We Begin tonight in Fort eie where officials are assessing the damage from one and possibly two tornadoes that touched down today the suspected twister or Twisters left behind a line of damaged trees and buildings that ran through and around the Ford area area this afternoon Al Sweeney is in for eie tonight for us and joins us live with the details Al Matt the good news here that are is that there are no reports of injuries but the damage is extensive now the Twisters started off north of here in a community called Stevensville and wound up here in uh Fort area itself causing damage all along the way damaging roofs uh Windows buildings and knocking down trees now one of the worst examples of damage is here in Fort Erie at the RONA store where we are where the suspected twister lifted off the roof of the store and dumped it into a neighbor's backyard the Twister or Twisters hit just afternoon they carved out a line of damage from Stevensville into Fort area itself damaging buildings along the way uh knocking out windows of schools and other buildings and uh tearing down trees now one of the worst examples is here at the RONA store where next door neighbor Liz Ren describes what what happened my daughter and I went out to take the umbrella down out of the patio table and it was wind like I've never seen before and we get a lot of Storms and then she screamed oh my God it's coming and I didn't know what was coming and I turned around with the umbrella in my hand and literally the whole Rona roof was up in the air trusses and all like just like wizard of O and it was so loud it's a well it's a metal roof so it was super loud uh I don't know if I was in the Tor like I don't know if I was in a tornado or what so Environment Canada told us today that it was probably a twister or Twisters that landed here today that still has to be confirmed by an investigation again no reports of injuries and we'll have much more in this story later in the newscast we more now on our top story one and maybe even two suspected tornadoes touching down today in Fort eie Al Sweeney joining us again from that City live with the details Al Matt the suspected tornado or tornadoes were first spotted here just afternoon no injuries reported but they left behind an extensive line of damage from the community of Stevensville into Fort Erie before they went out over the lake toward Buffalo now the local fire chief tells us there may have been two Twisters Environment Canada says at least one of them probably was a tornado but that has to be confirmed by investigators now buildings were damaged holes were punched in roofs you can see that along the roads here windows were punched out and trees were ripped up in an extensive area and people were badly shaken and at least one of the Twisters flipped over a travel trailer brother was coming up the street he said he could see a tunnel or a a funnel coming and said we should probably get out of the way and um we got in our car and we tried to speed away and all of a sudden there was debris flying everywhere and the trailer flipped over landed over there you hear about people on TV and they're always saying it sounds like fight freight train and yeah that's precisely what it sounded like cuz I was at the window I'm going what is that coming down the road what is it it was crazy 3 minutes of loud and that was about it I noticed well I thought it was a train like I said right but no whistle and then it just started winding and snap snap his shed over there moved and I heard a bunch of trees going down on Coral too so there are going to be investigators here tomorrow to try to start determining whether these were in fact tornadoes the good news out of this again no injuries reported Matt
