the Steel City might be most associated with this legendary NFL franchise but people here in Pittsburgh know that the ties to the Panthers Run Deep glad to have you with us here at aure Stadium home to the Pittsburgh Panthers we've got a terrific match up for you today rich in pageantry and tradition and it ought to be a fantastic clash as we'll see a squad from the back the Kent State golden flashes taking on a team from the ACC the Pittsburgh Panthers for EA Sports college football I'm ree Davis joined here in the booth as always by David poock and Jesse Palmer guys let's tee this one up B lined up for the opening kickoff looking for an alley from inside his own 10 and he'll be brought down after a solid effort on that return K over so the Kent State golden flashes offense will have the first possession of the game and here he is let me tell you about this wide receiver he is a route running DB toasting pass catching touchdown scoring son of a gun I can't wait to see how this defense is going to try and coral this guy because you play manto man you risk him running right by you and catching the Deep Ball but you play zone and you give them the opportunity to potentially make yards after the catch you're going to have to be really careful trying to cover that P and the golden flashes want to pick up the tempo the sh hands it's brown stopped after making the catch early in the game as a DB I'm settling it it's okay if I give up four six seven yards I'm just trying to get settled in gauge the speed and then later on I can adjust to the speed of the game third and six and they'll need a big play here on this opening drive dropping back it's ulatowski and that pass is intercepted takes it the other way touchdown Panthers the defense put six on the board with a big time interception return You always want to come out and set the tone as a defense get a stop make a pun how about this get the int and take it back to the house way to set the tone for this defense [Applause] [Music] over ready to try the point after for the extra point and he's got the extra point and it's s nothing to start this [Applause] [Music] one they'll kick it off and send that defense right back out there to try to score again after the pick six from inside the 10 here he comes able to find enough room to get it out across the 25 he's brought down at the 26 guys let see how it goes this time for the Kent State offense they'll go to Garcia they make the stop but this running game moves to change as they get the first down well with the weapons this offense has you knew it was just a matter of time in the Run game before someone was going to break a long one they just been running into a wall they just couldn't seem to find their creases and get enough movement up front but they finally got it there picking up the first let's see what happens next [Applause] the RPO fire complete to the left and the defense coming with bad intentions they knock him down for a boss well that receiver's looking at his teammates like guys what's up you're not going to block for me on the screen seriously I just lost yards on a screen play how does that happen lost one on that last one it's second and [Applause] 11 from the shotgun the hand off to the b a strong tackle and wrap up from the junior all right well the offense here they're trying to get this run game established they obviously don't break off a long run there but they're just trying to find their footing at this point the golden flashes want to crank the tempo on third down going up top he tries to take the top off and this is dropped incomplete pass he had a huge gain in his fingers and he couldn't hold on this is a point where you just got to be able to focus and the critical down and distances in this game like that third down right there when it's a good throw you got to make the catch youve got to be able to make that play and the golden flashes will call on their punt team looks as if they might have a little something going on that drive but they'll have to kick it everybody stays in their Lanes well enough and they stop him at the 31 yd line the Panthers offense has the ball for the first time as we take a look at our impact players for this one what are you looking for Jesse for a guy to make an impact well these are simply put the leaders of this football team and generally games go how these guys play if they make plays they've got a shot to win this one no doubt they got to show up these are the team leaders these guys have to play well if they're going to win the football game well it's plays like that that will help this offense stay in Rhythm all game long if you can have that kind of success on first down running the football it just opens up your entire Playbook moving forward six- yd pickup on first down leaves him with second and four he'll keep it himself tackle is made but not until he gets the first down such an advantage when you have an athletic quarterback today in college football because they can help you move the sticks with their legs great open field running ability by this QB this offense will snap it from the 42 on First and 10 they'll go to the counter play nowhere to run on that one he loses four on the carry well the offense is trying to go counter but the defense blows it up and they do it by getting penetration up the middle setting up the tackle for loss second down coming up hand off from the gun and they'll stop him after a minimal pickup the big defensive tackles in the middle they're not always the best pass rushers but they are strong and I say Country Strong they put their hands on you you feel it they lock people out on the line of scrimmage they create separation they wrap running backs up and usually they don't get out of the midst of those big boys looking to throw throw it's yell going for the big play and that one's incomplete they weren't just trying to move the chain they were trying to move the scoreboard instead it's fourth down he had him open there and I know this quarterback expects to make that throw it's a tough throw because again you got a couple steps on a guy that's not wide open these DBS are so fast but that is a throw that you do expect a guy like that that caliber to be able to play a little pitch and catch and make that happen really good job by the coverage team to make the Stop and that's where they'll put it in play guys let's see how it goes this time for the Kent State offense they'll throw it on first down and the heat gets there and they get him down at the 14 yd line and those outside linebackers nowadays they're so fast they got to cover ground you can Blitz them off the edge and they can get after quarterbacks versatile that's why they're getting drafted so high in the NFL and getting paid all all that [Music] money they'll try to find a more productive play this time on second and long from the 14 out of the gun the running back has it not a lot of room there give him a couple to the 16 you know runs like this often times are like a boxer in a boxing match obviously it's not a knockout punch but these are body blows and as the game goes on these small gains are going to turn into long runs this defense has kept them backed up now one more stop and they can get off the field on Third and long fires to the wide out all kinds of room to throw that one in there the express way is wide open TouchDown golden fashion and once he got away from the knee they had no shot at catching him did not take long to get into the end zone now let's see if this gets this offense the hit over drive and we may have a situation here we might have points more points and more points you keep putting Drives together like that that quickly tune up that much yardage defenses are going to have to get something figur it [Music] [Applause] out they'll try to attack one more on their score [Applause] right down the middle quick strike offense on that replay scoring drive and the Capper was a bolt of lightning a touchdown pass from 84 yds out all tied up and just about set to kick it away from inside his own 10 let's see what he gets ni he's just enough space face across the 25 let's mark it at the 27 yd line he's looking to throw it snagged in the middle it's Reynolds that's about as close as you can get to that marker and it will be second and just a few breaths away from the first down and if you had any questions about this quarterback's arm Talent now you've got your answer wow offense gets set for second down [Applause] looking for space it's Hammond tackle is made after the first down all right nothing flashy there he just did what it took to get the first [Music] [Applause] down they'll snap it from the 39 first and 10 might as well run him until they stop him he's got it again and he's able to bounce off one tackle for a solid pickup running backs Square their shoulders up it's when they have the most power you see him Square his shoulders up break tackles be strong continue to plow his way forward just making it really easy on everybody in this offense by breaking tackles the big pickup on first down leaves them with second and one leaves it with the back still running up the 40 he got a bunch and look close to getting a lot more but he's got the first down defense is going to have their hands full try to get this guy in the ground and he's got some serious moves once he has the ball in his hands and the Panthers in the hurry up they'll give it to the back running with power really nice stop there from this senior leader and a nice second effort by the back to break a tackle but how about those defensive backs willing to come up stick their face in the fan and make a tackle those are the best run defenses too right it's not just D linman and linebackers getting all the plays but it's DBS that are willing