[Music] [Applause] [Music] hello welcome to Forest Focus we are live I think not Forest continu their preseason build with a one-1 draw against Sunland on Friday in Spain with new signings in place and players looking fit chart is it all coming together nicely we'll discuss a few key individuals from that game transfer news and look at some possible starting 11s in the company of first of all Greg Mitchell Greg you spoed why we're late uh how are you doing and please explain what went wrong well we're having a nice we were on time I think we're all feeling like we're quite smug in there and uh noticed that you weren you didn't actually press live so uh it was a nice little moment to be able to tell you that so we've just had a good five minutes chat between the four of us yeah we did the first five minutes of the podcast with no one watching there are people watching us now good to have uh you all with us second guest today together at Trent Bridge you'll notice if you're watching on YouTube are Red's Legend Gary burles and Michael Temple how are you doing chaps we're not happy with this we we're used to working for really credible professional media Outlet absolutely shambolic it really is hey yesterday the West Indies capit ated now you are Matt I'm glad the I'm glad the West Indies folded because it means temps is with us because he might not have been but uh yes before we get started you'll have noticed the new music uh in place uh we'll have an intro video updated as well but thanks to Tom Parry for sorting that out uh lots of people hated the old one so hopefully people like this one I do I think Tom's done a really good job right let's get started properly this time uh Forest je is Sunland on Friday Beach Chester field I'll look at the comment whatever is that Greg's laughing at shortly uh but Greg while I look at that tell us what you made of preseason so far and how we shaping up I uh I went to Chesterfield really enjoyed it it's just I do like getting a preseason game in just see like any of the youth players come through or it's a good chance to see the new players and every one of them put in a performance to say it was the first game and then I feel like that's continued a little bit more over in Spain so there's a nice positive feel around the place at the minute and I know it's only pre-season and I'm the worst person on Earth to get carried away but uh I've enjoyed it there's some bright Sparks coming through and there's also some headaches for the manager that I think he didn't realize he was going to have because these players that have already been at the club we thought may not feature again they've put in two decent performances so far yeah we'll get into all about get carried away Greg didn't you have a bit of a heavy night the other night as well carried away then I don't know I mean it's the cricket isn't it it's cricket season you're allowed to to have one and I'm sure temps will back me up and say I wasn't too bad at the cricket just had a very enjoyable day it wasn't too bad when I saw at 5 pass one although he had spilled half his Pine on some supporters down below so maybe that was the start of things to come and I should have delivered him a pint of water at that at that at that point but I'm glad Laura Greg's better half had to deal with the the back end of that and I was just able to rinse him for hospitality and beer yes you were in the you were in the PO seats as well went go yeah there's a freak gust of wind that uh knocked my drink over unfortunately and it caused a bit of a but it was I mean it was very early I think it was the first drink i' had so it wasn't anything to do with alcohol that uh temps you've also had a busy couple of days uh I see you on the stage at the Trent half which you're used to but a big EV it seems like it went very well uh talk about that if you want also what youve made of forest thus far yeah had a great time at the Trent now they do look after us extremely well and um yeah good to get together with broady VY cookie tuers and a few others and have some time in front of a Pack's house we also had Aaron ramsdale as a as a guest at Trent bridge and I I briefly got excited that um he might be one of those that we're we're targeting but he he was out for a a day out with his agent and it was in no way linked to uh linked to to Forest um but yeah impressed what I've seen so far and I look back at the lineups in some of the pre-season games last year and it bore no resemblance to the team that um started the season or the team that that finished it so I don't want to read too much into what we're seeing but relatively clean bill of health as Greg said I think there's potential for someone to emerge who had perhaps been um forgotten Omar Richards is an obvious name who's got it with within him certainly to to get to this level and just had such a disjointed time since he joined Forest so yeah pleased that everyone's tuning up tuning in seems great that the fellas have got away and got a uh the camp going in Mercia and getting great facilities decent opposition over there and and getting some U miles into the leg so you know every reason to feel optimistic at this stage but so do all 20 teams in the Premier League and I think it's still far too early to tell what kind of outfit we're going to be it's funny the preparation you know we used to go to Spain and things but we you just used to do no training and drink for a week and and then we went one European cups was so easy it was well how much do you read into it Gary they have looked sharp to be fair they played really well against Chesterfield there's individuals who look fitter and re like really really bright I mean we'll discuss sangari but Hudson Ado come back looking sharp elanga looks fit how much do you read into a couple of games though so far look let's put in perspective preseason training is just Paramount for getting yourself fit 100% nothing else you know it doesn't matter if you lose the games it's there to get the players the squad everybody 100% focused to start the season and it's important more more for Strikers than anybody else because that confidence if you have a good preseason scoring goals sets you up beautifully for you know the start of the season and with the first three games and this is no disrespect to the teams we play it couldn't have been a better start for us so the preparation is Paramount get yourself right mentally and physically Strikers get that confidence there and just hit hit the field running it's weird I was looking at some other clubs fixtures some of these teams are playing Fulham got two games and other clubs don't start till next Saturday I think Arsenal got three the way teams do preseason now is different it's a bit weird I suppose as well temps what what I'd like to say