welcome to Jacksonville Alabama a hidden gym a few miles from the border of Georgia and home to the Gamecock of Jacksonville State where these fans are fired up for this showdown about to play out on verg snowfield we've got a sensational match up for you fans have been filing in and getting ready for this game as we'll see a squad from the Sun Bel the Carolina Shanta clear taking on a team from Conference USA the Jacksonville State Gamecocks for EA Sports college football I'm ree Davis joined here in the booth as always by David Pollock and Jesse Palmer guys let's tee this one up the shot that clears will boot it away to start the [Applause] game here he comes from inside his own five really disciplined job by the coverage unit to get down there and make theop the 19 the Gamecock offense will get the first crack at it here and there he is when you build a tight end you'd build one just like this especially with those reliable mitts Jesse Yeah ree he makes big plays in big games watch for him on third down in the Red Zone he has a chance to leave an impact in this game well it's so nice to have such a big body that when he's covered he's open right like it doesn't matter cuz he's got great hands and that big frame he can really utilize it's going to be important this defensive line is able to get a little bit of push you just got to give this guy an inch a little crease and he can make yards for you halfway there on first down it's second and five give to the running back picks his way and gets four out to the 27 just a simple power play again not sexy run the ball up the middle physicality offensive line gets to assert themselves run block which they love to do pays dividends down the road in the fourth quarter third down and they'll need two on this initial Drive of the game trying play action fires to the big fella that one could really put this drive into high gear as they have a first down at the 37 the number one goal as a defense is try to hit the QB as many times as possible try to Rattle him try to get him flustered a little bit nice job getting there getting the hit on him but nice job of executing by the quarterback taking the hit delivering the strike to the air it's Turner quickly out to the tight end and he'll be marked down right there still short of the first down a nice job by the defense there tackling the catch and smothering the tight end they know this offense is going to try to find him in the passing game in a lot of different situations that time perfect coverage and nice job bringing the big guy down not easy to do they'll try the Run no where to run on that when he loses four on the carry yeah when you get penetration by that defense right away and there's no way to cut at all for that back he gets destroyed right away no way that play was going to be successful way too much penetration they line up with some serious work to do if they want to convert this one trying to move the sticks on third down through the air got it set up on the outside defense was not fooled by that screen to the back and they'll stop him short of the marker it'll be fourth down one of the things I love about this defense is they just have such great awareness and they're always communicating they understood the down and distance they knew exactly what they needed to do to make the tackle to force the punt that is so well done the game Cox will try to pin them back with the punt this will be their first punt of the afternoon he'll call for the fair catch here the shant to clear's offense will go to work for the first time as we take a look at our impact players for this one what are you looking for Jesse for a guy to make an impact well these are simply put the leaders of this football team and generally games go how these guys play if they make plays they've got a shot to win this one no doubt they got to show up these are the team leaders these guys have to play well if they're going to win the football game well it's plays like that that will help offense stay in Rhythm all game long if you can have that kind of success on first down running the football it just opens up your entire Playbook moving forward good spot after that seven yd pickup on first down it's second and three to the air it's Basco quickly complete a quick tackle made but he's got plenty for the first down for an offense slant routes against man coverage are really a rhythm throw you take your steps you get the ball out it's got to be in a good location receiver on the same page there with a first down they'll snap it from the 32 on the ground it's Bennett Oh What A Move good job running tough and behind his Pad as he gets up to the 38 yd line I know it's sexy to throw the football but if you can pound it away and get these kind of gains they will just add up wear the defense down get first downs and ultimately get some points sixy pickup on first down leaves him with second and four it's a draw they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one you know you got to be careful when you're running the draw play because you're hoping those defensive ends get way up the field thinking it's pass didn't happen that time and the defense was able to get a negative play a third down drive for the offense [Applause] from the gun wants to pass extending the play Nifty little Scamper on this one enough for the first down and he slides in safely sometimes you just got to give credit like we had it covered we knew it was a pass uh cover everything covered underneath but the quarterback does such a good job of making that second play something special pulling it down getting the down pretty easy and the Shanta clears are rolling down the field off the play fake on first down to throw and the Freshman will talk up a sack when it's a playaction pass that quarterback he really has to sell the fake he can't tell his offensive lineman's getting beat right away while he's selling the fake he had no shot second down now after the sack quick hand off and they're able to shove him to the turf as they stop him for a short gain and the running back didn't get much there nice job by the defense you can tell they're focused in on this running back on this run game being physical getting knock backs and his carries seventh play of the drive coming up but a long way to go on third down looking down field it's Vasco safe completion on the screen and that one looked great on the grease board but when they blow it up like that the defense is going to win every time they tried to set up that screen the problem was David they left a big hole in it for the tackle and just a great job by the defense like that's a fool you play that's a trick you play get you to run up field rush the passer slip it behind you the defense did not bite great play great job stopping him on third down no return coming he'll call for the fair catch guys we'll see what Jacksonville State can get going on own that last Drive fizzled out Jesse they had to punt it yeah they did and David they're just going to have to do a better job this time around erasing the mental mistakes and just trying to solve the defensive riddle understanding what they're trying to do to you and attack them well the defense playing Zone cover they're taking away all of the QB's primary options down the field so he has to check it down to the drag running underneath right on target with that last pass now it's second and medium the give to the back stuffed almost in his track but strong enough to pick up one to the 35 these are the types of plays where offenses impose their will third and short from the 45 movement here from the tight end he'll keep it himself still on his feet at the 45 touchdown Jacksonville State and once he found daylight it was Katie Bar the Door baby I mean talk about hard to like so many weapons so much speed and then your quarterback is going to go 50 plus defensive coordinators that's why nobody wants to play defense anymore coach defense you want to be on the offensive side of the football CU otherwise you got to defend weapons like these that are just weapons of mass destruction they'll try to attack one more on their score and with the extra point they get the first seven of the game quick strike offense on that three playay scoring drive and he capped it off with a 65 yd touchdown run they're just about ready to kick it away [Applause] on the move from inside is five he was looking for some Running Room but not much to be found as he stopped at the 18 Coastal Carolina has it the Shanta cleer offense headed back to the field one back in the back field and they'll give it to it out across the 20 to the 21 yd line a three yd gain and that's a really nice play it's impressive when it's first down the defense thinks you might be running the football you still can line up you can get some movement at the point of attack