to not just cover but tackle backs in the open field looking for a man it's yell and it's an incomplete pass over the middle in bring up third down they couldn't connect on second down now staring at a third and nine from the gun wants to pass that's caught it's Hammond and they wrap him up but not before he gets enough on the catch for the first down he nice job by the QB it's third down it's money down I'm looking to throw the ball down the field what what what what's open my running back find him hit him let him do the rest good job pit coming to the line after getting another first down motion by the back forces the defense to adjust got it in the middle it's Reynolds defense is there to make the stop but he's got the first down and they'll have it first and going with the six and a really good job by the quarterback being very decisive he saw his matchup he went for it he attacked it got the positive gain I would say he's going to find that guy a few more times today Pittsburgh will come to the line with a first and goal he'll try to get it in with the Run he'll be brought down at the 5 yd line and this defense is on its heels down second Ang go [Music] hiess coming out on the goal line looking for a path to the end zone to the right and he takes it in for the score touchdown pit timely decisions effective play management helps him get in the end zone after that marathon drive and every time the offense needed a play Boom they got it I mean you think about it whether it's was a small run small pass whatever they needed they got it done and they popped it in for the [Music] [Applause] sco on to attempt the tryck on for the extra [Applause] point and the pat giv him a 14-7 lead they put together a 74 yd touchdown drive and they punctuated it with a 5yd touchdown run the kickoff team out there and ready to [Applause] gock from inside his own 10 he'll try to help out their field position couldn't find a way to create that broken field as he stopped at the 25 guys let's see how it goes this time for the Kent State offense tackle with made at the 28 after a pick up of three and the running back didn't get much there nice job by the defense you can tell they're focused in on this running back on this run game being physical getting knockbacks and limiting his carries the golden flashes are in the hurry [Applause] up the give out of the gun and he was fortunate not to lose yardage on that that play able to wedge it back to the line of scrimmage you got to have that defense you know you can go to in running situations your base defense where you say okay this is where I'm going to start and I'm going to stop the run stuff it up front my guys play Big up front then if I need to add some blitzes to it later on down the road I can but great job in the base defense making a play throws for the tight end caught over the middle it's Harrison oh there were a few steps there he was thinking touchdown but they f finally get him down after the big pick up at the 25 nice play design on that one you make it easy for your quarterback too because it's easy to see what's happening right in front of you over the middle of the field you can see where Defenders are dropping you can see where the soft spots are in zone coverage and just a really nice job by the QB locating his guy making an accurate [Applause] throw from the shotgun now here's an inside G it's a fumble on the play oh looks like the offense was able to recover it I don't know if it was luck or aggression or just a fortuitous balance but at least they've got the ball back but one thing I do know reys this running back has got to do a better job with ball security you cannot turn the football over and expect to win this game they're very lucky they were able to jump on top of that [Applause] one quarterback on the keeper got enough for the first down and they'll finally get him down after a terrific pickup you know you don't need to be an absolute Blazer to have success running the football as a QB just need to know where to pick your spots finding holes reading blocks falling forward this quarterback does all that and the golden flashes look to keep this drive humming back to throw it's owski he got it and he will score touchdown Kent State a methodical drive that they finish off by tossing it to the tight end and the tight end I tell you what this is a position that's evolve so much right and you see him move all over the field it's kind of like Where is Waldo you got to find this big fella especially down in the Red Zone area this is the guy they're going to Target and make the big play get the touchdown [Music] [Applause] P unit on the field [Applause] ex and it's up and good so that was a six play 75 yd drive and they finish things off with an 8- yd toss for the score and we're all square as he's set to kick it away kick away from inside the 10 yd line he'll bring it back couldn't find a way to create that broken field as he stopped at the 25 the pit offense back on the field in ready to roll these two defenses have had their head spinning here in the first half and now we might even see a little more scoring with this drive it's going went back and forth this is like two heavyweights just trading blows David what does this defense got to do to get a stop here I tell you what man when you're giving up points like this and you've got no momentum you got to find somebody that can make a play to create some and listen if you're if they're scoring anyways let's be aggressive let's Blitz more let's let's make sure we're making them feel discomfort in some way shape or form smashes through and Midfield he's got room and he breaks into the open in inside the tag and he's sprinting he'll take it all the way touchdown Pittsburgh I love the execution on that play great blocking up front just to get the ball carrier opportunity in the second level of the defense and then at that point it was make a guy Miss and use the speed that was a perfectly executed play [Music] [Applause] [Applause] lining up to tack one more onto that lead exra [Applause] point and he did get that extra point through the slippery surface no problem they Wast did no time on that drive got it on their 25 and two plays later they're in the end zone almost ready to kick it away after scoring the touchdown kick one here's the return from inside is 10 he was looking for more Running Room but none to be found as he stopped at the 23 guys let's see how it goes this time for the Kent State offense they'll run it out of the shotgun picks his way and gets four four out to the 27 that's a really nice play it's impressive when it's first down the defense thinks you might be running the football you still can line up you can get some movement at the point of attack and find a little p for your running back the golden flashes racing to the line in the hurry [Applause] up they'll keep it on the ground at the 40 there he goes and a rip really nice run and pick up there before the defense avoided disaster and stopped the really big play it's so nice as an offense to know you can generate explosive plays by handing the football off to this guy he has got incredible speed the offense getting set for a first down from the [Applause] 45 pre- snap Motion in the back field he wants to throw caught in the back field it's Garcia and he'll step across the sidelines after making a good gain on that one you can hand it to him you can throw it to him either way he's making his presence felt those are your favorite plays re the him plays right finding ways to get him the ball because he can make plays whether it's running or receiving out of the back field they're going to continue to highlight this guy the give is to Garcia and the golden flashes pick up the first down this is a guy that can find you the hidden yardage that play he just pushes the pile to get that first [Applause] in the golden flashes have their offense in high [Applause] gear from the gun running back gets to G and he has a solid gain before the defense bottles him up offensive lineman love to run the why you run power you run power then you can play action you don't want that defense to be sitting there saying it's a pass it's a pass having to pass block every play you got to keep defenses offb here comes the offense on second [Applause] down how about these two running games so far dominance on the ground as we look at the first quarter stats and they've swapped into the field and we'll get it going in the [Music] second and he dropped it it looked for all the world like that would be a catch and he just got too excited well that is one the tight end is going to want to have back he was wide open on that play that's one he's got to make he's got to be able to make that catch couldn't find his man last time and that leaves him with a third and [Music] six to the air it's owski using his legs keeping his eyes down field he gets the job done picking up the first down then getting down nice job nice way to end that play for the QB he does a really good job scrambling getting the first down and getting down because defensively I'm trying to get a lick anytime I can hit the quarterback that is a win and the golden flash it's moving quickly to the line want to throw on first down quickly complete smashes through he is right out of bounds after the big gate and they are in business first and goal will we see another catch by this guy this defense is going to need to do a better job of tackling the catch in coverage I know they want to slap the ball away but if you can't do it and force the incompletion you've got to at least make sure you're able to drag him down to the ground as soon as he catches the [Applause] ball they want to throw it he makes it grab hard hitting tackle and quarterback receiver on the same page nice job