Megan Gustafson Full Draft Segment (With Lisa Bluder - IOWA) 2019

and with the 17th pick in a 2019 WNBA draft the Dallas Wings select Megan gustofson from the University of Iowa so first let's get your ladies reaction to Megan Guston and the fit you feel she is with Dallas obviously the wings now Brian agler is their head coach of China they're turning over a new leap yeah I mean a lot unknown in the post for Dallas as we talked about with anything with list cage but you know Megan guson was arguably the most Relentless player in the country this season not only in her rebounding ability but just in asking for the basketball I mean she found an angle to score she was probably in my opinion the most Unstoppable for and it's been a long time since I've seen a post player with this level of Mobility her face up games she hacked one as we saw at the season went on but I just think that she is the kind of player that's going to bring her lunch pail to work every day and make a difference on both to the floor here's the good news for Megan gusterson she's not going to get double and triple teamed triple teamed when she gets to the WNBA the bad news is is that the the amount of length that she's going to see at the post position I think is going to be an adjustment for her well not all the time be able to just catch turn and score which we saw so often at Iowa and she was able to do it either way but this is a productive player and certain things translate rebounding does she does that at a high level and she's certainly efficient well Megan gusta is standing by with hly well Megan we talked so much about your abilities led the nation in scoring the last two seasons but the thing you're the most proud of is your footwork how have you developed that and how does that help you as a scorer yeah I think it's all about the angles you know trying to put yourself in the best position possible for your teammates to get the ball and um that's something that I work extremely hard on every single day you talked to me about the importance of your family your older sisters here your parents are here how have they driven you to be excellent they've been amazing you know they've just been supporting me loving me every single day and I couldn't be on this journey without them I mean you went to a school in Iowa you had an unbelievable run to the Sweet 16 this season in the Elite 8 um how has that program and being from one of the smaller programs impacted you in your mark you've left on college basketball it's been amazing you know we might not be one of the the top tier programs that everyone talks about um but we definitely made a name for ourselves this year and um you know it was an amazing run and I'm so proud to be an Iowa Hawkeye National Player of the Year your coach Lisa bler the national coach of the year you definitely have put your program on the map congratulations so proud of you and what you've accomplished at Iowa thank you [Applause]