and find a little crease for your running back got three on first down it's second and [Applause] seven they give it to him again got the first down looking for more and a really nice run and pick up there before the defense avoided disaster and stopped the really big play and here we go if you're an offense you got to get that ground gain going so you can have some balance and then you give it to your quarterback Palmer and let him make some plays down the field later on yeah exactly you know coming into this game this offense knew they were going to have to someway somehow at least establish the semblance of a running game for exactly what you just said you got to be able to use play action pass later in this game to get some explosive plays down the field and it's a play like that that we just saw which can help them get that going after picking up a couple at second and eight they'll give it to the back they get him on the ground but not before he gets enough for the first down and I don't care if I get it by two by 20 by 30 by 40 I just I just want to get the first down understanding the situation understanding where the sticks are doesn't have to be sexy but I got to make sure I get to that stick get to the first down Mark the shot that clear have their offense in high gear they've got him looking run now they're going to throw it fires to the wide out how about getting the foot down on that throw for the big completion throwing the comeback looks like such a simple throw but the timing is so important and as a quarterback man this is all about trusting your guy you know exactly where he's going to sit it down you anticipate it you throw it you know he's going to come back and make that play for [Applause] you using his legs it's Bennett and he was fortunate not to lose yardage on that play able to wedge it back to the line of scrimmage well you love to see that from the defense right it's like Ben don't break they've given up a bunch of plays on this drive but now that they're getting down close to field goal range you're seeing them start to stiffen up there yeah and plays don't matter anymore yards don't matter all that matters with these defenses nowadays is points and limiting them they'll go to the ground they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one that DB had story he had something to say coming up making a physical tackle seventh play of the drive coming up but a long way to go on third down looking for a man it's Basco throws to the wide out working that left side and he was loose and in the open field and on his way A tremendous pick up on that one man this offense is so dangerous Rees they've got dudes all over the field that can make plays there's a big gainer in the pass game you get a chunk of yards like that now the defense is really on its [Applause] heels they'll move the running back to try to force the defense to adjust catch in the middle it's Coleman they'll Mark him down to the excellent execution on that throw and catch and after giving up that completion guys I wonder if the defense is going to decide to stay in zone or maybe mix things up a little more man coverage maybe Blitz and the shot to clear is trying to get a touchdown on first and [Applause] goal he makes the connection that completion has them right on the doorstep they'll mark it at the one and I tell you what when you stick these fast suckers in the slot they don't have to be big but you get those guys that are so quick in the slot they can get great matchups and I can get the ball to them quick because they're such Dynamic Playmakers looking for just one more yard it's second and goal quarterback on the keeper and he runs it in for the score touchdown shot de clear a methodical Drive Soul crushing breaking and it ends in a touchdown and listen I know everybody wants the big plays the big long touchdowns and all that stuff but putting a drive together like that is very difficult to do time and time again and it's demoralizing for the defense great drive by the offense P unit on the field right down the boulevard so a drive there of 82 yards and they capped it off with a one yd plunge all tied up and just about set to kick it away and he takes this from inside the five good job by the coverage unit to put a stop to that return Jacksonville State has it back in in the game Cox will go to work now they need to put something together to answer that last score there's a lot of pressure too on this offense to have to execute at a high level they've got to score points David but they can't go too fast cuz their defense right now is tied and I think that's the difficulty being a play call like I have to balance all of those things my defense is a little bit tired I can't put on the field but I got to be aggressive because this is a back and forth type game so a lot to process and think about it'll be a first and 10 from the 29 used the play fake now to throw wide open downfield and they'll finally bring him down after he rips off a huge play that was a really nice catch and an even better run after the grab yeah and get the ball to your playmaker what's good about having him in the slot is he can go either direction you can get him matched up on somebody that's not as fast and you watch he can run away from those linebackers or safeties running back searching for a hole and he fights his way forward gets away from one but not much doing on that one great job by the whole defense but how about the little bitt defensive back throwing his face in the fan I ain't scared I don't just cover guys I make tackles got stuffed on first down it's second and 10 on the Run it's Turner working the middle of the field and it's complete put it right on him sweet play good pick up and they'll move the change with the first down we got to give the o line a lot of credit there because it gave the receiver time to work all the way across the field on the drag route against Zone coverage quarterback gets it to him he's able to turn it up and get a first down and the Gamecock have it with a first and 10 he's going to pass he want to take the top off and the DB right with him to knock it away nice job in coverage there offense trying to take a shot down field the defender able to tip that one up in the air and force it incomplete they'll try again on second down after the incompletion out of the gun the inside hand off to the running back and the defense finally makes the stop after the sweet run and good gain well the defense knew coming into this one it was going to be a physical game guys are going to have to be great at the point of attack and get off blocks and make tackles it couldn't stop the offense from picking up that first down on that run play they're in the Red Zone first and 10 from the 20 he'll pull it on the read got some room headed to the goal line they'll finally get him stopped at the one Y Line what a run there well this is one of the fastest quarterbacks in college football and that's why the option's a good idea because if he can get out in space and he has a chance to get down field he is really difficult to tackle and he's very difficult to catch as you saw in that last play getting a first down trying to barge in and he'll find The End Zone touchdown Jacksonville State now that's the to bail out the rest of the team start with bad field position put together a drive anyway and very confident you can see the quarterback just had a bit of a swager Reese he was like look all right we're starting deep in our own end special teams didn't help us out but we can fix that right now fellas and they went out and looked so good on that last Drive ready to try the point after and the P gives him a 147 lead lining up to cover the kick after that touchdown [Applause] Drive he'll bring it back from inside to SP really disciplined job by by the coverage unit to get down there and make the stop at the 19 Coastal Carolina takes over and here comes the offense they go to the ground crosses the 30 Got Away gets it pass the marker for a first down and that's the way we will wrap up the first quarter guys Jacksonville state has the lead here as we've reached the end of the quarter one period in the books and let's take a look at the stats they'll break the seal on this quarter here on first [Applause] down they try to pop a run on the draw he's brought down but not before they pick up the big first down I love when players understand situations and they understand where the first down marker is and they understand where I got to get to a lot of people you'll see run north south and try to bounce out wide and make big plays sometimes it's not about making big play sometimes it's about getting that first down to make sure I get an extra set of downs instead of trying to make those big touchdown runs makes his man miss this defense has got to get better at