PENN STATE FOOTBALL PREGAME SHOW! Vs Bowling Green

welcome in the behind the--all pregame Show sponsored by campus Stakes it's a Philly thing go check them out downtown State College on Pew Street and come out Sunday morning from 10: to 11:00 a.m. right after the Bowling Green game Dom Duca will be there signing his memorabilia cups we're going to be coming out with a new cup every home game and the player will be at campus Stakes the following morning Sunday morning from 10 to 11:00 a.m. uh and if you collect all of them you win a really cool joea statue that I will show you guys in the near future but get getting into today we are going to be talking a quick West Virginia cleanup Franklin some of the players had some press conferences since my last video I want to talk about a couple things that were said nitty lions in the NFL update I know you guys love that I'm going to update you on about eight nitty lions in the NFL mainly younger guys uh then we're going to get into the Bowling Green preview and then we will do a question and answer that you guys submitted on Facebook and on Twitter okay let's get into these coaches and player press conference the first thing I want to talk about is uh bo and there was a big rule change coming into the season now college football teams are allowed to have tablets and mics in their helmets now there can be one person on each side of the football that can have the mic in their helmet that's called The Green Dot and you'll see a little Green Dot on the on their helmet Drew Aller has one and then Kobe King has one now something that's interesting is all the quarterbacks have to have one so if Bo poua comes in obviously he has a Green Dot so he can communicate with Andy Cotto Nikki well then now the question is Bo pulla has a a ton of snaps where he's on the field with Drew Aller at the same time and so obviously you can't have two guys with two mics you know both guys having a mic and their helmet at the same time on the field Bo pabula does have two helmets he just confirmed this morning uh to reporters I do have two helmets so hopefully there's never a kind of a mess up or a switch up there with which helmet bro pabula has on and then the other piece uh of the rules that change this off season you can now have tablets on the sideline before You' come off the sideline after a drive the coach would say hey what the hell happened out there and you'd have to try to figure out on the Whiteboard and sometimes it's raining and trout trout was trying to White on write on the Whiteboard and it's like not even working and he just like throws it to the side he's like whatever we'll figure it out after the game now you can go over to the sideline and you can pull up a tablet and say here this is exactly what happened the dline slanted this way the linebacker came over top here's how we're going to fix it so I think it does present an opportunity to show who's a better Coach there is way more ability to make in-game adjustments now than there was before these tablets were allowed so I thought that was a fun little tidbit that Bo pabula has two helmets on the sideline um now getting into some stuff that coach Franklin said and I'm paraphrasing this but he said don't feel confident that guys who started in week one will start in week two I don't know how to feel about that it was a really good outcome from week one so him saying that I don't I don't necessarily really like that I think he is mainly referring to cornerback possibly right tackle with Anthony Dona and Nolan Ruchi although Anthony Dona played a great game I don't think Nolan Ruchi is going to overtake him there was some talk about who would be the starter if there would be split reps Anthony Dona almost took all of them I do want to note coach Franklin said he wants to get Nolan Ruchi more involved not sure how I feel about that I like I mentioned I've switched off drives as an offensive lineman where you're rotating with someone it's not that easy I do it does sound like quarterback we're going to see some different guys outside of just AJ Harris and Jaylen Kimber out there um we saw Elliot Washington with a pick cam Miller played some so there might be some different starters at cornerback uh heading into week two and then maybe wide receiver too we don't know maybe tyer Denmark will work his way in Liam Clifford didn't get any catches we'll get into all that in a little bit uh but maybe there's some different starting wide receivers besides Trey Wallace we are not going to move Trey Wallace I think we found our number one guy there um Franklin also said in his press conference he has a lot of confidence in Sanders sahak from what he showed them in the spring and throughout fall Camp um now I will say this on this Sanders sahc topic he lost his kicking job last year in W West Virginia he missed two kicks Alex Falcons came over kind of took everything over and finished out the rest of the season and was a very serviceable Place kicker for Penn State now entering going into Sanders fourth year he's a scholarship kicker and he's kind of expected to be that guy misses about I think it a 47 yard kick to close to the end of the game against West Virginia and the game was already over but that was pretty significant just because we're gonna need those points eventually we're gonna have to be able to cash in on three points against those better teams USC Ohio State when it really matters we have to have a good kicker so the ingame pressure is different than in practice I think that's the biggest thing Franklin said hey we got confidence in him we've seen him do