33 yd attempt it is perfect and the field goal to end the half takes us to halftime we played two quarters here time to go to Kevin Connors in our halim update guys tough to beat the pageantry and quality of play so far today in an arbor talk about a first half from that dude out of the back field he's been a total Game Changer and how many top plays moments have we seen on Miss tackles Alone video game moves from one of the shiftiest players in all of college football with that said let's send it back to the fellas in the booth at Michigan stadium and the Wolverines will try to kick this one deep to get things underway in the second half he'll start the return inside as five nice job by the kickoff team everybody stayed in their lanes and they'll stop him at the 16 Fresno State takes over and the offense will go back to work they'll open this third quarter with a run they'll knock him down after a pick up of one to the 18 the Run game just has not been working for this offense all game long we saw it on that last play as well just not getting enough push up front on the offensive line to haven't been physical didn't get much on first down it's second and nine he'll try to pop the draw he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple it's been that kind of day for this offense right it seems like anything they're dialing up just simply isn't working but at this point David I don't know if it's even worth trying to run the ball probably not you're getting destroyed right now nothing has gone your way and when you're down this much I I think the running game is used sporadically not as a staple let's throw this football around and see what can happen find the man on the left and chunk plays are the name of the game and they get one here before the defense finally makes the stop ree you and I were talking about this before the game how is this defense going to be able to deal with all the speed they have offensively you saw them just rip off a big play and Jesse now their head spinning just a little bit give up a big chunk play and it's right back at him got his man quickly you'll take four yards on first down every time second and six he's just winning that match up in the slot every time and when you put him in the slot Reese's closer to the quarterback it's an easier throw we can run in we can run out and really take advantage of his versatility of the guy that slot position let's see what they've got on second down leaves it with the running back he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple awesome job up front by this defensive line being so good at the point of attack back and eating blocks eating some double teams that allows these linebackers to run free unencumbered and get to the football even if they don't convert picking up a few would give them a decision to make on fourth down is third and long from the 45 and his throw is incomplete well after struggling so much in the first half you thought they would have made some adjustments here at halftime to see if they can open up this passing game but early on in the second half you're just not really able to get that done incompletion on third down in your own end you're expecting them to punt Fresno State will have to punt it away a fairly short distance here toward the sidelines not his best work and here comes the Michigan offense back on the field this has been exactly the way you draw things up David the offense has really been moving the football and it's been great execution they've done exactly what they wanted to do build the lead now Palmer is a different animal now you got to protect it can tell they were paying attention in practice this week in the film room because they have gone out everybody right now on the same page after the three- yd pickup they come to the line Second and seven now the play fake can't make the connection in the defense putting on the heat and forcing the incompletion Ball's at the 29 defense can taste getting off the field it's third and long back to throw it's orgy fires to the big fella Midfield he's got R and they'll do more than move the change they'll move that thing more than 30 yard down the field before he's finally stopped as a defense so hard covering this guy because of his frame you're not really going to match up but this guy's also got some Wheels the hard part is bringing him down after the catch this guy's like a giant giraffe you're just Lions hanging on his neck trying to drag him to the ground not easy to do off the play fake on first down to throw wide open downfield and they'll finally get him down after a terrific pickup and that's why quarterbacks take their offensive lines out for all you can eat wings clean pocket able to step up scan the entire field and pick the open receiv receiv the Wolverines are marching down the field from the Red Zone looking for a space unleashes one deep touchdown Wolverine and the punishment has been extended and this quarterback really does a great great job of seeing the defense and seeing what kind of coverage they're in and I think when this offense goes empty and they spread the defense out it just makes it so much more simple for the QB to see what the defense is doing pre- snap and then post Snap you could tell he's playing in a great Rhythm right now because he's seeing the field and these empty sets are really helping him out they'll try to add another to their lead and with that extra point the lead remains in the gargantuan category a very efficient five playay scoring drive and they close the deal with a 16 yd throw for the touchdown the kickoff team out there and ready to [Applause] go and he'll bring it out