tackling in the open field or game tackling because if you need three or four guys to bring a guy down have fun with that halfway there on first down it's second and five they'll switch it up here and look to throw unloads to the wide out catch in the middle it's Colman and he's brought down after a nice game and I love the awareness by the wide receiver on that play because I'm not sure that route was supposed to be that deep you got to wonder if the receiver decided maybe to adjust the route a little bit to make sure that he got the first down the shot that clears want to crank the tempo [Applause] hand off from the gun he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple they're trying to run the football there's just nowhere to go for the ball carrier inside he tried to bounce it to the outside that linebacker way too fast he met him there Force the tfl the negative play leaves them with second and 12 back to pass it's Vasco and that's going to be inmp complet a lot of contact on the play but no Flags it'll be third down what a hit by the defender that's a good throw and that was going to be caught but how about the defender dislodging the football from its intended target nice job a third and long coming up here from the gun wants to pass he's got it touchdown What A Catch and run for six how about the Renaissance of the tight ends inline flexed out split out they can do a little bit of everything they really can and their ass to block a lot of the times too but I tell you what all the wide receivers out wide the fancy toys the fancy spread don't forget about that tight end he does a little bit of everything and then you reward the big fell throwing the ball and he catches so he really can do a little bit of everything in an offense getting set for the point after splits the upright so an 82 yd drive there and they finish things off with a scoring toss from the 33 after that latest answer tied things up just about set to kick it away again on the run from inside his zone five nice job executing all of the assignments as they put a stop to that return at the 22 guys we'll see what Jacksonville State can get going on own some misdirection with the counter getting that push a pick up a four out to the 26 when you're a defense it is stop the run first that is your first responsibility it makes the whole game easy and right now they got it going on the ground the defense is going to have to change something up these little tiny Dink and dunk Dink and dunk you keep doing this they'll go all the way down the field on you so you might want to get a little bit more aggressive from the gun the ground game got enough for the first and he still going and they'll finally get him down after a terrific pick up offensive coordinators just spend all offseason in a lab and they just draw up stuff over and over again how many times can I use misdirection how many times can I use speed against the linebackers who flow so fast to the football really nice play design a little misdirection the defense didn't know what hit him big game for the offense looking for a gap it's Lewis and a nice second effort by the back to break a tackle but how about those defensive backs willing to come up stick their face in the fan and make a tackle those are the best run defenses to right it's not just D linman and linebackers getting all the plays but it's DBS that are willing to not just cover but tackle backs in the open field wants to throw it's Turner fires to the wide out just masterful working that sideline and getting the toe down for the catch and a really good job by the quarterback being very decisive he saw his matchup he went for it he attacked it got the positive gain I would say he's going to find that that guy a few more times today the Gamecock come to the line in the hurry up they'll run it from the gun pull down at the 29 after getting five I I like it just frustrate the defense get that five to six yards make them onor the Run make them know that you're willing to run the football and run it effectively halfway there on first down it's second and five off the play fake lets it fly deep down field and it's intercepted a turnover for the defense going the other way and he's got room still on his feet he's at the 30 the 10 touchdown goal Carolina and this defense coming up with points of their own what an interception return the DB saw it he thought don't drop it don't drop it then thought don't get caught don't get caught and he didn't the pick six hey these guys can play offense too now look at this I showed you I can be a wide receiver coach might split him out at wide receiver next week after making that big play but defense great job making the interception and you're right doing something with it don't just slide down don't be content take that thing all the way back brother they'll try to add another to their [Applause] lead and with the extra point the score is now 21- 14 they're lining up to kick it off after the pick six and that defense will come out feeling it he'll start the return inside his five really disciplined job by the coverage unit to get down there and make the stop at the 19 Jacksonville State has it back in the Gamecock will go to work he'll start this drive firing throws to the wide out it's caught down field he will step out of bounds but not before the big pick up and a first down for this offense nice job there good timing between the QB and the wide receiver executing that out route with the first down they'll put it in play from the 33 here's the hand off just will his way for a coupled out to the 35 and those physical runs take a toll it might not be a big game now but down the road third fourth quarter late in the ball games they tend to turn into bigger runs picked up two yards on that last one they need eight on second down to throw it's Turner unloads to the wide out it's caught good job running that route to get past the sticks because he got nothing after the catch and you got manto man coverage you're running that Cur route that ball has to come out you know you're going to get hit like you know you stopped your route he's going to be right there but does a great job securing the catch getting the first down and the gamec come to the line with a fresh set of downs they'll run it out of the shotgun yeah this coaching staff they're getting this offensive line lathered up and into a rhythm now they're letting them drive off the ball on first down on these running plays and they're getting chunks of yard they can really be aggressive after that last play it's second and three now the play F fires to the wide out he's got it and they reacted well to the completion but it was too late to keep him from getting the first down man it's so important when you play QB I got to know when to put some air on it and I got to know when tock rocket that thing in there working the middle of the field he knew he needed the rocket threw it in there great job great catch from the 30 yd line on first down give to the back they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one how about the defender being a heat seeking missile he was on radar lock he found the football and flew down with some bad intentions lost yardage on that last one it's second and 11 he's looking to throw gets it out fast they make the stop but not before he sets them up with a first and goal from the 10 and there was no question in that scenario that's where the quarterback was going he knew he had his receiver in a matchup that he liked running a route where he would find himself opening nice job between those two the Gamecock will try to put one on the board on first and goal he wants to throw heau it he gets it in touchdown game cop all tied up after that possible shootout coming the offense does its job and now the pressure switches back to the other offense points out of Prem [Music] on to attempt the try hit that one with some aggression for the point after they put together an 81 yd drive and they finish it off by connecting from 10 yard out and we're all square as he's set to kick it away here he comes from inside his own five nice job executing all of the assignments as they put a stop to that return at the 22 Coastal Carolina has it the Shanta cleer offense headed back to the field out of the gun the inside G and a pick up of eight opens a world of opportunities on second and two coaches always harp about staying ahead of the chains and when you can run with that type of efficiency on first down man you are doing just that got eight on first down now looking at a second and two [Applause] they'll go with a direct snap tackled but he has a first down man that was a good run but it was almost even better great job by the offense keep the running game going you get big chunks Like This Not only was that a big chunk it also looked like it could have