today is a very special video for a very special man if you haven't gathered by the title we're going to be talking about rexon football club's manager Phil Parkinson and how over the three years he spent at the club he has totally transformed rexam into a real Force as we've just continued to get promoted continued to win games we're going to be talking everything that Phil Parkinson has brought to rexon football club from signings to tactics to Stats to efficiency everything will be into today's video about the man the myth The Legend So before we get going in today's video if you'd like to see more Rex content on YouTube this is the place to be make sure to get down there and click the red subscribe button if you haven't already we are on the road to 26,000 subscribers so like I said if there's new Rex and fans coming across this video and you haven't subscribed and you're looking for reom content on YouTube to keep up to date with the club this is the place to be and of course I want to give a massive shout out to everyone who has supported the channel further over the past couple of weeks of course as always the names will be on screen there again a massive thank you to you and let's try and hit 800 likes on today's video about Phil Parkinson so we're going to be starting off with Phil Parkinson's signings of rexon the transfer strategy that Parky has brought since becoming rexon manager in 2021 and I think the signings is definitely a key factor as to how well Phil Parkinson has done over his threeyear s of the club but when you look further into the signings you look at you know the strategy that Phil Parkinson has bought to rexam yes the money has been there to spend since day one when Parky's come in but for me the signings that have impressed me the most at Phil Parkinson's Reign at the club have been the ones that been made on free transfer you look at the likes of Paul Mullen Elliot Lee Arthur aono George Dobson are just a few names that have been brought for a transfer fee of exactly zero pound yes we're paying the wages for them but you look at some of the quality plays that we've got for free and yes the players will be attracted by the project at Rex and by the owners but a big part that has been played in bringing in you know Paul Mullen who could have easily got the championship move likewise with a cono is parky parky will have played a huge role in the negotiations with these players we hear it often from the players that have signed for rexam that have always said how much Phil Parkinson has had an impact on them coming to the club they've heard good words on Parky that will only give players more of an incentive to want to join rexon that are higher up the leagues you know you see players sign that have said they've heard good words from Phil Parkinson he is just a genius when it comes to man management behind the scenes bringing players in being straight with players offering them exactly what he knows he's going to offer them and I think all the players do know that Phil Park is going to get the best out of them when they sign for rexon which you look at other clubs out there who have have big Financial push into the club some clubs they don't attract the level of plays I'm not going to sit here and be cocky but rexam have made some really good signings over the past few years you know we've always had that sort of regime where we've bought League two players in the national league league one players in League two and now we're starting to attract high-end League one players bottom end Championship players to come and sign for rexim and I think that's all down to of course Rob Ryan but more importantly Phil Parkinson and his coaching staff behind the scenes because you're not going to join a club yes you've got money yes you've got good owners but you're there to play football you are there to play you know for the team for the badge and Phil Parkinson will make sure you do that and you need to have a good manager in charge to bring in these big players it's not as easy as some people might think with rexam you know having Robin Ryan's owners it might seem easy to bring these big players in but I'm sure it's definitely hard behind the scenes to bring the quality of players in and I don't think some of these players that are at Rex at the minute would be here if it wasn't for Phil Parkinson another thing I do like as well you know we've seen multiple High profile players who are sort of kicking on at towards the end of their careers offer themselves to rexman to come and play but Parkinson like I said has a clear transfer philosophy in the first one or two seasons he signed players who carried a vast amount of experience in the efl brought them down to rexon to you know combat the hardest step of the chapter at rexon we were going to face getting out of the National League of course only two promotion spots in the National League he B those players in that were experienced that he could rely on to get the best out of the team to get the best out of themselves and to help them take that step up which is exactly what he did and this season we've seen sort of a slightly different approach to our transfer activity we've seen players being bought in you know that are slightly young that might have a high resale value if they are developed and have a really good stin of Rex and of course we don't really want to be selling players on if they're performing really well for us but thinking from