it in practice we haven't seen him do it in a game yet and I think that's the biggest thing that is like a golfer hey you're great on the driving range but no you know when you get out there in front of the cameras and in front of everybody else you you Duff it two yards well you know it doesn't really do much to be that to be good not in game so I'm I'm not going to lie that is probably my biggest worry headed into this week and I'm going to talk a little bit more about that uh shortly but I am slightly worried about Penn State's kicking game um one other thing is that Julian Fleming got a lot of heat for all over social media for not having any catches not having any Targets um fun fact he played the same amount of snaps as Trey Wallace Believe It or Not doesn't really look the same on the same on the stat sheet uh but he did I believe they both played about 35 snaps he was open a couple times I saw a ton of people asking why did he not get the ball that Tyler Warren touchdown from Bo pabula Fleming was open uh open on a nice post route Tyler was just open a little bit faster there was a couple other times where he was open uh but look I mean we didn't pass the ball that many times and sometimes just doesn't work out that way for you I mean only only two wide receivers had a catch in Trey Wallace and Amari Evans and Amari Evans really only had one catch and it was kind of an offensive Pi so for the most part anybody out outside of Troy Wallace wasn't getting much love uh and we heard Liam Clifford get a ton of Praise throughout Spring ball throughout Camp so we were kind of expecting some other wide receivers to get involved now I can't be mad we saw like I said we had a number one wide receiver emerge I'm incredibly excited about that but um I I think there's going to be more opportunity for Julian Fleming to get involved coach Franklin was very happy with how he played uh and how he blocked especially is one probably the best blocking wide receiver on the team and that's important we will forever and always be a running football team here at Penn State uh now last thing to clean up KJ Winston Big 10 defensive player of the week 12 tackles uh I think Jaylen Reid also probably could have won this we have the best safety group in all our college football it's that simple it's exciting our safety group will probably Garner a lot of defensive player of the week Awards throughout the rest of the season so you that's something you can definitely look forward to as a Penn State fan now let's transition to nitty lions in the NFL uh and this is going to be mainly gotten newer guys within the past two to three years giving you guys some updates so first off kayen Wallace he was the highest rated offensive lineman for the Patriots in their final preseason game he is going to be that starter at left tackle uh you know this is exciting I think if you remember a while back kayen Wallace was someone that the fans kind of pointed the finger at as to why the offensive line wasn't working last year he was phenomenal for Drew Aller at right tackle only lit up one sack uh and then turned that into getting drafted in the third round now he will be starting at left tackle and funny enough starting before Olu fashion will be starting Olu gets the start out on the bench because he's behind Tyron Smith he'll get a little bit of time to ease in he will be a the career left tackle uh for for the New York Jets but it's kind of funny the guy drafted later will start first but great great stuff out of Kaden Wallace um update on kin King he was cut by the Packers then he got resigned to their practice squad now this is someone who was highight he highlighted his preseason with the force fumble versus the Ravens uh picked off uh Jordan love in training camp for a pick six he's someone that Matt laflor the head coach for the Packers has been saying he just every single opportunity that is out there he takes it and he does everything he can with it uh so that is someone that I I think will continue to uh impose his will and make his way onto a final roster in the NFL Sean Clifford who I thought was honestly one of the best backup quarterbacks in all of college football uh just because he's a little bit older he's veteran uh and someone that not it doesn't necessarily have the talent to be a starting quarterback in the NFL but someone that is very Service uh serviceable especially if someone like Jordan love goes down well they trade the Titans for Malik Willis the Packers do and next thing you know Shan Clifford is cut now Shan Clifford was resigned uh by the Packers to the practice squad and something that's interesting that even though they traded for Malik Willis I saw reports out of Packers camp that Sean Clifford and Malik Willis are actually still battling it out for quarter quarterback number two and that Matt laflor has not decided who will back up Jordan love in week one this coming Sunday so something to keep an eye on Shan Clifford still could be quarterback number two even though he was cut recently and resigned uh now chop Robinson who I think is going to have the biggest impact from any Penn State rookie this year that's my prediction uh he's expected to have a really big year uh coach Mike McDaniel and chop Robinson he said he doesn't waste a day on the field which is good news to us because he is a talented player that we're counting on to contribute I would expect nothing else from chop he attacks each practice the same way as a veteran would that's big praise from his head coach he's going to be so he's going to excel uh chop Robinson just that speed that burst