I agree with ging completely but it's just like patterns of play and I think you can see we're playing quite High it seems like we're pressing high in these friendlies I hope that's um a sign of things to come because one you you referen there last season under Steve Cooper uh it does feel like we're more cohesive at this stage and you can see what Nuno wants to do I think that was the immediate shift from Nuno wasn't he he took the shackles off and then we pop up with those results and performances against Newcastle and man united that ultimately made a difference between stay up and and going down we had a wobble thereafter but now he's had some time to establish what he wants to do I think we're going to see a more attacking side I think he wants swingers that can pin the fullbacks he clearly wants to recruit back up in that space should there be any injury problems or a need to rest El Langan Hudson ad do at any point in time and I think we're going to see recruitment focused on attacking areas from this point so with the preseason what's he going to do he's going to try and instill uh more effective patterns of play to allow us to be a possession team at times but also to be able to Spring counters in the way that we have we scored some good counter attacking goals last season I think we've all watched that YouTube clip back of every goal that we scored and that there is a a Common Thread in the in in the better um moments of our season that we get from Back to Front in in double quick time a lot of that down to the passability of uh millo the the attacking nature of the fullbacks um the the dribbling qualities of Anthony langa and Callum Hudson adoi and the the very best of Morgan Gibbs white when he was on song in particular matches next year so I think if we can have that dual threat of the counter but also being able to mount more meaningful attacks from more considered possession we can be a more effective team and look to get towards a six to 10 point Improvement which I think a realistic aim for this season someone asked me the other day if I think luno is going to get through the year and I the season and I I hope so because I think that would be a sign that we have kicked on we have been more effective um and we can we can see with our eyes that the changes that he's trying to impact on the side but if you look back through time there's been very few players that have gone through a full season Steve Cooper despite his achievements managed to do it once had one full season at n Forest so really hope he does and I hope that's the result of him impacting a slightly more attacking style after a period of considered recruitment well there was a lot of chat wasn't at the end of last season will Nuno still be here this season and you know a lot of people saying you know perhaps he should go but I was one who said right let's give him a chance get this preseason right get his players in that he wants his Squad his way of thinking his way of playing and just take it from there and hopefully that's what's going to happen uh I bang on again about the need for a striker we need a striker said that last season one you got injured and wood got injured at the same time then you start to struggle you know you we don't want that we want a good start to the season and you know by getting a striker in it just take I think it takes the pressure off a little bit if you know those players in Midfield uh who have got to chip in more goals uh you can't always just depend on your Strikers to do the business you know it's a team game it's Collective and you know everybody has to chip in yeah I do want to come back to Strikers we've got a whole section on that um with Gary around what we've gotten what we need which he's touched on there one thing to pick up on Greg from what temps and Gary were saying I suppose punity a bit of a a lack of chaos and it feels like we've got plans in place not having a new manager in place is really good you know you look at Brighton there're an unknown quantity and there's other clubs like that do you just kind of like that it feels like we've got you know we're lining our piece of The Dominoes up and slowly knocking them down it feels pretty comfortable to me so far it all started with the uh the mini transfer window shutting and we came out of it so successfully and I think it's continued through there um you know just going back to what you were talking about preseason and full of only having two games and things like that it's become increasingly more like a commercial thing for a lot of these clubs preseason now and I love the fact that we've just stuck with it had some you know decent lower league opposition and building it up to obviously I think Villa roale the last game to really ramp it up to get us used to that Premier League style quality so I think we've got a preseason bang on this this time uh and yeah the the recruitment's been steady there's been no moaning from the fans about this that the other and no doubt we'll still spend they'll they they'll get a bit excited and eventually do something but it won't matter as much because it hasn't been chaotic it's been really balanced and like I say the players that have gone out the door we've made good money on and they've done it the right way so long may it continue because that's the only way we're going to keep getting more successful talking about that though Greg it it baffles me how quiet the um Gibbs white and um Millo Millo situation in the last season were saying one has to go you know well niart did it didn't he and none of us saw that coming for the money meaning surely now we're gonna keep papers of quite a few papers and look every day and I'm not seen one Club linked with either of them no and I think the the Gibbs white ones hard for us to sell him just because the amount of money we've invested in him so the money that we'd be asking for I just don't think anyone's in that kind of Market at the minute Murillo is still one and you worry that we've bought players in obviously in anticipation of that but God if we keep hold of him as well and have that that back five that we could have that people keep putting on paper it's it's good that isn't the lowest that isn't a lower like part of the table defense so yeah fing Chelsea keep being linked with Murillo kind of consistently I think he's the one to monitor more than Gibbs white unless something happens with a different club that starts a a domino effect that we kind of have to watch out for but yeah uh as Ed says no news is good news in the comments there certainly and as Pete says hit the like And subscribe button that would be a big help is Peter a few players ironically not transfer related tempts that that have stood up in preseason we we'll talk about Ellie Anderson who