Alabama Crimson Tide Football NEWS! JaMarcus Shephard talks about the Tide's dangerous WR unit

fam what's going on it is Kyle Henderson aam of football on YouTube I appreciate you guys for being here if you roll tied hit the thumbs up I appreciate you guys being here today we are talking Alabama wide receivers we're also going to play Jamarcus Shepard's interview going into Western Kentucky a coach with a lot of energy there's so much excitement around this Alabama football team this wide receiving unit and of course Jamarcus Shepard because he absolutely brings it great interview coming up want to look at the wide receivers real quick and kind of just spot Shadow this group look we are not sure which wide receivers are going to play Alabama's been pretty tight lipped about that but I think honestly it's going to be a rotation of wide receivers I don't even have a player like Caleb Odum on this graphic but I think when you look to Alabama's wide receivers you got Jer Bernard who's a transfer from Washington a lot of experience Kendrick glaw Kobe Prentice Ryan Williams Emanuel Henderson uh Cole Adams so the thing about this group and and when you look to it and you're hear Demarcus Shepard in just a minute he talks about this group and he says they're inexperienced and you're like inexperienced well I think from a fans perspective sometimes you you think well Kendrick L's been here Kobe's been here even Emanuel Henderson well those guys haven't really got big opportunities I think the one guy who has the most experience playing physically here is Kobe Apprentice right before we get to this who do you think is going to be in the thousand yard Club let's look at the wide receiving numbers from last season Jermaine Burton by the way he might be kind of a sleeper fantasy guy if you want to add him to your team he's caught two touchdowns the last couple preseason games right Isaiah Bond no longer here Amari nblack no longer here there's Kobe prentis right played in 13 games 18 receptions for 314 yards with just two touchdowns CJ Dupri he comes back and he's honestly Alabama's second leading receiver coming back and you're like well where's Ken Jah well keep scrolling down I mean you saw Malik Benson uh for Florida State by the way I thought he did a a great job he caught a nice pass uh for the seals in the fourth quarter jayen hell he's injured jce mcellin now he's in the NFL by the way congratulations to him for making the Falcons Squad and then there's Kendrick L and you're like what he didn't even catch for 200 yards no he didn't he got for 135 yards so he's inexperienced in terms of you know the amount of touches and and not from a practice standpoint but from a game standpoint so I think when you hear jamarca Shepard here in a second talk about the fact that this group is inexperienced they are my question to you before we get to Jamar Shard and it's a great interview I'm going to let that play and then on the back end of it um I'm going to talk about the b-roll from practice on Wednesday let me ask you this and you can vote for this inside the comment box out of the players listed right here which player do you think pick two of them okay do you think have the best opportunity to be in the 10,000 yard Cup this coming season for Alabama Jeremy Bernard Kendra GLA Kobe Prentice Ryan Williams Emanuel Henderson Cole Adams I think what we saw from Jeremy Bernard during Alabama spring game is kind of a flash to what he's going to do during the season I I was really impressed with him I think him and Jaylen Miro already have a really good continuity Kendrick law I the guy's absolute Beast he has worked for it and I asked the morning show do you think he's going to have more than seven touches in total against Western Kentucky he better right got to feed him got to let we we have to see what Kendrick Glock can do in a game situation Kobe Prentice go back and watch the games I was calling him Kobe sticky hands Prentice the catches that he had wasn't a lot but the the plays that he made he was catching the ball in tough circumstances Ryan Williams he's already been doing it this is happening and Emanuel Henderson he was just short changed because he had an injury and Cole Adams they are calling him Mr reliable in this upcoming video interview with Jamarcus Shepard um he's going to talk about the wide receiver group as a whole you can't really hear the question from the reporter so I'll just go ahead and preview what they're going to talk about I might stop it um but I'll probably let it run he talks about the experience of jery Bernard he talks about Kendrick law talk and calls him the enforcer talks about Caleb bodm mean 66 and has a interesting quote there about Megatron um he talks about his family coming into Bama his time at Western Kentucky says that his daughter was born in Bowling Green um talks about Kobe Prentice talks about Western Kentucky and the mindset of those guys coming to Bama and he talks about the fact that this is in inexperienced group and he talks about the wide receiver rotation um I'm really excited about this interview he's a great coach uh he's the co-offensive coordinator Jamarcus Shepard has a ton of experience a lot of energy he's been doing a really great job for the Alabama Crimson Tide here is that interview courtesy of the University of Alabama everything uh day in and day out whether it's Spring ball whether