a financial point of view as we continue to go up the pyramid we're going to be spending more and more money you know we're going to need more and more money to be competitive as we continue to go up the English pyramid so that could be something that Phil Parkinson has in mind and of course the likes of George Dobson who's been brought in former charlon athletic Captain we have a real pull at rexman I think Phil Parkinson does have a huge part to play in bringing these players either back to the club like Arthur Cono or bringing players to the club to be part of this project the next thing we're going to be talking about is the changing room at Rex samino another Factor that's played a huge part in our success over the past few seasons we've seen previously under the likes of Dean Keats Gary Mills second season some of the managers and some of the plays that we've had in the changing room have just been awful it's reflected with the results on the pitch and we've had such disjointed change rooms like I said over the past few seasons at Rex them you know not past few seasons now it's more like 5 10 years ago and you've seen the results on the pitch near relegations bottom half finishes in the National League and that's such an important thing in football you need a good manager who's going to get a hold of the dress room that has control of the players and you know you want to bring players in as well that are going to be able to control the dressing you want leaders who are going to carry the team forward and Parky seems to have built such a trustworthy changing room of course which has reflected massively on the success we've had you know in the three years that he's been here and I think a key example of this of course in the first season of Welcome to Rex and we saw a few players not going to name names quite immature commenting about some silly stuff at the end of the season All released Phil Parkinson had released all these players and that's sort of the philosophy that he wants he's going to want to bring players in that are going to play 100% for the badge of Rex and football club that's what we've done we've built a such a strong Squad and changing room of course changing rooms are one of the key fundamentals of success at a football club you can have a squad that's very low in quality but if you've got a good dressing room good chemistry then you're going to succeed you're going to see results on the pitch and I think rexam have both of those we've got quality and we've also got good characters in the changing room and that's all down to Phil Parkinson you know we've seen that we've so blessed to have such a good characteristic Squad and a squad that's full of character like I said and you know that's all too well saying they've got character Etc they provide the results on the pitch they works so well as a team and you know we've seen the rexam squad go from strength to strength every season and Phil Parkinson and his team just working so well with the players another thing we're going to be talking about is the fact that Phil Parkinson is a Serial winner it's not hard to understand and to see that Phil Parkinson knows how to get a promotion knows how to get the best out of a squad he's gain promotions with bolon wonders to the championship Bradford to League one is to call Chester United to the championship in 2006 and of course two promotions back to back with rexon so I think in the first place getting Phil Parkinson down to manag us in non league is such a big achievement in itself but to see how he's kicked on and see the results that he has gained at rexam I think is reflective of you know his past and how well he's worked with his teams that he's been with and how he's got the best out of the squads you know like I said Tim one just going up to the championship and even surviving in the championship with a squad that probably wasn't Championship quality taking Bradford up to League one taking Bradford to the Capital One Cup Final they were one win away from competing in the Europa League in League two that was so you know he's a man that just knows the dark arts of football and I think that's the thing with Phil Parkins and I think there's sort of a not a stereotype that he's put on Phil Parkinson I think it's down to some of the clubs that he's been at in the past where he's not quite succeeded a lot of people sort of think he's this hoofball manager who's brexit five of the back lump it long and to be honest it's been quite the opposite at rexam of course we had that shaky is start to the season you know when Phil Parkinson was first in charge and I think that was m l down to you know the squad still getting to know each other and Phil Parkinson just wanting to stamp an early indication as to what he wanted to do and I think that was something we should have known early doors from Phil Parkinson he didn't change anything you know when times were tough and this might sound stupid but times were tough when he first took over we weren't getting the results we wanted you know we were dropping points to really poor teams but Phil Parkinson's stuck by what he knew he's an experienced man he's stuck to the formation has worked for him in the past and of course we've seen recently he's mixed formations up a bit in possession he'll change it and out of possession he'll change it we've just seen a very flexible Phil Parkinson since coming into rexon and I think a word on the players as well he does