that we saw in college football it's going to translate to the next level and it sounds like the Miami Dolphins have already kind of hit uh on this young defensive end so excited to see how many sacks chop Robinson produces in his rookie year in the NFL now moving on Curtis Jacobs we are going to the Chiefs he was cut by the Chiefs but then resigned by the New England Patriots he is United reunited I guess with Ken and Wallace they're having a good time I actually talked to both of them recently uh so don't worry the boys are linking up having some great food hanging out and getting ready for the season uh to get started so happy for Curtis Jacobs there someone who that really fell in the draft went undrafted and most people that was kind of a shock um and had some good stuff going on in Kan in Kansas City just sometimes guys I mean that those 53 man roster cuts are brutal they get rid of some guys they really don't want to have to get rid of but hey the the Patriots picked them up and seems like he will be on their practice squad Rosser for the rest of the season so good on Curtis Jacobs uh update on Theo Johnson with the New York Giants he was wearing number 47 was an ugly number it looked bad not good on Theo Johnson that's a guy that has some Swagger I'm like Theo we got to get this changed next thing you know yesterday the New York Giants post a photo shoot Theo is now number 84 and I think in big part due to the fact that he's probably tight end number one uh Daniel Bellinger was supposed to be tight end number one for the Giants coming into this year Darren Waller the Giants traded for him from the Raiders basically imploded mentally went off made some music video about his girlfriend Kelsey Plum or his ex-girlfriend and just retired from football so that was really random but giants made out well drafting Theo Johnson later in the draft and getting uh what it seems like their tight end one and someone that is going to be Daniel Jones probably favorite Target um outside of their star wide receiver that they just drafted um now going down to Jacksonville Florida Parker Washington still has I believe the longest kickoff return by anybody in the NFL it was preseason but up to this point and it's the new kickoff rules so Parker Washington may have found himself a little niche for the Jaguars not only as a top wide receiver but maybe as that kickoff for Return Man uh as there's a lot more opportunity to return I saw past years it was like a 20% return rate on kickoffs in the NFL just because the kickers were booted out of the back of the end zone or they would call a fair catch in the end zone it's like a 74% return right now so the kickoff uh the the kickoff in in the NFL is now a big time play and Parker Washington can probably help out with that he had a really nice like 25 yard reception from Trevor Lawrence in the preseason and he's been getting a ton of love from Trevor Lawrence just complimenting him saying the way he's work at he's working uh just how he's seen him progress since he's been at Jacksonville uh getting a lot of Praise from his quarterback so it could be a big year for Parker Washington and could work his way up the depth chart to where he's the number two maybe even number one guy uh for Trevor Lawrence in Jacksonville something to keep an I on headed into this coming season last guy I want to talk about is decoin Hardy uh I got a good look at him because he played my Steelers in the preseason and I watched the entire game he is on the Buffalo Bills and he might just be the starting punt returner for the Buffalo Bills we saw what he did last year he had two touchdowns off punt returns and I think was close to having a third at one point he actually beat out AJ hamler they were competing uh for that spot for that for that punt return spot and dayquan won it so former Penn State on Penn State guys and he did it he had a couple PL pass deflections as well this preseason so I think he's not only someone that the bills see hey we have some depth he can play around uh the DB room especially in that slot position where we saw him a lot at Penn State really succeed but hey we have a guy that can return the ball and that is Uber important to NFL teams they love guys that make imp impact on special teams so seeing that makes me really happy for dayquon Hardy I think he's someone that is going to be in the NFL for a long time just because of his athletic ability uh his work ethic but then his ability to be an impactful dude on special teams all right so let's get into this Bowling Green preview now let's talk some actual football I told you guys we're were going to talk a little bit more other stuff just because Bowling Green isn't as interesting as West Virginia but now let's let's really get into the nitty-gritty uh Bowling Green last week they played foram University they beat them with ease 41 to 17 forom is a pretty bad team they're they're really lower level uh out in New York I think they're close to the Bronx now this m this this team this this Bowling Green Team is considered to be the best team in the MAC Conference they are pretty much outright the favorite to win it and we've played some mac teams that have given us a little bit of trouble in the past Buffalo uh Kent State uh that type of thing so excuse me Ken State might actually not be in there but but Buffalo those lower level kind of teams um is where they're at but this seems like a good team they started off the game with a kickoff return for a touchdown then they ran a fake punt on Fourth and 25 that was kind of disrespectful to me but this is a special teams