actually going to happen out on the field I kind of don't even care at this point one of the things I'm sure we are going to talk about is the first thing I want to talk about you here today and that is the fact that Pete Carroll is returning to USC but not to do that no he is not back as a coach even though I guarantee you he could probably get a better record out of this year's team than Lincoln Riley could as it moves into the Big 10 uh Pete Carroll is going back to USC to be a professor okay a professor of what no idea apparently Pete doesn't even really understand what is going to be going on in his class this year Pete Caroll the professor what are you going to like learn how to chew through an entire pack of gum and four quarters of football you're going to learn how to stay incredibly goodlooking and Youthful even as you get into your what is he in his 70s now Pete Carroll looks like a teenager still maybe it's that M Valley Water that he grew up drinking I don't know but he is a Bay Area guy who has done such big things in football I got to tell you I would be fascinated with Pete Carroll's college class I was in Bob Knight's college class the coaching of basketball it was fascinating and one of the last things that Bob actually talked about in the class was basketball he talked a lot more about life stuff life advice from Pete Carroll I mean sign me up right I would go to the Pete Carol is telling everyone how to live a better life like how did that guy guy stays so youthful how does he have all that energy is it avocados like what's he doing what what what is the secret no canola oils only sesame seed oil what is what are you doing Pete Carol is it Hubba Bubba is there some sort of you know Fountain of Youth property to the right pack of Dentin that I don't know about Pete Carroll according to a story here by Brady Henderson on ESPN he isn't returning to coaching but he is returning to USC to teach the former Seahawk and Trojan coach told 923 KJR down in LA or no excuse me that's up in Seattle right KJR yeah I think it is uh he's going to start teaching a class at USC in the spring although he didn't offer any specifics beyond that he says I'm looking forward to it it's going to be really exciting Endeavor whenever it's finalized and all that it sounds like we got to finalize the curriculum does Pete have any idea that he's gonna be like expected to convey more than just stories like a little knowledge is going to be have to be thrown out there at some point here did either of you did either of you did any of you listen to the Pete Carroll Steve Kerr podcast that they did together for a little while they did like a handful of podcasts together about four or five podcasts and it was really interesting to hear two coaches going back and forth talking to each other about strategy about how they they maintain their locker rooms their roster and although there are a lot of differences between the NFL and the NBA there's also you know just as many similarities in through lines in any coach's advice as they're giving it to other coaches the Pete Carroll USC class what the hell is that g to look like what's he gonna do doesn't even sound like he's figured it out maybe it's going to be a a lesson on how to be like Pete Carroll Carol is only nominal uh he been an adviser to the Seahawks uh he's going to be advising for some other clubs apparently um he uh you know he kind of koi didn't really tell anybody but this man he's 72 years old 72 years old he says what I've been coaching for like 40 nearly 50 years I'm probably done with that I want to enjoy myself Pete Carol the professor i i i gu I would sign up for that class that's at the very least I don't know how valuable it'll be but interesting there's no doubt about it absolutely going to be an interesting class uh this will hopefully be a short and interesting show for you here today look I don't want to go down the 49er Brandon iuk where the hell are you path but you know there's stories that are saying that the Steelers are offering 27 million and the 49ers are offering 27 million and I've seen that Adam shefer is saying that you know a deal is eminent here they're just hammering out Minor Details my question would be what what minor detail has yet to be addressed on The NeverEnding contract negotiation that has been going on for months now how could there be a single thing still to be put on the table of oh and this needs to be addressed before this guy signs anything it's getting a little nuts but which really I think getting more nuts is as we I was talking about this with Krueger earlier on wake up we don't know what Brandon auk's value is to the 49ers I mean we know he's their best wide receiver but how do they really value him obviously this is something that they're struggling with how does the rest of the league value him where does he hit in the hierarchy of all professional wide receivers is he top five guy top 10 guy top 15 guy top 12 guy top eight guy who you know you could you could debate