obviously is but Omar Richards scoring um against Sunderland played really high looked uh fit and aggressive and athletic I said on the postmatch stream the day he looks like a player Nuno all like he kind of fits what he wants he's such an injury gamble I guess but do you see him potentially forcing his way in I think he's over that injury so that's that's not a factor anymore and he has to be considered from the perspective of a blank piece of paper I think he's one that will probably benefit from that um change of manager despite Nuno having not welcomed him to the club he had a period of time there since his appointment where he just had to survive in the Premier League and try and get Forest into a point to a point where they had the potential to gain more points The Following season so I think everybody gets a clean slate it wasn't really time for too much experimentation so by and large he stuck with those players that were were tried tried and tested and and didn't Tinker too much he's had an opportunity now to stamp a bit of a an influence on on Recruitment and Omar Richards has been delivered fully fledged ready to play and has had the chance to impress he'll be super motivated and I do see I do see a star in which he forces his way into that side he'll have a lot to do to display solarena who was one of the standouts I thought last season but wouldn't it be good if he could run him close maybe get on a bench a couple of games early in the season have some minutes and see what he can do because you don't play for Bayern Munich without being a a player of serious ability and and I have the the potential to develop even further I think Omar Richards could yet Be an Effective Premier League player and I'd be pleased to see him get his chance yeah I really hope he has a season where he's just fit and eligible to play and maybe around that first car about Cup game you look at him for a start and if he's playing really well then maybe Nico is the one who comes under pressure and Ana can play on the right but it's good to have those options and when you remember him and at reading him and Alis went together and now Alis is the one at Bayern Munich and and flying but like temp says uh at least a Omar Richards was at Bayern Munich he's obviously very talented so we could see him playing uh and flying the other one to talk about from those games Gary is um sangar and I get I know it's only Chesterfield and sundland but he looks physically more mobile and sharper he looks more confident he's pinging you know 60 yard balls rather than looking a bit you know Dearing headlights he did at times last season do you hold out hope for him now he's come back looking he looks hungry to be fair to him he looks motivated well we all know he's got you know so much ability uh it's been given that chance to show that ability give him that freedom to show what he's made of and I don't think he he got a regular sort of start enough maybe to to prove a point you know he was playing in a struggling team and sometimes when you're in that situation it's not not very easy you know because you're expected to be the one to stand out and to do this and to pull the strings in Midfield and you know that that pressure can take its toll on you because in that position in Midfield you're deemed to be the playmaker you the one who's got to make the passes you're the one who's got to contribute you're the one who's got to bring the strikers into play and uh you know you can get that load on your shoulders and it can get to you as an individual um I just think Nuno by the time he's he's got the the season start he's just got to get no doubt in his mind what is best 11 are he has to get that very quickly in his mind and he'll give everybody a chance to prove a point I think but by you know a week before you just want to know that starting 11 and uh you know sangari is good enough to get in that starting 11 without a doubt but you know it's all about hard work it's all about consistency and uh it's very difficult to get consistent when you're not a regular player in the side all the time so it'd be very interesting to see how he starts this season yeah people in the comments referencing you know um malaria I think he had when he came back um from afcon at one point so yeah lots of mitigation for him certainly um I can hear every keystroke when you type by the way I hope other people uh can't when you yeah sending your work whatsapps or whatever it is but yeah I could see Matt's face grimacing as you're typing I was enjoying it was actually sending something through saying what a good presenter you were Gary about the five minutes you wasted between 11 and 1105 in the comments I think so I think so last player we talk about before we get into some possible starting LS and a bit of transfer chat um Elliot Anderson we discussed him a little bit uh I really like how he's looked so far Greg he receives the ball in really clever positions uh and he's always kind of on the half you can see what's in front of him you can see he's a player I guess can't you yeah and you can see why Newcastle didn't want to let him go uh he's going to be a real headache cuz he's in a area of the park that's quite busy for and full of talent and fantastic that nuno's got to start fitting these quality players in and I really do think he's going to play a lot of games for us he's young Fair he he he speaks really well as well after the games when he's done his interviews you can tell he's hungry to play uh and he could be an unbelievable Talent you know the the price tag comes with so much pressure but he doesn't seem to to be feeling that and he's exciting and I really hope that they somehow find a place for him because it's is certainly not going to be in place of of a Gibbs white but he could he could contribute massively for us this season so yeah excited and I'm glad You' spoke about sangari as well because he has been good and he is worthy of a second chance I feel this season yeah he he has been good quite a few of them have been good um young Um Zack Abbott as well uh Center half's an interesting one uh maybe you know a loan for him morera the right back morera was brilliant against just field he was down our side of the pitch for the second half and yeah really really good but it is preseason against a recently promoted side out of the national league so Liverpool but you still got to play and he played well so it was it was good that's what you can do Greg you know preseason you are playing for your place in that starting 11 first game of the season that's pure and simple you don't expect if if you are on the periphery you want to prove a point to the manager saying right look at me that's what it's all about as well you know it's about Fitness but the people who don't get in regular