gone for more now from the 40th first and 10 [Applause] leaves it with the running back turns it on in Midfield After Burner coming pass the 10 touchdown shot to clear and once he found some daylight it was time to make a house call I love the execution on that play great blocking up front just to get the ball carrier an opportunity in the second level of the defense and then at that point it was make a guy Miss and use the speed that was a perfectly executed play ling up to add another [Applause] and the extra point is true and they're on top by seven quick strike offense on that three playay scoring drive and they finish a deal with a 60yd run to the house almost ready to kick it away after scoring the [Applause] touchdown on the move from inside is five just never had a chance to shake loose and he'll be brought down at the 24 guys we'll see what Jacksonville State can get going on o the way this game started you feel as if you have to score a touchdown every time you have it and now we'll see if they can respond yeah and I wonder how much pressure that puts on the offense Jesse like you know this is back and forth and I got to score and every possession matters so much what does that do to you as a quarterback well it puts a lot more pressure on you for sure to feel like I got to make every third down throw if guys are open vertically down the field I got to hit them too we can't let our serve get broken looking to scramble they get enough rush and it pays off the sack at the 20 what a great play by the defensive tackle look sacks aren't just for very athletic long defensive ends these D tackles man they use their strength they push lineman back in the pocket collapse it and come away with the sack you make up the game and not a lot on the play sheet for this third and long from inside their own 20 back to throw it's Turner gets it out quickly still running up the 40 oh look out and after gobbling up some serious yardage and showing off those Wheels he's finally out of bounds I know it's early in the game but defensively after that play you know you have to tackle the catch when this guy gets the ball in his hands he is so dangerous after the fact so it's okay for him to make catches just got to get him to the ground quickly comes out throwing on first down grabbed over the middle it's Paul they make the stop right there good pick up it's still short of the first down guys out of the back field now it's not just run the ball downhill anymore you got to be versatile I got to be able to trust you in the pass game and I got to be able to throw you the football and you can do that right there I know you're going to catch it and I can depend on you and the game look to do some damage in the Red Zone pulls and throws out the RPO he's brought down but he's got him inside the 10 first and goal from the nice completion here to this wide receiver and you're going to see this receiver line up in different spots all over the field all game long defense has got to keep their eye on where this guy is because they know he's a big part of this offensive success the Gamecocks are moving quickly down the field they'll dial up the run on first and goal pushes ahead for two to the seven yd line defense roll up deep in its own end on that last play now a second and long coming the run up the middle here looking for a path to the end zone he pushes it forward all the way to the two yd line and with the stuff there Jesse on second down this little third to midrange you got two downs what do you thinking here maybe getting your quarterback out on the perimeter and giving him a run pass option see if you can get the defense in a bind they've gotten right on the cusp of the end zone they still need two yards will they try to bang it in with and makes his into the end zone touchdown Game Boy we've got offenses just flat getting it done I wonder how the defenses are going to counter all of this fire power they are too re they're wondering how they're going to counter this offense as you see the explosion so hard so much speed and such effort like that offense is just they got the upper hand lining up for the pat bangs it through for an extra point they March 79 yards on the drive and finish to deal with the short touchdown run from the two all tied up and just about set to kick it away and he takes this from inside the five not a lot of space to be found good Hustle by the coverage team and they stop him at the 21 Coastal Carolina takes over and here comes the offense grab behind the line it's Coleman well we knew coming into this game this offense was going to try and get this receiver involved and get him involved early so here they are just finding an easy completion it's not a touchdown but they just want to get this guy lathered up and get him into a r set up for second and short after that completion dropping back it's Basco throws to the wide out oh so close to paying off the tip drill he had it in his hands but it falls incomplete defense were always trying to get some tips you know break on the football get a tip get it up in the air nice job by the player breaking up the football and forc the inom went up top on second down that leaves him needing a yard here on third down trying to pick it up on the ground and he'll move his way forward to the first down they'll mark it at the 35 it's a nice run there to get the first down I got to tell you I'm impressed with the stable of backs and the weapons this offense has a lot of different guys can touch the football in a variety of ways but they've been running it very very well in this game so far and the shot to clear will have it and 10 they're getting this guy lathered up that's what you expect from a senior don't give them any extra yards great tackle there all right well the offense here they're trying to get this run game established they obviously don't break off a long run there but they're just trying to find their footing at this point second down here and maybe they've got time to get one more snap off before the two-minute warning the clock has stopped and we reached two-minute warning before halftime and now on second down for this [Applause] offense he's looking to throw oh he's going to try to hit him deep fires into traffic picked off God room on the return and after the interception he brings it back and gets it inside the 35 most def are lucky if you have one good covering Corner fewer are lucky if you have two they've got three DBS three corners that can play at the same time in their nickel package that they feel can go mono imano with anyone in the country and you saw it on that last play coming away with [Music] the Jacksonville State has it back in the gamec will go to work this could be a real turning point in the game they scored a touchdown they got a stop and now a chance to break the tie and the catch and Rod into the end zone touchdown Jacksonville State man I just love the execution by this offense late in the half man you want to take the lead you want to get that momentum on your side and they do it they finish it with the passing game I tell you what eat that passing game up you can keep this lead keep the momentum and keep putting up numbers he'll try to tack on one more and the extra point splits the upright there up 3528 that drive not too taxing on the Playbook One play put it in the end zone just like that about to kick it off after punching it in for the touchdown he'll bring it back from inside his SP really disciplined job by the coverage unit to get down there and make the stop at the 19 Coastal Carolina has it the Shanta cleer offense headed back to the field complete to the left and the defense makes the immediate tackle but he has enough for the first down and you've seen these Co routes this is a timing route understanding the ball's got to come out of my hand right when he hits the of that curl nice job by the QB finding him nice catch the shot that clears moving quickly to the [Applause] line to the air it's Vasco he's going to fire deep he's got it downfield for a huge game and they get him down at the 43 but this is a kind of explosive play you want to build on his offense lines up feeling awfully good after that big play coming out on first down with the play fake quickly complete he works his way inside the 30 down to the 29 and picks up a first down you know we joke that the tight end's always open David but play action almost makes it impossible to keep them covered and yeah because those guys they're such good blockers most of the time they're big and physical and they sell block for a second and then they run open and they find holes in zones or they get good matchups and man those tight ends now noway are nightmares for defenses to try to stop oh he had him right down the middle and he just squirted right through his fingers and they miss an opportunity