seeing the Zone understanding the drag route concept easy pitch easy catch a very productive play on first down has now set us up with this second and [Applause] goal he'll do it himself and he'll step into the end zone touchdown golden flashes Bo we've got offenses just flat getting it done I wonder how the defenses are going to counter all of this fire power they are too they're wondering how they're going to counter this offenses you've seen the explosion it's so hard so much speed and such effort like that offense is just they got the upper [Music] hand getting set for the point after exra point [Applause] right down the boulevard so it's a 77 yd touchdown drive and they Clos the deal pushing their way inches into the End Zone after that latest answer tied things up just about set to kick it away again he'll bring it out from inside his own 10 nice job executing all of the assignments as they put a stop to that return at the 22 the Pittsburgh offense is back on the field he leaves it with his back building momentum picking up a chunk of yardage moving the chains out to the 34 I know this is an offensive line that has a ton of Pride they want to come out each and every game and really impose their will on the dline they got just enough push there on that run play to pick up the first they've got a first and 10 at the 34 they're getting this guy lathered up finding a way to put that foot in the ground and get it up to the 37 yd line well this offense came into the game knowing they wanted to be physical they wanted to establish the line of scrimmage and they're running downhill right at this defense and they're churning out positive yardage early solid pick up of four on first down it's second and six from the shotgun the inside K he showed it all there a little elusiveness a little power and he's got the first down and running backs are so good so talented so elusive you see nowadays they really have the ability to make you miss run you over unbelievable effort nice job you keep that going you're going to be hard to stop Pittsburgh going to work with a fresh set of downs here on this the give to the tail back and a nice run there before the defense finally makes the stop yeah another good run I feel like we can put that on loot Jess just another good run another good run another good run over 150 yards on the day he's been the complete package showing off all his skills today after the nyd pickup on first down here's second and one from the gun the G looking for RO just making a play getting it to the 23 yd line it'll be first down that is got to be demoralizing if you're on defense because they just ran the ball right up the middle down your throats and they gashed you this drive has been exclusively on the ground could they be setting up a shot [Applause] play he'll pull it on the read and the ball's out and they're after it and the defense jumps on it and they get that turnover you know often times when you're playing in conditions like this and it's raining you'll see a lot of the skill players offensively take off the gloves because they want to be able to feel the football they think it gives them better control control of it I don't know if that played into the football going on the ground there but you know that ball security is going to be one of the biggest factors in this game moving forward guys let's see how it goes this time for the Kent State offense this could be a real turning point in the game they scored a touchdown they got a stop and now a chance to break the tie yeah this offense has got it cooking man and how about the defense great job getting that stop getting the football right back to the hot hand now this offense Palmer has has to take you could see the offense too they understand the situation right now they were jonesing on the sidelines to get another opportunity to run back on the field they are ready to drive this ball and go [Applause] score now they'll run the draw several Defenders there to get him on the ground really nice play call there on second and long by the offensive coordinator he was able to get a lot of that yardage back by running the football and now of course it sets up a third and manageable situation the golden flashes headed quickly to the line back to throw it's ulatowski unloads to the wide out a strike downfield and the explosive play and they're on the move all the way to the 44 the magic bean is spinning out of control already over 200 yards in the first half yeah they're being aggressive offensively throwing the football trying to take advantage of this defense on the back end they've got their quarterback right now in a [Applause] group motion trying to get the defense to show its hand trying to get and he's all bottled up and now it's worse the ball's loose oh look what I found the offense keeps it man this is why you practice Five Points of pressure with the football you cannot put the ball on the ground doesn't matter how many Defenders are around you or how hard you get hit you cannot turn the football over and expect to win [Music] games you want to talk about hards in throats when that ball was on the ground the offense recovered its own Bumble they'll go to Garcia and the Freshman does a great job using his technique and getting the man on the ground I like feing my guy I like getting my running back touches feeding the ball so he can break some of those big runs but I'm also okay with these little ones set the tone stay balanced I'm not positive but that first down marker might be in the next County on Third and long he'll have to turn it loose deep throws to the wide out and the incomplete pass will bring up fourth down it's so nice when you know it's third and long you know a pass is coming you worked on it all week get your feet set at the sticks understand that quarterback's got to be rushed get him off of his spot nice execution by this defense and the golden flashes will try to pin them back with the punt this will be the second time they've had to kick it away Runs Out of Bounds the pit offense back on the field and ready to roll that fumble in plus territory just ruined that last Drive David yeah and those are frustrating when you got the offense moving a little bit and you put that thing on the deck Jesse but move on reload forget about at the end of the day it's just fundamental football right they practice it all week five points of pressure every ball carrier has to have it they just got to do a better job moving forward didn't get much done on that first play of the drive it's second and 11 dropping back it's y now and that pass will be Jarred loose on second down that brings up third down well the quarterback knew he wanted to go to his tight end on that play he's a big physical Target but it was the hit on the play that forced the incompletion you make up the game plan and not a lot on the play sheet for this third and long from inside their own 20 from the gun wants to pass looking to the big tight end got him downfield and the expl iess the big Gainer gets it to the 49 yd line a big gain there as they did a tremendous job working the middle of the field yeah and if you're going to complete that throw Reese quarterbacks got to play with anticipation you've got to get it out of your hands early and give your receiver an opportunity before the defense gets to the ball they'll go to the ground and a decent gain there before the defense makes the Stop and that's the problem with blitzing on defense you live by the blitz you die by the blitz defense dialed up the pressure but the offense had a better play call they ran it away from the Blitz and that's why they were able to be successful halfway there on first down it's second and five he's looking to throw oh he's going to try to hit him deep and it's slipp through his fingers incomplete that would have been a huge gain if he could have squeezed it and the offense clearly saying we want to take those deep shots we want to be aggressive and and I think that's a good strategy because makes the defense really honor what you're going to do and just missed a little bit but I wouldn't be surprised if this offense finds a way to come back to some of those deep bones he makes a catch now they're really starting to threaten as they pick up the first down at the 34 ydd line and had they not picked up that first down it would have been decision time for the head coach right you're kind of in no man's land on the fridge or you trying along long field goal are you going for it on fourth down but because of the execution there and the nice throw let's keep this drive going let's see if we can get six the give on the inside they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one and sometimes for the defense it just takes one play right to create some momentum obviously this guy's been eating him up he's got over 100 yards rushing on the day but finally David they get something positive here in the Run game defensively but you kind of know that coming in he's going to get his such a great back and he's had a great day need to put more plays together like that right [Applause] there they're bringing [Applause] heat that pressure got to him and he just had to Chuck it out of bounds and you cannot blame the big boys up front the hog mes get a lot of the blame a lot of the time but Mr QB had forever to throw the football all day to get rid of it he didn't he took the shot at the end and the offensive lineman's literally in himself to himself going you should have thrown the football back to throw it's yell going to let it fly and they wanted it all on third down but now dealing with fourth nice job by the defense they're mixing up their look they're third and long in field goal range they go Zone cover so everybody on the back end has the eye on