it's about them giving the manager a headache and saying right you know you ignore me at your peril you know look what I've done in any game whether it's Chesterfield whether it's you know donc cter Port butches as you Pete Taylor used to say um you know it doesn't matter you know you're there to prove a point and you know if the manager sees that then you know you'll get a chance hopefully there's two things that made me smile so far this preseason now we clearly are an established Premier League outfit now and the Paul Chesterfield Stadium announcer at to announce the 10 changes at half time for forest and uh had a bit of nightmare with a couple of the names and then seeing the um what do they call it when the new players have to stand up and sing a song or what have you the oh yeah initiation initiation and these fantastic songs that none of us have ever heard of but off the players clearly had and uh no it's just it's good to see it's good see that this that comraderie and a good team spirit so far um Ellie Anon as well on the fee it's interesting because um both the athletic and the telegraph reported effectively 15 million which means we sold the codos for 20 million which is mental uh but it just shows that we had the very strong hand in that deal with Newcastle and it looks really good business if that's that's accurate I'm sure he has 20 million for a codas n none of us would have seen that coming when you signed for new clubs Gary or players came in was there ever any kind of initiation that you can talk about here obviously it wasn't standing up and singing but what it's a little bit different uh in today's game that it was when we played uh you know I I went to Manchester United didn't do very well there was a joke shop in Nottingham and I I bought some itching powder and when I got there I put itching powder in Lum macari's clothes and Jimmy Jimmy Nichols and Martin booken and they just just watching them just taking the clothes off and having to jump jump in the shower was just you know I got it was a reverse thing I got my I got my retaliation in first before they had to go at me but it was it was a drinking session in those days you know the that that was the initiation you know you went out and you made that player who came to your Club very very welcome did everything you could to you know Embrace his talent and his ability and you know make him feel at home it was that that's how it was I mean I can remember going to Grimsby and I was nervous going to Grimsby but I had Keith Alexander at Grimsby who I played with on league in Nottinghamshire and he was brilliant you know in introducing me into the uh you know the group and you you want P people like that who can do that because you know people in the dressing room are very important you know you need somebody who's got the now to be able to you know pick up on you know what's going wrong or uh you know try and lead them in the right direction you don't want one Captain you want a team of captains and you know luckily through my career you know I had that in abundance L marar is an absolute Saint by the way the work he does in Stoke with Hess I don't if you're aware but yeah Wonder United I thought he was going to be the Drinker you know this that and the other big you know Big Time Charlie wasn't at all didn't drink he lik to bet on horses but what a what a top bloke he was they all were at man united they couldn't have been you know friendlier and more helpful for me uh let's just take a word for our sponsors the Trent navigation uh since we've got a Trent Bridge theme s fing works for Trent bridge and Fs host the match they experience at the nav the premier league isn't too far away now uh first home game in less than a month so enjoy the pre-match experience at the na before heading to the city gr and thanks as ever for the support of everyone there right uh Greg's got to go in 15 minutes so we'll try and rattle through uh a few extra bits I did a couple of Graphics because you can see from the friendlies maybe the formation of what Nuno wants the team to look like so I've done a couple of 11s uh we can just chat through them he's played three at the back excuse me in both games I do wonder if this is what he wants to do and you can sort of see a team emerging um so I'll read out what I've got here uh for people who are listening not watching and we can chat around it I've got sales in goal and that's only because there isn't a picture of cars Miguel in the datab base for what I use yet I know I know so I've just stuck sales in for now but I do suspect caros Mel might end up being the one and then if we play a back three I think it's going to be something like as with the players we've got now uh milenovic Bol and Murillo Wing backs look pretty nailed in Williams and AA Ana and then there's a good debate in Midfield but I've got sangar and Danilo here at the moment and then a front three sort of of Hudson Do's been playing really wide on the left and obviously looking to cut in as it's works so well Gibbs white has played tucked in uh and there's been no right winger and I've put a one up front uh obviously Chris Woods being there Taio missed the first couple of friendlies one I think might have been an injury and the other was a personal issue but he's out in the out in Spain with the squad now which is good to see I guess um temps the one that misses out here in this formation is probably a Langer because you're kind of accommodating Gibbs white he's played very Central what do you think of that formation uh do you like it or is it too much of a sacrifice because I think Nuno does like it does like it but I hope we find a way to play back four as well because that's how we get the dual threat of Callum Hudson adoy and Anthony Langer and really make teams think really pin the fullbacks really take our game to them it also relies on Ibrahim sangar being the player that he seems to be against Chesterfield rather than the player he seems to be in the 23 24 season so they're they're the two big talking points for me I think that that Center half pairing of marilo and um I'm not even going to try and become Chesterfield Stadium announcer our new signing could be really Progressive um milenovic has outstanding stats for retaining possession accurate short passes and we all know Millo can ping a channel ball and a diag with with relative ease so I like that Nico second half the season fantastic all Ana so consistent throughout so I just wonder if if Willie B misses out at times or at least we have a plan B for a back four so we can get that that front four on the pitch more often of Tyro Morgan gives white Hudson doy and Andy Langer because I don't know so I feel his the pace is such a threat it's so hard to defend against and whilst he missed a few chances