unit that seems like they kind of got it going on so that's it's definitely something to keep an eye on um some trickery there be careful I mean if if there's a game to break out some trickery it's it's Penn State this is going to be their Super Bowl so keep keep an eye on their special teams unit now talking about Bowling Green offense they had 305 rushing yards terion Stewart their starting running back had 161 yards and three touchdowns on the ground this is someone that in the mat conference is considered maybe one of the better offensive players uh stward is so so someone to keep an eye on now I don't think they've ever played anybody like this Penn State Defense uh this is someone who's stouted up front we've talked about the defensive line at Penn State and how veteran and deep they are uh and then talk and then Kobe kingy roas and then we talked about the safeties coming down to make the tackles uh so 305 rushing yards against forom University doesn't impress me a ton but what it does tell me is that they have a good scheme and I watched a little bit of their game and I'll tell you guys it's a creative offense it is kind of what you saw from Andy coton Nikki in week one where there's a lot of misdirection there is confusion on the defense by putting them at a deficit with pre- SNAP motion move trying to move the defense just like Andy cot Nikki did with those pre- snap ions moving you know guys out of the box that type of thing that is what this offense at Bowling Green does obviously not to as you know they don't do it as well as Cotto Nikki does it but I I noticed it and then Connor uh basac who was supposed to be also one of the best quarterbacks in the Mac he had uh 15 for 22 168 and no touchdowns like I said supposed to be a pretty good quarterback but this is kind of an opportunity for Penn State to get after a little bit of a lesser team like I said I mean the best team in the mech you can't take them too lightly now I mean this is someone I'm not saying they're going to upset us we should win by plenty but don't come in asleep and this is because you can get punched in the mouth you come in asleep against a team like this that runs the ball well and plays decent defense I'm not going to lie um Anthony Hawkins their defensive tackle had two sacks two and a half tackles for loss uh so he seems to be like a pretty Premier defensive tackle like I said it was the forom offensive line but that's still a little bit of a test for Vango Yuan Nick Dawkins uh sa Wormley on the inside they get to go up against him so let's make sure to keep him in check but overall just talking about this team they're a Mac team they don't have the players we have we said that about West Virginia even more so now for Bowling Green you know we got seven guys on defense that very likely could go to the NFL within the next year or two they probably have none uh maybe this Hawkins guy so I'm not that worried about that but I just don't want to come out slow get punched in the mouth and then only win by 10 or 14 I want to be dominant and feel good heading into our bye but let's talk about Penn State this weekend I want to get this run game established now we ran for 220 yards on the ground against West Virginia that was very good but I still feel like there was times throughout the game where we did not establish it enough there was a couple drives that just stalled we ran it on first and second down we'd get one yard and then maybe another yard and next thing you know it's third and eight and you're making Drew Aller uh pass kind of behind the sticks and when I say behind the sticks I mean you know you want to be passing on third and four third and five that's the situations you want to live in even third and two um but you start to be have those second and nines third and seven or longer on that first down you want to get four or five yards that's what the Run game can do for you you get that established uh and kind of allow that confidence to be built throughout the year I also want to see KRON Isen get going had 10 carries for 20 yards I don't think it was necessarily his fault and honestly Nick Singleton outside I mean I'm not going to say outside of it because those those two 40 yard runs are huge you can't just take those away but I'm going to do it if you take away those two 40 yard runs the the ground game looks really really different on the day so like I said it's not really fair to do but we need to be you know do better in those five to six to seven yard runs where we're just chugging away at a defense demoralizing them going 12 133 play drives that last 8 minutes and giving that defense some time to breathe our own defense I'm saying and uh just really to be able to depend on the Run game I want Drew Aller as much as like I said told you guys he dropped his nuts but I want him to still have a run game that he can depend on to grind out some yards late in the game uh I also want to see us get other wide receivers the ball Trey Wallace and Amari Evans were the only wide receivers with receptions in this game and Amari one of them came on that 55 yard reception probably offensive pi and the other one was a kind of quick wide receiver screen for no yards so I I want to see let's get Liam Clifford involved let's get tyer Denmark involved obviously Julian Fleming I know there's a lot of questions about him how much can he be involved he played the same amount of snaps as Trey Wallace I told you guys so it's just a matter of him getting open and Drew Aller trusting him that he's going to go make a play for him uh so I think we will see a lot more of those