of the end zone not nearly as much as he' hoped when he brought it out of the end zone he'll be stopped at the 15 here comes the Fresno State offense onto the field leaves it with the back nudges ahead for one out to the [Applause] 16 didn't get much on first down it's second and nine back to pass it's Keem going to try to pop one on the screen they make the stop right there good pickup it's still short of the first down yeah and he didn't get a big gain you you want to call that play and probably want to get more yards but you could tell that was super close from seriously busting loose nice job running the screen getting the ball to your playmaker if he could just make one more guy miss that might have been huge they're going to try to throw for it on third down got it in the middle it's Moss there to make the tackle but the big throw is good enough to give them a first down and on that third and short I don't think he was unhappy to see that zone nope was a great job by the offense hey see where the holes in the zone are sit down you only need a little bit of yards on this third down get the conversion move the sticks off the play fake on first down to throw catch in the middle it's Moss defense caught out of position and they get him down finally at the 38 and that's why the Bullet Pass is so important sometimes these defenses they don't give you big Windows to throw into and you want to take that chance but you cannot lob that football down the field and get it in there nice use of the Bullet Pass my friend and the Bulldogs with the first and 10 they've got the screen set up he makes the Stop and a nice pick up there on first down leaves him in second and manageable they were able to make the comption but he had to pick his way for just a little bit needed a little more help to Spring him for some yardage yeah if you're going to have success when you throw it outside like that you're going to need some more blocking and better blocking downfield give the defense credit though they were able to rally and made a tackle from the gun running back gets to give trying to pound their way forward he picks up a couple to the 31 [Applause] line is set on third down he'll try to pick it up on the ground and they did not let him get to that first down line it'll bring up a call here and this field goal team has been busy this kicker comes out for the third time tonight he's going to have to get into this one a little bit from 47 yds away he's got it showing off that big leg from 47 yd out they'll kick it away after putting up a field goal on that last drive and he takes this from inside the five not a lot of space to be found good Hustle by the coverage team and they stop him at the 21 guys Here Come Those Maze and blue winged helmets on offense to the ground with the back they'll knock him down after a 6yd gain to the 27 when you're a defense it is stop the run first that is your first responsibility it makes the whole game easy and right now they got it going on the ground the defense is going to have to change something up these little tiny Dink and dunk Dink and dunk you keep doing this they'll go all the way down the field on you so you might want to get a little bit more aggressive On The Run it's Edwards defense fills those gaps he's got one to the 28 here they come trying to convert a third and short from the 28 trying to pick it up on the ground and the Wolverines get enough for the first down this is a guy that can find you the hidden yardage that play he just pushes the pile to get that first down they'll snap this one from the 32 it's first down they'll try the Run slams ahead for a yard out to the 33 and these defensive tackles just people they swallow human beings when you get near them they're so big so strong those guys those running backs coming they just need a m they put one mid on a running back and he usually falls to the ground just because of their sheer mass and strength didn't get much on first down it's second and nine the give out of the gun good job running tough and behind his pads as he gets up to the 38 yd line well that didn't bust for a long one but now third down becomes very manageable it's not third in eternity now the whole Playbook short passing game long passing game all of it's available Bunch formation trying to confuse the secondary dropping back it's orgy he'll try to do it himself turns it on to Midfield and he scoots his way to the first down and then slides to avoid the hit man this is an offense that's going to find a way to generate explosive plays because of their Playmakers at the skill spots but how about this speed by this guy and his ability on third down to extend scramble and go get a big pickup in chunk of yards for his offense they've got him looking run but they're going to throw it fires to the tight end excellent job working through the air they're finding a hole in that defense and picking up a first down really good job working through his progression you get it to him quickly and the big tight end has a chance to run a little and and a really good job by the QB throwing an accurate throw I I got to hit those guys on the Move On The Run so they can do this they can catch the football get up field and chew up some extra yards relying on that running game and it works for about three yards to the 31 you know it's so important for offenses to want to keep third Downs manageable the way you do that is by having success like that running the football on first down got three on first down it's second and seven running back searching for a hole they'll get him on the ground after a pick up of three to the [Music] 28 third and short from the 28 