the the manner in which he needs to be guarded against do create space for for everyone else so yeah the goal you've got the goalie wrong here straight from the off I think this is the the shape that um know will prefer and start the season with but I just hope we find a way to to flick a switch and have that back form we can because Al Langer and Hudson Ado are real threats and and I think will be even more effective for us this season be an would be one of the first names on my team Sheet uh after his performances back into the last season I thought he the threat he possessed for his going forward was as good as anybody at times U but alanga he had more assists than Gibbs White you know and uh his Pace when he was him and one you were in the team together you know Defenders hate pace and you know if you've got that on a regular basis ask any Defender they that's the one thing they're scared of and uh you know I I think it'd be a little bit you know not cruel to leave him out but um yeah he's a threat without a doubt and I think he's a constant threat when you have got that ability to go past people and some of the goals he created last season were particularly good when you got somebody like with the pace of a one when he's fit um you know he's going to get on the end of things and uh yeah be very interested in that first 11 against Bournemouth I think Gibbs white ended up on 10 assists a couple of them were passing it to Hudson adori to curl in and Langer ended up on nine so but he he really was you know the classic assist of um Crossing it to the back post more so I want to ask you before Greg comes in um just on the strikers Gary then I know you think we need another one um but as the two we have right now I put a one in this team Tyro has missed a couple of friendlies but if he looks fit and flying who would you prefer for game one a onee or wood if they're both fit I I would say a onee because you know he's his pace and his physical threat uh he's a nuisance you know's he's every night Center half's nightmare he'll go beyond he'll come to the ball he'll hold it up um you know and he he's he's he's got that Knack of being in the right place at the right time uh you know Chris Wood did brilliantly last season you know when he came in then it it tailed off a little bit and he got a little bit of stick I think unfairly you know the games against was it man city where you know he he he fluffed it a little bit but he's still getting he was still brave enough to get in the positions to be able to miss things and that that's a sign of a good Striker it's very difficult when things aren't going for you you know to you could hang out and perhaps you shouldn't I did it when I was at man united I can remember and uh that's it's one big regret you should always have The Bravery to go in there and miss it um but you keep hearing these little things about AI you he's never fit he's never fit there's always something wrong yeah well hopefully if he starts 100% fit you know we'll see the best of him and you know the consistency of him you know was in dribs and drabs at times last season um but I I would still get another striker in if at all possible you know because both of them got injured uh we lost two Center halfs on in the same game within minutes last season so that those things can happen I think it's you know you got go for Stella signing you know a little bit you're not going to get the big big stars Striker wise but the the strikers out there who you know you could maybe get involved and bring to the club yeah I I I always favor um a one I think this come here T put he's got such a high ceiling like he's a real proper Premier League quality 15 goal Striker if if he can stay fit if we do sign another Striker I was thinking about this earlier as well I kind of hope it's someone who can play a couple of positions to get them in the team like Liverpool have got jotter and gakpo Arsenal have got havs um Spurs have got son obviously those are higher up the table but there are examples of player players that can that can stay wide uh and make you know still influence the game and not be sat on the bench for for big money doing nothing um what do you think of that team Greg and um any particular players that you want to talk about it's the defense and obviously the new goalkeeper it's like we're setting up to stop the crosses and that's the our biggest killer isn't it and having that height at the back it's going to save us so many points so many points because we know we can attack we know we can get teams on the counter we know we can score goals but it's what's been happening at the other end that's been killing us so uh my only other thing and I agree with some of the things in the comments I think there's only one one player there that's the obvious Captain for me as well and that's Gibbs why he's gonna play every game he's clearly you know got the respect of his teammates and I think you look at that now and unfortunately Yates probably isn't going to be playing as many games the way it's going and so you know we need a proper Club captain and I think Gibbs White's nailed on for that but yeah going back to what you saying I mean for me it's what happens in defense is key to our season and I think we're really building something strong at the back it was interesting that obviously Joe Wars played two games but um Gibbs White's had the armband so I suspect that Morgan's going to be Club Captain this season which I I agree is is fine whether Joe deserve deserve or not yeah I think so I think so and minkovich is signing like I mean he's physically obviously big and strong uh and it just hopefully solves the set peace problem we are so interested I think in uh this guy talking of temp not pron play yako I think is his name who plays for Udan ay uh he's 25 and plays obviously a lot of ser experience had a good Euros with Slovenia they took um uh Portugal to penalties uh and he kind of fits the bill I think he's massive as well so I think we might need to bring in one more uh and if we do then I suspect we will be playing um three at the back uh I'll just put Meen kovic's graphic up as well because it shows how strong he is aerially um best best record in Ser half aerial Jewels last season this is taken from WT analysis on Twitter so do give uh him a follow what's Greg laughing at in the back I'm just like Kudos it looks brilliant I was thinking you've not done this and then you just said I've not done the graphics no it's very good though I mean yeah I like it thank you thank you be a compliment and then it went backhanded sorry I'll take a backhanded compliment he's the best I can get right let's look at uh the four at the back the 4231 which temp is referencing uh a few different names uh in here that we can chat about uh so the back