it's in Fall Camp um uh whether it's you know going to play for the national championship you know we try to be consistent in how we approach every single day uh with the same type of intensity uh there's no doubt um as you get older you're you're more capable of handling that and doing that at a high level but these young men tend to end up uh you know making it more intense uh as it gets closer to game week so certainly I can see it from them uh their their want and desire to get out there and and physically um impose their will on another opponent H you can definitely see that as the practices have gone on this week you know what I think it's it's kind of nice you know somewhat as an artist you have a blank canvas and a lot of ways because you got a lot of young people who just really haven't had a ton of experience being out there in the fire with the expectation being on them third down in the Red Zone late in clutch periods uh late in with in the clock they just haven't had those opportunities in actual games so to be able to really teach and help them learn and understand what the requirement is in all of those situations has really truly been a blessing for me and and for the group there's been a lot of light bulbs going off in the room aha moments and it's you really appreciate that these guys are putting in the time and the effort to really try to make themselves into the best version of themselves but ultimately you know we don't want to take away what they really can do there's some guys that can run really fast guys who got some physical strength in the room okay but also hey now we got to learn how to play the position at a high level and I it's just been fun trying to you know be an artist as much as we can be and and make this group into a masterpiece uh Jeremy has been exceptional uh his leadership with this group shoot with the entire team has been exceptional he he's really put himself out there in a lot of ways in a way that he normally hadn't done that when we were at the prior place um and so this has been a moment for him to really push the envelope with his leadership amongst everyone that's uh involved on this entire football team but ultimately I think his knowledge and understanding of what it looks like what it's supposed to look like it is extremely valuable for everybody involved um the the formation exactly where the alignment should be um the ability to run the route slightly different than maybe how it's drawn on the paper you know there one thing to get the paper and see hey this is what it's supposed this is what it is and yes if there's nobody out there that's what it should look like but ultimately when somebody's out there hey there has to be some slight nuances that you have to have uh in your tool belt as I like to say of understanding so it's been super valuable to have him out there he he fights every single day he gets everything he gots he takes every rep that he possibly can but at the same time he's standing right behind guys coaching him up I can see coaching in his future Kendrick has developed himself into being really our Enforcer at the position you know I take a lot of pride in the group really blocking on the perimeter and being violent in our blocking um but having tremendous technique U we were talking yesterday all right we all know who all right we all know how but it's about who wants to block you know uh Co coach Gillespie was talking about it a ton and of course in the receiver room we talking about it a lot that that's what it's all about we know where to go we know how the technique for it now it's about desire and want to and that young man always has the desire and want to every single play every single time without exception to block on the perimeter so uh really really can't tell you how much I appreciate him and how he brings that mentality to the group I can always point to him and his actions more so than even what he says to let our guys know this is how it's done there's no doubt about it uh his growth is is continuing to go uh go grow more and more and more every single day um you know a lot of it is when you have great size like he does you know it's about being able to drop your weight violently and get in and out of breaks more efficiently and that that's harder I mean guy people who haven't been 6' 6 don't know and understand that I've never been 6' 6 but I know what it's supposed to look like you know it was something that you know some other receivers that I've had the pleasure of coaching they had to learn it along the way too you know um one of the receiver coaches in the NFL coach Megatron and that was something that he really and I I got a good relationship with him because of a prior guy but he really pushed that on Megatron Aon to really be able to drop his weight violently and Odum is he he is he has been absorbing the information every single day um and and and is willing to put in the time every day to make sure that he gets better and better at at that so obviously they're all freshman I mean there's not a freshman on us team that's not a work in progress so we'll continue to work with them and make him better just know there are other things he does at an exceptional level and you know hopefully we can use those things uh while we're helping him develop the other things that he needs to get better at that's Jamarcus Shepard I'll stop it right there um