all right power Miss we're here with Jason D fourstar defensive line commitment for Missouri uh Jason uh you know you've been committed to Missouri for quite a while just kind of talk about that relationship how that's going with the staff and everything I got you well first firstly what happened uh when it when it break when it came down to all the schools I was thinking about I was thinking about University of Kansas Indiana and also University of Illinois which is my in state school when it came down to all of those it was just like it was like I remember thinking about it for so much and me being real big in my faith like at like there was a time I had a date where I felt like I'm like maybe I want to commit probably some of my guys commit but then I was just thinking I was like I don't know maybe maybe God wants me to figure out where I want to be right now so I remember just thinking and thinking and thinking I was like you know what know what me being big in my faith like let me stop trying to think for myself and let me just trust God so me being big in my faith I was just praying and fasting and just asking the Lord just asking just what's the best situation for me what's the best what's what's the best school and the best environment that I can be in for myself and also being to give his give his to give his name glory and also be there for his will and it just boiled down to the University of Missouri to be honest I um like I remember I remember just being in the in my living room just thinking thinking thinking as I was praying and I was just like I was just like and then it's like God were bringing like these things to me it was like one two my uh two my former two well one of my former coaches and my wrestling coach Emanuel Brooks went to the University of Missouri Orlando goodon who's my former football head coach he went to Missouri who I still have a good relationship with um and then also I had two of my best friends up there Chase Crawford on who's on the track team and of course nigas Nicholas the Lo who's on the football team playing defensive back and I and then just the love they showed me um of course I know many schools also show me love but how they checked up on me if I was going through something if yeah and true like just if I if I had a question they will answer this like that and just trying to and they always told like we never going to like try to ghost you or make you feel like you're not not as big as the other guys we they treated all of us the same they treated our five star mat the same and they treated of course shoot me and shoot other guys the same as well like you know what I mean um they're just they're just phenomenal progam which I'm very excited to be a part of to be honest so to be hon what came down to when it all came crashing down it was just just just figuring out what God wanted for me what what he wanted for me to do for his will yeah there you go sounds good uh talk about who do you talk to the most on their staff oh I talked to uh coach Al of course my my position coach uh coach Al Davis he's uh he kind of reminds me of he he reminds me a lot actually of um my wrestling coach Emanuel Brooks not only as just a coach but also as based like a father/ big brother you know what I mean just I'm come to him about anything I mean like it could be it could be literally anything like for real like I can come to him about a girl saying girl grade school football hey what what are what what should I do here how should I put my hands on this guy here if he watch myl he probably give me a tip or two tell me what drills I can do probably to better myself as a football player and then he just call he always calls and checks up on me hey Jason how you doing Jason just how your family doing how your mom doing and that's not just him a that's all the other staff of course but just how he is and how really he is with me of course don't get me wrong guess it's recruiting coaches aren't probably going to crack down on you now of course but how how he can of course of course yeah butter me up I'll say and then also just be real with me and tell me what I need to work on and what I can get better at that's something I always wanted out of a coach of course it make me feel loved and wanted but also a coach is going to push me to where he thinks I can be and where and where I want to be of course as well because of course I don't want to just finish playing on Saturday Saturdays you know I want to be finally be playing on Sunday mornings and Sunday nights in the National Football League so yeah that's so he's just a phenomenal guy to have as a coach and it's a phenomenal mentor as well yeah what did he say like when he initially started recruiting you and and maybe what he says now about your game what's he like about your skill set what you kind of bring to the table he likes me as a as an interior pass rusher of course three te of course he likes to so I can play all around but I mean I don't and that's what that's my coach's you know decision decision where they want to put me I just want to do what's best to help my team out and to win a National Championship or two or whatever we can do you know so when it when it came down to him talking about my position it was just like um just basically saying I want I can of course he already has some amazing guys like you know that are already there the amazing piece that he has for a defensive line in my