the quarterback and they're able to break on the ball Force the incompletion looks as if they'll send out the field goal unit he's going to reach for a long one a 52 yd attempt and the kicker delivers the three to salvage that drive and now they regain the lead well that kid just showed off his hammer for a leg 50 plus and he did it with ease [Music] [Applause] [Music] so after the last Drive ended with a field goal the kickoff team out there to send it away on the move from inside is five he was hoping for something a little more Dynamic that they get him on the ground at the 20 guys let's see how it goes this time for the Kent State offense that last Drive won't go on the Highlight Reel after ending in a punt they'd like to be more productive this time David and I think this offense has to be a little bit more balanced find a little balance between the Run Jesse and working in that pass I think too David it's just going to take a spark it just takes one play to get this thing picked up and going the golden flashes come to the line in the hurry up [Applause] the inside handoff makes the tackle at the 32 but they were backed up inside their 20 and they pick up 15 and a great job by the offensive line if you're going to run the ball right at the middle you better control the line of scrimmage you can see the center the guard the tackles doing a good job getting on their guys just enough where this running back can get into space and make the big game with a first down they'll snap it from the 32 the back goes in motion he's going to pass hit hard as he released the ball on that first down pass and didn't never had a chance well the quarterback was in a world of trouble there he was under pressure he knew he was going to get hit so he was just trying to get rid of it but he forced it into double coverage he's lucky that was only an incompletion after the missfire it's second and 10 [Applause] keeps it on the boot leg outside the pocket lets it Go tremendous awareness along the sideline and the ability to get the foot down for the big pick up listen The Comeback route is one of the more difficult routes to throw in college football you see Zone and they're bailing getting out of there nice job by the receiver sticking his foot in the ground coming back to the quarterback catching the ball nice pitch nice catch [Applause] they go to the ground they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one well the offensive line had everybody blocked except the defensive end he was able to sneak into the back field and get the tackle lost one on that last one it's second and 11 trying to make that think on the draw play here just a solid stop by this sophomore and these defensive tackles just eat people they swallow human beings when you get near them they're so big so strong those guys those running backs coming they just need a m they put one minut on a running back and he usually falls to the ground just because of their sheer mass and [Applause] strength to the air it's owski feeling some heat just tried to drop a little floater in there and it's incomplete quarterbacks talk about it all the time they love the clean pocket where they can step up throw the football that is not what they had nice job by the defense beating the offensive line disrupting the timing and getting a nice clean hit on the quarterback and the golden flashes will line up to PL it away he's going to try to flip the field with this one make sure that there's not going to be a return on this one balls out of bounds and I think they'll mark it right around the [Applause] 25 they'll test the right side they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one and the defense is going to have to have more plays like that he has had a ball game so far running wild all day long defense finally comes up with a stop maybe get a little momentum here over a 100 yards already in this game so if I'm on defense here I'm adding more guys to the Box anticipating that they're going to continue to give this guy touches today on second down he'll let it fly catch in the middle it's mfield they make the stop after the catch and still some work to do to pick up that first down and I love when my quarterback sees Zone and knows exactly where to go with the football sees the wide receiver running the drag route knows when to throw it pulls the trigger for the easy completion passing game very effective on second down what about here on third from the gun wants to pass didn't have anything working and just had to throw it away on third down third down and short they choose to pass it they got the whole Playbook open because it's third and short on their own side of the field you could tell the QB wasn't going to make a mistake he did not want to force the ball make a bad decision he throws the football away lives to fight another down hit will line up to pun it away he'll try to really get into this one might have thought he' to try to pick up a few yards there but he's content with making the fair catch right around the 35 yd line from the gun he leaves it with the back yeah and the running back didn't get much here but you know you clearly want to always establish the tempo run the football be consistent make that defense physically meet the [Applause] challenge the golden flashes want to move quickly [Applause] give to the running back and he doesn't find much Running Room a short gain on the play We reached the two-minute warning and we have ourselves a ball game and they have a chance to take the lead here before the half line is set on third down looking to throw it's owski coming after him and he can't find a receiver and down he goes timeout is called and it's the defense wanting to make sure that everyone's on the same page for this big down and the golden flashes decide to punt it away fourth time tonight we've seen this guy come on to punt he'll take it on the return he's brought down but a really solid effort to pick up every bit of yardage he could on the punt return the Pittsburgh offense is back on the field this has been a spectacular offensive showcase so far David this has been unbelievable he tosses one high and deep down the left side and it goes through his hands oh he had an explosive play right there for the taking but couldn't reel it in Hey listen the quarterback didn't get the completion on that throw but that doesn't mean you can't try again trust in your Playmakers outside to push the field and stretch it vertically and make a play for you it won't surprise me see this QB take more shots as this game goes on going back to the well another deep ball can anyone catch him touchdown Panther and once he found open space the band might as well start playing how about that quarterback taking the shot down field and delivering to the wide open receiver I love this quarterback GRE cuz he's aggressive he wants to take shots he's looking for every opportunity to show off that Cannon and that arm Talent he showed it to all of us right [Music] there he'll try to add another to their lead the kick is up and good and put one more on the lead this offense Prides itself on going after you and they did with that long touchdown pass to finish off a two-play drive kickoff team is on the field they'll try to drive this one deep looking for an alley from inside his own 10 he was hoping for something a little more Dynamic that they get him on the ground at the 20 guys let's see how it goes this time for the Kent State offense to the air on first down getting late here in the first half they'll have a chance to make this a one possession game and the offensive play caller here has to really be dialed in it's important down two possessions Dave that they're able to score some points and you got to call your best stuff in this two-minute situation and and such a good opportunity to cut into a onore game create that momentum get some good juices going for the second half because obviously you know you built yourself a little bit of a deficit you need some good things to happen and it needs to happen on this possessions it in a Timeout is called as this offense tries to find a way to get more points on the board before the half they've got it at the 36 it's a first and [Applause] 10 looking to move it through the air grabbed over the middle it's McCrae and quarterback dropping back understanding I'm getting Zone coverage all I got to do is be a little bit patient manipulate that defense a little bit my wide receiver runs that drag and I get the first down clock's running and they'll try to get to the line warp speed for second down to throw it's ulatowski quarterback just flat missed it incomplete [Applause] [Music] third when you've already set your punter out four times at least he knows he's going to get his varsity letter and his leg might get a bigger work out if they don't convert fires to the big fella and they'll move the chains and get it to the 47 yd line David that is a great security blanket for a quarterback to have a tight end to make those conversions dang right find the big fella on Third and short Dependable clutch nice hands first down clock stops momentarily for the first down they'll hurry to the line they'll throw it on first down fires to the wide out it's caught he's run out of bounds but not before turning in a big pickup and moving the sticks for a first down real smart play great job get the positive yards and then get your booty out of bounds the golden flashes with the first and 10 he's looking to throw it can't hang on and he'll tell you he really should have made that catch and he had an opportunity right in the middle it'll be second down trying to get the receiver on a drag route work him through all the bodies in traffic but there's just too much happening I don't think he saw the throw