I mean he talked about the wide receivers I mean Jeremy Bernard Kendrick glaw to start out with uh the Vets he's going to talk about Kobe here in a second I mean you have Jimmy Bernard who has a lot of experience coming back I can't wait to see him play and then also Kendrick glaw as I said calls him the enforcer I love this uh quote about him talking about Caleb Odum saying that he's you know he's a bigger wide receiver Alabama hasn't had a bigger type of wide receiver that has been really effective in quite some time I mean if you're thinking about it who is Alabama's tallest wide receiver that's been the most um you know dangerous I mean you can go back I guess like Terrell Shavers he was up there um things didn't really work out for him um I'm trying to think of other guys who were like 65 and above um sound off inside the comment box on that but also with the Freshman you look at the Freshman wide receiver report Caleb Odum doing his thing Ryan Williams I mean that guy has had a phenomenal fall Camp as well Rico Scott don't sleep on him and Amari Jefferson those guys then you look to the guys that are coming in um Caleb Cunningham you know I get it he's going to Old Miss this weekend wouldn't worry about it um I think Jamar Shard has done a really good job maintaining him latier Brooks uh is another very talented wide receiver so the the future of these wide receivers still in good shape and then you have jiren Hamilton we haven't even talked about Jaylen hell who of course will get healthy at some point so I love the younger guys in this room we continue Jamar sheard's going to talk about um his family coming into town time at Western Kentucky talk about Kobe Prentice um kind of the mindset of Western Kentucky coming into this game um the fact that this is an inexperienced group and going to talk about that wide receiver rotation we continue with Alabama wide receiver coach co-offensive coordinator Jamarcus Shepard I do I do yes I do how excited are you for this first in a you I really haven't thought about a lot you don't get a lot of time to think about that as a coach um we're in here early in the morning don't leave till late at night and and we're just we're so focused on just trying to make sure that these young men are prepared and um all their dreams goals and aspirations we can help them achieve them so I'm I'm so much more focused on that than even my family coming in town obviously I'm married in three kids too so I barely get to see those ones my son had a game last night that I wasn't able to attend but I got to see some highlights um so again I can't even attend his games let alone be worried about who else is coming to the game I'm worried about making sure that we do the right thing for the University of Alabama's football team and that's what I'm going to spend most of my time on I'm sorry what' you say at Western um Western is a great place um I grew up there but I think the thing I remember the most is that my daughter was born there Alana was born in Bowling Green um so it was just a unbelievable day to have my my daughter and she's uh one of the three lights of my life I really should say four with my wife too um so um that's probably what I remember most about being in Bowling Green you got I think it's just a plus honestly I think it's something that you're just fortunate if that is the case at the end of the day I don't think you I don't know what your name is care whether we got people coming back here that have experienced or not you want us to go out there and perform at a high level that is the expectation here at at Alabama so it may be okay to have that and certainly I appreciate that Kobe knows what this environment's going to look like on Saturday and he can help some of these young players know hey guys this is what you're going to feel this is how it's going to feel on game day but at the end of the day if we put somebody out there we expect them to perform at the highest level possible to give our football team the chance to win the game you know having some experience coaching at West Kentucky what's it kind of like for you know especially small SCH no doubt about it uh I I remember my times coming down here to Tuscaloosa and uh I was at some of those other programs and you knew coming in the door that it was going to be a a fight a dog fight and uh you just wanted to come out of the game and uh feel like you had performed successfully and so um I I don't think that they're going to come down here with the intent of anything but to try to win the football game and that that that is legitimately how I felt every time uh we played uh some some of these tougher opponents I came in with the intent to win the football game so um we got to make sure that our players know and understand that our expectation is to go out and perform every play with a one and0 mentality it literally has to be all right we're not worried about the result of the game we're worried about hey what we're going to do on each and every single playy was word Des allers different body tyes different skill what would be the word put in term probably inexperienced I mean that's the best thing I can tell you um just haven't had a ton of experience out there um but we're going to get it it's it's on the way it's coming here soon um the practices really are their experience so you know even in saying that I've given them plenty of