opinion I've been looking at it I'm looking at the looking at the uh the stat sheet and I'm also looking at the measurements and also looking at the paper and it's like we probably have the in my opinion we have the best defensive line of the country and yeah people going to say I'm biased of course but when you look at it I mean you got Christian you got jakai you got you got these you got these phenomenal backups as well with Christian Christian Williams who in my opinion is the best defensive attack on college football right now after uh Byron Murphy left and it's just you got all those pieces at at a defensive line it's like and know when I get up there and I was I just want to bust my butt and try to do everything I can to just help this team out pretty much so yeah it's a phenomenal run we got going on that's good we talked about this before I I turned the camera over toy but talk about Missouri's overall recruiting class what are your thoughts on them so basic our recruiting class um apparently not if I'm not mistaken we're the best recruiting class in Missouri History which is which is a blessing to be a part of I'm just excited I'm just very happy that I can be a part of it shoot just be a part of the amazing guys and I mean sh when we were taking our official visits and how we were all cool with each other all chill with each other where like you know some kids might might might be shy but even the kids that are shy like we included them like for like a real good friend of person I have hope is a real good friend of M when we get up there who I'm cool with now denen Hopkins who's also a fourstar defensive end and then you also got guys like Jack Lan who's a phenomenal guy Matt who's a freaking he got the guy's funny I mean Mt that's funny that guy that guy fny he kind of like Eli what I say so yeah say you got and you got Jamar Monroe and like that and how we all I feel like on our official visit yeah I mean you know we're from each other of course of course doing different things but I mean how cool we were with each other I mean that's something I just can't wait to be a part of when we get up there right yeah that's good uh I kind of asked you this too before we got on camera but obviously you're close game day visits I think you're going to take a lot of those right oh yeah I mean my really I really wanted to go to the mer State cuz it's the home opener who doesn't want to go to the home opener but just with school and then of course that's our last practice before our game tomorrow or game on the 30th but besides that I mean besides like Daner obiously one of our home gam I want to make it I want to make it to the Buffalo I want to make it to the one they play Boston College of course the one they play Oklahoma which is probably going to be yeah this thing going to be loud and I can't wait for that one I said but I mean I want to go to Every home game as possible like I I already told Coach like the ones I want to make it and I and I try to tell him like the more that I can if if everything goes well and how my schedule looks of course but I plan on going to a lot of them I cannot lie talk about the you know you kind of mentioned what we talked about what you do good and what coach Al likes about your skill set and everything talk about some guys you like to watch what college and like kind of like like your game after okay so to be honest I feel like every kid says this but me I don't want to make it sly cliche it's Aaron Donald ever since I U ever since I got into football he's been the first he was I remember I actually his rookie I remember just watching I remember turning on my TV and watching the St Louis Rams play in like 2014 when he got drafted and they're like oh this guy's a rookie I'm and that that's when I was just getting into football and me being a little kid I'm like that guy's pretty cool I mean shoot I'm like he's lightskinned you know what me so like like I'm like any any play position that I play at the age of you know 10 or 11 I was like why I kind of want to be like him that's when it just that's when I figured I'm like yeah I probably want to be defensive lineman you know when I get bigger and get older so and a lot of people try to say like I feel like they try to like downplay him his greatness in my opinion if you really look at it from a statistical standpoint like um if I'm not mistaken I forgot what year it was but he was winning more double team pass rushes than the average NFL rusher was winning a single man pass rusher or sing against a single man so it's like when we talk about greatness that guy's just perod dominance and I try to and I remember I remember always seeing interviews guys like yeah I mean I'm in the NFL but I can't do that or I I mean I mean I know I'm good but I can't do that but me personally is like yeah people say that but when it comes to me I want to try to mimic everything he does like every single like every single one of his drills I try to do you know what I mean every single one of things I look at was football I watch his highlights on his film to see how he did it try to break it down try to break down where he put his hand exactly try to break down where he uses like you know speed rush how he knocks his guy off one arm how he sits in his Gap and of course gets getting this other gap and it's just how how it's it's kind of like a poetry watching that guy I mean cuz of course D Line's a real tough and