four kind of picked itself I'll read out again for people who are listening or watching uh sales or Miguel in goal probably Miguel Williams minkovich Millo Ana and then in Midfield I've got sangar again and I've put Elliot Anderson in as an interesting debate there uh then elanga Gibs white Hudson adoy in support of well put wood here but it could be a wari I guess temps the big debate there is Midfield we've spent the money on Elliot Anderson it'd be nice to see him in but but then danilo's looked quite good um Nico Dominguez is playing as well there's Ryan Yates in the mix same old discussion but what's your Midfield to right now well first up that's a modern back four that's four guys come to on the ball he can pass it retain possession you're happy with them all bringing the ball out of Defense so I I'd enjoy that that is not a team that you you come up and try and survive in the Premier League with that's that's a year three let's impose ourselves let's make sure we're not just hoofing the ball into into areas as we were when we were naive and a little bit of a younger side getting turned over six to let Man City away so really like what's happening there there's a lot of faith being putting Ibrahim SAR by Mt Davis here he's had him as a Lynch in Midfield in both versions of this side and i' I've said consistently that I want him to be that but I've just seen no evidence of it while he's in a forest shirt aside from that man of the match performance against Chesterfield two weeks ago so he does have it within him to be an automatic pick he's got to do far more than he's he's done already Ryan Yates hasn't been mentioned yet and I know he's got limitations but he's found a way to get past these kind of players for the past two years now and you you can't help but think that his sounds it sounds diminishing but that kind of plooding consistency is something we're going to need at times we haven't even mentioned him yet Elliot Anderson I think he's more the understood to Gibbs white I know he is he is comfortable playing a little bit deeper but I think he's been bought in as a backup 10 rather than a 68 consistent starter Danilo for me seems to have that more of an all round game that I think could land him in that Central M Central Midfield birth regardless if if we're playing back three back four back five so I think I'd like to start the season um with Danilo and a another is it sangar if he has a strong showing in preseason I think it could be but we we've seen with our own eyes that he struggled to put back toback performances together in the Premier League so acid test there I'm not as convinced as you M Davis that he's he's going to be in the side for the first game or even after five games I want to see it I want him to live up to the hype but yeah it's h it's the league where it counts what's the point in bringing Anderson in if you're not going to play him back up from mgw I think you but you look at the the players in the European championships you know the young you know the youth you know the enthusiasm in not just the Spanish team I they were unbelievable but in other teams you know players were given a chance you know an early age and you know if they've got it you know give them that start you know because they they play without fear and if he's got that ability I mean I've not seen him play I've heard a lot about him but uh you know if Newcastle didn't want to lose him um you know there's something there because Newcastle you know they've been transformed under Eddie how and yeah he's obviously one of those players they thought would move on and be you know a big part of their team so I don't want a player like him to come here and get disart him by sitting on his backside all the time what I would say if ellot Anderson does come in and take that birth alongside denil that's the end of sangar we're not going to carry him in this squad if there's a way of accommodating Elliot Anderson and Morgan gibes White in the same side and he earns that Shir I think the period between this transfer window and January is the final for sangar and the the range of outcomes are so vast they from departing to one of the first picks in the team I I don't see a manner in which Elliott Anderson and morg gives white play together and sangar finishes the season at Forest I think it's about play it's about ceilings that's why um Yates isn't in the team because I love Ryan Yates obviously but how high can he how high can you get in the league with Ryan Yates and the team probably not to where the ambition the owner's Ambitions want to be but sangar in theory you know you can see what he can do he just hasn't done it and like like you say if you're not GNA play sangari as a six I'd kind of like to see Danilo play as a six and with Dominguez or Anderson he'd be quite open and attacking but they're players with more potential than than Yates much as I love him I think I definitely want him to be in the squad if he's starting Ryan Y is starting 30 OD games a season either he's really raised his game game again and risen to the challenge or or we're struggling so for me it would probably be sangar or Danilo right now as a six what do you think about that Midfield balance Greg before you have to go oh any other business as well tag that on the end quick I'd love to see Anderson and Gibbs White playing the same team I think it'd be a fantastic threat and opportunity and that's going to be nuno's biggest challenge and the players because you can already hear people going oh they weren't be able to play together or they can't play together but they can they certainly will be able to uh the little Joker in me is saying that we're building that Squad big enough for the eventual Europa League running a couple of seasons like these big teams have you know you need two equally good squads really um but again it's just exciting and sangor is being linked with with teams it seems now that seems to be getting a little bit louder keep hearing like 12 14 million would that be tempting enough for us I know we'd still lose but kind of could we're not selling him to Fen for 14 million surely I'd be stunned if we sold him yeah I I would but you know the these players ready to play aren't they and that's the thing that's why tempy saying you've really got to got to step up and show it and the competition can only be healthy in those areas especially those key areas in the pitch you know to have that much competition who' have thought that to a three years ago that would be like this saying that these all these players are almost too good to be on the bench but some of them are going to have to be and they're going to have to get used to it unless they manage to find something else which is the perfect situation for a team to be successful I'd say yeah I