wasn't going to cry until at least I started talking um it's such a privilege to be here um tonight to be with you there were no women that played rugby when I was a kid uh women were considered too delicate and too frail and you know it wasn't the right thing for them to do they should do much more ladylike Sports uh and I remember this huge sense of frustration and talking to my mom and saying uh when I'm bigger I'm going to play rugby and she's like well can't really and I said oh is it because I'm a wheelchair user and she was like no no it's because you're a girl because you know it just didn't happen so I grew up watching Men play and there loads of role models and they were pretty good Role Models you know there Gareth Edwards and jpr and you know good good players but for me as a young athlete and I always wanted to play sport there were no women for me to look at it took a really long time for me to be involved in sport there will be thousands and thousands of young women out there who now have female role models and whether they play rugby or they officiate or they do another sport your names will be the ones uh that they're talking about and that ability to change young girls lives is absolutely incredible and I'm just so envious that you get to pull on the Welsh rugby shirt I'm going to cry again because it's what I grew up watching and loving and caring about about and you are the women who will change thousands and thousands of not just girls lives but boys lives because they will see what is possible because what you are going to do have a great day tomorrow and the whole nation is behind you and love you for what you do them