let's see if this is four down territory or if they just pick up the first here he's looking to throw that pass is incomplete third and short in college football today you see so much more pass than you used to the offense stays aggressive and I think they stay aggressive because they know they're in field goal range they got that three in their back pocket it's wise not to be too greedy and they'll go ahead and send out the field goal unit he's going to try to punch one through from 45 yds away that thing would have hit a string in the middle of the uprights perfect and they just tack on a little more to this gargantuan [Applause] lead they're really starting to extend that lead as they get ready to kick it away again and he'll return it and try to get behind his blockers rolling the dice to bring it out of the end zone did not work out as he stopped at the 13 he wants to start this drive with a pass and he just threw that one away safe move didn't see anything Live to play another play and now on second down for this offense misfired on the last play they'll go back to the air and he drops it just a little too slippery in the hands hopefully that's not going to affect the quarterback's confidence going back to this guy later that was a catch he should have made he dropped it let's see what the QB does moving forward not exactly the ideal situation for this offense third and long backed up inside their 20 looking for a man it's ke fires to the wide out couldn't quite haul it in they almost had their first pick here late in the game oh and you'd love to have that playback if you're that Defender third down and you almost pick that off that's a catch you need to make if he catches that that might be pick six Fresno State will have to punt they'll look to pin him deep he'll bring it back it's Morgan not able to pop the big return but they've got the ball back and ready to go with a fresh possession Michigan ready to get that offense rolling again they kicked a field goal on the last Drive Jesse they've got the lead don't make a dumb mistake but maintain your aggressive play calling yeah no doubt I think it's the play caller right now just taking a look at that script he's got in front of him and finding out where my play ERS who can we take advantage of on this defense to get a touchdown here B yeah and just keep moving the ball down the field just execute a little bit better in the Red Zone there's no need to panic we're moving the football and we got the lead using his legs it's Edwards and they try the middle of this defense and that is not happening looks as if we have an injury on that last play and we'll take a break to check him out third down and they'll to get the ball to the 38 ydd line from the gun wants to pass he's got it and this defense is a half a beat behind they just can't quite keep up they've got it down to the 21 and man this quarterback has had a day with that pass he goes over 300 yards on the day really nice job executing putting up some yards today pretty good day for the young man the woles Marines getting set on First and 10 they'll leave it with him and he goes out of bounds after coming up with positive yardage there keep pounding away at this defense and make them play the run if you can get this many a chunk they're going to have to commit more guys to the Box more guys to the run then you open it up for the passing game operating in the Red Zone here on second down back to throw it's orgy he's got it and still on his feet takes it all the way down to the four after making the grab and there're set up I don't know who on defense is going to cover this guy honestly he could be a problem for this defense over the middle of the field in the passing and the Wolverines trying to cash it in on First and goal they'll try to get it in with the Run he steps and powers and works his way they finally get him down at the two they're strong and they're scw defensive tackles they're strong there's such big jokers in the Middle where they just lock out those offensive linemen and running backs listen they don't have much of a chance when you got that 300 plus pound guy grabbing you around the shoulder pad you tend to go to the ground touchdown Michigan and the beat down has ensued offense gets the job done again you want to build that cushion as we get deeper into the second half man it makes it easy doesn't it you start getting up by a couple possessions making the offense very predictable on the other side great job by the offense extending their lead ling up to add another and the extra point just TS a little bit more onto this huge lead so they started that drive barely into opponent's territory and went 48 yards and finished to deal with the short touchdown run from the [Applause] two he'll bring it back back from inside his five nice job executing all of the assignments as they put a stop to that return at the 22 Fresno State takes over and the offense will go back to work that last Drive fizzled out Jesse they had to punt it yeah they did and David they're just going to have to do a better job this time around erasing the mental mistakes and just trying to solve the defensive riddle understanding what they're trying to do to you and attack them well this is a defense that we know takes tons of pride St in the Run that's where it all starts and ends with them and you saw a great effort on that last play got stuffed on first down it's second and 10 dropping back it's Keem gets it out quickly and good coverage by the defense just a short gain using him out of the slot he has just been Unstoppable and I love putting Dynamic athletes in the slot that I can move around that I