experience in practice now you know being in the game environment it really isn't a lot different we put them through so much in practices that really I hope for the games to be a lot easier than what we're going to do in practice I mean a lot of experi uh I don't know who's going to play at this point really um there's a lot of guys who have been out there um been rotating a lot of people um at various positions even so um the expectation is if you go out there on the field you perform at a high level stay on out there and keep performing okay all right if you don't come Stand By Me okay all right and that's just the reality of it they know and understand it when they see this video they gonna know what that means okay all right game week um honestly our group runs a lot um we we run a lot of plays um um we get a lot of volume especially on Tuesday uh Wednesday and even on Thursday but on Monday you know some of them will be trickling into my office to try to come watch some film to kind of preemptively get themselves ready for you know whatever we're going to see so they can get their first look at it um but I try to give them that information on Sunday so I'm kind of working backwards on you guys with this um but it's just a lot of volume we try to put a lot of pressure on them to be able to continuously perform all throughout the week um we don't catch balls someone on the field doesn't catch the ball guys are on the sideline doing up downs and they weren't even in the game there's just an expectation that our guys at this position go out there and catch the football and compete for the football um that's just the way I coach it that was coach Jamarcus Shepard I hope you guys enjoyed that interview courtesy of the University of Alabama um we're going to look at some b-roll now this is b-roll again courtesy of the University of Alabama this is from uh the practice which was held on Wednesday I'll go full screen I'll do a voice over as you can see uh players on the defensive side number 11 that is jiad Campell looks like these guys are working indoors during this particular period that is Justin Jefferson at the inside linebacker position kton Jones one of the very talented freshman number 41 right here this is Justin okaron who had a fantastic fall Camp uh this inside linebacker unit overall I think is going to be very productive this year I think Jad Campbell asked earlier show today think he's going to have more than 10 tackles in this upcoming game I think so Justin Jefferson is well going to get a lot of rotation um now looking at the Crimson you have the tight ends right here getting off the ball I really like this group CJ dpri last year was really um he was utilized I mean he he really was and he he comes back with a lot of experience Robbie UTS I can't wait to see him in some 12 personal set there's Danny Lewis right there uh getting off the block this this tight end group I'm really excited about this uh as I said many times now with the offensive line coach kayn nebor during today's SEC teleconference said that there's going to be some rotation at that tackle position Willl forby Elijah pritchet that they're going to be rotating players I personally like this look let's get the best player to play let's find a rhythm for these players at this point in time there's no you don't have to be completely set in stone against Western Kentucky now do you want to have that continuity buttoned up by a game against Georgia yeah but you also want to be able to have guys who who have played so whether it's Elijah pritchet whether it's um you know a guy like wilcom forby there's Parker bford right here number 72 All Eyes going to be on him right snapping the football um I I can't wait to see it number 74 this is Kaden Proctor absolute monster so um this was the B- roll today this is Tim Keenan look how he gets off the ball man I think he's due for a monster season to be honest here's uh I believe that it should be jir and lean uh see these guys in action so I hope you guys have enjoyed this video you know I wanted to bring that Jamarcus Shepard video to you just because I think he's done such a great job for the University of Alabama early on and you're going to continue to see those wide receivers really ball out so so let me go back uh before I go and ask you guys one more time which wide receiver you could pick two of them do you think we'll make the 10,00 yard Club this year for the Alabama Crimson Tide a Jeremy Bernard B Kendrick glaw C Kobe Prince D Ryan Williams e Emanuel Henderson or F that is for Cole Adams and then uh this screen was from last year one more time these are the receivers who caught the most yards for Alabama Germaine Burton with 798 they didn't have a thousand yard wide receiver Isaiah Bond 668 I think the these numbers will greatly increase uh this coming season I can't wait to see it and then here's kind of a look at the depth chart again as you just heard from Jamar Sheard and I don't think he was he was kind of U you know like hiding stuff behind the best I I think there's going to be a heavy rotation of these wide receivers so can't wait to see him can you imagine if like Ryan Williams scores a first touchdown people are going to go crazy right I love you guys thank you very much for watching this video tonight uh remember you also had uh the hate coach show a lot of coverage right here on B football on YouTube