grimy and and ugly position but he makes it look like it's clean and pretty when it's quite quite quite honestly the opposite you know what I mean so when it comes to guys who I watch I I'm watching that guy since I was 10 and i' and I'll be watching his highlights ever until shoot I'm probably done playing football so that's one guy I freaking love watching and I love him as a man as well as a father figure and also as a mentor yeah good uh will mention you are a four-star defensive line but you're also a heavyweight wrestling champion so talk about that as well oh yeah so actually U as you say I was talking to my wrestling coach about few like two days ago about this and um when it come when it came to wrestling um I started my I never wrestled in in Little League or or when I was younger Middle School no I I started my freshman year in high school and I remember my first practice I came to like Oh My My Buddy Nicholas actually missou he was a phenomenal wrestler three sport allate athlete he was like Jason bro come come wrestle make you make you way better athlet better probably even better line I'm I don't know kind of like I was playing basketball at the time probably should really should not have but I was playing basketball and he was like he was like man Jason like you should come you should come to wrestling practice bro you you'll love it bro you know what I'm saying it's fun and all this I'm like I don't know so why I remember I was like you know what try something new out why not I haven't done it in a while let me try it so I remember I remember going to our first practice and I'm like bro what in the heck did I get myself into I was like cuz of course I'm not a quitter I ain't going to quit but as I was going I'm like I'm def in the back but it's all right I mean like at least I'm still going and I remember getting done with it of course with wrest and putting your hands with and it's kind of personal for me like you know and after I was like after just visualizing see putting my hands on one person and taking a man down it's kind of like of course playing defensive line pushing a man against his will you taking a man down against his well and holding him down against his will and that's something I love of course being a man and being dominant but that's something I just love about the sport as well so that that wring um I remember uh so when it came to winning my state championship uh when I started wrestling my freshman year I was 13 and5 and uh I couldn't actually go to Regional sections or any of that because of co co apparently I got apparently got Co I was remember taking so many time I'm not negative and and this and that like somebody else probably swapped up my my stuff and I'm not even sick and they're like probably Ain to ntic I'm like no man me being a for I was like man I was I was so angry I was like man I couldn't even go to rest couldn't wrestle with my buddies you know I still went to go support after T came back and I was not negative so it kind of hurt but then my sophomore year I was 42 and 10 and I placed third and I placed third in Illinois state finals which is a phenomenal jump for me cuz I didn't think I was going to be able to do anything I was just doing this because I loved it and I love my wrestling coach Emanuel he's like once again he's like my big brother I love that guy to death and um and then when I remember came on my junior year and I was like and I and I remember coming in and then actually my sophomore year sorry uh there was rumors apparently going around about me not not wrestling cuz to focus on football really take no really focus on football and so many guys like the singers that were that place first and second uh Isaiah and Cole Ed you got second and uh some of the other seniors there cuz I was only soft I was um only underclassman on that Podium everybody else was seniors and I remember they're like bro what freaking me you're not going to wrestle bro you better get back up here you better win this and I was like and I was like yeah I mean of course I I mean I like I might but I don't know guys I really love football and they was like you got to I was like all right and then of course and then just but it's not even just that it's just what EJ how much he's taught me as not only just being a wrestler and an athlete but also being a young man in and in general like I said I can talk to him about anything that's just a guy who I love dearly like I love that guy so much and I remember and of course my junior coming up I remember when I came in as number one ranked guy and I'm like what the heck I'm like I just joined this sport two years ago how the heck am I already the number one ranked guy and I mean I wasn't even nervous and I and cuz usually I probably get a little nervous but I wasn't even nervous I was like well that's that's sick thing to have with your resume so I'm like why not let me try to go win something you know what I mean so I remember just going through it going through and I finished my junior year with a if I'm not mistaken 32 and2 record with uh state with State bracket on my wall in my house so that's something I'm just very happy I get to gu and I and I can't thank God enough cuz without him I wouldn't be able to do any of it I'm truly blessed with my athletic ability and with my and with my hard work and my work ethic and with the people I had to support me Christ has truly Bess blessed me and I