think the fee' have to be way higher to to sell sangari than 14 million now if he is looking bright any other business Craig you've got youve got go cuz my wife is threatening to release that video again if I uh don't talk about how you need to you need to qualify that video is cuz 99.9% of people watching have no idea so you might someone who looks like me being a little bit drunk on Saturday night after that's better temp's Hospitality all Saturday but um she is doing something amazing for stand against M andd and she's not much of a cyclist and she's committed to do the virtual L Ender Jonah Gro hammering the miles uh she's committed to do it before September the 25th as well which is Sam's birthday so it's a Big Challenge she started it on Wednesday she's already hit over 70 miles the downside is she's making me go out a bit with her as well so I've got to do 20 miles with her this this afternoon and I'm still struggling but her just giving is pinned to my Twitter at the top so if anyone enjoys a giving me stick and uh knowing what we're both like it's certainly a a decent Challenge and I'm very proud of her so if you can sponsor her please I'll give you some stick she considers being married to you a bit of charity work well yeah I mean n she's got it good really hasn't she uh yeah I'll put I'll put the link in the comment comments in the description as well if you can sponsor or that it be good right you gotta go thanks for Jo no I enjoyed it it's good to be back can't wait for the season good see thanks see Gary bye see if see if he can log himself out yeah he can right uh just before we finish a quick word for our second sponsors this episode good to have excuse me Global telemetrics back with us an award-winning vehicle tracking company responsible for Recovery of 39.4 million pounds worth of stolen vehicles they monitor a range of Smart track thatchum approved devices fit for customers needs from plant Machinery to looking after your car M well the car on the the picture uh is a Porsche belonging to one of the company owners apparently so they must know what they're doing for be able to afford one of those so yeah they must be uh good at what they do uh in June Global telemetrics are responsible for Recovery of 1.8 million pounds worth of stolen vehicles from Range Rovers to motor homes to Audi's BMWs Ford Fiestas and more so if you're looking for uh security device for your vehicle there're the people for you there's a link in the description uh as well for that one right uh just before we finish up any final thoughts on just how it's shaping up here Gary anything you'd like to see change uh how far short are we from where we really need to be when you look at other Premier League clubs obviously strengthening as well themselves is that a good enough team to get us where we want to be uh well you've gone with wood up front haven't you um I mean every year well yeah I mean yeah what we what we have in place how far short the important thing you know what system you know you know's going to start with I think we always look better I know you temps might not agree but three we three at the back with the you know the threat of the pace going down you know wide areas I think we you know the season before last we stayed up because of that system you know when we beat Arsenal the uh the one nil you know went to to that system and it it kept us up so you why not start with it it's uh it's worth it it's attacking you know it's it gives you know the players the freedom to get forward in good positions um yeah and it gives our attacking threat you know more potential to do that you know it gives them more you know where with all to go and you know get in the final third you know be you know create something around that final third so yeah I think um I'd like to see the three at the back you know maybe to start um just before temps comes in as well one other bit of transfer thing that I haven't really discussed uh Danny Taylor reporting right at the back end of last week around Forest willing to spend uh five million on recel May Felipe another South American Wonder kid from palus uh 17y old Winger but he couldn't officially join Forest until he turns 18 uh which would mean probably signing in or joining up in the January transfer window people will have notice if they watch the MLS as a 14-year-old who made his debut the youngest ever play in the MLS who's already signed for Man City but can't join them till he's 18 because of the rule changes but that's the way the game's going right temps any final thoughts on how we're shaping up based on what you see there how how far away are for our from where we need to be do you think let's not kid ourselves there's going to be more players in and out of forest between now and the end of the window we're nowhere near having concluded our business I do think we're going to make use of available loans and I think there are going to be players that emerge they get into this side the thing that I'm still probably most concerned about is our resolve being tested with with bids for Morgan Gibs white or Millo with through ffp if they leave they leave at our price and not that that the the market dictates not that which an agent dictates in trying to force these boys into a move and that's a good position for us to be in but I think I think I'm reflecting the sentiment of most of the comments and hopefully Gary as well and those with a more qualified opinion than mine I want to keep these players in the side I think if we were to spend that cash and to uh look to improve um the the squad as a a whole we we'd find ourselves having to bring in two or three players we're not going to go out there and sign someone for 55 60 million that's not what we do and that's not the motivation for selling so my hope and the sign of a successful window from this point would be starting game one with Millo more gives white in the side and closing the transfer window with Millo and more gives white in the side milinkovic when he played I didn't see a great deal of their games so because I was away um so what does he play in a back three or does he play in a back four he can play so fantina he's played in uh in both so people can watch the Adam Summerton video the BT Sports commentator and he said I think his best position is in the middle of a back three so uh but he's even played right back so um yeah 216 Ser games at the age of 26 I know you haven't seen what the national side what what did they play I can't I can't think you know what system they play I think they played a three at the back yeah I know we haven't seen too much him because we don't all watch load of ser or the Europa conference league but I guess g you know 26y old with 200 plus Ser games for 12 million it's a sign of you know progress of