real well and it falls incomplete and the incompletion brings up a second down for this offense he's looking to throw unloads to the wide out and he just overshot his man and threw it out of bounds incomplete and a nice job by the defense understanding who their go-to guy is that's the guy they want to feature that's the guy they want to feed with good reason he's a great player but a great job by the defense taking away that primary read making sure they don't make a big play they were on the move but two straight incompletions had them staring at third and 10 throws to the wide out they were trying to work the outside and he played that perfectly and almost got the pick really nice third down sub defense there that time it's third and long they're expecting pass and they're mixing up their looks they're trying to change the picture pre-nap to post Snap to confuse the quarterback now forcing the incompletion setting up four and they'll send out the field goal unit never a doubt for this big-footed guy 49y field goal is goodl the kicker defense so they'll decline the penalty pleased with the results of that last play [Applause] so they get the late field goal right before the half and not much time after this kickoff for an answer from inside his own 15 looking for room now he's just enough space to cross the 25 let's mark it at the 27 yd [Music] line looking for a physical attack from the gun they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one L of one play BR up that's going to wrap up the first half here and now we join Kevin with the halftime update thanks guys what a scene there in Pittsburgh What a fine performance we've seen and it' be easy to say these two offenses are glad we've hit halftime based on their respective performances it would also be accurate turnovers and sacks have told the story so far and you got to believe the play calling has been the issue right time to shred those games plans and just get back to basics and with that let's send it back to the guys on the north side of Pittsburgh [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] and the golden flashes will kick it away to start the second half from inside the 10 here he comes he was looking for some Running Room but not much to be found as he stopped at the 18 the pit offense back on the field in ready to roll they'll start the third quarter with the run that keeps the running game churning pick up of five to the 23 it's the emo of this offense and they really put a lot on the offensive line to go out and really try and establish their dominance and their assertiveness and they've done a good job of that early in this game running the football halfway there on first down it's second and five they'll ride the running back and leave it with him Bulls his way forward and he fights his way forward gets away from one but not much doing on that one this running back's had all kind of success now we're getting later in the game we got to make sure we get some stops get the ball back to our offense now on third down for this [Applause] offense it's a draw he's able to fight his way for a couple of yards but it'll be fourth down and three off facing fourth down pit will have to boot this one away form to kick it away Fields the button looking for daylight and you make the Stop and that is exactly what you want out of your un cover unit guys let's see how it goes this time for the Kent State offense wants to throw on first down off the play fake and it falls incomplete and the offense is lucky to have it Fender right there almost haded in his grass DB does an outstanding job here on the Deep pass locating the football no Pi able to swat it away pass incomplete couldn't get anything done on first down now second and 10 from the 46 the give is to Garcia just what they were looking for and he's got him set up in business at the 35 with a first down and that is just an attitude run running it right up the middle right into the teeth of that defense the golden flashes will hustle to the line [Applause] scanning the field it's ulatowski quarterback on the Move still looking on the run and he'll slide to avoid the big hit yeah I think you're just seeing the experience this guy has right he's so poised and initially he's flushed out of the pocket nothing's open and he doesn't panic he's not throwing it away he's not sliding early he just knows where the defense isn't he's able to attack that space with his speed and get a positive play wants to fire on second down grab near the marker it's brown he makes the tackle at the 23 yd line but not before a pick up of five and enough for the first [Applause] down and the golden flashes are flying down the field [Applause] comes out throwing on first down and this sophomore able to wreak some havoc and get the sack the defense coming up big there and the sack is great but the secondary deserves some credit too no doubt when you can cover like that in the secondary and drop back in your Zone and only Rush a few and you feel comfortable getting home and they're going to get to the quarterback that is a great feeling and that's fun to be a defensive coordinator calling the play they'll try to keep that sack from Wrecking this drive here on second and 15 he'll keep it himself got enough for the first and he's still going and he found plenty of Running Room on that one before the defense was finally able to get him [Applause] down the golden flashes have it with a first [Applause] intent quarterback on the keeper and I think they'll give him two on that one second and eight coming up well the QB decided to keep it on that one and listen if you had his athleticism youd want to keep it too almost every time they run these types of option plays but he's just going to have to do do a good job of understanding when to hand it off when to pitch it try to keep this defense on their heels and read his keys he's got a lot of talent just got to make sure he's making the right decisions moving forward they'll run it behind the big guys on the left couldn't quite nudge it in not sure you could get much closer but it'll be first and goal this defense really is on their heels they've been on the field now for a long time on this drive and they're just getting pushed around at the point of attack up front like we saw in that last play and the golden flashes trying to cash it in on first and goal quick pass on the jet motion behind the line of scrimmage he'll lose a yard got to give the defense credit watching film anticipating they knew that this offense had this play in their back pocket they knew about the speed of this wide receiver in different ways they were going to try to get him involved everybody on defense on the same same page playing together I love it he'll do it himself he worked his way ever closer all the way down to the one yd line yeah and it's a nice job on this defense understanding listen that QB is a threat and they're going to run all kinds of options and he's going to run the football they were dialed in and got that second and after getting it right on the edge they'll try to punch it in on third down [Applause] on the ground he is going nowhere stop at the line of scrimmage man if I'm quarterback right now after this long of a drive down this close I'm going for a touchdown here p and I get that but I've worn this defense out man I'm going to go for the touchdown right here and if I miss they got to go the whole length of the field to score a touchdown they'll try to put three on the board as the field goal unit comes on and and it's no good he missed it and they couldn't cut into the lead it's still a seven-point game well everybody in the stadium thought that was an automatic three not so fast bad Miss by the [Music] kicker the Pittsburgh offense is back on the field here's another opportunity Jesse to stretch out this lead after punting last time I think it goes back back of your Playmakers reys I think it's finding the guys that have been working for you earlier on in this game and getting them the football yeah and there's obviously no need to panic I mean think about it you got the lead you got the football you got to be smart with the football make your plays put a good drive together here eight- yd pickup on first down leaves them with second and short from the gun running back on the move that ought to be enough to give pit the first down and I don't care if I get it by two by 20 by 30 by 40 I just I just want to get the first down understanding the situation understanding where the sticks are doesn't have to be sexy but I got to make sure I get to that stick get to the first down Mark it's first and 10 from the 31 used the play fake now to throw but a little time lets it go that's caught it's mfield and the defense had that that one well covered just a short game there my old coach said to never go broke taking a profit take what's there take the positive yards and never [Applause] complain that completion leaves us with second and medium back to pass it's yell looking left it's caught downfield and perhaps a touchdown saving tackle as they gets him down the 37 well how about the offense setting that play up we've seen earlier in the game a couple shorter throws they're just trying to suck those safeties closer to the line of scrimmage anticipating that they would get an opportunity to take a shot they called the perfect play at the perfect time right there Pittsburgh has a really nice drive going a little pre-nap eye candy for the defense he's going to let one fly down the middle and that pass picked off and they'll drag him down after a good return on the interception and the senior just snatched the ball out of the air and gave it back to his offense well we know these are slick conditions today in this game wide receiver just didn't