not struggle to assemble a squad that is going to challenge the promotion you know whether it be with a sort of a team that's finished mid-table he'll come to the club he'll bring the right players in that he knows are going to work for him and are going to give the best for the football club and you will see results like I've got my notes here and like I've previously said you know when results aren't going your way times are slightly tough at the club you can rely on Phil Parkinson to regroup the group of players and get them firing again and the next topic we're going to be talking about is efficiency now I think this is only a point that we can really touch upon this season in League one as we've seen and it's only relevant of course to this season because League 2 we sort of dominated possession in most games National League I don't have to say anything about that but as we've seen this season Rex are 23rd in the table for average possession we only averaged 39.4% possession per game and that might seem like an issue to someone looking for the outside not looking at results only looking possession and to be honest yes you sometimes could look at average possession and think yeah there's not really a team that's going to succeed there but that means for nothing you're looking at the league table you see four wins Rex from top of the league 11 goals scored two goals conceded 59 shots on goal and it just shows how efficient we are as a team and how well you know Phil Parkinson's tactics work man management and now he gets the best out of the plays in the team too okay we might not dominate possession but it just shows how effective and efficient we are going forward scoring goals and how well he sets us up at the back you've got the Defenders who can break the lines with those Progressive passes whether it be to the Midfield who will then play out to the wing backs or you know they'll threed that lovely ball through to the strikers who you know it just creates that chances and we've seen Owen oconnell we've seen tom o Conor kwith who aren't afraid to go for that pass or that chip pass over to the wing backs who will end drive forward with it it just shows you know how quick we are to get the game started and how quickly we can transition from you know at the back Midfield or attack and of course you've got the Flying Wing backs James aklan Seb Revan Ryan Barnet you name it you've got those Wing backs who were constantly taking on their man bombing It Forward down the line putting those crosses in creating the chances and of course this season we've seen rexam are ruthless in front of goal even when we've got our Star Striker Paul Mullen not even barely playing a minute for us that's all down to Phil Parkinson that is all down to the squad that he has assembled at rexam he puts the trust and confidence in the plays who were starting in that 11 week in week out and he's not afraid to drop a player if they're not performing The Players perform 100 and 10% for Parky and of course the football club this is the topic that I really did want to talk about and this is a topic I'm quite excited to talk about and it just shows sort of the difference in you know how quickly things can change and this could sort of intertwine into the transfer activity that we've seen Phil Parkinson conduct at Rex him now the topic we're going to be talking about is depth we've seen the depth that's been added to the squad this season the transfer activity the strategy that Phil Parkinson has gone into to approach this season in League one we've had a good squad already that was I think could comfortably have finished in League one and could have survived easily in League one but the signs that we've made in this Chan of window and the depth we've added in single positions has just been ridiculous now we're going to be doing a comparison now to our starting 11 against Port Vale in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy last year compared to last night's team against sford City so last year's team against Port Vale Luke mcnicholas Bryce assana Aaron James Max kwith will Bole Dan Davis Liam mcalindon Luke young Jord Davis Jake beaf and Billy Waters it's a good team yes there's a couple of good players here and there but when you look at the lineup last night against sford City 11 changes made the lineup is as follows Callen Burton Luke Bolton Lewis Brun dancar will Bole Jacob Mendy Anthony Ford James Jones Seb Revan Paul Mullen Mo F the difference in teams there I don't think people are understanding how ridiculous the Gap in quality is and we're not even a year on from when we played Port Vale that is 11 changes made from our lineup for our last League game at home to shuby town that is genuinely ridiculous that is a team there that could easily you know have a good season in League one that could probably push for top half of the table and to think that that is 11 changes you know 11 of those players some weren't even featured in the last Squad that we had against shuby town and of course yes we've gone upper League we've got more money to spend we're going to have to bring that extra quality in but to see the difference in second choice lineups less than a year on you know he's just absolutely crazy and the team like I said yesterday alone could have probably won League two last year so I think that's definitely a smart transfer approach from Phil Parkinson you know going into this summer transer window it wasn't necessarily