yourself to your blue in the face about where he stands and where he ranks one guy you can't do that with is Trent Williams and Trent Williams doesn't have any sort of you know acrimony going on with coaching or how he's been coached or since coming to the 49ers it's been all pretty much you know roses compared to his time in DC he seems to be very happy he seems to be very successful and there's no debating on who who he is in this league he is nothing short of one of the three best offensive linemen playing the sport of football and he might be this League's best tackle which would make him this League's best offensive lineman and there you go that's kind of who he is now we also know as a veteran he doesn't need you know an awful lot of tune-up time but as an aging veteran I think he does need some tuneup time there are 19 days before this season begins and as you keep [ __ ] around and it seems to be nothing but [ __ ] around forever with Brandon iuk where's Trent Williams and they can say you know hey there's a wink and a smile that he doesn't have to come to training camp doesn't have to get out there and practice very much a slow ramp up and uh and you know an entree into the new season even if all that's agreed to he could still have this contract deal done by now it could still be sign the deal get him in get him around the team what are you doing well he wants a little time off he doesn't need all those preseason reps great sit over there sit on a tree stump but you're here that's what matters I mean the ners are taking these negotiations as deep into the 11th Hour as they could possibly go it's absurd it really is it's absurd I'd like less absurdity more football players reporting for Duty here in this final week of preseason tuneup it's a Raider game on Friday and oh by the way if you want to see JT the brick he's goingon to be popping on with Krueger and he'll come back with me he's like I really don't have much to say about a pre-season game I don't really care Damon so let's you and I talk closer to the regular season I'm like fine let's do that so JT will be joining us closer the regular season I got a lot of feelers out for good guests in the coming days weeks so we should be having quite a bit for you here not today though necessarily like I said I have to go to the world's least appealing Major League Baseball game it's just waiting for me out there I do have a little sad news to pass along that is the passing of Al adles Al adles Warrior Legend has passed away he had been in Hospice Care let me tell you if you've ever been around Hospice Care those people who work in hospice are angels just Angels walking Among Us on Earth Al adles passed away the age of 87 he had been in Hospice Care surrounded by family and um very sad what a gentleman what a true guardian of the game what a there is there is with all due respect to Steph Curry there is probably no more Golden State Warrior than Al adles was a Golden State Warrior he was a tremendous Hall of Fame Fame player he was this team's coach he I believe according to stories that I've read is the single longest tenured employee anyone franchise has ever had Al adles has been employed in one way or another with the Golden State Warriors for 60 years he's been with them for parts of six decades as player as coach as consultant as whatever they needed Al adles to be Al adles was that for the Golden State Warriors he was a beautiful man um and he will be missed as I again I said with Larry Al adles dying means there's going to be a patch on the Warriors Jersey this year Al adles is a patch death there will be a patch commemorating him I'm sure on the Warriors jersey all season long his fingerprints were all over every single element of that franchise baritone voice total gentleman respect to his family his son Al adles Jr who I've been Facebook friends with for years he was a longtime listener of my warrior shows and postgame shows and Steve cerr interviews and um The Warriors lost a gargantuan a Titan figure in their organization so rest in peace Al adles um let's see I told you that we would be ending shows with today in history and today again I got to get to the yard got to meet some friends at a bar before I get to the hard I I get it's hard to walk away but he should have retired um born on this day unfortunately we lose Al adles on this day born on this day Usain Bolt uh Kenny Rogers was born on this day he's no longer with us Wilt Chamberlain was born on this day probably the first day he ever had sex so congratulations to that day and to whoever was uh having sex with a 2-hour old Will Chamberlain he he's probably ready um also here you go the biggest news that I can give you America wise uh in 1959 on August 21st Hawaii became our 50th state so Hawaii still the new kid um welcome Hawaii I'm so sorry that we've uh you know taken your beautiful pristine place and commercialized it and and and Americanized it and you put up in McDonald's just to serve what spam wasubi through the drive-thru Hawaii
