US-China Trade War Escalates | USPS cuts tariff | Boeing Strike | DSV Wins Bid for DB Schenker

[Music] hi welcome to the news us finalizes China tariff hikes the US trade representative has finalized a plan to significantly raise tariffs on Chinese Goods effective September 27th 2024 the new tariffs Target strategic product categories such as electric vehicles 100% tariff lithiumion EV batteries 25% tariff and solar cells 50% tariff the final structure includes increased tariffs on medical supplies with face masks facing a 50% tariff in 20125 and a 100% tariff in 2026 while some exclusions and exceptions apply these tariff hikes are expected to have a significant impact on the US China trade relationship and Global Supply chains Amazon's 2.1 billion doll boost for Delivery Service Partners Amazon has announced a significant investment of 2. 1 billion in its delivery service partner DSP program bringing its total investment to 12.3 billion since its launch in 2018 this investment aims to support small business owners who operate delivery services for Amazon and includes initiatives to increase DSP rate cards enhance safety measures improve training and introduce new Services as a result of these Investments Amazon expects the national average hourly pay for DSP drivers to reach nearly $22 and the company is also leveraging Ai and advanced technology to improve driver safety and efficiency dsv wins bit for DB Shanker in $15.4 billion deal the Danish logistics company dsv has agreed to acquire DB Shanker the logistics arm of Deutsche bon in a deal worth $15.4 billion this acquisition once approved will make dsv the world's largest freight forwarder surpassing kuna plus Nagle dsv V's offer was chosen over a bid from CVC Capital Partners despite Union concerns about Job losses the deal is expected to be finalized soon pending approval from deche Bond supervisory board USPS Cuts discounts for package consolidators the US Postal Service has announced the end of discounted rates for package consolidators like ups and DHL effective September 30th this decision is part of the Postal Services 10-year delivering for America plan to improve its Financial sustainability and operational efficiency the move aims to encourage shippers to use USPS Services directly especially for last mild deliveries while this may lead to higher costs for consolidators and potentially consumers USPS believes it will help reduce losses and streamline its operations Boeing workers walk out and strike over pay dispute the International Association of machinists and Aerospace workers I am voted to reject a tentative agreement with bone leading to a strike by about 33,000 workers in the US Pacific Northwest region the union sought a 40% pay increase over 4 years while the company offered 25% the strike began on September 13th halting production of Boeing's strongest selling aircraft that's a wrap on the top supply chain and Logistics news from around the world stay tuned for more updates