guys but I think there'll be an emphasis to pass the ball a little bit like I said I I mean want us to run the ball and establish it but get Drew's chemistry established with other guys outside of just Trey Wallace um as far as quarterbacks go continue to build Drew's confidence like I said but let Bo come in play some good 20 snaps in that realm get a good 15 20 snaps out of him let him continue to be confident and I want to ask you guys this comment this below how do you feel about B getting these snaps mid game do you want it to increase do you wanted to stay right around four or five snaps cuz some fans I've seen are like hey no more than four or five snaps cuz now you're digging really into Drew's game and you're kind of messing with his flow but I've seen other fans that say hey bring bow on more reps more reps more trickery that type of thing I'm curious to see what you guys say so let me know if you want more Bo pabula less or pretty much the same now I kind of want to transition into young guys that I'm excited to see this weekend I said the Bowling Green Team is decent we should blow him out we should get up and get C be comfortable to put some of our younger guys in so first off Luke Reynolds he played some um this past Saturday especially because khil dinkin was out and it sounds like khil dinkin this is probably going to be more of a long-term injury coach Franklin really hasn't said but that's kind of the way it's look it's sounding uh to everybody so Luke Reynolds is essentially that tight end number three we get up pretty early in the game next thing you know he's tight end two maybe tight end one I think we will see a lot of him um in that game and I'd like to see him you know get him involved in the passing game but I want to see some good tape of him blocking as well because if you play tight end at Penn State you're going to block Tyler Warren is Elite think Brenton strange he is making most of his money in the NFL for the Jacksonville Jaguars blocking so I I want to see that out of Luke Reynolds but I'm excited about him uh Dewan Lane at safety he is kind of that fourth guy I think we saw him a little bit at against West Virginia but this is someone that the coaches are really excited about and I'll share this guy this with you I was talking to jayen Reed at the barber shop actually last week and I was like you know how how's everything looking you know anybody you're B really excited about and he said man that guy Lane he is going to be a problem now I don't think we need him to be a problem yet because we're so good at safety but it sounds like Anthony Poindexter in this defense is reloading in safety so expect Lane to be uh an upand cominging Superstar very shortly he's getting that praise from Jaylen Reed who is seems like he's probably one of the best safeties in the country especially after last week so uh that gets me pretty excited kind of hearing that stamp of approval from Jay re and like I said this this wasn't no uh coach speak it wasn't Jaylen Reed being asked about Lane at a conference we were just in the barber shop chopping it up so I mean this is real raw uh opinion he likes him a lot Cooper cousins he's the sixth offensive lineman that's my take on it um when vanga Yuan split out at slot wide receiver position to be motioned down and cracked down on the defensive end I freaking love it Andy Nikki being creative putting a 350lb man in motion to block someone that's a painful day for the defensive end but when that happened obviously someone had to come in at left guard it was Cooper cousins so what that tells me is Cooper's kind of that that Sixth Man uh and that third guy across the interior offensive line I guess kind of fourth guy because there's three starters the left guard Center and Right Guard uh and he's kind of that fourth guy that can play any of those three positions I think we'll see a lot of young Cooper cousins and I will tell you haven't been able to find the play but he did pancake someone in that West Virginia game when he got in he's someone who's nasty he will be the future of this offensive line um talking about Ethan grunk me is he the future you know I don't know the answer to that I it looks like when I you see him play I've seen him train with Brad menler who's also Drew allers quarterback trainer it looks like the ball jumps out of his hand I mean and honestly more so than Drew like it's like whoa what was that okay this this kid's got something special I've talked to Brad menler who is both of their trainers and you know he is really excited about him I've heard some people say the talent might even be kind of higher than Drew Aller believe it or not so obviously it's going to take some time to get that out of him but I think this is someone that could be the future of Penn State football at quarterback and we'll probably get to see a heavy dose of him now it depends how much we get up by and how early that is but I would really like to see him get to pass the ball anywhere from six to eight times let's see what that arm is talking about another guy where I'm asking is he the future Tamir Robinson he's kind of playing that third middle linebacker role Tyler Ellen's still number two and Ellen's in his fifth year he's not probably GNA come back for a sixth year so entering Tamir Robinson next year at middle linebacker after Kobe King leaves it's going to be interesting to see uh can he kind of take over those Reigns can he be that guy to step in kind of how Kobe King stepped in for Ellis Brooks after 2021 uh looks a lot better physically Al and he's someone that James Franklin said