seem to really get a good grasp on the ball when it hit his hands didn't stick right away there's a a bit of a bobble and because of it the defense able to come away with the pick guys let's see how it goes this time for the Kent State offense we talk about settling for points but sometimes when you have to settle for nothing nothing David it can be demoralizing yeah and it can definitely be frustrating and I think it leads you to say maybe I go for it more but Jesse I think this offense just needs to put another drive together and just finish Stronger Yeah and and be a little bit less predictable too especially as they get closer and closer down to the end zone the golden flashes want to pick up the [Applause] tempo on second down he's looking down field fires to the tight end put it right on him sweet play good pick up and they'll move the change with the first down well I know the tight end did some good things after the catch but got to give the quarterback credit too for the location of the throw because he put it out in front of his big man he was able to make the catch and accelerate creating some distance there between him and the defense [Applause] off the play fake on first down to throw looking to the big tight end how about that play to get a hand in there for the incompletion well I know that one fell incomplete but what a day this guy has had throwing in football multiple touchdowns he's done a really nice job with his decision making hasn't thrown any picks which has really helped keep this offense on schedule they'll line up for a second down play looking for a man it's owski right down the middle right through his hand you just have to make that catch and it'll be third down yeah and he looked like he had the opportunity to secure that obviously open over the middle of the field but you know how that works middle of the field your Defenders am I going to get whacked when I hit this thing it makes those guys think a little bit you see more drops over the middle of the field on Third and long trying to have a big completion here just threw that one away to avoid disaster well in the first half this offense was up and down the field it seemed like everything they were dialing up was working and here we are in the third quarter and there's a very rare incompletion on their own end of the field maybe that's the play the defense needs now to spark some momentum and the golden flashes will punt it away on fourth down they've been busy out there to punt for the fifth time today he'll feeli the punt and try to make a big play couldn't get away from that cover team and they've got him down at the 23 the pit offense back on the field and ready to roll boy they had that last Drive moving a little bit David but then the mistake just crushed them and those mistakes are going to happen you're going to throw the football you're going to throw interceptions but I think I stay aggressive with this offense I get back to what I did in the first part of that drive what made me successful I agree David just turn the page if you're a quarterback right on this drive you did a lot of good things there leading up to that pick forget about it move on play the next play he's got it again not much doing there he gets it to the 26 a gain of one they're strong and they're scraw defensive tackles they're strong there's such big jokers in the Middle where they just lock out those offensive linemen and running backs listen they don't have much of a chance when you got that 300 plus pound guy grabbing you around the shoulder pad you tend to go to the ground pretty quick they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one nice play by the defense but now is a time they've got to be more consistent they allowed this running back to go off in that first half and moving forward now they've got to try and take this running back away pit will line up to punt it away he's getting a lot of work fourth time he's punted tonight he will signal for the fair Catch and take it just inside the 35 guys let's see how it goes this time for the Kent State offense they just didn't quite find the Rhythm on that last Drive Jesse they had to punt it I think they got to be more physical DAV I think up front they got to do a better job getting blocks and estat this running and how easy does football become if you're the more physical team if you can threaten the run and then then run play action it opens up the whole offense at your disposal the golden flashes want to crank the tempo looking downfield it's ulatowski getting some heat he's going to take off he's going to be able to pick up a few yards before the slide well great job there by the defense because they weren't able to get him sacked right away but you saw the coverage in the back end nowhere for the quarterback to throw the football didn't get the sack obviously you don't get the negative play but you also don't give up a big one you're feeling pretty good about where you are right now in this drive as they come to the line on Third and short from the 43 I wonder if they already know they'll go for it if they don't make it here looking to throw for it got the big pause on it but couldn't hang on instead it'll be fourth down defense did a great job third and short on the opponent side of the field they're expecting quick throw everybody they dug their heel on the ground they're able to break on the ball Force the incompletion and the golden flash send out the punt unit they're up to a half dozen kicks today [Applause] Fields the punt and tries to find an opening they're able to put a stop to that return right at the 30 yd line the Pittsburgh offense is back on the field they'll have another opportunity to extend this lead after punting last time David and it's important to put that punt behind you it's it's over let it go get back to what you were doing that built this lead Paul yeah and defense obviously they won a few Downs uh that last drive so we got to put them on their heels here maybe mix up a few Personnel groupings and try to show them some pictures they haven't seen yet after the three- yd pickup they come to the line Second and seven fires to the wide out he's got it and he's brought down after a nice game listen QBs and wide receivers got to be on the same page and they got to know when to throw that Cur route it's got to be on time right when the wide receiver breaks so the DB can't catch up nice job QB and wide receiver being on the same page getting some positive yards see if they can turn this drive into points they've got it first and 10 at the 50 from the gun the ground game nice move to pick up yardage gets it all the way down to the 39 yd line it'll be a first down I think Jesse and REE could call offensive plays for any team if they're having this much success on the ground it starts with the ground game right like you can chew up these kind of plays then I can play action later on and take shots but right now defense is first got to stop the run game that's been chewing him up going up top on first down unloads it downfield into the Hallelujah land touchdown Panthers yeah and that's simple but it's not easy it's a go route like that that receiver's streaking straight down the outside of the field and my job as a quarterback is to put that ball up in the air keep it away from the safety he does just that receiver comes down with the catch nice pitch nice catch and [Music] [Applause] touchdown lining up to tack one more onto that [Applause] lead and the extra point pushes the lead to 14 quick work on that scoring drive just four plays and the points come on a pass from 39 yds out lining up to cover the kick after that touchdown drive from inside his own 10 let's see what he gets probably needed to pick up an extra block or two but as it is he'll be stopped at the 28 guys let's see how it goes this time for the Kent State offense now we'll get a chance to see if they can answer that last score trailing by 14 Jesse Yeah and at this point of the game I feel like offensively you should go back to what's been working for you in this game don't be afraid to dial up plays that you've already had success with running it and throwing it it's okay to repeat plays down 14 at this point and I would also say Palmer kind of understanding that my defense is not playing great so I know offensively I got to put some good possessions together here make something happen on this side of the field really nice run there good solid pick up and they'll move the sticks with a first down beautiful play call offensively at the perfect time in that situation the defense obviously expecting pass so they sneak the draw in and gash the defense the golden flashes in the hurry [Applause] up trying to find his man on first down quarterback now on for run still looking able to get just a few before sliding to avoid the hits you know QBs want to make those big plays they want to they want to put up the big stats but when nothing's there sometimes you just tuck the ball get a minimal game I like the slide by the way to get down and don't take a big hit as they get set to snap it just about to reach the end of the quarter we've been treated to an aerial show by these two guys so far as you check out their numbers 3 one more quarter to go and it looks as if we are ready to play line getting set on second down they got him looking run but they're going to throw it snags it over the middle tackled but he has a first down got to the o line a lot of credit there because it gave the receiver time to work all the way across the field on the drag route against Zone coverage quarterback gets it to him he's able to turn it up and get a first down and the golden flashes had this offense rolling coming out on first down with the play fake and the defense will Coral