I had a thousand bucks and I gave him a thousand dollars in cash [Music] what's going on guys and welcome to rabbits used cars you know this place is so crazy you know when we started selling classic cars we didn't know I didn't really know how this was gonna go at first and you know during the covered days I mean we were selling the car every three days now covet's got to calm down a little bit things kind of got back to normal of course a little longer actually bringing more money now though which is crazy but they're not selling quite as fast which makes sense um interest rates are up a little bit which always slows things down um but we've had a crazy crazy last couple days so two really expensive units uh copper C10 I'm sure you guys have seen in the background a few of these videos and the Bronco kind of crazy Broncos actually headed up to Northern Michigan and the C10 one of the Street Outlaw guys bought it out in Montana which is really really cool um probably hear some more about that before so with them they see it on some Social Media stuff here soon but you know they're not all big Winners like that and you know I always like to show you guys both sides of the story you know it's easy to come in and tell you about the home runs but I like to be real with you guys so I like to share with you some of the misses too um you gotta think about it I have never lost money on a car yet I've had some I broke even on I've had some of them I had to trade my way out of but I've never lost on a car yet um and I pride myself on that but the other side of this is you have a lot of misses you know something you think would do better than others um you have a lot that you know because it's guesswork I mean at the end of the day just because I like it doesn't necessarily mean you guys are gonna like it um and you gotta you got you gotta understand that and you can use that philosophy in a lot of different types of business but I'll share with you a story of a crappy day I was in an event this is actually a couple years ago but I was in an event and me and a buddy of mine were walking around and we were looking at cars and there was a gorgeous 57 Chevrolet two-door post the Bel Air you know tropical turquoise Ivory Top This classic iconic colors turquoise inside beautiful car small block automatic been hot rodded disc brakes set a mile high in the air but other than that super nice car stop drop and roll candidate from way back big set of wheels you know adjust the altitude a little bit of course that's where the attitude comes in give it that look that car would be showroom ready um and those are the cards I like to buy I love those little Transformations I love doing it on trucks and cars but this little 57 Chevrolet was a quality car that's the thing it was a very very nice built car and I walked around it and the gentleman had it for sale and he was the older guy and we're walking around it looking at it and he had a good looking car and he pops hood and shows me everything small block Chevrolets got more Scout power brakes and power steering head so I put aftermarket air on it good looking car like I said just need those little tweaks to really make it pop give it I'm off but you know I was blessed with the ability to see past that and look at the quality of the build itself and you got to think about that's the expensive Parts um you know you got to think I could spend three thousand dollars on this and make this vehicle worth way more money um which is great you know it's just like guys that redo houses and flip them and whatnot same idea um well anyway I was walking around this 57 Chevrolet it was just a great car I mean like it was just a good car and the older gym He restored a few years back and he's drove it he's had his fun with it to be honest with you kind of getting up in age a little bit I just get tired of cleaning on this thing it's time to let somebody else have a little fun with it so we got to go back and forth on price this price was decent he had on the carb so we went back and forth just a little bit and uh we agreed on the price well obviously I didn't have a checkbook with me I didn't have anything with me here I am out of town I'm driving my personal vehicle I have no trailer no way to haul this thing no way to get it back he goes I'll do even do you one better he said I'll stick it on a trailer and bring it to you and you can just pay me for it he said we'll just give me a little deposit on it and you know give me your information so I did I had a thousand bucks and I gave him a thousand dollars in cash um so I'm like man I'm excited got one ball maybe buddy we went out walking around doing her thing having a good time you know got a car ball Got a Good Day car show he bring this thing down to me next week it's all gonna be good well the next day gives me a call he goes hey I'm gonna be a little tied up this week and I wrote it to you first thing next week and I said man that's totally fine it works out good I have the cash waiting on you boom boom boom love it you know things happen and I mean I understand that so that week goes by never hear from him and I figured you know he'd kind of give me a warning shot when he was coming and I'm like man you know so I'll call him back goes straight to voicemail interesting and you know I'll give them a few days try to call them back keep my I have a cell phone number try to call him back nothing it was a voicemail so I called the third time and this is a week later then he was supposed to be there so now it's three weeks since I gave him the deposit in this car and his wife answers the phone or I'm assuming it's his wife a lady answers and I said hey I'm Rob Pitts of rabbit use cars I was calling to check on that turquoise 57 Chevrolet um I gave your husband a deposit on it and he was supposed to bring it down I was going to pay him for it she said my husband passed away last week and I know he was going to sell it to you but it's already in his will for one of his children to get it and he said you know I don't think that would be the thing to do and I agree wholeheartedly at that point um that your child was supposed to get this and I don't want to crap anybody out of their inheritance or whatever and uh you know I'll be honest with a horrible situation I'm not going to ask for my money back um you know it sucks and it's a loss but in the same token their loss was way deeper and way worse than me losing a thousand bucks um to learn a valuable lesson with that actually uh be a little more persistent and you know now I'm I'm not quite as laid back about it when I get one paid for or get a positive one I want to get that deal close as fast as humanly possible um so you live and you learn so maybe that thousand bucks was some uh some paid learning but that's some of the stuff you deal with here and it's the craziest things you know you try to think of every scenario how you can lose money and try to do everything you can to prevent it there's always something that's going to pop up every time but hey that's the car business gotta take the good with the bad guys we'll
