Ex-Michigan analyst Connor Stalions a high school head coach now?

yes we are talking about Michigan and Conor stallions once again here on the show because well like a lot of other topics and stories this one is one that we remain invested in and I know we remain invested in it because people show up to listen to you talk about Michigan Ohio State Oklahoma Alabama Georgia you know schools that play on national television and Michigan is going to play a huge game on National Television big fox big noon against Texas at an arbor Texas is looking to snap a 23 game winning streak at Michigan Stadium by the Michigan Wolverines that started about the same time that Conor stallion started to make inroads in a much bigger way at the University of Michigan so it is fascinating to learn this news as stallions and Michigan are still backs against the wall but in a way that comports confidence right the way I want to get at Conor stallions today is talking about his high school football Journey uh and how he ended up taking the route that he did to being a football coach for those of y'all that didn't take the time to watch uh the sign stealing doc from Untold on Netflix The Gist is he came up with a really elaborate way to steal signals and be efficient at not just deciphering those signals but relaying to the offense and the defense what the opponent was going to do right before they did it it is knowing the play before the play happens and it gives you an advantage I still take the tack that knowing the play is one thing stopping the play is something else entirely I also take the tack that if you are going to buy tickets to 30 Games over two dozen stadiums to advance Scout and ask people to take video of other people's signals from the 50 yard line maybe don't do it in your name and maybe have a better explanation than I just like football and I like to extend expensive tickets to my friends all across the country for Big 10 opponents and opponents that Michigan might play in the college football playoff it's conspicuous right however up until now we have not seen evidence that Michigan is actually going to get into trouble for this theyve got a notice of allegations that's what that is it's a notice of allegations they get to respond to this in writing in 90 days and we don't even know what's in the notice of allegations we don't know what the NCAA uh has alleged and we certainly don't know what the NCAA thinks the punishment should be we only know that Conor stallions was on the staff up until they got caught cheating and then he was not on the staff and it seems like just as soon as he left that staff he started making this Untold documentary just in the way that it's shot and what kind of access they he gave them and the fact that Conor stallion didn't talk to anybody up until this documentary was released which to me says that he was contractually obligated to only talk for this documentary which you know may may or may not have gotten paid for his Services he also comes from a family that is steeped in Michigan tradition his mother uh had a tweet last year that I still giggle about it says breathe if you hate Ohio State okay cool I'm also looking around at uh This Home Video they gave to Netflix of him weeping as Michigan won the 1997 National Championship when he was just a child he grw he dressed up as Bo shim Beckler for Halloween he knows Bo shim beckler's famous the team the team the team speech by heart and all he's ever wanted to do was be a Michigan Wolverine football coach or so it seems and he took a really interesting route to do it out of high school he goes to the Naval Academy why does he go to the Naval Academy because he read a list that had something like 15 of the top 20 coaches in the world all had or excuse me of all time all had experience in the military to which I'm going to tell you as a guy that well I got my appointment applied in Naval Academy all those things my parents are um Air Force my mother's a retired captain my father's a retired Sergeant you don't just kind of luck into the academy any Academy Air Force Academy Naval Academy West Point Coast Guard you don't you don't luck into those uh you got to be one of the select it's a really rigorous process it's really difficult to get there and it becomes your career that's the reason you're doing it you're coming out as an officer which means you're going to come out as a 22y old 23y old wet behind the years uh kid giving 35 year olds orders and they have to trust you which means that you have to earn their trust so you can see how going to the Naval Academy makes you I think into a better leader especially a leader of men but I don't know that that would be the reason why I go to the Naval Academy uh I do a show about college football I love college football I've always loved college football I have been covering college football as a professional for half my life and I've been doing this show coming up on seven years in just a few days and the thing that I want you to know is I don't think that I'm going to come out of the Naval Academy and think about coaching football I think my priorities are a little bit bigger than coaching football and I'm certainly not going to go to Camp Pendleton like he did to fly back and forth to Michigan games on my own dime so that I can be on the sidelines for these games to coach and while I'm a US Marine I just tend to think that the duty comes a little bit farther