for a nice play on first down after the quarterback and receiver failed to hook up they'll try it again on second down he's looking to throw got his man quickly and they finally haul him down but not before the good catch and run when we see another catch by this guy this defense is going to need to do a better job of tackling the catch in coverage I know they want to slap the ball away but if you can't do it and force the incompletion you've got to at least make sure you're able to drag him down to the ground as soon as he catches the ball wants to throw on first down fires into the end zone he was open he had it and he dropped it would have been a touchdown instead it's second down wow you usually don't get that wide open In The End Zone if that ball comes in like that that's a play the receiver has just got to be able to make for his team going to work in the Red Zone they can pick up the first down without getting it into the end zone they go to the draw and maybe they want to try somewhere else because there is nothing doing in the middle of this defense a timeout is called as this offense tries to find a way to get more points on the board before the half they'd love to pick up this third down and get fresh set with first and goal on Third and long he's going to have to throw for it he's got it and he'll step out of bounds just short of the goal line almost a touchdown but not in there yet you saw the tight end on a big play there in that last third down why not go back to him again here in the Red Zone with his size and his athleticism he is a matchup nightmare down in this area of the field and this offense will have to feel pretty good about itself and in for the score touchdown Co and I love that this offense stuck to it stuck to the Run game didn't Panic they got down but they answered the Bell right before the half and they got this thing right where they want it now they can tie this football game and hopefully go into the half with a lot of momentum now they'll line up for what they hope is automatic smashes it through for the P they marched 79 yards on the drive and it was closed out by the short yardage touchdown after that latest answer tied things up just about set to kick it away again from inside his own 10 he'll try to help out their field position not a lot of space to be found good Hustle by the coverage team and they stop him at the 21 they'll crank up this drive with the pass and he's down after making the catch but did not reach the line to gain that's the end of the second quarter that means it's time to join Kevin in our halim update guys who's had a better seat there in Jacksonville for an entertaining first half than you these quarterbacks have been spinning that ball so far but just when you think you got to drop five or six into coverage these dual threat QBs can burn you on the ground I think realistically the defense that's able to best contain one of those aspects is going to be the defense that breaks serve and finds a path to Victory and with that let's head back to the guys at JSU Stadium and the Gamecock will kick it off to start the second half on the run from inside his own five nice job executing all of the assignments as they put a stop to that return at the 22 Coastal Carolina takes over and here comes the offense trying to set the tone on the ground in the second half he's dropped behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three and sometimes for the defense it just takes one play right to create some momentum obviously this guy's been eating him up he's got over yards rushing on the day but finally David they get something positive here in the Run game defensively but you kind of know that coming in he's going to get his such a great back and he's had a great day need to put more plays together like that right there quickly complete yeah and you see running backs in today's football they play wide receiver basically for you but you got to find a guy that you can throw it to and you know he's going to catch the ball consistent here they come trying tot third and short from the 28th looking to pass it's Basco the throw to the outside is complete he steps out of bounds but he's got a first down on the play WoW and what a great job by that quarterback finding his open receiver on third down you know guys one of the most telling stats at the end of the game is third down conversion percentage if you're a great third down team it's invaluable to your offens success and that's why teams drill third down so much in practice out of the gun the inside hand off looking for a creef just working and poking and prodding and finding his way up to the 36 well this offense came into the game knowing they wanted to be physical they wanted to establish the line of scrimmage and they're running downhill right at this defense and they're churning out positive yardage early after the productive first down play it's second and six give to the running back got the first down and more and he's brought down after a nice game wow the running back there showing you his skill set as he's able to rip off that one for a first down and the Shanta clears are marching down the [Applause] field on the run it's Bennett they'll wrestling down just short of the first down I don't even think they're going to bring out the change to measure this one and that would be the definition of first down success putting yourself in a good position it's second and inches I can do whatever I want next I can take a shot down the field I can run the football and get a new set of downs like nice first down execution direct snap the shot that clears will move the sticks well the offense knew needed to get that first down so they dial up the running play and they get just enough to keep the drive alive and the shot to clear will snap it on First and 10 from the shotgun the inside give he works his way inside the 30 down to the 29 and picks up a first down and this offense has got it all right it's just been tough this defense is on its heels can't figure it out a bunch of plays in a row now bunch of success this offense is doing what they want to do how they want to do it defense is going to need to do something different to try to mix up this rhym got it in the middle it's Tucker there to make the tackle but the big throw is good enough to give them a first down they might have the defense's head spinning a little bit now hit him with a big run now they hit him with a big pass it's so hard to defend both you know that which coverage do I want to put want to put more people in the Box to stop the run when you've got this kind of balance on offense the defense can't be right and the sophomore just a little too much on that one well this defense knew coming in they were going to see some RPL and they were going to see some quick game a nice job there taking the throw away from the quarterback defense has to beated the offense keeps matriculating and matriculating and matriculating the ball down the field the playaction fake he got it Tak it all the way down to the four after making the grab and there're set up there's not a lot more beautiful in football than the play action and the open tight end yeah because it freezes those linebackers it freezes those safeties because they have to come up for a second and play The Run and then the big tight ends big Targets on the back end can catch the football and make big plays they'll keep it on the ground for first and goal touchdown goal Carolina they take the lead with the six what a day his third rushing touchdown and when you got your college fantasy football team going this guy is racking those points up for you chaing chaing ching lining up to tack one more onto that lead and the extra point is true and they're on top by seven they put it in the end zone with a 12pl scoring drive and they finish it off with the score from the four about to kick it away after scoring the touchdown he'll start the return inside his spot really disciplined job by the coverage unit to get down there and make the stop at the 19 guys we'll see what Jacksonville State can get going on o he's got his man they stop him almost immediately short gain there and still a little ground cover to pick up the first this is a very tough slot receiver to cover if you're a linebacker because of how quick and how Shifty he is you never seem to know which way he's going and he always seems to create an open space for his QB motion by the back forces the defense to adjust got it behind the line it's Paul each down but he went backwards after that completion not the way they had it drawn up and listen if I'm the quarterback I'm trying to dump the ball off to my playmaker and make this a manageable third down get something positive but how about the defense just reacting so fast getting to the running back and getting that