can put in motion that I can I can make him go in out I can put him off the ball so you can't get hands on him and they've really featured this guy today third down play from the gun oh they really could have used that catch their physical pass defense it brings up a fourth down nice job in coverage on that third and short defensively taking all the throws and options away for the quarterback and now we're setting up fourth down Fresno State will have to pun it away let's see if can help the coverage team out with this one he'll be content with the field position making the fair catch right around the 30 yd line and here comes the Michigan offense back on the field give to the running back at the 40 there he goes and he's to the 48 yd line that'll be good enough for a first down and running backs are so good so talented so if you see nowadays they really have the ability to make you miss run you over unbelievable effort nice job you keep that going you're going to be hard to stop as they get set to snap it just about to reach the end of the quarter off play action on first down quarterback on the Move still looking he'll pull it down and run and he has a solid gain on the play before sliding we reached the end of the period and Michigan has the lead this has been a complete obliteration so far as the third quarter stats will show you so will the Beatdown continue or is this a comeback for the ages in store we'll see as we start the fourth dropping back it's orgy can't quite make the connection there might have let him a little too much that last incomplete pass has him staring at a third and three they move the tight end all over they'll stick to the ground looking for the marker putting together a real scoring threat here as they pick up the first down at the 36 well they get another big run for a first down and if you're on offense you love the way your offensive line is blocking early in this game they are getting tremendous movement and they're making life pretty easy for these running backs right now they'll ride the hot hand and he's brought down after a nice game offense has a huge lead right now in the fourth quarter and they're just going to run this football to try to ice the game being more dominant being more physical at the point of attack the Wolverines come to the line with a new set of downs they think they can impose their will here with the run to the right knocked down after a pick up of six and they're trying to impose their will in the Red Zone balls at the 13 and a nice job by the running back finding space getting downhill making the good run great job finishing with his PS going to work in the Red Zone they can pick up the first down without getting it into the end zone handoff to the lone back not much Running Room he's got one down to the 12 boy they'd love to pick up this conversion and go to work with a first and goal wide receiver shows motion they'll try to pick up the first through the air got it so close to that end zone he can almost taste it but it'll be first and goal for this offense defenses are put in such a tough spot when offense is getting third and short because the whole Playbook is open and they go with the pass I love it they sneak the pass in there nice success great job by the quarterback getting rid of the football getting the first down now set up first and goal trying to pound it in touchdown Wolverines and the Ping has started points points and more points this offense has had their way they just keep their foot on the gas keep putting up points keep putting up touchdowns and you know what this is one of those stats days you look back and you're like that guy had 12 touchdowns in the well four or five of them might have been in this game on to attempt the try and with the extra point the lead is even bigger a 69 yd touchdown drive and they capped it off with a one yd punch almost ready to kick it away after scoring the [Applause] touchdown on the move from inside is five he was looking for some Running Room but not much to be found as he stopped at the here comes the Fresno State offense onto the field David the punter got some work last time they'd like to keep him on the sidelines in this drive oh look out there he goes and he was loose and not stopped until he gets to the 47 yard line the offense has struggled they're not going to win this game but trust me this coaching staff is still trying to find things to build off of for next week and after an explosive play like that maybe they can generate just a little bit bit of momentum and gain a little bit of confidence that they can keep coaching up heading into their next game trying to get to it they'll run the screen not a whole lot of room there on that screen pass as it just never developed those screen place you really want to sell it get it to your running back and get him to the second level get him running full head of steam on a safety on a linebacker he almost got going but just got tackled before he could really do any damage wants to throw it's Keane using the back as a receiver on the screen didn't have much room to run and not a whole lot of help short gain there and still plenty of ground to cover for the first down screen pass just not working there and you figure at this point of the game trailing you're going to have to be more aggressive and take some shots you usually run screen passes when you think there's going to be a blitz but because the defense has the lead they're just sitting back and playing big zones they keep attacking through the air a strike downfield all the way down to the 25 yd line they move the sticks it's first down when you run those routes those