the quarterback and down he goes at Midfield and there's no mystery as to why this teams losing today they've given up five sacks they cannot keep their quarterback upright you just saw another example of it right there he has never been able to get into Rhythm throwing the [Music] football negative play on first down that's what a defense always wants to the air it's ulatowski got his man out of the back field and they get him down and no messing around right now if you're on offense this is the time where execution has got to be at a premium you need to hit completions David they need some big plays yeah and you just want to keep pressuring them and keep making them use the clock give them the underneath stuff and again when they drive the football down the field I just can't give up touchdowns field goal at this point is not going to hurt my defense bully ball on Third and short finds his way for a couple but stopped short of the marker it's fourth and one well it's Fourth and short and you're sort of in no man's land at this point near Midfield I think if you're on offense here you're going to have to go for it you're going to have to show confidence in your guys to get it done and go get you the win and on fourth down they'll try to salvage the drive with a field goal and it's no good no and after the Miss it's still a 14-point game that's now the second Miss field goal for this guy and you have to wonder if the weather is playing a bit of a factor not easy to kick in these kind of conditions with all this [Music] rain the pit offense back on the field in ready to roll they'll start this drive from their own 35 yd line moving the running back trying to get the D to tip its hand L one deep down the right side deep and the DB right with him to knock it away still on the 35 yd line they'll try it again on second and 10 looking downfield are now he's got him this time and he broke one tackle on the way to a solid pick up there I love an offense that wants to stay aggressive even when you've got the lead late in a game like this right you still try to find your Playmakers and get them the ball in space and that is exactly what this offense is doing ball is at the 42 yd line close to four down territory here's third and short they'll stick to the ground looking for the marker what a good run there he has enough for the first down big reason why his team has the lead right now late is because of his performance running the football well over a 100 yards in this game they knew that they were going to have to really put a lot of pressure on him he'd have to shoulder the load and he has delivered for his offense all game long might as well give it to him again they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one well the defense finally able to make a play getting a tackle for loss they haven't had many of those today because this running back really has answered the Bell they knew coming in they were going to have to give him the football force feed it to him and let him go to work he's done that well over a 100 yards rushing in this game and the defense just has not had the answers consistently for him one step W twep squeeze this junior knows how to get him on the ground1 Y BRS up third [Music] now facing a third and long he's looking to throw they'll run the screen sweet cut there finally run out of bounds but he has this offense rolling with a first down he's been so locked in it seems like any pass called is a guaranteed chunk play yeah and and when being late like this in the ball game keep trusting him keep spinning you know why because stats matter late in the game you want some postseason Awards keep chucking it keep getting those stats to the ground with the back he make the tackle after he gets two down to the 25 at this point of the game the offense has the lead the offensive coordinator knows they want to keep running the football so he's going back he's looking at his playlist he's saying which runs work the best for me in this game what can I lean on right here to make sure we win this one after picking up a couple at second and eight movement here from the tight end on the ground it's Hammond poers forward but stopped after a pick up of two to the 24 they've got a days to go on third down from the 24 as this defense tries to force him into a field goal try the playaction fake can't make the connection on third down thanks to that top him hard knows pass defense and now it's fourth down well on Third and short in field goal range they dial up the pass play quarterback was trying to get through his progressions there was just simply nobody open couldn't make an accurate enough throw ball Falls incomplete Now setting up a big decision here on fourth down never a doubt and that lead grows even bigger that1 [Music] [Applause] [Music] they're really starting to extend that lead as they get ready to kick it away again from inside his own 10 he'll try to help out their field position finds just enough space to cross the 25 let's mark it at the 27 yd [Music] line looking to go up top on first down throwing right he got a hand in there knocked it away incomplete at this point of the game in the fourth quarter it is going to be tough for this offense to get some completions here because now trailing by this much the defense is expecting pass and they're putting a whole bunch of extra DBS on the field to help them out in coverage and after the incompletion on first down this offense looking at second down back to pass it's ulatowski missed his receiver there it's incomplete it's a nice adjustment by the defense here with a big lead in the game you're putting extra DBS on the field knowing the offense has to throw to get back in this one in the fourth quarter so your best cover guys on the field and they force an incompletion on the last one Ball's at the 27 this offense facing a third and long from the gun wants to pass he's going to run it and he scoots his way to the first down and then slides to avoid the hit nice scramble unbelievable job after dropping back to pass and understanding the situation and a nice heads up play slide live to fight another down don't try to make a bigger play and run through somebody big and get yourself hurt the golden flashes are in the hurry [Applause] up from the gun they'll try to impose their will it's just so nice to know you can start off on first down with positive plays positive yards hand the football off set up a good second half got three on first down it's second and seven right back to the well and they'll bring him to the ground after a short gain game of it's third down [Music] third and short from the 44 and we might know if they plan to go for it on fourth down by what they call here from the gun wants to pass they're working that left side there to make the tackle but the big throw is good enough to give them a first down he might have expected to see this DB up in his receiver's kitchen instead nice little Zone and they pick up the first man offenses are getting so good Reese at seeing the holes in the zone knowing you're in zone knowing where to sit down how to make it an easy pitch and catch for the quarterback and that's what it was on Third and [Applause] short he'll come out throwing on first down finds his tight end how about this backer in pass coverage and bringing the big hit stick with him too well and here's the problem offensively because you're trailing by so much so late in the game the defense now is going to be playing big Zone coverages and they're going to allow you to throw the ball underneath in the middle of the field rally to make a tackle and bleed the clock it's going to be hard now for this offense to P their way back in this [Music] one the run from the shotgun that's what you expect from a senior don't give them any extra yards great tackle there third com do they have another third down conversion in the bag already two for two on this drive it's third and two looking deep got it and he will score touchdown Kent State K if this dude were a kitchen knife he would be slicing the tomatoes so thin your in-laws would never come back to your house well that'd be a good thing I don't know if I want my in-laws to come back anyways but he's been on fire he's been absolutely torching this defense they've had absolutely no answers [Music] for lining up to add another kicker is on for the extra point [Applause] and the Pat will draw them one point closer so it's a 73 yd touchdown drive and they pay it off with a strike from 38 yds out about to kick it off after punching it in for the touchdown from inside the 10yd line he'll bring it back able to find enough room to get it out across the 25 he's brought down 26 the Pittsburgh offense is back on the field David they couldn't pay off that last drive with a touchdown now they move the ball down the field and executed like they wanted to until they stalled out and had to settle for a field goal I think if you want to take the next step two here and score a touchdown you got to start finding more creative ways to get your best players the ball let's see if they can do that [Applause] here hit right back to the line [Applause] they'll leave it with him they pick up half of it it'll be second and five it's a point in the game I think as a coaching staff where you really challenge your offensive line to go win the football game right we've got to lead late we're going to run the football and the defense and everybody in the stadium knows that's what's going to happen can we run the ball down their throat and impose our will that's what this offense right now is trying to do they'll keep it on the ground still running at the 40 they get him on the ground at the 37 but give him 15 yds on that chunk play and they'll move the chains this guy's been special