sucker on the ground in the open field dropping back it's Turner he makes the grab and they'll finally catch up to him but not before a big chunk of yardage is picked up and on that third and short I don't think he was unhappy to see that zone nope it's a great job by the offense hey see where the holes in the zone are sit down you only need a little bit of yards on this third down get the conversion move the sticks the G from the gun and how about the efficiency on that one it'll bring up second and four you want to talk about making it easy for an offensive coordinator you pick up a bunch of yards on first down make that second down really really manageable that's a great job by the offense the Gamecock headed quickly to the line PS and fires complete and the defense had that one well covered just a short game there he's just winning that match up in the slot every time and when you put him in the slot Reese he's closer to the quarterback it's an easier throw we can run in we can run out and really take advantage of his versatility of the guy that slot position he'll put the tight end in motion they'll try to bully their way for the first third down conversions are huge and they've got one and they're at the 35 well the defense is on their heels right now they're going to have to find a way to stop this guy when he's got aead of steam boy he is hard to bring down and the Gamecocks are moving quickly down the field they'll throw it on first down pulls it in nice pitch and catch there and they'll have enough for the first down hey man this quarterback has had a day with that pass he goes over 300 yd on the day really nice job executing putting up some yards today pretty good day for the young man the game Cox have it with a first and 10 from the Red Zone looking for a space throwing right he got it and he will score touchdown Jacksonville State have a day young fellow I foresee some social media posts in his future not one not two but three receiving touchdowns on the day what a ball game [Music] they'll try to tack one more on their score and they did make the extra point and we have a tie ball game here in the third they put together an 81 yd drive and they close the deal with a 16 yd throw for the touchdown and we're all square as he's set to kick it [Applause] away here he comes from inside his own five not a lot of space to be found good Hustle by the coverage team and they stop him at the 21 Coastal Carolina has it the Shanta cleer offense headed back to the field out of the gun they'll run it inside keeps it moving for a three yd gain to the 24 small gain I know but again the defense knows he's going to run the football he's willing to run the football not just drop back and pass make him on to the Run game you got to do a lot of this after the three- yd pickup they come to the line Second and seven wide receiver now comes in motion touch pass on the rck one step W twep squeeze this junior knows how to get him on the ground well and on these little push passes timing is so important you're trying to snap it right as he's getting a full head of when he gets the ball he's hitting the outside and David it puts the defense in such a difficult spot you immediately have to be rotating when you see that motion so everybody's got to communicate and kind of bump over that's why offenses love to run it just it makes the defense communicate and see if you can just get him out of a spot unloads to the wide out snagged in the middle it's Tucker and he's knocked down immediately but not before he moves the chains there's a reason third down is called the money down what a great find by the quart back great job finding his receiver at the end of the game you look at third down percentages it tells a huge story and it goes a long way and deciding he wins a football game going up top on first down and this sophomore quarterback just put it out there a little too far I love the decision by the quarterback he found the open man just don't love the throw got to be a little bit more accurate make it easier on your target after the now on second [Applause] Down On The Run it's Bennett pass the sticks in still on his feet and he found plenty of Running Room on that one before the defense was finally able to get him down and David how demoralizing does it have to be for a defense when you know they're going to run it everyone in the stadium knows they're going to run it and still you cannot stop it there's nothing more demoralizing as a defensive lineman because it just it ticks you off it gets in your head you you know that guy's going to come off and smack you and you got to do something about it I think the defense maybe time to start committing more guys to stopping that run not worrying about the pass as much yeah I think you're just seeing the experience this guy has right he's so poised that initially he's flushed out of the pocket nothing's open and he doesn't panic he's not throwing it away he's not sliding early he just knows where the defense isn't and he's able to attack that face with his speed get a positive play all kinds of room to throw that one in there that's a right ball defense covering it up and not letting the offense get it back it's a turnover well it's a nice job by him making the catch but guys you got to secure the ball and put it away the play's not over give the defender credit for knocking it loose and the defense jumps on Jacksonville State has it back in the game Cox will go to work how big is this drive scored a touchdown the last time they had it defense gets a stop and now it's up to them in a tie game all right so if you're the offensive coordinator here let's dial it in who are your best matchups and best Playmakers to take advantage of this golden opportunity yeah and I'm interested to see this defense too like the momentum is clearly not in your favor how do you get it back how do you make a big play do you be more aggressive here to try to get the football back to your offense grabbed in the back field it's brown that is exactly what you're looking for when you talk explosive plays the defense finally able to make the stop really good job working through his progression you get it to him quickly and the big tight end has a chance to run a little and a really good job by the QB throwing an accurate throw I I got to hit those guys on the Move On The Run so they can do this they can catch the football get up field and chew up some yards off the play fake on first down wants to throws it in what a nice connection knocked down immediately and they've got it at the 25 just outstanding execution continuing to work his way back through the football yeah and everything about this route looks vertical The Comeback it looks like it's a go I'm thinking speed and then he sets it down QB puts the ball on the money and he makes the play they'll Run play action and that pass picked off taking it the other way just keeps moving and the senior just snatched the ball out of the air and gave it back to his offense that's number two that's a good year for a lot of people what a day having two interceptions already I might try my hand on the other guy this guy is not somebody I want to mess with Coastal Carolina takes over and here comes the offense that fumble in plus territory just ruined that last Drive David yeah and those are frustrating when you got the offense moving a little bit oh he ruins the big Gator with a fumble oh and just like they drew it up put it on the ground fall on top of it still get the first down man did they catch a break the wide receiver you could man trying to fight for extra yards after the catch coughs it up but what do you know bounces right back to him and he says yes please I will take [Applause] that trying to find his man on first down the quick out and he'll make his way out of bounds after the solid pick up well this defense is tried to find ways to disguise their coverage and mix it up to try to confuse the QB it's not working though that last comption he's now got over 300 yd passing and thiss get started from the 33 first and 10 now they'll run the draw he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple man the defense was in there in such a hurry they didn't even let that draw develop got to him so quick you know the draw play has to look like the pass and not look like you're faking a pass and I think there it was pretty evident they were trying to run the after losing a couple on that last play here's second and 12 and he'll step across the sidelines after making a good gain on that one and I love this because you got second and really really long and what's the idea of the offensive get third and management nice job getting a run not only a positive run shoot almost got the first down now you're set up for good success on third down here comes third and short from the four and this