Update On Burger King Explosion In Kingston Jamaica

a look at what's trending in and around the Caribbean in today's video I'll be reacting to the explosion in a Burger King in New Kingston Jamaica let's talk about it for her death because this is critical and we're not going to sit down and allow my family to die because of Any policy life first best care first I am the director for sanna foundation caran folks family have reached out to the sanna foundation for help Miss folks is one of the person that get injured in the explosion a few days ago the family have reached out to sanna Foundation for help and we secure the medical help for her abroad and we now need her to fly out the air ambulance to come and take her to abroad my name is Renee folks Johnson I am the sister of the supervisor who was on duty at that um on the day of the explosion her name is caran folks she is in urgent need of Specialized Care in extreme pain she is in extreme pain she has been she has various levels of burns from partial to critical or to severe and at this time her moral is deteriorating the longer she stays in this hospital we have assured her as the family that we are working with all the contacts that we have to identify a facility we have done so and based on her injuries based on the admissions of the doctor based on the consultations that we have had with the international um Community as well as well as the local experts there are no burnt facility um in Jamaica and so we are not confident even though we know that the doctors in Jamaica are exceptional we however need also not just the best doctors we also need the best facilities the best technology the best resources the best protocols the best rooms so that she can be regulated so that she does not get an infection and at this time based on what we have seen we are not confident in any other facility in Jamaica at this time and we don't have the time to wait to research or to be convinced we the family I have the autonomy and the this final decision for the the the the care that she should be provided with and as a family we have identified a facility over disas which we are assured will give her the best care that she needs for recovery and that is our decision and it is not conditional and it is not going to change at this time I am not pleased at this time we the family have indicated to Burger King what we find as an acceptable option for care we have made that unconditionally known and we will not accept anything less than what we think is the best she requires the specialized care of a burnt facility if there was one in Jamaica we would accept but from all the research I have done there is none and so we will not accept any suboptimal arrangement we want her to be seen by a no I am not at this time we need the funds released immediately without having to go through bureaucracy without having to go through policy without having to go through proof at this time life is at stake and policy is secondary because life is first and we need her on that plane immediately so what are my thoughts about this well as you can see the young lady her sister who is advocating for her to be flown to the US to get treatment for second or third degree burn the first thing is that I know Jamaica there's not a lot of these incident that happened on a yearly basis but for decades now whenever someone in Jamaica whether it's from a car accident whether it's from a burning building whether it's from like an explosion or anything like that the fact that after so many years Jamaica does not have like a proper Burn Unit that needs to be fixed and one of the thing that have always have been saying more recently is that whenever with our politicians now in Jamaica is almost like they're more interested in the beautification like in terms of building roads and you see these highrise hotels and apartment buildings going up most times those buildings are priced out of the reach of a regular average Jamaican and yes it's good to have those infrastructure going up but when you look at infrastructure such as schools and hospitals they log way behind so that that is number one I believe that Jamaica or even the Caribbean should have some type of Burn Unit that can manage these type of um incident whenever they arise not only in Jamaica but in the wider Caribbean and the second thing is that this seem to be such negligent because I have worked in Hospitality for over 30 years and whether you're in um a small restaurant whether you're in a hotel gas leak is like a dangerous thing and if you are in that situation where there's a gas leak until that um staff they're experiencing naria staff are passing out because of the the smell of gas there is no way that the gas company should have come to that location and keep the business open for that day that Burger King should have been closed for the entire day gas is not something that you play with like a gas leak and I don't know how that was possible because I know they have technology that you can just test the quality or the amount of gas that's in the air like I know they have technology that so the fact that the gas company came they fixed the leak but they weren't able to to detect the amount of gas that was still in the atmosphere and this happened that that is complete negligent um and then and third for you know a big franchise like like a Burger King I know as I said I've work in Hospitality for a long time and you cannot operate a restaurant a hotel any type of food establishment without insurance that will cover in particular kitchen because you have to have those sprinklers installed and you have to have um insurance that will cover like slip and fall that will cover burn so to me this just seem very I don't know what to say like for a big chain like Burger King the family should not be out there on TV begging asking for the public to step in I believe that the the owner of the franchise should have stepped up pay for the the the the the the air ambulance and pay for everything and I know insurance would have to cover it and they will recoup from insurance and the young lady that experience whether it's third or second degree burn um she'll be in in taken care of right away you don't have to wait and then the the the franchise owner figure out the the the the fine print the details after but for them to be on TV like begging for this young lady life to be saved when she was injured on the job that that that is that is a no no so guys um just let me know what you think about this story coming out of New