made one of the biggest jumps from the start of this year to this point now physically so he's put on the weight and put the work in in the weight room as well so I'm excited to see kind of what he can do now at the wide receiver position taer Denmark he is someone that has really made some strides coaches were raving about him out of Camp you heard His Name a ton obviously didn't see him you didn't really see any of the wide receivers outside of trit Wallace uh on Saturday but I think now here's a real opport Unity we're traying a couple other guys start to take a break at halftime enter intier Denmark let's see if we can start that grunk me to Denmar connection early I that would be kind of cool uh and you know we need it you know outside of Trey Wallace we haven't really seen a true playmaker I I think Amari Evans the jury still kind of out on that we need someone else to step up it can't all just be Trey Wallace and a little bit of Tyler Warren we got to have someone else in that wide receiver room it might just be tyer Denmark and then the last question I want to talk about is Max Granville now he reclassified he should be going into his senior year of high school but he is now here playing defensive end as a true freshman uh now this is a defensive line defensive end group that is deep but they're older now Deni and Abdul are surely both going to go to the NFL after this year then you look behind them Amin vanover and Smith vilbert both really really good backups but that's a sixth year and a fifth year they're both probably gone so we're losing our four defense our four top defensive ends I want to see a little bit of Max Granville because he's going to be the guy next year it was unfortunate J Lions is gone he's probably not coming back so it was going to be nice to have him and Granville kind of pair together but now there's going to be a little bit of pressure on Granville going into next year can he be that guy at Penn State where we have just consistently reloaded a defensive end I hope we can do that again with him but I will probably get our first look at him this coming Saturday versus Bowling Green and I'll just tell you guys looking at the roster I don't want to ruin anybody's day don't get too far ahead but kind of go through that roster and say okay this guy's probably going to leave this guy's probably going to leave you know offense look at offense and defense it's a little scary next year thinking about how many guys we could lose I'm just putting that out there let's not think about that right now uh we we will enjoy this depth and this great team while we have it all right now let's transition into the q&as that I put out on Twitter and Facebook and I will probably put those out weekly for the most part if it's like Ohio State week that type of thing sometimes there's just too much stuff to cover like there was probably too much stuff with West Virginia last week uh but when we play kind of lesser teams it's more fun to get you guys involved and answer your questions so first off we're going to go to Twitter where we were asked when Franklin said they had food available during the delay um what was it how much just curious so I'll tell you guys every time you go in at halftime there's always snacks there's bananas there's those little bites the muffins uh you have little fruit pouches you have applesauce all that type of things and I do know that they had Panera sandwiches I don't really know how many guys ate them but more guys are probably just snacking on gummies and that type of thing but there's plenty of food there's pickle juice anything you can think of uh we have for the most part but that is what was brought in that's normally not there was Panera sandwiches to answer your question but normally a guy doesn't really like to eat but I'll tell you the little bites those are the go-to you know everybody knows those little bite muffins I have to share a quick story rosebowl 202 too there was a bunch of us that were injured me Nick Dawkins Olu fashion a couple other guys and we were you know we were having a good time we were up on Utah at halftime and I remember Nick Dawkins basically had a competition with himself to see how many little bite packets he could eat during halftime and I'm pretty confident I can't remember I want to say he ate seven to eight little boxes like little pouches which there's four in each so I I'll let you do the math on that but Nick Dawkins is a professional little bite muffin uh Champion now moving on uh still on Twitter my man will gamble says serious question how important is Drew allers Chang and demeanor on the field I think it's probably everything I think I I've said that not only was that a huge day for him statistically but it was a bigger day for him in between the ears he took a big step not only for himself confidence wise but the team around him I mean I'm talking that's the the ability to just throw the ball up trust his gu stiff arm someone into the dirt get your guys a first down on third down then get fired up and get in someone's face that that makes the team want to play for you I mean people were talking about Ohio State last year with him crying and how that kind of lost people's respect well this is the opposite of that he is you know the team wants to get behind someone that is acting that type of way especially when that's your quarterback and that's your leader so I think the answer is his change in demeanor on the field means everything to Penn State and that entire locker room uh so now we're going to go over to Facebook and someone says another question how much