offense does not want to send out the field goal unit fires to the wide out can't make the connection on third down thanks to that tough hard noos pass defense and now it's fourth down yeah and third and short they choose not to run throw the football and I think a lot of that has to do they know they're in field goal range they can take the three points on the board and they decide to try out the kicker and he'll need a little distance and to bend it just right a 41 y the left hatch that is no good and here in the third quarter it is still a tie ball [Music] game guys we'll see what Jacksonville State can get going on home boy they had that moving a little bit David but then the mistake just crushed them yeah and those mistakes are going to happen you going to throw the football you're going to throw interceptions but I think I stay aggressive with this offense I get back to what I did on the first part of that drive what made me successful I agree David just turn the page if you're a quarterback right on this drive you did a lot of good things there leading up to that pick forget about it move on play the next play after picking up a couple it's second and eight back to throw it's Turner snags it over the middle stopped him at the 41 but that's a big pick up of 15 and as a quarterback when you're throwing these slant routes against man coverage location is so important you want to put the football in a place that your receiver can catch the ball and continue advancing it so nice job by that QB putting the football right on the face basket of his wide receiver quick strike complete I like the decision by the quarterback here just get the ball out of your hands get it to your playmaker a lot of times he'll dance and make even bigger plays than he did here but it was still a positive game as they get set to snap at time winding down here in the quarter from the gun to G looking for room he is tackled but it'll be a fresh set of downs they fought tooth and nail through three and it is all locked up as we take a look at the [Applause] stats we've swapped sides of the field and we are ready for the Finish as the fourth quarter gets underway to the ground he's got it again not a whole lot of room there three yards maybe second and seven and it's just simple simple first down run showing your physicality setting your offense up in a good spot got three on first down it's second and seven they're trying to slow that Rush down with the draw just a sage stop by this sophomore they love to make this kick Easier by picking up a few on third down it's 56 yards out from here it'll be a draw he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple I think these draw plays are a little bit more predictable when it's third and more manageable as opposed to to Third and long you could tell defense did a great job understanding the situation rushing the quarterback but knowing that run could be an option and they cut it down and the Gamecocks decide to punt it away this will be the second time they've had to kick it away and he can't quite get it down or out of bounds it's into the end zone for a Touchback Coastal Carolina has it the Shanta clear offense headed back to the field they're going to throw it to start the drive they'll run the screen not a whole lot of room there on that screen pass as it just never developed they were able to get the ball to the running back in space but that space just evaporated and a great job by the defense man it's tough to get those guys on the ground they're so used to being having the football as running backs and making plays and being Dynamic so usually one guy not going to get him to the ground you want many guys swarming to the football trying to get that elusive guy on the ground to the 43 yd line and a first down for this offense this tight end is such a weapon because he can line up all over the field that time he starts in the slot he's running the corner route against Zone coverage and he's just got athleticism and wiggle and the ability to separate and make big plays so nice to have a Target like [Applause] that wants to throw on first down off the play fake got his man finally run out of bounds but he has this offense rolling with a first down when you're going to run a comeback route you've got to s you're going deep and that was a great job there by the receiver really making that corner think he was running deep down the field so we got the corner to turn his hips turn his shoulders and then the receiver was able to just pivot around and make it an easy passing catch they'll ride the running back and leave it with him they knock him down inside the 30 at the 29 it's a pick up of six I like this guy as a running back because he could run the tackles and he can also go outside he can really do it all got six on first down now a lot of options on second and [Applause] four off play action throws to the tight end and it'll be incomplete this defense is physical and pass deep well the quarterback knew he wanted to go to his tight end on that play he's a big physical Target but it was the hit on the play that forced the incompletion [Applause] coming to the line looking for that first down on Third and short from the 29 using his legs it's Bennett he'll come through on third down as he's got enough and they'll mark it at the 23 well I know this is an offensive line that has a ton of Pride and they want to come out each and every game and really impose their will on the D line they got just enough push there on that play to pick up the first the shot that clears will line it up on First and [Applause] 10 they'll ride the hot hand he's dropped behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three you see all this movement in football now all the s in the defensive line they're sliding right before the snap creating confusion for the offensive line then they're moving back and stunting really good job by the defense continue to move continue to stunt continue to get in the back field and this life hard on this running looking to throw it's Basco got his man they'll finally put the braks on him at the three a big throw catch and run on that one and a great job by the QB finding the running back getting the football where he can do some damage after the catch and most importantly get the first down and this offense is so close they can almost taste taking a fourth quarter lead but they don't want the lead too much time touchdown shot to clear and that one will give him the lead this guy is officially a problem his second receiving touchdown of the game nice job by the offense dude if I've got a matchup I like continue to pick at it until they stop it P on the field the extra point is good and now in the fourth they're up by a touchdown and an extra point so it's an 80 yd drive and they finish it up with a three yd scoring toss lining up to cover the kick after that touchdown drive on the move from inside is five able to find enough room to get it out across the 25 he's brought down at the 26 Jacksonville State has it back in the Gamecock will go to work and finds his man on the left and just a short safe pass play they pick up a few I love offenses and quarterbacks that are willing to take the easy stuff take those easy throws that are guaranteed to get positive yards yeah I'm going to take big shots down the field too but don't forget it's easier up second and five third and five and it is when we start getting those long yarded situations pushes ahead for a couple they'll mark it at the 33 now on third down for this offense they'll try to pick up the first through the air going to try to pop one on the screen and he never had a chance as soon as he caught it the defense was right there well so much for putting a drive together and getting into plus territory they got it out in the flat but just nothing doing yeah and I get it you don't want to make a mistake in your own territory and maybe give up points or set them up for good field position but that was not open just checking it down to your running back basically in the flats and it went nowhere there was no space just not a good play and good work by the coverage team to knock down the Return Man Coastal Carolina takes over and here comes the offense and they've got a little bit of a cushion here David if they can add to it on this drive it would be nice and it definitely makes a little bit of a difference knowing I'm up by more than a field goal obviously Jesse my mindset switches and I know I can't make mistakes yeah and David I don't think they have to reinvent the wheel on offense here what they've been calling has been working just get back to doing what you're good at looking for a man it's Vasco using the quick game they make the stop but the sweet throwing catches plenty to give him a first down I love an offense that wants to stay aggressive