curl routes just like that those DBS are going to break when you go to throw the football so you better put that thing on a line and the QB did there put on a line great job great catch first down Fresno State moving it quickly down the field out of the gun they'll run it inside they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one the number one goal for this defense coming into this game was shut this running back down and I got to be honest there were a lot of people on the outside didn't think they could get it done but they're proving everybody wrong tremendous effort they're playing with a chip on their shoulder this guy's one of the best in the nation he's had zero impact in this game on second down he'll fire grabbed in the back field it's moss and he's able to shed one tackle and gets a pretty good pick up and I love the idea of getting this guy screen throws because of his ability after the catch so nice job getting downfield getting a hat on hat and giving him a tunnel to run through Fresno State working from the Red Zone here's the snap looking to throw didn't put much on that one and it's incomplete well a lot of things haven't gone right for him you saw an incompletion right there it's been offense it's been defense they just haven't been able to click and get into a rhythm here and now they're playing catch up and you know they're going to be throwing at each and every play here in the fourth quarter this field goal unit getting some serious run they've already been out there three times a kicker will try it again splits the uprights right down the middle and they'll put three on the board but the deficit remains huge and I know a lot of people are scratching their heads why they Tred to kick that field goal you're in the fourth quarter you're down Bol load of points a field goal isn't going to do it if you want to win this game you need touchdowns I would anticipate for every possession they get from here on out man you've got to be way more aggressive after putting up the field goal they're set to kick it away coming out with it it's Morgan didn't find any crease in that kickoff coverage and he'll be stopped at the 17 guys Here Come Those Maze and blue winged helmets on offense if you like oldfashioned grinded up run over them football that last touchdown Drive was for you Jesse that was impressive man great blocking up front and tough physical running by these ball carriers though and now you wonder how the defense responds like are they going to get way more aggressive to try to stop the run I got to do something to break the rhythm of that running game halfway there on first down it's second and five back to the ground with the running back picks his way and gets four out to the 27 I think you run that play on second down knowing it's going to make Third Down Easy you're not trying to hit a home run you don't need the big play right now now you know third down everything's on the table everything's available High success rate now will try to move the chains on Third and short from the 27 to the ground to try to pick up the first they get him on the ground but not before he gets enough for the first down man down on the play as the officials take a break to let him be checked out and the Wolverines will have it first and 10 it's reverse he's dropped behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three great discipline by the backside of the defense this is my Gap this is where I'm supposed to be ball goes away so be it I got to stay home stays home makes a great play for a loss last play was a near disaster now dealing with second and 13 just when they're looking run now up top qu back now breaking the field and he avoids the hit and slides after the short gain it's just so nice to have a QB under Center nowadays in football you can trust these guys you put so much on their plate and you tell them go get positive yards when it's there and a lot of these guys are such great athletes they do it with ease third down conversions are a huge stat and this one would be a doy if they can pull it off looking for a physical attack from the gun what a good run there he has enough for the first down and you want to dominate the football game like these guys have all day dominate the line of scrimmage you know turn and hand the ball off to your running back it's a good recipe it makes every quarterback better it makes every OC better just turn hand the football off especially when you're winning the ball game they have just blooded their nose on this drive all on the ground it's first and 10 they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one it's going to be tough sledding for the offense here they're trying to ice this game by running the football and bleeding the clock they've got a pretty good lead here late in the game but the defense knows the run's coming right so they're going to be loading the line of scrimmage getting stops like what they just did be interesting to see what the offense does on this next one the offense showing motion from the tight end trying to get a read on the D makes the grab it's Mo they make the stop after the catch and still some work to do to pick up that first down I love offenses and quarterbacks that are willing to take the easy stuff take those easy throws that are guaranteed to get positive yards yeah I'm going to take big shots down the field too but don't forget it's easier to pick up second and five third and five than it is when we start getting those long yard situations they'll move the chains good execution on third down they've got it at the 41 got to have short area quickness that running back there doing what it