do we have to beat Bowling Green by an order for it to be a statement does it have to be 50 or down to Seven Points I'd say this needs to be a good 21 to 24 Point Victory where I think the biggest thing is we need to get our guys out early I don't want to see many starters after the 10minute mark in the third quarter going in halftime it should be hey we already got this game Let's we're going to start the plan how we're going to get these young freshmen in and who we're going to put in that's a world where I want to be and then if you only win by 17 points because you had some freshman in they make some mistakes that's okay but I just I think the to the to know that it was a statement was that we could put our backups in at the beginning of the second half I think that is the answer uh still on Facebook Ethan Cook asked what part of last week's game against West Virginia stood out to you the most and who do you think will break out this weekend against Bowling Green I'd say what out the most to me last week and I think to everybody was Drew all's confidence I think and it was Andy koton Nikki this wasn't some uh Magic that just popped up Andy coton Nikki allowed Drew Aller to be confident if he created the plays for him to be confident go check out my four downs breakdown that I just posted from the West West Virginia game I broke down the four most important plays so you sound smart you sound good when you're going to the tailgate this weekend against Bowling Green and you can tell your friends just exactly how Drew Aller and Andy cot Nikki dissect Ed that West Virginia Defense and then this weekend for Bowling Green I'm going to go with KRON Allen and Nick singon I'll give you both I think they're just going to look like they did in 2022 when we played Ohio when we played Auburn I think they're going to have those type of days where they both have a lot of yards and Nick Singleton breaks off some more big ones uh another question from Facebook curious as to why Fleming was not targeted um getting separation is that the issue well you know like I said he played the same same amount of snapch Trey Wallace I don't think it's that big of an issue I don't think we passed it that much and Drew Aller just didn't really look his way all that much now if you want to say that's a concern maybe a little bit but for the most part I mean he was getting open he was blocking really well and he didn't get selfish he didn't throw a hissy fit just because he wasn't getting the ball he continued to play hard and Coach Franklin credited him for that in his postgame presser so I I think that's not something to be worried about and I think we will see him get more and more involved as we get into the season uh another Facebook question about Alex birm and now him not really being in the mix up to this point and yeah guys I mean look it happens guys get buried on the depth chart even if you are a five star you know offensive line is a very physically demanding position and if you are not able to be as physical as the coaches want you you're not going to play so sometimes you get buried uh on the depth chart and it's hard to get out especially when younger guys or guys the same age as you are in front of you it's kind of hard to to climb up so I I think that happens from time to time Javin Williams is someone else that got buried on the dep chart a little bit I think he's someone we could see in the future uh but both guys that are kind of rotational pieces at the moment uh and then this last question back to Twitter said I could still I can't I could not and still cannot think of any good reason to go for two in the first quarter and in my opinion the particular play call was just dumb what are your thoughts talking about that um Sanders AEK jet motion fake and then Bo pabula pulls it tried to pass it uh and and kind of got tackled and nothing came of it and then we only scored six points I think that's just James Franklin uh special teams coordinator that type of thing trying to be creative trying to get probably a little too cute I don't really know how I feel about our kicker in a jet motion is anybody really falling for that Sanders sahk it's pretty much all of 115 pounds so it doesn't really threaten me too much uh running the ball but yeah you know it it was kind of stupid I don't think we will run anything like that again there was clearly some Andy cut Nikki influence on that fake special teams play but uh you know I don't think we'll do it again to answer your question now the real question there is are we going to go for two more and more frequently when we have Andy coton Nikki's creativity I am excited about that not go for two with some kind of trick play you know Drew all the whole bunch out there and really trying to go for two I've seen some NFL teams do that in the past be curious to see if Penn State goes that route or not all right that will do it for the behind thewall pregame show versus Bowling Green um like I said guys Sunday morning come out to campus Stakes 10 to 11 a.m. tune in on the radio I'll be live 3 to 4 on Friday on fox pen State and then also check me out in front of the stadium starting at 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 me and T Frank will be on the stage right in front of uh I forget I think it's like the uh I don't know right in front of the stadium you can't miss us we'll be on a big stage so check us out there I'll be doing a ton of more pregame stuff like that follow me on Twitter at Landon Tang wall be posting a lot of updates updates mid game but outside of that guys like comment subscribe below peace