what we're doing isn't it yeah well if if he's if he's playing for in a three you would think that that's why he's been bought in you know with his you know the the games he's played at a high level uh maybe that's the case that you know gives it away a little bit that we might be starting three at the back yeah I mean he can play he has played literally in every you know played a four at the back on the I think the right of a four I think I was Adam was saying so yeah he's very accomplished I didn't I don't know how quick he is that's my only worry about the defense at the moment is if we play Bali and minkovich are we that rapid at the back but yeah we'll see how preseason um shakes up certainly right uh any other business temps before we depart no nothing to add don't read too much into preseason friendlies except there's lots of business still to be done and we'll only truly be a to J decide when the the league kicks off but so many reasons to be optimistic this is a a calm measured window to this point uh so much credit due to the club for the manner in which they shifted mangala and narte to avoid a fire sale of one of the prize assets and I think we should all take a lot of faith from those processes so far so I am optimistic if I'm going to nail myself to a prediction at this point I I think Forest will be six to 10 points um better off next season than they were this as a result of recruitment but also as a result of those players that were retaining um being so much more prepared and and accomplished as as they gear up for another season with more familiarity seems a lot of positivity about and that's what you want as a football supporter of any football club you know and we are for a supporters and you know we're desperate to see them you know start the season well we've got that opportunity with the fixtures they've been been quite kind to us um and once you get that confidence if you win those games then you can take that on and we've got a couple of decent new signings I'm sure there'll be maybe one or two more to come in and uh yeah I can't wait for the seasons to start now uh were you the T game yesterday in terms of any other business Gary did you go to the footprints game no I I couldn't I would you dearly wanted to go but U I wasn't able to um you know I've known Tony many many years um and he was a wonderful guy and uh yeah it was sad not to be there but you know going back and that's where you know my wife Samantha that's you know that's where her game was at basford you know brings back those sort of memories so uh yeah it's um it was one I wanted to go to but I couldn't yeah shout out to Footprints and Lisa Fox and basford put on a good game I Lewis and Kelvin played so I'll pick their brains they were on opposite teams so uh find out how that went for them World on temps as well for almost giving away all those free tickets uh for the test match I bet that was a logistical nightmare but uh you got some good PR from it yeah I don't think I particularly thank by the ticket office of putting them through the administration process of issuing 177,000 complimentary tickets only for England to smash the windy in that in that final session but you know we made these decisions with the the best of intentions um hopefully set a bit of a precedent for the desk grounds to follow when it comes to the treatment of supporters for for day five uh and ensuring that people can come and watch sport in a in an affordable manner but yeah as you can probably tell I've got some tired eyes here some tired feet me and G had a good chat during the game but it it wasn't all um hospitality and and bears you know the Greg Mell experience as I like to call it um some of us had to had to graft um particularly tired at this moment in time and looking forward to having a pizza with the grounds with nothing else in a little celebration we got at lunchtime but yeah brilliant week at Trent Bridge Cricket scenes Upon Us Rockets are here today um but very much looking forward to the 17th of August and the return of Premier League football very good very good uh last one for me just quickly is um we've launched our FPL mini league so if you play uh the link is in the description and the code uh but the code is lowercase E6 lowercase o yv1 uh so check out Link in the description and I'll put it in the comments as well on YouTube hopefully sign up we were discussing FPL on uh Saturday with Mark and I totally forgot to to plug it so that was uh yeah it's there now so do sign up right we're back tomorrow speaking of Mark we'll do a post match show after the MW game with uh him and Emily's gonna join me so uh do uh join us for that if you can and then we'll be back on Wednesday uh as well with something uh looking back on that and whatever mat I tell you what Emily will be delighted when she comes back if the E Anderson up she'll be yeah that's me yeah easy shirt on the back easy name on the back of the shirt yeah God how much are those shirts by the way is that temps is it 95 quid for a shirt is that just commercial reality now that that strikes me as a lot of C hey I point the wrong bit I'm team Adidas not a bad word against them do a fantastic job for me and Forest I think the the price the price of football is um is getting out of hand isn't it at time s uh and yeah I can't I can't defend the commercial realities and you part of my job is is setting prices and make making those decisions in cricket but what I will say is Adidas has done a great job on the shirts having a fully bespoke Adidas kit for the um for the home home kit with the the Stars represented the European Cup Stars represented in the design um is something I think we're all all proud of and you I for one will be at the front of the queue to um to grab a home shirt pretty soon oh is it any other business can I just say something my grandson Oscar he's gone to Cologne today with school he's 12 and he's taken the number nine shirt with burtles on the back and he's going to the cologne ground with that wearing that to rub it in a little bit so well done Oscar well done Oscar love it love it Grand C yeah uh and now I'm looking for the shirt on the forest website because I'm not sure I only saw that price on Twitter so if I've got that wrong and it's actually less than that I think I think it's 90 quid if you have the Premier League badge and a name to your back I think it's 75k ah right good yeah good clarification so 75 quid which to me is still mad money but I know people uh you know people love buying shirts and they'll pay it but yeah price of football is pretty mad right uh back tomorrow like I said good to have so uh many people with us uh 350 or so uh pretty much to our do us a favor if you haven't already hit like on the video uh that is a big help subscribe to the channel