today coming into this one they thought they had an opportunity really to get him going running the football and he has delivered you've seen the speed the vision his ability to break tackles well over 100 rushing yards in this game and that's why they have a nice lead here L pulls it fires to the left didn't pick up a lot there moved it Forward just a few I like the decision by the quarterback here just get the ball out of your hands get it to your playmaker a lot of times he'll dance and make even bigger plays than he did here but it was still a positive game ran the ball on first down let's see what they do on second the give to the running back from the shotgun and maybe they want to try somewhere else because there is nothing doing in the middle of this defense if you're going to stop the run game you better be physical up front on the defensive line they've got some MERS they've got some dudes with bad intentions nice play there now on third down this offense has been rolling can the defense Stand Tall it'll be a draw that run epitomizes a veteran Savvy senior who knows how to find Space everything going the offense's way they're trying to ice this game late they've got a really nice lead so you just want to run the ball high percentage throws and keep the chains moving and they're doing that this has been a beautiful drive to watch offense continues to stay in a nice Rhythm here late discards a man he's dropped behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three it's going to be tough sledding for the offense here they're trying to ice this game by running the football and bleeding the clock they've got a pretty good lead here late in the game but the defense knows the run's coming right so they're going to be loading the line of scrimmage getting stops like what they just did be interesting to see what the offense does on this next one the handoff keep working on that clock and they try the middle of this defense and that is not happening awesome job up front by this defensive line being so good at the point of attack and eating blocks eating some double teams that allows these linebackers to run free unencumbered and get to the football already well within field goal range wonder how aggressive they'll be on Third and long from the 22 from the gun they'll try to impose their running game and he's not going to make it the defense denying him the first [Applause] down and now on Fourth down they will put it on the shoulders of the kicker to save them with his [Applause] foot and the kicker delivers the three ball to finish off the drive and that will extend their lead even further [Music] [Applause] [Music] after putting up the field goal they're set to kick it away here's the return from inside as 10 he was looking for some Running Room but not much to be found as he stopped at the 18 first down here with time for maybe one more play until the two-minute warning Pockets start start to collapse just had to get rid of that one good job to fight another play man this defense has been ruthless all game long individual effort they've got guys up front winning their one-on-one matchups and they have been terrorizing this quarterback second down here and maybe they've got time to get one more snap off before the two-minute warning wants to throw it's owski we hit the two-minute warning in this offense is desperate to make something happen and do it in a hurry now on Third and 10 if they can move the chains here maybe they can get this drive started from the gun wants to pass they're trying to get to it and they can't hook up on the big play and that brings up a fourth down after that incompletion fourth and long now on your own side of the field you're tring in the fourth quarter what's your go-to play call here in the passing game where is the matchup that you trust in to come up with a big one to give yourself a chance to stay alive and win this game on fourth down they'll throw for it unloads to the wide out it's incomplete and they desperately needed to keep that drive going and they couldn't make the connection looking for space it's Hammond and and this one will be stopped for No Gain quick timeout called by the defense stopping the clock to save as much time as possible for their offense movement from the linebackers trying to mess with the offensive Line's assignments ordinarily on second and 10 you might look past but here you just want to keep that clock moving a 6yd pickup that leaves him with third and four defense uses a timeout quickly trying to get that ball back and preserve time for their offense defense really need to pick up this conversion and avoid having to settle for the field [Applause] goal hand off from the shotgun he's able to fight his way for a couple of yards but it'll be fourth down and three timeout called there by the defense desperate to get the ball back and save as much time as possible they already have a comfortable lead up by multiple possessions but they're going to go for it here on fourth down he got it and he's into the end zone touchdown pit and how about it everyone getting involved getting the big tight end involved this offense has done an unbelievable job scoring points this defense has had no answers just keep it roll offense [Music] [Applause] getting aggressive here and going for [Applause] two trying to pound their way in he's not going to make it stopped short of the goal line and they are unable to extend this lead any further Pittsburgh 50 k about to kick it away after scoring the touchdown number set to kick this one away he'll bring it out from inside his own 10 nice job executing all of the assignments as they put a stop to that return at the 22 guys let's see how it goes this time for the Kent State offense he Wast no time and comes out throw it and he was looking over the middle and couldn't make the connection this defense has just been all over this guy all game long Under Pressure they're finding a way to get to him in affect his rhythm of course they have an interception in this game that's why they've got a big lead here in the fourth quarter this guy has never gotten into a rhythm and now on second down for this [Applause] offense didn't have much of a choice there but to get rid of it [Music] if they can convert here that type of play can really give you a shot of momentum looking to throw it's ulatowski he's got an open man turns it on in Midfield a huge gain on that one before he ran out of bounds and he has the first down well this offense has a ton of work left ahead of him here in this two-minute situation late in the game but the drive off to a good start you get the first down you get out of bounds you work in the perimeter of the field that is exactly what you want to do and the golden flashes have it with a first and 10 he wants to throw he's going to let one fly down the middle and it slips through his fingers incomplete that would have been a huge game if he could have held on you know it's one thing to take shots early in the game when the defense not be expecting it but at this point fourth quarter you're trailing by a lot they know you're going to do it and the defense was expecting that one great job in the back end the aerial assault continues unloads to the right can't make the grab quarterback just missed him a little bit nice job by the defense there taking all throws away from the quarterback he had nowhere to put that football in the field to play so that ball obviously had to go out of bounds third down conversions are a huge stat and this one would be a doozy if they can pull it off from the gun wants to pass lets it Fly oh he just flat dropped it he had the ball and didn't look it all the way in and it'll be fourth down that's why it's so important for this defense to win first in the second down you set up third and Longs like that you can show your exotic looks you can get the pass rush going everybody in the back and expecting throw that's how you force incompletions and Force fourth [Applause] BS he'll try to throw and pick up the first down he L it high and deep down the left side a sensational grab down the field there as they try to at least put a positive spin on the end of this game the big gain on offense and the play will stand the offense declines the penalty they'll throw it on first down just had to get rid of that one good job to avoid the loss the defense is dialed in right now guys they've got the lead they're expecting pass offense trying to go for verticals but all game long this defense is stepped up and they force another incompletion going to work in the Red Zone they can't pick up the first down without getting it into the end zone to the air it's owski quarterback feeling the pressure pressuring down he goes at the 22 here we are late in the game in this secondary they are still covered they forced the QB to hold on to it and then he bailed out trying to buy himself more time because he couldn't get rid of the football so quickly early that allowed the pass rush to get to him clock is still running and they have to get everybody lined up on Third and a check down would be the last resort couldn't find a man and just had to throw throw it away to avoid a negative play and the offense got themselves in a tough situation third and long so hard to execute especially when the field starts to shrink but the good news is they got a field goal in their back pocket they might need a telescope to find the first down marker but they'll go for it on fourth down he'll try to throw and pick up the first down and it's in complete the long pass downfield they couldn't hook up so with the late lead they're ready to just drain the in Victory formation with the game in hand the offense choosing to just have the quarterback take a knee [Music] [Music] [Music]