ahead than coaching football that he could do both more power to him uh I don't know that I could have done both that's that's that's that's a heavy ask but he wanted to be a football coach so badly and he wanted to help Michigan win a National Championship so badly and he got what he wanted right he got to be on the sidelines and he gave Michigan an advantage that they could use that has led to this historic run over the last three years right of them just being great one of the two best team teams in college football the last three years them in M excuse me them in Georgia right and now that Jim Harbaugh has gone and half the staff has gone with him to Los Angeles to coach the Chargers Chiron Moore is still head coach without a contract but with a memorandum of understanding that you know it doesn't take rocket science to figure out perhaps they're waiting on what happens with the NCAA to figure out what exactly his contract looks like although they agreed on the sum which is somewhere around million doll back in February January that part and you know Jim Harbaugh had it in his contract that Chiron Moore would succeed him that's how much he thought of Chiron Moore uh as an offensive coordinator as a head coach I'm also looking at Conor stallion that well he traded I think what other people believe about him or think about him for the opportunity that is before him now and I I have myself thinking about the other part of my life that I've devoted myself to which is writing and James fry James fry wrote a book called a million little pieces that was published in 2003 by double day and at the time it was one of the hottest books in the world Oprah had anointed it and I got to tell you man Oprah anoints one of my books I'm a bestseller that's just that's just how that goes That's how much her opinion and her Oprah's Book Club means and she had anointed that book Because as a memoir it's phenomenal it is one of the greatest Memoirs of all time problem is it ain't a memoir problem is he said this was not based in fact his book it was based in truth you know and that that gets to be wonky because people have a different definition of what the think the truth is which is why I talk about facts and not the truth truth is emotional right truth relies on facts when it wants to but if your truth is that you are me about me right if my truth is that I'm 6 fo5 250 pounds and Bulletproof is that a fact no no no it is not no it is not it is most definitely not a fact but if that is my energy if that's my truth and I'm living my truth who are you to tell me that I'm wrong well that's why we have these things called facts that rein us all in and it also set a baseline for what is awesome and what is excellent you know we get something else to measure up against for instance there are those that do not see how hard it is to get to 1,000 subscribers but they don't think that's such a big deal because they see lots of other channels with bigger numbers I got to tell y'all man getting the first person to sign up getting the first 100 people to sign up to if you're not out there trying to make it happen you just wouldn't so James fry was outed by The Smoking Gun and had apologized for how this has gone down but not really like he said he submitted his book not as a memoir and that double day chose to publish it as a memoir only to take it back and he has yet to say yeah I was wrong to write that and submit it in the way I did because he believes that the truth that's the truth he wrote it was one of the coolest things that he ever written it's one of the fastest things he'd ever written and here we are talking about what it's not and I think that is what Connor stallion is trading I don't I wouldn't want to trade my Integrity for for saying what I'm not or what I am so when he says I didn't Advance Scout any games and he says that I wasn't on the sideline at Central Michigan in costume all we're doing is talking about whether or not we believe you and while it might not be that important to him whether or not we believe him it is important to me because one of the only things that I have learned in my my life there's an eagle scout ring back there I mentioned my parents are uh servicemen and women I mentioned that there is nothing that they love more than my sister my self in this country and they are even beating over my head Integrity Integrity Integrity Integrity honesty okay so Conor stallions wants to be a football coach he actually was gonna get the job at Berkeley High School near Detroit and the district officials said nope we don't want that citing the NCAA investigation then Here Comes William McMichael to offer him defensive coordinator job as a volunteer at Mumford and now because of a health complication with Coach Mumford we're going to see well Conor stallions acting as head coach for Mumford high and are they any good they lost 47 to six with him as defense importantly in the first game so maybe not but there's two ways this is going to go for Conor stallions either it's GNA go the James fryways with this light and this rather large highlighted piece of your backstory everywhere you go or you get to just work at Michigan and be Rudy for them this is more a war Shack test for you than and me right than it is about Conor stall it is what you think about Conor stallions will not change from here on out it just won't but how you express how you feel that is the dialogue I would like