takes to make sure he got that first down they have a first down at the 41 yd line they'll give it to him again shakes off a tackler he'll give him a couple on that one second and eight coming up that's a really good job by the defense wrapping them up getting them on the ground take away that run game make him onedimensional put him in passing situations really good job by the defense picked up two yards on that last one they need eight on second down the give to the back running with power and he showed off that stiff arm for a nice pick up on the play listen you you got to be able to know what play to call and what hole to go through like the line blocks for a certain hole good job getting through the hole getting what was blocked getting a nice positive gain making your situation really good on the next down long drive continues as the offense keeps working the ball down the field grabbed over the middle it's Morgan touchdown Michigan and The Stomping has commenced and this always is the debate of where you fall it's your job to stop me or I should get conserved because this offense obviously has had themselves a day and apparently their day is not over they're going to continue to keep scoring and the defense better do something about it they'll try to attack one more on their score and with that extra point the lead remains in the gargantuan category they put it in the end zone with a 12 place scoring drive and they cap it off with a 32 yd touchdown pass they're lining up to boot it [Applause] away here he comes from inside his own five he was looking for some Running Room but not much to be found as he stopped at the 18 Fresno State takes over in the offense will go back to work guys that last trip a little disappointing having to take the three yeah I think you see so many offenses talk about getting yards and the tempo and all the stuff they do there's a nice job moving the football but they got to get in the end zone this time yeah and I think to do that they just got to be more physical at the point of attack get some push up front they need to be the best running team in this game to win right on target with that last pass now it's second and medium looking downfield it's Keem feeling some heat trying to make magic on the scramble he is going nowhere stop at the line of scrimmage he was trying to push it down field he was looking for a receiver trying to make a play CH tell the pressure started to get to him a little bit nowhere to go with the football and just fights back to the line of scrimmage they line up with some serious work to do if they want to convert this one on Third and long trying to have a big completion here nice pitch and catch there and they'll have enough for the first down well offensively they knew they were going to have some matchups they could take advantage of in this one and all of a sudden this quarterback has now over 300 yards passing in the game defensively David he has got them on their heels and he's been showing you a little bit of everything he can throw it all over the field to all different receivers to his tight ends to his running backs really has the ability to spread it around and now over 300 yards still some time left and he can put up even bigger numbers and heck go chase some awards man get some postseason rewards get an All-American just put up a day the Bulldogs look to keep this drive humming wants to throw on first down unloads it left all kinds of room to throw that one in there they make the tackle at the 36 but they're in plus territory now with the 15yd pickup Fresno State back to work with a fresh set of downs they want to just keep throwing it he's got his man and a good job in coverage there as they stop it after just a few you just got the feeling this defense is going to make it hard on them right they've got the lead it's late and they're going to try to tackle everybody in bounds offense is going to have to really work for this and be smart you got to attack the sidelines you to throw first downs you got to keep this thing moving vertically down the field they're about to run a dirty half dozen plays on this drive to the air it's ke finds his big tight end they make the stop but this passing game does some damage and they move the sticks with the first down you know tight ends are such matchup nightmares and problems for defense they're to big for DBS to cover and they're too fast for linebackers to cover you saw it right there they've moved to the 16 it's first and 10 can't make the grab as he was looking for his man right at the goal line and it's just been that kind of day for this quarterback in this offense guys they have never been able to get into a rhythm throwing the football timing's been off accuracy hasn't been great we've seen some drops just not in sync that's why they find themselves trailing by a lot right here l late in the game on second down wants to throw this one's complete he'll be stopped just short of the end zone but they'll have it first and goal it's really nice when you're an offensive coach and you can basically attack the whole field when you got an arm like this and you can just boom put on a line it's really nice to have that Fresno State lines up with a first and goal they'll go to the air lets it go to the end zone and it's caught for a touchdown they're going to play this one through to the end but this is pretty much window dressing good for them they they put together a drive they they got a touchdown it's been a bad day I mean this is a day they're going to want to forget they're getting destroyed but at least you get some positive vibes maybe maybe finish this game on a little bit