even when you've got the lead late in the game like this right you still try to find your Playmakers and get them the ball in space and that is exactly what this offense is doing now they'll try to cash in this drive first and 10 from the 50 he'll try the left side got enough for the first down and wants more and excellent Vision to find Running Room there and make a really good pick up before the defense put a stop to it and listen if it ain't broke don't fix it I I mean I love teams that commit to the run and when it's successful keep running the rock yeah David I think this offensive line right now they've got a lather going they're really sort of getting in the groove and Flow of this game they're just getting tremendous push at the point of attack it seems like every single time they decide to run the ball and he'll run across the sidelines after the good gain they've got a lead here in the fourth quarter and there's certainly still plenty of football to go but this is where you'd love to control the flow of the game right you want to dictate everything to the defense and you do that by running the football that was a really nice run this offensive line is firing off late looks like they're getting stronger as the game goes on and that is a good sign for the offense and he'll be taken down but he does have enough for the first down and this guy really has been a Workhorse today he's made plays when his offense has needed them the most he's a guy who's reliable they know they can turn around give him the football and he'll go make things work out they're going to need him to finish this game he has to continue playing well after that big run there from the Red Zone it's Bennett they make stop but this running game moves to change as they get the first down when the offense can run the football and you can feature a guy like this that will get more yards in his block that you can really depend on hangs on to the football like it makes offense super easy especially down the stretch when you want to eat that clock and you want to possess the football just nice to have that kind of guy softened him up with the run now to throw and good coverage by the defense just a short gain this quarterback right now is in a Groove and he's doing a nice job in pre- snap he's reading the coverage and he's getting an idea of where he wants to go with the football that's why the ball's coming out of his hands so quickly that's why he seems like he's in a great Rhythm right now he'll run it to the middle looking for the End Zone he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple it's looking like they're going to have to try to throw this one into the end zone here on third down David quarterback's got to be careful can't get greedy cuz you know these windows they close fast extremely tight Windows find your big body guys that you know can win in contested situations here on third down wants to fire It In The End Zone on Third and goal and good hands there by the defense on that shot to the end zone after that incompletion on Third and short it's going to be an interesting decision for the head coach because I know he believes in his guys to go get it here on fourth down and Pad the lead but if you kick a field goal you make it a two-possession game here in the second half and I think that's the right [Applause] decision oh he missed it no good flag on the field and the kicker going to have a little bit shorter distance to work with here can't make contact with a kicker like that a costly special teams penalty you've got to know your path in front of the kicker off comes back on the field he snares it in the end zone touchdown coal and how about the offense they spread them out everybody spread wide easier to read a defense when you do that they find the matchup they want and they get rewarded with the score they'll try to add another to their lead and the extra point is true and they have a two touchdown lead up 14 in the fourth a 69 yd touchdown drive and they CA the drive with a four yd touchdown pass kickoff team has the ball teed up and they're about ready to go and he takes this from inside the five he was hoping for something a little more Dynamic but they get him on the ground at the 20 guys we'll see what Jacksonville State can get going on o trying to start the drive with a pass caught over the middle it's Paul and he almost ran away from everybody that one a huge pick up on that play I think if you're the head coach at this point you're telling your offense doesn't matter what's happened up this point of the game obviously things haven't gone our way but we have a chance to execute in a two-minute situation and give ourselves a chance to win let's go do it one play at a time the Gamecock are in the hurry up back to pass it's Turner gets it to the back at the 40 there he goes and they are pushing the ball down the field a big pick up on that one and the tackle is finally made perfect play call against the Perfect Defense they came with a blitz and the offense had the screen pass called at the right time running back gets it in his hands he's got lineman out in front getting hats on hats you can't do it any better than that he'll do it himself he'll be down at the four yd line after that terrific run yeah and listen this guy's had a good day I know they're trailing and they need to put some Drives together but I also wouldn't abandon him because he's had such a monster day and he's been the bright spot so far for this offense they really got this offense humming just a fourth play of the drive and it's first and goal they'll try to get it in with the Run he steps and powers and works his way they finally get him down at the two see if they can get it done on second and goal he's looking to throw rolling to the right trying to make something happen he works his way ever closer all the way down to the one yd line and I really like the decision by the quarterback there listen it's early in the Downs like Don't Force It don't don't make a turnover he tucks it get what you can get and then Live to play the next down I I like that execution by the QB looking for the touchdown on Third and goal going for six throw to the end zone picked off and after the interception and the turnover this defense has set its offense up for business it doesn't get any better for your defense you know exactly the situation in the fourth quarter everything in your favor don't let him make big plays how about you make a big play nice job getting the interception it's not icing on the cake yet but it's getting pretty close Coastal Carolina has the Shanta CER offense headed back to the field this has been exactly the way you draw things up David the offense has really been moving the football and it's been great execution they've done exactly what they've wanted to do build the lead now Palmer is a different animal now you got to protect it you can tell they were paying attention in practice this week in the film room because they have gone out everybody right now on the same page they'll probably bleed every second possible off this clock before they snap it fast motion from the offense try to get the edge with a quick touch pass got the first down and more and that one looked as if it might go all the way but they picked up more than 40 yard before the touchdown saving tackle and you see so many of these plays now in today's football wide receiver coming in motion and the quarterback catches it just flips it for that's a completed uh you see the big plays where it just lets him get on the edge really really quickly and if he drops the football coming in motion it's just an incomplete pass these plays are getting big plays with really no [Applause] risk we reached a two-minute warning and this offense will be quite content just to drain the rest of the time away on First and 10 from the [Applause] 38 they'll keep it on the ground the clock is on their side able to SC three yards out of that one somehow it's second and seven timeout called there by the defense desperate to get the ball back and save as much time as possible at this point the defense has little choice but to sell out to stop the run on second and seven the offense showing motion from the tight end trying to get a read on the D they'll leave it with him and the Freshman does a great job using his technique and getting the man on the ground defense uses a time out quickly trying to get that ball back and preserve time for their offense let's see what they do on third down looking down field it's Vasco takes a hit as he fires they're working that left side quick timeout called by the defense stopping the clock to save as much time as possible for their offense and the Shanta clear will snap it on First and 10 and they'll take a knee and watch this clock keep on winding winding its way toward a victory for