about going out for players who were going to Splash the cash on I think we've spent 1.4 million this Chan to window and to be honest 1.4 million well spent definitely the big signings of course being mile the bre or breaking signing of olle Rathbone so that's probably going to be around 1.1 million for both of those cu mile was 500k Roth Bone's probably going to be pushing 550 600 so look at the players that we've got in for you know about 400,000 SE Revan Lewis brunt they're players that have come in for really really cheap and Dan scar I think was an undisclosed fee Callen Burton on a threee Arthur a cono on a threee you know I've probably even missed out players there but the transfer activity and the transfers that we've made this transfer window have just been incredible and I think that's Testament of course to the project that we've got going Phil Parkinson in negotiation and of course a big shout out to our key owners Rob Ryan in all of this and the final thing I do want to talk about is the stats now the stats don't lie Phil Parkinson we know him he's been probably one of the greatest managers we've seen at this football club by far the best in my lifetime and I think if we are to get promotion against to the championship this season he is a club Legend and he probably will go down as the best manager that we've seen at this football club despite having you know laid on a plate some people might see from the outside I don't think people understand how hard it would actually be and how big of an achievement it is to take a club from non- league in the 2223 season to possibly the championship in the 25 26 so it's just crazy it would be crazy and I'm not getting too ahead of myself but like Parky said in his press conference these results don't count for anything but we've seen some early signs the players are going to show passion this season the fans are going to have a big impact on how we do I'm getting sidetracked now but looking at his stats like I said the stats don't lie 62.8 win percentage at rexam he's only lost 28 out of 172 games 376 goals scored in 172 games and this is the one that is just absolutely crazy at home Phil Parkinson has only lost six times at the race course ground that is ridiculous and of course that's the Fortress being the race course ground the fans you know we've got 13 and a half thousand fans now in on a match day the atmosphere's got better the fans just have such a big impact on the players and I think Phil Parkinson really does embrace the fan base of Rex and he's very complimentary and I think he understands how much of a big factor we do have on the plays and the results that we do see at home at the race goes ground is Phil Parkinson you know one of the best ever rexon managers let me know your thoughts in the comment section down below like I said for me we've seen some absolute dire managers in The Dugout for reom over the past couple of Seasons I think now that we've got Parky leading us out every single game is such and you know a pleasure and a blessing to have him at this football club and he's done so so well yes he calls mixed opinions at the start of his Reign at rexon but you probably couldn't find one person out there that does not think Phil Parkinson deserves a statue outside the race SC Grand if he do go up this season he's a legend you know he just Embraces the community and the fans of rexam he understands the football club he understands the vision everyone loves him and you know he's just a key key part in the success us so yeah that is it for today's video if you want me to do some of these type of videos on players going into their stats what they've brought to the team you know how they play and how you know how much success they've brought to this team team then let me know in the comments section down below of course we got that 2-1 win over sford City last night in the brist Street Motors wasn't a pretty performance you know it's probably the first time that most of these players have played together but a good turnout 6 and a half thousand two good goals as well Paul Mullen what a finish that was put the Deadpool mask on Deadpool Mask clearly matched the goal yeah good performance good start to the brell Street Motors trophy group not a competition I think we'll really be concentrating on this year again if we're slowly progressing if we slowly get further you know to the quarters and the semis it's a trip to wemble it's a good day out for rexon fans so I'm sure we'll start taking it more seriously as the competition goes on because again it's a trip to wemy it's another chance to win silverware and we could probably play our second string team for the majority of the competition and still do very well so again I'm not getting too ahead of myself but it's a good start and let me know as well your thoughts on that game in the comments so yeah that is it for today's video If you enjoyed make sure to drop a like click the red subscribe button of course we're on the road to 26,000 subscribers and if you would like to support the channel further it'll be the first link in the description down below and yeah until then I'll see you in another video probably for a preview for a big big game against Birmingham city next Monday I'm hoping I might get a new video in between then if you want more General efl content there'll be videos uploaded this week to my Liam talks efl Channel and I'll see you in another video take care guys up the town
